- 0:00Hello everyone, welcome to the Taizi
- 0:02channel, I'm Rachel. To be honest, the
- 0:04upgrades in previous Apple Watch
- 0:05generations weren't very compelling to
- 0:07me, but this new Apple Watch features a
- 0:09brand-new health sensor system and some
- 0:11new features I really like, so I've
- 0:13been especially interested in this one.
- 0:14In this video, I'll first unbox the
- 0:17Apple Watch Series 10, check out the
- 0:19changes in this generation, and share
- 0:21the key new features. Plus, since the
- 0:24Apple Watch Series 10 comes with the
- 0:27latest watchOS 11, I’ll cover those
- 0:29new features later in the video, so
- 0:31even if you don't have the Series 10,
- 0:33you can still use them if your watch
- 0:36supports watchOS 11. If you want to see
- 0:39more Apple tutorials or tech unboxings,
- 0:42remember to subscribe first. First.
- 0:47First, I’m wearing the aluminum Apple
- 0:49Watch Series 10 in the new Jet Black
- 0:51color, paired with an Olive Sport Loop.
- 0:53I personally think it looks
- 0:55sophisticated and timeless, and it
- 0:57feels very premium. If you prefer a
- 0:59different material, you can also choose
- 1:02this fabric Sport Loop. It’s a more
- 1:04lightweight style and uses a
- 1:05hook-and-loop fastener. The overall
- 1:08design of the Apple Watch Series 10
- 1:09hasn't changed much compared to the
- 1:11previous generation; it still comes in
- 1:1442mm and 46mm sizes. The one I have
- 1:16here is the 42mm model. But it's worth
- 1:20mentioning that the aluminum version
- 1:22now features an Ion-X glass upgrade,
- 1:25making it 60%more durable than the
- 1:27previous generation, offering better
- 1:29protection against daily bumps and
- 1:32scratches. The exterior design hasn't
- 1:35changed much otherwise, so I want to
- 1:37dive straight into the most important
- 1:39feature of the Apple Watch Series 10:
- 1:41the all-new health sensor system. This
- 1:43new health sensor system primarily
- 1:44improves the frequency of heart rate
- 1:46and HRV (heart rate variability)
- 1:47measurements, allowing the Apple Watch
- 1:49Series 10 to monitor our physical state
- 1:51more closely throughout the day. Unlike
- 1:53the previous Apple Watch Series 10,
- 1:55which measured background heart rate
- 1:56about every five minutes—mostly while
- 1:58sedentary—the Series 11 now takes
- 2:00readings every five seconds, all day
- 2:02long. It even works while you're moving
- 2:04, increasing the background heart rate
- 2:06sampling frequency to 60 times that of
- 2:08the previous generation. Plus, when you
- 2:10open the Heart Rate app, you can now
- 2:12see the heart rate graph update in real
- 2:13time. Additionally, it tracks Heart
- 2:15Rate Variability (HRV), which reflects
- 2:17our body's physical stress. It now
- 2:19measures this as often as every five
- 2:20minutes, 24 times more frequently than
- 2:22the previous generation, allowing for a
- 2:23much more comprehensive record of our
- 2:25daily HRV fluctuations. The Apple Watch
- 2:26Series 11 has also introduced a new
- 2:28metric called Recovery Heart Rate
- 2:29Variability. It is primarily used to
- 2:31monitor our daily recovery and stress
- 2:33levels. Generally speaking, if your
- 2:34reading is higher than usual, it
- 2:35typically means your recovery is better
- 2:37; if it’s significantly lower, it may
- 2:38indicate you've been under higher
- 2:40stress or haven't been resting enough
- 2:41lately. You can now open the Heart Rate
- 2:43app directly on the Apple Watch and
- 2:45scroll down. At the very bottom, you
- 2:47can see your Recovery Heart Rate
- 2:49Variability value. You can also view
- 2:51both the Heart Rate Variability and
- 2:53Recovery Heart Rate Variability figures
- 2:55separately in the Health app on your
- 2:57iPhone. Furthermore, the Vitals feature
- 2:59has received an upgrade this time as
- 3:01well. Overnight Vitals now analyzes
- 3:03Recovery Heart Rate Variability
- 3:05alongside your personal baselines,
- 3:07making it easier to track your recent
- 3:09physical condition. We've also added a
- 3:11Daytime Vitals metric; you can switch
- 3:14between daytime and nighttime Vitals
- 3:16data in the top right corner. This
- 3:19daytime view allows you to spot
- 3:21potential issues during the day before
- 3:23they show up in your nighttime Vitals.
