Are Leader Cards Undervalued? Top 25 Tier List + Value Picks - One Piece TCG — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hello and welcome to OnePiece of
- 0:02Insight. In today's video, I will be
- 0:04looking at the question of whether
- 0:05leader cards are undervalued relative to
- 0:07SPs and alt arts. I'll also be going
- 0:10through and doing a top 25 tier list of
- 0:12my favorite leaders that you can pull in
- 0:14a box. And if you stay tuned to the end,
- 0:16I'll even be providing a few picks that
- 0:18I think are undervalued at their current
- 0:19price. So with that, let's jump right
- 0:21in. So why are we even asking this
- 0:22question? Well, I've been working on an
- 0:24analysis for a future video where I look
- 0:26at the most popular characters in
- 0:28OnePiece and their impact on card
- 0:30prices. And I noticed something
- 0:31interesting about the leader cards that
- 0:33I was looking at that suggested that
- 0:35they might be undervalued. So I wanted
- 0:36to walk you through that. So first, if
- 0:38we look at the average price of an SP
- 0:40for what I consider to be the top 12
- 0:42characters in OnePiece, the average
- 0:43price was $391.
- 0:46And the average leader price was $155.
- 0:48So now SPs are generally about twice as
- 0:51rare as leader cards. And so that
- 0:53brought us a 2.5x
- 0:55multiplier for SP. So SPs were two and a
- 0:58half times more expensive than the
- 0:59average leader card. That totally tracks
- 1:01with rarity. And you know, given the
- 1:03fact that SPs are typically better art,
- 1:05you know, slightly more popular styles,
- 1:08that made a total sense to me.
- 1:10But what I realized is that if you
- 1:12actually compared apples to apples
- 1:15and you took out the leader cards that
- 1:17were in sets where there were no SPs and
- 1:19just looked at the leader cards that it
- 1:21were printed in sets where there were
- 1:23also SPs, you saw a gigantic difference
- 1:26in price. And so
- 1:28in the sets where there are no SPs, the
- 1:30average leader price was $460
- 1:33because that ends up being one of the
- 1:34biggest chases because there are no SPs
- 1:36to chase. Whereas in the sets that have
- 1:38SPs, the average leader price was only
- 1:40$58, which I thought was really
- 1:42interesting. So if we compare the $58
- 1:46price to the average price of an SP,
- 1:48what does that look like? So now we
- 1:51again have SPs that have a rarity that's
- 1:53about 2x typically
- 1:56what a leader is. It varies from set to
- 1:57set depending on the number. But now we
- 1:59have a price that's 7x.
- 2:02Which
- 2:03I'm not
- 2:04sure is justified. I'm not sure that it
- 2:07isn't justified, but I think it's worth
- 2:08exploring whether or not particularly
- 2:10the leader cards that are in the sets
- 2:13where SPs have been printed are
- 2:15undervalued because they're no longer
- 2:16considered top chases in those sets. To
- 2:19better understand the dynamic here, I
- 2:20also wanted to look at all sorts. So
- 2:22when we look at that, the average price
- 2:23of an alt art is $42
- 2:26for these 12 top characters.
- 2:29Leaders are about 1.4 times more rare
- 2:31than the alt arts, and the price was 1.4
- 2:33times more than the alt art. So that
- 2:36actually seems to be exactly right from
- 2:38what you would expect based on rarity.
- 2:40So what's my takeaway from this? So I
- 2:43think that we as collectors probably put
- 2:46disproportionate value on what is seen
- 2:49as the top chase. Essentially that when
- 2:52cards are worth more money, they become
- 2:55more desirable to us as collectors. And
- 2:58so I do think that some of these leader
- 2:59cards have sort of fallen to the side as
- 3:02like second-tier cards and are no longer
- 3:04commanding a premium.
- 3:06Should that hold or not?
- 3:08I think it's really an open question. I
- 3:10tend to think that some of the leader
- 3:12cards that we're going to talk about are
- 3:13undervalued, whereas other ones I think
- 3:16are more fairly valued. Now obviously
- 3:18another possible explanation here is
- 3:19that SPs are overrated or overpriced. I
- 3:22think there's probably some of that
- 3:23going on, too. So let's jump into the
- 3:25tier list. So for today's tier list,
- 3:26we're going to be doing a top 25
- 3:28ranking. So instead of doing like S
- 3:29tier, A tier, the bars are going to
- 3:32indicate what numbers they fall in from
- 3:331 to 25.
