16. 2:00friends paul and negine here all four of
17. 2:03us have just gotten out early this
18. 2:04morning from the dearborn city jail
19. 2:07we were there because of something that
20. 2:09happened yesterday at the arab festival
21. 2:11here in dearborn
22. 2:13now you'll remember what happened last
23. 2:15year at the arab festival we recorded a
24. 2:19conversation that muslims gave us
25. 2:21permission to record we asked a question
26. 2:24at a booth that
27. 2:26invited us to ask questions and we were
28. 2:28repeatedly assaulted for it not just
29. 2:30nabil and i but also mary jo sharp who
30. 2:32was not saying anything to anyone she
31. 2:35was just standing there holding a camera
32. 2:37and she was assaulted repeatedly by the
33. 2:39muslims in dearborn and this this made
34. 2:43us want to take extra precautions this
35. 2:45year so that we don't end up with a
36. 2:48woman being assaulted and so what we did
37. 2:50to make sure that we took extra
38. 2:52precautions uh was to not hand out any
39. 2:55pamphlets whatsoever which we didn't do
40. 2:57last year either we also didn't yell
41. 2:59into a crowd or anything in fact we made
42. 3:01sure that the only people we talked to
43. 3:03were people who first approached us and
44. 3:06this was to limit accusations of
45. 3:08instigation and disruption we knew
46. 3:10people have a tendency to accuse us of
47. 3:13being disruptive of inciting and
48. 3:15instigating so we wanted to make sure we
49. 3:17did absolutely nothing of the sort
50. 3:20and what we found repeatedly in dearborn
51. 3:22is that any random person can walk up to
52. 3:25a police officer to a security guard and
53. 3:27say those christians are bothering us or
54. 3:30those christians are doing something and
55. 3:32police will not hesitate or security
56. 3:34will not hesitate uh to come over stop
57. 3:36us remove us for the from the festival
58. 3:38or in this case
59. 3:39uh lock us up put us in jail and so in
60. 3:42this situation
61. 3:44we were falsely accused and we had the
62. 3:46footage we said to the police officers
63. 3:47we have the video footage right here on
64. 3:49our cameras of exactly what happened
65. 3:51will you sit down and watch it with us
66. 3:53they refused and instead they put us in
67. 3:56cells
68. 3:57so so here's what actually happened
69. 3:58while we were at the festival
70. 4:00we didn't approach anyone just like i
71. 4:02said we waited until people approached
72. 4:04us and they did approach us they
73. 4:05remembered us from the video from last
74. 4:06year and they would come up to us
75. 4:08accusing us threatening us
76. 4:10saying we were racist saying that they
77. 4:12were going to hurt us
78. 4:13and yelling curses and insults at us but
79. 4:16they actually did
80. 4:17engage in civilized conversation with us
81. 4:20though even though they were saying
82. 4:21these things we talked to them and
83. 4:23within a matter of minutes multiple
84. 4:24times we were talking very amicably
85. 4:27talking with a solid understanding of
86. 4:29who the other person was and enjoying
87. 4:30the conversation this happened multiple
88. 4:32times we made many friends yesterday at
89. 4:33the festival
90. 4:35the last time this was happening people
91. 4:36had approached us they had accused us
92. 4:38yet again they were threatening us
93. 4:39cursing us the conversation lasted for
94. 4:42about 10 minutes
95. 4:43but we were ending it amicably when all
96. 4:45of a sudden police came and put us in
97. 4:47handcuffs uh paul and david were there
98. 4:50recording paul would you tell us exactly
99. 4:52what you saw yeah i was standing there
100. 4:55with nabil i had the camera in my hand
101. 4:58nabil was talking to a group of about 20
102. 5:00or so young muslim adults five or six of
103. 5:02them were asking questions and they were
104. 5:04going back and forth question answer
105. 5:06normal civilized discussion
106. 5:08when three or four cops came into the
107. 5:10middle of the group
108. 5:12pulled nabeel out i thought for security
109. 5:14reasons
110. 5:15and then started to put handcuffs on him
111. 5:17i was standing there just recording
112. 5:19everything not saying anything handing
113. 5:21out pamphlets
114. 5:22next thing i know the camera was being
115. 5:24forcibly removed from my hand and i was
