  1. 0:00okay let's be real if you are an iPhone
  2. 0:02user if you're in the Apple ecosystem
  3. 0:04and you're maybe looking to get a
  4. 0:05smartwatch do some activity tracking
  5. 0:07Health tracking and possibly get some
  6. 0:09notifications on your wrist you're
  7. 0:11probably going with the Apple watch
  8. 0:14which makes sense Apple's ecosystem is
  9. 0:16pretty great and when you fall into
  10. 0:18Apple's Walled Garden Of Products it
  11. 0:20becomes kind of out of the ordinary to
  12. 0:22consider anything other than the Apple
  13. 0:24watch but what if I told you that for
  14. 0:26the past couple of months not only have
  15. 0:27I been testing a thirdparty alternative
  16. 0:30but in the end actually endend up
  17. 0:32preferring it and completely switching
  18. 0:34over to it leaving my Apple watch Ultra
  19. 0:36to sit in the drawer collecting dust
  20. 0:38these are five reasons why I switched
  21. 0:40over to Garmin despite being an Apple
  22. 0:41user and why you might want to consider
  23. 0:44doing so as well let's get into it now
  24. 0:46the watch I have here is called the
  25. 0:47Garmin epics Pro Gen 2 it's one of
  26. 0:49garmin's Flagship do everything watches
  27. 0:51and pretty much directly competes with
  28. 0:53the Apple watch Ultra they both feature
  29. 0:55bright OLED displays are built with
  30. 0:57titanium and sapphire crystal glass and
  31. 1:00this year with the updated Phoenix 8
  32. 1:02which replaces this watch you'll even
  33. 1:03get die functionality and some other
  34. 1:05smart features which the Apple watch
  35. 1:07Ultra also has so with so many things in
  36. 1:10common why did I go with the Garmin over
  37. 1:12the Apple watch the first reason is
  38. 1:14going to be user experience now on the
  39. 1:16Garmin even though it does have a
  40. 1:18perfectly functioning touchcreen you can
  41. 1:19actually use this watch completely with
  42. 1:22the buttons sort of acts like a TV
  43. 1:24remote so you have your up and down as
  44. 1:26you can see I'm sort of cycling through
  45. 1:28these menus you have your select
  46. 1:30and then you have your back button right
  47. 1:32here now the real world benefit of using
  48. 1:35buttons as opposed to a touch screen
  49. 1:37like on the Apple watch Ultra is let's
  50. 1:39say you're in water like if you're
  51. 1:41swimming or you're around water like
  52. 1:43doing dishes probably something that's a
  53. 1:45little bit more common is you're doing a
  54. 1:47workout maybe you're running and your
  55. 1:49hands are sweaty in all of those
  56. 1:50scenarios you can still do exactly what
  57. 1:53you would want to do on this watch
  58. 1:55whereas on the Apple watch Ultra if you
  59. 1:57have gloves on if your hands are wet
  60. 1:59good luck trying to do anything on that
  61. 2:01watch because the way that it's set up
  62. 2:03you really have to use the touchscreen
  63. 2:05something else I really love about this
  64. 2:07watch is the customizability with
  65. 2:09shortcuts so if I press and hold the top
  66. 2:12right button I actually get to my alarms
  67. 2:15I've also set up the top right and the
  68. 2:16left middle button to a stopwatch and
  69. 2:20then if I want to get to Spotify I can
  70. 2:22just press and hold this button and it
  71. 2:24opens up my
  72. 2:26playlists now the second reason why I
  73. 2:28switch to a Garmin is is because of the
  74. 2:30routes and map support this Garmin comes
  75. 2:34straight out of the box with offline
  76. 2:36worldwide maps with Road information
  77. 2:39Trail information even ski resort
  78. 2:41information golf courses and it's just
  79. 2:44all available as soon as you take it out
  80. 2:46of the box I truly mean it when I say
  81. 2:48that if you have this watch on your
  82. 2:50wrist you will not get lost and this
  83. 2:51doesn't just benefit those hardcore
  84. 2:53adventurers who are doing their own
  85. 2:55thing like going off the beaten path
  86. 2:57this also benefits you if you're running
  87. 2:59cycling or doing any activity where you
  88. 3:01might want to follow a certain route one
  89. 3:03of my favorite things about the Garmin
  90. 3:05is that it supports the universal GPX
  91. 3:08file which you can download from all
  92. 3:10Trails stva or literally any other
  93. 3:12popular routing app or website and then
  94. 3:15load it onto this watch through Garmin
  95. 3:17Connect and then you'll get turn BYT
  96. 3:19turn navigation to make sure you're
  97. 3:21staying on that route if you go off path
  98. 3:23the watch will actually reroute you and
  99. 3:26the GPX file also contains elevation
  100. 3:28data giving you a visual elevation
  101. 3:30profile of your entire routee and some
  102. 3:32really meaningful stats like how much
