10. 0:15by statistical evidence the reality is
11. 0:17that the pay gap is almost entirely
12. 0:19a creation of differentials in work
13. 0:21hours in jobs chosen
14. 0:23it is a differential in time taken off
15. 0:24from the workforce women tend to take
16. 0:26more time out of the workforce because
17. 0:27they want to be home
18. 0:28with the kids in many cases the basic
19. 0:30idea that a woman works an hour a man
20. 0:31works an hour exact same job exact same
21. 0:32credentials and so the woman gets paid
22. 0:34less
23. 0:34is just silly it it actually is not true
24. 0:37it's been widely debunked christina
25. 0:38summers has done that work many many
26. 0:39times before
27. 0:40in fact in america's largest cities it's
28. 0:42been true for years that people who are
29. 0:44fresh out of college without having
30. 0:45taken time out of the workforce
31. 0:47women in the same industries tend to be
32. 0:49paid as highly or more than men that's
33. 0:50according to time magazine that goes
34. 0:51back a full decade
35. 0:52it doesn't matter we're still going to
36. 0:53keep promoting the quote-unquote
37. 0:55equity-based idea
38. 0:56that if women on average are paid less
39. 0:58than men for all of those extraneous
40. 0:59factors
41. 1:00for all of those confounds well you know
42. 1:02that's still not good enough
43. 1:03we have to equalize pay between men and
44. 1:05women and pretend that women are
45. 1:06not getting paid enough for the same
46. 1:08exact work as a man so biden's

67. 1:44the men yeah you're not paid the same as

69. 1:46lady because you're in women's soccer
70. 1:48which makes money once every four years
71. 1:49whereas men's soccer makes money

264. 7:31cents so apparently america is super
265. 7:32duper racist against hispanic and latino

271. 7:44men have different jobs than women men
272. 7:46tend to go into stem fields women tend
273. 7:48not to go into stem fields that is not
274. 7:49due to systemic discrimination
275. 7:51all of the big tech companies have been
276. 7:52trying to recruit women into these
277. 7:54fields for a very long time

281. 8:00have different preferences in job
282. 8:01selection than men do
283. 8:02this happens to be accurate he also
284. 8:04pointed out that if you look at test
285. 8:06performance when it comes to math and
286. 8:08science what you tend to see
287. 8:09is that the averages for men and women
288. 8:11tend to be pretty similar
289. 8:12but that at the tail end of the spectrum
290. 8:14the curves are different
291. 8:16the male curve in terms of test scores
292. 8:18on math and science tends to show a lot
293. 8:20of really dumb men and a lot of really
294. 8:21smart
295. 8:22men and the average somewhere in the
296. 8:23middle and for women a lot of people in
297. 8:25the middle very few very dumb
298. 8:26and very few very great at science and
299. 8:29tech
300. 8:30okay that does not mean that if you just
301. 8:31pick a woman that she's going to be
302. 8:32worse off than a man it means that when
303. 8:33you're looking at a statistical average
304. 8:35of wages you have to look at factors
305. 8:36like this again women tend to enter the
306. 8:40stem fields less often than men
307. 8:42and actually when you look at countries
308. 8:45that have supposedly more
309. 8:46gender equality what you see is that
310. 8:48women enter stem fields there
311. 8:50even less often than in countries where
312. 8:52there is more gender inequality
313. 8:54why because if a woman has to get a
314. 8:56higher earning job in order to support
315. 8:58her family
316. 8:58it turns out that she will pick a stem
317. 9:00field because that's where the money is
318. 9:01but if you're in
319. 9:02the netherlands where women don't have
320. 9:03to get a stem job
321. 9:05in order to have a decent way of life
322. 9:07well then they won't become doctors
323. 9:09as often as they will go into other
324. 9:11forms of of job and occupation
325. 9:14university of chicago economist stephen

327. 9:17interpreting women's lower wages of
328. 9:18failure
329. 9:19perhaps it should be seen as a sign that
330. 9:20a higher wage simply isn't as meaningful
331. 9:22and incentive for women as it is for men

334. 9:29inequality of outcome means that america
335. 9:31is terrible and horrible and no good and

345. 9:48woman they literally have no definition

348. 9:52is to simply have people stop
349. 9:53identifying as a member of gender at all
350. 9:55because gender is irrelevant
