Amazon KDP Full Step-By-Step Course For Beginners (2026) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00In this video, I'm going to teach you
- 0:01absolutely everything you need to know
- 0:03to make your first $1,000 selling books
- 0:06on Amazon without being an author. I'll
- 0:08walk you through the entire Amazon KDP
- 0:10process step by step from how this
- 0:12business model actually works to
- 0:14researching what books to make to
- 0:15actually making these books to uploading
- 0:17them to Amazon itself, how to get
- 0:19reviews on your books, how to properly
- 0:21market them. So, even if you're a
- 0:22complete beginner, by the end of this
- 0:24video, you'll have absolutely everything
- 0:26you need to start building a successful
- 0:28Amazon KDP business in 2026 and beyond.
- 0:31Now, I've personally been
- 0:32self-publishing these books on Amazon
- 0:33KDP for over 5 years now. Started out as
- 0:36a complete beginner just like you
- 0:38watching this video, and I've made
- 0:39hundreds of thousands of dollars from
- 0:41this business model. And I know what
- 0:42you're thinking. Here's just another
- 0:44person who's talking about how much
- 0:45money he's made online. He's not only
- 0:47probably lying, but he's also not being
- 0:49able to relate at all to my situation as
- 0:51a beginner anyway. Well, firstly, I'm
- 0:53not lying. And in this video, you will
- 0:55see complete proof of all of that. And
- 0:56secondly, I understand that for a lot of
- 0:58people, it's not about going straight
- 1:00into all of these things that involve in
- 1:01making $100,000 from a business model
- 1:04like this, because that can be extremely
- 1:06overwhelming, especially if you're a
- 1:08beginner. What you want instead is just
- 1:09to know how to go from zero to that
- 1:11first $1,000 mark. Because once you've
- 1:14made your first $1,000, the second
- 1:16becomes even easier. The next 10,000
- 1:17becomes easier. And then eventually the
- 1:19100,000 becomes even easier than that.
- 1:21Making that first thousand because you
- 1:23just repeat the same steps that you're
- 1:25already familiar with at scale. So yes,
- 1:27this video has been designed to make
- 1:28that journey from zero to your first
- 1:30$1,000 self-publishing books on Amazon
- 1:33KDP as simple and easy to understand as
- 1:36possible. And if you do have any
- 1:37questions at any point, you can just let
- 1:38me know down in the comment section
- 1:40below and I will answer every single one
- 1:42of them. I've also put chapters of this
- 1:43entire video down below. So, if you want
- 1:45to skip through and find the parts that
- 1:46you're interested in and you
- 1:47specifically need a bit more help with,
- 1:49then you can also do that extremely
- 1:51easily. So, with all that said, let's
- 1:52jump straight in with the first section
- 1:54of this video. Now, before we do any of
- 1:55this, the first thing you need to do is
- 1:57to go ahead and create your Amazon KDP
- 1:59account. Now, I can't actually show you
- 2:00this because I already have one and
- 2:02you're only allowed one Amazon KDP
- 2:04account per person. So, I can't walk you
- 2:06through on screen, but what I have done
- 2:07is created a document that I'll leave
- 2:09link down below in the description. As
- 2:11you can see on screen here, it just
- 2:12walks you through absolutely everything
- 2:14that you need to do to actually create
- 2:15your Amazon KDP account. It's pretty
- 2:17straightforward, but a couple of people
- 2:19have some issues with it. Um, they find
- 2:21it a little bit confusing, but if you
- 2:22check out that link down below in the
- 2:23description, um, it will walk you
- 2:25through absolutely everything that you
- 2:26need to do to create your KDP account.
- 2:29So, for the first part of this video,
- 2:30I'm just going to go through some
- 2:31foundational stuff, explain a little bit
- 2:33more about me and my experience, exactly
- 2:34what the Amazon KDP business model is,
- 2:37and how you can get the most out of it.
- 2:38This is actually really, really
- 2:39important. You might be tempted to skip
- 2:41this bit. Please watch this because it's
- 2:43going to set the foundation for the rest
- 2:44of the entire video and ultimately your
- 2:46Amazon KDP business. So, how to start
- 2:48Amazon KDP in 2026 and beyond and
- 2:51actually be successful with it. So,
- 2:53firstly, why should you listen to me? I
- 2:55mentioned it earlier in the intro, but
- 2:56I've built two successful Amazon KDP
- 2:58businesses, generating over $300,000 in
- 3:02book royalties and $900,000 in book
- 3:05sales. And this ultimately allowed me to
- 3:07quit my job and I moved to Bali in 2022
- 3:09and I've now complete location freedom
- 3:11and can work from wherever I want to in
- 3:13the world whenever I want to. Which for
- 3:14me was a complete dream when I first
- 3:16started Amazon KDP and uploaded my first
- 3:18ever book. So I just want to show you
- 3:20this is not me flexing. This is me just
- 3:22showing you how possible this is. I'm
- 3:23nothing special. I'm exactly like you
- 3:25are. I just did exactly what I'm going
- 3:27to show you in this video. Worked hard
- 3:28and it has all paid off for me and
- 3:30there's no reason why it can't do the
- 3:32same for you. And just some proof of the
- 3:34money that I'm talking about that I have
- 3:35actually made here. Just some
- 3:36screenshots from my Amazon KDP account.
- 3:38As you can see, on my first ever Amazon
- 3:40KDP account, made over £129,000
- 3:43worth of royalties. That included making
- 3:45over £32,000
- 3:47from a single book. I then wanted to
- 3:49prove that this wasn't just luck and I
- 3:50could do it again completely from
- 3:52scratch. So, I took a brand new Amazon
- 3:53KDB account from $0 to $24,000 in
- 3:57royalties in just 9 months. Again,
- 4:00within that, I made £85,000 from just
- 4:02two books in their first three months.
- 4:04And I also made just under £11,000 worth
- 4:07of royalties in 13 days. So, yeah, I
- 4:10have actually been there and done it.
- 4:11I'm not one of these people who makes
- 4:12their living selling courses and
- 4:14teaching people how to do something they
- 4:15haven't actually done. I've been there,
- 4:17done it. I've got the royalties to prove
- 4:18it. And that's why I'm in a position to
- 4:20be able to teach you something like this
- 4:22that you're about to see in this video.
- 4:23And for just some extremely recent and
- 4:25even more proof, this is my actual
- 4:27Amazon KDP dashboard. As you can see,
- 4:28last month was December. December the
- 4:301st to December the 31st, 2025. At the
- 4:33time of recording, I made $18,78949.
- 4:39I'm not faking this. This isn't a
- 4:40screenshot. This is my actual dashboard.
- 4:42As you can see, things can change. I can
- 4:44change all of this information here.
- 4:45This is actually my dashboard. I made
- 4:48over $18,000 from Amazon KDP last month.
- 4:51Now, for some people watching this, this
- 4:52will be the goal. Something like $18,000
- 4:55in a month from KDP. Some people might
- 4:56just want an extra $1,000, couple
- 4:58hundred. Everyone has completely
- 5:00different goals. So, don't feel like you
- 5:02have to be someone, you know, that's
- 5:03hitting numbers like this. And
- 5:04ultimately, if you do want to be someone
- 5:06who's hitting, you know, five figure
- 5:07months like this, you first have to
- 5:09understand that before you can get to
- 5:11anything like $18,000 in a month, you
- 5:13first need to understand how to make
- 5:15your first $,000. Because once you
- 5:17understand that, and as I said in the
- 5:19intro, that's the hardest milestone to
- 5:21hit. Once you hit that, it's just a case
- 5:23of repeating and scaling the same
- 5:25systems over again until you get to a
- 5:27point like this. And that first thousand
- 5:29mark on how to hit that is exactly what
- 5:31I'm going to show you in this entire
- 5:33video. Now, moving on to the next part
- 5:34of this intro video. This is going to be
- 5:36mainly for people who are completely new
- 5:37to Amazon KDP. So, if you have had a
- 5:40little bit of experience, just look at
- 5:41this time bar below. You can kind of
- 5:42skip ahead a couple of minutes if you
- 5:44want to go through this, but I do
- 5:45recommend everyone goes through it
- 5:46because it is a really good refresher.
- 5:48I'm going to tell you exactly what
- 5:49Amazon KDP is and how it works as a
- 5:52business model. So, what is Amazon KDP?
- 5:54Amazon KDP just stands for Kindle Direct
- 5:56Publishing and is Amazon's very own
- 5:58self-publishing platform that allows
- 6:00anyone in the world to create and sell
- 6:03books on Amazon. Now, we are selling
- 6:05physical books. So, actual books you can
- 6:08physically hold, but because it's what
- 6:09we call a print ondemand business model,
- 6:11we only ever create online versions of
- 6:14these books. Now, here's exactly how
- 6:16that works. If you're a little bit
- 6:17confused, as I say, we're going to be
- 6:19producing digital versions of physical
- 6:21books that actually get printed on
- 6:23demand. So, print on demand basically
- 6:24means as soon as someone makes an order,
- 6:27at that point, Amazon will physically
- 6:29print it and send it out to the
- 6:30customer. And here's a step by step of
- 6:32exactly how that works. So, step one,
- 6:34you make a book interior file and a book
- 6:36cover file. These are basically just two
- 6:38PDF files. You then go ahead and upload
- 6:40those to Amazon. You choose your price,
- 6:42you put your title. I'll cover all of
- 6:44this in significant detail in this
- 6:45video. I'm just giving you a quick run
- 6:47through of the entire process. So, you
- 6:49make two PDF files. You then upload them
- 6:51to Amazon through Amazon's own portal
- 6:53that will get listed on Amazon just like
- 6:55any other listing. You'll have Prime
- 6:56Delivery, all of that kind of stuff. So,
- 6:58you're just uploading the PDF versions
- 7:00that will eventually get printed and
- 7:02sold to a customer. So, when someone
- 7:04buys your book on Amazon, at that point,
- 7:06Amazon will then print it. They'll ship
- 7:08it to the customer, and then you'll just
- 7:10take between a 50 and 60% cut of the
- 7:12sale price minus printing cost. So it
- 7:14works out to be a 30 to 40% margin. So
- 7:18if you sell a book for, let's just say
- 7:19$10, you'll make roughly $3 to $4 on
- 7:22that book. So it's pretty good royalty
- 7:24and margin considering you don't
- 7:26actually do anything beyond uploading
- 7:27the book. Amazon deals with all the
- 7:29printing. You have no overheads, um, no
- 7:31logistics to have to worry about. So
- 7:33there's so many big benefits of having
- 7:35an Amazon KDP business. Now, here are
- 7:37the three main big benefits of it.
- 7:39Firstly, as I just mentioned, you never
- 7:41actually touch a book. Amazon does
- 7:43absolutely everything for you. So, we
- 7:45are making physical books, but Amazon
- 7:47are the only ones who are actually
- 7:48printing it and dealing with all the
- 7:49shipping to the customer. You literally
- 7:51upload it, sit back, and then just get
- 7:52paid every single time someone buys your
- 7:54book. And because of that, you hardly
- 7:56need any money to get started with
- 7:58Amazon KDP. You haven't got to invest
- 8:00thousands into inventory or stock,
- 8:02thousands into like keeping it in a
- 8:03warehouse. Everything is done within
- 8:05Amazon. They take the hit and you just
- 8:07take this royalty of the book sale. And
- 8:10this ultimately means that you can
- 8:11operate your Amazon KDP business from
- 8:13literally anywhere in the world. You
- 8:15only need two things, a laptop and a
- 8:17Wi-Fi connection. So, it is complete
- 8:18freedom. And in my opinion, I hate the
- 8:20word passive income, but this is pretty
- 8:22much as close as you're ever going to
- 8:24get to a passive income business model
- 8:26because once your books are live,
- 8:27they're live forever. They're constantly
- 8:29selling. And even if you forget about
- 8:30them, people are still going to be
- 8:32buying them. Amazon going to be printing
- 8:33them, sending them off, and you're just
- 8:35cashing in every single month. So that's
- 8:37why Amazon KDP in my opinion is the best
- 8:39business model that you can start and
- 8:41I'm surprised that so many people
- 8:43haven't really got onto this before. Now
- 8:44here's just an example of an Amazon KDP
- 8:46book. This isn't one of my books, but
- 8:48this is a really good example of what it
- 8:50looks like. So you upload a book to
- 8:51Amazon KDP. All they would have done is
- 8:53uploaded this um cover file, which would
- 8:55be just a PDF. And then the interior of
- 8:57the book is just loads of pages like
- 8:58this. So it's just a simple coloring
- 9:00book. It's called stress relief adult
- 9:02coloring book with animals, landscape,
- 9:03flowers, patterns, mushroom, and many
- 9:05more for relaxation. It appears just
- 9:07like any other Amazon product listing.
- 9:10As you see, it has the prize, has the
- 9:11title, has a description, has the
- 9:12images, and this is what an Amazon KDP
- 9:15book looks like. And just to show you
- 9:16how much you can make, this book is
- 9:18actually making over $20,000
- 9:20every single month. They're making about
- 9:22$2 royalty per book sale, but because it
- 9:25is selling extremely well, they're
- 9:27selling something like 10,000 units of
- 9:29this book every single month. and
- 9:30therefore making $20,000 a month. They
- 9:33uploaded it in June 2023, haven't done
- 9:36anything since, and it's just constantly
- 9:38paying them every single month. So, not
- 9:40every single book, of course, will make
- 9:41this amount of money. This is a massive
- 9:43outlier, but I'm just showing you what
- 9:45is potentially possible with Amazon KDP
- 9:47if you really put your mind to it. Even
- 9:49if you upload a book and it just makes
- 9:51you $500 a month, 10 of those is $5,000
- 9:54in passive income every single month.
- 9:56You got to think about this as stacking
- 9:58books on top of each other. And every
- 10:00now and then you will get a really high
- 10:02performing outlier. Maybe not quite as
- 10:04good as this one. Maybe you will. But
- 10:05this is just an example of showing you
- 10:07what is possible with Amazon KDP. And
- 10:09this does actually work. And I really
- 10:11want to stress home this important point
- 10:12of you do not need to be an author to be
- 10:15successful on Amazon KDP. All you need
- 10:17is a system for finding what books
- 10:19people are actually demanding and then
- 10:21just create the best version of that
- 10:23book that meets that demand. So even
- 10:25though we are selling books, you don't
- 10:26need to have any interest in books. You
- 10:28don't need to be an author. You just
- 10:30need to find what people are actually
- 10:32searching for or what they're demanding
- 10:33and then just create the best possible
- 10:35product that meets that demand using
- 10:37tools and a step-by-step process which
- 10:40I'm going to show you in this video. So,
- 10:41as I say, you need to have a system to
- 10:43follow with Amazon KDP. And in this
- 10:45video, I'm going to take through every
- 10:46single step of that system in
- 10:48significant detail so you know exactly
- 10:50what to do. But before I do that, in
- 10:51this kind of foundational intro to the
- 10:53video, I'm going to go through this
- 10:55system very quickly and just show you
- 10:56roughly what you can expect from the
- 10:58upcoming video. So, this is my winning
- 11:00Amazon KDP system, and it's the system I
- 11:03use to build my Amazon KDP businesses.
- 11:05So, step one is what we call niche
- 11:07research. It's basically essentially
- 11:08researching on Amazon and using tools to
- 11:11identify where potential opportunities
- 11:13are. Step two then is all about creating
- 11:15the book. So, a lot of people will just
- 11:17jump in and think, okay, the first thing
- 11:18you need to do obviously is create a
- 11:20book if you want to sell one. But
- 11:21actually, before you even create the
- 11:23book, you need to do some research to
- 11:25know that the book you're creating,
- 11:26people are actually going to buy. So,
- 11:28step one is that research. Step two is
- 11:31therefore creating that book. And I'm
- 11:33going to show you how to use tools to
- 11:34create pretty much whatever kind of book
- 11:36best serves the opportunity that you
- 11:38found in the research. Step three is
- 11:40then all about optimizing your book
- 11:42listing. So uploading your book to
- 11:43Amazon, getting the right title, the
- 11:45good description, all those kind of
- 11:46things for your listing. Step four, you
- 11:49then need to get reviews on your book.
- 11:50This essentially provides social proof
- 11:52for your product and hugely increases
- 11:54sales. Humans buying behavior is
- 11:56extremely driven by social proof. If you
- 11:57have a book and you don't have any
- 11:59reviews on there, it's going to be quite
- 12:01difficult to get people or to convince
- 12:03people to buy yours. So, it's really
- 12:04important that you get a decent number
- 12:06of reviews on your book because
- 12:08ultimately that will massively increase
- 12:10the conversion rate and the number of
- 12:11people who are going to buy it. And I'm
- 12:13going to show you in this video how to
- 12:14get reviews in your book without people
- 12:16even buying it completely legitimately
- 12:18and within Amazon's terms and
- 12:19conditions. Step five then once you've
- 12:21got your reviews and your book is
- 12:22uploaded. It's all about advertising
- 12:24your book and just getting your book in
- 12:25front of many of the right people as
- 12:28possible. Emphasis on right people. It's
- 12:30not about just putting it out there and
- 12:32getting load of people who aren't going
- 12:33to be interested to see your book
- 12:34because that will cost you. But you can
- 12:36use Amazon ads strategically to just get
- 12:38your book in front of the right people
- 12:40who you think are more likely to buy
- 12:42your book than anybody else. And you can
- 12:43do exactly that by using Amazon ads,
- 12:46which I will show you later on this
- 12:47video. And then step six is simple as
- 12:49that. Just make money and repeat the
- 12:51same process over and over again for
- 12:53every single book. And you will build up
- 12:55loads of books that are generating you
- 12:56passive income every month. And that's
- 12:58how you start scaling, you know, to your
- 13:00first thousand and beyond. So, it's this
- 13:03exact system that I'm going to cover in
- 13:05significant detail in this video. So,
- 13:07let's just jump straight into the first
- 13:09step, which is niche research. So, step
- 13:11one, niche research. Essentially, how
- 13:13can you make sure you're researching
- 13:14correctly to ensure you're only creating
- 13:17books that people are actually going to
- 13:19buy? Now, this is the big mistake that
- 13:20most people make. By far the biggest
- 13:23mistake most people make on Amazon KDP
- 13:25is just producing books that they think
- 13:27are going to sell well. For example,
- 13:29they'll have some great idea for a
- 13:31coloring book, make it, and then wonder
- 13:33why it's not making any sales because
- 13:35they haven't. And the reason why they
- 13:36haven't made any of those sales is
- 13:38because they haven't validated their
- 13:40great idea using data from Amazon. You
- 13:43have to remember, you're not selling to
- 13:45yourself. You're selling to people on
- 13:47Amazon. It doesn't really matter if you
- 13:49think it's a good book or you think it's
- 13:51a bad book. It's all about what
- 13:53potential customers think because these
- 13:55are the ones who are going to be buying
- 13:56your book, not you. Now, this might seem
- 13:58like a really simple and obvious thing,
- 14:00but you'll be surprised how many people
- 14:02completely ignore the step. Can't remove
- 14:04their ego from the situation and just
- 14:06create books that they think are great.
- 14:07And they come to people like me and say,
- 14:09"My book's amazing, but it's not making
- 14:10any sales. Why is this?" And I just say,
- 14:12"Well, because it's not amazing. You
- 14:14think it's amazing, but you haven't
- 14:15validated it by using any data.
- 14:17Everything you do with this business
- 14:19model needs to be data driven. I'm going
- 14:21to show you exactly how to do that in
- 14:22just a second. So, here's exactly what
- 14:24you need to do instead. Now, the best
- 14:26KDP publishers, like I say, don't even
- 14:28think about creating a book until they
- 14:31know for sure that people are going to
- 14:33buy it. What's the point in spending all
- 14:34this time creating a book if you don't
- 14:36even know if people are going to buy it
- 14:38in the first place? So rather than just
- 14:39creating a book and then figuring out
- 14:41who to sell it to, you need to take a
- 14:43step back and you need to find what
- 14:44books people are actually demanding and
- 14:46searching for and then make sure there
- 14:48isn't already too much competition for
- 14:49that I read. And this is where my
- 14:51three-step niche research process comes
- 14:53in. So my three-step niche research
- 14:56process, firstly, you need to find out
- 14:57if people are actually demanding your
- 14:59book. You then need to see if these
- 15:01books are actually selling. So it's all
- 15:03well and good seeing if people are
- 15:04searching into Amazon, but are these
- 15:06books actually selling? Are people
- 15:07actually parting with their money and
- 15:09buying these books? Cuz if they're not,
- 15:11again, there's no point in making it.
- 15:13And then finally, you need to understand
- 15:14how to create the book using tools. Now,
- 15:16you might be interested in thinking
- 15:18here, well, there's nothing here that
- 15:20has anything to do with competition.
- 15:21Now, again, a lot of people will say you
- 15:23need to balance out demand and
- 15:25competition. And we are doing that.
- 15:26That's all about whether these books are
- 15:28selling. It's not a case of, you know,
- 15:30there needs to be less than three books
- 15:31in a niche or less than two books, then
- 15:33it's therefore a good opportunity. It
- 15:35really doesn't work like that because
- 15:36demand and competition are kind of
- 15:38relative to each other. If there is
- 15:40significant demand, you can get away
- 15:41with there being a little bit more
- 15:43competition because the demand is just
- 15:44so big. So, a lot of people say things
- 15:46like, you know, if there's three books
- 15:48in a niche, then it's too competitive or
- 15:50whatnot. That's just complete nonsense.
- 15:53Ultimately, if the books in that niche
- 15:55are selling, then it shows that there is
- 15:57enough demand relative to the
- 15:58competition already on Amazon. And I'll
- 16:00cover these three things in detail
- 16:02starting with the first one which is
- 16:04finding out if people are actually
- 16:05demanding your book. So as you can see
- 16:07I'm now over on Amazon because this is
- 16:09the first step to take when it comes to
- 16:10finding potential opportunities and
- 16:12potential books to make. Now in order to
- 16:14come up with a potential idea that you
- 16:16have to validate with data. You first
- 16:18need to start extremely broad. So all
- 16:20I've done is gone on to amazon.com and
- 16:22just typed in coloring book. As you can
- 16:23see there are over 70,000 results. So
- 16:25this is an extremely broad term. You
- 16:28don't want to just be creating a
- 16:29coloring book and then expecting it to
- 16:30sell. You need to you need to be
- 16:32creating some kind of coloring book or
- 16:34as we would say in KDP some kind of
- 16:36coloring book niche. So for example a
- 16:39self-love coloring book. Self-love is a
- 16:41niche of coloring book on Amazon KDP.
- 16:44Girl moment. So girl coloring book is
- 16:46another niche of Amazon KDP. So just
- 16:48have a look around and look for
- 16:50potential things that you know you might
- 16:51want to look into a little bit more.
- 16:53Ocean coloring book could be an example
- 16:55here. Now, these are all um a lot of
- 16:57them very similar looking. A pattern
- 16:59coloring book. So, again, that's another
- 17:01niche within it. Simple art, bold and
- 17:04easy, cozy coloring book, food and
- 17:05drinks coloring book. So, let's just
- 17:07take this as the example. Food, drinks,
- 17:09and sweets. Uh bold and easy coloring
- 17:11book. This book is actually, as you can
- 17:12see, it's got a bestseller badge. So,
- 17:13it's actually selling quite well. We're
- 17:15not worried about validating how well
- 17:17books are selling yet. We are just
- 17:18looking for potential ideas to look into
- 17:21a bit further because as I said, this
- 17:23first step is just about finding if
- 17:25people are actually demanding your book.
- 17:28So, let's go down this potential avenue
- 17:30of food, drinks, and sweets as an
- 17:32option. So, we're just going to go back
- 17:33into Amazon here and we're just going to
- 17:34type in food coloring book. And as you
- 17:36can see, this is kind of the first step
- 17:38to take. If you type in food coloring
- 17:40book into Amazon and have it on all, as
- 17:42you can see, there are loads of
- 17:44suggested, you know, search terms off
- 17:45the back of this. Now these are all
- 17:47search terms that people are searching
- 17:49into Amazon. Amazon know that a lot of
- 17:51people are searching for these search
- 17:53terms and therefore it's going to put
- 17:54them as recommendations. So by typing in
- 17:57food coloring book you can see how many
- 17:59variations of it for adults for kids
- 18:01bold and easy simple toddler for teens
- 18:04bold easy. So people are definitely
- 18:07demanding food related coloring books
- 18:09because they're searching them into
- 18:11Amazon. Now this is all well and good
- 18:12but unfortunately we don't know how many
- 18:14people are searching in. to you know 10
- 18:16people might have searched in food
- 18:18coloring book simple which is by no
- 18:19means enough demand to actually go ahead
- 18:21and create a book like this. So although
- 18:23we are getting you know potential
- 18:24options and proof that people are
- 18:26searching around this idea of a food
- 18:28coloring book we have absolutely no idea
- 18:31how many people are actually searching
- 18:32for it and if it's even a good
- 18:34opportunity or not. But that is where
- 18:36this brilliant and beginnerfriendly tool
- 18:38comes in. It's a tool called
- 18:39self-publishing titans. But we'll leave
- 18:41this link down below in the description.
- 18:42And what it basically allows you to do
- 18:44is enter in any kind of keyword search.
- 18:46We're going to go for food coloring book
- 18:48as you can see here. Make sure it's on
- 18:50Amazon.com. Then go ahead and press
- 18:52search. And what this is basically going
- 18:53to do is going to take all of these, you
- 18:55know, uh, suggestions that Amazon
- 18:57showed, but we don't have any data. We
- 18:59don't know whether or not 10 people are
- 19:00searching for this or 10,000 people.
- 19:03We've just got suggestions. We have
- 19:04absolutely no data behind any of this.
- 19:06But if you go to self-publishing titans,
- 19:08all of this data suddenly becomes
- 19:10available. It's an absolutely essential
- 19:12tool because as I say, it gives you all
- 19:14of this data that we need. So you can
- 19:16see all of these suggestions. Food
- 19:17coloring book, food coloring book for
- 19:19adults, food coloring book for kids,
- 19:21food coloring book bold and easy. It
- 19:23essentially gives you different metrics.
- 19:24So I work through each of these one by
- 19:26one. Firstly, it gives you the search
- 19:28volume. So how many searches are roughly
- 19:30taking place for this search term every
- 19:32single month? So every month 22,125
- 19:36people are searching for food coloring
- 19:38book. 6,000 people are searching for
- 19:40food coloring book for adults. So on and
- 19:43so forth. Search results is then how
- 19:45many search results come up when someone
- 19:47types that in. This does not mean
- 19:49there's 5,234
- 19:52food coloring books on there. Amazon
- 19:54will link anything to do with food or
- 19:56coloring. So for example, food coloring
- 19:58is a thing that you know you use in
- 20:00baking and cooking. I'm no expert, but
- 20:02it's something like that. A lot of these
- 20:03products will be something to do with
- 20:05food coloring, you know, equipment or
- 20:06anything like that because Amazon is
- 20:08just picking anything it can to be
- 20:10related to that keyword term. So, this
- 20:12by no means says that there's 5,234
- 20:15search results. Generally, the lower the
- 20:17number here, the better the opportunity.
