  1. 0:00I shouldn't be shocked or surprised by
  2. 0:01anti-semitism, but I always am because
  3. 0:05it comes out from people who are, you
  4. 0:07know, you assume that people are
  5. 0:09intelligent. Well, they are intelligent
  6. 0:11and therefore you assume that they that
  7. 0:13they that they would not come out with
  8. 0:15what they come out with, which is this
  9. 0:17barking mad, deranged, paranoid belief
  10. 0:21that the Jews control everything. Um,
  11. 0:23and you hear pe, you know, you see
  12. 0:25people sort of nodding along and
  13. 0:29they must be completely mad because, you
  14. 0:31know, the Jews are the most persecuted
  15. 0:32people on earth. If the Jews were the
  16. 0:35most powerful people on earth, then um,
  17. 0:37you know, they made a pretty poor fist
  18. 0:39of it. Um you know the old joke um two
  19. 0:42men sitting on a park bench reading each
  20. 0:45reading uh the one guy is reading a
  21. 0:47newspaper and uh he is chuckling to
  22. 0:51himself reading the newspaper and the
  23. 0:53other guy two Jews and the other Jew
  24. 0:55says
  25. 0:57what are you reading why why are you
  26. 0:59laughing you're reading such terrible
  27. 1:01things you're reading about you know
  28. 1:03anti-semitism you're reading about the
  29. 1:05attacks on Jews across the world and
  30. 1:08you're laughing
  31. 1:10And the Jews reading the paper says,
  32. 1:13"I'm reading that we control the world."
  33. 1:16>> Yeah. Point taken. And you know, in my
  34. 1:19own country, the Jewish uh component of
  35. 1:23the population would be similarly small
  36. 1:26as it is in Britain. And yet, as many
  37. 1:29people have pointed out, our most famous
  38. 1:30general and probably one of the great
  39. 1:33generals of the First World War because
  40. 1:34he he was not only an effective general,
  41. 1:36but he cared about his troops. He found
  42. 1:38ways to advance the cause with minimum
  43. 1:41bloodshed and that was General Monese
  44. 1:44from Melbourne. Two of our governor
  45. 1:46generals are very good governor generals
  46. 1:48as it happens uh have been Jewish and
  47. 1:51then in a whole range of areas they've
  48. 1:53made a contribution that far outweighs
  49. 1:56uh their numerical numbers and their
  50. 1:59critics for example the two nurses who
  51. 2:02have disgracefully been caught on camera
  52. 2:05uh saying outrageous things. They both
  53. 2:08happen, you know, I'm going to put this
  54. 2:10on the record to be of Muslim background
  55. 2:14indicating that uh, you know, they would
  56. 2:17not care for people who came into the
  57. 2:19health system. And it's a good thing in
  58. 2:21Australia that authorities everywhere in
  59. 2:23the health system have said, right, they
  60. 2:24will never work in the health system.
  61. 2:25>> They said they would not care for they
  62. 2:26would they would kill Israelis who came
  63. 2:28into
  64. 2:28>> they would kill Israelis. Implied even
  65. 2:30that perhaps they might have, which I
  66. 2:32doubt. I hope they haven't. But at least
  67. 2:35there's been a strong reaction. and
  68. 2:36they'll never work again in the health
  69. 2:38system. That's something. But it is
  70. 2:41unbelievable. And I guess my point is
  71. 2:43there's a twofold point to make out of
  72. 2:45that is if you're going to criticize,
  73. 2:48just ask yourself firstly what you've
  74. 2:50done for your country and for your
  75. 2:51community because the Jewish people in
  76. 2:53Australia have done a great deal. In net
  77. 2:55terms, they've made a massive
  78. 2:56contribution. The second point I'd make
  79. 2:58is I know a little bit about power. I've
  80. 3:00been part of it. It's laughable to think
  81. 3:03that Jewish people exercise control
  82. 3:07in the way that is suggested. It's
  83. 3:09absolutely risable. It bears no
  84. 3:13relationship to truth at all.
  85. 3:15>> Well, anti-semitism is a weird thing.
  86. 3:18You know, we can all
  87. 3:19>> You mention maybe perhaps supernatural
  88. 3:20in some ways. It's almost beyond our
  89. 3:22understanding.
  90. 3:23>> Well, exactly. I mean we could all find
  91. 3:25you know all kinds of very plausible and
  92. 3:27entirely entirely I think justifiable uh
  93. 3:30explanations for why it happens in a
  94. 3:32particular way at a particular time for
  95. 3:33particular sorts of people. Those
  96. 3:36reasons are perfectly valid.
  97. 3:38>> Ultimately it's a mystery.
  98. 3:40>> Ultimately it's a mystery. It's the
  99. 3:42longest hatred. It has existed ever
  100. 3:45since the Jewish people began to be a
  101. 3:47Jewish people
  102. 3:48>> and it continues without end. the most
  103. 3:50we can ever expect is that it's put back
  104. 3:52under its stone um so that it's kept to
  105. 3:55a minimum and you know restricted to the
  106. 3:58what are considered to be unacceptable
  107. 4:00fringes of society. That's how I That's
  108. 4:02how it was when I was growing up in in
  109. 4:04Britain. And now it's out from under its
  110. 4:06stone and roaring around uh out of
  111. 4:09control uh a absolute tsunami of it uh
  112. 4:12rolling across the west and having
  113. 4:15infected
  114. 4:16uh countless numbers of people um who
  115. 4:19are uh totally mainstream. You know,
  116. 4:22they they are they are they are
  117. 4:24upstanding citizens. They are they are
  118. 4:26professionals. They're intellectuals in
  119. 4:28the universities in in politics in in
  120. 4:30the law in in in medicine a lot in
  121. 4:33medicine for some reason um and the
  122. 4:36health and health systems um uh the
  123. 4:39official class. I mean across great
  124. 4:42sades of the culture, the artistic
  125. 4:44culture and I'm afraid to say the
  126. 4:45Anglican church. Um and so this is the
  127. 4:48terrible thing that's that that's
  128. 4:49happened.