- 3:28With the Apple Watch Series 11’s
- 3:31significantly increased heart rate and
- 3:33HRV sampling, plus the more
- 3:35comprehensive daytime data added to
- 3:37Vitals, it helps us stay on top of more
- 3:39physical changes. Apple has integrated
- 3:42all this data into a new feature I
- 3:44really like: Training Readiness. This
- 3:46Readiness score synthesizes your recent
- 3:49activity logs, training load, Vitals,
- 3:51and sleep scores to assess your
- 3:52physical state for the day, giving you
- 3:54a score from 0 to 10. Beyond just the
- 3:56score, the system will tell you
- 3:58directly if today is better for
- 3:59recovery, taking it easy, being ready,
- 4:01or going all out. So, compared to
- 4:03looking at a bunch of numbers, I find
- 4:05this way of presenting it very
- 4:06intuitive. Personally, I use it as a
- 4:08reference for planning my daily
- 4:10schedule. If it shows "Recovery" or "
- 4:12Taking it easy," I'll set aside more
- 4:15time to rest and avoid tasks that
- 4:17require high concentration or mental
- 4:19effort. But if it shows "Ready" or "All
- 4:21out," I’ll schedule more important
- 4:24tasks that require deep focus. Actually
- 4:26, this readiness score isn't fixed once
- 4:28calculated in the morning; it updates
- 4:30continuously throughout the day based
- 4:32on your data. For instance, if you
- 4:34finish a high-intensity workout or if
- 4:36your daytime vital signs change, the
- 4:38score may adjust accordingly. However,
- 4:40when you first start using the
- 4:42readiness score, it needs to accumulate
- 4:43several days of health data. So, when
- 4:45you get a new watch, you won't see a
- 4:47score immediately. You need to wear the
- 4:49Apple Watch while sleeping, and once
- 4:50the system establishes your personal
- 4:52baseline, the score will begin to
- 4:54provide a more complete reference. Now.
- 4:59Beyond those advanced health features,
- 5:01the Apple Watch Series 10 has a simple
- 5:03yet very practical new feature: we can
- 5:05finally display step counts directly on
- 5:07the watch face without downloading
- 5:09third-party apps. It also features the
- 5:11new S-series chip, so Apple has
- 5:13improved the accuracy of all-day step
- 5:15tracking. Not only is it more
- 5:17convenient to view, but the tracking
- 5:19itself is also more precise. If you
- 5:21also want to display your steps on your
- 5:23Apple Watch face, I’ll show you how
- 5:24to set it up. First, open your Watch
- 5:26app, go to "My Watch," and tap on the
- 5:29face you want to set up. Remember, you
- 5:31need to choose a watch face that
- 5:33supports complications. Next, tap on
- 5:35the spot where you want to display your
- 5:37steps; for example, I want to show mine
- 5:39at the bottom center. After tapping,
- 5:42find "Activity" and change it to "Daily
- 5:46Steps." Then, just set it as your
- 5:49current watch face. Now, you can track
- 5:52your current steps in real-time right
- 5:55on your watch face, and it's...Next is
- 6:00the battery life. Although the Apple
- 6:02Watch Series 10 still offers up to 24
- 6:04hours of daily battery life, looking at
- 6:06the numbers alone might make it seem
- 6:08like there's no upgrade. However, there
- 6:10is something worth noting here: as
- 6:12mentioned earlier, the background heart
- 6:14rate and HRV measurement frequency for
- 6:16this generation have increased
- 6:18significantly. This means the watch
- 6:20needs to detect and record more health
- 6:22data throughout the day, yet it can
- 6:23still maintain that 24-hour battery
- 6:25life. So, even though the number hasn't
- 6:27changed, maintaining the same 24 hours
- 6:29while sensors are running more
- 6:31frequently actually means its power
- 6:32efficiency has further improved.
- 6:34Additionally, the fast charging speed
- 6:36has also been increased this time. For
- 6:37example, the Apple Watch Series 10 can
- 6:39provide up to 12 hours of use with just
- 6:4115 minutes of charging. Therefore, if
- 6:43you realize you're running low on
- 6:45battery just before heading out or
- 6:47going to bed, a quick charge will do.
