  1. 0:00uh welcome Alice uh thank you for
  2. 0:03joining spaces and uh I look forward to
  3. 0:06this discussion and um perhaps we could
  4. 0:09start by uh outlining if you could
  5. 0:12outline what uh afd's platform is uh
  6. 0:16what are the the the main things you're
  7. 0:17aiming for where does Germany need
  8. 0:19change and just to educate people who
  9. 0:21have U never heard of uh afd or IFD if
  10. 0:25it be German um and uh a lot of people
  11. 0:29especially in America um never heard of
  12. 0:32afd so perhaps this would be very
  13. 0:35helpful okay thank you very much elen
  14. 0:39for having me and um to give this
  15. 0:41opportunity to to openly speak about um
  16. 0:46um different matters let me uh just can
  17. 0:49you hear
  18. 0:50me I can yes perfect
  19. 0:53perfect um to start with um who we are
  20. 0:58um the afd is
  21. 1:00uh the alternative for Germany it is a
  22. 1:04relatively new party um founded 11 years
  23. 1:09ago uh during the course of um the um
  24. 1:14the Euro um um um
  25. 1:19problems um so um unfortunately I have
  26. 1:23to start uh when I shed some light on
  27. 1:26our party with the Quiet negative
  28. 1:30circumstances um in
  29. 1:33Germany our country is a great country
  30. 1:36with highly motivated
  31. 1:38people but our
  32. 1:40country um has been governed not in a
  33. 1:44proper way within the last 20 25
  34. 1:47years um we had the Angela Merkel
  35. 1:51Administration for 16 years and then the
  36. 1:54so-called traffic light Coalition that
  37. 1:57imploded last year and now we have
  38. 1:59heading
  39. 2:01elections um in my point of view uh
  40. 2:04Angela Merkel the first green
  41. 2:08chancelor um she ruined basically our
  42. 2:11country she enforced without asking the
  43. 2:15people she enforced to open our borders
  44. 2:18for illegal immigration in
  45. 2:222015 she wrecked and destroyed our uh
  46. 2:26Backbone in terms of obnoxious energy
  47. 2:31policy um for um the foreign uh
  48. 2:35listeners here in this audience um
  49. 2:38Germany is the only industrial country
  50. 2:41the only industrial country that um um
  51. 2:46unpluged the nuclear power plant so the
  52. 2:50aim of Angela Merkel um was to um to
  53. 2:57enforce just solar
  54. 3:00and wind
  55. 3:01energy and you don't need to be very
  56. 3:05smart um to encounter that you cannot
  57. 3:09run a industrial country with just wind
  58. 3:13and solar because you don't have any
  59. 3:15energy and
  60. 3:18electricity when the sun doesn't shine
  61. 3:21and when the wind uh doesn't blow and
  62. 3:24this is a major problem sorry I mean I
  63. 3:27obviously I'm a big fan of of solar
  64. 3:29energy but um clearly somebody if a
  65. 3:32country is at a very high latitude then
  66. 3:34the amount of solar um Power in the
  67. 3:36winter is going to be substantially
  68. 3:38reduced yeah um and there of course
  69. 3:39there's a significant difference in the
  70. 3:41day night cycle of energy usage um so a
  71. 3:46lot of it a lot of power can be done
  72. 3:48with solar and with large scale grid
  73. 3:51energy batteries but it must be
  74. 3:54supplemented with other forms of power
  75. 3:57um because um there's not a lot of
  76. 3:59sunshine in the middle of winter in
  77. 4:01Germany um so it the solution obviously
  78. 4:05must be a multifaceted solution uh where
  79. 4:09there is certainly Renewables but also
  80. 4:11um that that there does need to be some
  81. 4:14form some amount of fossil fuel energy
  82. 4:17and and and especially nuclear I think
  83. 4:19nuclear is very much underrated I was I
  84. 4:22think it was a tragic for Dom to shut
  85. 4:24down the nuclear power plants um in fact
  86. 4:26they're they're very welld designed and
  87. 4:28I think that the right move uh is in
  88. 4:30fact to increase the amount of nuclear
  89. 4:33power substantially in Germany this
  90. 4:35would be um this would be great um yes
  91. 4:39absolutely yeah yes absolutely um so
  92. 4:44that was the reason why I wanted to shed
  93. 4:46some light on the current situation so
  94. 4:49in order to form a opinion what our
  95. 4:51party stand for because this is exactly
  96. 4:54what you said um we stand for a energy
