  1. 0:01Welcome to Launderbat News. Today I am
  2. 0:04America's number one favorite laundromat
  3. 0:08news anchor and the only one, Jordan
  4. 0:11Barry, bringing you news from around the
  5. 0:14world, all things laundromat related.
  6. 0:16Let's start with where we've been
  7. 0:18starting lately with the Alliance
  8. 0:21Laundry Holdings stock ticker. It is
  9. 0:23down over the last month or so. As I'm
  10. 0:27recording this, the stock price for uh
  11. 0:31Alliance Laundry Holding Inc. is $20.98.
  12. 0:35So, about a month ago, month and a week
  13. 0:37ago or so. Uh it was up around the 26
  14. 0:40and change mark. And uh it's it's down
  15. 0:44from there right now. So, we'll keep an
  16. 0:45eye on that. The reason, by the way,
  17. 0:48that I want to keep an eye on that is
  18. 0:50because, and we've talked about this on
  19. 0:52here, but listen, when a company goes
  20. 0:54public, their primary responsibility is
  21. 0:57to their investors, which means they
  22. 0:59have to drive profit. And that profit
  23. 1:03can only come from a few different
  24. 1:05sources. That is raising their prices.
  25. 1:09That is selling us more stuff. and that
  26. 1:14is introducing new parts of the business
  27. 1:18uh to drive more revenue sources. So, uh
  28. 1:24all of those things rely on us spending
  29. 1:26more money. So, that's why I'm keeping
  30. 1:27an eye on it. That's why I think it's
  31. 1:28important. Um and you know, being one of
  32. 1:31the big dogs in the industry, other
  33. 1:34companies are likely to follow suit with
  34. 1:37whatever they do. So, let's keep an eye
  35. 1:38on that. uh stock holdings $20.98 today.
  36. 1:43And while we're on the topic of Alliance
  37. 1:47Laundry
  38. 1:49driving more profits, a brand new Speed
  39. 1:52Queen laundromat franchise is set to
  40. 1:55open in Santa Ana, California, beginning
  41. 1:57of January, around January 9th. Uh
  42. 2:00listen, I've made my stance on this
  43. 2:02pretty clear. I think us as laundromat
  44. 2:05owners should make our stance very clear
  45. 2:07on this. This is not okay for the
  46. 2:09manufacturer that we are purchasing
  47. 2:11equipment from to be putting in
  48. 2:14franchises down the street from our
  49. 2:16stores, especially when we buy Speed
  50. 2:19Queen or Hip Equipment uh to put in our
  51. 2:22stores. And that has happened on
  52. 2:23multiple occasions. Uh and yet again,
  53. 2:27another Speed Queen franchise opening up
  54. 2:29in Santa Ana. So, just, you know, again,
  55. 2:32I'm just kind of keeping an eye on
  56. 2:33what's going on in the industry right
  57. 2:34now. And uh I've got my eyeball on the
  58. 2:37manufacturers uh pretty uh pretty big
  59. 2:40right now. Um okay, so I want to jump
  60. 2:42into another company making some
  61. 2:44positive waves in the industry right
  62. 2:46now. Not to say that alliance isn't
  63. 2:47doing anything positive because they
  64. 2:49are. Um, but Wash Drive Trifold POS sent
  65. 2:52over a press release announcing the new
  66. 2:55uh machine start integration which is
  67. 2:57designed to help laundromat owners
  68. 3:00reduce
  69. 3:01theft and streamline operations for wash
  70. 3:04dry fold and pickup and delivery
  71. 3:05services. The integrations connect
  72. 3:07directly with major systems including
  73. 3:10speed queen insights, hips command
  74. 3:12[clears throat]
  75. 3:13alliance, laundro links, fast card, flex
  76. 3:16card, and more allowing attendants to
  77. 3:18start washers and dryers directly from
  78. 3:21the POSOS system. No coins, no cards, no
  79. 3:25manual workarounds. And according to
  80. 3:27Wash Drive full poss,
  81. 3:32it's uncontrolled machine access.
  82. 3:35And when attendants have unlimited start
  83. 3:37capability, abuse can and does happen.
  84. 3:40Some of you guys have been there and
  85. 3:42seen it. I know I have. Uh the new
  86. 3:45system ties every machine start directly
  87. 3:48to a paid order, logging vend values and
  88. 3:51tracking them as a percentage of the
  89. 3:53total revenue. Uh for Alliance Laundry
  90. 3:56Systems equipment, attendants can start
  91. 3:57machines by tapping the unit inside the
  92. 4:00POS order tracker. Other integrations
  93. 4:03allow attendants to start machines from
  94. 4:06their phones, adding biometric security
  95. 4:08like Face ID uh or Android verification.
