Assetto Corsa Rally - Community Q&A #3 — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:08Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome
- 0:09to the third community Q&A for Assetto
- 0:11Corsa Rally. As always, I've come
- 0:13through your questions submitted in the
- 0:15Discord server and we're very grateful
- 0:16for your support and feedback that
- 0:17you've shown us across social media and
- 0:19but also on our Discord server in
- 0:20particular.
- 0:22Joining me on the stage is Supernares
- 0:23creative and game director Irvin Zonca.
- 0:25How you doing? Welcome.
- 0:28>> Hey Ben, I'm doing great. Thanks. Ciao
- 0:30tutti rally people.
- 0:33>> Good. I'm glad. Um I'm going to get
- 0:35straight on with it because I've got
- 0:36loads of questions I want to try and
- 0:37smash through. Um and ideally we want to
- 0:39keep this around about 30 minutes. And
- 0:42um unfortunately, I apologize. We are
- 0:44starting off pretty strong. Uh we've got
- 0:46a question from Philippa Bassil, I'm
- 0:49hoping I'm pronouncing that correctly,
- 0:51which is what's your opinions on Niels
- 0:53Heusinkveld's
- 0:54criticism/opinion/suggestion
- 0:57on the current ACR's throttle model.
- 1:01>> Uh yeah, we we we we really are starting
- 1:04off very strong, I think.
- 1:08Well, well,
- 1:09we really like Niels' approach to
- 1:11things, honestly. And
- 1:15of course, we've watched
- 1:17his videos among many others from other
- 1:20channels and and creators and players.
- 1:25I think that
- 1:26his [clears throat] videos are always
- 1:27very interesting,
- 1:29respectful,
- 1:31and and also he's got a lot of
- 1:32expertise. So, this makes it even more
- 1:38accurate in terms of
- 1:40of feedback.
- 1:42He released a new video just a couple of
- 1:44days ago, something like that. I
- 1:46remember watching it yeah, just a few
- 1:49nights ago
- 1:50with great interest, honestly, as
- 1:52always.
- 1:53So,
- 1:54I must say that we pay close attention
- 1:56to his feedback and it's very valuable.
- 1:59Of course,
- 2:00every developer has their own approach.
- 2:04Um
- 2:05so, we may
- 2:07have a slightly different approach to
- 2:10what Niels has in mind, of course, and
- 2:13let's also keep in mind that AC R is
- 2:15still heavily work in progress. But, we
- 2:19always take players' opinions into
- 2:21account when possible.
- 2:23Uh especially in cases like these one
- 2:26where where I mean
- 2:28Niels is also a
- 2:30game and physics developer. So, this
- 2:33makes it even more interesting for us.
- 2:36Regarding the throttle model in
- 2:38particularly,
- 2:40uh we have already revised it once after
- 2:42the initial release, I think a couple of
- 2:45updates ago. I cannot remember exactly
- 2:48at the moment.
- 2:49Uh further improvements are already
- 2:52planned anyways, but updating,
- 2:55validating the model, changing it,
- 2:57tweaking it takes time. So, this is
- 3:00something that we will keep improving.
- 3:03And and I must say we we are also
- 3:05curious anytime we we do something to
- 3:07see what's the reaction from
- 3:10from people and creators that follow our
- 3:13game
- 3:14often or from time to time.
- 3:16Um I think that part of Niels' feedback
- 3:20also concerns the tire model,
- 3:23uh which is continuously evolving as
- 3:25well. Um
- 3:27in upcoming
- 3:29updates, so 0.6, 0.7, etc., it will
- 3:33become
- 3:34even more predictable and consistent.
- 3:37So, for instance, in June, we had
- 3:39another
- 3:41field research test with the University
- 3:43of Naples, uh the Megaride
- 3:46laboratory.
- 3:48We have equipped another car with the
- 3:50gravel tires to take more data from the
- 3:53tires specifically. So, we keep
- 3:56improving. We keep maximizing the
- 3:58possibilities of evolving the simulator
- 4:02and we will do it uh
- 4:04not just until 1.0, but even after that.
- 4:07So, for us 1.0 is where we reach
- 4:11a point where we consider the game to be
- 4:13a solid base mode base game and then we
- 4:17keep improving it.
- 4:20>> Amazing.
