3. 0:03accusations that he ran a massive fraud
4. 0:05some of his latest victims now include
5. 0:07yankees outfielders johnny damon and
6. 0:09xavier nady their accounts frozen
7. 0:11allegedly they invested in a company
8. 0:13that was tied to stanford damon is
9. 0:15quoted as saying he can't pay his bills
10. 0:17right now still no criminal charges have
11. 0:19been filed against stanford but our next
12. 0:21guest says that will change joining us
13. 0:24now from houston is criminal defense
14. 0:25lawyer george parnum he's well known for
15. 0:27defending such people as andrea yates
16. 0:29and clara harris
17. 0:31welcome very very much to you sir
18. 0:33let's talk about
19. 0:35alan stanford and your personal
20. 0:37relationship with him or lack thereof do
21. 0:38you know him have you had any dealings
22. 0:41with him
23. 0:42no i've never met the man and uh never
24. 0:45had any financial or social uh
25. 0:48engagements with him whatsoever all
26. 0:50right well now that that's out of the
27. 0:51way if you were defending him that said
28. 0:53what would be your advice to him at this
29. 0:55point
30. 0:56well i you know it's
31. 0:59so much of this is based on this issue
32. 1:02of imperception
33. 1:05in in the times that we face now
34. 1:08economically
35. 1:09uh
36. 1:10when the country sees
37. 1:14the madoff scandal for instance
38. 1:17or the gm and
39. 1:20corporate executives of the auto
40. 1:22industry flying their private jets to
41. 1:24washington to ask for money
42. 1:27and when we see a man for instance
43. 1:30like stanford who
44. 1:32basically obviously lives the high life
45. 1:34and
46. 1:36is not shy about flaunting
47. 1:38his particular position
48. 1:40that leads to a perception of wrongdoing
49. 1:43the first thing that needs to be changed
50. 1:45here
51. 1:46it seems to me is
52. 1:48that intangible he needs to come
53. 1:51with a much lower profile than than he
54. 1:54is personally being pictured as well
55. 1:56since we have heard so much about
56. 1:58perception of him um
57. 2:00in terms of what you've read about the
58. 2:02fundamentals of the case where do you
59. 2:03see the investigation headed do you see
60. 2:06that there will be criminal charges
61. 2:08i i don't think there's any question but
62. 2:10that there will be some criminal charges
63. 2:12brought
64. 2:13the allegations contained in the
65. 2:16request for a restraining order
66. 2:19which will be heard from an evidentiary
67. 2:21standpoint in dallas on the 2nd of march
68. 2:25at 10 30 at the federal courthouse those
69. 2:27allegations smack of uh of
70. 2:31accusations of illegal wrongdoing which
71. 2:34carry criminal penalties the fbi is
72. 2:36involved in the investigation department
73. 2:38of justice
74. 2:40that's where this is headed okay george
