Ban List Damage Report SPECIAL Oct 2026 - New META Focus | Top Potentials! Play Style Change! — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hey guys, Tomboxer, and welcome to the
- 0:01Damage Report special. The first time
- 0:04we're doing a Damage Report within 3
- 0:05weeks of a previous Damage Report. This
- 0:07is a banlist historical moment because
- 0:10we haven't had a banlist that is this
- 0:12big. This is essentially an e-ban
- 0:14towards a lot of things, and it
- 0:16literally kind of took the internet's
- 0:18wish list and stuffed it into one major
- 0:21banlist. Whether or not it's good or bad
- 0:23for the format, I guess only time will
- 0:25tell. So, in the tradition of Damage
- 0:27Report, we're going to go over the list,
- 0:28the winners, the losers, but this time
- 0:29we're going to add extra report as well
- 0:32as the philosophy. And this time, the
- 0:34top tier potential is going to look
- 0:37actually not as wild as I I thought it
- 0:39of it initially, but it's still going to
- 0:41be a significant change. So, make sure
- 0:43you guys hit that like button, hit
- 0:45subscribe, ding the notification bell,
- 0:47and let's get to it. All right, this is
- 0:48going to be a long one. Now, this list
- 0:50is huge. I can't even use the
- 0:52traditional layout of a Damage Report to
- 0:54show all the cards. So, here we go.
- 0:56We're going to talk about them in more
- 0:57depth in the philosophy part of this
- 0:58video. So, for forbidden cards, we start
- 1:01off with the Amorphage Sloth and the
- 1:03Amorphage Goliath, Called by the Grave,
- 1:06and there's also Aerial Eater and Albion
- 1:08the Branded Dragon. And then we have two
- 1:10relatively new cards, which would be
- 1:12Zany Deserving Doll Maidens and Charmer
- 1:14Quartet in Bloom. Now, those were the
- 1:16dynamic duo that really blew off the
- 1:18power cap of the game. So, the power
- 1:21ceiling was just non-existent at this
- 1:23point. Just go wild. And this list goes
- 1:26to show that, "Hey, Konami can't trust
- 1:27the players into keeping the boards
- 1:30tame." Well, yeah, if you're going to
- 1:31give us something, we're going to put it
- 1:33to its maximum potential, but clearly
- 1:35the players innovate way faster than R&D
- 1:38itself. And that's kind of going to show
- 1:40what's going on here. Uh and then we
- 1:42have Beelze the Diabolic Dragon,
- 1:44Trishula, as well as Gou'ems. Uh those
- 1:47are all banned, mainly because it's
- 1:49FTK'ing or hand looping. Then we have
- 1:51DDD High Wave King Caesar, as well as
- 1:54the Secret Village of the Spellcasters,
- 1:56Anti-Spell Fragrance. So, a lot of Spell
- 1:59Card floodgating is now gone. And then
- 2:02we have Pharaonic Advent, the ability to
- 2:03search for Continuous Trap Cards is also
- 2:06going to be removed as well. I think
- 2:08it's just a safety net, I suppose. And
- 2:10maybe they're opening of the design
- 2:12space a little bit there. Then there's
- 2:14Cross-Sheep and Saryuja. So, combo is
- 2:16mainly the target of a lot of these
- 2:19hits. While they're taking away
- 2:20floodgates, they're also taking away the
- 2:22ability to combo at the same time. So,
- 2:24Cross-Sheep being one of the early play
- 2:26openers, as well as Saryuja usually kind
- 2:29of being the end piece that kind of
- 2:30follows up giving you the additional
- 2:32hand summon. Then there is Cup of Ace
- 2:34and Yummy Way. That one got the crowd
- 2:35going wild as well because now Yummy is
- 2:37essentially uh well, kind of dead to
- 2:40them for the most part because you can't
- 2:42really play the deck without going into
- 2:44Yummy Way to kick off your combo. It's
- 2:46also your follow-up to get more stuff.
- 2:49So, yeah, that one's pretty brutal
- 2:51considering it they also disabled the
- 2:52bridging of the deck. Then there's the
- 2:55triple floodgate of Gozen Match, the
- 2:57Rivalry of Warlords, and the TC itself.
- 3:00There can be only one. So, just for
- 3:03additional measure, aside from Pharaonic
- 3:05Advent being banned, these floodgates
- 3:07are also being taken out so that people
- 3:10are able to play. So, playability is a
- 3:12very big theme here as well as not
- 3:14letting the decks go too far. Because
- 3:17speaking of going too far, Magician's
- 3:18Souls got banned, and that essentially
- 3:21is a Foolish Burial Pot of Greed to some
- 3:23degree, as well as a free summon from
- 3:25the hand
- 3:26all in one. It can also technically
- 3:28E-tele out a Dark Magician if you
- 3:30consider it like dumping it in the grave
- 3:32and summoning it back out. Yeah, that's
- 3:33pretty strong, I would say. And it
- 3:35really just bridges every single Dark
- 3:38Spellcaster archetype just right there.
- 3:41And speaking of uh more Spellcasters, uh
- 3:44well, rather than Spellcaster canceling
- 3:46all spells, so Spell Canceller is also
- 3:47banned. As well as now we have got a
- 3:48couple of negation-based Synchros. We
- 3:51have Crystal Wing Synchro
- 3:52F.A. Dawn Dragster, and Naturia Beast.
- 3:54Naturia Beast came to me as a bit of a
- 3:55surprise. Like, what is Nat Beast doing?
- 3:57But, if Nat Beast lives in the format,
- 3:59then Nat Beast, if it's ever played,
- 4:02it's only ever in securing the board so
- 4:04that your opponent cannot play any more
- 4:06spell cards. Yeah, and that makes it a
- 4:09lot more lopsided because the game has
- 4:12gone to the point where deck ratios are
- 4:14super spell reliant. And or they're
- 4:16super monster reliant, but it's usually
- 4:18a balance between those two.
- 4:20Next, there's Baguska, which is the
- 4:22fallback plan for most rank four decks,
- 4:24but also used in Lunalights as one of
- 4:27the things that I suppose the Lunalight
- 4:30Liger Dancer isn't affected by. The
- 4:32Garrus also took a significant hit here,
- 4:34which is a bit of a surprise to me. And
- 4:37now for some of the more surprising hit.
- 4:39Now, Nishi thought that this one wasn't
- 4:40going to get hit, and our buddy, or
- 4:42rather our cameraman Cam, had a bet with
- 4:45him that no Elfno cards with the name
- 4:47would be hit, and they were Well, Nishi
- 4:49was wrong, and he lost the bet. Now, he
- 4:51owes him essentially an entry for
- 4:53locals.
- 4:54That's kind of fun. But, yeah, Elf no
- 4:56Tenia got banned.
- 4:58We'll talk about that in the in the
- 4:59damage report. Then, there's the double
- 5:02negation duo. We have Azemina Ilia
- 5:05Sylvia, as well as the infamous Red-Eyes
- 5:08Dark Dragoon. So, the Dark Magician
- 5:11package, you know, Dark Magical Curtain
- 5:13package, everything related to that, I
- 5:16think the most powerful part of the
- 5:17package has been, well, banned off. And
- 5:20then, the one thing that everyone was
- 5:22waiting for Well, did have a Kirin get
- 5:24hit. Kirin did get hit, banned. And lost
- 5:28their, I guess, insulation
- 5:33against hand traps. So, Verre just being
- 5:35gone, that's pretty significant. As well
- 5:37as, you know, Called by the Grave is
- 5:38gone, and then they also got rid of
- 5:40Crossout Designator, as well as Triple
- 5:42Tactics Talent. So, the going first hand
- 5:46trap counter package is also removed
- 5:49from the game. Now, as for limited
- 5:51cards, well, this one was a bit of a
- 5:53surprise.
