- 0:48angela hernandez
- 0:49who was rescued back in 2011 after a
- 0:52tragic fall at an oceanside cliff
- 0:54in bakesfire california
- 1:02on that fateful day angela hernandez was
- 1:05traveling from oregon to lancaster
- 1:06southern california
- 1:08to visit her family her trip began on
- 1:10july 5th
- 1:112011. by 10 pm that night angela sent
- 1:14the text to her family informing them
- 1:16that she had decided to take a nap in
- 1:18her car
- 1:18at the parking lot of a grocery store
- 1:20somewhere in the half moon bay
- 1:22san mateo county
- 1:26by 8 am and the next morning angela
- 1:28notified her family that she had resumed
- 1:30her driving down to southern california
- 1:32and that was the last her family heard
- 1:34from her when she stopped communicating
- 1:36with her family
- 1:37they contacted law enforcement and
- 1:39notified them of a possible missing
- 1:41person incident
- 1:42angela was a frequent social media user
- 1:44and the fact that she had gone dark on
- 1:46social media
- 1:47and had not contacted her family was
- 1:49indeed worrisome
- 1:50her family had no clue about what had
- 1:52happened if only they
- 1:54knew how close they had come to closing
- 1:55angela hernandez that day
- 1:58for angela her trip home to reunite with
- 2:00her family took a deadly turn
- 2:02when like a scene out of a horror movie
- 2:04a small animal stepped onto the road
- 2:06in an attempt to swerve her jeep patriot
- 2:08away from the animal
- 2:09angela inespecially lost control of her
- 2:12vehicle
- 2:13in a matter of seconds angela and her
- 2:15car plunged 250 feet down the cliff
- 2:18angela says she doesn't remember much of
- 2:20the fall all she remembers is that when
- 2:22she woke up
- 2:23she was still in the car and water from
- 2:25the ocean had reached her knees
- 2:27angela soon realized the precarious
- 2:29situation she found herself in
- 2:31and as she became more conscious of the
- 2:33situation she began to feel the pain all
- 2:35over her body
- 2:36and angela's words quote every bone in
- 2:39my body hurt
- 2:41and quote at that point angela knew she
- 2:44was hanging somewhere between life and
- 2:46death
- 2:46and that death was more likely outcome
- 2:48if she did not get out of the car
- 2:50immediately
- 2:51unfortunately every window in the car
- 2:53was closed the power of the car was off
- 2:55so angela was left with no other option
- 2:58than to summon some energy to break the
- 2:59window on the driver's side
- 3:01thankfully it worked and she was able to
- 3:04crawl out of the window
- 3:05onto the dry land
- 3:08at that point all she could think about
- 3:10was her sister
- 3:12angela began to scream her name as she
- 3:14entered panic mode
- 3:15her cry for help was futile though she
- 3:17was 250 feet away from any sort of help
- 3:20no one would hear her even if she
- 3:22screamed at the top of her lungs
- 3:24if she even had enough energy to raise
- 3:26her voice at all
- 3:27when she realized there was no one
- 3:29coming for her angela fell asleep
- 3:31her body needed some sort of rest at
- 3:33that time and just decided to shut down
- 3:36by the time angela woke up it was still
- 3:38daylight but now
- 3:39she could think more clearly and it was
- 3:41only then that she fully came to terms
- 3:43with what had just happened
- 3:44she managed to stand up despite the
- 3:46excruciating pain in her shoulders
- 3:48back thighs and hips then she saw the
- 3:52records of her car with the roof of the
- 3:53car
- 3:54completely ripped off the fact that she
- 3:56was just standing there
- 3:57alive was nothing short of a miracle but
- 4:00this was just the start of the miracle
- 4:02surviving the crash was one thing
- 4:04staying alive till she was rescued was
- 4:06another
- 4:07especially in the physical condition
- 4:08that the wreck left her in
- 4:10somehow angela made it through for the
- 4:12next seven days was she described as a
- 4:15blur
- 4:15she entered survival mode she found a
- 4:17high spot in the rocks where she climbed
- 4:19every day
- 4:20hoping to catch the attention of people
- 4:21driving across the cliff
- 4:23angela's only hope was to yell as loudly
- 4:25as she could to draw attention to
- 4:27herself
- 4:28it was the only way she could imagine
- 4:30surviving her ordeal
- 4:32three days into her accident angela
- 4:34began to feel the effects of the absence
- 4:36of food
- 4:37she was starving and was massively
- 4:39dehydrated
- 4:40ingenuously she managed to retrieve a
- 4:4210-inch radiator hose
- 4:44from the wreckage of her car this was
- 4:46her saving race
- 4:47with this hose she tapped some of the
- 4:49fresh water dripping down the cliff
- 4:51from the natural spring as the days went
- 4:54by angela devoted all her efforts to
- 4:56find new high grounds
- 4:57where she could get to and cry for help
- 4:59at the top of her voice
- 5:01she did this while battling the rising
- 5:02tides of the ocean's waves every night
- 5:05what kept angela going was hope hoped
- 5:07that she will make it out alive and see
- 5:09her family again
- 5:10she would daydream of the awesome foods
- 5:12she get to eat once she was found
- 5:14she would replay old songs in her head
- 5:16to entertain herself and forget about
- 5:17her situation at the time
- 5:19and hope did not fail angela one morning
- 5:22angela woke up on one of her newly found
- 5:24high spots and just across the shore
- 5:26she could see a woman walking angela
- 5:29screamed for help louder than she ever
- 5:31had
- 5:31all the days before then she noticed the
- 5:33woman was with a man as well
- 5:35to angela it felt like a dream the two
- 5:38campers chelsea and chad moore
- 5:40were only taking a walk on the beach
- 5:41when they spotted angela's wrecked
- 5:43vehicle
- 5:44on meeting angela the couple acted
- 5:46quickly as chad stayed back
- 5:47to give angela some fresh water while
- 5:49chelsea ran to the campground to call
- 5:51for help
