- 1:37As you all know, this has been a labor
- 1:40of love for me.
- 1:42Trains have always been a part of my
- 1:44life. Until his [music] death, my father
- 1:47was a train engineer.
- 1:50I grew up listening to him [music] tell
- 1:52stories of his travels across America
- 1:54driving these great engines and
- 1:59it seems I've inherited his love of
- 2:01trains [music] because I am thrilled to
- 2:04be the curator of this wonderful museum.
- 2:07[applause]
- 2:10You all have been so great and there is

- 2:26You are great, Ellie. It's really
- 2:28impressive what you've managed to create
- 2:30here. Now, if you could just transfer
- 2:33that passion into meeting someone else,
- 2:35that would really be worth celebrating.

- 2:40now? I
- 2:41>> Hey, how are you, Mike?

- 2:53I've got a friend who's dying to meet

- 3:05>> Coming up on two years.

- 30:27is a fever. [music]
- 30:32Oh my
- 30:35love so profound
- 30:39forever.
- 30:41[music]
- 30:48>> [snorts]
- 30:48>> History
- 30:50is a game.
- 30:53I love [music] you so much. You can't
- 30:55stop me now.
- 31:13Jamie, I'm sorry, but we can't go.
- 31:16That's all there is to it.
- 31:18Give me that wrench.
- 31:19>> Oh, but Dad, you promise.
- 31:21>> Jamie, that's enough.
- 31:33>> When did they say it'd be ready?
- 31:35>> Uh, it's looking like tomorrow morning
- 31:38at the earliest.
- 31:39>> Can I give you guys a ride somewhere?
- 31:40Um,
- 31:41>> no thanks. We're good.
- 31:43>> You sure? I I don't mind.
- 31:45>> Yeah, but thanks, though.
- 31:48Sorry. You said your name's Gabe, right?
- 31:51>> Yeah, that's right. I
- 31:53>> I don't know if you guys have plans, but
- 31:55I was telling Jamie I work right down
- 31:56the street at the train museum. If you'd
- 31:58like, I could show you around.
- 32:00>> Uh, no, that's okay. But but thanks,
- 32:02though.
- 32:03>> You sure? It would be just us. The
- 32:05museum's closed today. Kind of like our
- 32:07own private tour.
- 32:12>> Well, in that case, how can we say no?
- 32:16Great.
- 32:37>> Whoa. Can I do that again? Go for it.
- 32:42>> What do you think? You got a future
- 32:43engineer on your hands? Yeah, you'd make
- 32:44a good one. Boy's got eagle eyes
- 32:55for him.
- 33:02[music]
- 33:11>> [music]
- 33:23>> Wonderful mother, outstanding doctor,
- 33:27the best business partner you could ask
- 33:29for.
- 33:31I don't care what kind of problems she
- 33:33and Daniel might have had. She didn't
- 33:35deserve to die like that.
- 33:37>> Well, you have my condolences.
- 33:39>> I can only imagine what you and your
- 33:41family must be going through.
- 33:45>> I understand you got my name through
- 33:47Kenny Marco. He tells me you're the man
- 33:49to talk to.
- 33:52I take it you're a gambling man. I've
- 33:54been known to place a bet every now and
- 33:56then. Yeah.
- 33:58So, what can I do for you, doctor?
- 34:02Kenny tells me you're one of the best
- 34:04investigators in the business.
- 34:05>> 25 years Concord PD before going private
- 34:08sector. I think I know a few things.
- 34:10>> He tells me you have a reputation for
- 34:12being um discreet.
- 34:14>> Can be when I have to.
- 34:16>> Says you're a man who gets the job done.
- 34:20>> You want me to find your brother-in-law,
- 34:22Daniel?
- 34:24>> Yeah.
- 34:25>> Tell me about him. I understand he has a
- 34:27history of mental problems.
- 34:29>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I knew he had
- 34:31problems, but I can't believe it. I
- 34:35can't believe what he did to my sister.
- 34:38So, we have to find them. And we have to
- 34:41find Jamie. Because if anything happens
- 34:43to that boy,
- 34:46I couldn't live with myself.
- 35:02Here we go. Food.
- 35:05>> Oh, you didn't have to do that.
- 35:07>> Are you kidding? First rule of junk
- 35:09food. Calories don't count if you eat it
- 35:11with friends.
- 35:12>> Thanks.
- 35:12>> I'll keep that in mind.
- 35:15>> This is great. I can't thank you enough.
- 35:20You made his day. What am I saying? You
- 35:22made his year.
- 35:25Well, I'm glad he's a good kid.
- 35:28>> Yeah.
- 35:29>> Yeah, he sure is.
- 35:32>> Hey, Dad. Let's go over here.
- 35:53Be careful. You're in danger.
- 35:55>> Hey, Ellie, come over here.
- 36:17>> [music]
- 36:27[music]
- 36:41>> Please stop
- 36:43please.
- 37:47We just have to stay out of sight. safe
- 37:49for now. I I know it's hard for you, but
- 37:51believe me, everything's going to be
- 37:53okay, Jay.
