- 0:00Allah now describes something happening
- 0:01deep inside ourselves, inside each
- 0:03person, inside me, inside you.
- 0:09Don't end up following feelings, empty
- 0:12feelings, that keep you from being fair.
- 0:16And this idea is your feelings get in
- 0:18the way and say this person deserves
- 0:20less because I don't like them.
- 0:22This person said this this this and
- 0:23therefore they should not have as much
- 0:24as this person or the other person.
- 0:26Or implicitly, you know, for example,
- 0:28there's a father who loves one of his
- 0:30sons and is kind of annoyed with the
- 0:31other son.
- 0:32And time comes for inheritance and he
- 0:34kind of
- 0:36you know, favors one son over the other.
- 0:38The feeling got in the way.
- 0:40The feeling got This one used to massage
- 0:42my feet even when he was a teenager.
- 0:44This one was talking back to me. He
- 0:45should not get the a piece of the This
- 0:47one gets the BMW, this one gets the 1987
- 0:50Hyundai.
- 0:51Right? That's cuz they both got a car,
- 0:53so you know. No, no, no. Your your
- 0:56feelings cannot get in the way of being
- 0:58fair.
- 1:00Your feelings cannot allow you to be
- 1:01biased one way or the other.
- 1:43What kind of heavy heavy Muhammad
- 1:45Sallallahu alaihi wasallam
- 1:47What in a shuttle aboard
- 1:49in a cooler
- 1:51and better What could I be that dollar
- 1:53or could I be that in the north?
- 1:56You call Allah as you wish you can tell
- 1:58me to clean my body and I call you to be
- 1:59like
- 2:39In my last uh khutbah, I spoke about the
- 2:42opening phrase of ayah 135 of Surat
- 2:44An-Nisa. I'll summarize that for you.
- 2:47Those of you who claim to believe become
- 2:49or be those that keep standing up for
- 2:52justice or stay keep standing up with
- 2:55justice by their side.
- 2:57Witnesses being witnesses only for
- 3:00Allah.
- 3:01Some easy takeaways that you can
- 3:03remember from this ayah will be or this
- 3:05part of the ayah will be that Allah
- 3:06wants us to not just be fair, but become
- 3:10people, completely transform ourselves,
- 3:13that every opportunity we rise up and
- 3:15stand for what is right over and over
- 3:17again. And it's not just in things that
- 3:20have to do with the outside world. It
- 3:22has to do with things inside our
- 3:23families, inside our homes. Because this
- 3:25ayah 135 in Surat An-Nisa is coming
- 3:28after a long series of ayat that deal
- 3:30with political issues in Medina, but
- 3:33they also deal with family issues.
- 3:35And then Allah mentions justice. So,
- 3:37there's justice in politics, and there's
- 3:39also justice in the family. And he
- 3:41combines both of them in this ayah now.
- 3:43And tells believers you have to keep
- 3:45standing up for justice every time there
- 3:47is an injustice happening between
- 3:48husband and wife, parents and children,
- 3:50inheritance matter, money dispute,
- 3:52whatever the dispute is, you have to
- 3:54stand by justice for Allah's sake. Now,
- 3:56why why even mention
- 3:58be witnesses for Allah's sake, shuhada'a
- 4:00lillah? Why not just say, be fair for
- 4:02Allah's sake?
- 4:03The shuhada'a, the the mention of the
- 4:05word witnesses is to tell us something
- 4:07very key about justice. Justice does not
- 4:09work without testimony.
- 4:11One of the most fundamental aspects of
- 4:13justice is testimony, is witness.
- 4:16And when someone gives witness, they can
- 4:18be influenced. They can be influenced by
- 4:20their anger.
- 4:21So, or they could be influenced by their
- 4:22emotions. One of my teachers is a great
- 4:24inspiration to me. Uh
- 4:26She doesn't like me to mention her name,
- 4:28but she's a I study under her uh in
- 4:30Istanbul
- 4:32uh at a university.
- 4:33And she was mentioning that one time
- 4:34there was at the university there was a
- 4:36dispute among teachers.