  103. 3:34climbing you have left so you can better
  104. 3:36adjust your effort levels depending on
  105. 3:38what's coming up Garmin also has a
  106. 3:40really comprehensive mapping software
  107. 3:42allowing you to create different courses
  108. 3:44and routes and also gives you heat maps
  109. 3:46of the most traveled roads and realtime
  110. 3:48elevation data now Apple did release a
  111. 3:50very basic routing tool with watch OS 11
  112. 3:54and iOS 18 however the difference
  113. 3:56between these two systems is night and
  114. 3:58day and there's a lot that Apple has to
  115. 4:00catch up on before it can even get close
  116. 4:02to what Garmin has
  117. 4:05currently now reason number three is
  118. 4:07going to be the personal training and
  119. 4:08the coaching that you get for free with
  120. 4:11this watch so every morning your watch
  121. 4:13will give you a summary of your day
  122. 4:15including upcoming events weather how
  123. 4:18you slept and how your body is
  124. 4:19recovering from potential workouts but
  125. 4:22what's really cool here is that it'll
  126. 4:23actually recommend you a workout based
  127. 4:26off of how you're doing and actually if
  128. 4:28I go into my my calendar glance anything
  129. 4:31that's in yellow is actually going to be
  130. 4:33a suggested workout so I can actually
  131. 4:35click in here and on Monday I can either
  132. 4:38do 30 minutes of running or an hour of
  133. 4:42cycling you can see after that 1H hour
  134. 4:44training on Tuesday it's actually a rest
  135. 4:47day like how cool is that just to have a
  136. 4:50personal trainer built into your wrist
  137. 4:52to recommend you workouts based off of
  138. 4:55how your body is doing I think that is
  139. 4:58just a really cool feature that they
  140. 4:59include for free that the Apple watch
  141. 5:02doesn't really have an answer to now
  142. 5:04I've already talked a bit about the
  143. 5:05Garmin Connect app but if we just hop
  144. 5:07into here go to training and planning
  145. 5:10and then tap on workouts and find a
  146. 5:13workout you'll see that there are also a
  147. 5:15ton of built-in workouts that you can
  148. 5:18explore here so let's just say we wanted
  149. 5:20to do leg day um this is for people who
  150. 5:23are also into strength training or
  151. 5:25lifting if I save this to my workouts
  152. 5:27and then right here in the top right
  153. 5:29you'll see this send to device button if
  154. 5:30I click my epics Pro watch it'll
  155. 5:33actually send that workout to my watch
  156. 5:35um we can actually scroll down here to
  157. 5:38leg day and we'll get a really detailed
  158. 5:40view of what exactly we need to do here
  159. 5:43as well as a diagram of how to do that
  160. 5:47actual workout like look at this guy
  161. 5:49he's getting deep he has good form let's
  162. 5:52go to another one so barbell straight
  163. 5:54leg deadlift 10 reps this is how you do
  164. 5:58it he's going down and he's going up
  165. 6:00fast also I think that it's cool that
  166. 6:02it's not just for strength training like
  167. 6:04if you wanted to do some stretching like
  168. 6:06a full body recovery flow or if you
  169. 6:08wanted to do some yoga um there's
  170. 6:11something for everyone here and again
  171. 6:14it's all built in there's no
  172. 6:15subscription just this is just included
  173. 6:18with the watch now by the way if you are
  174. 6:20conscious of your health and you want to
  175. 6:22take your back Health more seriously one
  176. 6:24of the best upgrades that you can make
  177. 6:26for your home office is a good office
  178. 6:28chair which brings me to today's sponsor
  179. 6:30see who their new S100 ergonomic chair
  180. 6:32is one of the most adjustable and
  181. 6:34affordable chairs that I've ever seen
  182. 6:37not only does this chair look modern and
  183. 6:38really well styled it also features all
  184. 6:40of the typical adjustments you'd expect
  185. 6:42from a good office chair like seat
  186. 6:44height seat depth four-way adjustable
  187. 6:47armrest with height position and angle
  188. 6:49that moves with the back rest as well as
  189. 6:51three lockable recline positions
  190. 6:53whenever you want to take a short break
  191. 6:54you can sit back and lounge with a Max
  192. 6:56recline angle of 135° but also some
  193. 6:59things that are unique to this chair are
  194. 7:01the height adjustable back rest to
  195. 7:03accommodate for users with different
  196. 7:04heights and the unique dual Dynamic
  197. 7:07lumbar support which uses these
  198. 7:09omnidirectional Springs to flex and
  199. 7:11shift dynamically with your torso and
  200. 7:13back installation was really easy and it
  201. 7:15comes with all the tools that you need