- 5:54They limited a Droll & Lock Bird, so
- 5:57you're going to get sacked by Droll &
- 5:58Lock Bird, and maybe this is a precursor
- 6:00to just banning Droll & Lock Bird
- 6:02because that card technically is still
- 6:03searchable with the DM package. I think
- 6:05people are going to have to re-explore
- 6:07that package. As you can see, most of
- 6:10the initial negations are gone. I'm not
- 6:13saying all of it's gone, but most of
- 6:14it's gone. Then they have the
- 6:15pre-release card which we did not expect
- 6:17here, which is uh Perfectron Hydro Drive
- 6:20uh Dragon. That particular monster would
- 6:22be a link that goes into itself into
- 6:24itself. I think it led to some level of
- 6:26FTK. Uh that got limited right before it
- 6:29even got released, which is well, I
- 6:31think that's very significant. I don't
- 6:33think they've done something like that
- 6:34in a long time. One of the times they
- 6:35did it was for Six Sense, and I think
- 6:37for a card that straight-up got banned
- 6:40before we got to play was Temple of the
- 6:41Kings, and that came out in the like the
- 6:42Meric structure deck. Now, as for the
- 6:45other guy that's just taking strays all
- 6:47the time, Branded. Branded opening took
- 6:49a hit here when going down from three
- 6:51copies to one, but Branded wasn't even
- 6:54like a top-tier deck. For some reason,
- 6:56Branded was just catching strays, okay?
- 6:59And then Toon decks, Toon Bookmark and
- 7:02Toon Table of Contents both went down to
- 7:04one before the release.
- 7:06That's telling me that, "Hey, I think
- 7:09Konami is going to be power capping most
- 7:11decks for the most part, okay?" That
- 7:14could mean that decks will actually live
- 7:16longer and might take lighter taps on
- 7:18the balance in the future based on
- 7:20performance, but they're not afraid to
- 7:22surprise us with these things anymore.
- 7:25That's what it feels like. Because
- 7:26Genesis already has rapid updates in
- 7:28terms of the points list,
- 7:30I think this might be an approach
- 7:32towards the actual advanced format.
- 7:35That's just a thought here, you know,
- 7:37it's just hypothesis. We will try to
- 7:38prove it in the future do we see we get
- 7:40more data. Then there's Griffon going
- 7:43down to one. Bit surprising, very early
- 7:45limit, but with Griffon being put down
- 7:48to one, it also opened the opportunity
- 7:50like we're we're thinking like, oh, is
- 7:51E4 also going to go to one? Apparently,
- 7:53E4 is going to stick around. So, we're
- 7:55going to talk about that in a second.
- 7:56And then Gustav Max going to one, that's
- 7:58prevention of FDK's. And then as for the
- 8:01last slot for limited, we were all
- 8:03hoping for E4. It was another stray.
- 8:06They you know, branded just just can't
- 8:08you know, they can't take a beating
- 8:09here. Uh branded opening got limited to
- 8:12one. And then we had a surprise. We
- 8:13actually had a surprise, which is
- 8:16engaged. Sky Striker mobilize engage got
- 8:18put to two. Yeah, well, we didn't count
- 8:21for that, but that's the entire list.
- 8:23For winners and losers, the ultimate
- 8:24winner of this entire ban list has to be
- 8:27Angelique. Completely unfazed
- 8:30whatsoever. All the hand traps are still
- 8:31available. The hand trap success rate is
- 8:33also going up and they're also not very
- 8:35much impacted by hand traps aside from
- 8:37like ogre, but because you are the most
- 8:40successful now, you're going to have a
- 8:41target on your back. Most people are
- 8:43going to main deck ogres. They're going
- 8:44to have typhoons in their decks ready to
- 8:46blow your deck apart so that your
- 8:48bastions don't land. You don't get to
- 8:49set up additional back row. That's
- 8:51what's going to happen to this deck. So,
- 8:54now that everyone's targeting you, it's
- 8:56kind of like drytron. When drytron's the
- 8:57best deck, it's not the best deck. You
- 8:59need it so that people kind of keep you
- 9:01under the radar and you are now at the
- 9:03forefront of everything. Hand trap
- 9:05success rate is going to go up
- 9:06especially with Nibiru. Nibiru is
- 9:10essentially uninsulatable
- 9:13for most decks. I won't say that every
- 9:15single negation's gone. There are
- 9:16certain decks that are still capable and
- 9:18the top tier potential, we'll talk about
- 9:19that. And then there's Sky Striker. Oh,
- 9:22no, we also got hit. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 9:24sure you did. Sure you did. You also
- 9:27climbed all the way to the top of the
- 9:28tier list as well along the way. So, the
- 9:31winners are essentially the players. You
- 9:33guys wanted all of these things to be
- 9:35hit. You essentially got the wish list
- 9:38granted by Konami, which is very
- 9:40interesting. I've never seen them do
- 9:41something like this, but there must be a
- 9:43reason behind it. And I kind of know why
- 9:45because I've been play testing a lot of
- 9:46stuff in the future already, and the
- 9:49world of hand trap is about to
- 9:51drastically change. Now, as for the
- 9:53losers, floodgate users, FTK
- 9:54enthusiasts, extra negation from the
- 9:57extra deck, and the hand loopers, these
- 9:58are gone, which is good. You know what?
- 10:01Take these away because all they offer
- 10:03is just a bad time. Just turns the game
- 10:05into a bit of a die roll, and you know,
- 10:07the extra floodgate is ultimately
- 10:09unnecessary because it gives access to
- 10:11decks that shouldn't have floodgates to
- 10:13have floodgates to make the boards even
- 10:15harder to break. Now, for archetypal
- 10:17losers, we have Elf Note or Astinia. You
- 10:20know, the blue haired girl is gone.
- 10:23Mitsurugi took a surprising hit at the
- 10:25very end. Combo power bridges and
- 10:26anything that bridges into anything that
- 10:29is meta relevant has been taken out.
- 10:30Yummy has been hit. Branded took a
- 10:32one-two punch. Toons got preemptively
- 10:35trimmed. Anything that is above a
- 10:37certain line will now be trimmed, and
- 10:40that's your new power ceiling. It's
- 10:41going to be capped right there. Then we
- 10:43have the good, the bad, the ugly. Well,
- 10:45the good, the bad, the legend.
- 10:47We got most of the DM package, as a Mina
- 10:50package, as well as
- 10:52the Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon. So, yeah, DM
- 10:55package is significantly hit.
- 10:57So, for the hits, anything that's in
- 10:58blue got limited, and everything in
- 11:00white essentially are all banned. FTKs
- 11:03and hand loops, Superdreadnought Rail
- 11:04Cannon that was a triple burn FTK.
- 11:06Nothing you can really do about it. You
- 11:08take 8,000 to the face, and that's it.
- 11:10Beelze the Diabolic Dragon, your
- 11:11opponent usually gave it to you with a
- 11:13mind castle, and then with the knight
- 11:16piece from Angelica infinitely
- 11:19triggering it, every single burn will
- 11:21cause it to gain gain attack, and then
- 11:23every single time they gain attack, you
- 11:24burn. So, it's an infinite loop that
- 11:25burns you to death. Essentially. So, the
- 11:28game of that is also an infinite loop if
- 11:30you somehow turn into life gain,
- 11:31strangely enough. And then there is
- 11:33Trishula, the Ice Barrier Dragon, and
- 11:34XX-Saber Gottoms, which was a Synchro
- 11:37combo that kept on bringing it back and
- 11:39you kept on making more, so you rip your
- 11:41opponent's hand in an Elf no combo. Uh
- 11:43that essentially led to them having a
- 11:45three-card start, sorry, take three
- 11:48cards out from their start and then take
- 11:49one more out from the Tinia uh during
- 11:52the early parts of the game. Then
- 11:53there's the easy negations that were
- 11:55just like combo pieces that just
- 11:56happened to get there. Like, oh, with
- 11:58Skull Archfiend it got even easier with
- 11:59the Zoodiac engine. High King Caesar,
- 12:01Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, Dawn
- 12:02Dragster, that's just kind of weakening
- 12:04the Elf no board in general. Uh As a
- 12:06Mina Ilia Silvia, Red Archfiend generic
- 12:08negations for everything, you know,
- 12:10those are omni negates, and even
- 12:12Varudras was also part of the problem.