- 3:35Okay, so let's start off with an easy
- 3:36one. The OP01 Luffy leader has to be in
- 3:40the top five leaders of all time that
- 3:42you can pull out of a box. It's OP01.
- 3:45It's one of the most iconic images of
- 3:46Luffy. This one did not require a second
- 3:48thought. Same thing with the Zoro here.
- 3:51I think that we've actually been under
- 3:52rating this Zoro art a little bit. This
- 3:54is such an iconic Zoro grumpy face that
- 3:58I'm kind of surprised that it isn't
- 4:00more. You know, I'm not prepared to call
- 4:02it under valued per se, but I'm a little
- 4:04bit surprised that it doesn't have more
- 4:06hype associated with it. So, we're going
- 4:08to go ahead and also put that one in the
- 4:10top five.
- 4:11Okay, Doflamingo here is a little bit
- 4:13more complicated because, you know, OP01
- 4:16leaders are currently worth a lot. Part
- 4:18of the reason that I think those cards
- 4:19are worth a lot is because there weren't
- 4:21other chases really in the set except
- 4:23for the manga. And so, that raised all
- 4:26of their values even if they're not as
- 4:27popular characters. I do think that
- 4:29Doflamingo is probably the most popular
- 4:31villain of the OP01 leaders. And so, for
- 4:33that reason, uh he deserves some respect
- 4:36there, but I don't like him as much as
- 4:37some other cards. So, I think we're
- 4:38going to put him in the 11 to 15 range.
- 4:41Crocodile is another one where, you
- 4:43know, if you're a long-time fan of One
- 4:45Piece, he's probably not your favorite
- 4:47villain. But what I will say for
- 4:49Crocodile is we know he's going to be a
- 4:51central part of live action season 3
- 4:54when it comes out next year and he
- 4:55already made an appearance in live
- 4:57action season 2. This is a character
- 4:59that I think that if you've been
- 5:00introduced to One Piece primarily
- 5:02through the live action, that you may
- 5:04see as being more prominent than he is
- 5:06if you're introduced to him through the
- 5:08anime or through the manga. And so, for
- 5:10that reason, I like him better than I
- 5:12like a lot of the other um
- 5:14OP01 leaders. So, we're going to put him
- 5:16in the 16 through 20 range.
- 5:19The Law here is interesting. And while I
- 5:22really, really like Law, um I am
- 5:24surprised that he's like only $100
- 5:27cheaper than the Zoro. So, again, I
- 5:30don't know if that means that the Law is
- 5:31overpriced or the Zoro is under priced.
- 5:34I tend to lean more on the side that the
- 5:36Zoro is under priced. Um but I do think
- 5:38that this is a a really cool card. One
- 5:40of the things that's interesting about
- 5:42these leader cards is that how playable
- 5:44the leaders were do seem to have some
- 5:46effect uh on the value of the cards even
- 5:49when people aren't necessarily playing
- 5:51them anymore. Like this law card was
- 5:53very playable for a time. The Zoro was
- 5:55also playable for a time. And so for all
- 5:58of those reasons, I wonder, you know, if
- 6:00some of that value is sort of stuck to
- 6:02the card because it's part of the
- 6:04historical pricing. Not sure there, but
- 6:06because the leaders are so play-focused,
- 6:08I think it probably has more of an
- 6:09effect than some of the other chase
- 6:11cards. Let's talk about Odin. So I like
- 6:15Odin.
- 6:16I don't think most people know who Odin
- 6:17is. I don't think most people are going
- 6:18to care. He's in the top 25 for me
- 6:21because he is an OP01 leader and so that
- 6:23makes him more desirable than a lot of
- 6:24other leader categories, but we're going
- 6:26to put him in 21 through 25.
- 6:29Same thing with Kaido here. Odin
- 6:30deserves to be next to Kaido given their
- 6:32place in the story arc. I don't think
- 6:34that the average consumer is
- 6:35particularly aware of either of them, so
- 6:37we'll just go ahead and stick them
- 6:39together in the 21 through 25 range.