- 6:50After looking at the features and new
- 6:52functions added to the Apple Watch
- 6:53Series 10, let me share a few new
- 6:55watchOS 11 features that I think are
- 6:57worth learning. However, I should
- 6:59mention that watchOS 11 currently only
- 7:01supports Apple Watch Series 10 and
- 7:04newer models, as well as Apple Watch SE
- 7:062 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later
- 7:08models, so older Apple Watches won't be
- 7:11able to...Apple adds new watch faces to
- 7:15the Apple Watch every year, and this
- 7:17year is no exception. What I’m using
- 7:19right now is the brand-new "Modular"
- 7:21watch face. Just go into the Face
- 7:24Gallery in the Watch app, and under the
- 7:26latest faces, you can find the "Modular
- 7:28" face. There are a total of three
- 7:31styles for this watch face. The first
- 7:33one features a larger font for the time
- 7:36, with three complications below it.
- 7:38The second one shrinks the time and
- 7:40adds a rectangular Smart Stack widget
- 7:42in the middle, with three complications
- 7:44underneath. The third one features a
- 7:46medium-sized time display, paired with
- 7:49a Smart Stack widget. The Smart Stack
- 7:51widget in the middle is dynamic,
- 7:53meaning it will judge which widget you
- 7:55might want to use based on your current
- 7:57context and display it there. It is
- 7:59actually linked to the Smart Stack
- 8:01suggestions in watchOS 11, which means
- 8:03it displays the first suggested widget
- 8:05from the Smart Stack, so you can check
- 8:07it directly from the watch face without
- 8:09needing to open the widget page. Later,
- 8:12we’ll introduce the Smart Stack
- 8:14suggestions. Plus, regardless of the
- 8:16style you choose, you can customize
- 8:19your favorite watch face colors and
- 8:21select your preferred font. And
- 8:23complications, too—everything can be
- 8:26customized to your liking. One major
- 8:29change you’ll notice after updating
- 8:31to watchOS 10 is that when you press
- 8:34the Digital Crown, it now displays a
- 8:36brand-new app layout. What's shown here
- 8:38is dynamically recommended by the
- 8:40system based on your current context—
- 8:42for example, apps you’ve used
- 8:44recently, or ones the system determines
- 8:46you're likely to need right now. They
- 8:48may appear here so you can open them
- 8:51with a quick tap. However, if the app
- 8:53you want to use doesn’t appear here,
- 8:56we have two methods. The first is to
- 8:58tap the App Library icon below, or
- 9:00simply continue rotating the Digital
- 9:02Crown to enter the full app list—the
- 9:05page you're used to seeing after
- 9:07pressing the Digital Crown. Currently,
- 9:09we cannot pin specific apps here, as
- 9:11these are all automatically recommended
- 9:14and adjusted by the system. This new
- 9:16change might take some getting used to,
- 9:18but now I’ve gotten the hang of it.
- 9:22When you swipe up from the bottom of
- 9:24your Apple Watch face, or rotate the
- 9:26Digital Crown upward. It will open the
- 9:29Smart Stack page, where many widgets
- 9:31are displayed. You can add your most
- 9:33frequently used widgets here for quick
- 9:36access to relevant information. Now,
- 9:38after updating to watchOS 10, Apple has
- 9:40added a new Smart Stack suggestion
- 9:43feature. Simply put, the system
- 9:44automatically displays widgets you
- 9:46might need based on time, location, or
- 9:49your current activity. For instance, on
- 9:51someone’s birthday, it might suggest
- 9:53a birthday greeting, or after you’ve
- 9:55parked and walked away, it might show
- 9:57your parking location for quick
- 9:59navigation. It also displays upcoming
- 10:01calendar events so you know what’s
- 10:03next. You don't need to add these
- 10:05suggestions manually, and you can't
- 10:07force them to appear. They only show up
- 10:09in the Smart Stack when the system
- 10:11determines that the context is relevant
- 10:13. To make it clear which ones are Smart
- 10:15Stack suggestions, I’ll go ahead and
- 10:17remove all the widgets I’ve added
- 10:18myself. I scroll to the very bottom and
- 10:21tap edit. Then I delete everything. You
- 10:24see, my widget area is now completely
- 10:26empty. I'll hit done. What you see now
- 10:29are the smart stack suggestions
- 10:30automatically displayed by the system
- 10:32—basically, the widgets it thinks
- 10:34I’ll use. However, I also recommend
- 10:36checking if the relevant settings are
- 10:38enabled. After opening the Smart Stack
- 10:41interface, scroll to the bottom and tap
- 10:43edit. Then, scroll to the bottom and
