- 0:00allergic reaction can have many sort of
- 0:02spectrum they can have mild moderate and
- 0:05also severe
- 0:07allergic reaction
- 0:09for mild reaction it is this is very
- 0:11commonly reported reactions
- 0:14the patient usually during or after
- 0:17transition will complain of having
- 0:19uticaria
- 0:20localized hives and swelling around the
- 0:23eyes sometimes also the patient will
- 0:25complain of itchiness
- 0:27and
- 0:28in some cases they will complain of mild
- 0:31respiratory symptoms such as probably
- 0:34mild difficulty
- 0:36of breathing or also wheezing
- 0:40but overall they are usually very stable
- 0:43the blood pressure is normal and the
- 0:46patient does not have fever
- 0:48and if this happen
- 0:50the prevention is we give antihistamine
- 0:53and also steroid to the patient
- 0:56and after that we may restart the
- 0:58transition after the symptoms cleared
- 1:01but we need to monitor the patient very
- 1:03closely
- 1:05okay on the other end of the severe
- 1:08reaction or we call it anaphylactic
- 1:11reaction
- 1:13this is very uncommon reaction
- 1:15and anaphylactic shock usually occur
- 1:18early in transition with skin findings
- 1:21such as
- 1:22uticaria
- 1:24one of a common cause is iga deficient
- 1:27recipient
- 1:29okay in iga deficient recipient they
- 1:31will develop iga antibody
- 1:34so when the blood products contain iga
- 1:38the antibody will attack the iga from
- 1:41the donor and this will cause severe
- 1:44reaction or anaphylactic reaction
- 1:47in between the two we have moderate
- 1:49reaction in which the reaction is not as
- 1:51severe as enough electric reaction but
- 1:54not
- 1:55mild enough to be called moderation
- 1:58so
- 1:59sometimes the patient will have all the
- 2:01skin findings itchiness utilia swelling
- 2:04and also
- 2:05the respiratory symptoms such as tridor
- 2:08and also shortness of breath