- 6:41Next up, we have OP02 and we have the
- 6:44Whitebeard from OP02. I actually think
- 6:46this image is pretty iconic. I think the
- 6:49mustache is just really memorable. Like
- 6:51it's just a really cool piece of art in
- 6:53my opinion. It's from an older set.
- 6:56Whitebeard is reasonably popular. So I'm
- 6:59going to put it in the 6 through 10
- 7:01range along with law at least for now.
- 7:03We may rearrange some of these at the
- 7:04end if it doesn't feel right, but for me
- 7:07he feels kind of right with law in that
- 7:10category. Next up after that, we have
- 7:12Garp
- 7:13who I think is a reasonably popular
- 7:15character and again, if your exposure is
- 7:17primarily through the live action,
- 7:20we're going to see more of him. It's
- 7:22OP02, so it's not as iconic, but again,
- 7:24OP02 didn't have any SPs. So this is
- 7:27another set where the leader prices are
- 7:28propped up by the lack of other chase
- 7:30cards beyond the manga.
- 7:32Given all that, I'm still going to put
- 7:33it behind the OP01 Crocodile just
- 7:35because I think OP01 is more iconic.
- 7:38Next up, we have the Smoker from OP02.
- 7:40Now as I've talked about before, Smoker
- 7:42featured prominently in season 2 of the
- 7:43live action. He's going to be reasonably
- 7:46prominent in season 3 of the live
- 7:47action. And so, for that reason, I like
- 7:49him better than some of the other
- 7:51smaller characters uh that we are going
- 7:53to get
- 7:54um or that we typically get with these
- 7:56cards. And so, I'm going to put him just
- 7:57behind Garp here
- 8:00uh
- 8:00in the 16 through 20 range. The OP03
- 8:03Nami is one of three entries from OP03,
- 8:06which I think had a really interesting
- 8:08and distinctive art style for their
- 8:10leaders.
- 8:11These are some of the leaders that the
- 8:13images do the least justice to. So, if
- 8:15you haven't seen these in person, I
- 8:16definitely recommend you try to find one
- 8:18because they are really cool the way
- 8:19they do the foiling and the contrast
- 8:21between the white and the colors. I'm a
- 8:23huge fan of this Nami. Um this is
- 8:26actually the most expensive leader card
- 8:28that was printed in a set where there
- 8:30were also SPs, which I think is really,
- 8:32really interesting. So, for all those
- 8:34reasons, I'm going to go ahead and put
- 8:35this in the top five behind the Zoro.
- 8:38Next up from OP03, we have the Ace. Um
- 8:41again, you know, I think the the
- 8:42contrast of the fire and the white here
- 8:44is really good. I think Ace is a
- 8:45somewhat popular character. He's going
- 8:47to be in live action season 3, so I see
- 8:49his stars being on the rise. And for all
- 8:51those reasons, I think we're going to go
- 8:53ahead and put him in the 11 to 15
- 8:55category. Next up, we have Katakuri from
- 8:57OP03. The art on this card is really,
- 9:00really fun. But, Katakuri is not that
- 9:02popular of a character. I would be kind
- 9:04of surprised if he becomes a super
- 9:05popular character from folks who are
- 9:07more casual or new to One Piece. You
- 9:09know, part of my logic with some of
- 9:11these cards is that if you're just
- 9:13getting into One Piece now,
- 9:15how long is it going to take you to get
- 9:17to some of the later arcs of the story,
- 9:19even if you stick with it? So, I think
- 9:20that there's way less upside for
- 9:22characters that are really interesting,
- 9:24but are introduced way later in the show
- 9:26than characters that we see earlier in
- 9:29the anime or the manga or the live
- 9:31action. And so, for that reason,
- 9:32Katakuri is going to get knocked down a
- 9:34peg, you know, the same with Oden and
- 9:36Kaido.
- 9:37Uh they come in very late as well.
- 9:39But given their place in OP01, I'm going
- 9:41to put them ahead of Katakuri. Next up,
- 9:43we have a card that I really really
- 9:45like, and this is the Vivi from OP04.
- 9:48Vivi got some introduction in the live
- 9:50action. She's going to be a huge feature
- 9:52in live action season 3. I think this
- 9:54scene is like one of the most iconic
- 9:57scenes in One Piece,
- 9:59and it's captured very well on the card.