- 12:14It was just too easy. These cards
- 12:17ultimately made hand traps worse,
- 12:20especially Nibiru, the thing that's
- 12:21supposed to punish combo. Well, combo
- 12:23decks are making these monsters to
- 12:25prevent themselves from getting punished
- 12:26at all. And so they've been stripped out
- 12:29of the game for now in the advanced
- 12:30format. As for combo support and
- 12:32bridges, Magician's Souls gave you all
- 12:33the Dark Spellcaster, Hane Kiri is the
- 12:36entire bridge towards the Mitsurugi
- 12:38package. Aerial Eater gave you uh Fiend
- 12:41access, basically allowed you to dump
- 12:42cards out of the graveyard. Again,
- 12:43Foolish Burial monsters is actually
- 12:45don't get to live. Albion the Branded
- 12:47Dragon was too fast. You can still get
- 12:49access to some of the Fallen of Albaz
- 12:52cards, but you have to do it a lot
- 12:54slower now, or you have to do it during
- 12:56the main phase to get Ecclesia and shut
- 12:58out your own extra deck to kind of get
- 13:00that early search. So, there's been
- 13:02restrictions added to the game by
- 13:03banning out this card, which does hurt
- 13:05the Branded deck the most, right? And
- 13:08the Garrus the Timeless, I don't know
- 13:09why that got banned. It's just
- 13:11additional draws for the most part that
- 13:13that comes with a risk. Then there's
- 13:15Cross-Sheep, that was an early combo for
- 13:17link climbing, and it was just too easy
- 13:19these days.
- 13:20Uh Charmers in Bloom, come on, Monster
- 13:23Reborn in the extra deck, that revive
- 13:24two that it protects it from being Super
- 13:26Poly. So, are you just Skull Dread, I
- 13:28think it just extend it. I don't know
- 13:29why this one got hit. It's not really
- 13:30relevant right now. Zenais deceiving
- 13:32down made is a foolish burial in the
- 13:33extra deck. All those get banned anyway
- 13:35and also brings back cards out of the
- 13:37graveyard. What are you talking about?
- 13:38Called by the grave, crossout
- 13:39designator, triple tactics talent, these
- 13:41are all insulating out. So, they're just
- 13:43essentially combo support to make the
- 13:45combo decks play better. But, also
- 13:48triple tactics could look at your
- 13:49opponent's hand. So, most hand looking
- 13:50effects are all gone. Now, as for the
- 13:53next category, disabling game play.
- 13:55These are the cards that ultimately
- 13:57don't let people play. I want to call
- 13:58them floodgates, but in terms of game
- 14:00design mechanic, you're disabling game
- 14:03mechanics with these cards. Amorphage
- 14:05Sloth Goliath, these are extra deck
- 14:06stuns. Spell canceller, stun. Anti-spell
- 14:09fragrance, stun. These are all just
- 14:11spell stunning. Naturia Beast, all part
- 14:13of the same package. But, Guska not
- 14:15letting people play with their monsters.
- 14:16Secret Village Spellcaster, no spells
- 14:17again. Rivalry of Warlords goes in match
- 14:19that can be only one. All of these are
- 14:21just floodgates and Vernal Advent is the
- 14:24well, the boss that searched them out.
- 14:26So, it was too easy. And being a
- 14:28spellcaster, it just made it even that
- 14:30much easier, okay? So, then as for meta
- 14:33relevant hit, these are limits to kind
- 14:34of tone down the power because these
- 14:36decks were essentially confirmed to be
- 14:38too strong based off of well, their
- 14:41bans. Grifole already got hit and Elf
- 14:43Mateni got straight up banned.
- 14:46Mateni also looked at the opponent's
- 14:47hand. So, the spell bridging between
- 14:51uh Elf Note and uh the Ars Magna took a
- 14:54hit here. It's not like you can't search
- 14:55it anymore. It's just that you're not
- 14:57allowed to use Elf Note as that engine
- 14:59to search it. You can still use the link
- 15:00side to get into the Therion cards.
- 15:03Sky Striker Mobilize Engage got
- 15:04semi-limited, which is like okay. Uh and
- 15:07then there's Tunetable of Contents.
- 15:08Everything here is just power capping.
- 15:10But, Branded is just taking like a
- 15:12significant hit in terms of the extra
- 15:14deck as well as the consistency in the
- 15:16main deck. You're going to have to load
- 15:17your main deck with even more cards. And
- 15:19then Performapal is just like annoying
- 15:20FTK prevention. So, what's the purpose
- 15:23of this entire list? This
- 15:26I think it's aiming to bring players
- 15:28back. Like one of the biggest issues
- 15:29that I kind of brought forward is that
- 15:32usually when a ban list comes out uh
- 15:35that's supposed to spike your player
- 15:37base to return to play your next event.
- 15:40However, statistics have shown that that
- 15:42was not the case. In fact, there was a
- 15:44continued drop. But also seeing that
- 15:46there are no Angeliky cards in this
- 15:49particular list was this actually
- 15:51planned out ahead of time? Like they
- 15:53knew what the players want and maybe
- 15:55this was the backup plan. Like let's
- 15:57give let's give the players what they
- 15:58want. See if they come back. It's kind
- 16:01of risky to do something like that
- 16:02because not all player pools agree with
- 16:05each other. So, there is going to be a
- 16:08bit of a risk here, but if you look at
- 16:10what's happening here
- 16:12combo decks, everything that was part of
- 16:14combo slop that made it super strong.
- 16:17Let's just say the resilience of those
- 16:19combos are not there. Luckily, they did
- 16:20not hit Selene. So, Selene's still
- 16:22available without Dragoon. What is the
- 16:24Selene anyway? You still have your
- 16:25classic Selene to access code combo,
- 16:28which is a kind of a cool combo anyway.
- 16:30It's a very strong one. Kind of takes
- 16:31us, you know, back to the past a little
- 16:33bit here. But what else did they take
- 16:35away? They took away the floodgates that
- 16:37essentially protected the end board from
- 16:38interaction. That was like not good
- 16:41overall because it was just like oh, you
- 16:43sacked me with a floodgate. And since
- 16:44they put them all to one, it was
- 16:46essentially the sack it. Uh but the
- 16:48power level has ultimately been scaled
- 16:50down for most of the modern decks except
- 16:52for Angeliky. Who knows? Are they going
- 16:54to be that strong? It's just really
- 16:56weird when you put a stun deck to the
- 16:58top of the meta. I always have a firm
- 17:00believer that a stun deck should not
- 17:02really be the top meta deck. The stun
- 17:05deck is supposed to be stunning the
- 17:06meta. It itself shouldn't be the meta
- 17:10because it kind of sends a message where
- 17:13the best way to play the game is to not
- 17:15play the game at all. That's what stun
- 17:17decks tell us.
- 17:18And I don't know, maybe that's just how
- 17:20I feel. Leave it down in the comments
- 17:21section of how you feel about a stun
- 17:23deck being the meta deck of the format.
- 17:25I don't know how I feel about it. It
- 17:26feels very, very bizarre.
- 17:28Um and then the future decks essentially
- 17:30will be more tame. I don't know if
- 17:31that's a confirmed thing right now. I
- 17:33can't really confirm that because it's a
- 17:34bit weird. Cuz yes, they've capped
- 17:37toons, but toons has always been one of
- 17:40the decks that players have been more
- 17:41vocal about, especially online, saying,
- 17:43"Oh my god, when the toon format comes
- 17:45over, oh, the whole game's going to get
- 17:47ruined again." Well, they pre-hit the
- 17:49cards now. Now now that they've hit,
- 17:51say, the toon table of contents as well
- 17:54as the bookmark, you don't have to
- 17:56really have to worry about the
- 17:57Eradicator FTK cuz there's only one copy
- 17:59of toon table of contents. It's really
- 18:02hard to kind of pile through that many
- 18:03spells to burn you with Eradicator. So,
- 18:05that's why Eradicator did not make it to
- 18:06this list. But also, none of the
- 18:09Angeliky cards made it either. So, uh
- 18:12this also goes to show that this game is
- 18:13not meant to be like 100% like balanced
- 18:17all across because it's still
- 18:18technically a trading card game. There
- 18:20are going to be things that are going to
- 18:21be stronger than other things. There are
- 18:22going to be sell points to the product,
- 18:24and that's still there. But okay, well,
- 18:26with Angeliky kind of falling through
- 18:27the cracks here,
- 18:29that means this is the Angeliky format
- 18:31where people are going to cater their
- 18:32decks to deal with it. But ultimately,
- 18:34with Nibiru kind of running free and you
- 18:36don't have a way to stop it because
- 18:37Crossout's gone, so you can't cross it
- 18:39out. You can't really check your
- 18:40opponent's hand see if they have it.
- 18:42There are certain decks that can still
- 18:43do it, and that might actually push them
- 18:44to the top if you want to remain playing
- 18:46in old Yu-Gi-Oh.
- 18:48But for the most part, yeah, if you get
- 18:51you're going to eat the nib, your deck
- 18:52better be able to eat the nib or play
- 18:54under nib. That's it.