- 4:21I'm really glad to hear that cuz um
- 4:23yeah, like I said before, this is
- 4:25something that is obviously quite a hot
- 4:26topic for the community. Um
- 4:29a quite strong point, but yeah, thank
- 4:31you for addressing that.
- 4:32So, next question comes from Marco, who
- 4:35asks, "How long does it take to create a
- 4:37car from scratch?"
- 4:41>> [clears throat]
- 4:42>> Too long. Too long.
- 4:44Uh
- 4:45well, to answer, let's start by by
- 4:49doing a little recap of what it takes to
- 4:52to to create a car because it involves
- 4:55many different stages.
- 4:57Uh first, we have to secure the license
- 4:59agreement.
- 5:00Uh locate the real vehicle because we
- 5:03perform the laser scan photography and
- 5:06we
- 5:08um also take detailed workshop
- 5:10measurements over the car and the
- 5:12chassis to to then tune the physics
- 5:15model. We begin the 3D modeling.
- 5:203D modeling. We have to develop the
- 5:22damage system for each car, complete the
- 5:25car, and
- 5:26put it in game by connecting all the
- 5:29blueprints, etc. with Unreal Engine. And
- 5:32finally, when it's ready, we can submit
- 5:34it
- 5:35uh for approval again to the
- 5:37manufacturer.
- 5:38Yeah, once it's finished.
- 5:40Uh so, I would say it takes around 6
- 5:44months to complete.
- 5:47>> Wow.
- 5:48>> And of course it's not 6 months by one
- 5:50people one one person. It's 6 months
- 5:55calendar months and many people are
- 5:58involved in the process from many groups
- 6:02and also external people that takes care
- 6:04of scanning etc.
- 6:07>> I would love to
- 6:08um
- 6:09I'd love to see the different processes
- 6:11that have to go through
- 6:13creating a car.
- 6:14That's got to be really exciting cuz I I
- 6:16imagine
- 6:17as a as a bit of a nerd myself I think
- 6:19it would be so good to
- 6:21see the behind the scenes of that.
- 6:23Maybe that's something we can do in a in
- 6:24a future video if we have that footage.
- 6:26>> [laughter]
- 6:27>> We'd love to and the team would love to
- 6:29because we we we
- 6:32the effort to produce it is so much and
- 6:35the passion we we we all put into these
- 6:38vehicles from yeah really locating them
- 6:41to to produce them is so much that I
- 6:44think that that we would love uh
- 6:48the players to really understand all the
- 6:50process behind it and also it would be a
- 6:52good occasion to
- 6:53to to see all the tiny details that are
- 6:56in every car that's maybe sometimes you
- 6:58don't even spot when playing.
- 7:03>> Okay.
- 7:04Well, let's move on to the question from
- 7:06Valeria. So Valeria asks, is there a
- 7:08major revamp of the menu planned before
- 7:10official release? Right now the UX is
- 7:12pretty confusing and for the common user
- 7:15a difficult [snorts] UX is a big
- 7:16problem. Not a problem for a release
- 7:18preview product. I just hope that the
- 7:19team sees
- 7:21uh sees how much this is critical before
- 7:23official release.
- 7:26>> I see. I see.
- 7:27Um
- 7:28>> [clears throat]
- 7:29>> Well, we don't have any plans for a
- 7:33redesign honestly.
- 7:35Um
- 7:36internally we are happy with the current
- 7:38UX.
- 7:39>> [snorts]
- 7:40>> And we have also got positive feedback
- 7:44about it, but this said, uh that clears
- 7:48my my my position and the team's
- 7:50position,
- 7:51I think on on this topic. Uh I will say
- 7:54that given the question, it's likely
- 7:56that um
- 7:57Valerio, right?
- 7:59>> Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:00>> Okay, it's likely that Valerio has found
- 8:03some part he may consider unclear or for
- 8:06any reason are a sort of blocker to his
- 8:09experience. So,
- 8:11uh if he has got time and is willing to
- 8:13share more details on the server with
- 8:15more would be more than happy to read
- 8:17the feedback and even when possible take
- 8:20it into account maybe for a future
- 8:22improvement. Of course, I
- 8:24I don't know the details so I know
- 8:26regarding the feedback, so I cannot
- 8:28promise anything because I'm not sure
- 8:30what we're talking about, but
- 8:32uh
- 8:33of course, a feedback is always an
- 8:35interesting feedback even if it cannot
- 8:37lead maybe to some major change. So, I
- 8:40don't know if if he's if he's got time
- 8:42to share more, I would be happy to read.