  202. 7:17and the overall build quality is also
  203. 7:19really high quality with a durable mesh
  204. 7:20fabric that is breathable and tough
  205. 7:23definitely check it out if you're
  206. 7:24interested with the link in the
  207. 7:25description and a big thank you to see
  208. 7:27who for sponsoring this video all right
  209. 7:29now we're getting into the last two
  210. 7:31reasons of why I switched to this watch
  211. 7:32and the fourth reason it's probably one
  212. 7:35of the biggest it's going to be battery
  213. 7:37life now with this specific watch I'm
  214. 7:39getting 6 days of battery life and so
  215. 7:41you're getting 6 days with the always on
  216. 7:44display on but if I actually turn the
  217. 7:46always on display off now we're getting
  218. 7:4917 days of battery life which is insane
  219. 7:53uh the Apple watch Ultra gets 2 days
  220. 7:55like I don't know how Apple's on the
  221. 7:5610th Generation of the Apple watch and
  222. 7:59still
  223. 8:00they're stuck on an all day battery life
  224. 8:02so what can you do with a 6-day battery
  225. 8:05life well you can take it on a weekend
  226. 8:06trip without even bring the charger
  227. 8:08that's been great if you do a really
  228. 8:10long activity you're not worried about
  229. 8:12the watch dying also just on the
  230. 8:14day-to-day stuff if you want to use your
  231. 8:16watch for sleep tracking you don't have
  232. 8:19to throw it on the charger before you go
  233. 8:20to bed just to make sure you have enough
  234. 8:22juice to last throughout the night there
  235. 8:24is zero battery anxiety with this watch
  236. 8:27and you can even go longer if you get
  237. 8:28one of the other ones with solar so yeah
  238. 8:31definitely that is one of the biggest
  239. 8:32reasons why I moved away from the Apple
  240. 8:34watch but then the fifth and final
  241. 8:36reason of why I switched to the Garmin
  242. 8:38is because of the built-in flashlight so
  243. 8:42that's right built into the top of this
  244. 8:44watch is an LED and you can even change
  245. 8:48that to a red LED if you wanted to be
  246. 8:50more Stealth at night or if you're out
  247. 8:52camping I've definitely been using this
  248. 8:54flashlight way more than I thought I
  249. 8:55would just for finding things at night
  250. 8:58or if I get out of bed and I want to go
  251. 8:59to the restroom can simply just double
  252. 9:01tap on my wrist and also one thing that
  253. 9:03I love is all the different effects that
  254. 9:05you can add on here so there's blink and
  255. 9:07probably my favorite is the blitz one
  256. 9:10which I've actually used at night if I'm
  257. 9:12caught out after dark and going on a run
  258. 9:14uh just allows for cars to see me way
  259. 9:16easier is it Overkill to have a
  260. 9:18flashlight on a watch probably do I use
  261. 9:21it all the time yes but yeah those are
  262. 9:24the five reasons of why I switched from
  263. 9:27my Apple watch to the Garin but should
  264. 9:30you switch I think that all comes down
  265. 9:32to what you prioritize and value in a
  266. 9:34watch for people who simply view the
  267. 9:36watch as a tool who want to take their
  268. 9:38fitness journey a little bit more
  269. 9:40seriously the longer battery life the
  270. 9:42routing and mapping software as well as
  271. 9:43the more robust user experience really
  272. 9:46makes this watch the ultimate tool that
  273. 9:48you can rely on 24/7 you might not be
  274. 9:50able to take calls or reply to messages
  275. 9:52or control your smart home but it still
  276. 9:54is smart enough to connect to your
  277. 9:57calendar to let you know of your
  278. 9:58upcoming events send notifications to
  279. 10:00your watch and I think one of my
  280. 10:02favorite features is you can still ping
  281. 10:04your smartphone from your watch let's
  282. 10:06say if you lost your smartphone uh you
  283. 10:08can still ping it with the Bluetooth
  284. 10:10connection if it's within
  285. 10:12[Music]
  286. 10:14range so yeah personally the fact that
  287. 10:16this isn't as smart as my Apple watch
  288. 10:18Ultra doesn't really bother me I think
  289. 10:20those trade-offs are well worth it and
  290. 10:22at least for me this is the better
  291. 10:25Smartwatch but what do you think did I
  292. 10:27make some good points about the Garmin
  293. 10:29and what do you prioritize when it comes
  294. 10:31to having a good Smartwatch let me know
  295. 10:33down below and as always consider
  296. 10:35subscribing to the channel if you want
  297. 10:37to see more of this Tech content leave a
  298. 10:39like on your way out maybe check out
  299. 10:40another video and I'll catch you guys in
  300. 10:43the next one peace
  301. 10:46[Music]