- 18:56Cuz if you can eat the nib, there are
- 18:57certain decks that can definitely just
- 18:58eat the nib and who cares? Like Rollout.
- 19:00Rollout won't care cuz like, you're
- 19:01trying to nib me? Dude, my monsters
- 19:02aren't going to die. My monsters are
- 19:04going to stay around because you're not
- 19:05going to be able to tribute them off.
- 19:07So, there are going to be certain types
- 19:09of limits. And there's also like one
- 19:10floodgate that didn't get touched, which
- 19:12is Skill Drain, still sticking around.
- 19:14And the Tyrant Tantrum cards, the Tyrant
- 19:16cards, technically those could become
- 19:19the new floodgates in the future, but
- 19:22they're not searchable, so there's that.
- 19:24But with Angeliky being the top
- 19:28contender with the target on its back,
- 19:30deck building is also going to alter.
- 19:32And combo decks that try to go off the
- 19:33rails now have solid Nibiru to keep them
- 19:36in check, and most people might be main
- 19:38decking triple Nibiru now.
- 19:39>> Look, I know we're 20 minutes in and now
- 19:41we're finally getting into the first
- 19:43combo or deck damage report, which is
- 19:46going to be Roll Out. We're going to
- 19:47talk about both the branded and the
- 19:49combo variants and what really got hit
- 19:51here. So, one Magician's Souls, two
- 19:52Gryphons, a Fronac Advent out of the
- 19:54side deck, also the Anti-Spell Fragrance
- 19:56out of the side deck, Aluber in the
- 19:58Branded Dragon for the branded side,
- 20:00Branded in High Spirits for the branded
- 20:02side, Called by the Grave generically.
- 20:03As for the combo side, we're also losing
- 20:04Cross-Sheep, Zena, Doll Maidens, and
- 20:06Charmer Quartet. In terms of deck
- 20:08repairs, you can shove in more Kuribos.
- 20:10You can explore a new extra deck
- 20:12package.
- 20:13Uh, I think most of you already have
- 20:15done it, but it's hard to recover the
- 20:18combo because if you play combo, you're
- 20:20going to be running into a Nibiru issue,
- 20:23which I'm not too
- 20:26comfortable with yet. I don't think it's
- 20:28been discovered of how to kind of work
- 20:30around it as we don't have access to
- 20:32Dragoon and Ilia Silvia anymore. I got
- 20:34to add that also into the combo pile. I
- 20:36just didn't have space to it. Yes, Ilia
- 20:37Silvia and Dragoon are also removed from
- 20:40this list, so
- 20:41these are some of the things you're
- 20:42going to have to wonder about. In terms
- 20:43of what you can add back into the deck,
- 20:45well, let's address it based off of the
- 20:46meta itself. We're going to have to look
- 20:47at Angeliky. We're going to probably
- 20:49still have to look at some level of like
- 20:51Elf No Power Patron or Power Patron Ars
- 20:54Magna. Like they're really trying to
- 20:56push it towards new product, and that's
- 20:59something that we're going to have to
- 21:00look into because Ars Magna likely is
- 21:01going to be a deck that still kept
- 21:03everything. Sure, they don't have like
- 21:06some crazy negation, but they still
- 21:07technically have number 90
- 21:09Galaxy Photon Lord. They still have
- 21:10that. What are you going to do about it?
- 21:12And then they can replace
- 21:15uh probably the spell negator with a
- 21:18hope harbinger. That's also a rank
- 21:20eight, so they get to play with the rank
- 21:21stuff. But as for branded here, branded
- 21:24roll out and roll out combo, well,
- 21:27branded side I don't think it's too bad.
- 21:30The biggest hit on this deck has to be
- 21:32Magicians' Souls. As both variations
- 21:35have Magicians' Souls as part of their
- 21:36deck as they can go into Dark Magician
- 21:39of Destruction to get the Soul Souls can
- 21:41take itself and the newly turned Gravity
- 21:44Controller from the Dark Magician of
- 21:47Destruction, that can help now turn into
- 21:49a synchro summon of Cookie yummy way and
- 21:51that plus the Scholar Archfiend gives
- 21:53you access to Ecclesia and that now
- 21:54enables you to play with that engine.
- 21:56The engine is essentially now turned off
- 21:58for the most part. You don't have to go
- 22:00into Ecclesia if you don't need to. In
- 22:03fact, well, I guess for this particular
- 22:05combo you have to go into Ecclesia and
- 22:06then you go into Ecclesia into Star
- 22:09Cartesia because there's no point in
- 22:11dumping an Albion to the graveyard.
- 22:13You're likely going to go into a three
- 22:15Swordsoul Champion to try and get access
- 22:18to the Ecclesia instead, like Dogmatika
- 22:22Ecclesia and get that summon out to get
- 22:24the F&V
- 22:26So, that's one of the ways that you can
- 22:27kind of play with it. Alternatively, you
- 22:29can also play Bandit as your opening
- 22:31play because you don't really need your
- 22:33normal summon that way you can dodge
- 22:34like the Nibiru or rather play around
- 22:36the Nibiru, but it's like not the safest
- 22:38cuz double hand trap now makes Nibiru
- 22:40that much stronger now. You don't have
- 22:42the negation to deal with it. As for the
- 22:44combo side, you're losing the Crossout
- 22:45Designator, so you're also losing the
- 22:47climb and the draw and the revive, the
- 22:49Zenalines, the foolish a well, a monster
- 22:52in the graveyard that can easily be
- 22:53recursively used either by the Line
- 22:56Darkness
- 22:57ritual card or anything for that matter,
- 23:00like just load the graveyard with
- 23:04like, what's the point of even putting
- 23:05in the Black Witch Diabellstar anymore
- 23:07because
- 23:08doesn't really work anymore, does it?
- 23:10You're not getting any gate, you're
- 23:11getting bodies, you're getting more
- 23:12stuff to climb. But, if it climbs
- 23:14successfully, maybe that's a lot better,
- 23:16but you can still easily get into
- 23:17Charmers, so you're going to have to
- 23:18re-explore a new extra deck package and
- 23:19maybe find ways to close out games. But,
- 23:21at the very least a Rollad package won't
- 23:24be affected by Nibiru all that much.
- 23:27Maybe there's a new way to kind of play
- 23:29a more pure version of the deck, but I
- 23:31you're going to have to do a little bit
- 23:32of a soul searching here because
- 23:34Magician's Souls is gone now and
- 23:36bridging that as the auto foolish burial
- 23:38that was also searchable from a card
- 23:39from the extra deck, yeah, that's not
- 23:42part of this package anymore. But, they
- 23:44didn't touch Skull Archfiend for reason,
- 23:46so maybe we can still play, but I'm
- 23:49guessing they want to keep us a little
- 23:50bit more tame. We can also have a bit of
- 23:52a struggle to check your opponent's
- 23:54hand. So,
- 23:56is there a way to blend the two builds
- 23:57together? Is there a way to use cards
- 24:00like Mind Drain to hand check the
- 24:01opponent? Cuz I would say hand checking
- 24:03the opponent now is a very much a valid
- 24:06strategy. I 100% would just go
- 24:09Magician's Curtain just to see my
- 24:11opponent's hand with a Mind Drain. And
- 24:12then,
- 24:13well, then I feel like kind of like a
- 24:15cool tune player, to be honest, but it's
- 24:17KO.
- 24:18If I can do it, why not? I get the get
- 24:20that level of security and just play
- 24:21around the problems uh rather than play
- 24:23into them. So, yeah, this is a
- 24:26significant hit, especially the
- 24:27Magician's Soul. That's that's the one
- 24:29that hits every side. Every time it
- 24:31hurts. So,
- 24:33are you going to go for like a Droll
- 24:35search line by going into the Witch of
- 24:38the Black Forest?
- 24:40Yeah, and there's no direct set, so I
- 24:42guess using Dogmatika uh
- 24:45Ecclesia is probably the best way if you
- 24:46want to get access to Fallen Virtuous.
- 24:48And is that Fallen Virtuous that
- 24:50important now? With only one Gryphon, it
- 24:52also makes the Angeliky deck even
- 24:55stronger because Gryphon on draw face
- 24:57could get you the spell shattering sword
- 25:00to destroy the field spell and the
- 25:03bastion. Now you're not going to be able
- 25:05to do that anymore because if you try to
- 25:08open with like a multiply kuriboh,
- 25:10that's not going to work cuz that's a
- 25:11trap card. You're just stuck with the
- 25:13multiply kuriboh. It's not the same
- 25:15thing. This whole list is somewhat
- 25:18catered to making that deck stronger. So
- 25:20having fallen virust be able to like hit
- 25:22the card, combine it with like a ghost
- 25:24over cuz I can hit two cards
- 25:25might be the way to go.
