0:00As you guys know, I like to poke fandoms
0:01with sticks. But believe it or not,
0:03Guilty Gear is actually something that
0:05I'm not unfamiliar with. I've actually
0:07played Exard and a bit of Revelator. I
0:10found to be an incredibly good time
0:11because I have friends that are huge
0:13Guilty Gear fans that highly recommended
0:15it to me for the animation and character
0:17design alone. So, I figured I would
0:19finally have a look at Guilty Gear
0:21Strive cuz I haven't played the game. I
0:23haven't had time at all. And so, I'm not
0:25super familiar with any changes they
0:27might have made to the cast for Guilty
0:28Gear Strive. So, for me, while I know
0:31most of like the key character design
0:33things they do for the Guilty Gear cast,
0:35I haven't seen any changes in detail.
0:37So, what we're going to do today is
0:38we're going to go through the initial
0:40roster, which is about 15 characters or
0:43so, I believe. We also have the old
0:45designs up so we can compare cuz the art
0:47style has changed quite a bit over the
0:49years. And if you guys like this video
0:50and you, you know, you show it a lot of
0:52love, lots of uh likes and all that
0:54jazz, then we can probably jump into DLC
0:57cuz I do love Guilty Gear. I think that
0:58the character designs in Guilty Gear are
1:00great is what got me interested in
1:01fighting games in the first place. So
1:03yeah, I want to just go through Strive,
1:05have a good time, and just uh yeah,
1:08heaven or hell, let's rock MY
1:10>> SMELL OF THE GAME. [music]
1:15>> OKAY, so we start with
1:17>> soul bad guy.
1:20>> This man is a scientist.
1:23Frederick, yes. this [ __ ] brick [ __ ]
1:26house of a man, no science and very very
1:28well. But the most fun thing about Soul
1:31now so many years later is just how much
1:34muscle he's put on. Like my man used to
1:37be a Twinkie. My man was like he was
1:40obviously lean and like muscular,
1:42whatever. Like he dressed like such a
1:44[ __ ] but I think that like he's
1:45[ __ ] now. Things that never change,
1:48insane hair, big sword, respectable man
1:51boobies. That hasn't changed. But what
1:53has changed is the shape language of the
1:56character. Whereas before he had a very
1:59balanced body type, now baby boy has an
2:02insane Dorito body, a perfect hourglass
2:04figure as a dude, and [ __ ] pecs that
2:06can rival the gods. You can bounce a
2:08quarter off those. And the zipper is
2:10hanging on for dear life. The reason the
2:12zipper is down there, chat, is cuz it
2:13can't go all the way up. It would burst
2:15and hit [ __ ] sin in the forehead and
2:17then everybody would die and Dizzy would
2:19kill him. But Saul's design for Strive,
2:21I actually love because I think that
2:23like they've gotten the key elements
2:25that he has, which is red, black, and
2:27white color scheme, his free belt, his
2:29bandana, and they've actually modernized
2:31it a fair bit. His original design was
2:34very much RPG protagonist. Nonsensical
2:37top, but looked really cool. A [ __ ]
2:39belt, his like pants, his like little
2:41[ __ ] loin claws thing. So, it was a
2:42very cool design. [music] I'm pretty
2:44sure this one's from like the '90s or
2:45early 2000s. It reflected the era, you
2:47know. Nowadays, Soul has a way more
2:49modern look to him. The [ __ ] cropped
2:51jacket, [ __ ] tank top, a bajillion
2:54belt still. He has like his loin cloth
2:57thing, but it's much shorter, so his
2:58legs have more of a chance to shine.
3:00There's more detail and patterning on
3:02his pants in general. His sword has a
3:04lot more color now. It used to not be as
3:07red all the way down. And it's in
3:09general just such a fun silhouette. His
3:12dick cloak, he needs it. Okay, he's
3:13hanging a 12 incher. And the shoes just
3:15look so much cooler. I think that like
3:17Soul has always been one of those
3:19characters that he oozes RZ and he looks
3:22like bad guy. Not bad guy actually. One
3:23of the nicest [ __ ] people. He's just
3:25not having it with [ __ ] [ __ ]
3:27Okay, he's done. Frederick is done. He's
3:29not doing it anymore.
3:31>> Go find a book to teach you some damn
3:33manners.
3:33>> I am in particularly obsessed how
3:35they've managed to preserve his color
3:37scheme while still making some
3:39significant silhouette changes. Like he
3:41didn't have a jacket before. There were
3:43a lot less gold accents before. They've
3:45actually brightened those up cuz they
3:46used to be bronze in like the older
3:48design. And we also have gone to like
3:50the Disgaya school of character design
3:52and we've gone bigger and better, pun
3:54intended. So his shoulders are huge, his
3:57jacket is huge, his cuffs are gigantic.
3:59Look at like the size of his feet and
4:01his legs. That like makes him super
4:02bottom heavy. The composition for Soul
4:04is phenomenal. And the coolest thing
4:06about Arc System Works is that the art
4:08style you see here on screen chat,
4:11that's how they move. They literally
4:12look like this in motion, which I think
4:15is the thing that impressed me the most
4:16when I first saw this game. The
4:17animation, the 3D work is immaculate.
4:19And I think that like for your John
4:21Guilty Gear, which is Soul, it's a very
4:24striking design. So yeah, I love the new
4:27design. I love how much of a [ __ ] he
4:29looks like [ __ ] scientist mama. And I
4:32just in general like how well they've
4:34preserved his silhouette while very much
4:35modernizing his look. And fun fact, if
4:38you guys want to like see the story for
4:40Guilty Gear at any point besides the
4:42Woolly video, Exard and Revelator, their
4:44story modes have no gameplay. You can
4:46just watch them. It's a movie. Also, I
4:47was considering doing intros, outros,
4:49and ultimates, but like we would not
4:50have enough time to talk about a lot of
4:51characters we did. So, that might be
4:53another video because I do love seeing
4:54these [ __ ] in motion.
4:56>> Frederick is also a Freddy Mercury
4:58reference.
4:58>> Yes, he is. Most of the characters have
5:00some musical reference on them. They
5:01still have bigger tits than Jacko. Yes.
5:03Yes, he does. Kai.
5:06>> Now Kai actually had quite the redesign
5:09for Strive. Kai used to basically be
5:12JRPG hero protagonist. He was like
5:15nightcoded. He's a king baby boy. And
5:17while his color scheme has stayed very
5:20much the same, white, blue, and black,
5:22it's actually become inverted somewhat.
5:25His original design was very much
5:27implied to be like the hero, the knight,
5:30like the very kingly justice type of
5:32character, right? and he has like his
5:33hope belt that kind of like matches
5:35Frederick's free but I don't think he
5:37has it anymore. So Kai is one of the
5:39designs for Strive which I'm NOT
5:41ENTIRELY SOLD ON. I'm sorry if you're a
5:44Kai man because he went from looking
5:46like a king to just looking like a
5:50fairly normal person. While I do like
5:52Kai's vibe and I do like his story,
5:54although I wanted to hit him over the
5:55head with a stick several times and I do
5:58feel like while it is a cool design, I
6:01love the open shirt. I love the belts. I
6:03love the crosses on his pants. We
6:05completely lost the nightly aesthetic. I
6:07don't know if it's meant to show that
6:08he's like more laid-back now and less
6:10worried or what, but to me, it's just
6:12not as punchy as it used to be. I
6:15definitely think that the old design had
6:16a lot more riz. If you see him in
6:18Revelator or in Xard, you will very much
6:21see that the design has a lot of punch.
6:24He's buffer. Yeah, the Dorito body is
6:27more pronounced. I love the shoulders
6:29and his color scheme, while inverted,
6:30still very, very pretty. But we did lose
6:32that night flare. What I do like about
6:34it though is I do like his coat as his
6:36cape. I do love the blue gloves. I think
6:39it's like very much nice touch. I do
6:40like the crosses on his pants. I like
6:43that we kept the sword as is. I like the
6:45open up shirt and like the more
6:46laid-back style, but it is missing some
6:48juice for a fighting game character. I
6:50do think that Kai requires a little bit
6:52more oomph. So hopefully at some point
6:54they redesign him again and give him
6:56back his nightly aesthetic. Yeah, he's
6:58very very casual now. And I guess that's
7:00like part of what they wanted to do with
7:02his story and whatever, but I do think
7:03that you can be casual and still keep a
7:05very regal aesthetic. But yeah, for Kai,
7:07like good design, solid, covers the
7:10basics of what like his character is,
7:11but it's missing the soul that made Kai