- 8:46>> Then, I'll keep an eye out for Valerio's
- 8:48feedback and I'll pass it straight on.
- 8:51The next question comes from Gribo62,
- 8:53who asks, "The single factor that would
- 8:55ensure long longevity of the title would
- 8:57be to have community clubs. Synchronous
- 9:00lobbies are all very well, but people
- 9:02all over the world could run a club
- 9:03rally at the same time that suits them.
- 9:05Someone hosting a lobby in their time
- 9:07zone is only going to be able to race
- 9:09with others who are in or near their
- 9:10time zone, for example, in the UK. Uh a
- 9:13club that is set up to be run over a
- 9:15week, for example, would be able to run
- 9:16by anyone irrespective of their
- 9:18location.
- 9:22Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I agree, and it's a
- 9:24topic that has been uh discussed many
- 9:27time uh uh with the team uh from the
- 9:31very initial game design phases. So,
- 9:34um internally, we're building our own
- 9:37online infrastructure so that we can
- 9:39support some form of club mode in the
- 9:41future. So, that is a must for the way
- 9:44we have created the online uh
- 9:47uh infrastructure because we didn't want
- 9:49to cut this opportunity out. So, it's
- 9:52definitely a feature we'd like to have.
- 9:55Um I cannot say when it will be ready,
- 9:59uh but this is something we we want and
- 10:01we agree that is uh
- 10:03key
- 10:05for um
- 10:07for letting uh play for giving the
- 10:09players the best way to enjoy the
- 10:11competition even in
- 10:13in this kind of um asynchronous mode.
- 10:17And uh I I totally get it and I agree.
- 10:21>> Awesome.
- 10:22Uh next question comes from Subspace
- 10:24Corridor, who asks, "Are there plans to
- 10:26make additional licensed liveries for
- 10:28the cars that are already in the game?"
- 10:32>> Um yes. Yes, there are. Uh with
- 10:35uh I I I'm also livery guy. I love uh
- 10:39car liveries uh
- 10:41>> [laughter]
- 10:41>> uh
- 10:42colors and sponsors, etc. So,
- 10:45as as our players already know, um
- 10:49uh now it's um we must
- 10:52pick features and focus on core stuff,
- 10:55etc., etc. So, we had to postpone this
- 10:58kind of thing, but uh yeah, there are
- 11:00plans in the future and
- 11:02we are also we are also working on a way
- 11:05to make it easier
- 11:07uh for the for the users to integrate um
- 11:11uh user-created liveries into the game.
- 11:13So, I think that we will provide players
- 11:16with two kinds of things here, official
- 11:19liveries made by us when it will be
- 11:21possible,
- 11:22and uh and also
- 11:24uh uh a more streamlined and easier way
- 11:28to maybe collect the liveries inside a
- 11:30folder or whatever to to see them
- 11:33quickly into the uh game manual and the
- 11:35game. [clears throat]
- 11:38>> It's exciting. Look forward to that.
- 11:40Uh so next question comes from Raptor
- 11:42who asks, are there plans to include a
- 11:44free camera {slash} free stationary
- 11:46camera mode or the equivalent of the
- 11:48drone following camera mode from Assetto
- 11:50Corsa in ACR? Can't wait to make
- 11:52cinematics with the detailed car driver
- 11:54and driver animations.
- 11:57>> Um it's part of our game design. Yeah,
- 12:00but we don't have a timeline for it yet.
- 12:03Uh what I can say is that and
- 12:06also an advanced photo mode is planned.
- 12:09So, the current replace uh replace
- 12:12system
- 12:14uh that you see
- 12:16altogether a photo mode is not in its
- 12:18final form, let's say. So, this is um
- 12:22this is part of all the additional
- 12:25systems and feature we will add in the
- 12:28future.
- 12:31>> Thank you.
- 12:32Uh the next question is from Rob Russo
- 12:35who asks, and this is talking regarding
- 12:36replays, so will they be savable in
- 12:39future updates? As fun as it is to stop
- 12:41and record various views after a run, it
- 12:43kind of breaks up the driving flow.
- 12:48>> Uh well,
- 12:49the system the replay system that we
- 12:51have created uh at the moment um
- 12:55is already designed to allow to allow uh
- 12:59let's say users to save replays.