- 25:28Okay, report number two. Let's talk
- 25:29about Elfnote.
- 25:31I think the elephant in the room is the
- 25:33Elfnote Tinia is now banned. So for, you
- 25:37know, war crimes that she's committed
- 25:39such as ripping your hand apart and also
- 25:42searching for the spell cards and
- 25:43bridging into Ars Magma. Well, she's
- 25:46gone. This was unprecedented and very
- 25:48unpredicted because I personally thought
- 25:50it was going to go more like the malice
- 25:52route where you kind of put each of the
- 25:53searching names to one and then leave
- 25:55the Regina at three so you can still
- 25:56play. But that was still too powerful
- 25:59and uh I was speaking with my my
- 26:02roommate and he was like, "Yeah, that's
- 26:03not possible. If Elfnote doesn't get
- 26:05hit, it's going to be like impossible to
- 26:07break them. No doesn't matter how many
- 26:09hand traps you throw at them, they're
- 26:10just going to keep on going." While as
- 26:12one of those decks that can play under
- 26:14Nibiru, can play through it if you're
- 26:15smart enough. Now other things that
- 26:18Elfnote lost would be the F.A. Dawn
- 26:19Dragster and the Crystal Wing Synchro
- 26:21Dragon. So if your opening line locks
- 26:23you into synchro because you have to use
- 26:24Strelitzia, that means your line is
- 26:26garbage. That line is not good. It will
- 26:30lose to Nibiru. You might have to pass
- 26:31turn before you get into
- 26:33five because if you summon onto the
- 26:35fifth, you might just get hit by Nibiru
- 26:36and then since you're locked into
- 26:38synchro summons, you might be stuck for
- 26:40good. That's one of the major weaknesses
- 26:43that was introduced to the deck.
- 26:45That being said, you can still fix the
- 26:48deck.
- 26:49I mean, Ars Magma isn't a bad archetype.
- 26:51And also you have like future support.
- 26:53Konami has already announced the future
- 26:54support in Immortal Phoenix that be able
- 26:56to just re-pump out uh the deck itself.
- 27:00Power Patron's going to be strong.
- 27:03You're living in that particular
- 27:05archetype space. Yeah, this is not going
- 27:07to be too big of an issue. When it comes
- 27:09to like using two level eights now to
- 27:11give yourself that bit of insulation,
- 27:14then you can get it with Hope Harbinger.
- 27:17Sorry, that's for spell negation. But,
- 27:18you can technically get into Galaxy
- 27:21Photon Lord. Galaxy Photon Lord is an
- 27:24option for you to, well, nib proof
- 27:26yourself. Unfortunately, Impermanence
- 27:29probably going to become a thing again.
- 27:31So, yeah, let's keep that in mind. I
- 27:34mean, I guess Impermanence did was like
- 27:36kind of like a 50/50 card. There's just
- 27:37better hand traps. I want to keep my
- 27:38deck down to 40. Well, maybe
- 27:40Impermanence is back to being
- 27:42potentially some of the best choices out
- 27:44there. Uh so, in terms of like
- 27:47replacements for Tinia, there is no
- 27:48replacement for Tinia. She She did
- 27:50something that's very, very unique,
- 27:52which was dig out one of the card types,
- 27:55which would have been the spell card.
- 27:56So, you could technically amp up the
- 27:59numbers of Welcome Home, but you also
- 28:01risk bricking a bit more because it's a
- 28:03spell card. And you also don't need that
- 28:05many copies of it. So, before you had
- 28:08the consistency, if you want to maintain
- 28:10that consistency, you might want to play
- 28:11an extra copy. If you want to continue
- 28:13to play Elf Note, I'm not sure if Elf
- 28:14Note Ars Magna is going to work out very
- 28:16much. Essentially, you lost the Tinia
- 28:18line. So, if you open with June Pride,
- 28:21or rather Regina, into Elf Note a Power
- 28:23Patron, that leads into June Pride, that
- 28:24leading into Tinia, that is no longer an
- 28:27option. You can still go into Fortuna.
- 28:29And if you can find a way to get an Elf
- 28:32Note card and somehow add that back into
- 28:34your I don't know how you're going to do
- 28:35that, to be honest. It's going to be one
- 28:38of the clear bridges that have been
- 28:39burned. But, you can still go into the
- 28:43Purifying Power Patron to go into the
- 28:45Theorize
- 28:47route to dig into your Ars Magica.
- 28:49Considering if you don't lock yourself
- 28:51into synchros, if you don't have to rely
- 28:52on Strelitzia,
- 28:53well,
- 28:54then you'll be fine. You you'll still be
- 28:56able to bridge. It's just not the the
- 28:58cheapest bridge, but you know,
- 28:59everything comes with the cost now, so
- 29:01there you go. So, the deck is still
- 29:03technically playable. I don't think it's
- 29:04actually knocked off that badly. The
- 29:07deck is still pretty strong. I mean,
- 29:09random Lucinas that can just bounce away
- 29:13potential problems and they can still go
- 29:15into June Pride to get a pretty major
- 29:17setup. Like, these are not insignificant
- 29:19plays. I know that a lot of people will
- 29:21kind of wish they had Tenyi to kind of,
- 29:23you know, get that additional follow-up
- 29:24protect them at middle zone because
- 29:26right now the middle zone essentially
- 29:27can be destroyed by card effects. Isn't
- 29:29that interesting? Like, that that slight
- 29:31little thought that's like, "Oh, yeah,
- 29:32before I couldn't blow up the card. I
- 29:34can use F and V." But, that also makes F
- 29:35and V slightly stronger because that the
- 29:39the Welcome Home isn't as searchable.
- 29:42Right? Like,
- 29:43it's just something that if they open
- 29:45with it, they can deal with it. And also
- 29:46blowing it up hurts a lot more because
- 29:48it's just less recoverable, too. So,
- 29:50yeah, there's a there's a lot of stuff
- 29:51going on here and they kind of took away
- 29:54a lot of the, well, layered negation
- 29:56with Dawn Dragster being able to negate
- 29:58spells and
- 29:59and spells and traps, rather. And
- 30:02without Dawn Dragster, that also makes
- 30:04it so that
- 30:05the Mind Shuffle stuff, if you're going
- 30:07to continue playing Roll Lad, that is
- 30:09going to be a lot easier.
- 30:12And opening E4 was also kind of negated
- 30:15by the Dawn Dragster to some degree.
- 30:17Like, it's not it's not just that, but
- 30:18like other trap cards as well.
- 30:20Uh but,
- 30:21I'm just saying that there's like a
- 30:22relevancy in terms of like the ability
- 30:24to negate spells and traps. Now, you're
- 30:26just down to spells if you decide to
- 30:27play Hope Harbinger. So,
- 30:30yeah, I think the pivot is going to be
- 30:31going a bit more Ars Magica heavy in
- 30:33terms of playing the particular
- 30:35archetype here. But, you can also play
- 30:37Dooms. Dooms is like doesn't sound too
- 30:39bad anymore.
- 30:40Now, for Branded and Yummy, I'm sorry,
- 30:43they dug a huge grave as Habakiri watch
- 30:45these cards hit the graveyard or into
- 30:48the shadow realm.
- 30:50What do you want me to say? A shout out
- 30:51to Trip. Trip was I kind of grabbed that
- 30:53picture off of Trip's uh Twitter.
- 30:55Okay, so
- 30:57first of all, I'm going to talk about
- 30:58both of them on the same page because
- 31:00they're just damage overall and there's
- 31:02not much recovery. Yummy took probably
- 31:04one of the biggest hits. It only took
- 31:06one card and they can It's like that one
- 31:09card that you would put on a wish list
- 31:11because you want to take out an entire
- 31:13deck. Well, congratulations. That card
- 31:16has been taken out as Cup's Yummy way.
