  16. 1:07signs of activity by federal
  17. 1:09investigators yesterday law men made a
  18. 1:12second trip to Richard Jewell's former
  19. 1:14home in Habersham County agents bagged
  20. 1:16potential evidence they also removed
  21. 1:18paint samples and took photographs other
  22. 1:21investigators went to a Tokyo Hills
  23. 1:23hardware store asking about pipe that
  24. 1:26might have been used to make the bomb we
  25. 1:28informed him we didn't have to inch a
  26. 1:30galvanized pipe and we showed him the
  27. 1:32pipe bin so he could see for himself we
  28. 1:34didn't have and basically that was it
  29. 1:38there's been speculation that the bomb
  30. 1:40contained concrete nails the manager of
  31. 1:43the hardware store said the agents never
  32. 1:45asked him anything about nails Jewell
  33. 1:47made a brief appearance outside his
  34. 1:49apartment last evening on Wednesday
  35. 1:51dozens of FBI and ATF agents were in
  36. 1:53jewels residence and carried off box
  37. 1:55after box of materials
  38. 1:57apparently searching for that key piece
  39. 1:59of evidence it was the first time agents
  40. 2:06had met face to face with Richard Jewell
  41. 2:08in 3 and a half days
  42. 2:09Jules lawyer was there but he wouldn't
  43. 2:12comment as he left counselor can we just
  44. 2:14ask you what the attorney later told AP
  45. 2:19that agents took samples of jewels hair
  46. 2:22and fingerprints but we're told no when
  47. 2:24they asked to tape jewels voice was a
  48. 2:27voice over a telephone near Centennial
  49. 2:29Park that called 911 is a we believe a
  50. 2:34white male with an indistinguishable
  51. 2:37accent I just happened to be at the
  52. 2:39right place at the right time and did
  53. 2:43the job that I was trained to do
  54. 2:45vestigators have declined to comment on
  55. 2:47a report that a comparison of jewels
  56. 2:49voice and the 911
  57. 2:52no similarities agents Saturday returned
  58. 2:55to Piedmont College in Demarest
  59. 2:57they seem to be concentrating on a
  60. 2:59maintenance shed on campus Richard
  61. 3:01Jewell was a security guard at college
  62. 3:03investigators may feel that jewel could
  63. 3:06well have had a key to that maintenance
  64. 3:08building
  65. 3:11tymberlee we're live at the Monaco
  66. 3:13Square Apartments on Buford Highway
  67. 3:15where we now have new developments in
  68. 3:18the ongoing investigation of the
  69. 3:19Centennial Park bombing this is the
  70. 3:22apartment complex that is the residence
  71. 3:23of 33 year old Richard Jewell Jewell as
  72. 3:27you recall is the AT&T security guard
  73. 3:30who first discovered the backpack at the
  74. 3:32park Friday night before it went off he
  75. 3:35is the one who alerted law enforcement
  76. 3:37officials to the backpack and may have
  77. 3:39bought them precious time time to get
  78. 3:42additional people out of the park before
  79. 3:44it went off killing two people and
  80. 3:46wounding over a hundred others well just
  81. 3:48moments ago the FBI was here at this
  82. 3:51apartment complex they came through a
  83. 3:52crowd of reporters they went up the
  84. 3:54steps to jewels apartment which is on
  85. 3:56the second floor of this building behind
  86. 3:58me they did not identify themselves to
  87. 4:00reporters but at the door we heard them
  88. 4:02identify themselves as FBI agents to
  89. 4:04jewel the two FBI agents were allowed in
  90. 4:07they spent about ten minutes inside and
  91. 4:09came back out again saying nothing to
  92. 4:11the media they were followed close
  93. 4:13behind by mr. Jewell who also did not
  94. 4:16say much but he did say that he was not
  95. 4:18under arrest at the time that he was
  96. 4:20leaving the apartment complex this
  97. 4:25morning he was a man with Olympic gold
  98. 4:28medal hero status the alert security
  99. 4:30guard who spotted the deadly backpack
  100. 4:32and saved lives I will say everyone has
  101. 4:36been very nice tonight
  102. 4:39he's the FBI's prime suspect in the
  103. 4:41Centennial Park bombing I'm sure they're
  104. 4:43investigating every woman that was in
  105. 4:45the area that may be but it was 33 year
  106. 4:48old Richard Jewell who left his Buford
  107. 4:50Highway apartment this afternoon headed
  108. 4:53to Atlanta FBI headquarters with two
  109. 4:55federal agents close behind then after
  110. 4:57three hours of questioning he calmly
  111. 4:59returned with a knapsack in his hand
  112. 5:05categorically yes why are they
  113. 5:08questioning you part of the process and
  114. 5:14they've talked to me about with jewel
  115. 5:18inside his apartment and FBI and police
  116. 5:20posted outside the door his attorney
  117. 5:23told waiting reporters Richard Jewell is
  118. 5:25not the Centennial Park bomber being a
  119. 5:32hero
  120. 5:34Jim Schuler 11 News team 96 33 year old
  121. 5:43Richard Jewell has spent most of today
  122. 5:45is sitting on some steps just outside
  123. 5:47his mother's Buford Highway apartment
  124. 5:49while FBI and ATF agents turn it upside
  125. 5:51down looking for clues as they remove
  126. 5:53boxes of material Jules attorney finally
  127. 5:55admitted his client is the suspect still
  128. 5:58maintains he isn't guilty of anything
  129. 5:59have they found anything inside here
  130. 6:01knowledge no no and I don't think
  131. 6:03they're gonna either and frankly we
  132. 6:05welcome this because then this thing is
  133. 6:06going to be over more than a hundred of
  134. 6:08the world's news media and even some
  135. 6:10sightseers recorded every move
  136. 6:11especially when bomb sniffing dogs
  137. 6:13checked out the apartment complex
  138. 6:15despite their search warrant despite
  139. 6:16sources who called jewel the chief
  140. 6:18suspect in this case and despite the
  141. 6:20fact that they towed away his truck
  142. 6:21today the FBI has taken great pains to
  143. 6:24point out he isn't charged with anything
  144. 6:26at this point
  145. 6:26search is part of an ongoing
  146. 6:27investigative process
  147. 6:30indicate in any way that mr. Jewell has
  148. 6:33been charged with a crime under our
  149. 6:34system of justice