- 13:03So, um
- 13:05this is something that it's technically
- 13:07possible in terms of um
- 13:11in terms of technical feature.
- 13:14In the future, we'll work on a in-game
- 13:17replay management system to make this
- 13:19feature available to players
- 13:22uh so that everybody will be able to
- 13:24enjoy it. So, the The
- 13:25is that we have something um already uh
- 13:29working in this
- 13:32regarding the replay save system and we
- 13:34use it to create trailers or video etc.
- 13:38But at the moment what is missing is a
- 13:41user interface
- 13:43integrated into the game. That of course
- 13:45takes time to make.
- 13:48So yeah, yeah, it will I don't have a
- 13:50deadline for this. But that the core
- 13:53tech is there. So I confirm it's
- 13:56possible and it will arrive.
- 13:59>> Amazing. Look forward to that. I'm
- 14:00always excited by a good juicy replay. I
- 14:03can't wait.
- 14:04>> Yeah, yeah.
- 14:06>> Next question comes from Mario who asks
- 14:08will there be an in-depth dev blog that
- 14:11goes into how some of these systems you
- 14:12guys are building work? Would be
- 14:14interesting to hear about the small
- 14:15details that go into it.
- 14:18>> We've discussed it internally several
- 14:20times.
- 14:21Even with you Ben, if I remember
- 14:24correctly. And it's something that we'd
- 14:26really really like to do.
- 14:29We'd love to show to players
- 14:33how much stuff is in the game, how we do
- 14:36it, and it would be also very
- 14:39>> [clears throat]
- 14:39>> good moment for us to to be able to
- 14:41communicate
- 14:43more things with with with our
- 14:45community. Unfortunately, we are very
- 14:48small team and we're fully focused on
- 14:50development. So we simply haven't had
- 14:53the time to dedicate to it yet. But
- 14:56hopefully in the future, maybe I don't
- 14:58know, maybe after 1.0 something.
- 15:01>> [laughter]
- 15:02>> Yeah. I mean personally I'm I'm
- 15:04very much wanting to get stuff like this
- 15:06out the door because
- 15:07I think it's you know, again as a fan
- 15:09myself, it's so
- 15:12important to me to really know what goes
- 15:13behind the scenes and understand the
- 15:15care and attention that especially
- 15:17Supernova in particular into making AC
- 15:19Rally what it is.
- 15:22Yeah, it'd be really good to show that
- 15:23to the world.
- 15:25Oh, next question comes from Soviet Dog
- 15:27who asks, "Since there's been a lot of
- 15:29demand, do you plan to add the co-pilot
- 15:31in Portuguese? I believe it's a large
- 15:32and active community and they would
- 15:34genuinely love to have the co-pilot in
- 15:36their language."
- 15:39>> I see. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:42Portuguese rally fans have always been
- 15:44among the most passionate ever. If you
- 15:47remember all the footage of crowd in the
- 15:52'80s and the '90s, but not just that.
- 15:55Yeah,
- 15:56they love rally very, very much.
- 15:59Localization is something that we
- 16:00discuss with our publisher, 505 Games.
- 16:03What I can say is that
- 16:05as developers, we hope to add more
- 16:08languages in the future. And I'd also
- 16:11like to introduce female co-driver voice
- 16:15sometime in the future, but
- 16:17However, however, sorry, [clears throat]
- 16:19I don't have any further information to
- 16:21share at the moment regarding this
- 16:23point. So, consider it noted,
- 16:27but nothing is
- 16:30planned yet.
- 16:33>> Understandable.
- 16:34I'm I'm almost certain I'm going to mess
- 16:35this person's name up, but I'm going to
- 16:37try anyway.
- 16:38Rally at all right, asks, "Are there any
- 16:41plans to integrate head or eye tracking
- 16:43systems into the game? TrackIR offers a
- 16:45ready-made SDK for the UE engine games
- 16:48which you could hopefully adopt
- 16:50directly."
- 16:53>> I don't think we will be able to do it
- 16:56before version 1.0, honestly, but I hope
- 16:59it will be possible in the future. I
- 17:02I know the technology, so I know what
- 17:04we're talking about, but
- 17:07I think that this will be part of all
- 17:09the
- 17:10things that we will keep adding to the
- 17:11game even after we will call it 1.0
- 17:15because our
- 17:17our vision is a very long-term vision.