7:14Kis like Kaiisk. I think
7:16>> those fi gloves that have fingernails.
7:19>> Ew, I never noticed that. Ew.
7:22Why? That's so weird. Oh no, I changed
7:25my mind. This design is [ __ ] Why do
7:26they have nails? Ew. This next character
7:30is very near and dear to my heart. It's
7:31actually my favorite [ __ ] character
7:32in the stupid roster. And I am obsessed.
7:36And I don't give a [ __ ] what anybody
7:37says when you see them. I don't care
7:40where they're supposed to be placed or
7:41not. I don't give a [ __ ] mama. She is
7:43my favorite. She's an absolute [ __ ]
7:45queen and she deserves to be in this
7:47video. I am not waiting until we [ __ ]
7:49hit DLZ for my [ __ ] baby girl,
7:52>> Queen Dizzy.
7:57I am making one exception for Dizzy
8:00because I cannot live without this
8:01woman. This [ __ ] giga mil. Omega mil.
8:05Queen in her absolute right. Like but
8:07you said you weren't going to do this. I
8:08don't give a [ __ ] Mama. I make the
8:10rules here. Peasant. Queen Dizzy now.
8:12[ __ ] mommy. Mommy.
8:15[bell] I have actually drawn Dizzy a
8:17fair few times, but I've never given her
8:18a comic. I think she still deserves one.
8:19So Dizzy, I'm actually very pleased with
8:21her redesign. Dizzy has always
8:23traditionally had a pretty skimpy
8:25outfit, believe it or not. Very magical
8:27girl vibes in terms of how she used to
8:29get into it. Dizzy is a gear if in case
8:31it's not obvious that she's not human.
8:33And Dizzy's original outfit was very
8:35much um fighting game coded. Okay, let's
8:39leave it at that. A lot of people were
8:41actually super confused about the outfit
8:44because they were like, "Wait, isn't she
8:46pretty young? Mama, don't don't don't.
8:48It's a fictional [ __ ] type of
8:50creature, not human. It's fine." The
8:51cool thing about Disney's design though
8:53is that it's always had like the life
8:55and death wings things. She's always had
8:58like really big pigtails, a lot of black
9:00to her design, black and white and blue.
9:02It's fairly well balanced for how
9:05complex it is [music] and it animates so
9:07well. So for Strive, I think that they
9:10actually put a lot more cohesion into
9:12this design, believe it or not. The life
9:14and death type of vibes that she had,
9:16now they have very similar color
9:17schemes. The teal is on the bottom. She
9:20still has a giant tail. that Dumpy. And
9:22we got rid of the big twin tales because
9:25Dizzy has actually gone from being Kai's
9:28wife, by the way. They're married, but
9:30was kind of like hiding her from shame
9:32to now being openly accepted as the
9:34queen of the people. So, she's had an
9:37upgrade quite a bit in terms of look.
9:38She looks way more mature now. She
9:40dresses more modestly. I find this
9:41outfit hotter for some reason. I'm
9:43sorry. Like, the milin Joyer in me is
9:46like, "Oh, mama, give me that like
9:47[ __ ] like beautifully modest dress
9:49with the slit up the side." the blue
9:51lining, the very much Asian influence,
9:54the flowers everywhere, the giant milk
9:56braid, flowers all over it. She's being
9:59framed by her wings, which are
10:01absolutely gorgeous. She looks amazing.
10:02She's always looked really fun, but I
10:04think that like the Strive design is
10:06tippy top for me in every sense of the
10:09word. Like, from the composition, the
10:12color scheme, the elements of the
10:14character that have been preserved and
10:16upgraded. I do think that like maybe Kai
10:18needed a downgrade so his wife could
10:20[ __ ] glow up because she deserves
10:22this. I also really like that we've
10:24preserved her color scheme for the most
10:25part. We've just organized it better. So
10:27now she still has yellow accents uh on
10:29top and on the tail and then it's not as
10:33like hard black and white and then the
10:35wings had different shades. It's more
10:37like they have accents in their halos
10:39and that's about it. And there's like
10:41teal on the bottom. There's blue lining
10:42in the skirt which ties together the
10:44blue in her hair. very cohesive, very
10:46pretty. It also ties her to Kai's color
10:48scheme a significant amount because he
10:50has a lot of blue and white in there as
10:51well. She is stunning. Gorgeous,
10:53gorgeous mil, gorgeous woman, but I do
10:56like the strive design so much. I've
10:57actually seen the concept art for this.
10:59It's fairly involved. Uh she had a lot
11:01of work to do. I think that this is the
11:02best that Dizzy has ever looked.
11:04Genuinely love the upgrade. Love how
11:06regal she looks. I'm really sad that
11:08she's DLC. I was expecting her to be in
11:10the base roster, but nope. which is why
11:12she's the only exception I'm making cuz
11:14she's genuinely the one person that I
11:16was like, "Why are you not in here,
11:17mama? Your husband is in here. Why are
11:18you not in here?"
11:19>> In a roster of nukes, Dizzy is a
11:22hydrogen bomb.
11:23>> Yeah, Dizzy is one of those units that
11:25like the like theoretically speaking in
11:27lore, she would annihilate everybody.
11:29Dizzy has the funniest out of anybody in
11:31Guilty Gear. And if we do a video with
11:33the alts and animations, I'll show you.
11:42May.
11:43>> Okay, I love May. May has had such a
11:45like cute design now. She's still very
11:47nautical, but I did notice that in
11:49Strive a lot of the designs are a lot
11:51more modern and way less RPG than what
11:54they used to be. Chad, get it out of
11:56your system. Spam toki, go. Dude, the
11:59fact that she can attack you with a
12:00dolphin is never not going to be funny.
12:02So May is cool because while she still
12:04has a lot of the stuff from her OG
12:07designs like the nautical elements, the
12:10skull and crossbones, very orange color
12:13scheme, the sailor stripes, she looks
12:15way more chill now than what she used
12:19to.
12:22>> At the same time, the design has enough
12:24riz and enough like bombasticness to
12:27still very much fit in the fighting
12:28game. Unlike Kai, I think that like the
12:31thing they did great with May is they
12:33kept the gigantic [ __ ] anchor. The
12:35giant anchor and the really big hat and
12:37really really big hoodie. Just make this
12:39design go from like could just be a
12:41normal girl hanging out after like going
12:42to the gym to ah yes, pirate thing
12:45that's going to hit me over the head
12:46with a giant anchor and kill me. You
12:48play with the bombastic. You play with
12:51the composition, with the shapes, with
12:53the silhouette, and her silhouette is
12:55very much like ready for action nautical
12:58as [ __ ] Guilty Gear has weird weapons.
12:59Guilty Gear has always had like very
13:01unconventional things when it comes to
13:03the fighters. And with May, I like this
13:04a lot because it gives her like such a
13:07chill cutesy vibe while still very much
13:09preserving the nautical elements that
13:11I've usually known the character for.
13:13You guys know that like orange is not my
13:14color, but May wears it really well. I
13:17love how bright it is. And then like has
13:19like the big hat that's not quite a
13:20pirate hat anymore, but it could be. The
13:22white and orange stripes on the sleeves
13:25and hem of the jacket, the big
13:27stitching, the cute like belts that she
13:30wears on the back, the bicycle shorts.
13:32Yeah. The big sneakers, the black gloves
13:35that fit with the shorts as well. Like
13:36great use of accents, great use of
13:38color. The entire design is just short
13:40girly pop with big weapon is always a
13:42vibe. And Guilty Gear does a lot of
13:44that. I also really like what they've
13:46done with her hair. It's shorter. It's
13:47more cutesy. It's fluffier. She actually
13:49looks her age and strive. She's like in
13:51her 20s. Like the best way to deal with
13:53ages and strive is just don't. Another
13:55thing I like is that I like that they
13:56made her legs relatively thicky. Like
13:58she looks plumpy and like very pleasant
14:00to the eye. The baggy hoodie is
14:02definitely a vibe though. It gives her a
14:03nice silhouette though. It kind of like
14:04gives her like a triangular silhouette,
14:06a little bit more bottom heavy if that
14:08makes sense. So it makes sense why her
14:09legs were very thick. I'm very taken
14:11with the Kingdom Heart style shoes.
14:12Again, disguise as school of design. You
14:14make big, bombastic, ridiculous elements
14:16and you build the design around that. I
14:18think that that's always been a very fun
14:20way to do things. Start big. You can
14:22always shrink stuff down later. Start
14:23big.