- 20:19Now, that's kind of how these two
- 20:21numbers interact, but self-publishing
- 20:23titans make it super easy for you.
- 20:25They've got a demand score, and they
- 20:26also give you an opportunity score. The
- 20:28opportunity score is basically the
- 20:30really important one because it
- 20:31essentially weighs up this balance
- 20:33between search volume and also search
- 20:35results to give you an overall
- 20:37opportunity score. So what you can
- 20:38simply do is go ahead and just sort this
- 20:40by opportunity score. It ranges from 1
- 20:43to 9. So the fact that there's loads of
- 20:44nines, eights, and sevens here shows us
- 20:47there is a really good opportunity. Now
- 20:49just to give a bit more context as to
- 20:50what these numbers mean, as I said just
- 20:52a second ago, the first step we need to
- 20:54do is to find if people are actually
- 20:56demanding our book. So when we go over
- 20:58to self-publishing titans, we've typed
- 20:59in food coloring book, you can see all
- 21:01of these different variations of food
- 21:03coloring book and you can see exactly
- 21:05how many people are searching every
- 21:06single month. There are literally
- 21:08thousands and thousands of searches of
- 21:10food coloring book or loads of related
- 21:12searches to do with food coloring book.
- 21:15Whether it's for adults, for kids,
- 21:16whether it's bold and easy, whether it's
- 21:18drinks and sweets, all that kind of
- 21:19thing. This is the only thing we're
- 21:21really looking at here. When it comes to
- 21:23the Amazon search bar, we do get these
- 21:25suggestions, but we have no idea if it's
- 21:2710 searches a month, like I say, or
- 21:2910,000. That data all comes from here.
- 21:32So, now we've done this, we know for
- 21:33sure that there are people demanding
- 21:36these books because there is such a
- 21:37significant search volume. Now,
- 21:39self-publishing titans is a paid tool.
- 21:41As you can see, the one you want to go
- 21:42for, like I said, this is linked down
- 21:44below in the description, is the
- 21:46hobbyist plan. It's only $20 per month
- 21:48if you sign up monthly or it's $15 per
- 21:50month if you use uh the yearly option
- 21:52and there is a discount code below which
- 21:54means you can get this even cheaper than
- 21:56$20 a month. Now you might be thinking I
- 21:58don't want to invest $20 a month but you
- 22:00have to understand this is a business
- 22:02any business requires some kind of
- 22:04investment whether it's in stock whether
- 22:06it's in advertising whatever it is this
- 22:08is only $20 a month which is absolutely
- 22:11nothing when you consider how much value
- 22:13you're getting from all of that data
- 22:14that I just showed you. It's the
- 22:16difference between making books that are
- 22:17actually going to sell and just not
- 22:19spending any money and making books that
- 22:21don't sell. So, you've got two options.
- 22:22You can either invest as little as $20 a
- 22:25month to get this data and you're
- 22:26actually making books that are going to
- 22:28make you money that can potentially make
- 22:29you way more than $20 a month back or
- 22:32you cannot spend any money, produce a
- 22:34load of books that no one's going to buy
- 22:35and you're still stuck at square one the
- 22:37whole time. You ultimately want to make
- 22:38as much money as you possibly can from
- 22:40this business model. So you need to make
- 22:42sure you're not afraid to invest in
- 22:44tools and software that going to allow
- 22:46you to do that. So that is the first
- 22:48step of this niche research done. We
- 22:49know that there are loads of people
- 22:51demanding some kind of food coloring
- 22:53book. The next step we need to do is to
- 22:55see if these books are actually selling.
- 22:57And a way to see if books are actually
- 22:58selling is by looking at something
- 23:00called a bestseller rank or what we call
- 23:02a BSR. So if I just go into this book
- 23:04listing here, as you can see, food,
- 23:06drink, and sweets coloring book for
- 23:07adults. If you scroll all the way down
- 23:10into the uh item description, every
- 23:12single book what's has what's called a
- 23:14bestseller rank. And this one, for
- 23:15example, is 641 in books. And this
- 23:19bestseller rank basically means it is
- 23:21the 641st
- 23:23bestselling book on the entire of
- 23:25Amazon. So the lower the bestseller rank
- 23:27is, the more units it is selling every
- 23:30day. So ideally, you want to have number
- 23:31one in books. That means you're the
- 23:33bestselling book on the entire of
- 23:34Amazon. And it's this BSR number that
- 23:37basically translates to how well a book
- 23:38is doing on Amazon and how much money
- 23:40it's actually making every single month.
- 23:42And the way you can do that is go to a
- 23:45BSR to sales calculator. Again, this is
- 23:47by Self-Publishing Titans, the tool I
- 23:49just showed you a second ago. If you
- 23:50just go in and type in the BSR number,
- 23:52so let's go for 641. Go ahead and press
- 23:55calculate sales. It is estimated that if
- 23:57you have a book with a BSR or bestseller
- 24:00rank of 641, it is selling roughly 213
- 24:04units every single day and 6,390
- 24:08units every single month. So, this food,
- 24:11drinks, and sweets coloring book is
- 24:13selling over 6,000 units every single
- 24:16month. So to understand going back to
- 24:18here to see if these books are actually
- 24:20selling in the first place, it all comes
- 24:22down to looking at the BSR number, which
- 24:24stands for best seller rank number. So
- 24:26what I recommend you do when you're
- 24:28doing your niche research is go through
- 24:29all of these books and analyze what
- 24:31their bestseller rank numbers are.
- 24:32Because if there's loads of books that
- 24:34have low bestseller ranks, it means that
- 24:36people are actively buying them all of
- 24:37the time and they're generally making
- 24:39money. So, not only are people demanding
- 24:41these food books, but people are
- 24:43actually not just demanding them,
- 24:44they're actually buying them as well,
- 24:46which ultimately is the second step we
- 24:48need for our niche research process.
- 24:50Now, I'm going to show you a completely
- 24:52free tool that's going to make life so
- 24:54much easier for you when you do this.
- 24:55Rather than having to click into every
- 24:57single book listing you see, scroll all
- 24:59the way down here and find the
- 25:01bestseller rank. I have a Chrome
- 25:02extension that basically allows you to
- 25:04see the bestseller ranks without having
- 25:06to click into all of the books. So, as
- 25:08you can see here, this food, drinks, and
- 25:09sweets bold and easy coloring book is
- 25:11641. This one here is 16,000. This one
- 25:15here is 845,000.
- 25:17This one here is 5,000. So, it just
- 25:19saves you so much time having to go not
- 25:22having to go in and, you know, look at
- 25:23all the BSRS individually. This Chrome
- 25:26extension is called DS Amazon Quick
- 25:28View. I will also leave this link down
- 25:29below in the description. Completely
- 25:31free. Just go ahead and press add to
- 25:32Chrome. And then when you go back to
- 25:34Amazon, it will show up all of this
- 25:35information which is really useful for
- 25:37you. So we know that the BSR number is
- 25:39the number that's going to show us how
- 25:41much you know books are actually selling
- 25:43for. How do we know you know how what a
- 25:45BSR number actually translates to into
- 25:47sales? Now we first check this one here
- 25:49of 641. When you're searching on
- 25:51Amazon.com, so I always do my niche
- 25:54research on Amazon.com. That's the
- 25:56Amazon US store. generally say any book
- 25:58that has a BSR of less than 50,000 is
- 26:02generally selling pretty well. So this
- 26:03one here 16,025
- 26:06is also selling pretty well. So food and
- 26:08snacks coloring book. So 16,025. We're
- 26:11going to go back over to this
- 26:12calculator. 16,025.
- 26:15Go ahead and press calculate sales. A
- 26:17book with a bestseller rank of 16,025
- 26:20sells roughly 18 units a day and 540
- 26:24units a month. So, let's just say this
- 26:25book is making, you know, $23
- 26:28um per book sale. It is making between
- 26:30$1,000 and $1,500
- 26:32every single month in passive income.
- 26:35And this is definitely a very achievable
- 26:37BSR. Now, when it comes to understanding
- 26:39if books in a potential niche are
- 26:41actually selling, if you type in
- 26:43something like food coloring book and
- 26:45all of these books have BSRS of like
- 26:47845,38.
- 26:49If I just go ahead and put this into
- 26:51here, 845,000. Let's go. Just go ahead
- 26:53and put that in. As you can see, this is
- 26:55this book is selling less than one unit
- 26:58every day. So, this is hardly making any
- 27:00money at all, this book. And the reason
- 27:01why, without going into too much detail,
- 27:03they haven't got any reviews on it.
- 27:05They're just trying to copy what
- 27:06everyone else is doing, and they haven't
- 27:08found their own avenue within this
- 27:10niche. And I'll go over that in just a
- 27:11bit more detail um in just a second. But
- 27:14let's just say, for example, all of
- 27:15these food coloring books had a really
- 27:18high BSR like this one. that would be a
- 27:20sign that yes, there's loads of food
- 27:22coloring books, but no one's actually
- 27:24buying them. In which case, that would
- 27:26be a red flag and we would stop this and
- 27:28try and look for another book. But when
- 27:30you see here the actual information, as
- 27:31you can see, this one's absolutely
- 27:32flying. This one's doing really well.
- 27:34This one's doing brilliantly as well.
- 27:365,38. What else have we got? 65,000. Not
- 27:40great, but not terrible. Let's go back
- 27:41in here and type in 65,000.
- 27:44This book is selling roughly five units
- 27:46a day. And again, 150 per month. If
- 27:48you're making, you know, $200 or $3 per
- 27:50book, that's about $500 every single
- 27:52month that you're making in passive
- 27:54income. So, don't necessarily aim for
- 27:56the home run every time, it's going to
- 27:58slowly take time. Uh, and if you get
- 27:59something like a $65,000 BSR, for a lot
- 28:02of people, an extra $500 a month from
- 28:04one book is really, really good. So,
- 28:06again, that's a sign that these books
- 28:08are selling. 39,000 79,000. So, as you
- 28:11can see, a lot of these food coloring
- 28:12books are actually selling. So now that
- 28:15we know there is demand for this book,
- 28:16we've seen in self-publishing titles,
- 28:18there's thousands of searches every
- 28:20single month for this book, we've
- 28:21secondly seen that these books are
- 28:23actually selling well because we've
- 28:24assessed the bestseller ranks of all of
- 28:26these books. As you can see, these ones
- 28:27selling really well. That shows that
- 28:29people are prepared to invest in a food
- 28:31coloring book. We now need to make sure
- 28:32that we're producing a book that people
- 28:34are actually going to buy. And this is
- 28:36the mistake that so many people make. So
- 28:39many people will look at this and think,
- 28:40"Okay, this one 641 in books, 6,000 in
- 28:43books, 5,000 in books. All I'm going to
- 28:45do is go ahead and copy the same thing,
- 28:47uploaded to Amazon, and then I'm surely
- 28:49going to make the same amount of money."
- 28:51That's just not the case. Cuz if I just
- 28:52came in and uploaded a food and snacks
- 28:54coloring book, bold and easy, and I put
- 28:57mine up, this one has got 1,400 reviews.
- 29:00So, in terms of social proof, if I just
- 29:02release a book and it has either no
- 29:04reviews or one or two reviews, which one
- 29:06are they going to buy? Are they going to
- 29:07buy mine or are they going to buy this
- 29:09one? Even if mine is cheaper, they're
- 29:11going to go ahead and buy this one. This
- 29:13food and snacks coloring book is already
- 29:16established. And that's exactly why, as
- 29:18you can see, this one here, food and
- 29:19snacks coloring book. Even though
- 29:20they've massively undercut them at £353,
- 29:23which means they're making pretty much,
- 29:24you know, pennies every single time they
- 29:27make a sale, this book still isn't
- 29:29selling anywhere near as well cuz people
- 29:31would rather spend a little bit more
- 29:33money and get one that they know is
- 29:35going to be good. So, this is getting
- 29:36all the sales and this one is hardly
- 29:39making any money. So, the thing you
- 29:40don't want to do is see a book that's
- 29:42selling well and then just go ahead and
- 29:44copy it. What you actually need to do
- 29:45instead is understand exactly what's
- 29:47going on here. People are searching for
- 29:49food coloring books and people are
- 29:51buying food coloring books. The next
- 29:53step is how can we find our own space
- 29:55within this overall niche of coloring
- 29:57books to potentially make. So, rather
- 29:59than just copying what everybody else is
- 30:01doing and making a book that's not going
- 30:02to sell, there's a couple of things we
- 30:04need to do. Firstly, we need to have our
- 30:06very own unique proposition. So, our
- 30:08book firstly needs to look different to
- 30:10all of these ones. If we just make one
- 30:12that looks the same, ours is never going
- 30:13to catch anyone's eye. The book itself
- 30:16also needs to be a different kind of
- 30:18thing. As you can see, all of these
- 30:19books here, all they are is simply just
- 30:22food designs. Super simple, super basic.
- 30:24This is literally just grapes. And we
- 30:26also need to finally create a
- 30:28significantly better product. Those are
- 30:30the three things that we need to check
- 30:32off. It needs to be different. It needs
- 30:34to look different and it needs to be a
- 30:36significantly better product. So, the
- 30:38idea I've got for this is to make a food
- 30:40coloring book, but as you can see on
- 30:41screen, I'm going to make a food
- 30:42coloring book that also has funny food
- 30:45related puns in it. So, not only is it a
- 30:47completely different proposition to
- 30:49every single food coloring book already
- 30:50on there, you're not just getting basic
- 30:52boring designs like this. You've also
- 30:54got text to color in and it's just a
- 30:56little bit more humorous, a little bit
- 30:57more light-hearted than just coloring a
- 30:59load of images of fruit. So the strategy
- 31:01we're basically doing is we're taking
- 31:03all of this demand from food coloring
- 31:05and diverting into our very own kind of
- 31:07area where no one else is competing
- 31:09against us. We're still getting all of
- 31:10this demand. We're just providing a
- 31:12brand new and unique book for people who
- 31:14want to go ahead and buy it. So if
- 31:15someone's now browsing to buy a food
- 31:17related coloring book, then you look at
- 31:18all of these. All of these look the
- 31:20same. And then bam, they're going to see
- 31:22ours which looks completely different.
- 31:23And it's not just coloring food, it's
- 31:25coloring in quotes. And it's also funny
- 31:27quotes that's going to make them laugh.
- 31:29a significantly better product for their
- 31:31money. So that's kind of how you need to
- 31:33see it. Don't just copy what's working.
- 31:35A lot of people say that and it's just
- 31:36absolutely terrible advice. You need to
- 31:38make the most of all this demands that's
- 31:40coming in. create your own blue ocean,
- 31:42your own opportunity where you've got
- 31:43your own unique product that's
- 31:44significantly better quality and you
- 31:46know is a better offer for the customer
- 31:48and you're getting the same amount of
- 31:49traffic from people searching food
- 31:50coloring book and there's just
- 31:52significantly less competition because
- 31:54while everyone else just battling out
- 31:56making books that look exactly the same,
- 31:58you've got your very own unique angle to
- 32:00it. So those are the steps you need to
- 32:02take to make sure you're researching
- 32:04correctly and only creating books that
- 32:06you know are actually going to sell
- 32:08well. So in summary, you essentially
- 32:09need to start quite broad. Find
- 32:11potential niches to go into. So the
- 32:13example we looked at was food coloring
- 32:15book. Type that idea into
- 32:16self-publishing titans to see how many
- 32:18people are searching for that search
- 32:20term along with loads of other related
- 32:21search terms every single month. Once
- 32:24you know that thousands of people are
- 32:25searching for every month, you know
- 32:27there is demand for some kind of food
- 32:29coloring book. You then need to go on to
- 32:30Amazon to assess how well the
- 32:32competition is already selling. If
- 32:34competition isn't selling any units at
- 32:36all, guess what? you're probably not
- 32:38going to sell any either. But the fact
- 32:39that we checked and there were books
- 32:40that were selling really well shows that
- 32:42people are not just searching for food
- 32:44coloring books. They are also buying
- 32:46them. But we crucially don't want to
- 32:47just make a food coloring book like
- 32:49everybody else because people are going
- 32:51to buy the ones that already existing.
- 32:53We need to take this demand and this
- 32:55traffic and funnel it into our very own
- 32:57kind of unique packaging, which is
- 32:59exactly what we're doing with a food
- 33:01coloring book. But ours instead is going
- 33:02to include funny quotes. That's not only
- 33:04going to make people laugh. It's going
- 33:06to give them more to color in and just
- 33:07give us a significantly better product
- 33:09than just the basic designs of, you
- 33:11know, an avocado or, you know, a bunch
- 33:13of grapes um on a piece of paper. So
- 33:15ours is going to be a significantly
- 33:16better product and crucially a unique
- 33:18product. So the next step in this
- 33:20process is the fun bit and that's
- 33:21actually creating your book. So creating
- 33:24your KDP book. There are many different
- 33:25types of books you can make on Amazon
- 33:27KDP. However, as a beginner, I suggest
- 33:29you start with coloring books. There are
- 33:31alternative things you can make. You can
- 33:33make like blankline journals. You can
- 33:35make actual high content book, you know,
- 33:37with 30,000word fiction and non-fiction.
- 33:40The reason why I don't recommend you do
- 33:41that as a beginner, it's very very
- 33:43expensive to do. It can cost you, you
- 33:44know, upwards of $500 to $1,000 just to
- 33:47get one of those books created. In terms
- 33:49of notebooks, yes, they're a little bit
- 33:51easier to make, but trust me, you're not
- 33:53going to sell any notebooks on Amazon
- 33:55KDP in 2026 and beyond. There are so
- 33:58many people online saying, you know,
- 34:00make load of these notebooks and have
- 34:01funny front covers and you'll make load
- 34:02of money. If you want to do that, you
- 34:04are just going to waste your time.
- 34:06You're not going to sell anything. They
- 34:08used to work way back in, you know,
- 34:102018, 2019, 2020. They don't work
- 34:13anymore, which is why I recommend
- 34:14coloring books because they are the best
- 34:16in between for a beginner where they're
- 34:19really not that expensive at all to make
- 34:21and you can still make a lot of money
- 34:23from them. And a lot of people will say,
- 34:24you know, coloring books are dead. Stop
- 34:25listening to people. This is literally a
- 34:27coloring book that I have on my own
- 34:29Amazon KDP account. I made it in January
- 34:322025 and it has sold over $13,000
- 34:35in its first year. Yes, there are some
- 34:38coloring books that won't sell, but
- 34:39that's why that research I've just shown
- 34:41you in the first part of the video is so
- 34:43important to make sure you're only
- 34:45making books that do sell. All of these
- 34:47people that say, you know, coloring
- 34:48books don't work anymore. you know,
- 34:50everyone's just kind of lying about how
- 34:51successful they are is because they're
- 34:53just uploading any kind of coloring book
- 34:55and they don't have any kind of strategy
- 34:56to it. This is literally an example of a
- 34:58coloring book that I made. As I say,
- 35:00it's done over $13,000 in its first
- 35:03year. So, yes, coloring books do
- 35:05absolutely work. And in my opinion, they
- 35:07are the best books for beginners because
- 35:09A, they're cheap to make. B, you can
- 35:11make loads of them very easily, and C,
- 35:13the more books you upload, the more
- 35:15you're just going to learn by doing on
- 35:16Amazon KDP rather than making a book,
- 35:18you know, once every 2 months, and
- 35:20you're just learning really, really
- 35:21slowly. And you can actually make money
- 35:23from them. So, as a beginner, I would
- 35:25recommend sticking to coloring books.
- 35:27Now, creating your KDB book. Now, you
- 35:28have to understand that even if you've
- 35:30done your research correctly, your book
- 35:32still needs to be high quality to sell.
- 35:34So, even if you find a really good niche
- 35:36that we've just found there, if our book
- 35:38is low quality, we're not selling to
- 35:40robots. People aren't going to buy it.
- 35:42So, you need to have good research and
- 35:44also a high quality book. Now, for
- 35:47coloring books, the tool I recommend
- 35:48that you use is a tool called KDL. It's,
- 35:50in my opinion, far and away the best
- 35:53tool that you can use to create coloring
- 35:55books to sell on Amazon KDP. Not only is
- 35:57it one of the most affordable tools on
- 35:59the market, it's also extremely
- 36:01userfriendly and the quality of the
- 36:02images are way beyond any other image
- 36:05generator I've used on Amazon KDP. And
- 36:07to be honest, outside of Amazon KDP and
- 36:09there's loads of really intricate
- 36:11features that basically mean you can
- 36:13have complete control over exactly what
- 36:14your images look like, which things like
- 36:16chat GPT and Midjourney just don't allow
- 36:18you to do. Now, Kit is again a paid
- 36:21tool, but as you can see, it's only £15
- 36:23per month if you go for the yearly
- 36:25option. There is a free option. However,
- 36:27you are very limited with how many
- 36:28projects you can have and you hardly
- 36:30have any AI image generation tokens. So,
- 36:32I do recommend you go for the pro
- 36:34version because you're just not really
- 36:35going to have enough uh credits to
- 36:37actually make a book. But with the pro
- 36:38version, you get 2,000 AI credits, which
- 36:41is easily enough per month to make
- 36:43multiple different coloring books all
- 36:44for just one monthly fee of only £15.
- 36:47And if you do actually use the discount
- 36:49code that you can see on screen, you
- 36:50also get a 25% discount off KD to make
- 36:53this even more affordable for you. And
- 36:55just to show you how good of an
- 36:57investment this is, if you think this is
- 36:58only £15 per month for KD and you can
- 37:01create literally as many coloring pages
- 37:03as you want every single month for only
- 37:05£15. If you were to go ahead and
- 37:07outsource this to, you know, an
- 37:09illustrator or something like that,
- 37:10which is what you would have had to do
- 37:12before a tool like KD, as you can see,
- 37:14one coloring page with one character is
- 37:16going to be £11 per image. So, if you
- 37:19have a 100 image book, it's going to
- 37:21cost you over £1,000 to get it made from
- 37:24an illustrator. But when you use KD,
- 37:26it's going to cost you literally £15.
- 37:28So, the amount you save by using this
- 37:30tool is absolutely ridiculous versus
- 37:32what you would have previously had to
- 37:33pay for a freelancer. So again, don't
- 37:35see this as a cost. See this as an
- 37:38investment that's going to allow you to
- 37:39create really highquality books that are
- 37:41going to make you more sales, make you
- 37:43more money, and easily pay for a tool
- 37:45like this. Now, you can, if you want to,
- 37:47go for the expert for even more AI
- 37:49credits. Of course, the more AI credits
- 37:51you have, the better. But I would
- 37:52generally say, especially if you're a
- 37:53beginner, just stick to the pro version
- 37:56because there is easily enough in there
- 37:57for what you need. As I say, the free
- 37:59version just doesn't really have enough.
- 38:00So, what I'm going to do now is just
- 38:02show you a quick run through of KD and
- 38:04show you some of the features that you
- 38:05can use. Then after this, I'm going to
- 38:07go into a stepbystep tutorial of exactly
- 38:10how to bring a KDP coloring book to life
- 38:12from scratch using this exact software.
- 38:14So, this is KD, and this is where all of
- 38:16your designs for your Amazon KDP
- 38:18business are going to come to life. Both
- 38:20your actual book interior, but also your
- 38:22book front and back cover files. As I
- 38:24say, I'm going to show you a complete
- 38:25step-by-step tutorial of exactly how to
- 38:27do that in just a second, but I'm just
- 38:29going to introduce you to some of the
- 38:30features here now. So, essentially, this
- 38:33is how um Kit looks. If you go up to
- 38:35this is basically just called a board.
- 38:37You can duplicate this. This is another
- 38:39board. So, this is going to be one page.
- 38:40This can be another. But, as I say, I'll
- 38:42cover that in significant detail in just
- 38:44a second. Now, the main thing with KD is
- 38:46its AI image generation. So, let's just
- 38:48say for example, we wanted to create a
- 38:50coloring page of a dog wearing a hat.
- 38:53All you would need to do is go down to
- 38:55this box here and then just type in
- 38:56something like black and white coloring
- 38:58page of a cute dog wearing a hat cuz
- 39:00that's basically what we wanted to make.
- 39:02You can go for different kind of image
- 39:04generations here. I personally think the
- 39:05Flux 2 Pro HD is the best one, but you
- 39:08can also use Google Image Gen 4, which
- 39:11is also a really good one. But just have
- 39:13a play around and see which one you
- 39:14prefer. I'm going to stick to Flux 2 Pro
- 39:16HD for this one. It sounds super
- 39:18complicated, but just use one of those
- 39:20two options. And then you can either
- 39:21generate one image or you can generate
- 39:23four images. So let's go ahead and
- 39:24generate four images and see which of
- 39:26those is the best. So we just type in
- 39:28black and white coloring page of a cute
- 39:30dog wearing a hat. Go ahead and press
- 39:32generate. And as you can see, it's going
- 39:33to go ahead and generate four of these
- 39:35different images. They're going to be
- 39:36slightly different to each other, but
- 39:38then they're going to be four options
- 39:39for us to choose, and we can just choose
- 39:40the best one that we want for our book.
- 39:43So, as you can see, there are four
- 39:44different designs here, and it's
- 39:45completely personal preference um which
- 39:47one you want to go for. But for the
- 39:49example here, let's just go for this
- 39:50third one. I think this is the best one
- 39:53um for us to use. You can literally just
- 39:55go ahead and drop that into your canvas.
- 39:57And all of a sudden, you have a coloring
- 40:00page that you can literally put into
- 40:02your coloring book. That has literally
- 40:03taken us less than 30 seconds to do. And
- 40:06as you can see, would have cost us £11
- 40:08just to have this image drawn by an
- 40:10illustrator like this, which is actually
- 40:11nowhere near as good. And ours is way
- 40:13more affordable, too. And where kit just
- 40:15completely comes into its own as well is
- 40:17it's what's called its smartboard
- 40:19feature. So let's just say this was our
- 40:21initial design. We wanted to add a few
- 40:23more things to it. We generally wanted
- 40:25to keep what the design was here, but we
- 40:26wanted to add maybe some backgrounds,
- 40:28maybe some extra details while keeping
- 40:30exactly the same style here. Well,
- 40:32that's exactly what you can do. If you
- 40:33just go up to this box here where it
- 40:35says standard, go ahead and press
- 40:37smartboard. And what this basically does
- 40:39is it will this smartboard will read
- 40:41this initial design and then combine it
- 40:43with your prompt to add in extra detail.
- 40:46So we can just say in add in some grass
- 40:50and some bones and some dog bones
- 40:54in the background.
- 40:57Go ahead and just press generate. What
- 40:59it's going to do is use Nano Banana,
- 41:01which is one of the most powerful image
- 41:02kind of manipulation AI tools out there
- 41:04to generate the image that we're looking
- 41:06for. So, we've taken this one and we've
- 41:08just said add in some grass and some dog
- 41:10bones in the background. So, we're going
- 41:11to go ahead and press generate. And as
- 41:13you can see, it has generated this
- 41:14image. Now, it's actually not done what
- 41:16exactly we want to. That's kind of my
- 41:17fault cuz I've not prompted it correctly
- 41:19cuz it's said it's put some of the grass
- 41:21in the background here. But, I've
- 41:22basically said add in some grass and
- 41:24some dog groans in the background. So,
- 41:26that's reading it as saying add some
- 41:27grass to the background. So, I'm going
- 41:29to say add some grass to the floor and
- 41:32some floating
- 41:35dog bones in the background. Go ahead
- 41:37and press generate again, and it's going
- 41:38to redo that image with a better prompt.
