- 0:00the Monterey County Sheriff's Office
- 0:01they just finished their update on the
- 0:03rescue of Angela Hernandez as you know
- 0:05she was found at the bottom of a cliff
- 0:07after a car crash more than 200 feet the
- 0:09sheriff's office says it's difficult
- 0:11even for a fit person to handle the
- 0:12rocky shoreline of the area and that's
- 0:14the sound bite you just heard right and
- 0:16we want to talk now with Elise Haase
- 0:18who's been following this story this
- 0:20really miraculous story that we've seen
- 0:22yeah it really is and it caught the
- 0:23attention of the nation hello ken and
- 0:27Jenny the Portland woman went on the
- 0:28road trip and she vanished without a
- 0:30trace leaving so many questions for the
- 0:32investigators and the family but a week
- 0:34after she disappeared it was actually a
- 0:37couple that found her stranded I saw a
- 0:40bumper first and we were like oh there's
- 0:43a bumper that's weird
- 0:44Chad and Chelsea Moore say they were
- 0:46looking for places to fish Friday night
- 0:48near Big Sur when they stumbled upon a
- 0:50wrecked Jeep that crashed off the
- 0:52200-foot cliff above I think that's when
- 0:54I noticed like the car is new it looked
- 0:56like it just landed there I started
- 0:58walking back towards the campground and
- 1:00we decided to go the long way back
- 1:03instead of the way we came
- 1:04the long way led them to 23 year old
- 1:07Angela Hernandez Angela is right there
- 1:09in the rocks just look like hell and
- 1:17Angela was stranded after suffering a
- 1:20concussion numerous broken bones and
- 1:23ribs in a severe sunburn at that point
- 1:25we just kind of like panicked with
- 1:28adrenaline like oh my god you were in
- 1:30that car we just saw and you're alive
- 1:32Angela was moving from Portland to
- 1:34Southern California telling the couple
- 1:36she'd been there for several days
- 1:37Hernandez says she swerved to avoid
- 1:39hitting a rabbit and then crashed off
- 1:41the cliff she describes her days of
- 1:43survival as a blur saying I'd walk up
- 1:46and down the beach looking for new high
- 1:48ground screaming help at the top of my
- 1:50lungs and collecting water falling from
- 1:52the top of the cliffs in her statement
- 1:54she went on to say she knew if only one
- 1:56person could hear or see her that's all
- 1:58it would take to make it back home she's
- 2:01now recovering in the hospital happy to
- 2:03be reunited with family and grateful to
- 2:05her rescuers saying I've met the most
- 2:07beautiful human beings that I think I'll
- 2:09ever meet in my entire life I've
- 2:11experienced something so
- 2:12unique and terrifying to me that I can't
- 2:14imagine that there isn't a bigger
- 2:16purpose for me in this life despite all
- 2:19of the suffering she's endured this past
- 2:21week Angela says life is incredible and
- 2:27for a closer look at the timeline of the