14:28reference.com.org. So, Axel is weird. He
14:32might not look it, but if I recall
14:33correctly, time traveler, right? British
14:35as [ __ ] as you can tell, obviously by
14:37the giant Union Jack he's wearing in the
14:39old design. And then like the not super
14:42subtle at all [ __ ] Union Jack he's
14:44wearing on his belt. The stripe design
14:47though, may I say, I love. He's always
14:50been like lowkey a little bit [ __ ]
14:52but it was missing that oomph with the
14:54silhouette that I definitely think that
14:56the Strive one has. The Strive design.
14:59Why do you have three zippers? Actually,
15:01Axel, I'm so confused. It's like
15:03sometimes jackets have two zippers. I
15:06guess that this one has three.
15:08Thankfully, they're not that distracting
15:10elements. Uh, so I wouldn't say that
15:12they break silhouette, but it's
15:14definitely one of those things that
15:14makes you go, "What the fuck?" But I
15:16definitely love this more modern take on
15:18his outfit. He's a little bit less
15:20rocker than what he used to be, but I do
15:22very much like the vibe. I love the
15:24plaid jacket. I really, really, really
15:26like his bandana. I think the X is such
15:29a nice touch. Love the Union and Jack
15:31belt. I like that the pants are I think,
15:33correct me if I'm wrong, didn't he used
15:34to have like skinny, [music] skinny
15:35jeans at one point? I feel like this
15:38silhouette is nicer for him and for his
15:40dick because like otherwise it was
15:42getting smothered. Mama Eno needs that
15:44[ __ ] to survive. So like kindly do not
15:46smother it. Thank you. Yes, I do ship it
15:49with Eno.