- 4:38Something happened. Somebody some
- 4:39teacher got angry at another teacher and
- 4:41they said something.
- 4:43And
- 4:44she was the director of the program, so
- 4:45she wanted to know what happened. So,
- 4:47she called all the staff that witnessed
- 4:48it, right? And so, tell me what
- 4:50happened. And they start telling her
- 4:53what happened, but some people came in
- 4:55and said, "Oh, it was terrible. I just I
- 4:57felt so terrified and it was so unusual.
- 4:59And it it
- 5:00And she says, "No, no, I didn't ask you
- 5:02how you felt. I asked you what
- 5:03happened."
- 5:05Right? So, now what they're testifying,
- 5:06but they're mixing the testimony with a
- 5:08lot of their emotions, their
- 5:09experiences, how they felt. I can't
- 5:11believe this person said that. I can't I
- 5:14can't believe they raised their voice
- 5:15this much. Those things are your
- 5:17opinions.
- 5:18And you may be entitled to your opinion,
- 5:21but
- 5:21testimony has nothing to do with your
- 5:24opinion. Testimony is who said what,
- 5:26what did they say,
- 5:28and what did you what did you recall?
- 5:30When you start mixing that in with your
- 5:32emotions, the emotions that we have,
- 5:34they go up and down. When you're
- 5:35stressed out, you feel a certain way.
- 5:37When you're angry, you feel a certain
- 5:38way. You could say something and you
- 5:39don't remember that you said it.
- 5:42Other people even testify to She asked
- 5:44them, "What happened?" "I I don't know.
- 5:46It was so I can't remember anything.
- 5:49Okay, then you're not a credible
- 5:50witness.
- 5:51Right? So, the idea of witness is really
- 5:54important in testimony. And in in
- 5:56justice, you can't have justice without
- 5:59accurate testimony. And testimony
- 6:02can be corrupted easily.
- 6:04It can be corrupted, like I said, by
- 6:05anger. It can be corrupted by fear.
- 6:07Somebody could intimidate a witness, you
- 6:09better not say anything.
- 6:10Or you better testify falsely. Somebody
- 6:12could be thinking, if I testify, I'll
- 6:14lose my job.
- 6:16If I testify, my father will disown me.
- 6:18If I testify, I'll be humiliated. If I
- 6:20tell the truth of what happened, they're
- 6:21not going to be my friend anymore.
- 6:23Everybody's going to block me. I'm going
- 6:24to lose my position. I'm going to be
- 6:26humiliated in this society. Now, I'm
- 6:28never going to get invited over to their
- 6:29house again. Etc. etc. etc.
- 6:32Meaning, if you're going to stand up for
- 6:33justice, you're going to lose somebody.
- 6:36So, Allah says, shuhada'a lillahi.
- 6:38Be witnesses
- 6:40for Allah. And that for Allah means
- 6:43against someone else.
- 6:45Because for Allah means that if I was
- 6:47going to testify for my father's sake,
- 6:50to make sure that my father doesn't get
- 6:52upset, then it's not for Allah anymore.
- 6:54But if I testified for Allah's sake,
- 6:55it's very possible my dad might get very
- 6:57angry.
- 6:58It's very possible my employer that
- 7:00might get very angry. It's very possible
- 7:01all my friends that decided to give the
- 7:04same false testimony, and I decided not
- 7:06to go with them, and I was there, too.
- 7:09I don't go with them. They all I lose a
- 7:10I lose that circle. They're no longer my
- 7:12friend.
- 7:13It's very possible that they next time
- 7:15they testify against me.
- 7:17They And so, I'm bringing a world of
- 7:19trouble on myself when I testify for
- 7:22justice.
- 7:24Shuhada'a lillahi.
- 7:26Now, Allah adds, this is the opening.
- 7:27This is what I talked about in some
- 7:29detail last time. Walau ala anfusikum.
- 7:32Now, Allah says, and you better get up
- 7:34every time and speak what the truth is
- 7:37in whatever situation, personal, family,
- 7:40business, friends, political, whatever
- 7:42situation, even
- 7:45if that testimony goes against
- 7:48yourselves.