- 31:18Now with a limited Cup's Yummy, I think
- 31:21aren't you kind of screwed? Like you
- 31:23don't have consistency. You don't have
- 31:25recovery. Your bridging play is also
- 31:27taken away. This is probably the most
- 31:30significant hit against Yummy. They they
- 31:32can't get started with like random
- 31:34non-engine. They are stuck and there's
- 31:38nothing that does something as unique as
- 31:40uh the Cup's Yummy way because Cup's
- 31:42Yummy way lets you search for two and
- 31:44dump one essentially setting up your
- 31:46engine by itself. Can be bridged from
- 31:48the outside and now you can't. Now
- 31:51you're kind of stuck. Can you play
- 31:53another engine to pair with this?
- 31:55Probably, but also like Reprodocus is
- 31:58also gone so your ability to go into
- 32:00like Fiend Smith is a lot more limited.
- 32:02Like there's there's not much going on.
- 32:04Even if you go into Fiend Smith, like
- 32:05what are you going to really do here
- 32:06now? It's It's not enough. Like you're
- 32:09still dealing with Like think about how
- 32:11many steps you have to take and think
- 32:12about how Angeliky is going to open to
- 32:15E5 and limit the number of moves you're
- 32:17allowed to make. That is the problem. If
- 32:21you take away something as important as
- 32:22Cup's Yummy way which sets up multiple
- 32:24things for your deck. And then there is
- 32:26the branded. Why are you hitting branded
- 32:28so hard? What did they do? Well,
- 32:31is this just a long overdue hit? Did
- 32:34Konami just look at like Zodiac Duelist,
- 32:37like classic Yu-Gi-Oh! fans or whatever,
- 32:39and then be like, "Oh, I'll just take
- 32:41inspirations from each of these guys."
- 32:43It's like everyone submit your wish
- 32:45list. Santa's
- 32:46Santa Konami is
- 32:48granting all your wishes.
- 32:51Well, this is kind of what it looks
- 32:52like, and it is a
- 32:54a complete shake-up to the entire
- 32:55format, the entire game for that matter.
- 32:58Nothing has been this significant since
- 32:59the splitting of TCG OCG, right? So,
- 33:02well, let's go figure what else is going
- 33:04on here. Branded, how do we recover with
- 33:07the loss of two openings and one spirit?
- 33:09You can play more Alubers. And for the
- 33:12loss of the Albion,
- 33:14you might have to go back into playing
- 33:16Lubellion the Searing Dragon to get your
- 33:18Fusion plays online again. I don't think
- 33:20that's significantly that bad, but
- 33:22Albion's like one of the best things
- 33:24that Albion offered essentially was that
- 33:27you're allowed to dump uh I believe
- 33:30you're allowed to dump a Light monster
- 33:31to the graveyard. So, the Lubellion
- 33:33line, like the the Bist Lubellion line,
- 33:35I think that got cut cuz you can't
- 33:37really toss the card into the graveyard.
- 33:39Well, you technically can. I think you
- 33:41have to use Titanic Clad to kind of set
- 33:43that up. So, you might have to replace
- 33:44it with like an additional Lubellion the
- 33:46Searing Dragon and as well as another
- 33:47copy of Titanic Clad or one of the other
- 33:49Branded Dragons are available that uses
- 33:51Fallen of Albaz in the extra deck. I
- 33:53mean, you can try to make use of most of
- 33:55that utility,
- 33:56but the Fallen of Albaz virtuous slow
- 33:58down doesn't really change. That is
- 34:01still happening.
- 34:03If you can find a way to dump a card
- 34:05into the graveyard, I can fetch the card
- 34:06back, get the Fallen of Albaz virtuous
- 34:08back, but otherwise you're going to have
- 34:09to rely on say Ecclesia to be summoned
- 34:12at the very end to get you that search.
- 34:14Or you can do it early and just try to
- 34:16leave most of the Fusion related stuff
- 34:18on the board, and you're playing kind of
- 34:20a slower version of Branded, but still
- 34:23technically more advanced than when it
- 34:25was first released. That's This is a
- 34:27kind of a weird position. Again, a lot
- 34:30of these positions that these decks are
- 34:31being placed into have never really
- 34:33happened for. It's like this is like
- 34:36an alternate universe where the most
- 34:37powerful card never got released, but
- 34:39everything else kind of came about.
- 34:41Yeah. It's kind of like if Cool Tune
- 34:43never got Road Warrior, but they got
- 34:44everything else. So, it's a weak
- 34:46position, but you have more option. And
- 34:49I guess it's leaving it to the players
- 34:50to discover what's actually good, what's
- 34:52actually bad.
- 34:53But taking away two consistency pieces
- 34:55out at the same time, that is that's
- 34:57kind of mean, to be honest. Uh okay, so
- 35:00yeah, I guess they can cry on the
- 35:01shoulders of Lou Bellion. You know,
- 35:04they're well welcome home, I guess.
- 35:06Yeah, this is a this is a tough one.
- 35:09It's it's really hard to see how these
- 35:12two archetypes are going to survive. But
- 35:13I think branded players, they're strong.
- 35:15They know how to do it. They also have
- 35:16the best two profile options among their
- 35:18monsters and everything.
- 35:20They'll be fine for the most part. Sure,
- 35:23Albion no F&V pre-setup, that part still
- 35:26kind of sucks. But it's so that the
- 35:28other decks don't have access to it,
- 35:29right? So, as the Habit Hero was digging
- 35:32the grave for everyone else, um
- 35:34it itself fell in as well. Yeah, go
- 35:37figure.
- 35:38>> [laughter]
- 35:39>> It was one of the most hyped moments for
- 35:41sure when it comes to the the ban list
- 35:44chant, uh but Habit Hero is gone. It was
- 35:46the easiest thing to bridge into. In
- 35:48fact, everything got toned down
- 35:50significantly because Cyberse Witch
- 35:52exists now, and it bridge into
- 35:57the Dark Spell Casters quite easily by
- 35:59searching Illusion of Chaos, and then
- 36:00you get access to the Magician's Souls.
- 36:04Or instead, you can get access to a copy
- 36:05of Habit Hero. But there's a lot more
- 36:07ritual access thanks to the Roll Out
- 36:09package even existing. So, this is in
- 36:12another one of those like I have future
- 36:13tech, but welcome to the past where the
- 36:16most important card's not there. So,
- 36:18same idea, kind of back to the futurey.
- 36:21So, you can try like Ruler of the end of
- 36:23the world if you want to get access to,
- 36:25you know, cheating out some of the
- 36:27ritual summoning. It's a possibility,
- 36:30for sure. You can use that to dump like
- 36:32Misairugi Ritual and then just drop a
- 36:34dude. But, you're not going to be able
- 36:36to get the quick search and the
- 36:38essentially the search and the dump
- 36:41available from just having Habakiri.
- 36:45Yeah, it's it's kind of a strange place.
- 36:48But, there are more cards than before.
- 36:50You have Cyberse Contract, Witch Line
- 36:53that will use the
- 36:55Everything kind of just went straight
- 36:57into Habakiri to some degree. So, you're
- 36:59going to have to not go straight into
- 37:00Habakiri because the things that make it
- 37:02good are also the things that probably
- 37:04can save it. I'll I'll put it that way.
- 37:07Cuz
- 37:08you can kick off the engine. You can try
- 37:09different things. Ruler of the Ruler of
- 37:11the end of the world can give you quick
- 37:13access to a spell if you don't have
- 37:15access to a spell. Skull Archfiend of
- 37:16Chaos can still fetch you a card and
- 37:18still dump the Misairugi Mirror into the
- 37:22graveyard, which means you might want to
- 37:25play
- 37:26Which one was this? Kusanagi? Whatever
- 37:30whichever one that actually lets you add
- 37:31back something from banish or from
- 37:33graveyard, you know, the the the
- 37:34purple-looking one. Let that summon out.
- 37:36Let that grab it back. It's You have
- 37:38Ragged Record of Rituals that can still
- 37:41dig out your cards. You have Mirror.
- 37:43I'm going to say it still hurts, but
- 37:46>> [sighs]
- 37:46>> at least it's playable, right? You still
- 37:50have Marakumo. Marakumo is one of the
- 37:52scariest cards. You still can dig for an
- 37:54omni-negate. Although, you only have two
- 37:56searches now. Aside from like the most
- 37:59important thing from Habakiri was that
- 38:01it summoned out the Sajin out of the
- 38:03deck. I think one of the biggest issues
- 38:06is that you lost the additional like
- 38:09omni-search. You still have Trouble
- 38:10Prayers, though. So, I would say that
- 38:12the deck isn't completely dead.