16:13design. I really like it quite a bit. I
16:15also like that we've added some accent
16:17color to the weapon. Like it was red
16:18before, but I like that we've made it
16:21almost pink. Cuz believe it or not, that
16:23shade of reddish pink, that cherry red,
16:24guess who has that in her design. So, I
16:27like these like little hints. I'm so
16:28convinced that the writer for Guilty is
16:30like a disgusting chipper because
16:31there's a lot of relationships in this
16:32[ __ ] game. Okay, I'm I'm obsessed
16:33with it. Love the gloves. I like how we
16:36tied like the tan brown shades together
16:38and we made the shade of black not super
16:40aggressive and warm toned so the brown
16:42doesn't look that weird against it.
16:43Boots are fairly cool. I love his weird
16:46crop top even though my brother in
16:47Christ. Three zippers and a belt. Why?
16:49But like he still, you know, he has a
16:50good time. Axel just looks so pretty. He
16:53still very much like embodies that like
16:55punk rock aesthetic that he's always
16:56kind of had, but now it's just a lot
16:58more polished. And he still looks
17:01aggressively
17:02>> British.
17:04Also, the chibi looks insanely smug, but
17:06I will say that his actual normal
17:07artwork looks super smug, too. Like, why
17:09are you like this? There's three zippers
17:11on the chibi.
17:12>> There's a comment on the Overwatch vid
17:14complimenting me for using Axel's theme
17:16for Tracer since they both are
17:18characters who are displaced in time.
17:20>> Yeah, they're time travelers.
17:21I only used his theme because he's
17:23British.