- 17:20So, 1.0 will be one of the milestones of
- 17:23the project, but
- 17:25let's say we would we'd like to make ACR
- 17:28um let's say a comprehensive
- 17:32uh rally simulator, a solid base
- 17:36uh that that will be there
- 17:39in the future, not just in the past or
- 17:41the present.
- 17:45>> The next question comes from Snow
- 17:46Chickenburg, who asks, "So far, you have
- 17:49been focusing on adding world-renowned
- 17:51cars. Are there plans to add more
- 17:53lesser-known and locally known cars?"
- 17:56>> Well, I wish we could go on forever
- 17:59because I
- 18:00uh I love the user the user usernames.
- 18:05So, I'd like to hear more.
- 18:07And regarding the question, um yeah,
- 18:11we we do have plans in in that
- 18:13direction. Um
- 18:16>> [clears throat]
- 18:16>> one of the things I've always loved
- 18:18about rallying is how let's let's say
- 18:22relatable it is uh because the cars that
- 18:25compete are the same ones that people
- 18:28see
- 18:29or used to see on the roads every day.
- 18:32So, it's nice to find them in a
- 18:34simulator.
- 18:36Since the question, I would say that in
- 18:38Italy, for example, during the '90s, you
- 18:41could watch cars like the Fiat Uno Turbo
- 18:44competing in rallies.
- 18:46Uh and it was even tested by Toivonen,
- 18:49and it was a very popular road car at
- 18:51the time. I'd like to have it in game.
- 18:53It's a uh classic, let's say, hot hatch
- 18:58that that I really loved when I was a
- 19:00child. Um I also had the opportunity to
- 19:03find an extremely rare car at the Gino
- 19:06Macaluso Foundation,
- 19:08uh the Fiat X1/9 Abarth Prototipo. Uh
- 19:13this car was originally intended to
- 19:15replace the Stratos within the Fiat
- 19:17Lancia rally program,
- 19:19but then uh they decided to go with the
- 19:22131 Abarth
- 19:24because it was coming from a saloon car,
- 19:27you know.
- 19:28But the Fiat X1/9 was already uh
- 19:32uh
- 19:33uh race ready, let's say. Uh it was also
- 19:36driven as a co-driver by Gino Macaluso,
- 19:38who was uh the head of the Abarth
- 19:41program at the time.
- 19:42Um it's an exceptional car that
- 19:45uh as far as I know has never been
- 19:47featured in a rally game, and I'd like
- 19:49to to bring it into the game.
- 19:53>> Amazing.
- 19:54Uh next question comes from JWT1986,
- 19:58which asks, "What noob-friendly settings
- 20:00are planned for game controller players?
- 20:03Thinking along the lines of options to
- 20:05press the brake trigger to reverse
- 20:06whilst in automatic, or not needing a
- 20:08clutch bind to properly start the
- 20:10front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive
- 20:11cars. PS, bonus feature request, uh the
- 20:15drone replay camera."
- 20:18>> Uh okay, uh
- 20:20I think uh yeah, uh also some uh
- 20:22somebody asked for that a few questions
- 20:25earlier, I think. Uh noted then
- 20:28regarding the um the the
- 20:30the the drone replay camera.
- 20:32Um
- 20:34regarding the game controller, in one of
- 20:36the previous updates, we have already
- 20:38added the ability to um to to change and
- 20:41modify the filter settings.
- 20:43Um
- 20:44it's a part of what we will do because
- 20:46for version 1.0,
- 20:49which will also be released on consoles,
- 20:52we would like to improve it further to
- 20:53make the car easier to control uh both
- 20:56in terms of steering, but also in terms
- 20:58of throttle and brake management. Of
- 21:01course, um
- 21:03throttle um Um, it's it's key to fast
- 21:07driving in any race car, but
- 21:10uh in rally it's even more important in
- 21:13a way because you keep transferring your
- 21:15weight from side to side and from front
- 21:18to rear. And with the game controller
- 21:21sometimes it's more difficult to be
- 21:24precise with that. So, we we'd like to
- 21:26add more um
- 21:29more uh you know, assistance to the
- 21:32triggers and to to the game controller
- 21:35as well. So,
- 21:37uh also
- 21:38uh I personally use a controller from
- 21:40time to time as well. We don't consider
- 21:44the work to be finished on the game
- 21:47controller support and the usability of
- 21:49controllers is very very important to us
- 21:51even if we
- 21:53uh even if ACR is was born as as a
- 21:56simulator, we all like to just enjoy a
- 21:59beautiful rally game. So, we will we
- 22:02will improve it further definitely in
- 22:05Italy and it's one of our
- 22:07hot topics in the team.