- 41:41So, you do need to prompt it correctly.
- 41:42You need to be quite specific with what
- 41:44you're doing, but when you do that, it
- 41:45can create a really good design. As you
- 41:47can see, that's exactly what it's done.
- 41:49It's kept our initial design here. It's
- 41:51added in some grass on the floor and
- 41:53also some floating bones in the
- 41:54background. So you can literally have a
- 41:56play around and do whatever you want to
- 41:58with these images. Let's just say we
- 42:00were happy with this image and that's
- 42:01the one we wanted to go for. We would
- 42:03then have this for our coloring book. So
- 42:05as I say, I'm going to show you exactly
- 42:06how to do that in just a sec when
- 42:08building it out fully. But just to show
- 42:09you what this is capable of even more,
- 42:11let's just say we take this initial
- 42:13design here and we want to just say
- 42:15change the dog into a cat. Let's just
- 42:18say we made a coloring book that was
- 42:20animals wearing hats. For example, our
- 42:22first image can be a dog wearing a hat.
- 42:24And the next one we want to have a cat
- 42:26wearing a hat. What we've done, we've
- 42:28just said change the dog into a cat. And
- 42:29as you can see, it's exactly the same
- 42:31style of drawing. We just have a cat in
- 42:33a hat instead. So there is literally so
- 42:35much you can do. There is no other tool
- 42:37on the market that can even do this, let
- 42:39alone for anywhere near the price that
- 42:41you can do this for. So KD is by far the
- 42:43best tool when it comes to creating AI
- 42:45coloring books. And not only can you do
- 42:47this for the book interior, you can also
- 42:48do it for book covers, too. So, if you
- 42:50have like an existing book cover of your
- 42:52own that you want to change a few of the
- 42:53images to, or you want to keep the same
- 42:55style but make it a different kind of
- 42:56book, you can do exactly that. So, as
- 42:58you can see, I uploaded this book cover
- 43:00that I made personally um as one of my
- 43:02books. And I wanted to create a food
- 43:04coloring book, but keep the same style.
- 43:06So, all I did was upload this initial
- 43:08image um of my coloring book cover. I
- 43:11then went into and added a smartboard
- 43:12and just said keep the same style but
- 43:14make a cute food coloring book for
- 43:16adults and replace the animal elements
- 43:17with food elements which as you can see
- 43:19is exactly what it's done. However, it
- 43:21hasn't quite done it properly because
- 43:23this hasn't changed this cat at the top.
- 43:25But it has changed everything else. So I
- 43:27then went in pressed this smartboard
- 43:29here and then just pressed smartboard
- 43:30again to create another one and I've
- 43:32just said replace the cat with another
- 43:34food item and make the text a little bit
- 43:36bigger which is exactly what it's done.
- 43:38The cat is now gone and is now replaced
- 43:41with a piece of sushi. So, it's not
- 43:43always going to be perfect first time
- 43:45round. You do just have to keep
- 43:46prompting it a little bit. And just make
- 43:47sure you're very specific with your
- 43:49prompts. So, that generated me this book
- 43:51cover. I've then gone into here and just
- 43:53said, make the background pink. So, keep
- 43:54everything else the same and just make
- 43:56it a pink background. And all of a
- 43:57sudden, we've gone from this initial
- 43:59design, kept everything exactly the
- 44:00same, and we've just turned it into a
- 44:02cute food coloring book for adults and
- 44:04updated everything. Now, that's an
- 44:06extremely powerful feature of KD that
- 44:08absolutely no one else has. So, that's a
- 44:10very quick introduction to what KD is,
- 44:12how you can use it for your book covers
- 44:13and also your book interior. I'm now
- 44:15going to go over to a completely new KD
- 44:16project and show you step by step
- 44:18exactly how to bring a full Amazon KDP
- 44:20book to life, the interior, the front
- 44:22cover, the everything to do with the
- 44:24formatting, all using KD that you can
- 44:26then go ahead and upload to Amazon KDP.
- 44:29So, now that we know we're going to make
- 44:30a food coloring book based around, you
- 44:32know, some punny phrases and things are
- 44:33just going to be a little bit more
- 44:34humorous than the current offerings on
- 44:36the market. How exactly do we go ahead
- 44:38and create this? Now, as you can see, I
- 44:40have already gone and made this book off
- 44:41camera. As you can see, all of these
- 44:43different designs, you know, they're
- 44:44coloring themed pages with, you know,
- 44:46kind of punny and funny phrases. So, you
- 44:48better believe it with, you know, some
- 44:49cake batter and a cool design to color
- 44:51in. Let us celebrate. Holy guacamole
- 44:54with an avocado. A nacho problem with a
- 44:56cool nacho that you can color in. So,
- 44:58we're not just creating food designs.
- 44:59We're creating funny designs. And you
- 45:01can also, you know, color in the text.
- 45:04You can color in the other elements
- 45:05around it. So, we are having a food
- 45:07coloring book, but we're completely in
- 45:09our own lane here. And we're not
- 45:11competing against anybody else. Everyone
- 45:13else is just creating exactly the same
- 45:14product as each other, competing against
- 45:16each other, and getting no sales. We're
- 45:18still tapping into that really high
- 45:20demand niche, but we've completely made
- 45:23our own lane in it. So, as you can just
- 45:25see, all of these cool designs that
- 45:26we've got for ourselves, these are all
- 45:28what we've made in this one file. So, as
- 45:30you can see, all of these cool designs
- 45:32that are really highquality images and
- 45:34also exactly what we're trying to do
- 45:36with this book. I've made literally
- 45:38completely from scratch using AI. And
- 45:40here's exactly how I did it. So, now I'm
- 45:42going to show you a step-by-step process
- 45:43of exactly how I've brought this
- 45:45coloring book to life using purely AI.
- 45:48Now, the actual tool we're going to be
- 45:49using to bring these images to life is a
- 45:51tool called KD. Now, I will leave Kit
- 45:53link down below in the description along
- 45:55with a discount code that you can see on
- 45:56screen to get yourself 25% discount off
- 45:59it. It's by far one of the most
- 46:01affordable and powerful softwares you
- 46:03can have for an Amazon KDP business. And
- 46:05as you're about to see, can help you
- 46:07create books literally like this in less
- 46:09than an hour that you can then sell for
- 46:11hundreds of dollars on Amazon. And
- 46:12what's even more powerful is when you
- 46:14combine something like KD with chat GPT
- 46:16to come up with all of these designs for
- 46:18you. Now, KD is kind of the power behind
- 46:21actually generating these images in the
- 46:22first place. And then you can either
- 46:24come up with these ideas yourself. You
- 46:26know, these punny things, let us
- 46:27celebrate based around a lettuce or holy
- 46:29guacamole based around an avocado. But I
- 46:31personally didn't even come up with
- 46:32these. I used chat GPT to come up with
- 46:34these and then literally got ChatGpt to
- 46:37create a prompt that I then put into KD
- 46:39that I then used to create these
- 46:40designs. This is exactly how I did it.
- 46:42So, I literally just went into chat GBT
- 46:44and sent in this image that I found
- 46:46online of exactly the kind of style that
- 46:48I'm looking for. I just said, "I'm
- 46:50looking to make an adult coloring book
- 46:51that has funny phrases to go along with
- 46:53a coloring image." I've attached an
- 46:55example of the kind of design style I
- 46:57want. The example of this phrase is,
- 46:59"What the fudge cookie?" And another
- 47:00example would be donut mess with me. And
- 47:02another would be sit me baby one more
- 47:04time. These are just examples I found
- 47:06online. Can you think of 10 more funny
- 47:08phrases like this that I can use in my
- 47:10coloring book? I will ask I will later
- 47:12ask you to come up with design ideas
- 47:14based off them. So as it said here are
- 47:16some funny uh food phrases. So you
- 47:18better believe it. Let us celebrate.
- 47:20Holy guacamole. These are the ones that
- 47:22I then used in that design. A nacho
- 47:24problem. Peas out. Two peas in a pod
- 47:26giving pea signs. I then just said it's
- 47:28exactly what I'm looking for. So I
- 47:29absolutely love it. Can you help me
- 47:30create a prompt for Darly for the first
- 47:32idea? Now within KD you can use loads of
- 47:35different image generation um AIS. You
- 47:37can use Darly, you can use Google image
- 47:39gen. So, it doesn't really matter which
- 47:40one you go for. But what I'm essentially
- 47:42doing here is I'm asking chat GPT,
- 47:44great, I really like the fact that
- 47:46you've got all of these designs and
- 47:47there's exactly what I'm looking for.
- 47:49Can you give me a prompt that I can
- 47:50literally just put into KD and that's
- 47:52going to give me the design that I want.
- 47:54So, that's exactly what I asked it for
- 47:56and this is the prompt that it gave me.
- 47:58And I actually went down and said,
- 47:59there's actually a few more things that
- 48:00I need to color in the image. I don't
- 48:01just want one image. I kind of want some
- 48:03background elements that you can also
- 48:04color in. And then it gave me an even
- 48:06more updated prompt. And then it asked
- 48:08me if I want a repeatable template. I
- 48:10then just said yes. I want a repeatable
- 48:12template where I can just go in have
- 48:14exactly the same style consistently but
- 48:16just change the design every single
- 48:17time. And what it did is it gave me this
- 48:20template here. And the example for the
- 48:22image of you believe it. I literally go
- 48:24ahead and copy this code. I then went
- 48:26over to Kit AI as you can see here and I
- 48:28literally just copy and pasted this code
- 48:31in and then just press generate image.
- 48:33And this is the original image that it
- 48:35generated. I've just run the same prompt
- 48:37here and it's got me a slightly
- 48:38different version of the image. Now,
- 48:40what you can do as well if you don't
- 48:41like the original image, now in my
- 48:43opinion, this one here is way better
- 48:45quality than this one here, you can go
- 48:47back into this prompt and just add in a
- 48:49few things. Now, for me, the background
- 48:51elements don't particularly look that
- 48:52great. So, I'm going to go to here where
- 48:54it says add small decorative elements,
- 48:56sprinkle, stars, hearts, whatever. And
- 48:57then at the end just say uh to fill
- 49:00background just so it's going to add a
- 49:02few more of those to make the image look
- 49:03a little bit more you know appealing and
- 49:06there's more going on in it. And now
- 49:07here is the updated design. So this one
- 49:09is significantly better than this one.
- 49:10There's just more going on to it with
- 49:12it. There's more elements you can color
- 49:13in. I prefer this one a lot more to
- 49:15this. But it's all about just tinkering
- 49:17with this prompt until you kind of have
- 49:19one that you like. A lot of these it got
- 49:21it right first time but it sometimes
- 49:23does take a little bit of tweaking. But
- 49:25that's exactly how you would do that for
- 49:27the first design. Then once you've got
- 49:28this image, all you want to do is go
- 49:30down to this section here where it says
- 49:31artboard and then just draw yourself a
- 49:33rough artboard of what you want. Just
- 49:35going to be roughly uh square. And then
- 49:37you can change it to exactly the
- 49:38dimensions that you need for KDP. So we
- 49:40want to be producing an 8.5 by an 8.5
- 49:43design because that's the size we're
- 49:45going to go for for our book. We want it
- 49:46to be kind of like a square coloring
- 49:48book. And those dimensions for the
- 49:49interior are 8.5x 8.5. And this will
- 49:53generate what's called an artboard. Now
- 49:54all you need to do then is go ahead and
- 49:56drag your image into this artboard. And
- 49:58now you have an artboard that you can
- 50:00actually go in and export yourself. So
- 50:02to repeat this process, I would then
- 50:04move on to the next design. We're going
- 50:05to go ahead back into KL AI. Get rid of
- 50:08this and then just put in the letter
- 50:10celebrate here. We're actually going to
- 50:11go ahead and add in to fill background
- 50:15just so it saves us having to do it
- 50:16again manually when we're not too happy
- 50:18with the original design. Go ahead and
- 50:20press generate image. And this should
- 50:21now give us our second image which is
- 50:23going to be based around this let us
- 50:24celebrate pun. And as you can see here
- 50:26is that second design that it's
- 50:28generated for us. Now again we need to
- 50:29go ahead and make another artboard for
- 50:31this one. So I'll just draw this roughly
- 50:32around it. And then go to this artboard
- 50:35by clicking artboard number at the top.
- 50:37And then just making this 8.5x
- 50:408.5 again just like we did with the
- 50:42previous one. Go ahead and put this
- 50:44design in. And then that's our second
- 50:46page done. So, all you need to do then
- 50:47is go ahead and just repeat this process
- 50:49until you have a file full of all of
- 50:52these different interiors. Now, I
- 50:53actually went back into ChatGpt and as
- 50:55you can see, it's giving me the prompts
- 50:57for pretty much all of these designs. It
- 50:59gives me 10 at a time. And then I just
- 51:01continue to ask Chat GBT to keep coming
- 51:03up with new ideas. So, your one smart
- 51:05cookie along with a prompt for the exact
- 51:07design that I want. Same with this one.
- 51:09And it just keeps going down and down
- 51:10and down until you have 50 designs that
- 51:13you can use in your file. That's
- 51:15basically where all of these designs
- 51:17came from. Stay cool. Sweet like honey.
- 51:19We're meant we're meant to be. You're my
- 51:21butter half, too hot to handle. All of
- 51:23these ideas came from ChatgBT. The
- 51:25prompt came from ChatgBT. But the actual
- 51:28images themselves came from KD where I
- 51:30now have this file that I can then
- 51:32download and use on Amazon KDP. Now, I
- 51:34do recommend if you're creating a book
- 51:36that you're going to sell on Amazon, you
- 51:37have at least 50 images that you can
- 51:39have in your book. Otherwise, the book
- 51:41will be too small. It's not going to be
- 51:42that satisfactory for the customer.
- 51:44you're probably going to get bad
- 51:45reviews. So, I would say at least 50
- 51:47designs is kind of your sweet spot here.
- 51:49So, that's exactly what I did. I just
- 51:51continued to make more of these designs
- 51:53using exactly the process that I've just
- 51:54showed you until I had 50 designs ready
- 51:57for my book. And that is the book
- 51:59coloring interior completely done. We
- 52:01now need to move on to the book cover.
- 52:03Now, in order to make a book cover, you
- 52:04first of all need to get the dimensions
- 52:06right. So, this is the little bit of the
- 52:07boring stuff. I'll leave this link down
- 52:09below in the description cuz this is
- 52:10basically uh Amazon KDP's very own
- 52:12calculator that gives you exactly the
- 52:14dimensions that you need for your book
- 52:16cover. So, you just need to enter some
- 52:17book information here. We're going to go
- 52:19for binding type of paperback. The
- 52:21interior type, we're going to go for
- 52:22black and white. The paper type is white
- 52:25paper. The reading direction is left to
- 52:27right. And the measurement units is
- 52:28going to be in inches. And the trim
- 52:30size, like I said, is 8.5x 8.5 in. We're
- 52:34going to have 50 designs in there,
- 52:35including one page as an intro page. So,
- 52:3850 designs on every single right-hand
- 52:41page. Every single lefthand page, we're
- 52:43just going to leave blank to prevent the
- 52:44colors bleeding through. So, for every
- 52:46design, there's two pages. You'll see
- 52:48exactly what this looks like later. So,
- 52:49our overall page count is going to be
- 52:51101 because we have that one intro page
- 52:54and then every lefthand page, it's just
- 52:56going to be completely blank. But even
- 52:57though it's blank, that still counts as
- 52:59a page. Then, every right page is going
- 53:01to be a design. So 101 pages in total.
- 53:04Go ahead and just press calculate
- 53:06dimensions. And as you can see, it's
- 53:08going to have calculated all the
- 53:09dimensions for us. We then just want to
- 53:11go down to download template. And that's
- 53:13going to download this zip file of
- 53:15exactly a drag and drop template. We can
- 53:16go ahead and just put into KD and use
- 53:18for our design. So when you're back in
- 53:20KD, just go over to this uploads file.
- 53:22Then upload the file that you just
- 53:24downloaded. And then you can put it
- 53:25straight into your canvas. And then once
- 53:27you do that, it will look something like
- 53:28this. So this is exactly how we need our
- 53:31design to look. So, as you can see, this
- 53:33is where the front cover is going to go.
- 53:35This is where the back cover is going to
- 53:36go. And this here is where the spine's
- 53:38going to be. Now, this has just been
- 53:39uploaded as an image in Kit for now. So,
- 53:42to make it something that we can
- 53:43actually go ahead and download later on,
- 53:45we again need to make another artboard.
- 53:46So, just go down to this artboard button
- 53:48here. Roughly drag it over the template.
- 53:50Again, doesn't really matter too much as
- 53:52long as it's kind of roughly um a
- 53:53similar size. Just move this slightly to
- 53:55the side. And as you can see, the
- 53:56dimensions that we're going to need for
- 53:58our artboard are 17.475 475 in by 8.75
- 54:03in. So, we're going to go back to this
- 54:05artboard here. Zoom out a little bit
- 54:06just so we can keep that text in sight.
- 54:09Click on artboard and then go for 17
- 54:1347. Now, this only goes to two decimal
- 54:15places, but that's absolutely fine in
- 54:17this case. And then 8.75
- 54:20in as the height. And that's exactly the
- 54:23dimensions that we need for our KDP book
- 54:26cover. We're going to go ahead and put
- 54:27this template right into the top corner
- 54:29there. Drag it all the way down to the
- 54:32bottom. And now we have our template
- 54:33perfectly sitting within our artboard.
- 54:36And this is going to be the file that we
- 54:37export as our KDP front cover and our
- 54:40KDP back cover. Now, here are just two
- 54:42designs that I created off camera for
- 54:44this book. So, they've got examples of
- 54:45exactly the images that we're going to
- 54:47be using, you know, in our book as the
- 54:49front cover. So you can kind of make the
- 54:50front cover and back cover whatever you
- 54:52want to choose your favorite design or
- 54:54the design that you think kind of, you
- 54:55know, represents the book the best. So
- 54:57the ones I've gone for here are Donut
- 54:59Ever Change and also Espresso yourself.
- 55:01Now you can make multiple different
- 55:02variations of the front cover depending
- 55:04on which design you want, but I'm going
- 55:06to show you exactly how I made these.
- 55:08Now, and the first thing I did was start
- 55:10exactly from this position here. I just
- 55:12had this default artboard in here. And
- 55:13let's just take this first one for
- 55:15example of this donut ever change. This
- 55:17is where KD kind of really comes into
- 55:18its own because if you just go into the
- 55:20image that you created, you can go to
- 55:22this thing that says smartboard here and
- 55:24what this basically is going to do is
- 55:26it's going to read this initial design
- 55:28here and kind of do whatever you want
- 55:29for it. So literally all I said with
- 55:32this one here, which is a smartboard
- 55:33that I made off camera. I literally just
- 55:35selected this one and said color in this
- 55:37image. So all I did was I clicked here
- 55:40and then pressed Smartboard and I just
- 55:41said color in this image.
- 55:45and it's gone ahead and just colored in
- 55:47this design for me. Now, it's not going
- 55:48to be exactly the same design every
- 55:50single time. It's going to be a little
- 55:52bit different, but let's just say I
- 55:53wanted to change this text um to, you
- 55:55know, a yellow color rather than it
- 55:57being a blue. I could just say now add a
- 55:59smartboard from this one. So, basically
- 56:01how this works is you take an original
- 56:03image. You then create a variation of
- 56:05that and then from this variation you
- 56:07could then add another variation. So,
- 56:09we've got a blue uh text here. change
- 56:11the text to yellow if you wanted to have
- 56:14a yellow text. And that's exactly what
- 56:16it's done here. And then let's just say
- 56:18again we wanted to change the change
- 56:20the icing
- 56:23on the donut to blue. Let's just say we
- 56:27didn't want it to be a pink donut. We
- 56:28for some reason want it to be a blue
- 56:30donut. You can go ahead and change that.
- 56:31That's just me showing you, you know,
- 56:33just how much variation you can have in
- 56:35all of these designs and literally bring
- 56:36it to life however you want to. in, as
- 56:39far as I'm aware, there's no other tool
- 56:41on the market that allows you to have
- 56:42this level of customization, not only in
- 56:45your designs for your interior, but also
- 56:46the designs for your front cover. And
- 56:48again, as you can see, it's kept the
- 56:50yellow text, but it's change the donut
- 56:52to being blue. Now, this is an extremely
- 56:54powerful tool if you want to try
- 56:56multiple different variations of your
- 56:57book cover. But let's just say that I
- 56:59wanted to use this design on my front
- 57:01cover. It actually currently is a
- 57:03smartboard, but if you click on the
- 57:04Smartboard itself, you have this button
- 57:05that just says convert to image. And now
- 57:07that's going to just create an image for
- 57:08you based off that smartboard. And this
- 57:10is the image that we're going to use in
- 57:12our design. So we're going to go ahead
- 57:13and pull this all the way down. Let's go
- 57:15and find that cover that we had here.
- 57:18And we're just going to go ahead and
- 57:19drop this onto the front cover itself.
- 57:22Now the background can be entirely what
- 57:23you want to do. This is currently a
- 57:25white background, but I don't think that
- 57:27looks too good. So all you can do is
- 57:28click on the image and then just go to
- 57:30remove background and that will just
- 57:32remove the entire background for you. go
- 57:34up to this section here and then just go
- 57:36for a basic shape. And then you can just
- 57:38pull a shape in over the top. So let's
- 57:40go ahead and put this right in the
- 57:41middle of our design. Pull it all the
- 57:43way down to the bottom and then just
- 57:45send it backwards a little bit. You can
- 57:47actually do that by clicking these three
- 57:48buttons here. And then just press uh
- 57:50forward or backward or the shortcut on
- 57:52the keyboard that I just used. And you
- 57:53can kind of have whatever color
- 57:55background you want. So this first
- 57:56design I kind of had a cyan text with a
- 57:58yellow background. We've now got a
- 58:00slightly more blue text here. So, let's
- 58:02have a play around and just see the kind
- 58:04of uh the colors that we like. So, click
- 58:06onto here and then change this color and
- 58:08you'll be able to see the color change
- 58:09um however you want to. So, there's kind
- 58:11of a green background there. I think
- 58:13orange is probably going to look quite
- 58:14good um against the blue text. So, donut
- 58:17ever change. You can have a color a
- 58:19little bit like this. So, that's
- 58:20basically an example of using um the
- 58:22image and then having a solid color
- 58:24background. You can go up to here and
- 58:25actually add it to either a linear
- 58:27gradient or you can have it as a radial
- 58:29gradient. I quite like the radial
- 58:31gradients. Um, so if you make this
- 58:33yellow on the end, push this all the way
- 58:35to the back. That's basically going to
- 58:36give us, it starts quite dark, but then
- 58:38comes out yellow um, in the end. I think
- 58:41dark looks pretty bad. So if we just
- 58:42make this a little bit whiter, just pull
- 58:44this all the way up to the top. As you
- 58:45can see now, rather than just having a
- 58:47solid yellow background, we have a
- 58:48little bit of kind of a radial gradient
- 58:50to it, which is exactly what I've done
- 58:52in this one here. So that's just example
- 58:54of one front cover that you can do. You
- 58:56can change, you know, the background
- 58:57color. You can change the actual image
- 58:59itself. Let's just say you wanted to
- 59:01make this background um blue rather than
- 59:04yellow. So, we're going to go ahead and
- 59:05change this yellow. Let's make this
- 59:06blue. Something like that. The text
- 59:09doesn't really stand out too well, but
- 59:11that's an example of when you would go
- 59:12back to these designs here and just take
- 59:14a text that's maybe yellow or a
- 59:16different kind of color that's going to
- 59:17stand out better. Literally just go and
- 59:19convert this one into image. Bring it
- 59:21all the way down to your design. Take
- 59:23this one out. move this one into
- 59:26position. Just go ahead and remove the
- 59:28background. And now we have a blue
- 59:30version of our front cover. So you can
- 59:32literally mix and match yourself. You
- 59:33can maybe upload something like this
- 59:35color scheme for a week, see how it
- 59:37does. If it's not selling too well, you
- 59:39can very easily go ahead and change the
- 59:40colors until you find a book cover that
- 59:42you know converts pretty well. You have
- 59:44complete flexibility and, you know,
- 59:46creativity of exactly what what you want
- 59:48it to look like. And for this example
- 59:49book cover here, it's exactly the same
- 59:51process. I just chose a different
- 59:53design. So, I decided to go for the
- 59:55espresso yourself because I think this
- 59:56kind of phrase speaks to a potential
- 59:58buyer a lot more um when they're just
- 1:00:00browsing on Amazon. So, we want this
- 1:00:02design to be the one that kind of stands
- 1:00:04out on the front of the book cover.
- 1:00:06Again, I literally just went ahead
- 1:00:07clicked into this artboard here. It's
- 1:00:09important you don't click on the image
- 1:00:10cuz you're not going to get the
- 1:00:11smartboard um option here. You need to
- 1:00:14click into the actual number right on
- 1:00:15the top left. I then just press
- 1:00:17smartboard here which generated this
- 1:00:19smartboard and I just said again color
- 1:00:21in this image and it gave me this. Now
- 1:00:23for me this espresso cup was a little
- 1:00:25bit too dark. Obviously the espresso
- 1:00:27itself is probably meant to be dark but
- 1:00:29the cup should probably be a little bit
- 1:00:30lighter. So this was the original image
- 1:00:32it created me. I then just said make the
- 1:00:34cup a little bit lighter and that gave
- 1:00:36me this option here. And then I wanted
- 1:00:38to change the text. So I just said make
- 1:00:40the text light red and this is the final
- 1:00:43design that I got. I then just press
- 1:00:44convert to image and that generated me
- 1:00:47this Espresso yourself image that I then
- 1:00:49dragged down and added to the front of
- 1:00:52my book cover. And that's exactly how I
- 1:00:54made this one. Super easy and super
- 1:00:56straightforward to do. And now for the
- 1:00:58back cover of your overall um book cover
- 1:01:00design. I actually don't think it's
- 1:01:02anywhere near as important as the front
- 1:01:03cover. You want to have a cool image on
- 1:01:05the front for sure. But the back image
- 1:01:07for a coloring book like this, you kind
- 1:01:08of have two options. You can either just
- 1:01:10show you know the uh kind of images that
- 1:01:12you get inside the book itself just in
- 1:01:14their raw form. So as you can see all of
- 1:01:16these um are just previous designs that
- 1:01:18I had before. So let's just say I want
- 1:01:20to take this olive one. I love you.