  96. 4:12Listen, this is another example of where
  97. 4:13the industry is heading. Less friction
  98. 4:16for attendance, but more control and
  99. 4:18visibility for owners. This is another
  100. 4:21step in this progression we've been
  101. 4:22systematically taking in this industry
  102. 4:24to make it easier to own more locations
  103. 4:28to make it easier to own them in diverse
  104. 4:30locations uh and remotely. Um again
  105. 4:35another example of us kind of making
  106. 4:37steps towards that. And these steps all
  107. 4:40again I just bringing stuff up that I'm
  108. 4:42thinking about over here. These steps
  109. 4:44all are um precursors or potential
  110. 4:47precursors at least to bigger money
  111. 4:50coming in people buying up multiple
  112. 4:52multiple locations. So again this is not
  113. 4:55a negative thing in my view. This is
  114. 4:56definitely a positive thing for
  115. 4:57independent owners operators. So kudos
  116. 5:00to Wash Driveold POS uh for this and
  117. 5:03make sure you're utilizing these things.
  118. 5:05Stay on top of the technology. However,
  119. 5:07we also need to look macro big picture
  120. 5:09what's going on in the industry. And you
  121. 5:11know, there's some stuff being uh
  122. 5:14introduced right now that allow more
  123. 5:17players, big players to get into this
  124. 5:19laundromat game. So, this means we got
  125. 5:21to up our games as owners and operators.
  126. 5:24So, wanted to uh wanted to include that
  127. 5:26in there. I will make sure to include
  128. 5:29the full press release in uh our email
  129. 5:32newsletter. So, if you're not subscribed
  130. 5:33to that, go to lawmresource.com and
  131. 5:35subscribe to the email newsletter. We'll
  132. 5:37have that press release and all the
  133. 5:39other links that we're talking about
  134. 5:40today. Um, and speaking of technology
  135. 5:44trends in the industry, uh, now there
  136. 5:48are more and more uh, people utilizing
  137. 5:53the latest technology and solar and wind
  138. 5:55power in uh, specifically in the dry
  139. 5:58side of the uh, of the industry here.
  140. 6:01And uh you may have seen people using
  141. 6:04this by hanging up their laundry outside
  142. 6:07in the sun in the wind. All right, that
  143. 6:09was our joke for today. Uh but you know,
  144. 6:12genuinely solar, wind power, all that
  145. 6:14stuff is happening. But you know,
  146. 6:17whatever. Okay, that [laughter] was my
  147. 6:19attempt at a joke. All right, let's keep
  148. 6:21it moving because this is not a joke.
  149. 6:25Singer Emily Strayer of the Chicks,
  150. 6:27formerly of the Dixie Chicks, has opened
  151. 6:30a laundromat and coffee bar in San
  152. 6:34Antonio, Texas, uh called the Soap
  153. 6:36Laundry Lounge. So, if you're in the
  154. 6:39area, go check it out. That's Emily
  155. 6:42Strayer of the Chicks, formerly known as
  156. 6:44the Dixie Chicks, uh has gotten into the
  157. 6:47game. Listen, we know we've hit it big
  158. 6:50when,
  159. 6:51you know, country stars are entering the
  160. 6:55chat here. All right. Uh, pretty cool.
  161. 6:57Um, you know, there's an article about
  162. 6:59it. You can read it. Uh, I thought just
  163. 7:01thought it was really interesting. And
  164. 7:03along those lines, um, in Manchester,
  165. 7:06New Hampshire, we had congrats by the
  166. 7:09way to Tina, I'm going to butcher your
  167. 7:11name. Sorry. Mulus and Jordanis
  168. 7:16who opened uh who opened up their
  169. 7:18laundromat this last week uh again in
  170. 7:21Manchester, New Hampshire. Uh and uh
  171. 7:25trying to see what the name of it is to
  172. 7:27give them a shout out. Central Suds.
