0:05>> Um and we've got an interesting episode
0:07today. So last week, Moana Live Action
0:10came out. Uh what do we think of Moana
0:12Live Action?
0:14>> Moana Live Action. I think you guys did
0:17your thing again. A movie came out and
0:20you found any reason to hate it. It's
0:24the first one is a beloved movie by
0:26many. It's got like the most hours of
0:29streaming on Disney Plus in
0:31>> It actually got taken recently.
0:33>> Oh, what? Sorry.
0:34>> I forgot. Anyway, it's got a really high
0:37amount of hours on Disney Plus.
0:40>> Everyone loves it. The live action comes
0:42out and No, no, no. It's terrible. It's
0:45not good.
0:46>> Why?
0:46>> Um well, I had a couple I had a couple
0:49um tweaks I would have made. Um I think
0:53the color on it is a bit offbvious.
0:55Obviously, I know it's live action, so
0:57it's going to be not as bright as the
0:59original, but I think the colors in the
1:01original worked well as the brightness
1:05because the the ocean was a nice
1:08turquoisey blue rather than a matte
1:10blue.
1:11>> It had some scenes of turquoise blue
1:13like started.
1:14>> It had it had a couple, but I would have
1:16liked to see it consistently be
1:18turquoisey blue. Um, obviously
1:22I think another issue I had And it's not
1:25really an issue. I don't really have a
1:26problem with it. I just think it would
1:27have been nicer if it was different. A
1:30lot of the original cast returned. And I
1:33get that it's only 10 years after the
1:34first one came out, but
1:36>> I like that,
1:37>> but I feel like if you're going to make
1:39a remake of a film, you can't just make
1:41the same movie. I know it is the same
1:43movie, but
1:45>> what's the one live action remake that
1:47changed the story?
1:48>> Well, I'm not saying I'm not saying
1:49change the story. I'm saying change the
1:51actors because if you had different
1:52actors it could have given him a bit
1:53difficult.
1:54>> Who could have played Maui better than
1:56Dwayne Johnson?
1:57>> No one.
1:58>> Yeah, it's
1:59>> crush that role. Good job, The Rock.

2:04change that, but I think there there is
2:06ways they could have done it.
2:08>> There's two consistent cast members from
2:11the original to the live action. I
2:13wouldn't have had it any other way. I
2:14would have kept both. The Rock as Maui
2:17is really good. He embodies the role.

2:23>> He doesn't play the rock though.
2:26>> He's got the culture of Maui. It's based
2:28on his grandfather, the character. And
2:30then Tomatoa.
2:32>> He's got that. I like Tomatoa. He's like
2:35my second favorite character. So, I like
2:37that he had the same voice.
2:38>> I like Yeah. And I liked how he spoke
2:40spoke like a grandma as well.
2:42>> They did change it. Instead of him just
2:44talking, he did a for his grandma.
2:48impersonating her grandma. It was quite
2:51funny. Um, obviously it's the same film.
2:55Like realistically, you like the
2:56original, you're going to like this one.
2:58It's not as you should as you should cuz
3:00it's the same film. Um, it's nice to see
3:02them have it real. I like Maui in real
3:07life better than I liked him in the
3:09movie. Seeing the rock act as Maui, I
3:12actually prefer than seeing the rock in
3:14the original. I liked to watch him.
3:17>> I didn't like the
3:19The wig looked really weird.
3:20>> They did what they could.
3:21>> I think I'm just so used to seeing the
3:23rock being bald. I think it's
3:24>> I think I think that's a problem for
3:26everybody. I like the wig. They did it.

3:36actual hair, but it did look like a wig.

3:42didn't have any nipples. I thought that
3:44was really weird. a weird choice.
3:46>> It is a bit of a nic, but it's a bit of
3:48a weird design choice.
3:50>> It's like familyfriendly stuff, I guess.

3:54I don't know. Um,
3:57>> the songs
3:58>> the songs were good. There's a new
3:59original one.
4:00>> What did you think of it along the way?
4:02>> I thought it was quite good to be fair.
4:03I think it was a nice surprise because I
4:05was expecting it to be the same.
4:07>> Lin Manuel Miranda did his thing. That's
4:10why the songs in Moana 2 were slightly
4:12less good.
4:14Lynn did not return, but he's supposed
4:16to for Moana 3, which we'll be watching
4:19also in cinema. Go watch Moana in
4:21cinema. It's good. It's nice to have the
4:23experience.
4:24>> It's a nice Disney experience, I think.
4:26Um, so
4:29I like how they did the songs. Uh,
4:32you're welcome.
4:34Still a banger. I was singing along in
4:36the theater to myself. I hope no one
4:38heard me.
4:40You're welcome for the tides, the sun,
4:43the sky. You know, it's bang. It's such
4:45a good It's a good sign. It's a reason
4:47it's as popular as it is.
4:49>> Plus, I also do that shiny like a
4:52treasure from They actually changed the
4:54line in shiny. Did they change?
4:55>> Yeah, they changed it. Do you not

4:58>> It's like they changed treasure from a
4:59sun pirate wreck to something else
5:03>> which was different but worked. It's the

5:08>> It was a bit less threatening. It did
5:09feel it did feel a bit less surrounding
5:12the first time he was like
5:13>> it felt like that he was actually going
5:16to beat him at points but then obviously
5:19>> maybe it's cuz we know that yeah how it
5:21happens but I liked Tomato I like that
5:24he came back.