- 1:01:22Olive view is kind of what it's going
- 1:01:24for. We literally just go ahead and
- 1:01:26press duplicate here. And that's going
- 1:01:27to basically make us a second version of
- 1:01:29this. Drag this all the way down to our
- 1:01:32file. And then you can just drop this on
- 1:01:33the back cover and kind of arrange it
- 1:01:35kind of as you want to. That is one
- 1:01:37option. Or you can go for the second
- 1:01:38option here, which is where you have the
- 1:01:40colored in versions. I probably think
- 1:01:42this is going to be a little bit better
- 1:01:44because it just shows, you know, the
- 1:01:46person what the end result could be when
- 1:01:48they're coloring the images in. You can
- 1:01:49see the white background here with the
- 1:01:51white pages, but they can kind of design
- 1:01:53the actual image itself in whatever
- 1:01:55color that they want. And it's exactly
- 1:01:57the same process. Let's just take this
- 1:01:59jamming one. This is the design that I
- 1:02:01wanted to have on my back cover, but I
- 1:02:03wanted to have a colored in version. I
- 1:02:05just press smartboard. I went down to
- 1:02:06the smartboard that it generated and
- 1:02:08again just said color this image and
- 1:02:11that is the image that it generated. I
- 1:02:12then just press convert to image and
- 1:02:14pull this all the way down and put this
- 1:02:16in my book file and that is exactly how
- 1:02:19I made this coloring book. So in less
- 1:02:21than an hour I literally went from zero
- 1:02:23with absolutely no ideas of what I
- 1:02:26wanted to do. I got all the phrases that
- 1:02:28I wanted in chat GPT. I then got chat
- 1:02:30GPT to create all of the different
- 1:02:32prompts for me and then put all of the
- 1:02:34different prompts into KD to generate
- 1:02:36all of these different designs using
- 1:02:38their very own artboard. And that was my
- 1:02:40interior literally done in hardly any
- 1:02:42time at all. And then I then had to
- 1:02:44create the front cover for the book. So
- 1:02:47I did it as I showed you there. And I
- 1:02:48just wanted to have colored images of
- 1:02:51exactly the designs that you can expect
- 1:02:52in the book, but one of them to be on
- 1:02:54the front cover. And the easy way to do
- 1:02:56that is literally just go in to click on
- 1:02:58the image that you want, generate a
- 1:02:59smartboard, and then just literally say
- 1:03:02color this image in and then it
- 1:03:03literally just colors in the image in
- 1:03:05for you without you having to do
- 1:03:07anything else in a matter of seconds.
- 1:03:08Now, before a tool like KD existed, you
- 1:03:11would have to outsource all of this work
- 1:03:12to Fiverr. As you can see, this person's
- 1:03:14got a gig that says, "I will draw unique
- 1:03:16digital coloring pages for children."
- 1:03:18One coloring page is £12 per image. So
- 1:03:21you're looking at around £600 700 to get
- 1:03:2450 images created for a book like this.
- 1:03:26But with KD, it's less than $20 a month
- 1:03:29and you can make as many of these
- 1:03:30designs as you want. And that's just the
- 1:03:32interior. When it comes to actually
- 1:03:34creating the book cover, you again need
- 1:03:36to outsource this. It's going to cost
- 1:03:37you hundreds of pounds and hundreds of
- 1:03:39dollars to do, but you can not only do
- 1:03:41it significantly quicker in Kit, but for
- 1:03:43significantly less cost. So now we've
- 1:03:46got our interior images and our coloring
- 1:03:47pages completely done. We've also got
- 1:03:49our book cover completely done. There's
- 1:03:51only one final thing we need to do and
- 1:03:53that is just introduce the book here and
- 1:03:55then also have our color bleed through
- 1:03:57pages. So all you want to do to create
- 1:03:59this first cover here again I've just
- 1:04:01gone in added in an artboard just like
- 1:04:02this. Changed it to 8.5 by 8.5 so it's
- 1:04:07exactly the same size as the rest of the
- 1:04:09design. Popped it over here. I've then
- 1:04:11gone into this text here. Just gone in
- 1:04:13and added a headline or add a paragraph.
- 1:04:15It doesn't really matter. And I've gone
- 1:04:16ahead and just typed in an intro page
- 1:04:18because when you think about opening a
- 1:04:20book um that you have from Amazon, the
- 1:04:22first page is always going to be a
- 1:04:24right-hand page, but we want all of our
- 1:04:26designs to be on the right hand page and
- 1:04:28the left pages to be left blank for
- 1:04:30bleed through. So, we're going to use
- 1:04:31that first initial right-hand page just
- 1:04:33to introduce the book and communicate
- 1:04:35with the customer a little bit. So, I've
- 1:04:37just said whether you're feeling great
- 1:04:38in yourself or if life's feeling a
- 1:04:39little too much at the moment, this
- 1:04:40coloring book has been designed to help
- 1:04:42you relax and escape the noise of the
- 1:04:44outside world. Immerse yourself in the
- 1:04:46coloring and the humor. Give yourself
- 1:04:47some time to unwind and use this as an
- 1:04:49opportunity to give yourself a break
- 1:04:51from whatever you're experiencing life.
- 1:04:53You've got this. Because the sort of
- 1:04:54person that's going to be looking to buy
- 1:04:55a book like this is buying it cuz they
- 1:04:57want to just kind of detach from the
- 1:04:58noise of the outside world. Probably
- 1:05:00might have a little bit of anxiety. They
- 1:05:01want to have just a little bit of stress
- 1:05:03relief and forget about everything and
- 1:05:04just immerse themselves in the coloring.
- 1:05:06Being able to speak exactly to your
- 1:05:08ideal customer on the first page just
- 1:05:11adds so much more credibility to your
- 1:05:13book. So that's what the first page is
- 1:05:14going to look like. Then the first
- 1:05:16lefthand page here is just going to be a
- 1:05:18note that says all left pages in this
- 1:05:20book have been left blank to prevent
- 1:05:22color bleed through. I then said feel
- 1:05:24free to leave them blank or you're
- 1:05:25welcome to test colors or create your
- 1:05:26own doodles if you wish. Cuz if you put
- 1:05:28every single left page with just a bit
- 1:05:31of text there. I've sometimes had bad
- 1:05:33reviews from people saying, "I wish you
- 1:05:34just told me that on the first page and
- 1:05:36then left all of them blank and then
- 1:05:37they can kind of create doodles or test
- 1:05:39their colors or whatever it is they want
- 1:05:41to do." So, all I'm doing is just having
- 1:05:43this one page at the start that tells
- 1:05:45them why every single left page is going
- 1:05:47to be left blank. And you might have
- 1:05:48noticed that I haven't actually included
- 1:05:50those blank pages in this design here
- 1:05:52because we're going to go ahead and do
- 1:05:53that in just a second in a way that's
- 1:05:54way quicker than doing it manually in
- 1:05:56Kit. So, we're happy with all of the
- 1:05:58designs that we want to actually export
- 1:06:00this into a design that we can upload to
- 1:06:01Amazon. All you want to do is go ahead
- 1:06:03and press this button here, then go down
- 1:06:05to PDF, and then combine all artboards
- 1:06:08into one file. is going to download all
- 1:06:10of these into one file. And if we're
- 1:06:12just doing the interior, we want to make
- 1:06:14sure we go all the way down and uncclick
- 1:06:16the images that we created that we're
- 1:06:18not going to have in our interior. These
- 1:06:20were all just made for the book cover
- 1:06:22itself. So, we're going to go ahead and
- 1:06:23deselect all of these. And then that
- 1:06:25leaves us with 52 artboards. So, we have
- 1:06:28our 50 designs. We then have our one,
- 1:06:30you know, color bleed through page. And
- 1:06:32then we also have our one intro page. 52
- 1:06:34pages. Then what I recommend you do is
- 1:06:36actually increase the DPI to 300. That's
- 1:06:39what we're going to go for here.
- 1:06:40Optimize quality. And then just go ahead
- 1:06:42and press download. And then that's
- 1:06:44going to go ahead and download a file
- 1:06:45with all of these images in that we need
- 1:06:47to do one other thing before we can then
- 1:06:49upload it to Amazon KDP. And that is go
- 1:06:51to a merge PDF uh tool online. These are
- 1:06:53completely free. I'll leave this one
- 1:06:55linked down below in the description as
- 1:06:56well. Go ahead and just select the PDF
- 1:06:58file that you just downloaded from KD.
- 1:07:00And it's just going to come out in a way
- 1:07:02that's super easy to organize. Now, for
- 1:07:03some reason, when you export from KD, it
- 1:07:05is a little bit clunky. the the the
- 1:07:07exporting is a little bit random. I
- 1:07:09haven't quite got my head around it, but
- 1:07:10this is such an easy solution um to any
- 1:07:12of that and it literally takes, you
- 1:07:13know, less than a minute to do. Go ahead
- 1:07:15and then just put everything in order.
- 1:07:17So, this is the first page that we want.
- 1:07:18We then want our first left page to be
- 1:07:20this bleed through um text. Then, we
- 1:07:22have our designs. We're going to go
- 1:07:23ahead and after every single design,
- 1:07:25just go in and add a blank page after
- 1:07:27it. And this is exactly what our design
- 1:07:29will look like. So, every single
- 1:07:30coloring image is going to be on the
- 1:07:31right hand page. Then, we're going to
- 1:07:33have a left one with just either blank
- 1:07:34or with this message here. So, left
- 1:07:36page, right page, left page, right page.
- 1:07:38And you can go ahead and order these
- 1:07:40images in whatever you want to. So, it
- 1:07:41doesn't really matter if it's a book
- 1:07:43like this because there's no
- 1:07:43chronological order to it. So, but if
- 1:07:45you wanted to have this spill the tea
- 1:07:46one um instead of here, you can move
- 1:07:48that down there and then just move this
- 1:07:50ketchup one there. Completely depends,
- 1:07:52you know, the order that you want. But
- 1:07:53I'm happy with this um for this example.
- 1:07:55Then just go ahead and press organize.
- 1:07:58It's going to download this PDF for you.
- 1:07:59And then that is the file that you're
- 1:08:01going to go ahead and upload to Amazon
- 1:08:02KDP as your interior. Then the book
- 1:08:04cover is a lot more straightforward. Go
- 1:08:06back into your KD board again. Go down
- 1:08:08to this export button and then rather
- 1:08:11than selecting all artboards, the only
- 1:08:12one we want to actually export is this
- 1:08:14artboard 60. So just go all the way down
- 1:08:16until you can find the artboard 60,
- 1:08:19which is this one here. Download it as a
- 1:08:21PDF optimized background. Again, just go
- 1:08:23ahead and press download. And then here
- 1:08:25is that exact book cover that you can go
- 1:08:26ahead and upload straight to Amazon KDP.
- 1:08:29So up to this point, we've understood
- 1:08:30what Amazon KDP is. We've done our
- 1:08:32research. should know exactly what book
- 1:08:34we're making. We've uh used KD to go
- 1:08:36ahead and actually bring that book to
- 1:08:38life. The next step is actually
- 1:08:39uploading that book to Amazon. Oh, to
- 1:08:42upload your Amazon KDB book, all you
- 1:08:44want to do is go to your Amazon KDB
- 1:08:45dashboard. That's kdp.amazon.com
- 1:08:48and then go ahead and just press create
- 1:08:50new title or series. And what we're
- 1:08:51doing is we're going to be creating a
- 1:08:53physical book. So, we're going to be
- 1:08:54creating paperback. So, just go ahead
- 1:08:56and press create paperback. And that
- 1:08:58will then take you to this screen. Now,
- 1:09:00there's three tabs you need to do to go
- 1:09:01ahead and actually upload your book. The
- 1:09:03first one is the paperback details. So,
- 1:09:05put in your book title and subtitle. Um,
- 1:09:07your author name you also need to put
- 1:09:09in. You need to add in a book
- 1:09:10description. Um, and you know,
- 1:09:12publishing rights. You do have that
- 1:09:13primary audience. I'll work through all
- 1:09:15of these one by one as we go through.
- 1:09:17Now, the first thing you need to do is
- 1:09:18your book title. Now, this is actually
- 1:09:20very very important because the book
- 1:09:22title is one of the strongest ways of
- 1:09:24ranking organically on Amazon KDP
- 1:09:26because you want to make sure you have
- 1:09:28really good keywords that have really
- 1:09:30high search volume in your title because
- 1:09:32if you have those in your title, Amazon
- 1:09:34are going to know what book it is and
- 1:09:36they're going to push it to the right
- 1:09:37people. So again, you want to make sure
- 1:09:39your book title describes the book that
- 1:09:41you've got. It actually makes sense. but
- 1:09:43it crucially contains keywords with
- 1:09:45really high search volume, which is why
- 1:09:47we're now going to have to go back to
- 1:09:48self-publishing titans and find exactly
- 1:09:51what those keywords are. So, if I just
- 1:09:52go back to self-publishing titans, as
- 1:09:54you can see here, I've just typed in
- 1:09:56food coloring book again, and we want to
- 1:09:58find keywords with a really high search
- 1:10:00volume. So, ours is a food coloring book
- 1:10:02for adults. So, this is definitely one
- 1:10:04we're going to want to put in because a,
- 1:10:05it's super relevant to our book, and it
- 1:10:08also has a really good search volume.
- 1:10:10So, we're just going to go and make sure
- 1:10:12we add in food coloring book for adults.
- 1:10:14That's definitely going to be one. Food
- 1:10:16coloring book bold and easy. Again,
- 1:10:17that's another one. So, we want to
- 1:10:19probably make sure we include the term
- 1:10:21bold and easy in our title and subtitle
- 1:10:23as well. As you can see, 4,000 searches
- 1:10:25for that. As you can see, food coloring
- 1:10:27book, drink, sweet. If we want to
- 1:10:29include the word drinks and sweet in our
- 1:10:31title or subtitle, that could also be a
- 1:10:33good one because this keyword is getting
- 1:10:35a lot of searches every single month.
- 1:10:36So, the goal with kind of building out
- 1:10:38your title and subtitle is making sure
- 1:10:40it makes sense relative to what your
- 1:10:42book is, but also make sure you're
- 1:10:43sneaking in keywords that have really
- 1:10:45high search volume, which again is why
- 1:10:47self-publishing titan is an absolute
- 1:10:49must when it comes to having an Amazon
- 1:10:51KDP business. So, I'm going to go back
- 1:10:52over to Amazon KDP now, create a title
- 1:10:55and subtitle, and then come back and
- 1:10:56explain exactly what I've done. So, as
- 1:10:58you can see, the title I've gone for is
- 1:11:00Espresso Yourself, and the subtitle is
- 1:11:02funny food coloring book for adults. 50
- 1:11:04unique bold and easy designs for stress
- 1:11:06relief and relaxation. Now, one thing I
- 1:11:08will mention here is the book title you
- 1:11:10actually have has to appear on the front
- 1:11:12cover. So, if you go back to um the
- 1:11:15example that I showed you earlier, the
- 1:11:16front cover just actually says espresso
- 1:11:18yourself. So, back in the day, you would
- 1:11:20usually keyword stuff your book title,
- 1:11:22but it really doesn't matter too much
- 1:11:23anymore because as long as it's the
- 1:11:25keywords are in your subtitle, that is
- 1:11:27absolutely fine. And so our book title
- 1:11:28is going to be Espresso yourself funny
- 1:11:30food coloring book for adults 50 unique
- 1:11:32bold and easy designs for stress relief
- 1:11:34and relaxation. So if I just go over to
- 1:11:36an example on Amazon KDP you can see
- 1:11:38where the title and subtitles are.
- 1:11:40Anything before the colon here is the
- 1:11:42title. So this book is just called
- 1:11:44stress relief. So the fact ours is
- 1:11:46called espresso yourself is absolutely
- 1:11:48fine. They've then put in their keywords
- 1:11:50behind to improve their organic
- 1:11:52rankings. So they've gone for coloring
- 1:11:53book for adults and kids. They've also
- 1:11:54gone for bold and easy, simple, big
- 1:11:56designs, relaxation, animals, landscape,
- 1:11:58flowers, patterns, cute things, and many
- 1:12:00more. So, they're using exactly the same
- 1:12:02strategy that I'm suggesting that you
- 1:12:03use. So, I'm going to walk through
- 1:12:05exactly why we've used some of these
- 1:12:07things in our subtitle. Firstly, we've
- 1:12:09got the keyword food coloring book for
- 1:12:11adults, which, as we saw on
- 1:12:12self-publishing titans, is a really high
- 1:12:14search volume keyword. So, we want to
- 1:12:16make sure that is in our title as well.
- 1:12:18Food coloring book bold and easy is also
- 1:12:20a really high search volume keyword.
- 1:12:234,155
- 1:12:24searches every single month. So, I've
- 1:12:26also gone in and included the terms bold
- 1:12:28and easy. So, how Amazon will basically
- 1:12:29do this is they'll see the words bold
- 1:12:31and easy and the term food coloring book
- 1:12:33for adults and link these two together.
- 1:12:35So, we will also index with the keyword
- 1:12:37food coloring book for adults, bold and
- 1:12:39easy, which is exactly what that keyword
- 1:12:41showed us just then. You do want to make
- 1:12:43sure you're not stuffing in too many
- 1:12:44keywords so it starts reading a little
- 1:12:46bit weird which is exactly why I've not
- 1:12:47included the word drinks and sweet in
- 1:12:49there because it would just look as
- 1:12:51though I'm kind of stuffing as many
- 1:12:52things in. I can definitely include
- 1:12:54these in my seven backend keyword boxes
- 1:12:56which I will show you in just a second.
- 1:12:58But I also went to self-publishing
- 1:13:00titans and just typed in funny coloring
- 1:13:01book to see if the term funny coloring
- 1:13:03book is also a really good keyword. And
- 1:13:05as you can see, there are a lot of
- 1:13:07search results, but there is ridiculous
- 1:13:09amount of search volume, 14,930
- 1:13:12searches every single month for the
- 1:13:14keyword funny coloring book. So, I
- 1:13:16wanted to make sure in mine I had the
- 1:13:18keyword funny and also within uh the
- 1:13:20subtitle also had the word coloring
- 1:13:22book. So, I would index for this
- 1:13:24keyword. So, as you can see, funny food
- 1:13:26coloring book. I've got funny there and
- 1:13:28I've also got coloring book there. So,
- 1:13:30we're going to index for that keyword.
- 1:13:31And as you can see at the end here, I've
- 1:13:33also said stress relief and relaxation
- 1:13:35because I also searched in stress relief
- 1:13:37coloring book onto self-publishing
- 1:13:39titles. As you can see, 18,573
- 1:13:42search volume for stress relief coloring
- 1:13:44book, stress relief coloring book for
- 1:13:45adults. So huge demand going through the
- 1:13:48keyword stress relief coloring book. And
- 1:13:50exactly the same um for relaxation or
- 1:13:53relaxing, you know, depends which one
- 1:13:54you want to go for. I've gone for
- 1:13:56relaxation. Relaxation coloring book
- 1:13:5818,000 search volume. So within this,
- 1:14:00you know, title and subtitle, yes, it
- 1:14:03makes sense. Espresso yourself is the
- 1:14:05name of the book. Funny food coloring
- 1:14:06book for adults. 50 unique, bold, and
- 1:14:08easy designs for stress relief and
- 1:14:10relaxation. This reads really well for
- 1:14:12the average person. I just think, "Oh,
- 1:14:13that's a cool description of the book."
- 1:14:15But what we're actually doing is we're
- 1:14:16describing the book and we're also
- 1:14:18putting in some really high ranking
- 1:14:20keywords so we can hopefully rank as
- 1:14:22well as we possibly can organically. So
- 1:14:24that's kind of the science behind your
- 1:14:26book title. That's one way in which your
- 1:14:28book can rank. Now, another way your
- 1:14:29book can rank is by filling out these
- 1:14:31seven keyword boxes. So, I'll get to
- 1:14:33this in just a second, but there's a few
- 1:14:34things we need to do before we do that.
- 1:14:36So, we're going to go for that as our
- 1:14:37book title and subtitle. The author, you
- 1:14:40can literally go ahead and type in
- 1:14:41whatever you want to here. So, that this
- 1:14:43is called a pen name. It can be your
- 1:14:45actual name. It can be a random name
- 1:14:47that you make up. It can be a random
- 1:14:48brand name you make up. Just make sure
- 1:14:50it's not a name that is trademarked,
- 1:14:52copyrighted, or, you know, is a
- 1:14:54competitor's uh name cuz you can get in
- 1:14:56trouble for that. For this example, I'm
- 1:14:58just going to go, you could put
- 1:14:59something like I'm looking ahead. Um,
- 1:15:02I've got a white frame in front of me,
- 1:15:04so I could go for white frame press.
- 1:15:07Could be the name of your It could be
- 1:15:09your pen name. So, it's called White
- 1:15:10Name Press. And if you go to here,
- 1:15:12that's exactly where it will say it. It
- 1:15:13will say by White Frame Press. This
- 1:15:16person's obviously gone in and typed in
- 1:15:18uh Coco uh YO. As you can see here,
- 1:15:21that's probably their name or their
- 1:15:22brand name, but it depends whatever you
- 1:15:23want to go for. But for this example,
- 1:15:25we're just going to go for uh White
- 1:15:27Frame Press. That's not I'm assuming
- 1:15:29that's not trademarked. So, we're going
- 1:15:30to go ahead and that contributors, you
- 1:15:32can leave this blank. Addition number,
- 1:15:34you can also leave that blank. And the
- 1:15:35same with series, especially if this is
- 1:15:37your first book. And now we move on to
- 1:15:39the description, which is a really
- 1:15:40important part because the description
- 1:15:42is going to help contribute to
- 1:15:43converting someone to actually buying
- 1:15:44your book. So, we just go back to here.
- 1:15:46This is the description here. So,
- 1:15:48whatever we put in to this box here is
- 1:15:50what's going to appear here. So, within
- 1:15:52a description, there's a couple of
- 1:15:53things you want to remember. Don't just
- 1:15:55fully describe your book and say how
- 1:15:57amazing it is because that's just not
- 1:15:59really good copywriting at all,
- 1:16:01especially when it comes to kind of
- 1:16:02sales copy. You want to make sure you're
- 1:16:04calling out your ideal customer so they
- 1:16:06can, you know, see the description, read
- 1:16:08it, and think, "Okay, this is exactly
- 1:16:10for me." You also want to make sure and
- 1:16:12include how the book actually solves
- 1:16:14those customers problems. So, if it's a
- 1:16:16relaxation coloring book like the one
- 1:16:18that we've got, the problems they're
- 1:16:19going to have is maybe the customer is
- 1:16:21quite stressed. They're looking for
- 1:16:22something to take their minds off
- 1:16:23things. These are the kind of things
- 1:16:25that you want to include in your book
- 1:16:27description. So, this is the description
- 1:16:29that I put together. It just says, "Need
- 1:16:30something easy and fun that actually
- 1:16:32helps you switch off straight away."
- 1:16:34That calls out exactly my ideal customer
- 1:16:37and calls out their pain points. they're
- 1:16:39someone that just can't switch off and
- 1:16:41they're looking for something that's fun
- 1:16:42but also does allow them to switch off
- 1:16:44and just relax a little bit. So,
- 1:16:46straight away in the description, we've
- 1:16:47not said, "Oh, book is the best book
- 1:16:49ever. You know, you should buy it
- 1:16:51because I think it's great." We've
- 1:16:52called out specifically their issues,
- 1:16:54which straight away gets their
- 1:16:55attention. I've then gone and explained
- 1:16:57a little bit more about the book. I've
- 1:16:58said, "This food coloring book is
- 1:16:59designed for people who want to relax
- 1:17:00without thinking too hard." Again, uh
- 1:17:03handling a potential objection that they
- 1:17:05might have. No complicated patterns, no
- 1:17:07pressure to be artistic. Again, people
- 1:17:09might want to avoid coloring books
- 1:17:11because they feel like they're not very
- 1:17:12good at drawing or very good at
- 1:17:13coloring. Again, we've handled that
- 1:17:15objection there. Just funny food puns,
- 1:17:18bold illustrations, and satisfying pages
- 1:17:20that will help your brain slow down.
- 1:17:22Again, selling the benefit of slowing
- 1:17:24down their brain. That's exactly why
- 1:17:26they're here for a book like this. So,
- 1:17:28as you can see, this description is very
- 1:17:30geared towards a specific customer and
- 1:17:32targeting their pain points. Each page
- 1:17:34pairs a clever laugh out loud pun with a
- 1:17:37cute design that's simple to color and
- 1:17:39genuinely calming. And then we go into a
- 1:17:41bullet point section. I generally
- 1:17:42recommend always including bullet point
- 1:17:44sections here. We've just said this book
- 1:17:46has been designed to help be calm a busy
- 1:17:48and overthinking mind. Break screen
- 1:17:50scrolling habits. Reduce stress after
- 1:17:52long days. Relax without feeling
- 1:17:54unproductive. Laugh a little while you
- 1:17:56un unwind. All five of these things are
- 1:17:59going to be the exact things that our
- 1:18:01potential customer has either had issues
- 1:18:03with or wants to, you know, get from a
- 1:18:05product, i.e. the book like ours. So,
- 1:18:07we're calling out exactly our customer.
- 1:18:10I've just finished it off. Whether
- 1:18:11you're burnt out from work, stuck in
- 1:18:13your head, or just want a break that
- 1:18:14doesn't involve another screen, this
- 1:18:16book gives you a simple way to relax,
- 1:18:18reset, and feel better. So, rather than
- 1:18:19me just saying, "This book contains 50
- 1:18:22images, and all the designs are great,
- 1:18:23and you're not going to find them
- 1:18:24anywhere else." A description like that
- 1:18:26doesn't help the customer at all. That's
- 1:18:28just me showing off my book. They don't
- 1:18:30care about my book. Someone only buys
- 1:18:33something online because it solves a
- 1:18:35problem for them. Anything you buy
- 1:18:37online ultimately boils down to that.
- 1:18:39So, when you're building out your book
- 1:18:41description, it's really important you
- 1:18:43understand the problems that your
- 1:18:44customer has and you really call it out.
- 1:18:47So, if you want to use this kind of
- 1:18:48template um for your books and just
- 1:18:50change the wording and change the things
- 1:18:52based on the book that you're making,
- 1:18:54then feel free to do so. It's a pretty
- 1:18:55good way of doing it and that's how I
- 1:18:57recommend you write your book
- 1:18:58description. You then want to move on to
- 1:18:59the next section, which is publishing
- 1:19:00rights. You want to make sure that you
- 1:19:02you say you own the copyright because
- 1:19:03you do. You've created the book
- 1:19:04yourself. You own the rights. Primary
- 1:19:06audience, you want to select if there's
- 1:19:08any explicit images or in the title. In
- 1:19:10this case, we're going to go for no. And
- 1:19:12then reading age is entirely up to you
- 1:19:14what you want to go for. For me
- 1:19:15personally, this can be for kids or for
- 1:19:17adults, it doesn't really matter. So,
- 1:19:18I'm not going to select a reading age.