  97. 4:58energy Supply diversification we cannot
  98. 5:01run a a industrial country like Germany
  99. 5:06with a strong still strong manufacturing
  100. 5:09uh base um to tell you the truth um our
  101. 5:14manufacturing production um it peaked in
  102. 5:172018 and it plummeted since then due to
  103. 5:20high energy costs and you cannot run a
  104. 5:23country like that so therefore we we say
  105. 5:26look we need to be technology open we
  106. 5:30need to reinforce again nuclear power
  107. 5:33plants because nuclear energy Supply is
  108. 5:37um is carbon free right so therefore we
  109. 5:40would also yeah we would also reduce our
  110. 5:44carbon footprint uh which is uh
  111. 5:46obnoxiously very very high and this is
  112. 5:49the entire irony about it so uh our
  113. 5:53governments like the Angela Merkel
  114. 5:55government and the so-called ridiculous
  115. 5:58traffic light coal ition they enforced a
  116. 6:01green policy upon our country that
  117. 6:04doesn't work and yeah and we would like
  118. 6:08to go back to technology openness
  119. 6:11here yeah I think that makes a lot of
  120. 6:12sense I mean my recommendation and I've
  121. 6:14said this publicly before is that
  122. 6:16Germany should not merely reopen the
  123. 6:18nuclear power plants but substantially
  124. 6:20increase the um the power generation the
  125. 6:24the um you don't with on in the same
  126. 6:27space meaning without increasing the the
  127. 6:29size of the nuclear power plant uh in
  128. 6:31any meaningful way without increasing
  129. 6:32the amount of land area that it uses you
  130. 6:34can dramatically increase the power
  131. 6:36output of the nuclear power station
  132. 6:38because the the actual core part of the
  133. 6:41power station is extremely tiny people
  134. 6:43don't quite realize just how small the
  135. 6:45center core of a nuclear power plant is
  136. 6:48um yes it's like amazingly tiny and so
  137. 6:51you can actually in the same land area
  138. 6:53no increased land area dramatically
  139. 6:55increase the amount of nuclear power
  140. 6:57that that that any given nuclear power
  141. 6:59St is producing um you do need a a water
  142. 7:03source for um for the to run the steam
  143. 7:06turbines but uh really far more power
  144. 7:09output is possible than than people
  145. 7:11realize um and I think the sensible
  146. 7:14solution
  147. 7:15is uh you know Renewables but with with
  148. 7:19a lot of nuclear and then uh you know to
  149. 7:21supplement uh where that there has to be
  150. 7:25some amount of uh hydrocarbon power
  151. 7:28generation to supplement yes where yeah
  152. 7:31just it just needs to be sensible yeah
  153. 7:33absolutely but uh um do you know what so
  154. 7:36just just uh just let me uh do just like
  155. 7:40one more example because um like like um
  156. 7:44like wind turbines wind energy in
  157. 7:47comparison to nuclear power uh Supply is
  158. 7:51highly inefficient also uh in terms of
  159. 7:54land use so for instance I give one
  160. 7:58example just to sh some light on it if
  161. 8:00you were to replace one nuclear power
  162. 8:03plant let's say like one like Mand
  163. 8:06nuclear power plant here in Germany with
  164. 8:08an annual electricity production of 10
  165. 8:12billion kilowatt per hour with Mod than
  166. 8:15wind turbines with a production of just
  167. 8:188 million kilowatt per hour per year you
  168. 8:22would need
  169. 8:241,250 wind turbines just to just to
  170. 8:28replace this one power plant and with a
  171. 8:33rotor diameter of 70 M and the minimum
  172. 8:37distance from large wind farms um you
  173. 8:40end up around with like 100 square
  174. 8:43kilometers for example this corresponds
  175. 8:47to half of the city major city of
  176. 8:49stutgart right so uh so this this entire
  177. 8:54thing and uh just to just to uh uh just
  178. 8:58to stress the fact again you don't need
  179. 9:01to be uh very smart just to do your
  180. 9:05calculations but our but our energy
  181. 9:09ping crazy thing the crazy thing is is
  182. 9:11like like a bunch of these these these
  183. 9:14energy questions um you you do not need
  184. 9:16to be like like a world leading
  185. 9:19physicist it's very basic math like yes