5:33>> I think I gave the original a seven. I
5:36think it's slightly is the same movie,
5:38but it's slightly worse.

5:47Maybe even in between 7.5 and eight.
5:50It's one of the best Disney movies ever.

6:04both in the same bracket. It could be

6:08both equally. There are some things in
6:10the original I prefer. There are some
6:11things in live action I prefer. For
6:13example, I prefer seeing the Rock more
6:15in live action. I think he's charming.
6:17He He did do a good job and obviously he
6:20really cares about the character.

6:25forward to seeing him in Moana 3.

6:29Apocalypse in the MCU?
6:30>> I did not hear that. They they
6:33supposedly rumor are considering him for

6:40fair because Apocalypse is in X-Men 87
6:43which I've been watching and I think he
6:45can play it.

6:52about The Rock because this is an
6:53episode that's about him. We'll talk

7:03>> I think I'd like to see what he'd be

7:08like to see him because he hasn't been
7:09in Marvel yet. So,

7:14>> I hope he doesn't do the same thing he
7:17did with Black Adam and hype himself.
7:19>> It wasn't his fault
7:21>> and hype himself up to be the most
7:24powerful person ever. Um,
7:28Black Adam is not the most powerful
7:29person [snorts] in DC.

7:33as long as he understands the character
7:35of Apocalypse, he does his research, I
7:38think he's going to do a good job.
7:39>> Yeah, if you like read a couple crucial
7:40comics,
7:43because Apocalypse is a very complex,
7:45he's like immortal. He shows up in all
7:46these different time periods.

7:55He's such a charming guy.

8:17What are some liveaction adaptations you
8:20have high up and what are some you have
8:22low down?
8:23>> Um, I like Aladdin. Aladdin is one of
8:25the best live
8:26>> Aladdin. I liked Will Smith as the
8:28genie.
8:29>> Will Smith as a genie is generational.
8:31>> I think um I think I preferred Robin
8:34Williams as the genie, but I did also
8:37enjoy Will Smith as the genie as well. I
8:39think they both played it really well
8:40and they both gave it the character a
8:42bit of different pizzazz to him. I think
8:45[snorts] it it didn't feel it felt like
8:47they were the same but different.
8:48They're the same character but they're
8:49different personalities. It's really
8:51it's really interesting. In my humble
8:52opinion, Robin Williams did a great job.
8:55Will Smith I prefer it. For me, it's
8:57more enjoyable to see Will Smith as
9:00Genie.

9:44>> However, I think they hit the nail on
9:46the head with Scar in the Mufasa movie.

9:52know what people's thoughts are for
9:53Mufasa because I see a lot of different
9:58reviews on it, but I really liked
9:59Mufasa. I think it was one of the best
10:00movies of 2024.

10:03>> Aaron Pierre was perfect. Both both
10:07Mufasa and Taco were casted perfectly.
10:10It was a good movie.
10:13Better than Lion King live action
10:15remake. Not better than the original.
10:16>> Not better than the original. It's going
10:18to be really hard to top the original to
10:20be fair.
10:21>> Another one of Disney's best is Disney.

10:36they cut like one thing, but everything

10:47because half training is a pizza movie.
10:50Um but I think two comes out I think. Oh
10:54my problem with hard chain dragon I just
10:56remembered all of the like other than
10:58hiccup
11:01I think other than hiccup the rest of
11:03the kids were miscast terribly.
11:07Snot as a child was my favorite one of
11:10them
11:11miscast. He's supposed to be like a
11:14beefy kid.

11:16>> he was not. They miscast him. So, fish
11:18legs is okay. One of the twins was okay.
11:22One of them was not.

11:27>> interesting choice with Astrid.

11:32a look. It is Norway in the Viking
11:35times. My biggest pet peeve was smarter.

11:41the same Gerald Butler. Gerard Butler.

12:27Bailey maybe she was like a really good
12:29contender. Maybe she actually just was
12:31the best candidate. Rachel Zar was not
12:35by any She didn't even like Snow White.

15:39Jungle Book and there's a Mowgli movie.