- 38:15It hurts, for sure, but it's it's
- 38:17nowhere near fully dead yet, and you're
- 38:20not allowed to just dump cards. I think
- 38:23most decks that like have some level of
- 38:25like an Ash target, like the most
- 38:27important Ash target, every deck got
- 38:29something like that trimmed out of their
- 38:31deck, so that Ash is going to be even
- 38:33more effective against most decks. Yeah,
- 38:35that's actually a pretty easy way to put
- 38:37it.
- 38:37Okay, so this is a very preliminary top
- 38:39tier potential update. And now, the top
- 38:43tier potential essentially is how
- 38:45they're expected to perform, not exactly
- 38:47on how they're going to land. And I've
- 38:49included this as a couple of future
- 38:51archetypes in here because I really
- 38:53can't put everything in here. There's
- 38:55just too much, so please leave it down
- 38:56in the comments section. I would like to
- 38:58know two things. What, you know, a deck
- 39:00that you wonder that's not on this list.
- 39:02And the second thing is going to be are
- 39:05you more inclined to play Yugi Yu-Gi-Oh!
- 39:07now now that everything's kind of been
- 39:09like hit to the ground. But, you know,
- 39:12you know, leave it down in the comments
- 39:13section. I really want to know. Like,
- 39:14was this move a successful marketing
- 39:16ploy from Konami?
- 39:18You know, are is it pulling you back in?
- 39:20Would you want to go to the next
- 39:21regional?
- 39:23It's a pretty big one. All right, top
- 39:24tier potential.
- 39:26You know, the obvious one, Angeliky.
- 39:28It's going to burn people to to the
- 39:29ground. It's going to happen. Unless
- 39:31everyone decides to stop it. I think
- 39:33Ghost Ogre and Typhoon might be seeing a
- 39:35lot of main deck. All right, that's
- 39:38probably just the thing to be. I think
- 39:40it might even put people to put
- 39:43put people to put them. Okay, well, it
- 39:44might, you know, push people to put like
- 39:47Special Hurricane into their deck to
- 39:49deal with some of these cards. It is a
- 39:51non-targeting removal against some of
- 39:52these back rows, and that's that's all
- 39:54it really takes here. Next, there's Sky
- 39:56Striker. They survived. They survived
- 39:59and they got pushed to the top. They're
- 40:00very strong, and they naturally run a
- 40:02ton of quick play spells.
- 40:03Radiant Typhoon stuff weren't like
- 40:05essentially stunned, so they can even
- 40:07put in Mystical Space Typhoon to deal
- 40:09with a lot of that stuff. Like, if you
- 40:11can just directly search for Mystical
- 40:13Space Typhoon, why wouldn't you search
- 40:14for Mystical Space Typhoon if you have
- 40:15to deal with Angeliky, right? And you
- 40:18can do it during the draw phase, which
- 40:20makes it even better. Now that, you
- 40:22know, they have to try to get that E E
- 40:23for setup, they can't unless that's the
- 40:25whole point, right? You don't want them
- 40:27to get the E for setup. You know, I've
- 40:29seen so many games that kind of fall
- 40:30apart when the E for just fails. Thanks,
- 40:33there's tunes. Tunes still going to be
- 40:34very strong. Don't get me wrong. The
- 40:36rabbit is ridiculous. The ability to
- 40:37blink, the ability to just crazy search.
- 40:40There's a reason why Droll and Lock Bird
- 40:42isn't like fully banned because it still
- 40:44keeps some of these decks in check. And
- 40:46being searchable
- 40:48probably is one of the biggest advantage
- 40:50of that package. Like the D mod patch,
- 40:52so not the D mod package, but the um
- 40:54the
- 40:54Dark Magical Curtain package, that is
- 40:56being altered to be a utility engine
- 40:59rather than just being for use for
- 41:01negation. Then there's Ars Magica Power
- 41:03Patron. I think that's probably going to
- 41:04be one of the more powerful ones. There
- 41:05might be like remnants of Elf Note in
- 41:07there as well. I don't think they're
- 41:09dead just yet. They're significantly
- 41:11hurt, don't get me wrong, but I think
- 41:13anyone that knows anything about Ars
- 41:15Magica Elf Note can tell you that, you
- 41:17know, using Tenyi isn't the only line
- 41:20available.
- 41:21The other lines are a bit more resource
- 41:23intensive, but
- 41:25if you have it, you have it and it just
- 41:27makes it so that Regina opening isn't
- 41:29automatic access to Tenyi and like yeah,
- 41:33certain lines are cut, but it's still
- 41:35playable.
- 41:36Then there's Ritual Beast. I don't think
- 41:37this deck is dead because you can easily
- 41:40replace the Gryphos with the
- 41:41Multi-Caribo. Not to mention that the
- 41:43Skull uh the Skull Archfiend Dragon,
- 41:46that is insanely powerful. Being able to
- 41:49just set you up with stuff. You're
- 41:51already naturally immune to well, not
- 41:54immune, but more or less unaffected by
- 41:56Nibiru and you somehow have the best
- 41:59monsters in terms of aggression and
- 42:02offensiveness and the recursion from
- 42:03spell cards. This is still going to be
- 42:06one of the most annoying decks out there
- 42:08to my knowledge, but it's going to feel
- 42:09a lot more fair and it's not going to
- 42:11feel like an unbreakable board that you
- 42:12have to climb uphill. It's going to be
- 42:14interactive base that you guys are going
- 42:15to deal with each other. Or they're
- 42:17going to get snowballed and lucky. I
- 42:18don't know.
- 42:19They Without the Grifos, the Angelics
- 42:21definitely got a lot stronger. Then
- 42:23there's Invoked. They were essentially
- 42:25untouched.
- 42:26So, extra deck ripping is going to be a
- 42:28very big part of Invoked. So,
- 42:31that's that's all I'm going to say.
- 42:33Invoked is just chilling. Now, for a new
- 42:35deck, Raise Moon, that is going to be
- 42:38the deck to get. It is naturally immune
- 42:40to Nibiru for the most part, and it has
- 42:43a nasty combo to prevent Nibiru, prevent
- 42:45Bandit, because they're all level seven.
- 42:47So, if you can get the Raise Moon
- 42:49monster out of Maybe I shouldn't talk
- 42:50about this so soon, but I'm going to
- 42:51talk about it anyway. But one of the
- 42:53most dirty combos that I've been
- 42:54experimenting with is I put three
- 42:55Metamorphoses into this deck, and
- 42:58here's the thing.
- 43:00Uh
- 43:00Raise Moon No More Bets in the extra
- 43:03monster is unaffected by all card
- 43:04effects. So, when you have a leftover
- 43:06monster, okay, hear me out. When you
- 43:08have a leftover monster, and then you
- 43:10use Metamorphosis on it, and then you
- 43:11make Last Warrior from Another Planet,
- 43:13your opponent cannot search.
- 43:16And they cannot summon. That takes away
- 43:19so much of Yu-Gi-Oh! that I think most
- 43:22people just scoop at that point. It
- 43:24really sucks. And even if they clear the
- 43:26Last Warrior, they still have to battle
- 43:29face to clear out the No More Bets in
- 43:31the extra monster zone. Trust me, you're
- 43:34not going to enjoy
- 43:36under essentially a permanent Thunder
- 43:38Dragon. And not to mention that this
- 43:40deck has the Maxx "C". It has the search
- 43:44Maxx "C" in the deck. It has the turtle.
- 43:47In other words, it runs nine copies of
- 43:49Charmers against you, and they can
- 43:52essentially activate three. It gets
- 43:53pretty brutal. Okay, I'm going to tell
- 43:55you that right now. So, yeah, that
- 43:57There's a reason why that deck is super
- 43:59super strong. And now that Droll is down
- 44:01to one, it makes that even stronger.
- 44:04Now, for high tier potential, I I
- 44:05Branded still here. I don't think
- 44:06Branded is fully gone. I think if they
- 44:07focus on more on the ability to get the
- 44:09super poly effect off, getting the
- 44:11correct synchros out,
- 44:13and they are more or less they just they
- 44:15don't really care too much about Nibiru
- 44:17as long as they can
- 44:18revive cards and if they have access to
- 44:20F&V uh with if they're able to pop a
- 44:23card for instance or dump Rimbor into
- 44:26the graveyard, resummon, and just fuse
- 44:28off your opponent's monster, it could,
- 44:29you know, still have high impact. Then
- 44:30they have high true potential for Try
- 44:31Brigade Lyrilusc. It is the banish base
- 44:33deck. It is super annoying. It also has
- 44:36omni negates based off of the attributes
- 44:38that are banish face down. So, Nibiru
- 44:40might not even land against this
- 44:42potential deck because
- 44:43all these monsters, most of them are
- 44:45soft once per turn.