  186. 9:22High SCH less than High School level
  187. 9:24math I'd say middle school math even um
  188. 9:27it's it's very straightforward uh
  189. 9:30not not complicated yes absolutely and
  190. 9:33then during during the uh crisis like
  191. 9:36during the war
  192. 9:38huh sorry no please go ahead yeah so uh
  193. 9:42during the war of Ukraine so um our our
  194. 9:46um our um gas supply was just destroyed
  195. 9:50and that um actually shed some light on
  196. 9:53our in uh son our severe dependence on
  197. 9:56Russian gas and do you know what what's
  198. 9:59a government decided in this uh crisis
  199. 10:02when the energy prices Skyrock after we
  200. 10:05were cut off of uh of of uh of cheap
  201. 10:09energy Supply from Russia they switched
  202. 10:13off the last nuclear power plan to even
  203. 10:16more uh create a um a shortage of energy
  204. 10:21so either you must be very
  205. 10:23stupid or you just hate your own country
  206. 10:30isn't it I I think it's mostly the very
  207. 10:33stupid category um the very St well I
  208. 10:36mean there there's old saying that like
  209. 10:38one should never ascribe to malice that
  210. 10:40which can easily be explained by
  211. 10:42incompetence yes you're perfectly right
  212. 10:45no so um but yes I I I actually when I
  213. 10:49saw that Germany was turning off the
  214. 10:50power plants after being cut off from
  215. 10:52gas supplies you know from Russia I
  216. 10:55thought this is the crazi this is one of
  217. 10:56the craziest things I've ever seen just
  218. 10:58just when Germany most needs electricity
  219. 11:03Germany is shutting down one of the best
  220. 11:05sources of electricity which is nuclear
  221. 11:06power yes and completely carbon
  222. 11:10free yeah crazy crazy it's crazy yeah so
  223. 11:15so I I guess um to summarize the mean
  224. 11:20the the two main things that uh uh afd
  225. 11:24is aiming for uh in terms of change is
  226. 11:27uh a sensible um
  227. 11:30uh energy policy um and uh sensible
  228. 11:33immigration policy yes
  229. 11:37exactly so but actually even more so we
  230. 11:41would like so um if I if if I may
  231. 11:44continue a little bit because now it's a
  232. 11:47it's a el it's a complete new situation
  233. 11:50for me um that um that I just can have a
  234. 11:55normal conversation and I'm not
  235. 11:58interrupted or NE negatively framed um
  236. 12:01how that has been um in the media the
  237. 12:03case in the last 10 years which is
  238. 12:06completely ridiculous so uh um what we
  239. 12:10what we also stand for since we are a
  240. 12:12conservative libertarian party so at
  241. 12:15least we see ourselves like this but we
  242. 12:18are extremely negatively framed as a
  243. 12:21so-called extremist Party by the uh
  244. 12:24mainstream media so we just say look uh
  245. 12:27we need to reduce uh bureaucracy see we
  246. 12:29need to free our our firms our companies
  247. 12:33the individuals of the subious um um bu
  248. 12:37bureaucratic um um conditions here do
  249. 12:40you know like how long it takes how many
  250. 12:43days it takes to get a business permit
  251. 12:45in Germany just guess well as as as as
  252. 12:48it turns out I do because we oh yeah the
  253. 12:51big plan so how many days it take Car
  254. 12:54Factory uh you know just um near Berlin
  255. 12:58uh so we had uh many many challenges I
  256. 13:02mean this is to be clear like we
  257. 13:04actually had a lot of support a lot of
  258. 13:06local support a lot of local support
  259. 13:08from from the the local government from
  260. 13:10the national government and and despite
  261. 13:12all that support just the sheer number
  262. 13:14of rules that bu you know the people in
  263. 13:17in the government are required to follow
  264. 13:19um is completely crazy um and we we had
  265. 13:23to I think it was 25,000 Pages was our
  266. 13:27permit um and it had to be it had to be
  267. 13:30all printed on pap
  268. 13:325,000
  269. 13:34yes I think this is crazy in the end
  270. 13:3725,000 and then there has to be many
  271. 13:39many copies made so it literally was a
  272. 13:41truck of paper
  273. 13:44um we like surely we can make this
  274. 13:46electronic you know should isn't that