- 10:00I think it's going to be really awesome
- 10:02when they make it in live action. So,
- 10:04this is the type of card that I think
- 10:06that as soon as you see this, it reminds
- 10:07you of that scene, and that makes it
- 10:09more desirable, even if it's not
- 10:11necessarily like Vivi is the most
- 10:14popular character. But again, given how
- 10:16much she's been featured, like I think
- 10:17she is going to be seen by a lot of
- 10:19people who've been newly introduced to
- 10:20the IP as being sort of a central
- 10:22character
- 10:23in the story. And so, for that reason,
- 10:25I'm going to put her pretty high up
- 10:26here. I'm going to put her in the six
- 10:29through 10, below the Whitebeard. I
- 10:32could even honestly see an argument for
- 10:34her being above the Whitebeard. Um, hmm.
- 10:37Yeah, maybe let's do that for now.
- 10:39Next up, we have the Luffy leader from
- 10:41OP05. I don't think that this is the
- 10:43most desirable of the Luffy art, but I
- 10:46do like the style from OP05. It is OP05,
- 10:49which is incredibly popular and very
- 10:51expensive, so I don't expect too many
- 10:53more of these to be opened. So, for all
- 10:54those reasons, I think it belongs on the
- 10:56list, but it's not going to be, you
- 10:57know, one of our top Luffy's. And so,
- 11:00for that reason, I'm going to go ahead
- 11:01and put it in the 11 through 15
- 11:03category. I'm probably going to put it
- 11:05behind the Ace, just because I think the
- 11:07Ace is, you know, a little bit more
- 11:09unique cuz it's our only Ace card on the
- 11:11list. Next up, we have OP06, which I
- 11:13actually really like the style of the
- 11:15leaders from OP06. This Yamato really
- 11:18stands out to me a lot as being a really
- 11:20interesting card. I don't know how much
- 11:23people are going to care about Yamato.
- 11:24You know, we just talked about
- 11:25characters who are introduced into the
- 11:28property late having less upside for
- 11:30popularity with new people who are now
- 11:33getting into One Piece. Um, but I just
- 11:35think the aesthetic of this card is
- 11:36really, really awesome. When I first saw
- 11:38it, I did not know who Yamato was, but I
- 11:40did resonate with like the more
- 11:43traditional Japanese print making style
- 11:45of it. And so, for all those reasons, I
- 11:47do think it belongs on this list. I am
- 11:49going to put it, I think, in the 16
- 11:53through 20 range, just behind Smoker.
- 11:56Next up, we have Boa from OP07. Now,
- 11:59this is kind of interesting because,
- 12:01I'll tell you now, that Boa had one of
- 12:04the widest gaps between the cost of her
- 12:06SP cards and her leader cards.
- 12:10And I think part of that is that we
- 12:11haven't really seen a Boa leader card
- 12:13that has like incredibly desirable art.
- 12:15I do think this card is cool, but it is
- 12:18less epic than a lot of the Boa SPs,
- 12:20which I do think holds it back. So, I do
- 12:22like this card, but I'm not sure that
- 12:24this is like going to be the Boa leader.
- 12:26I think we are going to get a really
- 12:27good one at some point that's really
- 12:29going to resonate with people. And so,
- 12:31for that reason, I think I'm going to
- 12:32put this in the 11 through 15.
- 12:35Given that it's Boa, I think I'm
- 12:36probably going to put it above the Ace.
- 12:39Next up, we have Chopper from OP08. Um,
- 12:42I also like this style of leader. As you
- 12:43can tell, I like the close-up images of
- 12:46the characters. I like them because they
- 12:48stand out as being different from the
- 12:49SPs and the alt arts. I think some of
- 12:51these other leaders that look more like
- 12:53an SP or look more like an alt art feel
- 12:56a little less distinctive. So, I really
- 12:58do like this style. I also think that
- 13:00the gag about Chopper not knowing how to
- 13:01hide is absolutely hilarious. You know,
- 13:03they introduced that in the season 2 of
- 13:05the live action, so I think other people
- 13:06will get the reference. Chopper also,
- 13:09while he's gotten some good promo cards,
- 13:11he has just not gotten good cards in
- 13:15boxes. He got the manga, which is
- 13:17awesome, but Chopper has never had an
- 13:19SP. I mean, probably the most ridiculous
- 13:21thing is that we have four Kid SPs, and
- 13:25we have no Chopper SPs. That makes
- 13:26absolutely no sense to me. We're
- 13:28eventually going to get them, but for
- 13:29now, this is like
- 13:31one of, if not the best Chopper card
- 13:33that you can pull in a box, uh, other
- 13:35than like the gold SSP from EB02 and the
- 13:37manga Chopper.