- 1:19:20If you had a book that was just for like
- 1:19:22kids age 8 to 12, then you would go in
- 1:19:24and select 8 and 12 here. Um, this helps
- 1:19:26Amazon identify a little bit more about
- 1:19:28your book. But this is definitely a book
- 1:19:29that um kids can use and also adults can
- 1:19:32use. But with that said, if we're going
- 1:19:33to use adults in the title, I would
- 1:19:35actually generally recommend for
- 1:19:36something like this, we do go ahead and
- 1:19:38add the re add the reading age in. So,
- 1:19:40we're going to go for, you know, 16
- 1:19:42years old. Although technically you're
- 1:19:4418 as an adult, but anyone who's 16 is
- 1:19:46probably also going to be interested in
- 1:19:48a book like this. So, we're going to go
- 1:19:49for a minimum 16 with no maximum. You
- 1:19:52then want to select your primary
- 1:19:53marketplace. Now, I would generally
- 1:19:55always recommend Amazon.com. This is
- 1:19:57basically the location where you expect
- 1:19:59the majority of your book sales. Don't
- 1:20:01worry, when you upload this, it will go
- 1:20:02onto every single one of these Amazon
- 1:20:05sites by default. You just have to
- 1:20:07select a primary one. I would always
- 1:20:09choose Amazon.com. It's by far the
- 1:20:11biggest market. it's the US market
- 1:20:13unless you had a book that was
- 1:20:14specifically for the UK or you had a
- 1:20:17book that was German or for the German
- 1:20:19market. In that case, I would select the
- 1:20:21individual territory. But generally,
- 1:20:23always just go for amazon.com
- 1:20:25categories. Then we're going to go ahead
- 1:20:26and choose some categories for your
- 1:20:28book. This again just helps Amazon
- 1:20:29understand a little bit more about what
- 1:20:31your book actually is. So for us, we're
- 1:20:33going to go into the category of crafts,
- 1:20:36hobbies, and homes. As you can see,
- 1:20:37there are some options here, but they're
- 1:20:39not necessarily what we want for
- 1:20:40coloring books for grown-ups. And as you
- 1:20:42can see, there's loads of different
- 1:20:43categories that we can choose here.
- 1:20:44There's nothing specifically for uh food
- 1:20:47coloring. So, we're just going to go
- 1:20:48ahead and press general. So, Amazon now
- 1:20:50knows that we have got a coloring book
- 1:20:52for grown-ups, and that's exactly what
- 1:20:54it's going to kind of show. Um, it's
- 1:20:56going to push our books to people who
- 1:20:57are looking for something like that.
- 1:20:58Does your book can classify as one of
- 1:21:00these types, a low content book? No,
- 1:21:02it's a coloring book. And no, it isn't
- 1:21:04large print because again, it's a
- 1:21:05coloring book. So, if you're doing a
- 1:21:06journal or something like that, you
- 1:21:08would maybe tick these, but I generally
- 1:21:10recommend staying away from those. So,
- 1:21:11if you're uploading a coloring book,
- 1:21:13don't worry about ticking any of these.
- 1:21:15And now we come to our seven backend
- 1:21:17keyword boxes. So, it says here, choose
- 1:21:19up to seven keywords highlighting your
- 1:21:21book's unique traits. Keywords are
- 1:21:22equally typically short phrases up to 50
- 1:21:25characters that customers use to narrow
- 1:21:27their search book to narrow their book
- 1:21:29search on Amazon. For example, medieval
- 1:21:31fantasy book. So, in these keywords, we
- 1:21:34essentially want to find loads of
- 1:21:35potential search terms that people would
- 1:21:37be searching into Amazon to find our
- 1:21:39book. Because just like we've done with
- 1:21:41our title, we want to rank for as many
- 1:21:43of these keywords as possible. So, you
- 1:21:45guessed it, we're now going to go back
- 1:21:47over to self-publishing titans and find
- 1:21:49as many of these keywords as possible.
- 1:21:50So, again, without self-publishing
- 1:21:52titans, this is the sort of thing where
- 1:21:53you would go in and just put in load of
- 1:21:55random keywords and have no idea if
- 1:21:56people are actually searching for them.
- 1:21:58But this really long process is just
- 1:22:00made super easy and super quick with
- 1:22:02this because we have all of this data
- 1:22:04here. Now, we've got food coloring book
- 1:22:06um already in our title. So, we're going
- 1:22:08to go through and add in um a couple
- 1:22:10more that we didn't. So, this food
- 1:22:11coloring book drink suite. This is
- 1:22:13getting a lot of searches every single
- 1:22:15month. So, this is definitely one we're
- 1:22:16going to go ahead and copy and then just
- 1:22:18paste in as one of our keywords. What
- 1:22:20else have we got here? Maybe we're going
- 1:22:21to sort by opportunity and see what
- 1:22:23options we have. Food coloring book for
- 1:22:24kids. simple coloring book for adults
- 1:22:27food. For some reason, people are typing
- 1:22:29this into Amazon. As you can see, 5,000
- 1:22:31searches every single month. We're going
- 1:22:32to go back into here uh and put this in.
- 1:22:34Let's just go up here and type in uh
- 1:22:37simple food coloring book. Let's see if
- 1:22:39there are any suggestions off the back
- 1:22:41of this. So, as you can see, we've got
- 1:22:42simple food coloring book here. Now, it
- 1:22:45isn't actually a great opportunity. Only
- 1:22:47has an opportunity score of four. Um but
- 1:22:50not every single keyword needs to have a
- 1:22:51super high opportunity score. As long as
- 1:22:53the search volume is really high, we
- 1:22:55want to make sure we're indexing for
- 1:22:56this keyword, too. So, obviously, the
- 1:22:59the lower opportunity and the more
- 1:23:00search results we get, the less we're
- 1:23:02going to rank for that keyword, but we
- 1:23:04do want to make sure we're at least
- 1:23:05indexing for it because it shows Amazon
- 1:23:07that our book is related to this search
- 1:23:08term. So, we're going to go for simple
- 1:23:10food coloring book and we're going to go
- 1:23:11ahead and add that in. Let's just now go
- 1:23:13back to food coloring book again and
- 1:23:16seeing if there's any opportunities that
- 1:23:17we've missed. So, opportunity score
- 1:23:19again, 7 to 9 is pretty good. Um, simple
- 1:23:22coloring book for adults food. Um, as
- 1:23:25you can see here, healthy food coloring
- 1:23:27book. Um, anything else that we haven't
- 1:23:30put in? Food and food and drink simple
- 1:23:32coloring book. So, again, that could be
- 1:23:33an option. So, food and drink simple
- 1:23:35coloring book. Going to go ahead and put
- 1:23:36that one in. So, that's enough of food
- 1:23:38coloring book. Let's go back and look
- 1:23:40for something to do with relaxing. So,
- 1:23:42we'll go for that relaxing coloring book
- 1:23:44angle. Uh, opportunities have we got
- 1:23:46here? Relaxing aling coloring book for
- 1:23:48adults 101. Relaxing coloring book for
- 1:23:50kids bulk. So, nothing really here for
- 1:23:53us. You know, we've got these relaxing
- 1:23:55comic books for adults, as you can see,
- 1:23:57122 search volume, um, 2,000 search
- 1:24:00results, not a great opportunity score,
- 1:24:02and a really bad demand. So, let's try
- 1:24:05relaxation. So, I'm just leaving all of
- 1:24:08this in because I think it's useful for
- 1:24:09you to be able to see exactly um the
- 1:24:11process we're going through. So,
- 1:24:13relaxation coloring book for adults,
- 1:24:15really good one here. Opportunity score
- 1:24:16of nine, um, search volume of 6,000. So,
- 1:24:19we're going to go in and add this into
- 1:24:21our keyword box. So, now we only need
- 1:24:22two more. Let's have a look. Uh, nothing
- 1:24:25else for relaxation. So, let's go for
- 1:24:27stress
- 1:24:29relief. As you can see here, stress
- 1:24:31relief coloring book. You know, it has a
- 1:24:32lot of search volume, but there's also a
- 1:24:34lot of search results. So, not a great
- 1:24:36opportunity score. So, going to go ahead
- 1:24:38and sort this by opportunity score.
- 1:24:40Stress relief coloring book mini. Again,
- 1:24:42you want to make sure you're only
- 1:24:43including keywords that are actually
- 1:24:44related to your book and actually make
- 1:24:46sense. Stress release coloring book
- 1:24:48food. opportunity score of seven. So,
- 1:24:49that's someone we could potentially do,
- 1:24:51but we want to see if there's any other
- 1:24:53ones for us. So, in terms of the
- 1:24:55opportunity score, these don't look
- 1:24:56necessarily as good. Let's try uh adult
- 1:24:59coloring book. So, you're probably
- 1:25:00starting to see if you don't have
- 1:25:01self-publishing titans, this becomes a
- 1:25:03pretty much impossible task, which is
- 1:25:05why I think um it's absolutely essential
- 1:25:07that you have this for your KDP business
- 1:25:10because again, it gives you the data you
- 1:25:12need to get the right things in place
- 1:25:14for um making as many sales as possible.
- 1:25:16So let's again go to opportunity adult
- 1:25:19coloring book markers adult coloring
- 1:25:21book cat swearing. So again this could
- 1:25:23be a potential niche you go into um
- 1:25:25swearing coloring book uh swearing cats
- 1:25:27coloring book as you can see really good
- 1:25:29opportunity. So um when you're doing
- 1:25:31this you might come across potential
- 1:25:32books you make in the future. Again
- 1:25:34that's why this tool is so powerful. So
- 1:25:36after I upload this book this is
- 1:25:38definitely a book that I would look to
- 1:25:39go ahead and make a swearing cats
- 1:25:41coloring book. Let's just see actually
- 1:25:42while we're here if these books are
- 1:25:43actually selling well. So swearing cats
- 1:25:45coloring book. Let's go down to here. Uh
- 1:25:48let's see.
- 1:25:51Yeah, 53,000 74,000. So these ones are
- 1:25:54selling. Okay. So that is definitely an
- 1:25:55opportunity. So this just kind of shows
- 1:25:57um while you're finding keywords for one
- 1:26:00thing, you might actually find
- 1:26:01opportunities for something else. Adult
- 1:26:03coloring book funny quotes. There we go.
- 1:26:05That's a really good one for us.
- 1:26:06Opportunity score of nine. Ours is an
- 1:26:09adult coloring book with funny quotes.
- 1:26:12So let's go back to here. Drop this into
- 1:26:14keyword number six and just keep coming
- 1:26:16down with Marcus no bleed, men's cars,
- 1:26:18men's sports, set flowers, football,
- 1:26:21stoner, religious, um, easy funny. That
- 1:26:25could also be another one for us. Adult
- 1:26:26coloring book, easy funny. Uh, let's
- 1:26:30just see what else we've got. So, let's
- 1:26:33firstly just have a look at teen
- 1:26:35coloring book because although you know
- 1:26:37adults are going to like this book,
- 1:26:38you'd imagine teenagers would also like
- 1:26:40it as well. So, are there any potential
- 1:26:42um teen coloring book keywords that we
- 1:26:44could use? Teen coloring book boys 14 to
- 1:26:4718. So, that's definitely an opportunity
- 1:26:49for us. Doesn't seem to be anything else
- 1:26:52really. The reason why I'm not going to
- 1:26:53use this is because I kind of want to
- 1:26:55keep it specifically to adults
- 1:26:57relaxation or um you know, food. So,
- 1:27:00let's go for sweet treats coloring book
- 1:27:03because a lot of the designs in ours are
- 1:27:05kind of sweet treats. Sweet treats
- 1:27:07coloring book for kids. That would have
- 1:27:08been really good. Cute, sweet treats
- 1:27:10coloring book. There you go. Opportunity
- 1:27:11score of nine. This is exactly what
- 1:27:14we're going to use for our final keyword
- 1:27:15because it completely aligns with what
- 1:27:17our book is. Adorable sweet treats
- 1:27:20coloring book is also another keyword
- 1:27:21you could use. So actually this has even
- 1:27:23less search terms. So you can actually
- 1:27:25go ahead and use this one instead. But
- 1:27:27you can see now just how many keywords
- 1:27:28we're finding by using self-publishing
- 1:27:31titan. So adorable sweet treats coloring
- 1:27:33book. That's going to be our final
- 1:27:34keyword and we're going to go ahead and
- 1:27:35put that in there. So, not only are we
- 1:27:37indexing for loads of keywords in our
- 1:27:39subtitle and title, we're also going to
- 1:27:41be indexing for loads of these really
- 1:27:43good opportunity keywords in our backend
- 1:27:46seven keyword boxes. So, this does say
- 1:27:48optional. It is actually really, really
- 1:27:50important. So, I would definitely ensure
- 1:27:52you're filling these out and do exactly
- 1:27:54as I've done um in that example here.
- 1:27:56Publication date, keep that already
- 1:27:58checked. And then release date, exactly
- 1:28:00the same. Then just go ahead and press
- 1:28:01save and continue. And then you go to
- 1:28:03the next section, which is the paperback
- 1:28:05content. Now, I've actually already got
- 1:28:06an ISBN for this uh book, but it will
- 1:28:09basically say ISBN, and you want to go
- 1:28:10ahead and just press uh get a free ISBN.
- 1:28:13Press assign ISBN, and it will give you
- 1:28:15this number here. Completely free,
- 1:28:17absolutely fine. Um you want to go ahead
- 1:28:19and just press that. And then you have
- 1:28:21your printing options. You have four
- 1:28:22different options. You have black and
- 1:28:23white interior with cream paper, black
- 1:28:25and white interior with white paper,
- 1:28:26standard color interior with white
- 1:28:28paper, and then premium color interior
- 1:28:30with white paper. I always go for black
- 1:28:31and white interior with white paper.
- 1:28:33It's a coloring book. it's only going to
- 1:28:35be black and white and it also means you
- 1:28:37have the maximum uh margins uh when it
- 1:28:39comes to how much money you're making.
- 1:28:41You then have to select your trim size.
- 1:28:42So, there's so many different trim sizes
- 1:28:44that you can select here. As I showed
- 1:28:46you earlier on, we made an 8.5 by an 8.5
- 1:28:50books. That's a square book. The only
- 1:28:52other two that you probably might use
- 1:28:53are 6x9. This is an A5 book. Or you've
- 1:28:57got 8.5 by 11, which is here, and that
- 1:28:59is an A4 book. So generally 99% of your
- 1:29:03books are going to be either 6x9, 8.5 x
- 1:29:0511 or 8.5 by 8.5. This is square, this
- 1:29:09is A4, and this is A5.
- 1:29:12So we're going to go for 8.5 by 8.5.
- 1:29:15Bleed settings, we're going to go for no
- 1:29:17bleed. Bleed basically means is the
- 1:29:19interior of your book bleeding into the
- 1:29:21spine. So if you think about a notebook,
- 1:29:23the lines on a notebook or like a line
- 1:29:25journal end up in the middle of the
- 1:29:27spine. If that's the case for your book,
- 1:29:29then you would select bleed PDF only.
- 1:29:32Anything else like a coloring book, you
- 1:29:33would want to select no bleed. And then
- 1:29:35for the front cover of your book, you
- 1:29:37can upload it either as you can either
- 1:29:38have a matte finish or you can have a
- 1:29:40glossy finish. Doesn't really matter.
- 1:29:42Generally, mine I go for matte. I kind
- 1:29:44of like it looking um with a matte
- 1:29:46finish. And then you have the fun bit,
- 1:29:47which is uploading the actual interior
- 1:29:49of your book and also the book cover. So
- 1:29:51the manuscript, all you want to do is go
- 1:29:53ahead and press upload manuscript. I've
- 1:29:55already uploaded it here because I'm at
- 1:29:56home and my Wi-Fi is extremely slow. So,
- 1:29:58I've done this off camera to save you
- 1:30:00the pain of having to wait, you know, 20
- 1:30:02minutes for this to upload, but it
- 1:30:03should generally take you a couple of
- 1:30:04minutes unless your Wi-Fi is like mine
- 1:30:06and it's absolutely useless. So, go
- 1:30:08ahead and just upload that finalized um
- 1:30:10interior PDF that we just did a second
- 1:30:12ago. That's going to be your book
- 1:30:14interior and you move on to the book
- 1:30:15cover. By default, it will say use cover
- 1:30:18creator. You want to make sure you go
- 1:30:19down to upload a book cover you already
- 1:30:21have. go over to upload your book cover
- 1:30:23file and then select the file that we
- 1:30:25also created um in KD. As you can see,
- 1:30:27I've done that here with this espresso
- 1:30:29yourself. Again, this will take a couple
- 1:30:30of minutes to actually upload. So, be
- 1:30:32patient. Maybe go and make a cup of tea
- 1:30:34or something and then come back and it
- 1:30:35should all be done for you. And then
- 1:30:37finally, we have this AI generated
- 1:30:38content section here. This is not here
- 1:30:40to trip you up. You just need to be
- 1:30:42honest about how much AI you have used.
- 1:30:44So many people are worried that if they,
- 1:30:46you know, tell Amazon that they've used
- 1:30:47AI in their books, they're going to get
- 1:30:49banned or whatnot. just not the case at
- 1:30:51all. You just need to be honest with
- 1:30:52what you're using. So, in terms of ours,
- 1:30:54we didn't use any AI for text. We did
- 1:30:56use um AI for images. We're going to
- 1:30:58select many AI generated image with
- 1:31:00minimal or no editing because most of
- 1:31:02our images were generated using AI and
- 1:31:04we didn't really do too much else with
- 1:31:06it. So, we're going to go ahead and
- 1:31:07select that. It's then going to ask you
- 1:31:08for the tools that you use. I'm just
- 1:31:10going to go ahead and add in KD. And
- 1:31:12then translations. We had none of those
- 1:31:14either. That's exactly what we've got.
- 1:31:16Absolutely fine. And then just go over
- 1:31:18to launch previewer. And then this is
- 1:31:20going to show you a preview of exactly
- 1:31:22what your book looks like. So as you can
- 1:31:23see, here's that front cover that we
- 1:31:24showed you that I showed you earlier on.
- 1:31:26Express yourself with also the designs
- 1:31:28on the back cover. You then go into the
- 1:31:30interior of the book. Here's that intro
- 1:31:31page that I showed you. Here's this um
- 1:31:34message saying all the left pages are
- 1:31:36going to be there for um prevent bleed
- 1:31:37through. And then here's our first uh
- 1:31:40first image. Uh here's our blank. You
- 1:31:42know, all the left hand pages are going
- 1:31:43to be blank. Our right pages are going
- 1:31:45to be our designs. And as you can see,
- 1:31:46it's this all the way through the book.
- 1:31:48And here are all the designs that you
- 1:31:50see that you saw me make um earlier on.
- 1:31:53Rended up with 99 pages in here, which
- 1:31:55means I think I might have accidentally
- 1:31:56missed off um one design here, but
- 1:31:58that's my fault. So, just have a scan
- 1:32:00through this and then go ahead and press
- 1:32:01approve. If you've got dimensions wrong
- 1:32:03or you've got some designs that spill
- 1:32:05over the side of the book, you will have
- 1:32:06some issues here. It will basically say
- 1:32:08something like uh design spills over the
- 1:32:10edge of the page um and you won't be
- 1:32:12able to approve it. But what essentially
- 1:32:13is happening is Amazon is checking your
- 1:32:15files, making sure everything fits where
- 1:32:17it should be. So if there are any
- 1:32:18issues, you will be um told here with
- 1:32:20this quality check and you won't be able
- 1:32:22to approve it. Just go back to exit
- 1:32:24print previewer, amend the issues that
- 1:32:26you've got because sometimes you might
- 1:32:27not realize that a design maybe goes
- 1:32:29over the edge of the page, but
- 1:32:31everything you need to know will be told
- 1:32:33uh to you here. But generally, if you
- 1:32:34follow the instructions in this video,
- 1:32:36everything should be fine. Go ahead and
- 1:32:38just press approve. Then just go down
- 1:32:39and press save and continue. And then
- 1:32:41you go ahead and set the price for your
- 1:32:42book. So I would always keep this as
- 1:32:44individual territories. That primary
- 1:32:46marketplace is locked in. And then you
- 1:32:48want to go ahead and set the price for
- 1:32:50your book. Now, how much you price your
- 1:32:51book does entirely depend on how much
- 1:32:53your competitors are priced for. I
- 1:32:55generally price my coloring books at
- 1:32:56around at least $9.99.
- 1:32:59As you can see, if I put it at $9.99,
- 1:33:01it's going to cost $2.84 to print. We
- 1:33:04don't actually pay that. That just comes
- 1:33:05out of the sale price. And for every
- 1:33:07single sale that we make at $9.99,
- 1:33:10we will make $3.15. And then it
- 1:33:13automatically does exactly the same for
- 1:33:15all of these other territories. Now, you
- 1:33:16might want to update these so they end
- 1:33:18in 99. It looks a bit more professional.
- 1:33:20So, in the US, our book is going to be
- 1:33:22$9.99. The UK it'll be $7.99. In
- 1:33:26Germany, it'll be $8.99. And they go
- 1:33:29through and add all of these. I'm not
- 1:33:30going to do it because it just takes a
- 1:33:31little bit of time. Um, but that's what
- 1:33:32I would essentially do just so the price
- 1:33:34looks good cuz if it's something like
- 1:33:36€853, it just looks a little bit
- 1:33:38unprofessional. But as you can see, for
- 1:33:40every US copy we sell, we'll make $3.15.
- 1:33:44And for every UK copy we sell, we'll
- 1:33:46make $264.
- 1:33:48So again, go through, set your price
- 1:33:50accordingly. You don't want to go too
- 1:33:51low cuz if you go something like $6.99,
- 1:33:54you're only making 66% royalties. It's
- 1:33:56just not scalable. It's going to be very
- 1:33:58hard to make this book profitable,
- 1:33:59especially if you're using ads. So, I
- 1:34:01would always recommend going at least
- 1:34:03$9.99 for your coloring books. But
- 1:34:05remember, in order to do this, you need
- 1:34:07to make sure you can actually justify
- 1:34:08that price, which is why it's so
- 1:34:10important your book is high quality and
- 1:34:12you're also, you know, not having too
- 1:34:14much competition by using the techniques
- 1:34:16that I showed you in that niche research
- 1:34:18section. For us, if anyone wants a quote
- 1:34:21food coloring book, they're going to
- 1:34:22have to come to us and buy ours. And
- 1:34:24ours is $9.99. You don't want to pay
- 1:34:26$9.99. There isn't an alternative for
- 1:34:29you. So people are going to go ahead and
- 1:34:30buy ours at $9.99. Especially if
- 1:34:33competitors books are just containing
- 1:34:35images of food with no funny quotes and
- 1:34:37you know no details around it for the
- 1:34:39same price. You can get ours which is a
- 1:34:41significantly better product and also a
- 1:34:43unique product. So that's how I've
- 1:34:45justified this $9.99. So again it's kind
- 1:34:48of subjective how much you want to price
- 1:34:49it for but that's exactly how you would
- 1:34:51do that. Then all you want to do is go
- 1:34:53down and just say publish your paperback
- 1:34:55book. It will take uh around 24 to 7 uh
- 1:34:58it will take around 24 to 72 hours um
- 1:35:01for your book to go live. Once you press
- 1:35:03this button, Amazon will check it. They
- 1:35:05review it and then you'll get an email
- 1:35:06from Amazon to the email that you signed
- 1:35:08up with when you uh created your Amazon
- 1:35:10account to say your book is now live on
- 1:35:12Amazon. And there you go. You have
- 1:35:14uploaded your first Amazon KDP book and
- 1:35:17it is live ready for people to go ahead
- 1:35:19and buy it. So now that we've created
- 1:35:20our book and it is live on Amazon, the
- 1:35:22next step we need to do is start getting
- 1:35:24its initial reviews. So that is step
- 1:35:27four of this entire process. Now KDP
- 1:35:30book reviews, book reviews are in my
- 1:35:32opinion the biggest driver of purchasing
- 1:35:34decisions because they provide social
- 1:35:36proof. If you have two books, right, and
- 1:35:38let's just say they're exactly the same
- 1:35:39book, one book has one fivestar review
- 1:35:41and the other book has 20 fivestar
- 1:35:43reviews. They're the same book. They're
- 1:35:45the same price. Which one are people
- 1:35:47going to buy? 100% of the time people
- 1:35:49are going to go for the book that has
- 1:35:51more reviews. More reviews means it's
- 1:35:53more social proof. It taps into this
- 1:35:55psychology of people know they're going
- 1:35:56to get something that's worth their
- 1:35:58money when they actually buy it. So, if
- 1:36:00you don't have reviews in your book,
- 1:36:02it's very, very difficult to get sales.
- 1:36:04And they can also persuade your
- 1:36:05customers to buy your book instead of a
- 1:36:07competitor, even if the price is higher.
- 1:36:09Again, let's just say you have two
- 1:36:10competing books. One is listed for
- 1:36:12$7.99, the other one is listed for
- 1:36:14$9.99. But the $7.99 one has one review
- 1:36:18and the $9.99 one has 20 reviews. Even
- 1:36:21though the $9.99 book is more expensive
- 1:36:24because it has more social proof. People
- 1:36:26trust it more. You're going to sell way
- 1:36:28more with the second book because it's
- 1:36:30got those reviews. It's got that proof
- 1:36:32and people are happy to spend a little
- 1:36:34bit more money to know that they're
- 1:36:36going to get the right product. So book
- 1:36:38reviews are honestly so so important
- 1:36:39with Amazon KDP. And they also help you
- 1:36:42rank higher because Amazon knows that
- 1:36:44not only does your book sell well, but
- 1:36:45people are also enjoying it too because
- 1:36:48leaving a good review is an indicator to
- 1:36:50Amazon that people are buying it and
- 1:36:51therefore enjoying it and therefore it's
- 1:36:53likely to sell more. So there's so many
- 1:36:55benefits to getting KDP book reviews. So
- 1:36:57how does this whole process work? Now
- 1:36:59it's very well summarized with this kind
- 1:37:01of diagram here cuz ultimately without
- 1:37:03reviews, it's very very difficult to
- 1:37:05convince people to buy your book. So you
- 1:37:07won't sell a book until you get reviews.
- 1:37:09But then how can you get reviews if no
- 1:37:11one's buying your books? You kind of end
- 1:37:12up in this kind of weird cycle here. You
- 1:37:14haven't got any reviews in your book, so
- 1:37:16you're not going to make any sales. And
- 1:37:18because you're not making any sales,
- 1:37:20you're not going to get any reviews. And
- 1:37:21because you haven't got any reviews,
- 1:37:22you're not going to get any sales. And
- 1:37:23this whole kind of feedback loop starts.
- 1:37:25And a lot of people will just upload a
- 1:37:27book Amazon KDP and then just get stuck
- 1:37:29in this cycle where they just can't
- 1:37:31drive any sales or any reviews and they
- 1:37:33end up selling absolutely no units. Like
- 1:37:35I say, this is the endless loop that so
- 1:37:36many KDP publishers end up finding
- 1:37:39themselves in. But there is a way to
- 1:37:41break this cycle and get reviews on your
- 1:37:43books before you start selling them. And
- 1:37:45you think now the minute you start
- 1:37:47getting more reviews, all of a sudden
- 1:37:49you've got reviews on your book.