- 7:50This means a few things. What does it
- 7:51mean it goes against yourself? It might
- 7:53mean that you did something wrong and
- 7:54you're testifying here, I messed up.
- 7:57I said that I shouldn't have said that.
- 7:58Meaning you're admitting your fault.
- 8:00That's one of the meanings, that's
- 8:01obvious.
- 8:02Another meaning is even if it's not
- 8:04against your own mistake,
- 8:06but you testifying is going to bring
- 8:08harm to you.
- 8:10You will testify and it will go against
- 8:12you in some way.
- 8:13You testify and now you made a new enemy
- 8:16that you didn't want. That enemy is
- 8:17dangerous. He's already hurt a lot of
- 8:19other people. She's already hurt a lot
- 8:20of other people. And you by correctly
- 8:22testifying have turned her or his
- 8:25rageful eyes towards you.
- 8:27So you brought harm upon yourself. Allah
- 8:29says, "Even if it brings harm upon
- 8:30yourself, testify."
- 8:35Even if your testimony harms or goes
- 8:38against both parents.
- 8:40So one meaning of that is maybe the two
- 8:42parents, by the way, all human beings
- 8:45are flawed.
- 8:46All human being Nobody's perfect. You
- 8:48know what that also means? Shocker, no
- 8:50parents are perfect.
- 8:52You know, in the end, we have in Islam
- 8:55the highest respect for our parents, but
- 8:58that does not give them the rank of
- 9:00angels. They're also human beings.
- 9:02They can also have greed. They can also
- 9:04have jealousy. They can also have
- 9:05injustice. Somebody's father is also a
- 9:07thief.
- 9:09Somebody's mother is also testifying
- 9:10falsely. Somebody's father and mother
- 9:12also doing riba. These evil things are
- 9:14happening by somebody's father and
- 9:15somebody's mother also.
- 9:17And now if you have to testify against
- 9:19the evil that's happening, sometimes you
- 9:21might even have to testify against both
- 9:22parents.
- 9:24Or against the will of the parents.
- 9:26Parents come and say, "Hey, I know you
- 9:28saw what happened. I know you want to
- 9:29speak up, but I'm telling you as your
- 9:31father and I'm telling you as your
- 9:33mother, don't get involved."
- 9:36That's not your problem. Don't just this
- 9:37shut up.
- 9:38Listen to your parents. Don't say
- 9:40anything.
- 9:41We don't talk about that. That's If you
- 9:43speak about that, it's going to make us
- 9:44look bad in the family.
- 9:46Et cetera, et cetera.
- 9:48I will walidain, even if the parents are
- 9:50putting pressure on you not to speak up.
- 9:53Even if the it goes and eventually even
- 9:55harms the parents in some way. If it's
- 9:57the right testimony for the sake of
- 9:59Allah, nobody gets in the way.
- 10:05There's no possibility of obeying any
- 10:06any of Allah's creation when it come if
- 10:09you have to disobey the creator to do
- 10:10it. And what's the what's the obedience
- 10:12of Allah here? Testifying truthfully.
- 10:15Speaking of the truth when you know the
- 10:16truth.
- 10:21wal aqrabin, and then the closest
- 10:23relatives.
- 10:24And some of you might say that's easy. I
- 10:25don't like my close relatives anyway.
- 10:27I'll easily testify against them.
- 10:29Right.
- 10:30The problem here is the Arabs, for them,
- 10:33the close relatives were the tribe.
- 10:35And the tribe was your identity. It was
- 10:37your security. It was your lifeline.
- 10:40Somebody might take your head off, and
- 10:42then they realize you're from that
- 10:43tribe, might spare you.
- 10:45That was your security net.
- 10:47That was the thing that buffered you.
- 10:49That was your passport. That was your
- 10:50citizenship.
- 10:51So, al aqrabin is broader than just your
- 10:53family.
- 10:54It has deeper meaning.
- 10:56Today it might be that the your buffer,
- 10:58your security buffer, might be something
- 11:01that you lose your job security.
