- 0:08in this video tutorial we will guide you
- 0:11how to install a patchy Cloud stack for
- 0:13the first time although Cloud stack is
- 0:15known for its ease of installation and
- 0:17use it's not always easy first time this
- 0:20video will show you how to do a simple
- 0:22installation the right way fast and easy
- 0:26first let's learn the key terminology
- 0:28used in Apache Cloud stack
- 0:30following this we will guide you through
- 0:32the specific requirements regarding this
- 0:34tutorial subsequently leading you to the
- 0:36detailed installation steps finally
- 0:39we'll quickly demonstrate how to operate
- 0:41Cloud stack when it's up and
- 0:44running Cloud stack has a hierarchy of
- 0:47organizational
- 0:48units at the highest level is the region
- 0:51that represents the largest
- 0:52organizational unit that can Encompass
- 0:54one or more zones zones are often mapped
- 0:58to Data Centers by cloudstack op
- 1:00operators zones are subdivided into
- 1:03smaller units known as pods which often
- 1:05equate to a rack in a data center each
- 1:08pod contains a collection of clusters
- 1:11which are the next level down in the
- 1:13hierarchy within each cluster we find
- 1:16individual hosts which are the
- 1:17fundamental building blocks of the cloud
- 1:19infrastructure in Apache Cloud stack
- 1:22there are two distinct types of storage
- 1:25primary storage is used for the instance
- 1:27volumes and can be associated with a
- 1:29cluster or or a Zone depending the
- 1:31hypervisor support secondary storage
- 1:34which can be of a lower grade or more
- 1:36costeffective is utilized for storing
- 1:38templates ISO images and volume
- 1:40snapshots within each zone for this
- 1:43tutorial we are adhering to the minimum
- 1:45requirements as referred by the official
- 1:48Apache cloudstack documentation these
- 1:50requirements Encompass the
- 1:52specifications for the management server
- 1:54and KVM
- 1:55hosts the designated machine for the
- 1:58management server must fulfill the
- 1:59following criteria Rocky Linux 8 as the
- 2:02operating system with a minimum of two
- 2:05CPU cores 8 GB of
- 2:08memory 500 GB of local dis space at
- 2:12least one network card and a statically
- 2:14allocated IP address are required
- 2:17Additionally the management server needs
- 2:19to have a fully qualified domain name
- 2:21which can be verified through the
- 2:22hostname command for the KVM hosts we
- 2:26recommend the following
- 2:27specifications Rocky Linux 88 equipped
- 2:30with a minimum of eight CPU cores that
- 2:32support hardware virtualization 32 GB of
- 2:35RAM and 150 GB of local dis space a KVM
- 2:40host requires at least two network cards
- 2:42and a statistically allocated IP address
- 2:45along with a fully qualified domain name
- 2:47that can be verified using the host name
- 2:49command additionally consider setting up
- 2:52the native VLAN on the switch for host
- 2:54IP address access as the KVM host
- 2:56network card will be utilized for
- 2:58establishing connections with the guest
- 3:00and public network vlans for the
- 3:02networking setup consider using either a
- 3:05dedicated switch or a shared one
- 3:07ensuring sufficient ports to connect the
- 3:09management server and the KVM host with
- 3:11a minimum availability of 1 gbit per
- 3:13second ports additionally allocate 10
- 3:17dedicated vlans to facilitate the guest
- 3:20networks for the public network allocate
- 3:23at least 10 IP addresses as per RFC 791
- 3:26or 1918 depending on whether you intend
- 3:29to provide public public or internal
- 3:30access to the cloud resources
- 3:32additionally configure one layer 3 VLAN
- 3:35that is routable to either the internet
- 3:37or the office Network these resources
- 3:39will be utilized for source and
- 3:41instances
- 3:43services for the cloudstack management
- 3:45Network Reserve 10 IP addresses in
- 3:48accordance with RFC
- 3:491918 these will be utilized by
- 3:51cloudstack to manage the cloudstack
- 3:53system VMS and to handle the storage
- 3:56traffic with all requirements in place
- 3:59the proposed designed for this tutorial
- 4:01encompasses a topof rack switch a single
- 4:04management server host to act as the
- 4:06cloudstack management server the mySQL
- 4:09database and an NFS server this is a
- 4:12very simple configuration of
- 4:14cloudstack for the KVM hosts you can
- 4:17scale the setup as needed replicating
- 4:19the steps outlined in this tutorial for
- 4:21each additional unit thereby ensuring a