17:28[ __ ] be an amazing gamer, may I

17:34cherry, they got apple, they got
17:36lemonade. [ __ ] the most acidic pick
17:38you could [ __ ] imagine. They have
17:39lean. Anything you want, Gops has it.
17:41Great clean energy, awesome caffeine.
17:43And if caffeine is ooky spooky, they
17:45have caffeine-free versions of
17:46everything. They also have gamer aid if
17:49you guys want to like take that [ __ ] to
17:50the gym. is similar to Gatorade, but
17:52much better cuz it has creatine for
17:53focus. And if you are actually a sleep
17:55fiend, [music]
17:56if you wake up at night, you can try AFK
17:58as well with melatonin and melatonin
18:00free versions. They also have like the
18:01waifu cups, soup for some reason,
18:03t-shirts, any apparel you want. They do
18:05drops all the time, like every like
18:07other week they do a drop for something,
18:09whether it be creator or a new flavor or
18:11anything you want really. But remember

18:24So, first of all, stripe design, baller,
18:26stellar, beautiful. I forgot what Chip
18:29Steel was completely. I'm sorry, but I
18:32will say this minor nitpick. Everything
18:33about him is so beefy that his head
18:35looks super tiny. Okay. Yeah. So, like
18:36Chip used to be more lean in body type
18:39and now he's like completely beefed up.
18:41I do think this is the case where the
18:42lean body type suits him a lot more than
18:45whatever the [ __ ] he's rocking now. But,
18:47can we talk about how good the outfit
18:48design is though? The poofy ninja pants
18:50with like all the buttons, the amazing
18:52shoes, the red sash, the big rope belt,
18:55the [ __ ] sideb top with like the
18:59zipper, great armbands, amazing use of
19:01accents. It's a super [ __ ] baller
19:04design, chat, but he's a little bit too
19:06buff. His head looks tiny. Like the OG
19:08design, I think it's less ninja, but
19:10like also a good body type for ninja,
19:12you know? In the chibi, he looks less
19:13buff. The chibi I love. Let's look at
19:15the size of his [ __ ] torso, chat.
19:18There's no waistline here. Literally,
19:19part one, JoJo bodies. The outfit design
19:22is on point. Just too big. He feels like
19:24comic relief to me though. I think it
19:26was comic relief cuz like I barely saw
19:28him in the story mode. I like those like
19:31open toed ninja shoes with a lot of
19:33belts. It's a very nice modern take on
19:35the fantasy Japan aesthetics. You know,
19:38he is ninja president. All right. Former
19:42Kraken now ninja president of Africa. Do
19:44you have any idea how wild that sounds?
19:47I was like, "President of what? His own
19:49country."

21:31IRONCLAD? I love potmpkin's design. It's
21:34so [ __ ] dope. It's like such a great
21:36example of using like silhouette to the
21:38fullest for a character. Pain in the
21:41ass. Okay, like the bit of Guilty Gear
21:42that I've played, I hated fighting
21:44PMKin, but I love the design and the
21:46strap design is phenomenal. I don't know
21:47if it changed that much from XR/
21:49Revelator, but I do really like how it
21:51looks. Also, like realistically, I know
21:53that there's not a military jacket in
21:54the world that will let your muscles
21:56shine through like this, but like I
21:58still love it though. He's wearing like
22:00either Giga Spandex or we've made
22:02literally like little bags for each of
22:03his muscles. Those buttons are not long
22:06for this [ __ ] planet chat. I also
22:07like that like they hide his face now.
22:09Like I think the mystery helps the
22:11character if that makes sense. It kind
22:12of helps with like the silhouette of
22:13like oh god giant [ __ ] brick [ __ ]
22:16house. So I prefer the modern PMPkin.

22:21actually the first time seeing him
22:22without the helmet. But I like the fact
22:23that it's like the mystery, you know?
22:25Pmpkin is a break your spine unit. But
22:27yeah, great character. Love the military

22:31helmet, big hands, just square shaped.
22:34Everything about him is just so fun. And
22:35he looks great in Strive. So I
22:37appreciate the BM's Genon. Hmpkin likes
22:39to draw, but he needs specially designed
22:42pencils so that they don't get crushed
22:43to sawdust in his gorilla hands

23:32emassiated figure, the glowing red eye
23:35under his paper bag. Like, he's
23:38horrifying. The stitching on the skin,
23:41the like scrubs that are definitely way
23:43too loose on him, but like he can't fit
23:45anything else. big stethoscope, the
23:47[ __ ] blood splatter that just has
23:49good on it, the syringe of dubious red
23:51lip liquids that is hanging in place of
23:53where his [ __ ] [ __ ] would be. Like,
23:55and then to top it all off and make it
23:57even creepier and more realistic, we
23:58gave him their shoes.

24:21This is a case where the Dorito body was
24:23kind of hurting F's intended vibe. So,
24:26they got rid of it and they just made
24:28him so much worse in a good way. He
24:32looks super inhuman. I don't remember
24:33his lore exactly, but he scares the [ __ ]
24:36out of me. Like, he still has like the
24:37giant scapple, but now he has like nurse
24:39shoes.

24:46creepy. Like the hunched nature, the
24:49fact that like he could be staring at

24:59character. Now though,
25:01he needs a sandwich. He needs several
25:03sandwiches. Does he also have like

25:07So now it almost feels like he's put
25:09together with like very long spindly
25:11corpses. Again, correct me if I'm wrong.
25:14I don't think Fost is entirely human.