- 11:03You might lose your place in the in the
- 11:05in the family business or something. Aw
- 11:07al aqrabin.
- 11:08Then Allah says in yakun ghaniyan aw
- 11:10faqiran.
- 11:12Stop. Don't don't get in the way of the
- 11:14correct testimony thinking about whether
- 11:16the person you're testifying against or
- 11:18the speak that the the thing you're
- 11:19going to say, is it going to harm
- 11:21someone rich or is it going to harm
- 11:22someone poor?
- 11:24That doesn't factor into the testimony.
- 11:26If it harms someone rich, you might get
- 11:28scared and say, "Well, they got money,
- 11:30and if it harms them, they're going to
- 11:31take revenge from me. So, I better not
- 11:33mess with this rich guy or these rich
- 11:34people. I'm not going to testify against
- 11:36them.
- 11:37If it's against some someone poor and
- 11:39you testify, you say, "Oh, this is
- 11:41already poor guy. He's already got a
- 11:42tough life. Me testifying against him is
- 11:44going to make things even harder. Let it
- 11:46slide."
- 11:48Right? So, either you get afraid to
- 11:49testify because you're intimidated by
- 11:51someone's wealth
- 11:52or maybe you might even want to win
- 11:54their favor by not testifying. They
- 11:55might do you a favor. They might give
- 11:57you a promotion. Might give your son a
- 11:59job, something. Right? So, might come
- 12:01with some benefits. And not testifying
- 12:04against someone poor, you might pity
- 12:05them and might let them go.
- 12:07Allah says, "When it comes to justice
- 12:08for me, these feelings of yours, you
- 12:10have to put them aside. These fears and
- 12:12these biases, you have to put them
- 12:13aside. Just testify."
- 12:22And after making all of this list, which
- 12:23started with myself, of course, the one
- 12:25the one person I'm looking out for more
- 12:27than anyone else is myself. And Allah
- 12:29started with that. When it comes to true
- 12:31testimony,
- 12:33you need to be willing to sacrifice
- 12:34yourself.
- 12:36That's where he started.
- 12:37Then he says,
- 12:40"Allah comes before before all of them."
- 12:44Allah comes before both of them, you
- 12:46know?
- 12:47Meaning that Allah is priority over the
- 12:49rich one. Allah is priority over the
- 12:50poor one.
- 12:52There's no These are not priorities for
- 12:54you. Allah is priority. When Allah gives
- 12:56his word, that's it. That's the end of
- 12:57it.
- 12:58Now,
- 12:59this part of the ayah is telling us the
- 13:02people
- 13:04that have influence on us, including
- 13:06ourselves, that get in the way of
- 13:08speaking the truth
- 13:10or standing up for what is fair, what is
- 13:11right. Yeah?
- 13:13The next part of the ayah, still on one
- 13:15all one ayah.
- 13:17Allah now describes something happening
- 13:19deep inside ourselves, inside each
- 13:21person, inside me, inside you.
- 13:25and ta'dilu.
- 13:27Don't end up following feelings, empty
- 13:30feelings that keep you from being fair.
- 13:34Don't end up following empty feelings
- 13:36that keep you from being fair. Now, the
- 13:38word for fairness here
- 13:40is the second word. The first word used
- 13:42in this ayah was al-qist.
- 13:45Allah in the beginning said, "Kunu
- 13:46qawwamīn shuhadā'a bil-qist."
- 13:49Shuhadā'a bil-qist lillāh in the
- 13:51beginning of this ayah. Now, he's not
- 13:53using the word qist.
- 13:54He's using the word al-'adl, and a
- 13:56different word, and ta'dilu.
- 13:59The word 'adl in Arabic has to do with
- 14:01equal.
- 14:02Has to do with fair share.
- 14:04'Adala, everybody got an equal share.
- 14:06Everybody got a fair share, right?
- 14:09And this idea is your feelings get in
- 14:12the way and say, "This person deserves
- 14:13less because I don't like them.
- 14:15This person said this, this, this, and
- 14:17therefore they should not have as much
- 14:18as this person or the other person."