- 4:23flexible and adaptable infrastructure
- 4:26that can evolve with your demands the
- 4:28cloudstack installation process consists
- 4:31of the following steps management server
- 4:34preconfiguration cloudstack installation
- 4:37hypervisor setup with the hardware
- 4:39requirements in place and a foundational
- 4:42understanding of the essential
- 4:43terminology of cloudstack let's get
- 4:46started ensure that DNS entries are
- 4:48established for both the management
- 4:50server and the KVM hosts in the internal
- 4:52DNS server additionally incorporate the
- 4:56public IP addresses for the public
- 4:57network to facilitate name resolution
- 4:59solution for the NFS storage configure
- 5:02it with the default settings exporting
- 5:04the contents of the/ exort directory
- 5:07this directory should contain two
- 5:09additional subdirectories primary and
- 5:12secondary which will be utilized during
- 5:14the Zone creation process for further
- 5:17tuning and optimization please refer to
- 5:19the official cloudstock
- 5:21documentation ensure that the IP address
- 5:23for the management server is statically
- 5:26configured additionally set the SE Linux
- 5:29to permissive mode and ensure that the
- 5:31ntp client is configured properly
- 5:34finally configure the mySQL database in
- 5:36accordance with the official Cloud stock
- 5:41documentation connect via SSH to the
- 5:44cloudstack management
- 5:46host make sure you have already
- 5:48installed the eil release package before
- 5:50proceed then create the cloudstack
- 5:53repository file and install cloudstack
- 5:55management
- 6:03after it's installed run the cloudstack
- 6:05setup databases command it will set up
- 6:07the MySQL and populate the cloud schema
- 6:10to your
- 6:11database in this tutorial setup we have
- 6:13designated Cloud as the database user
- 6:16and password as the corresponding
- 6:18password the deploy as argument is only
- 6:21required when setting up the first
- 6:23management server at this point if
- 6:26you've set root user credentials you'll
- 6:28need to enter them ensuring they match
- 6:30the password you determined during the
- 6:31MySQL configuration process now run the
- 6:35cloudstack setup management command as
- 6:37you can see it has configured the
- 6:39required IP tables rules to allow the
- 6:41necessary
- 6:43ports next enable and start the
- 6:45cloudstack Management Service finally
- 6:48let's take a quick look at the
- 6:50cloudstack logs to ensure that the
- 6:52service is starting and everything looks
- 6:54good now we'll set up the hypervisor
- 6:57cloudstack supports a wide range of Hy
- 6:59supervisors but for this tutorial we'll
- 7:01be using KVM connect to your KVM host
- 7:05and then set the SE Linux to permissive
- 7:07mode and ensure that the ntp client is
- 7:10configured
- 7:11properly also install the network
- 7:13scripts package instead of the standard
- 7:15network manager service for the scope of
- 7:18this tutorial we're using the Linux
- 7:20Bridge system instead of open V switch
- 7:22with
- 7:23KVM it is crucial to adjust from network
- 7:26interface scripts make sure it is
- 7:28properly connected to the bridges cloud
- 7:30br0 and Cloud
- 7:32br1 after these adjustments restart the
- 7:35network
- 7:36service install the Apple repository
- 7:39package to get some of the dependencies
- 7:41that are not natively
- 7:42available then set up the cloudstack
- 7:45repository by creating a new file as
- 7:48follows next proceed to install the
- 7:51cloudstack agent and the virtualization
- 7:53package group along with any other
- 7:55necessary dependencies this step ensures
- 7:58that all essential components are
- 7:59successfully installed with all packages
- 8:02installed disable listen on TLS and
- 8:05enable listen on TCP from the livert
- 8:08Damon after that stop and mask the
- 8:11services that are not needed and restart
- 8:13the livert Damon also enable and start
- 8:16the lib vert D and cloudstack agent
- 8:19Services replicate these steps for each
- 8:21KVM host you wish to include in your
- 8:23Cloud stack
- 8:26infrastructure now with all components
- 8:28set up correctly
- 8:30open a browser and input the management
- 8:32server IP address followed by colon
- 8:3588 client in the address bar once the
- 8:39user interface loads use admin as the
- 8:42username and password as the default
- 8:44password to
- 8:45login navigate to the infrastructure
- 8:48section select zones and then click on