26:29anything which is pretty impressive. I
26:31can actually do that with mine cuz you
26:32know shape shifter but gloves the like
26:35uses of orange and like the icy blue
26:37eyes, black boots. Mama just [ __ ] I
26:39am too gay for this [ __ ] cuz Melia is
26:42just such a beautiful character. She's a
26:44Russian spy and assassin. Yes, I love
26:46what they did cuz like the design for
26:48Revelator was cute, but I really like
26:49the trench coat dress. I think it's such
26:51a vibe. It's so so so [ __ ] pretty.
26:54Pear-shaped. Oh yeah, mother is
26:56mothering chat. It just like makes her
26:58silhouette a lot neater, if that makes
27:00sense. It's definitely giving Spy, but
27:03we actually balance out the fact that
27:04the hair is a such a big part of it by
27:06giving her other elements with flow,
27:08like the scarf. And the scarf is
27:10actually like warm toned as well, so it
27:11doesn't distract from her hair, which is
27:13important for a character like this.
27:14Wow, her hips are thick. A lot of
27:16characters in Guilty Gear are thick as
27:18[ __ ]

27:24her hair. I feel like the old one is
27:26like very like standard anime blonde.
27:28The buttery like warmer tones and like
27:32more silvery. It's kind of like

27:35much nicer. It suits her skin tone
27:36better. I think strawberry blonde. Yeah.
27:38Yeah. She's strawberry blonde. There's
27:39like there's red hints in there. Very
27:41very like slight ones, but yeah. And
27:42even the chibi is like super [ __ ]
27:44cutesy. Very sensual. Again, the guilty
27:47gear ladies have it [ __ ] any they can
27:49get it whatever they want.

27:52current GG is that it's losing some of
27:54the hard rock, heavy metal '90s art
27:56aesthetic in some places that defined it
27:58for most of its life, and that is
28:00something I noticed people did talk
28:01about. Yes, but I do think that
28:04evolution is important for games like
28:05this. Like, they still have their roots
28:06and the music is definitely still there,
28:08but you can't expect them to stick with
28:10like the same design philosophy forever.

28:37lowkey groping Zad to an actual shadow

28:42They've made him so much creepier, so
28:44much cooler. like the detached eyes and
28:47like weird teeth, gangly fingers, hands
28:50everywhere. Absolutely stunning. Zad's
28:53outfit actually has barely changed and
28:55the amount of time he's been in Guilty
28:57Gear cuz I don't know how long he's been
28:58in here for. He still has like a black
28:59bodysuit now. He has a little bit more
29:02detail on his shoes, I think, and the
29:04blindfold is also slightly more
29:06detailed. But for the most part, if it
29:08ain't broke, don't [ __ ] fix it. The I
29:10think the main change was Eddie, and I
29:12really really like how they did it. He
29:14went from being like an actual 3D
29:16physical object to like actually a
29:17shadow. He's flat. He seems to almost be
29:20consuming shadow in this [ __ ] render.
29:22The chibi looks so smug for like no good
29:24reason. And it's just so beautiful what
29:27they've done with the character without
29:29touching the actual design that much.
29:31Eddie's just become like an integral
29:32part of it while still not stealing the
29:34show. It's very much cohesive. Oh yeah,
29:37I know. That's stunning. That's
29:39beautiful. That's a gorgeous render. I
29:41didn't even notice the opacity on this.
29:43Oh, it's so beautiful. But yeah, Zada
29:45looks gorgeous. Eddie looks amazing. I
29:46love what they did with it. I love like
29:48the [ __ ] flat and like 3D aesthetic.
29:51I wonder how it animates in game.
29:53Genuinely curious to see him in motion
29:55now because that cannot be easy to pull
29:57off. But the render looks spectacular.

30:36tan skin, the light hair. It's much
30:38longer now than what it used to be. I
30:40think the super cute kitty hat, the
30:42puppy, need for borger, salty. She has
30:46some of the most badass weapons in the
30:48game. She's a Valentine, so she's
30:50similar to Dizzy in a way. Like, she
30:51thinks she's a gear. Also, her cloak is
30:53alive, by the way. Shiny fabric. You see
30:55that's flesh. So, the reason why Ram's
30:56design changed so much is that Ram was
30:58originally a villain. So, her original
31:00design was a lot more intense in shape.
31:02It had a lot more triangles. Thea the
31:04silhouette was a little bit more
31:05chaotic. She was very much out to get
31:07everybody. She's had a redemption arc
31:09since and now her design very much
31:11reflects that. It's rounded out. It's
31:13soft. It's approachable. She still has
31:15thunder thighs. That's never going to
31:16change. And I'm so glad. I love her so
31:18much. Her expression might seem more
31:20severe, but in reality, she's a lot more
31:22chill than what she used to be. Her
31:24swords have not changed at all, but the
31:27things that carry them no longer have
31:29like really big off-putting [music]
31:30teeth. They now just like look like
31:32normal little spheres and that's it. So
31:34Ram's design, while not super different
31:36in Strive, definitely shows a change in
31:38personality to what she used to be,
31:40which I love. I love that we still have
31:43green accents, although a little bit
31:45less than before. I love the clover on
31:47the hat. I adore color scheme in
31:49general. They work the magic bandages
31:52that she kind of needs to wear to stay
31:53alive. Side note, very, very well. The
31:55red looks really nice against the lining
31:56of the cape. The swords are still
31:58gigantic, still absolutely insane. And
32:00uh we still have
32:03sniffer
32:05feet. Ram is never putting on a pair of
32:08shoes ever and I love that. She's so
32:12freaky. She likes hamburgers. I ship her
32:14with sin personally. Like I didn't know.
32:16So I don't care. Guilty Gear Lore is so
32:19[ __ ] weird that I don't give a [ __ ]
32:20anymore. Mama, do the characters look
32:22good together? Do they have a good
32:23history? Yes. Okay, good. Give Burger.
32:25But her design is really, really cool in
32:27Strive. I love what they did with it. I
32:29love the change in personality and I do
32:31like that we're using the actual shape
32:33language of the character to kind of
32:34show the redeem without going super into
32:36making her very peppy cuz she's a pretty
32:38emotionless character.

