- 0:00Did you know that Berserk wasn't
- 0:02entirely fictional, but rather some
- 0:04parts were inspired by the life of its
- 0:05creator, Kentaro Miura? Shockingly,
- 0:08even the Guts and Griffith angle. Today
- 0:10is Day 99 of 100 Days, 100 Anime Facts,
- 0:12and I’m talking about
- 0:13Kentaro-sensei’s school days.
- 0:15Kentaro-sensei mentioned in several
- 0:17interviews that he incorporated the
- 0:18Band of the Hawk element from his own
- 0:19life into his series. When he was in
- 0:22high school and college, he had such a
- 0:23tight-knit group that he created the
- 0:25Band of the Hawk by observing their
- 0:26group dynamics. And he also shared that
- 0:29the complex relationship between Guts
- 0:31and Griffith is actually based on
- 0:33himself and his lifelong friend and
- 0:35rival, manga artist Kouji Mori, who
- 0:37wrote Holyland and Suicide Island. But
- 0:39not in the way that it is shown to us
- 0:41in the manga. He said that when they
- 0:42were young, Kentaro-sensei felt a sense
- 0:45of inadequacy whenever he looked at
- 0:47Mori. Because Mori-sensei had so much
- 0:48natural charisma and early talent.
- 0:50Exactly like Guts 'initial feelings
- 0:52toward Griffith. And let me tell you
- 0:54something. After Kentaro-sensei’s
- 0:56death, it is Mori-sensei who is now
- 0:57supervising the Berserk manga. To make
- 0:59sure that his lifelong friend's work
- 1:01isn't just forgotten. And to do that,
- 1:03he even left the manga he was working
- 1:06on himself. But did you know that a
- 1:08manga artist who wrote a manga as big
- 1:10as Naruto and Bleach in his time died a
- 1:12hero while trying to save a kid?
- 1:14Let’s meet again on this page
- 1:16tomorrow for the final fact of this
- 1:17series. So follow me for that.