15:50that in something else? I'm a bit fuzzy
15:53on the Jungle Book. It's been a really
15:54long time. 2016. It came out 10 years
15:57ago.

16:23>> Aladdin's your favorite. 11's my
16:25favorite.
16:25>> The top one was and it's the bottom.
16:29>> Um yeah, so jungle was pretty good. But
16:33next step, going back to the next steps,
16:35I think
16:37they did leave the trim, didn't they?
16:38That was Disney Plus, wasn't it?

16:46live action being CGI. But yeah, there's
16:48nothing wrong with these live. Some of
16:51them are bad, some of them are better
16:53and the same. It's just nice to have the
16:56option of real and yeah, animation.
17:00>> I think I'm always going to prefer the
17:02animation ones
17:04>> really because I think Disney stories
17:05work better as animation. Maybe have
17:07Stranger Dragon. I think I could see it
17:09being a live action from the start, but
17:12I think
17:12>> they did great with CGI for the dragons.

17:19>> Toothless is great. All right. Who did
17:21you have a favorite dragon?
17:23>> I like probably Toothless to be fair.

17:33to seeing what they do with two.

17:38most emotional DreamWorks movies. So,
17:40let's see if they can keep that

17:49we move on to animation as a whole?

17:55>> what do we have? Disney, Pixar, say
17:59Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Illumination,
18:01and then like the

18:03>> less content ones, which is Sony,
18:06Paramount, Warner Bros., Blue Sky.
18:09>> Not Blue Sky.
18:10>> Not Blue Sky. That's just Disney. Um,
18:14>> do you think that Disney is going to be
18:16able to handle Ice Age 6 like Blue Sky
18:18did?
18:19>> I don't think it's going to be good. I
18:21think obviously we're getting to the
18:23point Ice Age 6. It's actually [snorts]
18:25seven. Technically,
18:26>> the Buck movie doesn't count. The Buck
18:28movie is a let down for everyone.
18:30>> Yeah. Um,
18:31>> as long as they don't have that
18:32animation, it's an improvement.
18:34>> Yeah, that was that was not good. That
18:36was awful.
18:38>> But, um,
18:40I think Disney could be could put a bit
18:42Disney magic in there into the Ice Age,
18:45but I don't think it really needs the
18:46Disney magic.
18:48>> There's a lot of studio swaps coming up
18:49for animation sequels. For example,
18:52Angry Birds as well. Used to be Sony,
18:55now it's Paramount. The animation change
18:57is a bit noticeable for me.
18:59>> Yeah, the trailer because the trailer
19:00came out. Um, I think
19:02>> they could handle it.
19:04>> I think they could handle it. I don't
19:05know how I feel about Mighty Eagle and
19:07Leonard not being in it.
19:09>> I know Leonard's not in it. Is Mighty
19:10Eagle not?
19:12I don't like that
19:13>> they they've lost a few and I feel like
19:16doing Angry Birds
19:18>> without the pigs is a bit [snorts]
19:21>> parenting is the villain.

19:25and I can see the kids thinking Red is
19:28just the biggest loser ever.

19:33>> Red's too happy.
19:36>> Make him miserable angry.

19:43know what would sell me on Angry Birds
19:453? If they I know it's just a meme, but
19:47if Chuck is a villain,

19:51trailer, he's clearly not, but it would
19:53be so funny if Chuck was the villain.
19:56I'm glad that
19:59>> God was it Josh G is coming back as him
20:02as well along with

20:09Angry Birds one is one of the highest
20:11animation. I think it's in the top 20
20:14animated movies of all time. Angry Birds
20:17the first one. The second one I'm a bit
20:18lower on.

20:2230. I like a lot of other films that I
20:24know you don't like.
20:26>> Pixar Glazer. Biggest Pixar Glazer of
20:29all time.
20:29>> They're just good films.

20:33>> Um so Toy Story came out this year. Toy
20:36Story 5.
20:36>> Toy Story 5 did come out. I thought it
20:38was nice.

20:44is my favorite thing, movie franchise
20:47thing ever, undeservingly. I love it.
20:49It's great. [snorts] Um
20:52but uh I think that um Toy Story 5 was a
20:54nice tent to form after Toy Story 4. Um
20:57I think Toy Story 4 lost it a bit with
20:59making Buzz a idiot. And
21:01>> that's funny. That's an improvement. No,
21:04it's not funny cuz Buzz Buzz in the past
21:06has been known to make conscious
21:09leadership decisions that are good.
21:10>> Spanish Buzz.
21:11>> Spanish Buzz is him being brainwashed.
21:14>> It's hilarious.
21:15>> Yeah, but Buzz has the ingenuity to like
21:18make his own decisions.
21:19>> Buzz has some of the best comedy in that
21:21franchise.

21:29labbotomized him.