  173. 7:30Yeah. And they've been looking to uh own
  174. 7:32a business. they bought the property and
  175. 7:35were, you know, considering a few
  176. 7:38different uh businesses to put in there
  177. 7:39and they ended up with the laundromat
  178. 7:40because let's face it, what's better
  179. 7:43than a laundromat? Nothing is the answer
  180. 7:45to that. So, congrats to those two for
  181. 7:47doing that. Um, and let's head to
  182. 7:49international because one of the
  183. 7:50questions I get the most often is why do
  184. 7:56I never bring laundromat news from
  185. 7:58Nepal? Well, guess what? Today I am
  186. 8:01doing just that. The first ever laundry
  187. 8:03lounge has opened in Nepal powered by
  188. 8:06LG. You heard it here first or you know
  189. 8:09probably like top three places you've
  190. 8:11heard it at least. Uh but congrats to
  191. 8:13those guys. International news and to
  192. 8:15everybody out there who's just been
  193. 8:17non-stop giving me a hard time about no
  194. 8:19laundry news in Nepal. You can rest easy
  195. 8:22because here it is uh right there for
  196. 8:25you. Congrats to the laundry lounge in
  197. 8:27Nepal powered by LG.
  198. 8:30Um, okay. Listen, we got a couple of
  199. 8:33different businesses I wanted to
  200. 8:34highlight uh right now because there are
  201. 8:39two different businesses. One in uh in
  202. 8:42Topeka. So, listen, if you're in if
  203. 8:44you're in Topeka anywhere around the
  204. 8:47time of December 27th, you've got to go
  205. 8:50over to Louismat bar on 10th Street
  206. 8:53because Sloppy But Lucky is gonna be
  207. 8:55playing. They've got a laundromat and a
  208. 8:59like a show venue happening over there.
  209. 9:01There's some photos and stuff. Very
  210. 9:03cool. Got to go check that out. And
  211. 9:05along a similar vein, um there's a
  212. 9:08another laundromat that's also a concert
  213. 9:11venue in Oh, no. Uh Corvales. Yes, in
  214. 9:16Corvalis. Sorry, I was looking for the
  215. 9:19uh looking for the popup there. Yeah, in
  216. 9:20Corvalis. So, again, just cool ideas of
  217. 9:23people doing cool things with their
  218. 9:24laundromats. We've got coffee bars with
  219. 9:26the Dixie Chicks. We've got a couple of
  220. 9:28concert venues. We've got Well, let's
  221. 9:31see. I think we have another one here.
  222. 9:33Uh oh, no, we don't. There was a There
  223. 9:35was a bar one and I decided not to put
  224. 9:37it in the news, but we've got bars.
  225. 9:39We've got pizza joints. We got all kinds
  226. 9:41of stuff happening with laundromats. Uh
  227. 9:43very very fun. Make sure you're having
  228. 9:45some fun with your laundromat.
  229. 9:47Otherwise, you're not doing it right.
  230. 9:50You're not doing it right. Uh okay. I
  231. 9:52also wanted to shout out Burton's
  232. 9:54Laundry uh because the owners of
  233. 9:56Burton's Laundry donated two washers to
  234. 10:00the Humane Society of St. Joseph County.
  235. 10:03Uh so very cool. That's in uh Mishawaka,
  236. 10:07Indiana uh over there. So very cool.
  237. 10:11Appreciate you guys doing good in the
  238. 10:13community, taking care of the animals,
  239. 10:15especially right now as it's winter
  240. 10:17time. keeping them warm, keeping them
  241. 10:19fuzzy, keeping those sweaters clean, I
  242. 10:22guess. And finally, uh listen, we need
  243. 10:26to wrap it up with uh just, you know,
  244. 10:29some camaraderie here. Uh there's a a De
  245. 10:32Moat
  246. 10:34days before its planned opening, a fire
  247. 10:38broke out and uh has delayed that
  248. 10:41opening. So, wanted to just listen,
  249. 10:44we're community here. We feel the pain
  250. 10:47of other owners. We know what they've
  251. 10:49gone through. They were they've done all
  252. 10:51the hard work of building their
  253. 10:52laundromat uh and are that that
  254. 10:56anticipation, that excitement of finally
  255. 10:58being at the finish line and getting it
  256. 11:00open and uh that was squashed. Uh so
  257. 11:05listen, just a moment of camaraderie out
  258. 11:08there uh for Jake Richardson who has put
  259. 11:11in the work of building this laundry.
  260. 11:13it's going to be delayed. Uh but best of
  261. 11:15luck to you and if there's anything we
  262. 11:17can do to help you as a community, reach
  263. 11:19out um out there. Okay, that is it for