116. 5:27put in cuffs as well and taken away and
117. 5:29uh nagin was was also recording she was
118. 5:32much further away than anyone else nagin
119. 5:34can you can you tell us what happened to
120. 5:35you right nabeel i was
121. 5:37i was in the background holding a camera
122. 5:39i was about 100 more than 100 feet away
123. 5:42from them just holding a camera making
124. 5:43sure that if anything happened that i
125. 5:45would have other footage of it
126. 5:48when all of a sudden i had police
127. 5:50surround me and try to take my camera
128. 5:52and so then i was surprised that they
129. 5:53were there
130. 5:54because i had done nothing wrong i
131. 5:56wasn't even near the vicinity of nebula
132. 5:59and david
133. 6:00and they come up to me they tell me to
134. 6:02stop recording and so then i try to get
135. 6:04loud because
136. 6:05i'm trying to get nebula and david's
137. 6:07attention
138. 6:08and so they use that against me in
139. 6:09charge charge me with an extra charge
140. 6:12and so now they haul me off to the
141. 6:15trailer put handcuffs on me and haul me
142. 6:17off to jail i'm 18 years old i've had no
143. 6:19record and now i'm being hauled off to
144. 6:21jail for holding a camera at this
145. 6:23dearborn festival and that's pretty
146. 6:25alarming david
147. 6:27you were there too what happened to you
148. 6:29well i was recording the conversation
149. 6:31the muslims seem to want to have a
150. 6:33conversation with you and so i just
151. 6:35stood there recording on the one hand it
152. 6:37was absolutely shocking to have the
153. 6:40muslims there i mean the police there
154. 6:41come up and put handcuffs on me on the
155. 6:43other hand it's not shocking at all once
156. 6:45we understood what happened last year
157. 6:47once we understand
158. 6:49what sharia law calls for and people
159. 6:51were confused last year when we call
160. 6:52this sharia in the u.s
161. 6:54what are you talking about people aren't
162. 6:56forced to wear veils well that's not
163. 6:57what we meant we were pointing out the
164. 6:59simple fact that there are certain
165. 7:01elements of sharia law that are being
166. 7:03enforced in dearborn under sharia law if
167. 7:05you're a christian you're a second class
168. 7:06citizen you cannot go out and proclaim
169. 7:08the gospel to muslims you cannot go out
170. 7:10and disagree with islamic law or
171. 7:13criticize muhammad you can't do any of
172. 7:15that and that's exactly what we find
173. 7:16being enforced in dearborn so on the one
174. 7:19hand you know it was kind of jarring
175. 7:20when the police grabbed me and put
176. 7:22handcuffs on me forced my camera down
177. 7:24but on the other hand

179. 7:26were kind of expecting something like
180. 7:28that to happen
181. 7:29and you know a lot of people have
182. 7:31accused us online of
183. 7:33of lying of being deceptive of being
184. 7:36rude and ridiculing muslims of being
185. 7:38racist uh the truth is none of that
186. 7:40actually happened and that's why we have
187. 7:42the cameras with us we have the cameras
188. 7:44to record what was actually going on and
189. 7:46when you see this footage you will see
190. 7:48that we were proclaiming love to muslims
191. 7:50we were proclaiming the love of jesus
192. 7:51christ i was wearing a shirt that says
193. 7:53jesus always loves you uh and and that
194. 7:56was the message we were proclaiming and
195. 7:57we were waiting for people to approach
196. 7:59us yet already online we're seeing
197. 8:01people it hasn't even been 12 hours
198. 8:02since we've been released from jail and
199. 8:04already online people are accused
200. 8:05accusing us of having disrupted people
201. 8:07at this festival of having incited uh
202. 8:11a problem of having caused disruption
203. 8:14you will see you will see when the
204. 8:16footage comes out our story will remain
205. 8:18exactly the same we will not change our
206. 8:20story because it is the truth and all
207. 8:22the evidence that's there all the
208. 8:23footage that's there will fit our story
209. 8:25to a t
210. 8:26other people will have to change their
211. 8:28stories other people will not fit the
212. 8:30evidence with what they're saying
213. 8:31because their stories are wrong i want
214. 8:34everyone to take note of that and see
215. 8:35exactly what happens when this story
