- 0:00Buying a new motorcycle should be
- 0:02exciting, but heading into 2027,
- 0:05there are a few bikes I'd think twice
- 0:07about before putting my money down. That
- 0:10doesn't mean they're bad motorcycles.
- 0:12Some are actually among the most
- 0:14exciting bikes you can buy. The problem
- 0:17comes after that first impression. Maybe
- 0:20the price is hard to justify, the
- 0:22performance is more than you'll ever
- 0:24use, or ownership costs are higher than
- 0:26expected. Today we're counting down
- 0:28seven motorcycles from [music] Kawasaki,
- 0:31BMW, Yamaha, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson,
- 0:34and Honda. From serious performance
- 0:36[music] machines to heavyweight tourers.
- 0:38And the closer we get to number one, the
- 0:40bigger the names get, including a
- 0:42legendary Suzuki, [music] an iconic
- 0:45Harley, and one of Honda's ultimate
- 0:47touring machines. So, before you spend
- 0:49your money, here are seven motorcycles
- 0:52worth a second look heading into 2027.
- 0:55Let's start at number seven. Kawasaki KX
- 0:58[music]
- 0:59327.
- 1:00Now, this is probably one of the easiest
- 1:02motorcycles on this list to get excited
- 1:04about. A big board two-stroke Kawasaki
- 1:07arriving for 2027 immediately gets
- 1:10attention. It sounds raw, different, and
- 1:14honestly, a lot more interesting than
- 1:16simply getting another small update to
- 1:18an existing motorcycle. But before you
- 1:20see the KX 327 and immediately think, I
- 1:25need one, there's something important to
- 1:27understand. This is not a motorcycle
- 1:29designed to do everything. The KX 327 is
- 1:33a competition focused machine. It makes
- 1:36sense when you have the terrain, [music]
- 1:38the experience, and the kind of riding
- 1:40that actually allows you to enjoy what
- 1:42Kawasaki built it for. And that's where
- 1:45the buying decision becomes important.
- 1:47If [music] you're looking for something
- 1:49to commute on, ride around town, or take
- 1:52on [music] normal weekend street rides,
- 1:54this isn't that motorcycle. You're
- 1:57buying a very specialized machine,
- 1:59[music] and specialized motorcycles are
- 2:01amazing when they match your lifestyle,
- 2:04but they can become [music] expensive
- 2:05garage decorations when they don't. So,
- 2:09I wouldn't avoid the KX 327
- 2:12because there's something wrong with it.
- 2:14I'd simply ask [music] one question
- 2:16before buying it. Where am I actually
- 2:19going to ride this thing? If you already
- 2:21have a good answer, the KX 327 could be
- 2:25exactly what you've been waiting for.
- 2:27But if you don't, think twice before
- 2:29putting your money down. Number six, the
- 2:32BMW S1000RR.
- 2:34This is where the conversation changes
- 2:36completely because nobody needs to be
- 2:38[music] convinced that the S1000RR
- 2:40is fast. It's a serious superbike with
- 2:43the performance, electronics, [music]
- 2:45braking hardware, and engineering to
- 2:48deliver an experience that most normal
- 2:50street riders will never come close to
- 2:53fully exploiting. And that is actually
- 2:55the problem for some buyers. Walk
- 2:57[music] into a BMW dealership, see an
- 3:00S1000RR sitting there, and it's very
- 3:03easy to start buying with your heart
- 3:05instead of your head, but then think
- 3:07about where you'll actually ride it. If
- 3:09most of your time is spent on normal
- 3:11roads, dealing with traffic, speed
- 3:14limits, and short weekend rides, how
- 3:16often are you really going to access
- 3:18what this motorcycle can do, and the
- 3:21purchase price isn't the only number
- 3:22that matters? Insurance can matter,
- 3:25tires matter, maintenance matters, and
- 3:28high performance motorcycles can turn
- 3:30normal ownership expenses [music] into
- 3:32something you definitely want to
- 3:34understand before signing the paperwork.
- 3:37Now, if you regularly go to track days
- 3:40and genuinely want superbike level
- 3:42performance, this argument changes
- 3:44completely, the S1000RR
- 3:47can make a lot of sense for that rider.
- 3:50But if you simply want a fast street
- 3:51bike, there are motorcycles that can
- 3:53give you more usable performance for
- 3:55considerably less commitment. So again,
- 3:59this isn't about calling the BMW a bad
- 4:02motorcycle. It's about asking whether
- 4:04you actually need everything you're
- 4:06paying for. Number five, Yamaha YZ R9.