33:09keeping the fur trim on his sleeves and
33:12on his neckline because without that,
33:14the long hair would kind of be necessary
33:16for this character. But like he went
33:19from being commander general type pants
33:21to like stylish explorer daddy. The
33:25giant crosses are such a vibe. Mama, the
33:28beard is everything. Okay. Like those
33:30[ __ ] sideburns connect to his chin.
33:32Give me an experienced man and I will be
33:35a happy [ __ ] Lily. Those are the
33:38hands of a man that knows his way around
33:39his finger bang chat. The trench coat.
33:42The vest. That button is going to go
33:44places. The khaki pants. God, it's such
33:47a dad outfit. And like I love the
33:50grandpa gold tape [ __ ] loafers
33:52energy. His legs were really twiggy in
33:55the older designs. Yeah. So, I like the
33:56grandpa pants. I think that they even
33:58out his silhouette quite a bit in a good
34:00way. The only thing I would like is a
34:02little bit more fantasy to the outfit
34:04because the weapons feel a bit out of
34:06place in this design, but I do not mind
34:08it. We've just gone very casual while
34:11still retaining most of the pizzazz for
34:13the Guilty Gear cast. So, I appreciate
34:15that. Ponpasaur. Is that what it's
34:17called? It's insane. But yeah, Leo's
34:20design. Oh, it's so chef's kiss in both
34:23iterations. The Grandpa Fit makes him
34:25hotter somehow.

35:18Japanese fashion. It's to die for. I
35:22love the [ __ ] katanas. Adore how
35:25[ __ ] big that stupid sword is. The
35:27white is such a nice pop to against his
35:29skin. They picked perfect colors for him
35:32with the brightest being like the
35:33purples and like the lining of his coat
35:35and the like straps that he has. It just
35:37looks so [ __ ] good. I also noticed
35:40that like his sword is like blood red in
35:42the actual in-game sprite. Something
35:44I've also noticed and scribe in general,
35:46most of the highest saturated colors on
35:48the characters tend to be either on the
35:50hands or feet. I wonder if that's to
35:52improve readability because Guilty Gear
35:54has some absolutely insane designs and
35:56really really good ones, but I've never
35:57found their movements hard to follow.
35:59vampire. By the way, I love the vampires
36:02in Guilty Gear. Both of them. Louis, no.
36:05Lily, yes. Mama, give me that [ __ ] I
36:08think that the mask is tying the whole
36:09design together for me. If I could like
36:11have him wearing the mask always, I
36:12would. He's slayers of people. Okay, so
36:14they do know each other. The vibe I'm
36:16getting for him though. Pretty cool dude
36:18in general. I like that we have like the
36:20very traditional like Japanese vibe of
36:21like we're wearing one sleeve but not
36:23the other, but we tied it around his
36:24shoulders and we show where it's tied so
36:26it's not just stapled to his skin. in
36:28chat. I also really like that like the
36:30no shirt underneath uh but kind of like
36:32one robe on, one robe not like very
36:34[ __ ] but in a good way. The pants are
36:36very simple, just like [ __ ] black
36:38pants boot things, which I do like. Very
36:41nice shade of purple on the bottom
36:42there. And the lighting of the coat
36:43being in purple is just such a it's
36:45chef's kiss against that orange uh
36:47bright orange of like his tunic, you
36:49know? It's a great design. It's a really
36:51really fun page. for like new characters
36:52in the series. I love

38:03the 1940s silhouette that she's rocking
38:05outfitwise, but like she's not wearing
38:08it like they would wear it at the time.
38:09Mama, let me tell you, I'm kind of
38:11obsessed. Her shoes are great. I love
38:13the accent color on the bottom. I love
38:15the green accent as well. The green
38:17accent as well on the sleeves is
38:19gorgeous. Look at how [ __ ] fat that
38:21ass is. For perspective, as someone who
38:24draws characters without clothes a lot,
38:26this ass is so [ __ ] fat that you
38:28could lose a hand in there. At least
38:29she's Brazilian. Of course, she has fat
38:30BAGS AND ASS. OH, that explains a lot
38:32about the body type. Actually, I also
38:34really like that they go with like
38:35warmer shades of green in game. The game
38:38sprite is there. Uh, I don't know why
38:40she's hulking the [ __ ] out. I haven't
38:41played Strive yet, so I don't know. But
38:43like amazing work on the character
38:45design for Gio. So beautiful. So
38:46stunning.