- 13:39So, for all of those reasons, I'm going
- 13:40to rank this pretty highly.
- 13:42Uh, I think
- 13:46I think I'm going to put it
- 13:49in front of the Boa just because I think
- 13:51there are so many more interesting Boa
- 13:52cards, uh, out there than there are
- 13:54Chopper cards currently in boxes. Next
- 13:56up, we have the OP09 Luffy. Um, I've
- 14:00said before that I think the art on this
- 14:02is really iconic. I think that if it was
- 14:03an SP, it would be worth a a whole lot
- 14:05more money than the $90 it's currently
- 14:07going for. And so, for all of those
- 14:09reasons, I expect this one to stand the
- 14:10test of time, and this one's going to go
- 14:12into my top five. Next up, we have
- 14:14Robin, and after Chopper, Robin is
- 14:16probably the one who the game has done
- 14:17the most disservice to in terms of not
- 14:19actually giving good cards. And so, for
- 14:21that reason, I think this is one of the
- 14:23best Robin cards that we've had. I do
- 14:25think this pose of her with her hat is
- 14:27pretty iconic. Uh, and so, for that
- 14:29reason, I'm going to rank this one
- 14:30pretty highly. I'm actually going to put
- 14:32this one,
- 14:33I think, in 6 through 10, behind the
- 14:35Law. Um, just because Robin does have a
- 14:37big fan base, and there hasn't been a
- 14:39lot to feed that fan base. I also think
- 14:42that OP09 is going to be an iconic set,
- 14:44so I like it for all of those reasons.
- 14:46Moving on to OP11, we have the Nami
- 14:48leader from OP11. So, I'll be honest,
- 14:50this is not my favorite of the Nami
- 14:52cards. I strongly prefer the OP03 Nami
- 14:54leader to this one, but it is a Nami
- 14:57leader, and we only have two, so it's
- 14:58probably got to be somewhere on this
- 15:00list. So, I'm going to go ahead and slot
- 15:01this in behind the Yamato. I just think
- 15:03the Yamato is a far more interesting
- 15:04looking card than this Nami, even though
- 15:06Nami is obviously way more popular than
- 15:08Yamato is as a character. Next up, we
- 15:10have our actually most expensive leader
- 15:13card, and this is the Luffy leader from
- 15:15EB02. This one is more expensive because
- 15:18it's rarer, but I also think it's a
- 15:19really, really awesome pose of Luffy. He
- 15:21looks really, really cool in this card.
- 15:23And so, for that reason, it's going to
- 15:25go in the top five. The question is
- 15:26where in the top five does it go?
- 15:28I think the OP01 Luffy is the most
- 15:31iconic of the leader cards. I think it's
- 15:33going to stay the most iconic of the
- 15:34leader cards, even the errata'd version.
- 15:37I also think that the Zoro leader is
- 15:39slightly more iconic. If I think of a
- 15:41leader, that's like the number two one
- 15:43that I think of. And so, while I really
- 15:45like this Luffy card, and I understand
- 15:47that it is more expensive, probably
- 15:49based on its rarity, I'm going to go
- 15:51ahead and slot it in at the number three
- 15:52spot.
- 15:54Next up, we have the OP03 Luffy. I think
- 15:57this is a somewhat generic Luffy leader
- 15:59card. I think it's kind of fun. This is
- 16:01probably the Luffy that I would rank the
- 16:03lowest of any of the cards on this list.