- 14:20Or implicitly, you know, for example,
- 14:22there's a father who loves one of his
- 14:23sons and is kind of annoyed with the
- 14:24other son.
- 14:26And time comes for inheritance, and he
- 14:27kind of
- 14:29you know, favors one son over the other.
- 14:32The feeling got in the way.
- 14:34The feeling got, "This one used to
- 14:35massage my feet even when he was a
- 14:36teenager. This one was talking back to
- 14:38me. He should not get a piece of the
- 14:40This one gets the BMW, this one gets the
- 14:431987 Hyundai."
- 14:45Right? That's cuz they both got a car,
- 14:47so you know. No, no, no.
- 14:48Your Your feelings cannot get in the way
- 14:51of being fair.
- 14:53Your feelings cannot allow you to be
- 14:55biased one way or the other.
- 14:57This is extremely important because
- 14:58there are people that we want to do more
- 15:00for more than they deserve because we
- 15:02love them.
- 15:04There are people that we want to deprive
- 15:06because we hate them.
- 15:09There are people that we want to cause
- 15:10harm to because we don't like them.
- 15:13Because they were we were hurt by
- 15:14something they did or something they
- 15:15said. We just want to see them suffer.
- 15:17The feeling,
- 15:19the need for revenge, the feeling of
- 15:21being humiliated, the feeling of being
- 15:23one-upped by somebody. Now you want to
- 15:25satisfy that feeling and when justice
- 15:27comes in front of you, you say, "No, no,
- 15:28no, no justice, excuse me. Go to the
- 15:30side. I need to follow my feelings right
- 15:32now."
- 15:33And then someone reminds you, "Hey, fear
- 15:35Allah. What you're doing is unfair. What
- 15:37you're saying isn't true. What you're
- 15:38saying is a lie."
- 15:40You know that it's a lie. Don't do it.
- 15:42You don't know what this person did.
- 15:44You don't know how they made me feel.
- 15:46As if
- 15:47justice can be put on the side because
- 15:49of how you feel.
- 15:51This is exactly what Allah is saying. Do
- 15:53not follow your feelings to let them get
- 15:56in the way of justice.
- 16:02Then this this whole concept of justice
- 16:06takes another step.
- 16:08People say, "No, no, no, fine. I'm not
- 16:09being unfair. Fine, fine, fine. I'll be
- 16:11fair."
- 16:12But there are plenty of ways to play
- 16:13games with justice.
- 16:15There's plenty of ways and Allah
- 16:17mentioned two ways. You can be unjust.
- 16:20You can violate what Allah is teaching
- 16:22you. You can violate it and be slick
- 16:25about it and nobody will catch you.
- 16:28Except Allah.
- 16:29But everybody will think you you're
- 16:31right.
- 16:32First tactic you can use if you want to
- 16:34be really unfair while wearing the
- 16:36disguise of fairness.
- 16:38While be you can be the the villain, you
- 16:40can be the oppressor while while wearing
- 16:42the disguise of the oppressed.
- 16:45You can be the perpetrator
- 16:47while wearing the the disguise of the
- 16:49victim.
- 16:50It's very easy.
- 16:53If you just twist The word Allah uses is
- 16:56twist. Let's focus on this word for a
- 16:58minute. I know I'm supposed to
- 16:59end at 3:00. I'm going to take 5
- 17:01minutes. I promise you. 5 minutes is I I
- 17:02don't mean Muslim 5 minutes. I mean 5
- 17:04minutes.
- 17:05Okay?
- 17:06If you twist Let's just talk I won't
- 17:08even talk about the second tactic. I'll
- 17:09just talk about this one tactic. If you
- 17:11twist The word lawa in Arabic is used
- 17:13for a tree that wraps or the kind of
- 17:16plant that wraps itself around other
- 17:18trees and then squeezes them.
- 17:20Yeah? [clears throat] That's what it's
- 17:21used for. It's also used for the tail of
- 17:23a scorpion that's always bent.
- 17:25Yeah? From this comes the idea that
- 17:27there are people
- 17:29who wrap them They They find someone to
- 17:30talk to. Like for example, you stole
- 17:32money. I'm not saying you, hypothetical
- 17:34you, stole money.
