Apple Watch Series 11 vs SE 3: Which to Buy? — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00The Apple Watch Series 11 and SC3 are
- 0:01here, and Apple has finally leveled the
- 0:03playing field, bringing pretty close
- 0:05feature parody to their standard
- 0:06watches. And in this video, we're going
- 0:07to talk about all the features these
- 0:09have to offer, when you should save some
- 0:10money and get the SC3, or when you
- 0:12should spend a little more to get the
- 0:13Series 11. The main difference in these
- 0:15is actually the design of them. So, the
- 0:16Series 11 is actually a little bit
- 0:18thinner and flatter than the SE3.
- 0:20Whenever you look at them, you might not
- 0:21notice that, but actually having it on
- 0:23your wrist, you definitely notice it
- 0:25feels a little bit flatter and a little
- 0:26bit more comfortable. Both of these do
- 0:28now finally have the always on display.
- 0:30This used to be a feature missing from
- 0:32the SE series, but the always on display
- 0:34is amazing because you don't have to
- 0:35actually raise your watch to look at it
- 0:37if you want to see what's on the screen.
- 0:38The sizes of these are also a little bit
- 0:40different. You can get the series 11 in
- 0:42either 42 or 46 mm. The SE is available
- 0:45in 40 and 44 mm, which is a little bit
- 0:48smaller display. Also, the viewing
- 0:50angles on these are slightly different.
- 0:52The SE does not give you as wide of a
- 0:54viewing angle, which means if you got it
- 0:55on your wrist, you may find that you
- 0:57have to actually adjust the angle to be
- 0:58able to see the display. But the flatter
- 1:00design and the improved display on the
- 1:02Series 11 means you can see it from
- 1:04pretty much any viewing angle. The next
- 1:06difference is in the materials. Both of
- 1:08these do come stock with aluminum, but
- 1:10if you would like, you can upgrade the
- 1:1211 to get titanium options. The Series
- 1:1511 also has the sapphire crystal
- 1:16display, which is going to be a little
- 1:18bit more scratch and dust resistant than
- 1:20the SE, but I would say with the SE,
- 1:22you're saving a little bit of money, and
- 1:24this might be worth it because if you
- 1:25ever do bust the display, it's cheaper
- 1:26to go buy a new one. Also, the Series 11
- 1:28does have double the display brightness
- 1:30of the SE3. I found for me, it never
- 1:32really seemed to matter. I could always
- 1:33see both of these, but in the harshest
- 1:35sunlight conditions, that's when you'll
- 1:36appreciate the Series 11 over the SE3.
- 1:39The next thing about these that's really
- 1:40interesting is they actually both have
- 1:42the same S10 chip, the same W3 wireless
- 1:44chip, the same neural engine, and 64 GB
- 1:47of storage on these, which means that
- 1:49core performance on both of these is
- 1:51going to be pretty much identical. The
- 1:52main difference is the Series 11 has the
- 1:54second generation wideband chip, which
- 1:55is going to allow you to activate
- 1:57precision finding to find your iPhone,
- 1:58which will actually guide you closer to
- 2:00your phone. But with the SC3, all it'll
- 2:02do is allow you to beep the iPhone,
- 2:03which for most people is still going to
- 2:05be very helpful for helping you locate
- 2:07your phone if you lost it in a couch or
- 2:09something like that. These have the same
- 2:10exact interaction and controls, though.
- 2:12You get the digital crown, a button on
- 2:14the side. They also both have ondevice
- 2:16Siri, wrist flick, and double tap
- 2:18gesture support. The Series 11 really
- 2:20has advantages in the health sensors,
- 2:22though, namely in the fact that it has
- 2:23hypertension ECG, and it has the blood
- 2:26oxygen sensor that are both missing from
- 2:28the SC3. But both of them do still have
- 2:31SOS, emergency calling and fall
- 2:33detection on both of them, which is
- 2:34pretty important. And they also both
- 2:36give you sleep tracking, the Vitals app,
- 2:38temperature sensing, and cycle tracking
- 2:40as well. Another big difference between
- 2:42the two of these is in battery life.
- 2:44Series 11 promises up to 24 hours of
- 2:46battery life or 38 hours in low power
- 2:48mode. The SE gives you 18 hours of
- 2:50battery life or 32 hours in low power
- 2:52mode, which is going to be pretty
- 2:53comparable and mean that you're going to
- 2:55have to keep these charged regularly.
- 2:57But the Series 11 fast charges to 80% in
- 2:5930 minutes. And the SE takes 45 minutes
- 3:02to reach 80%. So that's going to be a
- 3:04little bit faster if you need to
- 3:05recharge this very quickly without
- 3:07leaving it on your charger for too long.
- 3:08Also, both of these can give you 8 hours
- 3:10of battery life in about 15 minutes. And
- 3:12I found both of them to feel about the
- 3:14same for sleep tracking, although the
- 3:15Series 11 to me is still a little bit
- 3:17more comfortable than the SE3. Both of
- 3:19the watches are water resistant to 50
- 3:21meters, but the Series 11 supports
- 3:23snorkeling and it also has a depth gauge
- 3:25on it up to 6 meters and it has water
- 3:27temperature sensing as well. The SC3
- 3:30does start at $250 and the Series 11
- 3:32starts at $400. And the price does
- 3:34increase on both of these if you get the
- 3:35bigger display and also if you get a
- 3:37cellular equipped one as well. So, if
- 3:39you're trying to decide between the two
- 3:41of these, how do you decide if you
- 3:42should spend the extra 150 bucks to buy
- 3:44the Series 11 over the SE? really buy
- 3:46the SE if you're a first-time buyer and
- 3:48if you really only need core fitness
- 3:50safety features and if you want to save
- 3:51a significant amount of money cuz you're
- 3:53still going to have the same performance
- 3:54on Siri. You're going to have great
- 3:56notifications, the ability to text on
- 3:58this and so many things like that. The
- 4:00Series 11 really just takes everything
- 4:01up a notch with the brighter display,
- 4:03the better viewing angles, and with the
- 4:05slightly larger area that you can do
- 4:07things like type on the screen. I also
- 4:08do appreciate all the extra health
- 4:10sensors on this, but the SE3 still has
- 4:12all the essentials that you need. The
- 4:14Series 11 really just takes everything
- 4:15up a notch with features like
- 4:16hypertension. So, which watch do you
- 4:18think fits your lifestyle better? The
- 4:19SE3 or the Series 11? Let me know in the