- 16:04So, I am going to put this in the 21
- 16:07through 25 category. OP03 is a pretty
- 16:10iconic set. So, I could see this card
- 16:12gaining popularity over time as it
- 16:14becomes new, but there's also a lot of
- 16:16these out there. So, I think I'm
- 16:17probably going to slot this
- 16:20>> [snorts]
- 16:21>> right in front of the Katakuri. I think
- 16:24that the OP01 leaders are probably just
- 16:26going to be their own thing, and they're
- 16:28going to be desirable just because
- 16:29they're OP01, even if the characters
- 16:30themselves are not necessarily that
- 16:32desirable. Next up, we have the Boa
- 16:35leader from OP04. I do think that this
- 16:39leader is okay. As I said before, I
- 16:42don't think that any of the Boa leaders
- 16:43are like amazing, and I think especially
- 16:45compared to her SPs, they don't stand
- 16:47out very much. Obviously, the price of
- 16:49this leader card is affected by, you
- 16:51know, its playability. It was high for a
- 16:53while because this was like the top meta
- 16:55deck. I think this probably goes next to
- 16:57the Nami because I think it's probably
- 16:59about the same quality of card. I think
- 17:01in general, Nami cards are a little bit
- 17:02more expensive than Boa cards. So, for
- 17:05that reason, I think I'm probably going
- 17:06to slot it in here at the 21 spot,
- 17:10uh rather than putting it ahead of the
- 17:11Nami. But, you know, don't skewer me for
- 17:14it. Obviously, if you disagree with it,
- 17:15hit me up in the comments, and let me
- 17:17know what you think. And our last card
- 17:19here is actually the OP 15 Luffy. And
- 17:22this is sort of my sleeper card of all
- 17:25the leaders that we've seen so far. This
- 17:26card's not very expensive at only $60,
- 17:29but this is actually I think the only
- 17:31Luffy card that we have seen printed in
- 17:33a box that contains all of the Straw
- 17:36Hats on it. We have the second
- 17:37anniversary Luffy leader that has all
- 17:39the Straw Hats and we also have the PSA
- 17:42promo that has all the Straw Hats. Both
- 17:44of those cards are like three to $400
- 17:47and this one's only 60.
- 17:49Obviously, this is a probably a more
- 17:50common card than that, but I do think
- 17:52that anything that has all the Straw
- 17:53Hats on it is going to do well long term
- 17:55and is going to be desirable.
- 17:57So, for all of those reasons, this may
- 17:59be extremely controversial, but I'm
- 18:00going to go ahead and slot this in at
- 18:02the number 10 slot. All right, so there
- 18:04you have it, your top 25 leader cards,
- 18:06at least in my opinion. Let's talk about
- 18:08a couple undervalued cards real quick.
- 18:10So, first up, I want to talk about the
- 18:11Rebecca from OP 15. Rebecca had another
- 18:14card in it was OP 04. That card was like
- 18:1875, $80 for a while. I think it's down
- 18:21to about $50, but you know, at only $19,
- 18:24I think the art on this is at least as
- 18:26good as the art on that one. Rebecca's
- 18:28not the most popular character, but she
- 18:30does have her fans. And so, I'm a little
- 18:32bit surprised that this card is only
- 18:33$19. I don't think it's wildly
- 18:36undervalued or going to go to the moon
- 18:38or anything, but you know, I think if
- 18:39you're looking for a nice card for less
- 18:40than 20 bucks, I think this one's pretty
- 18:42sweet. Next up, we have the Law from OP
- 18:4414. So, you know, Law is a reasonably
- 18:47popular character, so only $18 for a
- 18:50leader card of his is pretty good.
- 18:52Obviously, it's not the most exciting
- 18:54art of Law, but it is a pretty
- 18:56descriptive piece of artwork. It
- 18:58captures him doing what he does. For
- 19:00that reason, the fact that it's only
- 19:01$18, I feel like it's a little bit
- 19:02surprising. You know, again, I don't
- 19:04think there's like massive potential for
- 19:06this, but I would have expected it to be
- 19:07more in like a $30 range probably based
- 19:10on where his other cards are. Next up,
- 19:12we have a card that I did include on the
- 19:13slides because this was actually the
- 19:16average priced card for the leader
- 19:18cards, but this Zoro from OP12 is
- 19:21currently in the, you know, $55 to $58
- 19:25range. I know this is not the best Zoro
- 19:28card, but I actually think there's a lot
- 19:29of things to like about this, right?