- 1:37:50Therefore, more people are likely to
- 1:37:52buy, the more people who buy, the more
- 1:37:54people you have to review it. The more
- 1:37:55reviews you get, the more people who
- 1:37:57will start buying. So this feedback loop
- 1:37:59starts working in your favor. So you're
- 1:38:00probably wondering, how do you get
- 1:38:02reviews without selling books? And the
- 1:38:04key with Amazon KDP is you don't
- 1:38:06actually need to have sold a book or
- 1:38:07someone doesn't need to have bought your
- 1:38:09book in order to leave a review. They
- 1:38:11can receive something called an advanced
- 1:38:13reader copy which basically means they
- 1:38:14re receive a PDF version or like an
- 1:38:17online version of your book and in
- 1:38:18return they will download that for free
- 1:38:20and they will be able to leave a review
- 1:38:22on Amazon. And the way to get these
- 1:38:24reviews is through a website called Book
- 1:38:26Bounty. Now, I'll go through this in a
- 1:38:27step-by-step process in just a sec. But
- 1:38:29in terms of just a very quick topline
- 1:38:31summary of how Book Bounty works. It's
- 1:38:33essentially a place where you can list
- 1:38:34your book to be reviewed. So, let's say
- 1:38:37you have a coloring book. You can upload
- 1:38:39a PDF version of this book. So, a
- 1:38:41100page PDF document. Someone can then
- 1:38:43go ahead and download that completely
- 1:38:45for free. Then go and print out these
- 1:38:47pages and use them to color in or
- 1:38:48whatever it is they want to do with
- 1:38:49them. And then within a certain time
- 1:38:50period, they will then have to leave a
- 1:38:52review on your actual Amazon listing
- 1:38:54even though they haven't actually bought
- 1:38:55the book because although they haven't
- 1:38:56bought it from Amazon, they received
- 1:38:58what was known as an advanced reader
- 1:39:00copy, which is this PDF version. They
- 1:39:02have seen it, they have used it.
- 1:39:03Granted, they'd have printed it out
- 1:39:05rather than having the physical book,
- 1:39:06but it's still completely compliant with
- 1:39:08Amazon to therefore leave a rating off
- 1:39:10the back of this. So that's essentially
- 1:39:11how Book Bounty works. And it's
- 1:39:13essentially this way of generating
- 1:39:14reviews without getting any sales. So,
- 1:39:16off the back of this, you can easily get
- 1:39:18five to 10 reviews without even selling
- 1:39:20a single unit. And then once you've got
- 1:39:22those reviews, you will start slowly
- 1:39:24making sales because you have this
- 1:39:26social proof. And it just breaks out of
- 1:39:27that chain or that negative chain that I
- 1:39:29mentioned just a second ago. So, now I'm
- 1:39:31going to jump over to another video that
- 1:39:32I've already recorded on my YouTube
- 1:39:34channel, giving you a step-by-step
- 1:39:36walkthrough of exactly how to use Book
- 1:39:38Bounty. In 2025, book reviews are
- 1:39:40arguably one of the most important parts
- 1:39:42of Amazon KDP. Because if a potential
- 1:39:44customer lands on your book listing and
- 1:39:45you don't have reviews, they simply
- 1:39:47don't trust your book and they're going
- 1:39:48to go off to a competitor who does have
- 1:39:50reviews and buy their book instead. And
- 1:39:52not only do reviews build trust with
- 1:39:54your potential customers, they also
- 1:39:55allow Amazon to push it more in the
- 1:39:57algorithm, which ultimately leads to
- 1:39:59even more sales for your book. So
- 1:40:00essentially, to make sales on Amazon
- 1:40:02KDP, you need to have reviews on your
- 1:40:04book. But the big problem is a lot of
- 1:40:06people can't get those initial reviews
- 1:40:08on their book that will kickstart this
- 1:40:09whole sales process. And those people
- 1:40:11who are getting reviews by using tools
- 1:40:13like Pubby might actually be at risk of
- 1:40:15getting their account terminated due to
- 1:40:16updates in Amazon KDP's terms and
- 1:40:18conditions. So, in this video, I'm going
- 1:40:20to show you a completely safe and
- 1:40:21legitimate way to get these initial
- 1:40:23reviews on your books and do so in a way
- 1:40:25that doesn't risk your KDP account being
- 1:40:27terminated. So, before I jump in and
- 1:40:29show you the tool, this is the update to
- 1:40:31Amazon's terms and conditions that might
- 1:40:32be catching a lot of people out who are
- 1:40:34using sites like Pub. Now, I have
- 1:40:36previously made a video showing you how
- 1:40:37to use Puppy as a good way to get
- 1:40:39reviews in your books, but this update
- 1:40:40literally came out a couple of days
- 1:40:42after I made that video. So, I recommend
- 1:40:44you pay very close attention to this.
- 1:40:46These are the terms and conditions when
- 1:40:47it comes to customer reviews on your
- 1:40:49Amazon KBY books. And what KDP basically
- 1:40:51did is they added in a couple of lines
- 1:40:52at the ends of their terms and
- 1:40:53conditions. So, basically says here are
- 1:40:55a few examples of where a review is not
- 1:40:57permitted. And here are the two new ones
- 1:40:59they've added in. Firstly, if the
- 1:41:01customer is a member of a review club
- 1:41:02where sellers or brands give the
- 1:41:04customer ratings or refer the customer
- 1:41:06to other sellers or brands based on
- 1:41:08their review. And the second one is the
- 1:41:10customer is a member of a review club
- 1:41:11where they are asked to register the
- 1:41:13Amazon public profile so that sellers or
- 1:41:15brands may monitor their reviews or
- 1:41:16products offered through the club. Now,
- 1:41:18all of this information is extremely
- 1:41:19boring and hard to actually understand.
- 1:41:21So, I'm going to break it down in very
- 1:41:22simple terms for you. What this
- 1:41:23basically means is you can't get reviews
- 1:41:26through sites like Pubby if everything
- 1:41:27is done through some kind of public
- 1:41:29profile. So what this basically means if
- 1:41:31you get a review from something like
- 1:41:32Pubby, but you can see the name of the
- 1:41:34person who's left that review, Amazon
- 1:41:36therefore considered that to be an
- 1:41:38illegitimate review because technically
- 1:41:40you have information about that person's
- 1:41:41public profile and hypothetically you
- 1:41:44could contact them and tell them maybe
- 1:41:45to remove the review or you know do
- 1:41:47something with the review and therefore
- 1:41:48manipulate the experience. So the big
- 1:41:50problem here all comes down to this idea
- 1:41:52of public profile and seeing the name of
- 1:41:53the person who left the review on your
- 1:41:55book. So I'm just on my Pubby account to
- 1:41:57show you an example of what I mean by
- 1:41:59this. So, as you can see, here is a
- 1:42:00review that was left on one of my random
- 1:42:01books in April 2022. The name here is
- 1:42:04PDC. It's a bit of a bad example because
- 1:42:06it's not an actual name, but this is
- 1:42:07going to be the name of the person's
- 1:42:08Amazon account that they left their
- 1:42:10review. So, technically, this could say
- 1:42:12something like Paul or something like
- 1:42:13that. So, I have the name of the person
- 1:42:15that's left the review on my book. And
- 1:42:17this is now against Amazon's terms and
- 1:42:19conditions. So, when it comes to using a
- 1:42:21tool to help get reviews on your books,
- 1:42:23you crucially shouldn't be able to see
- 1:42:25the name of the person that's left their
- 1:42:26review. This is why I actually recommend
- 1:42:28you don't use Puby anymore. I know it's
- 1:42:30annoying and confusing cuz I recently
- 1:42:31made a video showing you how to use
- 1:42:33Puby, but this update literally came
- 1:42:35out, as I said, a couple of days after
- 1:42:36that video and why I wanted to make this
- 1:42:38video to ensure that everyone is
- 1:42:39completely safe. Now, if I'm being
- 1:42:40completely honest, this is probably not
- 1:42:42going to get you in trouble with your
- 1:42:44Amazon KDP account, but again, you can
- 1:42:45never be too careful and why I wanted to
- 1:42:47just give an alternative option for
- 1:42:49those of you who might be a little bit
- 1:42:50worried about something like this. And
- 1:42:51that alternative option is Book Bounty.
- 1:42:53Now, I will leave a link to Book Bounty
- 1:42:55down below in the description, but it
- 1:42:56works in a very, very similar way to
- 1:42:58Puby. But the big difference between
- 1:42:59Book Bounty and Pub is that on Book
- 1:43:01Bounty, the reviews that you get, you
- 1:43:03can't see who has left the review for
- 1:43:05you, and therefore, it's definitely
- 1:43:07within Amazon's terms and conditions,
- 1:43:08and we're moving away from that kind of
- 1:43:10blurred line that Puppy hasn't yet
- 1:43:12crossed. So, as you can see, it works in
- 1:43:14a very similar way to Puby. You review
- 1:43:16other people's books, you get a score
- 1:43:18that you can then spend on getting
- 1:43:19reviews for your books. I'm going to
- 1:43:20show you a full tutorial in just a sec,
- 1:43:22but I'm just introducing it to you now.
- 1:43:23So, it's very, very similar to Puppy,
- 1:43:25but you're just much more protected. And
- 1:43:26what I really, really like about Book
- 1:43:28Bounty is they're really on top of all
- 1:43:30of these updates that Amazon come out
- 1:43:32with. Whenever there's been an update in
- 1:43:33terms Amazon sites in regards to
- 1:43:35reviews, I, as a user of Book Bounty,
- 1:43:37have received an email from them to
- 1:43:39explain exactly what this update is and
- 1:43:41also how they have adapted their
- 1:43:42software to make sure they're still
- 1:43:44following all of these updated
- 1:43:45guidelines. So, honestly, you're very,
- 1:43:47very safe with using Book Bounty.
- 1:43:49Another benefit of using Book Bounty
- 1:43:50over something like Puby is it's a lot
- 1:43:52more affordable if you sign up on a
- 1:43:54monthly subscription using my link down
- 1:43:56below in the description. It's $25 a
- 1:43:58month if you sign up on a monthly basis
- 1:44:00or only $15 per month if you sign up on
- 1:44:02a yearly basis. So, it's safer than Pub
- 1:44:05and it's also cheaper than Pubby. So,
- 1:44:06how Book Bounty works is you essentially
- 1:44:08have your bounty score up here and you
- 1:44:10use these points to get reviews on your
- 1:44:12books. But to get these points in the
- 1:44:14first place, you need to be reviewing
- 1:44:15other people's books. And this is how
- 1:44:17you do it. If you scroll across to
- 1:44:18bounty library here, you can see all of
- 1:44:20these different books that you can use
- 1:44:21and you can read and also review and get
- 1:44:23book bounty scores for. So, as you can
- 1:44:25see, the bounty score is here. And you
- 1:44:27might notice that some books have a
- 1:44:28higher bounty score than others. That's
- 1:44:30basically because some books you
- 1:44:31actually have to repurchase them on
- 1:44:32Amazon in order to leave your review.
- 1:44:34So, therefore, you have to pay a little
- 1:44:35bit of money, but you get more bounties
- 1:44:37for doing that. So, it's entirely up to
- 1:44:39you kind of which one you want to go
- 1:44:40for. You can filter everything here by
- 1:44:42free promotions, Kinder Unlimited,
- 1:44:44verified purchases. You can sort by
- 1:44:46highest bounties. So, The Dogs Guide to
- 1:44:48Happiness. I get 2,620 bounties for
- 1:44:51reviewing this book. But just for this
- 1:44:53example here, let's just go for a free
- 1:44:55download and choose one of these books
- 1:44:57here. I'm going to choose this one here,
- 1:44:58Read Faster, Remember More. If I review
- 1:45:01this book, I get 1,280
- 1:45:03bounties. So, going to go ahead and just
- 1:45:05click into this book and press choose
- 1:45:07this bounty. When you do that, you will
- 1:45:08see the reward. you get 1,280 bounty
- 1:45:11points. It's going to be a standard
- 1:45:12review. I'll show you exactly what that
- 1:45:13means in just a second. It shows you the
- 1:45:15date in which it's due. And it also
- 1:45:17shows you the word count of the book.
- 1:45:18So, all you would do is go ahead and
- 1:45:20press start reading. And as you can see,
- 1:45:22these bounty points have now been added
- 1:45:23to my account. And it'll give me
- 1:45:25basically a calendar of when everything
- 1:45:26needs to happen. So, then you want to
- 1:45:28scroll down here to where it says bounty
- 1:45:30to-dos. And you have to go ahead and do
- 1:45:31all of these different tasks. So,
- 1:45:32firstly, you need to go ahead and
- 1:45:34download the book. Just press this link
- 1:45:35here. And what that will do is download
- 1:45:36the book that you want to go ahead and
- 1:45:38read. and then leave a review for. And I
- 1:45:40will say here, like any other review
- 1:45:41site, you need to provide a genuine and
- 1:45:43honest review. This is not a case of
- 1:45:45just paying to get five star reviews on
- 1:45:47your book. That's not how this worked.
- 1:45:48These are all genuine and honest
- 1:45:50reviews. So the reviews you're getting
- 1:45:51on your book. If your book is poor
- 1:45:53quality and using something like Book
- 1:45:55Bounty, you're going to get a bad
- 1:45:56review. It's not a case of just because
- 1:45:58you're using this, you're always going
- 1:45:59to get five star reviews. Reviews on
- 1:46:01here are genuine and legitimate. That's
- 1:46:03how it stays within Amazon's terms and
- 1:46:05conditions. So make sure firstly your
- 1:46:07book is high quality and also when
- 1:46:08you're reviewing other people's books
- 1:46:10you give genuine and honest reviews. So
- 1:46:12here is the book that we're going to be
- 1:46:13reviewing here. What you would do is
- 1:46:14take a couple of days go through this
- 1:46:16entire book and then once you've read
- 1:46:17this book you would go back into book
- 1:46:19bounty. You would tick off this as
- 1:46:20downloaded the book. You would then have
- 1:46:22read the book and then you want to press
- 1:46:23this view on Amazon button and what this
- 1:46:25will do is take you over to the listing
- 1:46:26and that's where you can go ahead and
- 1:46:28submit your review on Amazon. By default
- 1:46:30it will take you to the American store.
- 1:46:32But if you're someone like myself that
- 1:46:33lives in the UK, all you need to do is
- 1:46:35simply go over here and just replace
- 1:46:36this with.co.uk and then leave the
- 1:46:39review on this site. Then once you've
- 1:46:41left your review, you would check this
- 1:46:42post your review on Amazon button and
- 1:46:44then copy and paste the review into here
- 1:46:46and then submit this bounty on Book
- 1:46:47Bounty. And what Book Bounty will do is
- 1:46:49they will take the review you've
- 1:46:50submitted to them and make sure it
- 1:46:52matches exactly with the review you've
- 1:46:53left on Amazon. And then everyone is a
- 1:46:55winner. You've got your bounty and then
- 1:46:57they've got their review. So now that
- 1:46:58you've reviewed someone else's book,
- 1:47:00you've got bounties. It's now time for
- 1:47:01you to spend those bounties and get
- 1:47:03reviews on your own book. What you want
- 1:47:05to do is go over to my book section here
- 1:47:06and then just press this plus new book
- 1:47:08button. And then this is how you set up
- 1:47:10your book to get reviews. So you want to
- 1:47:12go ahead and put in the title of your
- 1:47:13book. So for the title, I'm just using
- 1:47:14an example here. So I've just put in my
- 1:47:16test book and I've also just put my name
- 1:47:18as the author, but put the actual title
- 1:47:20of your Amazon KDP book. Go into your
- 1:47:21listing, copy and paste it, and put it
- 1:47:23in here. And then just put your author
- 1:47:24name in here as well. And then you have
- 1:47:26the option of the type of bounty
- 1:47:28contract that you like. Now, this is the
- 1:47:29bit where it gets a little bit confusing
- 1:47:30and I want to explain how you can
- 1:47:32navigate this. So, you have three
- 1:47:33different types of reviews. You have a
- 1:47:34standard review, you have a Kinder
- 1:47:36Unlimited review, and you have a
- 1:47:38verified purchase review. Now, verified
- 1:47:40purchase is the strongest kind of review
- 1:47:41that you can get because it basically
- 1:47:43means someone's gone in, bought your
- 1:47:44book, and then left a review. And you'll
- 1:47:46have a verified purchase review right
- 1:47:48next to the review on your Amazon
- 1:47:50listing. So, this is definitely the best
- 1:47:51one you can get, but it does cost a few
- 1:47:53more bounties. The next best one is
- 1:47:56Kindle Unlimited. This is basically when
- 1:47:57you upload a Kindle version of your
- 1:47:59book, someone downloads it during a free
- 1:48:01promotion and you get a review that way.
- 1:48:03And then the final review you can get is
- 1:48:05a standard review. It's technically the
- 1:48:07weakest kind of review you can get, but
- 1:48:08it's actually really, really good if you
- 1:48:10have things like coloring books and you
- 1:48:11have things like activity books that
- 1:48:13can't be converted into ebooks because
- 1:48:15both of these two options require your
- 1:48:17book to be in an ebook format. They're
- 1:48:20downloading the Kindle version of your
- 1:48:21book. They're purchasing the ebook
- 1:48:23version of your book. So, if you have a
- 1:48:25coloring book or an activity book or any
- 1:48:27kind of book that can't be an ebook
- 1:48:29version, it's generally quite difficult
- 1:48:31to get reviews. And that's why you need
- 1:48:33to be using the standard option here.
- 1:48:35Because what they do with the standard
- 1:48:36option is exactly what I've just shown
- 1:48:37you in that previous example. You will
- 1:48:39upload a PDF or an e-ub version of your
- 1:48:42book onto Book Bounty. Someone will go
- 1:48:44ahead and review your book. They'll then
- 1:48:45download it just like we've done, and
- 1:48:47they'll actually read through the PDF
- 1:48:48version rather than the actual Amazon
- 1:48:50version. and they're still able to leave
- 1:48:52a review because they have read what
- 1:48:54your book is about. So if it's a
- 1:48:55coloring book or an activity book,
- 1:48:56they'll get access to the PDF, they can
- 1:48:58print those pages off, they can use it,
- 1:49:00and then they can leave their review. So
- 1:49:01ideally, if your book can be converted
- 1:49:03to Kindle, I would always recommend
- 1:49:05going for the verified purchase.
- 1:49:07Definitely the strongest kind of review
- 1:49:08you can get. But if it's like a coloring
- 1:49:10book or an activity book, like I say,
- 1:49:12just stick to the standard review. And
- 1:49:14if you just click this button, this is
- 1:49:15where you upload the PDF file of your
- 1:49:17book interior. Now, once you've done
- 1:49:18that, you then need to upload a file of
- 1:49:20your front cover. This literally just
- 1:49:21needs to be a PNG of the front cover of
- 1:49:24your book. It's not the entire cover
- 1:49:25itself. It's just the front cover. So,
- 1:49:27as you can see in this example, this is
- 1:49:28literally the PNG file they've uploaded.
- 1:49:30Nothing to do with the back cover.
- 1:49:31Literally just a screenshot or an image
- 1:49:33of your front cover. So, just going back
- 1:49:34to what I was saying a second ago, when
- 1:49:36you upload this PDF file of your book,
- 1:49:38the file that I'm talking about here is
- 1:49:39the one that someone who comes to review
- 1:49:41your book, they'll press this book here,
- 1:49:42and it's just this file that you upload
- 1:49:44here. So, it's basically just the
- 1:49:45interior of your book for someone to go
- 1:49:47ahead and read and they can leave a
- 1:49:48review based off that. So, that's what I
- 1:49:50mean by uploading your book file here
- 1:49:52and your front cover is just that PNG
- 1:49:53image. You then need to upload an Amazon
- 1:49:55URL or a short example of an Amazon URL.
- 1:49:58Some people get a little bit confused by
- 1:50:00this, but I'm going to show you exactly
- 1:50:01what it means. Say this was an example
- 1:50:03of your book. If you want to go up to
- 1:50:04the URL here, as you can see, it's quite
- 1:50:05a long one. You want to find the bit
- 1:50:06where it says /ref and then everything
- 1:50:08after here you just want to go ahead and
- 1:50:10delete. And this is the URL you want to
- 1:50:11go ahead and copy into book bounty. Then
- 1:50:14simply just go ahead and select a genre
- 1:50:16depending on whatever book you have.
- 1:50:17Let's just say it's to do with
- 1:50:18cookbooks, food, and wine. And then just
- 1:50:19leave a brief description of your book.
- 1:50:21This doesn't have to be your actual
- 1:50:22Amazon book description. Just allow
- 1:50:24someone who's potentially going to read
- 1:50:25your book to know a little bit more
- 1:50:26about it before they go ahead and review
- 1:50:28it. And then just press submit for
- 1:50:30approval. And then in a couple of days,
- 1:50:31it will be approved by book bounty. And
- 1:50:33then you can list it and people can
- 1:50:34start reviewing it for you. So once your
- 1:50:36book has been approved by book bounty,
- 1:50:38just click into the book itself and then
- 1:50:39just press start a bounty and then you
- 1:50:41can choose loads of different things.
- 1:50:43So, the turnaround time, you can choose
- 1:50:44one day, you can choose 4 days. The
- 1:50:46quicker it is, the more, you know,
- 1:50:47bounties that you will spend. As you can
- 1:50:48see, one day will cost you 1,250.
- 1:50:514 days will cost you a little bit less,
- 1:50:52but it obviously takes longer to get
- 1:50:54that review in. You then choose a
- 1:50:56certain bounty contract type. So, for
- 1:50:57the example of this book here, I only
- 1:50:59selected standard when I actually
- 1:51:01uploaded my book to Book Bounty. So,
- 1:51:02this is the only option. So, I would
- 1:51:04then go ahead and press standard. And
- 1:51:06then all I would do is just press send
- 1:51:07bounty. And then my book will appear
- 1:51:09here just like everybody else's. Someone
- 1:51:11will come along. and they'll click into
- 1:51:12my book and then they will leave a
- 1:51:13review. They get their bounty score and
- 1:51:15then I get my review. And that's exactly
- 1:51:17how Book Bounty works. So, that's how
- 1:51:19you can get legitimate reviews on your
- 1:51:20Amazon KDP books without the risk of it
- 1:51:23being terminated. Now, if you do want to
- 1:51:24check out Book Bounty, I will leave that
- 1:51:25link down below in the description. And
- 1:51:27if you have any questions about anything
- 1:51:28I've covered in here, you want me to
- 1:51:30clarify anything that you might be a
- 1:51:31little bit confused about, then please
- 1:51:32do let me know in the comments section
- 1:51:34down below. So, up to this point, we've
- 1:51:36done research to understand what book to
- 1:51:38make and why we're making it. We've
- 1:51:39actually gone ahead and made that book.
- 1:51:40We've uploaded it optimally to Amazon
- 1:51:43KDP. We've then got our initial reviews
- 1:51:45in. So, we've got some social proof and
- 1:51:47some reviews behind our books. So, the
- 1:51:49final thing you need to do now is start
- 1:51:50marketing and advertising your book
- 1:51:52using Amazon ads. Now, Amazon ads can be
- 1:51:54an extremely complicated thing for some
- 1:51:56people. Some people take to it very
- 1:51:58easily. They understand data and all
- 1:51:59this kind of thing. So, it can be a
- 1:52:01little bit difficult, but I'm going to
- 1:52:02cover in as simple terms as possible and
- 1:52:04explain everything you need to know to
- 1:52:06start using Amazon ads as a beginner.
- 1:52:08going through everything you need to
- 1:52:10know as a beginner to understand and
- 1:52:12launch your first Amazon ad and start
- 1:52:14making sales from your KDP books. So,
- 1:52:16this again is taken from a separate
- 1:52:18video, but will give you absolutely
- 1:52:19everything you need to build up the
- 1:52:21confidence, launch your first auto ad,
- 1:52:22and like I say, start making sales. In
- 1:52:24this video, I'm going to teach you
- 1:52:26absolutely everything you need to know
- 1:52:27about Amazon KDP ads as a beginner so
- 1:52:30that ultimately by the end of this
- 1:52:31video, you can start using ads with
- 1:52:33confidence and start using them to make
- 1:52:35you more money on Amazon KDP. So, Amazon
- 1:52:37KDP ads for beginners. Now, this is
- 1:52:39going to be a quite a long video, so I'm
- 1:52:40going to break down exactly what we're
- 1:52:42going to cover throughout the entirety
- 1:52:43of it. Firstly, I'll explain why you
- 1:52:46need to be using Amazon ads. We'll then
- 1:52:48move on to how Amazon ads actually work,
- 1:52:50explain things like the bidding system,
- 1:52:52and just how the whole process comes to
- 1:52:54life, and then finally, I'll show you
- 1:52:55how to create and monitor your ads to
- 1:52:58make them as profitable and make you as
- 1:52:59much money as possible. Now, of course,
- 1:53:01there's quite a few layers within each
- 1:53:02of these, but this is generally the
- 1:53:04structure that we're going to follow
- 1:53:05throughout this video. So, let's start
- 1:53:06with why we want to use Amazon ads in
- 1:53:08the first place. Now, the reason why you
- 1:53:10want to use Amazon ads in the first
- 1:53:11place is that they allow your books to
- 1:53:13be seen by more customers. The more eyes
- 1:53:15you get on your books, the more sales
- 1:53:17that you make. And they also allow you
- 1:53:18to place your book crucially in front of
- 1:53:20the right customers because they're
- 1:53:21going to be showing up against certain
- 1:53:23search terms and products. Not just more
- 1:53:25people to see your books, but more of
- 1:53:26the right people. And they also allow
- 1:53:28you to crucially increase your organic
- 1:53:29sales, too, because the more ranking
- 1:53:31your books get organically, the more
- 1:53:33sales you make. So as you sell more
- 1:53:35units through your ads, Amazon will
- 1:53:36recognize it's a good product and start
- 1:53:38pushing it more. Ultimately, Amazon just
- 1:53:40pushes the products that makes them the
- 1:53:42most money. So if you're using ads on
- 1:53:44your books and these ads are converting
- 1:53:46into sales, Amazon think, hey, this
- 1:53:48book's actually making some money,
- 1:53:49making us some sales, let's push it
- 1:53:51higher in the algorithm, and then
- 1:53:53hopefully even more people will buy it.