- 37:56I'm not going to let anything happen to
- 37:57you.
- 37:59Okay,
- 38:01let's go.
- 38:11[snorts]
- 38:16How is this possible?
- 38:18Who are you and why are [music] you
- 38:21following these people? That's my
- 38:23husband and son and he has to pay for
- 38:26killing me.
- 38:34It's unbearable.
- 38:37No one should have to suffer like this.
- 38:45>> [music]
- 38:45>> At first it felt like I'd been kicked
- 38:52and then it turned to fire.
- 38:57And it burns and it burns [music] and I
- 38:59can't make it stop.
- 39:03And do you know what he did then?
- 39:09I was trying to get to the phone.
- 39:14It wasn't enough that he shot me. No,
- 39:18not for him. It wasn't enough.
- 39:23He put the gun to my neck like like I
- 39:27was some kind of an animal in a
- 39:29slaughter house.
- 39:33And then it was over.
- 39:37My son,
- 39:41my life.
- 39:44It was over.
- 39:48Why?
- 39:51Why would he do this? I don't know. I
- 39:55just don't know. He He just killed you
- 39:58out of out of the blue for no reason.
- 40:01>> All I know is [music] he is sick. He is
- 40:03a murderer. But surely there had to be a
- 40:06a reason. Were you fighting? I I mean,
- 40:09there had to be something that led up to
- 40:11this.
- 40:14Think about it. What [music] were you
- 40:15doing before this happened?
- 40:19>> Too, too easy going.
- 40:22>> Taylor, just calm down. Just talk.
- 40:24>> You're right. There was something we
- 40:26were we were fighting
- 40:29about. What?
- 40:31I don't remember.
- 40:33Don't you have any idea? I
- 40:35>> I wish I did. All I know is that you
- 40:37have to help me. You have to help my
- 40:39little boy.
- 40:43>> He's killed once already. What is to
- 40:45stop him from killing again?
- 41:06Now go to bed. I told you I'll be back
- 41:10in 5 minutes.
- 41:26>> I want to stay by myself. I'm just going
- 41:29to the store. But I told you I'll be
- 41:31right back.
- 41:32>> I want to come.
- 41:36>> Okay, come on. Let's go.
- 41:49>> I think it's time you called the police.
- 42:04Are you all right?
- 42:07I've had better days.
- 42:10You probably don't know, but this is all
- 42:12kind of new to me, and it's kind of a
- 42:15lot to take in all at once. You know
- 42:16what I mean? Then you should call the
- 42:18police. The sooner the better.
- 42:25You do realize that I can't say anything
- 42:27about you, right? I can't possibly
- 42:29explain this.
- 42:31All I can do is tell them where they
- 42:33are. Anything more, they'll think I'm
- 42:35crazy. Fine, [music] let's get on with
- 42:38it.
- 42:41I'll deal with it first thing in the
- 42:42morning. I have a feeling there's
- 42:45something you're not telling me.
- 43:02Hey Sarah, you see that funny ringing
- 43:04thing on your desk? It's pretty cool,
- 43:05actually, cuz if you pick it up, it
- 43:06stops ringing.
- 43:10>> This is Detective Hail. How can I help
- 43:12you?
- 43:14>> Yes, I I'm calling about a crime I
- 43:17believe took place down in Conquer. What
- 43:19kind of crime?
- 43:21>> A murder.
- 43:23>> Her name um was
- 43:25>> Taylor Nicholson and she she was killed
- 43:27a few days ago, I think.
- 43:30>> I have information about her husband and
- 43:33her little boy.
- 43:34>> And what would that be exactly?
- 43:37>> I think I've seen them.
- 43:38>> Where was that, ma'am?
- 43:41>> Here in Boston.
- 43:44>> Okay. Uh well, let's start by getting
- 43:47your name and address. Okay.
- 43:49>> Do you need that? Is that really
- 43:51necessary?
- 43:52>> Is that a problem?
- 43:54>> No. I I It's just I I [music] don't
- 43:57really want to get involved.
- 43:59>> I understand.
- 44:00>> And I assure you, we will do everything
- 44:03in our power to respect your privacy.
- 44:07>> Ma'am,
- 44:09are you there?
- 44:11>> Yes.
- 44:12>> Have you had direct contact with Mr.
- 44:14Nicholson or his son? Have you reasoned
- 44:17to believe your personal safety may be
- 44:20in jeopardy?
- 44:21>> No, I I I mean I don't holding
- 44:23controlled by herself, her husband.
- 44:25>> I'm sorry.
- 44:26>> Going to have to call you back.
- 44:27>> No, Matt. I
- 44:30>> Please tell me you got that, Bobby.
- 44:32>> No problem.
- 44:36>> Number's up in Boston.