- 4:10The R9 might actually be the most
- 4:12complicated buying decision of these
- 4:14first three because on paper, the idea
- 4:16makes a lot of sense. [music] You get
- 4:18aggressive Yamaha R series styling.
- 4:20Serious performance [music] and a
- 4:22motorcycle positioned below the extreme
- 4:24leader bike experience. For a lot of
- 4:27riders, [music] that sounds like the
- 4:28perfect middle ground. But middle ground
- 4:31can work both ways. Before buying an R9,
- 4:35I'd look very carefully at what I
- 4:37actually want from my next motorcycle.
- 4:39If your priority is everyday street
- 4:42riding with occasional aggressive
- 4:43[music] weekend riding, do you really
- 4:46need to spend this much? A less [music]
- 4:48expensive sport bike may already give
- 4:50you more performance than you can
- 4:52realistically use on public roads. But
- 4:55then look in the other direction. If
- 4:57maximum performance is what you really
- 4:59want and you're already [music] spending
- 5:02serious money, you may start looking at
- 5:04what spending a little more gets you and
- 5:07suddenly the R9 is sitting right in the
- 5:10middle of two very different decisions.
- 5:12That doesn't make it a bad place to be.
- 5:14In fact, for the right rider, [music]
- 5:16that could be exactly why the R9 makes
- 5:19sense. You get something more serious
- 5:21than an entry-level sport bike without
- 5:24immediately jumping into the intensity
- 5:26of a full literclass superbike. But
- 5:29don't buy it simply because it has an R
- 5:31badge and looks incredible in the
- 5:33showroom. Compare the price. Compare the
- 5:36insurance. Sit on the bike. [music]
- 5:39Think about where you actually ride.
- 5:41Because the best motorcycle isn't always
- 5:43the fastest or the newest one. It's the
- 5:46one that actually fits the way you ride.
- 5:48And with the first three out of the way,
- 5:50we're getting into the serious part
- 5:51[music] of this list. Number four, the
- 5:54Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R. The ZX6R is a name
- 5:58that really doesn't need an introduction
- 6:00for sport bike fans. With its 636cc
- 6:04super sport character, aggressive riding
- 6:06position, and high revving performance,
- 6:09[music] this bike still delivers a
- 6:11proper super sport experience. But what
- 6:13makes the ZX6R so exciting can also
- 6:16become a problem for some riders. It's
- 6:18very easy to walk into a showroom, see a
- 6:21ZX6R, and immediately want one. Living
- 6:24with it everyday, however, can be a
- 6:26different [music] story. The aggressive
- 6:28seating position, heat in traffic,
- 6:30insurance costs, and overall Super Sport
- 6:33ownership expenses become much more
- 6:35noticeable [music] when most of your
- 6:37riding happens on normal roads instead
- 6:39of a racetrack. If you genuinely want
- 6:41the super sport experience, enjoy
- 6:43weekend canyon rides, or plan on doing
- 6:46track days, [music]
- 6:47then the ZX6R has a very clear purpose.
- 6:50But if you simply want a fast motorcycle
- 6:52that's also comfortable enough to use
- 6:54everyday, ask yourself one [music]
- 6:56important question before buying. Do you
- 6:59really want a super sport or do you just
- 7:02want super sport performance? And now we
- 7:04move to number three, the Suzuki
- 7:06Hayabusa. This is where things get a
- 7:09little different. The Hayabusa isn't
- 7:11just another motorcycle. It's a
- 7:13legendary name. Its 1 10,340cc
- 7:17engine, unmistakable [music] bodywork,
- 7:19and straight line performance have given
- 7:21it a unique place in the motorcycle
- 7:23world for years. But when you're buying
- 7:26a Hayabusa, horsepower and reputation
- 7:29shouldn't be the only things you
- 7:31consider. This is a big, heavy
- 7:33motorcycle. Moving it around a parking
- 7:35lot, handling it at low speeds, or
- 7:38dealing with city traffic can feel very
- 7:40different from the acceleration runs you
- 7:42see on YouTube. So, the real question
- 7:45is, [music] what are you actually buying
- 7:47it for? If you want longd distance speed
- 7:50stability and that [music] unmistakable
- 7:52Habusa character, there aren't many
- 7:55motorcycles that deliver the same kind
- 7:57of experience. But if most of your
- 7:59riding happens around town and you're
- 8:01mainly buying it because, well, it's a
- 8:04Hayabusa, take a test ride first and
- 8:07think carefully about what real world
- 8:09ownership will actually look like
- 8:11because we've now reached the part
- 8:13[music] of the list where it's no longer
- 8:14just about performance, price, and
- 8:17long-term ownership start becoming a
- 8:19much bigger part of the decision. Number
- 8:22two, the Harley-Davidson Street Glide.