- 17:36And you're about to get caught.
- 17:38So, before you get caught,
- 17:40you go to someone and say, "You know, I
- 17:42was working so hard and these people
- 17:44didn't pay me for several months and my
- 17:46boss is so oppressive and it was such a
- 17:48bad and you know this person is a
- 17:49soft-hearted person, you start crying in
- 17:51front of them telling them an entire
- 17:52mythology that you created about how
- 17:54oppressed you were and you just wanted
- 17:56your paycheck." And you don't mention
- 17:58anything about the
- 17:59couple of million you conveniently
- 18:01withdrew for yourself. "I did so much
- 18:03for him. I did this and I did this. And
- 18:05now they're accusing me Astaghfirullah,
- 18:06I can't even tell you what they're
- 18:07accusing me of." The cops are after you,
- 18:09bro, like
- 18:11But they know how to spin a story. And
- 18:13they can get someone to cry for them.
- 18:15They can get somebody to feel bad for
- 18:17them.
- 18:18They know what disguise to put on in
- 18:20front of what person.
- 18:22Oh, this person has a soft corner for
- 18:23children? Let me talk to them about my
- 18:25kids and how bad they feel. This person
- 18:27cares a lot about, you know, Islam? Let
- 18:29me quote some ayat and a hadith when I
- 18:31tell my story to this person. They know
- 18:33how to put on the disguise that they
- 18:35need to to manipulate the opinions of
- 18:38others because if they can twist enough
- 18:40people's minds and a bunch of people
- 18:42start saying, "Yeah, this person is the
- 18:44victim." You no longer need justice
- 18:46because the popular opinion is this is
- 18:47the right This is the victim.
- 18:49And you can play that game.
- 18:51You can be very good at playing that
- 18:53game.
- 18:54You can also twist words by not saying
- 18:56what happened. You know, uh politicians
- 18:58are very good at this. "Did you or did
- 19:00you not sign this document?"
- 19:02Senate hearing.
- 19:03The guy says, "Yeah, when I was five, I
- 19:05went to kindergarten and
- 19:06Nobody asked you."
- 19:08You're going everywhere in in universe
- 19:10except a yes or a no.
- 19:12Right? You can't do it because this is
- 19:14intel woo.
- 19:15You twist. You word You play word games.
- 19:18You're not straightforward. This is the
- 19:19opposite of qawlan sadida, speak
- 19:21straightforward.
- 19:23Some people, men and women, master this
- 19:26technique.
- 19:27They master twisting words, manipulating
- 19:30communications, talking to this person
- 19:33in this way, that person in that way,
- 19:34that person in that way. In their mind,
- 19:36people are just pawns. You're supposed
- 19:38to just turn them like chess pieces. I
- 19:40want to turn this person's focus this
- 19:42way, this person's focus that way. I
- 19:43want to turn this one against them, that
- 19:45one against them, that one against them,
- 19:46that one against them. And then I can
- 19:47slip through.
- 19:48When tell woo.
- 19:50Now, I'm telling you all of this because
- 19:52people that do this, right? They might
- 19:53be in your family. Some of Some of you
- 19:55are sitting here listening to this like
- 19:56I can think of someone in my in-laws
- 19:57that are very good at this. Like
- 19:59Don't.
- 20:00Try not to.
- 20:02But as you're thinking about that, just
- 20:04know something. They get away with it.
- 20:07They don't get caught.
- 20:09There's no way to catch their
- 20:10manipulations. They're very good at
- 20:11doing this
- 20:13without a clean record. That's not what
- 20:15I said.
- 20:17I didn't I don't remember saying that.
- 20:19What are you talking about? I would
- 20:20never say that.
- 20:22No, no, no. This person's lying. This
- 20:24person's doing this. What I actually
- 20:26meant was this. They know how to rewrite
- 20:28the history.
- 20:29They know how to retell the story.
- 20:31Flip it every time. And you're like, how
- 20:32do I How do I deal with this person?