- 44:38[music]
- 44:39>> Confirmed that on the day Dr. Nicholson
- 44:41was murdered. She had been notified
- 44:42through her attorney that federal
- 44:44prosecutors were [music] about to issue
- 44:45an indictment charging her with multiple
- 44:47counts of fraud stemming from an ongoing
- 44:49investigation into fraudulent Medicare
- 44:51billing practices. [music] According to
- 44:53the indictment, Dr. Nicholson allegedly
- 44:55siphoned over $1.5 million in fraudulent
- 44:58Medicare [music] billings through a
- 45:00numbered holding company controlled by
- 45:02herself, her husband, and [music] her
- 45:04brother, Dr. William Shaw. We are told
- 45:06that her brother, Dr. Shaw has denied
- 45:08any knowledge or involvement and has
- 45:10since pledged his full [music]
- 45:11cooperation with the authorities.
- 45:15>> Possible sighting, I take it.
- 45:17>> What do you think? Maybe legit?
- 45:19>> I don't know. Maybe. She sounded scared.
- 45:22>> You think we should call Boston?
- 45:24>> Let's do it. This woman's hiding
- 45:26something. I want to know what.
- 45:31>> Well, it's uh Mr. Mater calling for you.
- 45:34>> Oh, okay. Thanks, sweetheart. Listen.
- 45:37Um, give me a minute.
- 45:42>> Yes, it's Dr. Shaw.
- 45:44>> Yeah. A quick question for you, doctor.
- 45:46Does the name Eleanor Loren Daly mean
- 45:48anything to you?
- 45:49>> No. No, I don't think so. Why? What's
- 45:52going on? [music]
- 45:53>> Well, police got a tip. Nothing firm as
- 45:55of yet, but it might be something.
- 45:57>> So, what does that mean? You going to go
- 45:59check it out?
- 46:00>> Well, I got to get your okay first. It's
- 46:02your dime.
- 46:02>> No, no, no. You don't worry about that.
- 46:04All right. You just worry about finding
- 46:06Daniel and Jamie. Whatever it takes,
- 46:09just find them.
- 46:18Come on, Jamie. You still in bed?
- 46:21Brought us some breakfast.
- 46:32>> Daddy.
- 46:33>> Jamie. What is this?
- 46:41>> I found them in the halls.
- 46:44I thought people would see them, so I
- 46:46took all of them. [music]
- 46:58>> So, here's the question of the day,
- 47:00kids. Why does a civil servant never
- 47:02open his eyes before lunch?
- 47:04>> It's true.
- 47:06>> He's got to have something to do in the
- 47:07afternoon.
- 47:09>> Coming from anybody else, then be
- 47:10fighting words, my friend.
- 47:12>> You know, for a guy who's gone private
- 47:13sector, you sure can't seem to get
- 47:14enough of the place, can you, Jeff?
- 47:17>> I'm doing a little freelance work on the
- 47:18Nicholson case. In fact, I just spoke to
- 47:20the boss. He tells me you might have got
- 47:22a promising tip out of Boston.
- 47:24>> Boston PD's checking on it even as we
- 47:26speak. Yeah,
- 47:26>> tell me about it.
- 47:36Yes.
- 47:38>> Morning. I'm Detective Brock, Boston PD.
- 47:42I'm looking for Eleanor Daily. I assume
- 47:44that would be you.
- 47:45>> Can I help you?
- 47:46>> Just following up on a request from the
- 47:48Concord PD. Apparently, you called in
- 47:50about a possible sighting
- 47:53in the Nicholson case.
- 48:04All right.
- 48:07Spoke to Concord. They're going to try
- 48:08and scan a few more pictures and send
- 48:10them over here within the hour.
- 48:12>> Thank you.
- 48:15>> Assuming that's necessary,
- 48:19right?
- 48:21I mean, come on. Let's keep it real. It
- 48:23is not that complicated either. These
- 48:25are the people you saw or they're not.
- 48:28>> Why don't you tell them, Ellie? Why are
- 48:30you protecting him?
- 48:32>> Either way, I mean, I failed to see what
- 48:34the problem is. I mean, you tell us
- 48:35where they are, we go check them out. If
- 48:37it's not them,
- 48:38>> so what? No harm, no foul.
- 48:43But on the other hand, if it is them,
- 48:45[music] the killer gets brought to
- 48:47justice. That little boy gets to go home
- 48:49to his family, and you get to be the
- 48:50hero.
- 48:52Everyone lives happily ever after.
- 48:55Doesn't that sound nice?
- 48:59>> Unless
- 49:01Unless there's a reason why
- 49:04you feel you need to protect this guy.
- 49:07>> Tell him, Ellie.
- 49:10>> Huh? See, now if that's the case, we're
- 49:12talking a whole another ball game.
- 49:14>> Damn it. Tell him. Tell him now.
- 49:19>> I'm sorry. I I was mistaken. These
- 49:23aren't the people I saw.
- 49:26>> I don't know why I was something in my
- 49:28gut tells me you're lying.
- 49:29>> She sure as hell is. And why is that?
- 49:31Huh?
- 49:32>> You know what? Am I under arrest? If I'm
- 49:35not, I need to leave. And if I am, I'm
- 49:38not saying another word without a
- 49:39lawyer.
- 49:41>> Well, you're free to go.