39:25The butterfly patterns on the pants,
39:28glasses, super clean color scheme, very
39:30very fun. He went from having like
39:32really pointy kind of silly hair to like
39:33having more like retired salam man hair.
39:35And I'm so into it. This is what would
39:37have happened to the judge in Jujutsu
39:39Kaisen if he hadn't crashed out. I love
39:41a buff nerd. I love me a [ __ ] man
39:44that like you see his face and you're
39:46like, "Ah, yes, an accountant." And then
39:47you see the body AND YOU'RE LIKE,
39:48"WHAT?" LIKE, WHAT? Who says like just
39:50cuz you wear glasses, you can't be buff.

39:56Not all boy with glasses need to be
39:58Twinkies, mama. You can have herbs and
40:00let me lick them. The teeny tiny
40:02glasses, though. The modern fans, I like
40:04the white and red a lot more than black
40:06and gold, but we still have black and
40:08gold on the color scheme cuz the obies
40:09like a shade of gold and like the pants
40:11have a lot of black in them. Literally
40:12Clark can't build dude built like a
40:14brick [ __ ] house. Can we talk about how
40:16great the sleeves add to the readability
40:18for this character down the fan then
40:20down the arm right to the other fan and
40:22all the way down to his feet and that
40:23will let you and then use use the line
40:26on the pants to go all the way back up
40:28with the other sleeve and then boom, tie
40:29it back up his face. It's like a perfect
40:31figure eight composition. Absolutely
40:32gorgeous and it ties it back to the
40:34focal point which is the face. It's
40:36masterful work, absolutely beautiful
40:38illustration. It's one of the hardest
40:39things to learn how to do consciously.
40:41Believe it or not, most artists, if
40:42you've had some experience, you will
40:44have some compositional knowledge just
40:46intuitively. But once you actually
40:48master how to do this [ __ ]
40:50intentionally, all of your illustrations
40:52are going to look great. It's not easy,
40:54mind you. You have to think about it,
40:56but like you will get such good work if
40:58you start thinking about composition a
40:59little bit. Angie and Bacon are
41:01intentional subversions of traditional
41:03gender roles.

41:47traditionally had a very sexy design. If
41:49you look at the old one, mama, that top
41:51was on with double-sided tapes and a
41:53dream. If she jumps wrong, it's like
41:56boom, nipples right in your face. It's a
41:58dangerous [ __ ] top. But now we fixed
42:00this problem by giving her like an
42:02actual bikini top. She is no less sexy
42:04in Strive, mind you. The hat is bigger
42:06and batter seems to be like the design
42:08philosophy for a lot of Strive
42:09characters. The guitar is stunning.
42:11Beautiful instrument. The witchy
42:12aesthetic is a little bit more prevalent
42:14than ever. Super tall boots still there.
42:16I love the silver details on her boots
42:18now. We have a longer skirt on the back,
42:20but still very teenytiny skirt/shorts on
42:22the front there. Big [ __ ] belt with a
42:24giant buckle. Also, I like the addition
42:27of sunglasses because Eno actually has a
42:30really weird eye color. They're kind of
42:31like mine in the sense that they change.
42:33They usually draw her with like teal
42:34eyes. Like they she has like teal and
42:36the chibi, but if you look at her eyes
42:37in game, they're like weirdly
42:38multicolored. So, the sunglasses are a
42:40great touch. I generally love what they
42:42did with her outfit. I saw some people
42:44bitching, mind you, as they always do,
42:46that they felt like this outfit was a
42:47centered version of the old one. She had
42:49a more risque one in Exart and
42:51Revelator. Mama, this is sexier than
42:53ever to me. She's still showing exactly
42:54the same amount of skin. Except her
42:56outfit now is a little bit more
42:57functional. There's no longer a risk of
42:59nipple popping out. And I love the hat.
43:01I love the hair. I love the guitar in
43:04teal. It's such a great color to go
43:05against that shade of red specifically.
43:07She used to have like a more cherry red
43:08vibe that kind of like match Axel a
43:10little bit, but again, the colors are a
43:13little bit more toned down in in Strive.
43:15I do love it though. But Eno is one of
43:16those characters that has a pretty
43:17complicated story. I won't get into it,
43:19but she's actually in the newest game
43:21that Arc System works put out called
43:23Damon and Bab, which is super cute. I
43:24had seen the character before I saw
43:26Guilty Gear, and I was obsessed with
43:27her.

43:34the top off in her round win animation.

43:42though.

43:46the base roster for Guilty Gear Strive.
43:48Now, I actually did really enjoy their
43:50picks. I would have loved to see Jacko
43:51in there because I love her as well as
43:53some other standouts, but I think that
43:54for like the starter cast, not a bad
43:57selection at all. I love the designs for
43:59Guilty Gear. I do genuinely enjoy the
44:02direction that the game has been headed
44:04in. It was always really fun and kind of
44:06like JRPG inspired, but like now things
44:08are a little bit more casual, a little
44:09bit more chill. I do think that like
44:11standout designs for me definitely, Eno,
44:12Ram, Dizzy, my wife. Absolutely. And
44:15Soul always looks [ __ ] phenomenal.
44:17But yeah, Guilty Gear is a really good
44:18time. I highly recommend playing it or
44:20at least watching the story modes and
44:21the lore videos cuz it's [ __ ] insane.
44:2310 out of 10 game, I would say. I can't
44:25actually wait to try Strive out myself
44:26cuz I suck at fighting games, but
44:28they're so fun to play. If you guys like