- 22:12>> The next question comes from Goski,
- 22:14which asks, is there a chance to add
- 22:16some kind of testing track like in
- 22:19a competitor title? Um, it would be good
- 22:22to have a playground to understand car
- 22:23behavior and set up somewhere other than
- 22:25the rally stage. Uh great game and keep
- 22:27up the good job. Thumbs up emoji.
- 22:31>> Okay, I think well to know what they are
- 22:33referring to. Uh well, I'd love to.
- 22:36Honestly, I'd love to.
- 22:38Uh there are places that would be
- 22:40extremely suitable for something like
- 22:42this.
- 22:43Uh for example, I've been um roaming
- 22:46around Wales for some field research for
- 22:50the rally Wales that we've got in game
- 22:52that I also attended the Phil Price
- 22:54Rally School there.
- 22:55Um I know that [clears throat] there is
- 22:57the Sweet Lamb Motorsport Complex which
- 22:59is used by rally drivers for training
- 23:01that would be perfect, I guess. Or
- 23:05alternatively, we could create large
- 23:07open areas with some maybe custom-made
- 23:10props designed for testing cars or
- 23:13whatever. So,
- 23:15this is something that not just me,
- 23:18many of the designers would love to do
- 23:21to to have a safer area where to try
- 23:26maneuvers, learn things, etc. etc.
- 23:29At the moment, we are focused on
- 23:31developing new rally special stages
- 23:33because because this is what players
- 23:35want.
- 23:36And it takes
- 23:38a lot of time. So, if this
- 23:40testing area stuff happens, it will be
- 23:43sometime in the future, I think, after
- 23:46version 0.1.
- 23:51>> Next question comes from Schizophrenia
- 23:53Gaming Lobster Emo
- 23:55asks, "Can we get a Steam achievements
- 23:57and playing cards?"
- 24:01>> I wonder if the lobster with a
- 24:03schizophrenia is a reference to a famous
- 24:06movie, but uh
- 24:07um well, hopefully in the future. Uh
- 24:10yeah, I know that there are a lot of
- 24:11nice touches that we we are still to add
- 24:15to the game and um
- 24:17platform support, etc. etc. So, I think
- 24:20that it if in the future it will come,
- 24:22but you will have to wait uh
- 24:25to to keep waiting. Sorry for that.
- 24:29>> Um okay. Okay, next question. Uh we're
- 24:32starting to get to some
- 24:33quick fire questions here. Uh next one
- 24:35comes from Andor, who asks, "Can you add
- 24:38a mouse steering option?"
- 24:41>> Uh
- 24:42okay, noted. Uh at the moment, we are
- 24:45not focusing on features like like this
- 24:48one, but I think that uh it would not be
- 24:53uh impossible for us to do that. So,
- 24:56noted.
- 24:58>> Now, I have the most controversial
- 24:59question of all of them.
- 25:01Comes from Fu Ami, who asks, "Who is the
- 25:04fastest in the office?"
- 25:09>> [laughter]
- 25:10>> Well,
- 25:11I'd love to say it's me,
- 25:13but it isn't true.
- 25:15I am probably I am probably the most
- 25:17consist consistent. I make very few
- 25:21errors, but I'm not the fastest one. I
- 25:24think that the the strongest
- 25:26driver of all is probably Matt York.
- 25:29>> Yeah, I was going to say.
- 25:30>> With a senior game Yeah, he's a senior
- 25:32games game designer. And he also got a
- 25:35YouTube channel that is called the
- 25:37Yorkie 065. So, follow him.
- 25:41He's very very fast, very talented.
- 25:44He's a pure sim racer. And we we have
- 25:47also got a collaboration with the Johan
- 25:49Wikstrom. He's one of the fastest
- 25:51e-sports drivers in the world. He is
- 25:53also a rally driver in real life.
- 25:55Then we have our own which is
- 25:58Giuseppe Bagnale. He's our
- 26:01physics designer and handling a guy, and
- 26:05I totally [clears throat] love him, and
- 26:07he's also a driving instructor in real
- 26:09life. He competes in 24 hours
- 26:12in kart
- 26:14races.