- 49:45Just so [music] we're clear, if you're
- 49:48lying to me, I'm going to find out. And
- 49:50if that happens, in other words, if I
- 49:51find that you've been withholding
- 49:52evidence and or aiding in abetting a
- 49:55wanted fugitive in any way, shape, or
- 49:57form, I'll see you due time.
- 50:03Got my word on that. [music]
- 50:16What is wrong with you? How can you do
- 50:17this? I trusted you. You have to tell
- 50:20him.
- 50:21>> You liked him.
- 50:22>> What were you talking about?
- 50:22>> Oh, I don't know. Oh, yeah. That's
- 50:24right. Something about being indicted
- 50:26for fraud. Some kind of bogus Medicare
- 50:28scam, I think they said. Does that ring
- 50:29any bells? I think they said it was
- 50:31close to $1.5 million. Even for somebody
- 50:34rich, that's not the kind of thing you
- 50:36usually forget.
- 50:37>> I forgot. I am sorry. I just forgot.
- 50:40>> How convenient. I didn't mean to.
- 50:44Just out of curiosity, is there anything
- 50:46else you forgot here? Any other little
- 50:48details you neglected to mention?
- 50:49>> It doesn't matter. It changes nothing.
- 50:52>> Says you.
- 50:52>> What do I have to do to convince you?
- 50:54What do I have to say? Why won't you
- 50:56listen to me?
- 50:56>> My dad used to say there are [music]
- 50:58three sides to every story. Your side,
- 51:00the other guys, and what really
- 51:01happened. I want to know what he has to
- 51:04say.
- 51:04>> Are you insane? Do you actually think
- 51:06you can reason with this man?
- 51:09>> You know what? Just leave me alone.
- 51:11Okay. I I I just need to think. I don't
- 51:13need you. I don't need the police or
- 51:15anyone else telling me what to do.
- 51:18What? You never seen anyone talk to a
- 51:21ghost before?
- 51:24You're a fool. Did it ever occur to you
- 51:26by the time he's finished talking there
- 51:28will be a bullet through your brain?
- 51:38>> [music]
- 52:26>> Hey buddy,
- 52:28mind if I talk to you for a second?
- 52:31>> I know you miss your mom. I do too.
- 52:35Come on, have a seat. Something I need
- 52:38to say. Okay.
- 52:42something I need you to try to
- 52:43understand.
- 52:47This isn't right. We can't live this
- 52:50way.
- 52:52I can't do this to you.
- 52:54>> It's okay. It's okay.
- 52:55>> Just hear me out. Okay, let me finish
- 52:57what I have to say.
- 53:00I've made a decision.
- 53:02I'm going to go to the police. I'm going
- 53:04to turn myself in.
- 53:05>> No, no, no. You can't do that. Please.
- 53:06>> But first, I'm going to get myself a
- 53:08lawyer. We can move again. It's okay.
- 53:10It's okay.
- 53:11>> I have to. Jamie,
- 53:13>> we just didn't go far enough. That's
- 53:14all.
- 53:15>> I'm sorry, buddy, but no, that's not the
- 53:17answer.
- 53:17>> Yes, it is.
- 53:18>> Jamie, no. Just
- 53:20>> stop.
- 53:23Let me say [music] what I had to say.
- 53:27I'm so sorry.
- 53:30I was such an idiot. I don't know what I
- 53:33was thinking.
- 53:37I panicked. Plain and simple, I
- 53:39panicked.
- 53:41All I did was make [music] things a
- 53:43thousand times worse.
- 53:45>> You said if you go to the police that
- 53:47they'll put you in jail.
- 53:50>> Maybe.
- 53:51Maybe not. I I
- 53:53>> What if they do?
- 53:56Daddy, what if they put you in jail?
- 54:03[sighs]
- 54:05>> Found them. I'm outside their building
- 54:07this very minute.
- 54:08>> You're sure of this? You're absolutely
- 54:10[music] certain.
- 54:11>> Yeah, I saw him myself.
- 54:14>> That's excellent. Then that's great
- 54:15news. [music] Great news.
- 54:17>> Okay. Um, so my question to you now that
- 54:19I found them is what do you want me to
- 54:20do about it?
- 54:22>> Just sit tight. Okay.
- 54:24>> You don't want me to call the cops?
- 54:26>> No, no, just hold off on that if that's
- 54:28okay with you. I I think I'd like to be
- 54:30there for that.
- 54:31>> You really think that's a good idea? You
- 54:34>> keep your phone on and I'll be in touch.
- 54:39What's going on?
- 54:41>> Nothing important. [music] Just a
- 54:43hospital business I got to take care of.
- 54:45>> Okay. Don't be long, honey.
- 55:21I'm sorry.
- 55:24I guess I'm not the best company right
- 55:26now, am I?
- 55:28>> You're just tired.
- 55:30Need to get you home and straight to
- 55:31bed.
- 55:33too good for me. You know that.
- 55:36>> I don't deserve you.
- 55:39>> True. And
- 55:40>> as long as [music] you always remember
- 55:42that, we'll be just fine.
- 55:43>> Yeah, I will.
- 55:46>> Hey,
- 55:48a couple more weeks, I'll put the
- 55:49Andress Project to bed.