- 20:34They're like, you know, like a snake
- 20:36that keeps twisting. Like you can't
- 20:37catch them in a straight line.
- 20:39What does Allah say at the end of that
- 20:41ayah? If you are going to play this
- 20:42game,
- 20:44Allah didn't say in this ayah that you
- 20:46will be exposed. That's not what Allah
- 20:48said. Allah said, "Inna Allaha kana bi
- 20:50ma ta'maluna khabira."
- 20:52Then Allah has had full news of
- 20:53everything you've been up to. Every
- 20:54twist and every turn and every
- 20:56manipulation that nobody caught.
- 20:59You never went to court for it.
- 21:01Nobody held you accountable for it. You
- 21:03got away with it clean.
- 21:05The The The wolf successfully pretended
- 21:07to be the sheep.
- 21:09Yeah?
- 21:10The the the the the snake successfully
- 21:13coming off as the rabbit.
- 21:15Every time.
- 21:17And Allah says, "Congratulations. I've
- 21:19kept record of every one of your twists
- 21:21and turns."
- 21:26And you're like, "Okay, okay, yeah,
- 21:27Allah knows. I got it. Uh-huh. At least
- 21:28at least I won the lawsuit."
- 21:31Allah got it, but at least I didn't have
- 21:32to pay the money back.
- 21:33I got away with it.
- 21:35Yeah, yeah. I got But at least I got my
- 21:37revenge.
- 21:38You know, in the next ayah Allah This
- 21:40ayah was about justice. The next ayah is
- 21:42ya ayyuha alladhina amanu aminu billahi
- 21:44wa rasulih.
- 21:45Those of you who believe actually
- 21:46believe. Meaning, this is not just a
- 21:48matter of justice. This is a matter of
- 21:49faith itself. If standing in front of
- 21:52Allah doesn't scare you, do you even
- 21:54believe in Allah?
- 21:56Is that even faith?
- 21:58I mean, if that level of injustice
- 22:00doesn't bother you,
- 22:02and Allah threatening you directly that
- 22:03I know I'm going to deal with you,
- 22:05that's not enough for you to stop you in
- 22:07your tracks
- 22:09and to rethink your behavior, and you
- 22:11continue to twist and plot,
- 22:14then the only one to deal with is Allah.
- 22:16And that's why in this set of ayat
- 22:17you'll also find alladhina kafaru
- 22:20alladhina amanu thumma kafaru thumma
- 22:22amanu thumma kafaru thumma azdadu
- 22:24kufran.
- 22:25Those who claim to believe, then they
- 22:27disbelieve, then they believe, then they
- 22:29disbelieve. We know in this in in Medina
- 22:31nobody accepted Islam and rejected Islam
- 22:33and accepted Islam and rejected. That
- 22:34never happened. Not on the outside.
- 22:37This is talking about what's happening
- 22:39on the inside.
- 22:41They got their act together, then they
- 22:43twisted and turned again, then they got
- 22:44their act together, then they played
- 22:45more manipulations. This is the story of
- 22:47the munafiqun.
- 22:48That's why in the next ayah after
- 22:49alladhina am alladhina amanu thumma
- 22:51kafaru thumma amanu thumma kafaru thumma
- 22:53azdadu kufran, next ayah bashshir
- 22:55al-munafiqin.
- 22:56Bi-annahum adhabun alim. Congratulate
- 22:58the hypocrites.
- 23:00That that was about hypocrites.
- 23:02Allah Azza wa Jal protect all of us from
- 23:03falling into that hypocrisy.
- 23:05>> [snorts]
- 23:05>> And Allah Azza wa Jal protect us from
- 23:06those who twist their tongues and
- 23:08manipulate the truth for their ends. And
- 23:10may Allah Azza wa Jal not make us of
- 23:12those who fall into these traps and
- 23:13those that are committed to Allah's
- 23:14justice because that is a that is a
- 23:16testimony to our own Iman. Barakallahu
- 23:19lakum fil Quranil Hakeem wa nafa'ani wa
- 23:20iyyakum bil ayat wadh dhikril Hakeem.