- 26:16Can you imagine 24 hours on a kart? He
- 26:19He's driving every weekend, and it's
- 26:21it's
- 26:22He's very very He can drive fast very
- 26:26calmly, but still Martin and Johan are
- 26:29like impossible to beat.
- 26:31>> Yeah, well, Johan is an actual e-sports
- 26:33driver, so he's he's kind of cheating a
- 26:35little bit there. But uh
- 26:36>> [laughter]
- 26:37>> But as far as devs go, Martin's the
- 26:39same.
- 26:40>> And not because I'm here with you, but
- 26:43let me say that you are pretty fast. You
- 26:45are very very fast. And this is
- 26:46something that I feel it's very it's
- 26:49very nice, since you also manage the
- 26:51community and all [clears throat] social
- 26:52media, it's very very nice to have
- 26:53somebody that that knows the deal, that
- 26:56know know what they're doing.
- 26:58>> I'm very fast into trees. I can tell you
- 27:00that now.
- 27:02>> No, everybody is fast into trees.
- 27:05>> [laughter]
- 27:05>> It's a particular talent I've been
- 27:06working on.
- 27:07Um we've got two final questions. The um
- 27:10first one comes from Simon Vinelli, who
- 27:13asks, "This has been asked before, but
- 27:14when can we expect expect native VR
- 27:17support? Will it include quad view
- 27:19support?"
- 27:22>> So, when we are aiming to release the
- 27:25feature in 2026,
- 27:28I think
- 27:30uh end of the year. Because as I was
- 27:33saying I think in a previous Q&A
- 27:36um we are focusing on steps, building
- 27:40the game blocks by block.
- 27:42So, game modes and the first phase of
- 27:45the online has rolled out in in the
- 27:48previous uh
- 27:50uh in the previous uh
- 27:52it
- 27:52sounds like ages, but probably it was
- 27:54just uh uh 15 days ago. So, now that
- 27:58many blocks are coming um
- 28:02coming around nicely, we have uh say
- 28:07we are accelerating
- 28:08the work on the VR.
- 28:11Um I don't [clears throat] remember your
- 28:13initial question. Did I answer
- 28:14everything?
- 28:15>> Just when can we expect it and uh will
- 28:18it include quad view support? I've
- 28:20actually never heard of quad view
- 28:21support. I don't know what that is.
- 28:23>> Uh I Okay, I know it's uh a technology
- 28:28that is used in um
- 28:30>> [clears throat]
- 28:30>> in a race seems, so it
- 28:33uh it renders, I think, the the the
- 28:37the visuals in a certain way that
- 28:39improves
- 28:41the FPS, uh if I remember correctly.
- 28:44I can confirm the quad view support at
- 28:47the moment because the work on the VR is
- 28:49still in progress, but
- 28:52stay sure that every time we tackle
- 28:56a feature, we do an extensive research
- 28:59on what's currently
- 29:01the situ- let's let's say the the state
- 29:04of the art in the market, in the
- 29:06technology part
- 29:08part of the of the world, etc. So, I can
- 29:10confirm right now, but we want
- 29:13to do things
- 29:14in the
- 29:16in the right direction even if maybe as
- 29:19we are doing with with other stuff, it
- 29:21may be modular and built uh step by
- 29:24step.
- 29:26>> Very much a watch this space kind of
- 29:28thing.
- 29:29Okay.
- 29:30>> Exactly.
- 29:31>> Final question comes from Bloomenade who
- 29:33asks, "Hey team, what are the plans for
- 29:36the hood {slash} UI customization? I'd
- 29:39appreciate being able to turn off
- 29:40individual elements so that I can narrow
- 29:42down my hood to just the pace notes and
- 29:44instrument cluster. Game fun, big love,
- 29:47love heart."
- 29:50>> Yeah, it is planned.
- 29:53Unfortunately, at the moment it's not a
- 29:55priority even if I have to admit that
- 29:58especially the lead designer is very vo-
- 29:59very vocal on this because he's prepared
- 30:01the game design of how this which works,
- 30:03etc.
- 30:05Like months ago and
- 30:08and he also would like to have to
- 30:10already have a customizable HUD, but
- 30:15yeah, unfortunately, when I assign the
- 30:17priorities on the game
- 30:19we we have also [snorts] always have to
- 30:22choose carefully between multiple stuff.
- 30:24So, we're not working at it at the
- 30:26moment, but
- 30:29it will be possible in the future,
- 30:31absolutely. And well, and also thank you
- 30:34for the kind words.