- 8:25When you hear Street Glide, you
- 8:27immediately think of a certain kind of
- 8:29American touring motorcycle, a big
- 8:31[music] front fairing, lowslung stance,
- 8:34V twin character, and the kind of
- 8:36highway presence Harley-Davidson has
- 8:38[music] built its reputation around. And
- 8:40that's why for many buyers, the Street
- 8:42Glide isn't just about specifications.
- 8:45People buy it for the look, sound,
- 8:48comfort, and the Harley experience. But
- 8:50before buying one, there's a practical
- 8:52question you need to ask. Do you really
- 8:55need a touring motorcycle this big? The
- 8:58Street Glide size and weight can feel
- 9:00reassuring on the highway, but you'll
- 9:02notice them much more in parking lots,
- 9:04garages, slow speed turns, and crowded
- 9:07city traffic. And the cost doesn't end
- 9:09with the showroom price. Add insurance,
- 9:12servicing, tires, accessories, and
- 9:15customization, and the ownership budget
- 9:17can climb quickly. If you regularly take
- 9:20long highway trips, travel with a
- 9:22passenger, and want that traditional
- 9:24American bagger experience, the Street
- 9:27Glide has a very clear purpose. But if
- 9:30most of your [music] rides are short and
- 9:32the bike will spend much of its time in
- 9:34city traffic, don't make the decision
- 9:36based only on the Harley badge and
- 9:38showroom presence. Take a test ride. Pay
- 9:41attention to low-speed handling and find
- 9:44out the full out the-do cost. Because at
- 9:46this price point, a motorcycle shouldn't
- 9:48just look right. It needs [music] to fit
- 9:50the way you actually ride. And now we've
- 9:53reached number one, the Honda Gold Wing
- 9:55Tour Airbag Automatic DCT. The Gold Wing
- 9:59is very different from the other
- 10:00motorcycles on this list. It isn't
- 10:02simply trying to be fast or stylish. Its
- 10:05entire purpose is to make long-d
- 10:07distanceance touring more comfortable,
- 10:09refined, and effortless. The automatic
- 10:12DCT, touring focused equipment, and
- 10:15especially the integrated airbag system
- 10:17make it a very unusual package in the
- 10:19motorcycle world. But the Gold Wing
- 10:22isn't at [music] number one because it's
- 10:24a bad motorcycle. The real question is,
- 10:27how many riders actually need this much
- 10:29motorcycle? The Gold Wing Tour Airbag
- 10:31DCT is a [music] big, heavy, premium
- 10:34machine. On the open highway, that size,
- 10:36wind protection, and comfort [music] can
- 10:38become major strengths. But during
- 10:40everyday city riding, tight parking, or
- 10:43simply moving it around the garage,
- 10:46you're going to notice that weight. And
- 10:48then there's the price. When you're
- 10:50spending serious money on a motorcycle,
- 10:53it isn't enough to simply think this is
- 10:55the [music] ultimate Gold Wing, you need
- 10:57to ask yourself, do I actually do enough
- 11:00[music] long-d distanceance touring to
- 11:01take advantage of all this comfort,
- 11:03technology, and premium [music]
- 11:05equipment? If the answer is yes, the
- 11:08Gold Wing Tour Airbag DCT can deliver a
- 11:11very [music] special touring experience.
- 11:13But if you only take a handful of short
- 11:15rides each year, you could be spending a
- 11:17lot of money on capabilities [music]
- 11:19you'll rarely use. And that's really the
- 11:21point of this entire list. From the KX
- 11:24327
- 11:26all the way to the Gold Wing, we're not
- 11:28saying these seven motorcycles [music]
- 11:30are bad bikes. Some of them are
- 11:32outstanding machines in their
- 11:34categories. The point is simple. Heading
- 11:37into 2027, don't buy a motorcycle just
- 11:40because of horsepower, the badge, the
- 11:42looks, or that first showroom
- 11:44impression. Think about how you ride.
- 11:47Think about what you actually need and
- 11:49look at the total cost of ownership.
- 11:52Then ask yourself one final question.
- 11:54Does the motorcycle you're paying for
- 11:56really the right motorcycle for you?