  275. 13:49better no not possible you need to have
  276. 13:51that on paper in Germany and no it has
  277. 13:53to be paper I'm like this is crazy um
  278. 13:56this is only a few years ago it's not
  279. 13:57the distant pth I mean it's like we're
  280. 13:59you know we're well into the we're we're
  281. 14:02we're you know quarter of the way
  282. 14:03through the 21st century it's like guys
  283. 14:05let's just 45,000 actual printed pages
  284. 14:09and then I believe every page needed to
  285. 14:12be stamped with a physical stamp um I
  286. 14:15mean it's gonna really Tire somebody out
  287. 14:17to do so much yeah um you know they're
  288. 14:20gonna get some many many people tired
  289. 14:24arms yeah they're G to get a repetitive
  290. 14:26stress injury from having to stamp
  291. 14:30stress
  292. 14:33injuries just end up to the hospital or
  293. 14:35something I mean that's that's yeah um
  294. 14:38so uh track of
  295. 14:41paper I'm not trying to blame the the
  296. 14:43sort of individuals who are doing this
  297. 14:44time because they are just following the
  298. 14:46rules so we have to change the rules and
  299. 14:49and there needs to be um I think in my
  300. 14:51view for for you know old countries but
  301. 14:54especially countries that have endured
  302. 14:55prosperity for a long time it is
  303. 14:57extremely important to have have what I
  304. 14:59call sort of garbage collection of rules
  305. 15:02which is to reexamine the the rules and
  306. 15:04regulations U and and make sure that
  307. 15:07that they are clearly a net good and and
  308. 15:09if there's any doubt about them being a
  309. 15:11net good we should eliminate them
  310. 15:12because otherwise we get to this point
  311. 15:14where everything is illegal and uh so
  312. 15:17it's just absolutely
  313. 15:20crazy absolutely absolutely and it's not
  314. 15:24only about bureaucracy it's also about
  315. 15:27taxes Germany has a highest taxes uh of
  316. 15:31all oecd countries so um so the normal
  317. 15:36German employee he works half of more
  318. 15:40than half of a year for the state you
  319. 15:41have to imagine that like like uh with
  320. 15:45taxes plus Social
  321. 15:47Security um so more than half of the
  322. 15:50year you work for this um dysfunctioning
  323. 15:54State because like the state uh does not
  324. 15:58provide the vital um the vital
  325. 16:01Provisions for the people here so um he
  326. 16:05doesn't provide for security so we have
  327. 16:07like like skyrocketing criminal rights
  328. 16:11here um um he doesn't care about
  329. 16:15education so we have this same um insane
  330. 16:19Vish leftish socialist agenda uh in our
  331. 16:23educational system so the young people
  332. 16:26they don't learn anything in school um
  333. 16:30in
  334. 16:31University um um Etc so they just learn
  335. 16:35about gender studies and they just
  336. 16:39yeah and uh no really like like I was
  337. 16:43under the I was under the impression
  338. 16:44that Germany had a had a pretty good
  339. 16:46education system that yes that was quite
  340. 16:49rigorous with you know the gymnasium and
  341. 16:50all that sort of stuff at least it used
  342. 16:52to at one point um yes so um but it
  343. 16:57sounds like this has uh I don't know the
  344. 17:00work mine virus has infected Germany
  345. 17:01quite badly yeah yeah um so you have the
  346. 17:07the international standard of Pisa
  347. 17:09testing right so the Pisa survey so uh
  348. 17:12Germany like a couple of years ago was
  349. 17:15okay scored okay scored but now so we so
  350. 17:21we just plummeted because because uh the
  351. 17:24survey showed that young people are not
  352. 17:26able uh to properly do Mar
  353. 17:29or speak or write German and in some
  354. 17:33like in some states here in Germany you
  355. 17:35have to imagine they just abolished the
  356. 17:38writing grades uh in terms uh to get um
  357. 17:43um the uh language grade right so you
  358. 17:46don't need to write German properly
  359. 17:49anymore because our entire educational
  360. 17:52system has been deteriorating and that
  361. 17:54is also um the the reason for instance
  362. 17:58why Young people they votee for uh for