- 30:35We always appreciate positive feedback
- 30:38and we always use negative feedback
- 30:44to to try to improve the game as I was
- 30:46saying at the beginning with Nils
- 30:47feedback that now I wonder if he in a
- 30:50way
- 30:50maybe it's not listening now but if he
- 30:52will be listening in a few a recorded
- 30:55version of the session
- 30:57hi Nils. [clears throat]
- 30:59Hope to see you soon.
- 31:01>> I'm sure I can we can I'm sure one of
- 31:02the guys in the community will fire him
- 31:03a message to let him know that he's been
- 31:05featured.
- 31:06>> Probably from I mean it's I think that
- 31:09Nils um
- 31:10because we're talking about him but not
- 31:12just him of course are very positive
- 31:15people for the gaming industry. I mean
- 31:17having a developer and having him
- 31:19especially
- 31:21with everything he does for for the Sim
- 31:23racing
- 31:25industry
- 31:27taking [clears throat] its time his time
- 31:29to to do videos to try the games to
- 31:33to provide feedback.
- 31:35I mean I'm a Sim racer since the 90s
- 31:39okay.
- 31:40And what made this space special is that
- 31:44there were just a lot of people
- 31:46gathering together to have fun to
- 31:48compete to to try to win races
- 31:52and to me I'm a little bit maybe
- 31:54sometimes a nostalgic [clears throat]
- 31:56because I experienced the not maybe the
- 31:58first day of course but
- 32:00I I'm Sim racing I've been Sim racing my
- 32:03whole life so I still think that
- 32:06creating a positive environment where
- 32:08everybody can say
- 32:10what they think in a respectful way and
- 32:13help everybody improve their game. I
- 32:15mean if we've got more
- 32:17nice games
- 32:19nice racing games it's better than
- 32:20having a few I think.
- 32:23So
- 32:24yeah thank you Nils and and to to to all
- 32:26the people that in a way
- 32:28positive or negative feedback takes time
- 32:31to play our game because uh
- 32:33games are there if we all play them.
- 32:36So this is the most important thing at
- 32:38the very end.
- 32:40>> I see a lot of people in the chat
- 32:43are begging for a spoiler for the next
- 32:45update. I don't want to put that on to
- 32:47you, Irvin.
- 32:48If you have one, feel free to share it.
- 32:50If you don't, then say nothing and I
- 32:52will continue.
- 32:53>> Okay. Okay. No. No. No. No.
- 32:55I see. I see. And then this is correct
- 32:57to
- 32:58to thank people that are here today.
- 33:00Well, unfortunately, I will be very
- 33:03clear about this. Until we uh
- 33:06until we
- 33:07have an official approval from the
- 33:10manufacturer, I'm not allowed to say
- 33:13what cars will come. So, I'm sorry for
- 33:15that and this is why I will not say it
- 33:17clearly.
- 33:18Um
- 33:20but
- 33:21we are aiming to bring you three new
- 33:25cars.
- 33:26Hopefully, it will be possible to do so.
- 33:29And if we get all the approvals, that is
- 33:32not uh
- 33:33uh automatic. Um
- 33:37that would be another French car and two
- 33:40German cars.
- 33:43I would like to say more and I'm very
- 33:45very sorry I can't just say everything
- 33:48because I would.
- 33:49But
- 33:51uh and they are all four-wheel drive
- 33:53cars.
- 33:55Spanning [snorts] through a few decades.
- 34:00>> Uh I will not tease for any more because
- 34:03I think you maybe already said necessary
- 34:06should have done. But
- 34:07um
- 34:08>> [laughter]
- 34:08>> first of all, I want to thank you,
- 34:09Irvin, for taking the time to sit down
- 34:11with me and go through this Q&A. I know
- 34:13that community and especially from my
- 34:14side of things, I really really
- 34:16appreciate it. So, a massive thank you
- 34:18to you, Irvin.
- 34:20And uh a massive thank you to all you
- 34:22guys in the chat that have have come to
- 34:23watch by and anybody who watches this on
- 34:25YouTube. Thank you. Keep submitting your
- 34:27questions. We'll look to do another one
- 34:29of these uh following the next major
- 34:30update.
- 34:32Uh we'll see you guys uh very soon.
- 34:34That's it.
- 34:36>> Thank you.