- 1:53:54So Amazon ads are more than just getting
- 1:53:56sales to ads. They also help you with
- 1:53:58your organic ranking, too. Now, here's a
- 1:54:00good visualization of exactly what I
- 1:54:02mean. Now, don't get too carried away
- 1:54:03with the time frame and also the
- 1:54:05specific numbers. Just look at the
- 1:54:06general trend and the general idea here
- 1:54:08is when you first launch an Amazon KDP
- 1:54:10book just because it's just been
- 1:54:12launched, it's not going to rank very
- 1:54:13well organically because it's just been
- 1:54:15out. Amazon don't know whether or not to
- 1:54:17push it or not. So, the vast majority of
- 1:54:19your sales when you first launch a book
- 1:54:21will come from ads. But as you start to
- 1:54:24continually use ads, Amazon realize,
- 1:54:26okay, people are buying this book and
- 1:54:27then they'll start pushing it a little
- 1:54:29bit more organically and you'll start to
- 1:54:31make a few more organic sales. Then over
- 1:54:33time, even if the number of sales you
- 1:54:34get from your ads stays the same, you'll
- 1:54:36also be getting significantly more
- 1:54:38organic sales because Amazon would be
- 1:54:40pushing your book a lot more. Whereas,
- 1:54:41if you didn't use Amazon ads when you
- 1:54:43first launch your book, it's very, very
- 1:54:45difficult to get this initial traction
- 1:54:46and to get these initial sales because
- 1:54:48ultimately no one can see your book in
- 1:54:50the first place. So that's why Amazon
- 1:54:51ads are really important, especially
- 1:54:53when you first launch your book. And
- 1:54:55ultimately, the more people that sell on
- 1:54:57Amazon, the harder it is to rank. As
- 1:54:59Amazon KDP has increased in competition
- 1:55:01as a business model, there are just more
- 1:55:03and more people that you're competing
- 1:55:04against. And that is why Amazon ads are
- 1:55:07so important because they give you the
- 1:55:08opportunity to stand out from a lot of
- 1:55:10this competition. And the two main
- 1:55:12reasons why they're so important is
- 1:55:14firstly, the obvious one, they get you
- 1:55:15more sales, but secondly, they also
- 1:55:17improve your organic ranking as I showed
- 1:55:19you in this slide here. here. And
- 1:55:20ultimately, these two things are a
- 1:55:22positive feedback loop. The more sales
- 1:55:24that you get, the more your ranking
- 1:55:26improves, the more your ranking
- 1:55:28improves, the more sales you get. So,
- 1:55:30it's this constant feedback loop that's
- 1:55:31really, really beneficial once to get
- 1:55:33your Amazon ads right. So, this is
- 1:55:35essentially why Amazon ads are so
- 1:55:37important and why I wanted to make this
- 1:55:38video to make it as easy to understand
- 1:55:41so as many of you as possible can start
- 1:55:42using ads and start making more sales.
- 1:55:45And it's also just worth mentioning here
- 1:55:46whenever I'm talking about Amazon ads or
- 1:55:48Amazon KDP ads, they're both exactly the
- 1:55:51same thing. Amazon ads is the platform.
- 1:55:53You're just using Amazon ads for your
- 1:55:55KDP book. So they are exactly the same
- 1:55:57things. Sometimes I might call it Amazon
- 1:55:59ads. Sometimes I might call it Amazon
- 1:56:00KDP ads. They just mean the same thing.
- 1:56:02Now there are two main different types
- 1:56:04of Amazon ads. The first one is a
- 1:56:06keyword ad. And that basically means
- 1:56:08anytime someone searches something into
- 1:56:10Amazon, i.e. put in a keyword like
- 1:56:12dinosaur coloring book for kids, your
- 1:56:14product can show up against that certain
- 1:56:16keyword. So you can basically have your
- 1:56:18book shown in front of people who type
- 1:56:20in a certain thing. And as you can see,
- 1:56:22that's exactly what this book is doing
- 1:56:23here because it comes up with that
- 1:56:25sponsored button as you can see. And
- 1:56:26then the second type of ad you can use
- 1:56:28is a product ad. So basically what it
- 1:56:30means is you can advertise your book
- 1:56:32against other people's books. So if I
- 1:56:34just click into this book here, as you
- 1:56:36can see, this is the listing for that
- 1:56:37book. And underneath here, you can see
- 1:56:40other books that other people are
- 1:56:41advertising against. So, this is
- 1:56:43sometimes good to use against other
- 1:56:44books that are similar to yours, but you
- 1:56:46think yours is better. So, basically,
- 1:56:48someone could land on this page and then
- 1:56:50they see your book below and think,
- 1:56:51"Actually, this book looks a lot better.
- 1:56:53I'll buy this one instead." So, there's
- 1:56:54two main types of ads, keyword ads and
- 1:56:57also product ads. Now, whichever one you
- 1:56:58end up doing is dictated by whether or
- 1:57:00not you use an auto ad or you use a
- 1:57:03manual ad. And I'll explain what these
- 1:57:04two things are now. So auto ads by the
- 1:57:07name is quite straightforward. They are
- 1:57:08automatic. These are just ads that you
- 1:57:10will set up once and Amazon will
- 1:57:11automatically advertise your book
- 1:57:13against certain keywords. I put search
- 1:57:15terms here. Search terms just means the
- 1:57:17same thing as keywords against search
- 1:57:19terms or keywords and also products
- 1:57:21based off your book's metadata. So
- 1:57:23essentially auto ads mean Amazon do the
- 1:57:25targeting for you. So auto ads will use
- 1:57:27your book's metadata to decide where to
- 1:57:29advertise it. So it will look at the
- 1:57:30subtitle, the title, the categories you
- 1:57:33choose, the keyword boxes, the
- 1:57:34description of your book. It will look
- 1:57:36at all of these things and try and
- 1:57:37figure out what your book is and where
- 1:57:39it can place it. So for this example
- 1:57:41here, this is a dinosaur character
- 1:57:43coloring book. Amazon will read this and
- 1:57:45say, "Okay, this is a dinosaur coloring
- 1:57:47book. Has bold and easy designs and it's
- 1:57:49for adults and kids." So it might
- 1:57:50automatically think, okay, we'll show
- 1:57:52this book up anytime someone types in
- 1:57:54anything to do with dinosaur coloring
- 1:57:56book, whether that's for kids or for
- 1:57:57adults. It will also look at the
- 1:57:59description. So T-Rex, Velociraptor,
- 1:58:01Stegosaurus. So if someone types in
- 1:58:02T-Rex coloring book, it might also show
- 1:58:04up then. So basically, this is how
- 1:58:06Amazon understand where to place your
- 1:58:08book in an auto ad. And then you also
- 1:58:10have manual ads. And these are ads where
- 1:58:12you can choose exactly what search terms
- 1:58:14or keywords and products you want to
- 1:58:16have your book shown against and exactly
- 1:58:17how much you're doing it for. And in
- 1:58:19this case, you're you doing all the
- 1:58:21targeting yourself. So the big
- 1:58:22difference between auto ads and manual
- 1:58:24ads is you're both doing keyword
- 1:58:26targeting and product targeting. The
- 1:58:28difference is with auto ads, Amazon are
- 1:58:30choosing all of these targets for you.
- 1:58:32Whereas in manual ads, you actually
- 1:58:33manually go in and choose specific
- 1:58:35search terms. So if this was a manual
- 1:58:37ad, you could tell Amazon, okay, I only
- 1:58:39want to be shown up anytime someone
- 1:58:41types in exactly dinosaur coloring book
- 1:58:43for kids. I don't want to be shown up
- 1:58:45anytime someone types in dinosaur book
- 1:58:47for girls or that kind of thing. You can
- 1:58:49be a lot more manual and a lot more
- 1:58:50selective, hence the term manual versus
- 1:58:53automatic. Now, manual ads can go into a
- 1:58:55significant level of detail. And yes,
- 1:58:57you can use them as a beginner. But I
- 1:58:59recommend if you're brand new to Amazon
- 1:59:00KDP ads, and you just want something
- 1:59:02that's not going to massively overwhelm
- 1:59:03you just to focus on auto ads, cuz you
- 1:59:06can absolutely get incredible results
- 1:59:08just using these. And if you want to
- 1:59:10dive deeper into manual ads, you can do
- 1:59:12that at a later stage. So, in this
- 1:59:13video, I'm going to be specifically
- 1:59:15focusing on auto ads just so you don't
- 1:59:17get super overwhelmed with all of that
- 1:59:18information. So, that's a quick
- 1:59:20explanation as to the different types of
- 1:59:21Amazon ads you can use and why they're
- 1:59:23so important to use them. We're now
- 1:59:25going to move on to how Amazon ads
- 1:59:27actually work. Now, Amazon ads are what
- 1:59:29we call PPC, which stands for
- 1:59:30pay-per-click. And this essentially
- 1:59:32means that you only pay once someone
- 1:59:34actually clicks into your ad. You're not
- 1:59:36paying when someone sees your book.
- 1:59:38You're paying when someone actually
- 1:59:39clicks into the ad. So, if I go back to
- 1:59:41this example here, let me find it. Uh,
- 1:59:43this one here, I'm seeing this ad here.
- 1:59:46seeing this book, but this person only
- 1:59:49actually pays once I click into that
- 1:59:52book and click into their book listing
- 1:59:54as you can see here. Hence the term pay
- 1:59:55per click. So don't worry, you're only
- 1:59:57spending money when someone actually
- 1:59:59clicks onto your ad, i.e. they have
- 2:00:01intent to actually buy it. It's not a
- 2:00:03case of you're paying for them just to
- 2:00:04see it. But having said that, what
- 2:00:06decides how much money you actually pay
- 2:00:08in the first place? Now, there are two
- 2:00:10variables that dictate how much you pay
- 2:00:12for your ads to be shown. Number one,
- 2:00:14something called the default bid. And
- 2:00:16number two, the bidding strategy. Now,
- 2:00:18I'm going to work through both of these
- 2:00:19in more detail individually. Starting
- 2:00:21with the default bid. Now, the default
- 2:00:23bid, as you can see here, it will look
- 2:00:24something like this. When you set up
- 2:00:26your Amazon KDP ad, your default bid is
- 2:00:28simply just how much you are prepared
- 2:00:30for someone to see and ideally hopefully
- 2:00:32click into your ad. So, in this example
- 2:00:35here, as you can see, my default bid is
- 2:00:3720p, which basically means I'm telling
- 2:00:38Amazon, okay, I'm prepared to pay up to
- 2:00:4120p for someone to see and click into my
- 2:00:43ad. But the problem is, of course, there
- 2:00:45are so many people advertising on Amazon
- 2:00:47KDP. So, how do Amazon decide that I'm
- 2:00:49going to get that ad space versus
- 2:00:51someone else who might have a different
- 2:00:52default bid? So, essentially how this
- 2:00:54whole bidding system works is you set a
- 2:00:56bid, then if that bid is higher than
- 2:00:58your competitor's bids, then you will
- 2:01:00win that advertising space. Now, here's
- 2:01:02an example of exactly what I mean. Let's
- 2:01:03just pretend that this is our book and
- 2:01:05we had an auto ad, and our auto ad
- 2:01:08wanted to place our book against the
- 2:01:09search term dinosaur coloring book for
- 2:01:11kids. If you have two different people,
- 2:01:14I'm person A and somebody else is person
- 2:01:16B. My default bid is 40p and their
- 2:01:19default bid is 30p. So generally, who is
- 2:01:22going to win this advertising space?
- 2:01:24Well, the person who bidded more. So I'm
- 2:01:26going to win the advertising space on
- 2:01:28this certain occasion. So the higher
- 2:01:30that you bid, the more times that your
- 2:01:32ad will be shown and hopefully the more
- 2:01:33clicks that you'll get. But what it will
- 2:01:35mean is that you will pay more per
- 2:01:36click. So in this example here, person A
- 2:01:39is probably going to get more clicks on
- 2:01:40the ad, but person B is going to spend
- 2:01:42less per click. Now you might be
- 2:01:44thinking, okay, if person A has a higher
- 2:01:46bid than person B, then how is person B
- 2:01:49ever going to win the auction because
- 2:01:50their bid is just lower than person A.
- 2:01:52But you also have to remember how many
- 2:01:54searches get put into Amazon every
- 2:01:55single day. There are literally millions
- 2:01:57of searches every single day. So all of
- 2:01:59these mini auctions are constantly
- 2:02:01taking place. Person A might have a
- 2:02:03budget that they've used up for the day,
- 2:02:04which basically means then person B can
- 2:02:06then get the next advertising space. So,
- 2:02:08don't worry. It's not all about whoever
- 2:02:09has the highest bid is going to dominate
- 2:02:11and take everyone's auctions. If you
- 2:02:13have a lower bid, you can still win
- 2:02:15auctions because there's just so many
- 2:02:16different variables at play. But you
- 2:02:18have to remember the lower your bid is,
- 2:02:20yes, the less you'll pay per click, but
- 2:02:22you're probably going to get a lot less
- 2:02:23clicks. All about finding this balance.
- 2:02:26So, with all this in mind, you're
- 2:02:27probably thinking, "Okay, Sam, well, how
- 2:02:28much should I actually bid on my ads?"
- 2:02:30And now as a beginner, I suggest
- 2:02:32choosing your bid based on your break
- 2:02:34even point. You have to firstly figure
- 2:02:35out how many royalties you get from each
- 2:02:37book and then set your bid accordingly.
- 2:02:40So let's just say for example you make
- 2:02:42£2 per sale. This is not your book being
- 2:02:44sold for £2. So let's say your book was
- 2:02:46sold for £7 or whatever, but the royalty
- 2:02:49you made per book sale was £2. So
- 2:02:51therefore, every single sale you make,
- 2:02:53you personally get two back. If this is
- 2:02:56the case, then you only have 10 clicks
- 2:02:58on a 20p bid until it becomes quote
- 2:03:00unquote unprofitable. So in this example
- 2:03:03here, if you got two pounds per book
- 2:03:05sale and you put your default bid as
- 2:03:0720p, as long as you make one sale in
- 2:03:09every 10 clicks, you will be making
- 2:03:11money on that ad because 10 clicks times
- 2:03:14by 20p is two pound. So, it's all about
- 2:03:16finding this balance between, you know,
- 2:03:18having a high enough bid that you're
- 2:03:19actually going to get seen and you're
- 2:03:20going to get clicks, but also not having
- 2:03:22too high a bid that you're just going to
- 2:03:24spend loads and loads of money. So,
- 2:03:25you're probably watching this and
- 2:03:26thinking, okay, well, the cheaper the
- 2:03:28bid I have, the better I'm going to be
- 2:03:29because ultimately, if I'm paying less
- 2:03:31per click, I can get so many more clicks
- 2:03:33and then hopefully more of those people
- 2:03:35will actually buy my product. But you
- 2:03:37have to understand, as I kind of
- 2:03:38mentioned a second ago, bidding less
- 2:03:40means that you will win a lot less
- 2:03:41auctions and therefore your ad won't be
- 2:03:44seen many times, if at all. If you have
- 2:03:46a default bid of something like 5 p,
- 2:03:48yes, your cost per click is going to be
- 2:03:50extremely low. You're going to get so
- 2:03:51many more chances before your ad becomes
- 2:03:53unprofitable, but let's be honest, the
- 2:03:55chances are you're literally never going
- 2:03:57to win a single auction because there
- 2:03:59are so many other people who are bidding
- 2:04:00more than you because that is just such
- 2:04:02a low bid having a low bid of something
- 2:04:04like 5p. And this is why it is so
- 2:04:06important to understand the metrics in
- 2:04:08the advertising console. You've probably
- 2:04:10seen these advertising console
- 2:04:11screenshots or you know you've been in
- 2:04:13your own advertising console itself.
- 2:04:14There's so much data in there. It's
- 2:04:16extremely confusing. It's extremely
- 2:04:17overwhelming. But if you know how to
- 2:04:19analyze that data, you can see exactly
- 2:04:22if your bid is cheap enough, if it's too
- 2:04:24expensive, if it's too cheap, and find
- 2:04:26the optimum bid for you based on all of
- 2:04:28these metrics and all of this data. And
- 2:04:30later on this video, I'm going to show
- 2:04:32you exactly how to do that. But before
- 2:04:34we do that, I'm going to take you back
- 2:04:35to this slide where I said there are two
- 2:04:36variables that dictate how much you pay
- 2:04:38for your ads to be shown. The default
- 2:04:40bid, which I've just covered, and also
- 2:04:42the bidding strategy, which we'll move
- 2:04:43on to now. So, the bidding strategy. The
- 2:04:46bidding strategy simply explains how
- 2:04:48your default bid behaves. Now, if you're
- 2:04:50a beginner, I recommend sticking to the
- 2:04:52down only bidding option as this
- 2:04:53basically means you'll never pay more
- 2:04:55than your default bid. So, if you go
- 2:04:57actually set up an Amazon KDP ad, you'll
- 2:04:59select your default bid and then you'll
- 2:05:01have this screen here. I'm going to show
- 2:05:02you exactly how this works and walk you
- 2:05:04through setting up an ad campaign in
- 2:05:06just a second, but this is basically how
- 2:05:08it will look. You can choose either
- 2:05:09dynamic bids down only, which basically
- 2:05:11means it will take your default bid and
- 2:05:14only bid that amount or less. You can
- 2:05:16have dynamic bids up and down, which
- 2:05:18basically means it will increase your
- 2:05:20default bid by a maximum of 100% in real
- 2:05:22time when your ad is more likely to
- 2:05:24convert into a sale. So, it just gives
- 2:05:25it a little bit more flexibility. Or you
- 2:05:27can choose fixed bids where you set a
- 2:05:29default bid of 20p and you bid that
- 2:05:31every single time. No less and no more.
- 2:05:34Now the two most common bidding
- 2:05:35strategies you will see are dynamic bids
- 2:05:37down only and dynamic bids up and down.
- 2:05:39So I'm going to give you a bit more of a
- 2:05:41visual representation of exactly what
- 2:05:42this means. Now these slides were
- 2:05:44actually taken from my KDP ads mastery
- 2:05:46course for all of those people who
- 2:05:47really want to take their ads to the
- 2:05:49next level. So, if you want to check
- 2:05:50that out, I will leave that course
- 2:05:51linked down below in the description.
- 2:05:52And it will essentially teach you
- 2:05:54everything you need to know about
- 2:05:55advertising your KDP books on Amazon and
- 2:05:57crucially prevent you from wasting loads
- 2:05:59of money on ads without knowing what
- 2:06:00you're doing and hopefully make you a
- 2:06:02lot more sales, too. But in this slide,
- 2:06:04I essentially compare the difference
- 2:06:05between a downon bid and an up and down
- 2:06:07bid. So, let's just say you had a
- 2:06:09default bid on your ad of 50p. If you
- 2:06:12chose the dynamic bids down only
- 2:06:14strategy, this basically means that your
- 2:06:16default bid is 50p. your ad is only
- 2:06:19going to spend 50p or less. So anywhere
- 2:06:22between zero and 50p is how much you're
- 2:06:24going to pay for your ad. So sometimes
- 2:06:25it might be cheaper. There might be less
- 2:06:27competition for your certain book or the
- 2:06:29certain target in which case Amazon will
- 2:06:30be like, "Okay, we can win this for less
- 2:06:32than 50p. It might be something like
- 2:06:3425p." So your bid is always going to be
- 2:06:36somewhere between 0 and 50p because it
- 2:06:39basically says, "Here's your default
- 2:06:41bid. Only bid that or lower." On the
- 2:06:43flip side, you then have dynamic bids up
- 2:06:45and down, which basically means here's
- 2:06:47your default bid of 50p. If we think
- 2:06:50it's more likely to convert into a sale,
- 2:06:52then we are prepared to spend at least
- 2:06:54up to 100% above your default bid. So,
- 2:06:57if your default bid is 50p, we're
- 2:06:58basically saying we are okay to bid up
- 2:07:01to £1 if Amazon thinks it's more likely
- 2:07:04to convert into a sale. But equally, if
- 2:07:06it's less likely to convert into a sale
- 2:07:07or there's less competition, it could go
- 2:07:10even lower than 50p. So your range
- 2:07:12becomes 0 to1. So that's basically how
- 2:07:15these two different bidding strategies
- 2:07:16kind of interact with each other. So
- 2:07:18that's everything you need to know about
- 2:07:19the bidding strategy and how Amazon ads
- 2:07:21actually work and where you're actually
- 2:07:22spending your money. I'm now going to
- 2:07:24show you exactly how you can create your
- 2:07:26first ad and start advertising your book
- 2:07:28on KDP. So what you want to do is head
- 2:07:30over to advertising.amazon.com
- 2:07:32and you have to create an Amazon ads
- 2:07:33account. Very, very straightforward to
- 2:07:35do. And then you have to select the
- 2:07:36country that you're advertising in. So
- 2:07:38I'm personally from the UK. So, it will
- 2:07:40by default select United Kingdom, but
- 2:07:42even if you're living in the UK, you can
- 2:07:44advertise in every single one of these
- 2:07:46territories. So, I might create some ads
- 2:07:48in the UK, I might create some ads in
- 2:07:50the US, might create some ads in
- 2:07:51Australia. And I'll leave a link on
- 2:07:52screen now to a video where I show
- 2:07:54exactly how to do that in more detail.
- 2:07:55So, once you finish watching this, you
- 2:07:57can go ahead and watch that video and
- 2:07:58see exactly what I mean. But for this
- 2:08:00example, we're just going to go ahead
- 2:08:01and stick to United Kingdom. So, I'm
- 2:08:03just going to go ahead and press sign
- 2:08:04in. And then it will take you to
- 2:08:05advertising console where you can see
- 2:08:06all of your campaigns. This is currently
- 2:08:08set to a random day in April, but you
- 2:08:10can change this to loads of different
- 2:08:11date periods. And you'll see a big graph
- 2:08:13showing you exactly how all of your ads
- 2:08:14are performing over time. As you can
- 2:08:16see, for this specific day, I spent £14
- 2:08:18on these ads with just under 90 worth of
- 2:08:21sales. So, really, really profitable day
- 2:08:22in terms of ads. And then also, you can
- 2:08:24go up here and select the different
- 2:08:26countries that you want to advertise in.
- 2:08:27So, if I wanted to look at my campaigns
- 2:08:29that specifically for the US market,
- 2:08:31you'd go up and click click United
- 2:08:32States here. And the same for all of
- 2:08:34these different territories. that to go
- 2:08:35in and actually start creating your
- 2:08:37first campaign. Just go over to this
- 2:08:38create a campaign button. And then you
- 2:08:40have the options of sponsored products
- 2:08:41or sponsored brands. This might look a
- 2:08:43little bit different depending on your
- 2:08:44location and also where you're
- 2:08:46advertising in. The one we want for this
- 2:08:48example is sponsored products. So go
- 2:08:49ahead and just click into that. And then
- 2:08:51you have a couple of things that you
- 2:08:52need to do. Now the first thing is your
- 2:08:54ad group name. I always just leave this
- 2:08:56exactly as it is. And then you want to
- 2:08:57go ahead and choose the product you
- 2:08:59specifically want to advertise. Now, I
- 2:09:01have blurred these out because I don't
- 2:09:02want to give away, you know, the books
- 2:09:03that I'm selling cuz people
- 2:09:04unfortunately will just go ahead and
- 2:09:06copy them, which is a bit of a shame.
- 2:09:07But then once you've selected what book
- 2:09:09you want to advertise, it will say one
- 2:09:10product here and show you the book that
- 2:09:12you're advertising against. And then
- 2:09:13simply scroll down and this is where you
- 2:09:15choose the different targeting that you
- 2:09:16want to do. So again, like I said at the
- 2:09:18start of this video, automatic targeting
- 2:09:20or manual targeting. These things below
- 2:09:22will change based on, you know, the the
- 2:09:24type of targeting you want. As I showed
- 2:09:26you in this video, I'm only going to
- 2:09:27focus specifically on automatic
- 2:09:29targeting because this is the simplest
- 2:09:31and the easiest thing to understand. So,
- 2:09:32we're going to start with automatic
- 2:09:33targeting. Then, it comes to setting
- 2:09:35your default bid as I showed you earlier
- 2:09:37on in the slides. So, Amazon will
- 2:09:39recommend you a default bid range in
- 2:09:41which to go into. It's saying here based
- 2:09:42on my book, it should I should have a
- 2:09:44default bid of between 25 and 41 with a
- 2:09:48recommended bid of 33. Now again, I
- 2:09:51would generally take this suggested bid
- 2:09:52with a little bit of a pinch of salt and
- 2:09:54you can just try and test out the
- 2:09:55different bids for yourself. So let's
- 2:09:57just say for the example of this book, I
- 2:09:59made two pound royalty per sale. So if I
- 2:10:01wanted 10 clicks before my ad becomes
- 2:10:03unprofitable, I'm going to put my
- 2:10:05default bid as 0.2 or 20p and that's
- 2:10:08what my default bid is going to be. Then
- 2:10:11have the options for negative keyword
- 2:10:13targeting and negative product
- 2:10:14targeting. This basically means you can
- 2:10:16put in any kind of keyword that you
- 2:10:18don't want your book to show up against.
- 2:10:19So, let's just say for the example of
- 2:10:21this uh ad here, if I had a dinosaur
- 2:10:24coloring book for kids, specifically for
- 2:10:26the kids market, I do not want my ad to
- 2:10:29be showing up anytime someone types in
- 2:10:31dinosaur coloring book for adults. And
- 2:10:35not sure how many people would be
- 2:10:36searching this in, but every time
- 2:10:38someone searched this in, we do not want
- 2:10:39our ad to be shown against that because
- 2:10:41our book is for kids. anyone who sees
- 2:10:43our ad, clicks into it, and they're
- 2:10:45looking to buy it for themselves or for
- 2:10:46an adult, they're not going to buy ours,
- 2:10:48and we're just wasting loads of money.
- 2:10:50So, this is where you can put in kind of
- 2:10:51keywords or products that you don't want
- 2:10:53to be targeting against. So, your
- 2:10:54keywords go in there, and then your
- 2:10:56products go in here. Go ahead and put in
- 2:10:58the asins of the products that you don't
- 2:11:00want to, you know, advertise against.
- 2:11:02And then you have your campaign bidding
- 2:11:03strategy. So, exactly how this default
- 2:11:06bid behaves. Now, depending on which of
- 2:11:08these bidding strategies that you
- 2:11:09choose, it will change the recommended
- 2:11:11bid. So, if I go for dynamic bids up and
- 2:11:13down, it will suggest that my default
- 2:11:14bid is 33p. But if I change this to
- 2:11:17dynamic bids down only, it would change
- 2:11:19this to 48p because basically we're
- 2:11:21saying 48p or below for down only.
- 2:11:24Whereas, if it's dynamic bids, we're
- 2:11:25giving that freedom to potentially bid
- 2:11:27more and therefore Amazon recommend a
- 2:11:29lower default bid. But again, it's
- 2:11:31entirely up to you. If you're a beginner
- 2:11:32and you don't want to spend too much
- 2:11:33money, that's why I recommend going for
- 2:11:35dynamic bids down only starting with a
- 2:11:37relatively low bid. And then if you're
- 2:11:39not getting any action, any impressions,
- 2:11:40any clicks on your ads, then you can
- 2:11:42slowly increase that bid over time. But
- 2:11:44don't worry about that now. I'll show
- 2:11:46you later on this video exactly how to
- 2:11:47do that. So for this example, we're
- 2:11:49going to go for a 20p default bid,
- 2:11:51dynamic bids down only, which basically
- 2:11:53means we will never spend more than 20p
- 2:11:55per click. Anything that's 20p or below,
- 2:11:58we can compete for. And then you have
- 2:12:00the option for bid adjustments. Now,
- 2:12:02this is a little bit more advanced, so
- 2:12:03as a beginner, honestly, I wouldn't
- 2:12:04worry about these uh too much. And then
- 2:12:06you need to go ahead and name your
- 2:12:08campaign. So it's really really
- 2:12:09important you're as organized as
- 2:12:11possible. Trust me, when you have 100
- 2:12:13plus campaigns, if you're not organized
- 2:12:15with your naming structure, it can
- 2:12:16become an absolute nightmare. So I
- 2:12:18recommend going with the type of ad. So
- 2:12:20I've gone for auto. I've gone for down
- 2:12:22only as the bidding strategy. And I've
- 2:12:25gone for 0.2 as the bid. And then you
- 2:12:28can just put the name of the book. So
- 2:12:30let's go for dinosaur coloring.