- 55:52>> What do you say you and I we go to the
- 55:54beach?
- 55:55>> I'd love that. That sounds like
- 56:09He's still in pain, you know.
- 56:12How do you know that?
- 56:14I can feel him.
- 56:16He can't move on. He cannot rest.
- 56:20His work here isn't finished.
- 56:24Just like me.
- 56:26Not until I see Daniel brought to
- 56:28justice. Not until I know my baby is
- 56:31safe.
- 56:32>> How do you know that?
- 56:35>> Have you seen him? Do you know where he
- 56:36is?
- 56:38>> Why should I tell you? Why would I help
- 56:41you? You're not my friend.
- 56:43>> I want to help you, Taylor. I really do.
- 56:46I want to do what's right.
- 56:50I just don't know what that is.
- 56:55They cremated my body this morning.
- 56:59I watched them do it.
- 57:04I'm sorry.
- 57:06Doesn't matter. It wasn't me. It was no
- 57:10pain.
- 57:13[music]
- 57:14When they were done,
- 57:16they handed my ashes to my father. He's
- 57:19a proud man, my dad. a good man
- 57:24raised my brother and me all by himself
- 57:27after my mother died.
- 57:30And all my life I only saw him cry
- 57:33twice.
- 57:36Once on the day we buried my mother.
- 57:41And today
- 57:44my father cried today.
- 57:48He cried for me. Yelli,
- 57:51he cried for me.
- 57:57Daniel is a killer.
- 58:00He's already killed once, and if you
- 58:01don't stop him, there's a hell of a good
- 58:04chance he's going to kill again.
- 58:12>> Thank you so much. I sure appreciate
- 58:14your help. I I shouldn't be too long.
- 58:16Well,
- 58:16>> don't worry. Take your time. We've got
- 58:19lots of work to do, huh, Jamie?
- 58:22>> Okay, buddy. You'll be good. All right.
- 58:26I'll be back before you know it. I
- 58:27promise.
- 58:28>> Okay, Dad.
- 58:31>> Come on, Jimmy. We have to take from the
- 58:33whole locker empty because new people
- 58:35come, they have to
- 58:39>> Oh, sorry.
- 58:41>> No, it's okay. Sorry.
- 58:47You know,
- 58:52>> have you told anyone?
- 58:54>> No.
- 58:56>> It's not what you think.
- 59:00>> Tell me what happened.
- 59:03>> This isn't your business.
- 59:05>> I'm afraid actually it is. Look, they're
- 59:08looking for you. Your your pictures on
- 59:10the news and the papers. You can't just
- 59:11expect
- 59:14Honey,
- 59:22>> one sound and I'll blow your head off.
- 59:26You got that?
- 59:31>> Be careful, Ellie.
- 59:35>> Be very, very careful.
- 59:38>> Don't do this.
- 59:38>> Shut up.
- 59:40>> This isn't a good idea. I said shut up.
- 59:44>> Don't say I didn't warn you.
- 59:51>> Just sit tight. Okay.
- 59:52>> Any word on an ETA, doc?
- 59:55>> Yeah, I'll be there in 10 minutes.
- 1:00:02>> Watch what you're doing, Ellie. I don't
- 1:00:04care what they say. The fact is guns
- 1:00:06actually do [music] kill people.
- 1:00:07>> This isn't going to help, Jamie. And
- 1:00:08it's not going to help you.
- 1:00:10>> Go. Come on.
- 1:00:12>> I told you to shut up. WHAT'S WRONG WITH
- 1:00:14YOU?
- 1:00:15>> I'M just I'm trying to help you, okay?
- 1:00:17I'm trying to help.
- 1:00:21Please, this isn't the way. This isn't
- 1:00:23you. [music]
- 1:00:24>> You don't know the first thing about me.
- 1:00:26>> That's not true. I know more about you
- 1:00:29than you think. I know you love your
- 1:00:31son. I know you do anything to protect
- 1:00:33him.
- 1:00:38I know you don't want to do this. I can
- 1:00:39see it in your eyes.
- 1:00:43Just put the gun down,
- 1:00:46please.
- 1:00:49[sighs]
- 1:00:50>> I'm sorry.
- 1:00:52I'm so I'm so sorry.
- 1:00:55Just go.
- 1:00:58It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you.
- 1:01:02I never wanted to hurt anybody.
- 1:01:04>> He is a liar. Ellie, don't be fooled by
- 1:01:07this man. Go. Like he said, go now.
- 1:01:11>> No,
- 1:01:14I want you to tell me what happened.
- 1:01:17I never meant for it to happen.
- 1:01:20I never wanted to hurt her.
- 1:01:24It was my weekend with Jamie. You know,
- 1:01:28I went to the house that night to pick
- 1:01:30him up.
- 1:01:42It was not a good time.
- 1:01:43>> Jamie,
- 1:01:47>> Taylor and I, we were in the middle of
- 1:01:49an ugly divorce.
- 1:01:51>> Taylor,
- 1:01:54it's getting brutal. Taylor was [music]
- 1:01:56trying to obtain sole custody of Jamie.