- 10:46tap on Widget Suggestions. Make sure to
- 10:49turn on both "Allow Widget Suggestions"
- 10:51and "Smart Stack Suggestions." This way
- 10:54, the system will show you smart stacks
- 10:57at the right time. Apple Watch already
- 11:02supports the double-tap gesture,
- 11:04meaning you can open the Smart Stack
- 11:06and switch widgets without ever
- 11:08touching the screen. With watchOS 11,
- 11:11Apple has introduced a brand new
- 11:13double-tap operation, where you simply
- 11:16tap your index finger and thumb
- 11:18together. This allows you to select and
- 11:20open the current widget directly. So,
- 11:23you can even open the Smart Stack,
- 11:26switch widgets, launch them, and go
- 11:29back using only the hand wearing the
- 11:31Apple Watch. This lets you perform
- 11:34quick actions even if your other hand
- 11:36is busy. If you want to use the gesture
- 11:39I just demonstrated, remember to go
- 11:42into Settings and scroll down. Tap on
- 11:45Gestures. Make sure the gesture is
- 11:48enabled and turn on the double-tap
- 11:51feature so you can use this brand-new
- 11:53...In. In previous versions of watchOS,
- 11:59the "Find" functionality was split into
- 12:01three separate apps: Find Devices, Find
- 12:03People, and Find Items, so you had to
- 12:05find the right app to use it. But now,
- 12:07updated to watchOS 11, Apple has
- 12:10finally integrated all three into a
- 12:12single "Find" app. Once you open "Find,
- 12:14" you can switch between People,
- 12:16Devices, or Items in the top-left
- 12:18corner. It’s much more intuitive.
- 12:21Plus, if you have AirPods Pro 2, you
- 12:24can now use Precision Finding directly
- 12:26via Apple Watch. The watch will show
- 12:29the direction and distance to the
- 12:31charging case, guiding you step-by-step
- 12:33to find it. However, if you are using
- 12:36an Apple Watch SE 2nd generation, it
- 12:38doesn't have the 2nd generation Ultra
- 12:41Wideband chip, so it doesn't support
- 12:43this feature. Pre-Previously, if you
- 12:47needed light in a dark environment, you
- 12:49could turn on the flashlight from the
- 12:51Control Center. When turned on, the
- 12:53flashlight would stay at a lower
- 12:55brightness, and if you wanted it
- 12:56brighter, you would have to rotate the
- 12:58Digital Crown or adjust it manually.
- 13:00But now, we just need to open Settings
- 13:02on the Apple Watch, tap on Control
- 13:04Center, and enable the Maximum
- 13:06Brightness feature. From then on, every
- 13:09time you turn on the flashlight, the
- 13:11screen will immediately jump to maximum
- 13:14brightness, so you won't need to rotate
- 13:16the Digital Crown or wait for it. In
- 13:19watchOS 11, Apple removed two original
- 13:21features: the App Switcher and
- 13:23Walkie-Talkie. First, the Walkie-Talkie
- 13:25feature originally allowed two Apple
- 13:27Watch users to send real-time voice
- 13:29messages to each other; you just held
- 13:30down the talk button on the screen to
- 13:32speak, and the other person would hear
- 13:33it when you released it. However, this
- 13:35feature has now been removed.
- 13:37Additionally, in the past, you could
- 13:39just double-click the Digital Crown to
- 13:41open the App Switcher, allowing you to
- 13:43quickly switch between recently used
- 13:45apps or swipe left to close them. But
- 13:47now, after updating to watchOS 11,
- 13:49whether you press the Digital Crown
- 13:52once or double-click it, it will only
- 13:54open this new app layout screen.
- 13:56Therefore, we can no longer use the App
- 13:58Switcher and cannot manually close apps
- 14:01from there, which I personally find
- 14:03quite inconvenient. However, the Apple
- 14:05Watch automatically manages background
- 14:08app activity, so you usually don't need
- 14:10to close apps specifically. But I've
- 14:12seen users share that after updating to
- 14:15watchOS 11, if an app gets stuck or
- 14:17stops responding and you want to force
- 14:20close it, you can still use a previous
- 14:22method: stay on the app screen and hold
- 14:25down the side button on the bottom
- 14:27right. Once the menu pops up, release
- 14:30the button, then press and hold it
- 14:32again, and you can force close the app
- 14:35that was stuck. That covers our
- 14:37unboxing and usage experience of the
- 14:39Apple Watch Series 10, along with
- 14:40sharing some new features. Finally, we
- 14:42also went over some new features in
- 14:44watchOS 11. I wonder if you bought the
- 14:46Apple Watch Series 10 this time? If so,
- 14:49feel free to share your favorite
- 14:51features with me! Finally, don't forget
- 14:56to follow.