- 19:31It's Zoro, he's in motion, you have a
- 19:33huge Mihawk in the background. I think
- 19:35the relationship between Zoro and Mihawk
- 19:37is pretty significant. I wouldn't be
- 19:38surprised if we get more sort of like
- 19:40Zoro Mihawk cards in the future that
- 19:43cause people to come back and look at
- 19:44this. So,
- 19:46basically, for the average price of a
- 19:48leader, the fact that it's Zoro and the
- 19:50fact that the art is pretty decent, I
- 19:52was surprised that this was average as
- 19:54opposed to being above average. So, as
- 19:56with all the other ones, I don't think
- 19:57this is ever going to be a wildly
- 19:59expensive card, but Zoro only has two
- 20:02leader cards that have currently been
- 20:04printed in boxes and one is $550 from
- 20:07OP01 and then you have this one for like
- 20:09$55 from OP12. Would I be surprised if
- 20:11this was like a $75 or an $80 card? That
- 20:14would make more sense to me, frankly.
- 20:16Next up, we have the Sabo from OP05. So,
- 20:19I know Sabo is not like the most popular
- 20:21character, but I'm frankly surprised
- 20:23that he isn't a little bit more popular
- 20:24given that he is a significant
- 20:26character, his relationship with Luffy,
- 20:28like he's probably only going to become
- 20:30more significant. They lightly
- 20:32introduced him in the live-action, so we
- 20:34may see him earlier than we have in the
- 20:36anime or the manga.
- 20:38And so, for all those reasons, the fact
- 20:39that this card is $15 and it's from
- 20:42OP05, one of the most iconic sets, I
- 20:45think it captures him really well. I
- 20:46think the art is really good. So, you
- 20:48know, for 15 bucks, I just feel like
- 20:50this is a cool binder card and I'm kind
- 20:52of surprised it's not more. And the last
- 20:53card I want to talk about is the Odin
- 20:55card from EB01.
- 20:57Um so, for those who don't know, EB01
- 20:59was an incredibly scarce set. I think we
- 21:01estimated that there were less than
- 21:028,000 cases that were opened. There
- 21:05There only, I believe, three leaders in
- 21:08that set. So, this card does appear more
- 21:11frequently in those boxes than other
- 21:13leader cards do appear in boxes for
- 21:15their sets. But, because of such a small
- 21:17print run, I actually think there's not
- 21:18that many of these out there. Unlike the
- 21:20other leaders in this set, which are
- 21:22kind of underwhelming characters and
- 21:23underwhelming art, I actually think the
- 21:25art in this one is fantastic. You have a
- 21:27bunch of different characters. You have
- 21:28like the whole Akazaya Nine crew in
- 21:30there.
- 21:31Um it's like a ton of motion, it's
- 21:33really interesting color. So, I just
- 21:34like this card a lot, and I think that
- 21:37given how rare it is, likely compared to
- 21:40some of the other leaders that we've
- 21:41talked about, the fact that it's only
- 21:42$40 is a little bit surprising. Again,
- 21:45this is not like something that's going
- 21:46to go to the moon, but like I wouldn't
- 21:48be shocked if it was like a $60 card.
- 21:49Obviously, if you enjoyed any of the
- 21:51cards that you saw either here or in the
- 21:53tier list, I am going to be including
- 21:55them in my eBay storefront, so you'll be
- 21:57able to quickly find them if you're
- 21:59looking for them. Obviously, no pressure
- 22:01to buy anything, but I want to keep a
- 22:02running list of the cards that I talk
- 22:04about so that it's easy for people to
- 22:06find even if they end up buying it
- 22:07somewhere else. Of course, always do
- 22:09your due diligence, not a guarantee that
- 22:11eBay has the best price or that the
- 22:12listing I posted is going to be the best
- 22:14one for you. So, you know, if you buy
- 22:17through that, we'll get a commission,
- 22:18which is awesome, but if not, I want you
- 22:20to get the best deal possible. That's
- 22:21all I have for today. As always, I hope
- 22:23you found this interesting. If you did,
- 22:25please like, comment, and if you haven't
- 22:27already, subscribe. It helps us out a
- 22:29ton. Also, you know, as I mentioned, we
- 22:31have our eBay storefront, and we also
- 22:32have our TCGPlayer affiliate link. If
- 22:34you're looking to purchase anything, it
- 22:36helps us out a ton if you do that. We
- 22:37get a small commission, but it doesn't
- 22:39cost you anything. So, with that, as
- 22:41always, I appreciate your time, and I
- 22:43will see you in the next one.