- 1:01:58She even tried to have me declared an
- 1:02:00unfit parent.
- 1:02:04I could have you arrested. You know,
- 1:02:07this isn't your house anymore. You can't
- 1:02:10come in here without my permission. I
- 1:02:11believe they call that trespassing.
- 1:02:13>> But that night, all I wanted was to
- 1:02:14[music] pick up Jamie and go. I came for
- 1:02:17Jamie. It's my weekend, remember?
- 1:02:20>> Well, he's at Alexander's. I told
- 1:02:22Janelle he could stay over.
- 1:02:25>> Well, fine. Call her and tell her I'll
- 1:02:27pick him up.
- 1:02:34I wish I could say I was surprised.
- 1:02:37This wasn't the first time she pulled a
- 1:02:38stunt like this. And it wasn't the first
- 1:02:41time that she talked about killing
- 1:02:42herself.
- 1:02:43>> That's not true.
- 1:02:45>> This time
- 1:02:47it was different. She was beside
- 1:02:49herself.
- 1:02:50>> Maybe she
- 1:02:52>> said she was going to lose everything.
- 1:02:54Her practice, her reputation, her house,
- 1:02:57her money. Even worse, there was [music]
- 1:02:59a good chance she would end up losing
- 1:03:00the one thing that she truly loved more
- 1:03:02than anything else in the whole world.
- 1:03:05Jamie. She was afraid she [music] was
- 1:03:06going to lose Jamie.
- 1:03:08>> No way. Then I'm going to lose Jamie.
- 1:03:11>> Why?
- 1:03:12>> Because it seems there's a [music] very
- 1:03:13good chance she would end up going to
- 1:03:14jail for a long, long time.
- 1:03:18Turns out her lawyer had told her that
- 1:03:20very afternoon that she was about to be
- 1:03:23indicted on charges of fraud.
- 1:03:27I tried reasoning with her.
- 1:03:28>> You don't understand.
- 1:03:30>> I can't go to prison.
- 1:03:31>> Hoping to calm [music] her fears.
- 1:03:33>> Taylor, I won't.
- 1:03:34>> Just calm down. Let's talk about
- 1:03:35>> I don't want to talk about it. It
- 1:03:37>> was as though she could no longer hear
- 1:03:38anything I was saying. And it was like I
- 1:03:42just went numb, you know? Maybe it was
- 1:03:45just the alcohol talking. I don't know.
- 1:03:47But she was completely out of control.
- 1:03:50>> I'll never see him again. You're going
- 1:03:52to take him away.
- 1:03:53>> Please calm down. Thank you.
- 1:03:54>> You're not going to lose Jamie.
- 1:03:56>> One thing was [music and singing] clear,
- 1:03:56though. When she said she was going to
- 1:03:58kill herself, this time you could tell
- 1:04:01she meant it.
- 1:04:02>> That's not true, Ellie. I would never.
- 1:04:04>> All I could think of was my son,
- 1:04:07my boy. If he was to lose his mother, if
- 1:04:10he was to lose her like this.
- 1:04:15And then I did something very, very
- 1:04:17stupid.
- 1:04:22It
- 1:04:22>> happened so fast.
- 1:04:24I don't think I can even tell you
- 1:04:26exactly what happened.
- 1:04:31>> All I know is we fought for the gun.
- 1:04:36>> Shots were fired and that was it.
- 1:04:39>> No.
- 1:04:48>> I didn't mean to kill her.
- 1:04:49>> Oh, really?
- 1:04:54God knows I didn't mean to.
- 1:04:56>> Then why am I dead? Go ahead, ask him.
- 1:04:59I'm not sure I follow.
- 1:05:01What happened next?
- 1:05:04>> I don't really know. I fell. I hit my
- 1:05:07head.
- 1:05:09The next thing I remember was waking up
- 1:05:11the next morning.
- 1:05:16At first, it took a minute to remember
- 1:05:18where I was,
- 1:05:21but then
- 1:05:23I found her.
- 1:05:26[snorts]
- 1:05:41That was just the beginning of this
- 1:05:42nightmare. Will and Melissa were there,
- 1:05:44my brother and sister-in-law, and I
- 1:05:47[laughter] panicked. I couldn't think
- 1:05:49straight.
- 1:05:51>> She knew her coming this morning.
- 1:05:53>> No matter what I say or do, they're
- 1:05:54going to blame me.
- 1:06:01>> Taylor,
- 1:06:02Jamie, anybody home?
- 1:06:07>> So, I ran. I'm such an idiot.
- 1:06:10>> Oh my god. Melissa, 911 now.
- 1:06:20>> I panicked. All I did was prove I was
- 1:06:22guilty.
- 1:06:23>> No, Ellie, he isn't telling the truth. I
- 1:06:25KNOW WHAT I FELT. THIS I remember. This
- 1:06:28was no accident.
- 1:06:30>> So that's all you You didn't shoot her
- 1:06:35again. You're certain of that?
- 1:06:38>> Of course I didn't.