- 2:12:33And that's basically how I name this. So
- 2:12:34whenever I look into my ads console, I
- 2:12:36know, okay, this is an auto ad with a
- 2:12:3820p down only bid for my dinosaur
- 2:12:40coloring book rather than just having
- 2:12:42random kind of words and and names. That
- 2:12:45just gets confusing. Please be
- 2:12:46organized. Then you can choose exactly
- 2:12:48what portfolio you want your book to go
- 2:12:50into. Again, wouldn't worry about this
- 2:12:51too much as a beginner, but it basically
- 2:12:53just means you can organize all of your
- 2:12:55book and your advertising into
- 2:12:57portfolios. Leave the start and end
- 2:12:59dates exactly as you were unless you
- 2:13:00want to have an end date to your
- 2:13:01advertising campaign. Literally, every
- 2:13:03single one of my ads don't have an end
- 2:13:05date. They just kind of run as long as I
- 2:13:06want them to. And then you can just turn
- 2:13:08them off manually whenever you want. And
- 2:13:10then you set a daily budget. Now, this
- 2:13:11is one thing where a lot of people have
- 2:13:13a lot of questions in terms of their
- 2:13:14daily budgets. This is basically the
- 2:13:17maximum you are prepared to spend on
- 2:13:18your advertising campaign every single
- 2:13:20day. So, I just go for £12 here. That's
- 2:13:23what it's suggesting. Again, this does
- 2:13:24by no means mean you will spend £12 on
- 2:13:28your ad campaign. How much you spend is
- 2:13:30completely dictated by your default bid.
- 2:13:32If this bid was something like two
- 2:13:34pound, I'm going to win a lot of
- 2:13:35auctions and I'm going to get a lot of
- 2:13:37clicks, but I'm going to go to my budget
- 2:13:39quite quickly. So, as you can see, once
- 2:13:41I increase my bid to two pound,
- 2:13:43therefore suggest a higher daily budget.
- 2:13:45So, your daily budget is literally only
- 2:13:47there as a safety net. If you're being
- 2:13:49quite cautious with your default bid,
- 2:13:51you probably won't actually reach your
- 2:13:52daily budget. So, if I have a default
- 2:13:54bid of 20p, it's very unlikely I'll get
- 2:13:56anywhere near this budget because 20p
- 2:13:58just isn't a very high bid. So, it's
- 2:14:00entirely up to you how much daily budget
- 2:14:02you want to use. But just cuz you put
- 2:14:04£12 here does not mean that every single
- 2:14:06day you will spend £12. Then once you're
- 2:14:09happy with that, all you want to do is
- 2:14:10go ahead and press launch campaign. And
- 2:14:11within 24 to 48 hours, your ad will be
- 2:14:14live on Amazon. And then you can start
- 2:14:15seeing all the data and how the ad is
- 2:14:17performing. And I'm going to show you
- 2:14:19exactly how to do all of that now. So,
- 2:14:21up to this point, we have learned
- 2:14:22exactly what Amazon KDP ads are, how
- 2:14:24they work, why you need to use them, and
- 2:14:26we've actually created our first ad. Our
- 2:14:28ad is now live. We now need to
- 2:14:30understand exactly how our ad is
- 2:14:31performing and how we can monitor it. So
- 2:14:33within your Amazon ads console, you'll
- 2:14:35have the name of the campaign. So the
- 2:14:37example here would have been auto down
- 2:14:39only 0.2 and dinosaur. So this is the
- 2:14:41specific campaign all of these metrics
- 2:14:43are referring to. You can see exactly
- 2:14:45how many impressions it got, how many
- 2:14:46clicks it got, the spend, the cost per
- 2:14:49click, the orders, the sales, the a
- 2:14:50cost. Now these are generally the
- 2:14:52columns that I recommend that you
- 2:14:53select. In order to select these, all
- 2:14:55you want to do is go ahead and press
- 2:14:56this columns button, and it will
- 2:14:57basically give you a drop down of all of
- 2:14:59the different metrics that you can use.
- 2:15:00I recommend you always have these ones
- 2:15:03selected. And what I mean by this, you
- 2:15:04just go into this columns button here,
- 2:15:05and then go to customize columns. You
- 2:15:07can just select all the ones that you
- 2:15:09want to select. So, you want to pause
- 2:15:10the video and just have the same ones
- 2:15:12that I've got selected here, then of
- 2:15:13course you can do that. These are the
- 2:15:15ones I recommend you have selected. And
- 2:15:17the reasons I recommend you select these
- 2:15:18is because they tell you so much about
- 2:15:20what's actually going on with your ads.
- 2:15:21So I'm going to go through each of these
- 2:15:22ones individually and explain exactly
- 2:15:24what they mean and how you can monitor
- 2:15:26them. So I'm going to walk through each
- 2:15:27of these individual metrics through one
- 2:15:29by one. Now the reason why this is
- 2:15:31blurred out again is because it's the
- 2:15:32name of the campaign. It will actually
- 2:15:33give away uh the name of one of my books
- 2:15:35and again unfortunately people just go
- 2:15:37ahead and copy my books which I don't
- 2:15:39want. So that's why this is blurred out.
- 2:15:41But I'm going to be focusing
- 2:15:42specifically on each of these individual
- 2:15:43metrics. So let's start with
- 2:15:45impressions. So impressions are
- 2:15:46basically how many times your ad has
- 2:15:49been seen. So for this example here,
- 2:15:51this ad was seen 25,846
- 2:15:55times. So I essentially won 25,846
- 2:15:58auctions in which my ad was then
- 2:16:00actually seen. Now a big problem that a
- 2:16:02lot of people have when it comes to
- 2:16:04advertising on Amazon KDP is they'll
- 2:16:05say, "Okay, well I've got my campaign
- 2:16:07set up, but why is my ad not spending
- 2:16:09any money?" And you can use your
- 2:16:10impressions to understand exactly what's
- 2:16:12going on here. Because if your
- 2:16:14impressions are really low, it basically
- 2:16:15means people aren't seeing your ad. And
- 2:16:18the reason that you're not seeing your
- 2:16:19ad is because you're not winning enough
- 2:16:21auctions and you're not winning enough
- 2:16:23auctions because your bids aren't high
- 2:16:25enough. So therefore, if your ad isn't
- 2:16:27spending and your impressions are super
- 2:16:29low, just go ahead and increase your
- 2:16:31default bid and you should start to see
- 2:16:33your impressions slowly increase. Now,
- 2:16:34now you're probably watching this
- 2:16:35thinking, Sam, what's a good number of
- 2:16:37impressions every single day.
- 2:16:38Unfortunately, there is no set answer.
- 2:16:40It depends on way too many variables.
- 2:16:42what your default bid is, how popular
- 2:16:44the niches that you're searching in
- 2:16:45because really popular niches are
- 2:16:47naturally going to get a lot more
- 2:16:48searches per day. So, there's no kind of
- 2:16:50set rule of what's a good number of
- 2:16:52impressions. You will generally over
- 2:16:54time get a feel for yourself and your
- 2:16:55books, just what a good number of
- 2:16:57impressions is. If you increase your
- 2:16:59default bid, your impressions will
- 2:17:00increase. So, just do that until you're
- 2:17:02happy with the number of impressions
- 2:17:03that you're getting. Now, that's the
- 2:17:04first reason why your ad might not be
- 2:17:06spending is just because your default
- 2:17:08bid is not high enough. But there is a
- 2:17:09possible situation where your bid is
- 2:17:11high enough, you're getting a lot of
- 2:17:12impressions, but it's still not spending
- 2:17:14any money. And if this is the case, this
- 2:17:16is because you're winning bids, your
- 2:17:18book is being shown to people, but
- 2:17:20people just aren't interested. So, this
- 2:17:21is definitely more of a common cause
- 2:17:23with manual ads. Maybe you're targeting
- 2:17:25a keyword that actually isn't that
- 2:17:26related to your book, and therefore,
- 2:17:28people are seeing it, but because it's
- 2:17:29not related to what they're actually
- 2:17:31searching in, they're not going to click
- 2:17:32it. So, with Amazon auto ads, you're
- 2:17:34very unlikely to have this situation.
- 2:17:36It's mainly going to be this one, but I
- 2:17:37just wanted to include this in case any
- 2:17:39of you are using manual ads and you're
- 2:17:41coming across this issue, too. So,
- 2:17:42that's impressions. Now, let's move on
- 2:17:44to clicks. Very straightforward. How
- 2:17:46many times your ad has been clicked. So,
- 2:17:48in this example here, it was seen 25,846
- 2:17:52times and it was clicked 375 times. And
- 2:17:56this will allow you to understand if
- 2:17:58people actually want to buy your book.
- 2:17:59If I just go back to this example here,
- 2:18:01if your impressions are really high, but
- 2:18:03you're not spending any money, it means
- 2:18:04you're not spending any money because
- 2:18:06people aren't clicking into your ad. So,
- 2:18:08this example here, if I had 25,846
- 2:18:11impressions, but zero clicks, no one out
- 2:18:14of 25,000 people have clicked into my
- 2:18:16ad. So, there's definitely something
- 2:18:18wrong um with my book and where it's
- 2:18:20being placed because people just aren't
- 2:18:21interested. So, this is what I mean by
- 2:18:23if your clicks are really low, then you
- 2:18:24need to look at your impressions to
- 2:18:25understand what's going on. So, by this
- 2:18:27I mean if your impressions are high and
- 2:18:29your clicks are low, it basically means
- 2:18:31people aren't interested in your book.
- 2:18:32But if your clicks are really low and
- 2:18:34your impressions are also really low,
- 2:18:36the reason why your clicks are low is
- 2:18:37because people just simply aren't seeing
- 2:18:39it, i.e. don't have an impression and
- 2:18:41therefore again you need to increase
- 2:18:42your default bit. Now, I appreciate for
- 2:18:44a beginner some of this stuff might be a
- 2:18:46little bit complicated at first, but
- 2:18:48trust me, it's actually quite
- 2:18:49straightforward, which is why I
- 2:18:50recommend watching this section
- 2:18:52specifically through a couple of times,
- 2:18:54and just get really familiar with
- 2:18:55exactly the things that I'm talking
- 2:18:57about. And on the flip side of this
- 2:18:58example here, if your clicks are really
- 2:19:00high, but there are no sales, then it
- 2:19:02means people are seeing your ad, they're
- 2:19:04clicking into it, but they're therefore
- 2:19:06not buying it. And this is a problem
- 2:19:08with your book itself because people,
- 2:19:10you know, your book is probably the
- 2:19:11right match for a certain person.
- 2:19:13They've clicked into it, but for
- 2:19:14whatever reason, they've decided not to
- 2:19:16buy it. Now, and if this is quite a
- 2:19:18common occurrence, there's definitely an
- 2:19:19issue with your book. So, I'd go into
- 2:19:21your book listing, improve its cover,
- 2:19:23improve improve just the overall listing
- 2:19:24altogether, and make it a much more
- 2:19:26appealing proposition to stop people
- 2:19:28going into your book and then clicking
- 2:19:30off into somebody else's. Now, again, as
- 2:19:32a beginner, don't worry too much about
- 2:19:33this kind of level of depth initially.
- 2:19:36This will kind of come naturally over
- 2:19:37time as you expose yourself to Amazon
- 2:19:39ads a bit more, but I just want to
- 2:19:40include it in here because it is really
- 2:19:42important. Now, the next metric to cover
- 2:19:44is spend, but it's actually a very, very
- 2:19:46straightforward one, so I'm not going to
- 2:19:47spend a huge amount of time on this.
- 2:19:49This basically means how much you have
- 2:19:50spent in your ad. So, for this example,
- 2:19:52we had 25,846
- 2:19:54people see it. 375 people clicked it,
- 2:19:57and it means we spent £1405.
- 2:20:00So, I'm not going to go into a huge
- 2:20:02amount of depth on spend because it's
- 2:20:03quite straightforward. But what is
- 2:20:04important here too is cost per click.
- 2:20:06And this helps you understand that spend
- 2:20:09number a bit better because cost per
- 2:20:11click essentially helps you understand
- 2:20:12the average spend per click. So, if I
- 2:20:15look at this number here, I had 25,846
- 2:20:18impressions. 375 people of this number
- 2:20:22clicked and I spent £1405,
- 2:20:26which means on average I paid 37 per
- 2:20:29click. 37 P* 375 is 140.05. So spend is
- 2:20:36quite an obvious and quite an easy
- 2:20:37metric to understand. Cost per click is
- 2:20:39a really interesting one because it
- 2:20:41allows you to see exactly how much
- 2:20:42you're spending for someone to click
- 2:20:44into your ad. And in this example, my
- 2:20:46cost per click was 37. And it will also
- 2:20:49show you how your default bid is
- 2:20:51behaving. So for this example here, just
- 2:20:53please ignore these numbers at the top
- 2:20:54and just look at the numbers that I'm
- 2:20:55talking about down here. Let's just say
- 2:20:57you set up an ad campaign with a default
- 2:20:59bid of 20p with the down only bidding
- 2:21:02strategy. Let's just say over time your
- 2:21:04cost per click came back at 19 p. So
- 2:21:06it's really pushing the upper bounds of
- 2:21:08that default bid. This basically would
- 2:21:10tell me that you're winning a lot of
- 2:21:12bids, but you're winning a lot of bids
- 2:21:13right at the top. So you could actually
- 2:21:15probably get away with bidding a little
- 2:21:17bit more money. maybe increasing this to
- 2:21:1925p and your cost per click will
- 2:21:21probably increase because you're now
- 2:21:22telling your ad, okay, I'm happy to
- 2:21:24spend a little bit more money per click,
- 2:21:26but you should hopefully start getting a
- 2:21:28lot more clicks and therefore a lot more
- 2:21:30sales. So, it's really important to look
- 2:21:31at your cost per click because it will
- 2:21:32basically show you if you need to
- 2:21:34increase your default bid a lot. If this
- 2:21:36cost per click with a default bid of 20p
- 2:21:38was something like 5 p or 10 p, this
- 2:21:40basically tells you that you're winning
- 2:21:41so many bids for way less than your
- 2:21:43default bid and therefore you don't need
- 2:21:45to increase it. The next two metrics are
- 2:21:47pretty straightforward. Orders and also
- 2:21:49sales. So orders basically of these 375
- 2:21:52people who clicked, how many orders did
- 2:21:54you get? And of all these 114 orders,
- 2:21:57what was your total sales number? Now
- 2:21:58the sales number is a sales number, not
- 2:22:02a royalties number. So I didn't make
- 2:22:04£81783.
- 2:22:06That's the sale price of my book. So
- 2:22:08let's just say my book was £6.99. This
- 2:22:11sales number would basically be £6.99
- 2:22:13times by the number of orders. I can't
- 2:22:15exactly remember in this example how
- 2:22:17much it cost, but this is a sales
- 2:22:19number. Just because you spent £140
- 2:22:21doesn't mean you personally have got
- 2:22:23£817 because remember, you take a
- 2:22:26royalty cut of your sale price. Now,
- 2:22:28you're probably thinking, how on earth
- 2:22:29do I calculate exactly how much I've
- 2:22:31taken back or if my ad is even
- 2:22:32profitable if it's not going to show me
- 2:22:34the royalty amount? And that is where
- 2:22:36this A cost comes in. So, AOS stands for
- 2:22:39advertising cost of sale. And it's
- 2:22:41calculated by taking the spend of your
- 2:22:42ad, so 140.05 05 and dividing it by the
- 2:22:46sales number, tsing by 100. And it
- 2:22:48basically just means of this £817 worth
- 2:22:51of sales, what percentage of this amount
- 2:22:54did we spend on the ads? So, for
- 2:22:56example, here, if we got £817 worth of
- 2:22:59sales and we spent £140, £140 is 17.12%
- 2:23:05of this £817 sales number. Now, don't
- 2:23:08get too bogged down into the specifics
- 2:23:09of exactly how this is calculated.
- 2:23:11Basically, what you want to just use
- 2:23:12this a cost number is it's the easiest
- 2:23:15way to establish the profitability of
- 2:23:17your book. So, it basically means that
- 2:23:19rather than going in and manually having
- 2:23:20to do all the maths and remembering what
- 2:23:22royalty you got per book and then tsing
- 2:23:24that by the number of orders and that's
- 2:23:26how much money you've actually made, a
- 2:23:27cost allows you to understand this
- 2:23:29literally in a couple of seconds just by
- 2:23:31looking at this number. So, the first
- 2:23:33thing you want to do to actually
- 2:23:34understand your a cost is to calculate
- 2:23:35your break even a cost. So basically the
- 2:23:38number that this a cost shows where
- 2:23:39you're actually breaking even. And the
- 2:23:41best way to do this is to take your book
- 2:23:42royalty and divide it by your book sale
- 2:23:45price. So let's just say I listed a book
- 2:23:46for £6.99 on Amazon and every single
- 2:23:49time that book sold, I made £249 back in
- 2:23:53royalties. I would take that book
- 2:23:54royalty of £249, divide that by my book
- 2:23:58sale price of £6.99, giving me a break
- 2:24:01even a cost of 35.6%.
- 2:24:04Now, I'm sure there's a lot of people
- 2:24:05watching this now scratching their
- 2:24:06heads, being really confused at the
- 2:24:08maths. Again, this looks a lot more
- 2:24:10complicated than it is. You just need to
- 2:24:12look and do the math. Book royalty
- 2:24:14divided by sale price. This is your
- 2:24:16break even a cost. And then if your a
- 2:24:18cost in any of your ad campaigns is
- 2:24:20below this number, then you are
- 2:24:22profitable. So, in this example here, my
- 2:24:24a cost is 17.12%.
- 2:24:27So, it's a really low a cost, which
- 2:24:28means it's a very profitable ad
- 2:24:30campaign. So I can look at this straight
- 2:24:32away and because I know my break even a
- 2:24:34cost is 35.6%.
- 2:24:36As long as this number is below 35.6%
- 2:24:40this ad is profitable. If this a cost
- 2:24:42was putting through at something like
- 2:24:4350% I would know okay because that's
- 2:24:45higher than my break even a cost I am
- 2:24:47losing more money than this ad is
- 2:24:49actually gaining me. So that's how you
- 2:24:50calculate break even a cost. Again these
- 2:24:53kind of metrics can be a little bit
- 2:24:55confusing especially if you're a
- 2:24:57beginner. So, I recommend going through
- 2:24:58and watching this specific section a
- 2:25:00couple of times until you're fully aware
- 2:25:02of exactly what is going on, but I
- 2:25:04promise you it's a lot more
- 2:25:05straightforward to understand than it
- 2:25:07might seem at first glance. And this is
- 2:25:09also taken from that KDP ads mastery
- 2:25:11course that I mentioned a second ago.
- 2:25:13Feel free to screenshot, save this if
- 2:25:14you want to. And this basically gives
- 2:25:16you a little bit more information about
- 2:25:17all these different ad metrics and how
- 2:25:19they interact. Now, don't again get too
- 2:25:21overwhelmed by all of this, especially
- 2:25:23if you're a beginner. But if you do want
- 2:25:24to know, I'll just walk you through this
- 2:25:25very quickly, but essentially it shows
- 2:25:27how all of these different metrics
- 2:25:28interact. Now, I've touched on a couple
- 2:25:30of them here. So, impressions, how many
- 2:25:32times your ad was seen. Clicks, how many
- 2:25:34times of those a,000 people here clicked
- 2:25:36into your ad. So, if you had 20 clicks
- 2:25:38from a,000 impressions, that will give
- 2:25:40you what's known as a click-through rate
- 2:25:41of 2%. Which basically means of these
- 2:25:441,000 people, 2% of people actually
- 2:25:46clicked because 20 is 2% of a,000. If
- 2:25:50you then had 20 clicks and you spent
- 2:25:52£15, that's where your cost per click
- 2:25:54that I mentioned earlier is calculated
- 2:25:56from. So if you had 20 clicks and your
- 2:25:58spend was £15, you would have a cost per
- 2:26:01click of 75p because 75p * 20 is £15.
- 2:26:06And then finally, you have the a cost.
- 2:26:07So if I spent £15 and I got £100 worth
- 2:26:10of sales, this would give me an a cost
- 2:26:12of 15% because 15 is obviously 15% of
- 2:26:17100. So that's exactly how these metrics
- 2:26:18work. Now again, this might be quite a
- 2:26:20lot of information to take in as a
- 2:26:21beginner, but I did want to include it
- 2:26:23because it is really important to
- 2:26:24ultimately eventually get to the point
- 2:26:26where you do understand these metrics. I
- 2:26:28could keep everything extremely top
- 2:26:29level and extremely simple, but those
- 2:26:31aren't the things that are actually
- 2:26:32really going to make the difference with
- 2:26:34your ads. This is the kind of stuff
- 2:26:36that's really going to make a
- 2:26:37difference. So, that is everything you
- 2:26:38need to know to really start seeing some
- 2:26:40progress and some success with your
- 2:26:41Amazon KDP ads, especially if you're a
- 2:26:43beginner. So, there you go. There is a
- 2:26:45complete step-by-step guide to how to
- 2:26:47start and launch an Amazon KDP business
- 2:26:49in 2026 and beyond, and crucially, how
- 2:26:51to make your first $1,000
- 2:26:53self-publishing on Amazon KDP. Now, I'm
- 2:26:55just going to go very quickly back to
- 2:26:57the start of this video where I showed
- 2:26:58you this winning KDP system. And this is
- 2:27:00the exact system that we have walked
- 2:27:02through in this video, and I'm just
- 2:27:04going to recap it again just so you know
- 2:27:06exactly why you're doing the things
- 2:27:07you're doing. So, step one, the first
- 2:27:08thing we covered is niche research. This
- 2:27:10is essentially researching on Amazon and
- 2:27:12using tools to identify where the
- 2:27:14opportunities are. Remember searching
- 2:27:16for what customers are actually
- 2:27:18searching for. Is there enough demand
- 2:27:19for that? If there is, then have a look
- 2:27:21to see if these books are selling. And
- 2:27:23then finally, try and find your own
- 2:27:25unique way into these kind of busy
- 2:27:27niches where you have your own route and
- 2:27:29much less competition and you can also
- 2:27:31justify a slightly higher price with a
- 2:27:33higher quality book. That's what niche
- 2:27:35research is all about. We then moved on
- 2:27:36to step two, which is actually creating
- 2:27:38the book. And we used a tool called KD
- 2:27:40to create coloring books extremely
- 2:27:42easily and crucially extremely
- 2:27:44affordably. Loads of people who are
- 2:27:45beginners to Amazon KDP are going to be
- 2:27:47creating things like line journals and
- 2:27:49notebooks. And you're not going to be
- 2:27:50competing against any of these people
- 2:27:52because you're producing coloring books,
- 2:27:53which not only are significantly higher
- 2:27:55quality, you can also charge way more
- 2:27:57for them and make a lot more money. So
- 2:27:59other beginners are going to be stuck
- 2:28:01making line journals that literally
- 2:28:02don't sell. And thanks to Kit making,
- 2:28:04you know, AI coloring books so much
- 2:28:06easier to create, you're going to be so
- 2:28:08many steps ahead most other beginners at
- 2:28:10this point. So that is step two,
- 2:28:11creating the book. We then went to step
- 2:28:13three, which is optimizing our book
- 2:28:15listing. So we uploaded the book to
- 2:28:16Amazon. I showed you how to get keywords
- 2:28:18in your title, how to format your
- 2:28:20description properly and how to fill in
- 2:28:22your backend seven keyword boxes. Again,
- 2:28:24we heavily relied on self-publishing
- 2:28:25titans for a lot of that data there.
- 2:28:27That will essentially boost our organic
- 2:28:29ranking. Step four, we then moved on to
- 2:28:31how to get reviews for our book. So, I
- 2:28:33used book bouncing and showed you
- 2:28:34exactly how you can use that tool to get
- 2:28:36reviews on your Amazon KDP book, which
- 2:28:38essentially increases your conversion
- 2:28:40rate and means more people who land on
- 2:28:42your book will end up buying your book
- 2:28:44and you'll just make a lot more money.
- 2:28:46And then finally, advertising your book.
- 2:28:48So, how to use Amazon ads to get your
- 2:28:50book in front of the right customers.
- 2:28:52Super in-depth video going through
- 2:28:53exactly how to do that. And the reason
- 2:28:55why this is after getting reviews on
- 2:28:57your book, because if you have a 100
- 2:28:59people who land on your book listing
- 2:29:00from ads and that book has a few reviews
- 2:29:02on it, you're going to get way more
- 2:29:04sales from that example than you are if
- 2:29:06you have a 100 people landing on your
- 2:29:07book with no reviews, which is why
- 2:29:09advertising your book is step five. And
- 2:29:11getting reviews on your book is step
- 2:29:12four. And then the final step, make
- 2:29:14money and repeat. If you follow these
- 2:29:16steps, that is a book that you can sell
- 2:29:18on Amazon KDP that genuinely has
- 2:29:20potential to make you money. Everyone
- 2:29:22watching this video is going to be a
- 2:29:23different part. Some people will have
- 2:29:24have a bit of experience from this. Some
- 2:29:26people will be completely starting from
- 2:29:27new. So you just have to keep repeating
- 2:29:29this process. There's only there is only
- 2:29:31so much that someone can tell you. You
- 2:29:33sometimes do have to learn by doing so.
- 2:29:35Don't expect your first book to be a
- 2:29:37bestseller or to make you thousands
- 2:29:38every single month. You have to see this
- 2:29:40as a 6 to 12 month project and really
- 2:29:43put the time in to learn what goes
- 2:29:44right, what doesn't go right, and really
- 2:29:46double down on the things that are
- 2:29:48working. But if you follow this system,
- 2:29:50you are much more likely to find that
- 2:29:52sooner rather than later. So, simply
- 2:29:54just repeat this process, learn every
- 2:29:56single time you do it, and before you
- 2:29:57know it, you will have made your first
- 2:29:59$1,000 from Amazon KDP. And once you've
- 2:30:01done that and you're feeling a lot more
- 2:30:03comfortable, then you're probably ready
- 2:30:04to check out my advanced Amazon KDP
- 2:30:06course, which I will leave linked on
- 2:30:08screen now for you to go ahead and check
- 2:30:09out. But I would recommend only doing
- 2:30:11this once you've made your first $1,000,
- 2:30:13cuz there are some quite advanced and
- 2:30:15confusing things in that video.
- 2:30:17Definitely stick to this. This system
- 2:30:18definitely works to get you to your
- 2:30:20first thousand. Once you've done that,
- 2:30:21you can then moved on to the advanced
- 2:30:23course. But as I say, any questions you
- 2:30:25have, let me know down in the comment
- 2:30:26section below.