- 44:47Then there's Radiant Typhon. I think
- 44:48Radiant Typhon is a very solid choice.
- 44:49Ultimately, kind of survive they're
- 44:52dealing with
- 44:53Angeliky is not too bad considering they
- 44:56can dig for MST very, very easily and
- 44:58cycle that, too. And they can play F&V.
- 45:00They have a lot of options. So,
- 45:03this is a deck that I would not kind of
- 45:05underestimate.
- 45:07All right, it is really strong. It is It
- 45:10is very, very strong. And I think they
- 45:12just got stronger because
- 45:14um just because they exist, essentially.
- 45:17Malicious still sticking around. I think
- 45:18Malicious can bridge into Mythic Well,
- 45:21they used to bridge into Mythic. I don't
- 45:22know how strong they are now, but I I
- 45:24kind of left them here because of
- 45:25Malicious still one of those decks.
- 45:28Uh can they get hit? I think they have
- 45:30pretty resilient play, especially when
- 45:33it goes against um dealing with all
- 45:36their stuff removed. But, as long as
- 45:37they can banish, they can recur. And
- 45:38once they can recur, they're still kind
- 45:39of fully in the game. So, that's why I'm
- 45:41leaving them there. Same with Art Mage.
- 45:42Art Mage Art Mage Power Mage and
- 45:44ultimately is still a very strong deck.
- 45:45Lunalights are still here. They got
- 45:47stronger because Drawn Lockbird is gone.
- 45:49And also, Shifter's not here.
- 45:51A lot of the stuff that deal with them
- 45:53are gone. And speaking of which, I kind
- 45:55of want to kind of step back into Sky
- 45:57Striker.
- 45:58There's no spell caster. There's no
- 46:00anti-spell. There is no Secret Village
- 46:02of the spell caster, a lot of
- 46:03spell-based negations are all taken up.
- 46:05There you're really just relying on
- 46:07having the correct hand trap and
- 46:08understanding how to disrupt them.
- 46:10You're going to have to play a lot of
- 46:11hand traps, that's what I'm saying
- 46:12there. That's it for Lunalights. So now
- 46:14Lunalights they lost Babushka as part of
- 46:16their end board, but if they usually get
- 46:17to that end board, it's pretty rough.
- 46:19But without Babushka, sometimes it
- 46:21that's all it takes to kind of break
- 46:23their entire board. You just have to
- 46:24make something that's essentially immune
- 46:25to destruction. Just drop that on the
- 46:26board and all of a sudden the board's
- 46:28already cracked.
- 46:29So that's something to keep in mind.
- 46:31Then there's Atlantean Mermail, I have
- 46:34to put this one. So number one,
- 46:35Atlantean Mermail won the regional in my
- 46:37area.
- 46:38And number two, they have their hand rip
- 46:40still. They have a triple hand rip.
- 46:42Remember, they still have Deep Sea uh
- 46:45Deep Sea what is it? Minstrel?
- 46:47To look at your hand and take away your
- 46:49Droll, your Nib. If they don't see the
- 46:52the Droll, they're going to go off
- 46:53because Dragoon still at three. They
- 46:55have the craziest search engine. They
- 46:57are also the one that is going to rip
- 46:58your hand apart with Moulinglacia.
- 47:01Okay? So
- 47:02go figure. This is the one deck that
- 47:04somehow survived everything. They have
- 47:06access to Dominus Impulse cuz they're
- 47:08all water.
- 47:10This somehow kind of survived under the
- 47:12radar, but I guess cuz no one's really
- 47:14truly playing it.
- 47:16Uh the banlist hitting this many cards
- 47:19probably will put them back on the map.
- 47:21And uh I wouldn't be surprised if you
- 47:22already have this deck, might as well
- 47:24just give it another spin if you have
- 47:25nothing else better to play. Now for
- 47:27Hidden Potential, let's click. I think
- 47:29uh they're also going to be getting the
- 47:30new search card.
- 47:31Uh yeah, that's that's something.
- 47:33Synchrons, another deck that can survive
- 47:36against like Nibiru. If they have Junk
- 47:38Synchron,
- 47:40good luck dealing with that Speeder.
- 47:41You're going to have to double up on
- 47:43hand traps to deal with Speeder. And uh
- 47:46if you can somehow force the negation In
- 47:48other words, if you have two hand traps
- 47:49you can still deal with it. You can if
- 47:51you have Nib plus Imperm, you Imperm the
- 47:53Speeder when it tries to activate,
- 47:55they're going to Junk Synchron to negate
- 47:57it or kind of get rid of it. And then
- 47:59once everything kind of lands on the
- 48:00board, you can just nib them at that
- 48:01point so they don't get their proper
- 48:03synchro. But if they have follow-up,
- 48:05they will still end on maybe four
- 48:06negates against you. Then there's
- 48:08trains. Trains kind of in the same
- 48:10realm. They have an omni negate through
- 48:12Regulus, and Regulus is still available,
- 48:13and it's also searchable for them, but
- 48:14it does require them to commit a few
- 48:16cards.
- 48:17And by that time, I think they're
- 48:18already nibble-able, but they can
- 48:20potentially maybe finish with a little
- 48:22bit more.
- 48:23Fairy Tail, very strong stuff. Fairy
- 48:26Tail can be mixed with Invoked. It's
- 48:27just a spellcaster. This is like
- 48:29spellcaster slop almost, and I think
- 48:31can they actually play
- 48:34the Dark Magician package? I'm really
- 48:36wondering about that. Or are they going
- 48:37to be level four locked
- 48:39too early? I don't know. There's
- 48:41potential there, but the deck itself is
- 48:43is very strong. I'm not going to I'm not
- 48:44going to discredit it. Uh then there's
- 48:46Elf Note Synchro, or maybe just Elf
- 48:48Note. I think they're still sticking
- 48:50around, and I even have fought against
- 48:52Sacred Beast. They're very scary.
- 48:55I
- 48:56They It's just this meta is so unshapen,
- 48:59but there are, you know, certain common
- 49:02factors of, you know, what we decide to
- 49:04be the most strong threat, which likely
- 49:06is going to be Angeliki and Sky Striker,
- 49:09and probably Ro Lad, and even Invoked up
- 49:12at the very top. That's how I'm seeing
- 49:14it right now, cuz Invoked can just go
- 49:16off and rip apart your extra deck. Hyper
- 49:18Invoked Aeon is still very strong. We're
- 49:20not truly going to be stopping anything.
- 49:22If you look at whatever that's banned
- 49:23right now,
- 49:25the power ceiling of everything kind of
- 49:27came down to their level. No? Is that
- 49:30not what happened?
- 49:31Everything kind of came down to this
- 49:33level.
- 49:34But Angeliki is just miles ahead of
- 49:35everything else.
- 49:37That's all I can really say. Yeah, this
- 49:38has been a very long episode. If you
- 49:40guys have any other decks you want to
- 49:42point out, leave it down in the comment
- 49:44section. Is your deck able to play
- 49:45through any Biru? Are you supposed to
- 49:47fear Nibiru that much? Are you able to
- 49:49check your opponent's hand? I want to
- 49:50hear everything. I want to hear your
- 49:52opinion about how the format is shaping
- 49:54up and
- 49:55how it has impacted your deck cuz I have
- 49:57three decks that I need to rework and I
- 50:00really look forward to going to locals
- 50:01now because anything goes. All right?
- 50:04So, that's all I got for this damage
- 50:06report. It's a super long one. I'm
- 50:08sorry, but I'm not really sorry. Thank
- 50:11you guys for coming and tuning in. I
- 50:12know that a lot of guys have been
- 50:13waiting for this. I want to know more
- 50:15about this. I'm going to be working on
- 50:17decks and I might reopen the testing
- 50:19table and show you guys like different
- 50:21match-ups because, you know,
- 50:22everything's completely shaken up now.
- 50:25Thank you guys for watching. It's Tomb
- 50:27Box and I will look forward to seeing
- 50:28you in the next one. Bless your pulls
- 50:30and I hope you have a wonderful new
- 50:32Yu-Gi-Oh! format.