- 1:06:49It's my brother. He's here.
- 1:06:55>> It's not too late. You You could still
- 1:06:57turn yourself in.
- 1:07:04>> Hi.
- 1:07:06You're in 104.
- 1:07:07>> Did you call the police yet? No, I'll go
- 1:07:09do that now.
- 1:07:12>> Sorry, Mr. Mater. Nothing personal. Just
- 1:07:15the cost of doing business.
- 1:07:24[music]
- 1:07:36[crying]
- 1:07:42He's got a gun. Ellie, my brother, he
- 1:07:44has a gun. You've got to get out of
- 1:07:46here. You've got to get out of here now.
- 1:08:11Hurry, you've got to go.
- 1:08:13>> Okay, I get it.
- 1:08:14>> What are you doing?
- 1:08:15>> We have to go. It's Taylor's brother.
- 1:08:17He's here.
- 1:08:18>> I thought you said you didn't tell
- 1:08:19anyone. I
- 1:08:20>> I didn't.
- 1:08:21>> Then how do you know he's here?
- 1:08:22>> Hurry. He's on the way. Daniel, please.
- 1:08:24You have to trust me.
- 1:08:26>> I don't understand.
- 1:08:27>> I just know. Okay. He's got a gun. Just
- 1:08:30like I know he's got a gun. Come on,
- 1:08:33Ellie. Let's go.
- 1:08:34>> Daniel, I'll explain later. Just you
- 1:08:35have to trust me.
- 1:08:36>> Come on.
- 1:08:42>> No. No. This way. This way. This way.
- 1:09:04Daniel,
- 1:09:11>> what the hell's going on?
- 1:09:24Who was that?
- 1:09:31Down. Get down.
- 1:09:32>> Oh, that was close. What? Are you
- 1:09:34psychic or something?
- 1:09:38>> You [sighs] have your phone?
- 1:09:41>> The train museum.
- 1:09:43>> Go, go, go.
- 1:09:59Do you still have your gun?
- 1:10:00>> Yeah, it's all yours.
- 1:10:04>> It's not going to do much good, though.
- 1:10:05No bullets.
- 1:10:08I have a kid at home.
- 1:10:10>> Remind me never to play poker with you.
- 1:10:12Come on.
- 1:10:21>> Why is he doing this? You don't know.
- 1:11:00This way.
- 1:11:03Stop. Wait.
- 1:11:16He had a gun and run after them in the
- 1:11:18street.
- 1:11:18>> All units in the vicinity. We have
- 1:11:20reports of shots fired in the 300 block
- 1:11:22of Adam Street.
- 1:11:23>> But that is train museum. That's where
- 1:11:24she work.
- 1:11:25>> Carluchi the central.
- 1:11:40Listen, lady.
- 1:11:42I don't know who you are or what he told
- 1:11:44you, but Daniel murdered my sister, and
- 1:11:48he's going to have to pay for that.
- 1:11:57[panting and sighs]
- 1:12:05[snorts]
- 1:12:18It's okay. It's gone the other way.
- 1:12:30Who's going to find him?
- 1:12:33>> Where?
- 1:12:36Furo's over.
- 1:12:38Show me.
- 1:12:40>> Daniel.
- 1:13:33He's going to Find him.
- 1:13:38>> Hey, I'm over here.
- 1:13:42>> I'm here. I'm here.
- 1:13:44>> Stay right there, Daniel. Stay right
- 1:13:46there.
- 1:13:47>> Okay, come on out and show yourself. I
- 1:13:51know you can HEAR ME. OKAY, I'VE GOT
- 1:13:54DANIEL RIGHT HERE. You come on out,
- 1:13:56everything will be fine.
- 1:13:57>> No, don't. That's a bad idea, Ellie.
- 1:14:00>> Come on out and show yourself.
- 1:14:03I'M GOING TO KILL HIM IF YOU DON'T.
- 1:14:11>> GET OUT HERE. I'M NOT ASKING YOU AGAIN.
- 1:14:19>> What are you going to do, Will? Kill me
- 1:14:20in cold blood.
- 1:14:21>> Why not? It wouldn't be the first time.
- 1:14:27>> It'd be my first time. But so help me,
- 1:14:30God. You heard him. I'll do it. Now, put
- 1:14:34the gun down
- 1:14:35>> now.
- 1:14:36>> Okay. Okay. Okay.
- 1:14:42>> It was him.
- 1:14:45He was there.
- 1:14:47>> Yeah. [sighs and gasps]
- 1:14:48You're damn right I was. [panting]
- 1:14:51I was the whole time, Daniel, you never
- 1:14:53had a clue.
- 1:15:03>> [laughter]
- 1:15:05>> If I'm like my sister, I start
- 1:15:08something, I finish it.
- 1:15:30Why would you do this? It
- 1:15:32>> wasn't like I planned it this way, but
- 1:15:34what the hell? When I saw what happened.
- 1:15:36Oh, it was like the answer to all my
- 1:15:38problems.
- 1:15:40Just think about it, Daniel. Two of you
- 1:15:42in the middle of a bitter divorce,
- 1:15:43indictments [music] coming down for
- 1:15:45fraud. You end up killing each other. It
- 1:15:48wouldn't be unreasonable to assume this
- 1:15:49was all about your little Medicare scam
- 1:15:51finally blowing up in your [music] face.
- 1:15:52What?
- 1:15:53>> You son of a [ __ ] I had nothing to do
- 1:15:54with that.
- 1:15:55>> Neither did Taylor.
- 1:15:57>> Who's going to know that when you're
- 1:15:58both dead?
- 1:16:07>> Damn it.
- 1:16:10But unfortunately,
- 1:16:11things didn't quite work out the way I'd
- 1:16:13hoped.
- 1:16:35They say I'm the one with psychiatric
- 1:16:37problems.
- 1:16:38>> Yeah, you that was kind of a nice touch,
- 1:16:41don't you think? Media sure ran with
- 1:16:43that one.
- 1:16:44>> Okay, that's enough. Police. This is the
- 1:16:48police. Put your weapons to the ground.
- 1:16:51Ellie, do it slowly. Drop them to the
- 1:16:55floor.
- 1:16:58Good. Now, put your hands above your
- 1:16:59heads now.
- 1:17:03All right.
- 1:17:04>> Channel one.
- 1:17:05>> Thank you, officers. My name is William
- 1:17:07Shaw. I'm unarmed and I'm a doctor. This
- 1:17:10man here with a gun, his name is Daniel
- 1:17:12Nicholson. He's wanted in Concord. He
- 1:17:14murdered my sister.
- 1:17:15>> He's a liar.
- 1:17:17>> It wasn't him. He's innocent.
- 1:17:19>> This isn't right. You can't let this
- 1:17:21happen.
- 1:17:21>> Who are you talking to?
- 1:17:22>> You can't let this happen.
- 1:17:24>> I just asked you a question.
- 1:17:25>> Help him. Damn it.
- 1:17:28>> You've got the wrong person. It was him.
- 1:17:30>> Officer,
- 1:17:30>> he's the killer. He just confessed. I
- 1:17:32heard it myself.
- 1:17:33>> He's alive.
- 1:17:35>> Before Will came to you, he drugged a
- 1:17:37man and threw him in the back of a car.
- 1:17:40>> Wait, please. If you hire, you can still
- 1:17:42save him. There's a man. He He's been
- 1:17:45drugged.
- 1:17:46>> I just I don't know what you're talking
- 1:17:47about.
- 1:17:48>> Out in front of our apartment.
- 1:17:50>> In a blue sedan.
- 1:17:50>> In a blue sedan. There is a man in his
- 1:17:52car. He has been drugged. He's dying,
- 1:17:54but there's still time. You have to
- 1:17:56hurry. He's dying.
- 1:17:58>> I have no idea what [music] he's talking
- 1:17:59about.
- 1:18:00>> You have got to hurry. Please.
- 1:18:01>> You know what? This is ridiculous.
- 1:18:03Officers,
- 1:18:04>> listen. I'm going to need a quick
- 1:18:05search. We are now looking for a blue
- 1:18:06sedan
- 1:18:07>> in front of 2700 North Cook.
- 1:18:09>> Right. The vehicle is supposed to be
- 1:18:11located in front of 2700 North Cook.
- 1:18:14>> This is Carluchi. I'm at 2700 North
- 1:18:16Cook. We are proceeding a search of your
- 1:18:19vehicle.
- 1:18:22>> We found it.
- 1:18:24>> Good. I need you to look in the back
- 1:18:25seat. Do it now.
- 1:18:28>> Okay. This is ridiculous.
- 1:18:29>> We have a man unconscious. Central. We
- 1:18:31need an ambulance.
- 1:18:32>> I don't know anything about this.
- 1:18:34>> There's a syringe. It has William's
- 1:18:36fingerprints all over it. There's a
- 1:18:38syringe there as well. I'm sure it has
- 1:18:40his fingerprints on it.
- 1:18:42>> Do you see a syringe in the car?
- 1:18:47>> Affirmative. We have the syringe.
- 1:18:49>> So what? I'm I'm a doctor. I mean, I use
- 1:18:51syringes all day long. Anyone could
- 1:18:53could have taken it. They could have
- 1:18:55planted it there.
- 1:18:58>> The amal is on its way. He's still
- 1:19:00alive. I'm checking the apartment.
- 1:19:02>> Don't worry. He's going to live. It's
- 1:19:05not his time.
- 1:19:08I guess he's right. We'll just have to
- 1:19:10wait and see what the man in the car has
- 1:19:12to say.
- 1:19:14Hey, I I wouldn't worry. I mean, if
- 1:19:18you're as innocent as you say you are, I
- 1:19:20I'm sure it'll all be sorted out just
- 1:19:22fine, right?
- 1:19:25>> NO. [screaming] NO. NO. STOP. NO. I'M
- 1:19:28INNOCENT. I didn't do anything.
- 1:19:33>> You hear me? NO. I'M INNOCENT. I DID NOT
- 1:19:36DO ANYTHING.