  363. 18:02us now because they want to have a
  364. 18:05proper education and they want to have
  365. 18:07back a proper educ educational system
  366. 18:11that um um that um that um provides the
  367. 18:16young people with uh with capabilities
  368. 18:20and that is also the reason why I uh so
  369. 18:23my personal opinion is that we have to
  370. 18:26go back to a merit based system
  371. 18:29right so we need to go back to a merit
  372. 18:31based incentive system H and go away
  373. 18:34from all this socialist gender things um
  374. 18:38um being in our educational system the
  375. 18:41families and the parents they have the
  376. 18:45responsibility of their children and the
  377. 18:48schools and the university they have the
  378. 18:50responsibility uh to give good education
  379. 18:53and that uh and not all this Vogue
  380. 18:55socialist nonsensical gender stuff
  381. 18:59sure uh no absolutely um I mean the
  382. 19:02whole point of going to school is to
  383. 19:04learn uh useful skills that help you in
  384. 19:07life um help you be productive and
  385. 19:09understand the world yes and uh
  386. 19:13otherwise it's not a school it's it's a
  387. 19:15it's just a propaganda
  388. 19:17institution true yeah so um okay well I
  389. 19:21mean that makes makes a lot of sense um
  390. 19:25so see yeah so maybe maybe I can just um
  391. 19:30go on because I I was um I I was just
  392. 19:33giving an example of the educational
  393. 19:35system uh where where the state fails
  394. 19:39because because because our state the
  395. 19:42government collected in the last year um
  396. 19:45a record high of income tax so um they
  397. 19:49col they collected like around like
  398. 19:52above one um one trillion right um of
  399. 19:57euros so it is a record high tax but the
  400. 20:01state they cannot they cannot handle
  401. 20:05taxpayers money so what do they do so
  402. 20:08they just uh um um throw throw the money
  403. 20:11out of the window for uh for uh for
  404. 20:15immigration in our social system for
  405. 20:17instance so since 2015 just to give you
  406. 20:20some numbers and also the audience to
  407. 20:23have to have an idea what's going on
  408. 20:25here in Germany so we had an influx um
  409. 20:29um of um of almost 7 million people 7
  410. 20:33million people but these are the
  411. 20:36officially counted so um 7 million
  412. 20:39people wow okay 7 million people of
  413. 20:41influx since 2015 officially counted and
  414. 20:46then uh because the people they
  415. 20:49just just another funny numbers our
  416. 20:52state allows people to throw away their
  417. 20:55passports before they cross our border
  418. 20:59that are not protected and controlled so
  419. 21:0257% almost 60% of the people coming into
  420. 21:05our country on through a open border
  421. 21:08they throw away their papers why do they
  422. 21:11do that because once entered our country
  423. 21:15our funny country with this funny
  424. 21:17immigration policy they cannot be
  425. 21:19deported anymore so that's a reason why
  426. 21:22so our state our government like um the
  427. 21:27Angela Merkel government and the last
  428. 21:29one they proclaimed a policy that
  429. 21:33everyone can choose to cross our border
  430. 21:36to immigrate into our social security
  431. 21:39system and cannot be deported afterwards
  432. 21:43because they threw away their passports
  433. 21:46I mean like how how insane is that well
  434. 21:50it is very insane but that's exactly
  435. 21:52what's happened in the US yeah exactly I
  436. 21:54mean clearly there there's you know
  437. 21:56there's a sort of uh I don't know uh
  438. 21:58sort of a far-left agenda that's being
  439. 22:00pushed uh throughout uh Western
  440. 22:03Civilization any any place they can go
  441. 22:05because the exact the exact same thing
  442. 22:07was done in the US where uh and now they
  443. 22:10they sort of calling people illegal
  444. 22:11immigrants they call them undocumented
  445. 22:13and the reason undocumented is because
  446. 22:15they threw away their passport just like
  447. 22:17you're talking about in fact if on on
  448. 22:20the Mexican side of the Border in the US
  449. 22:21there's a giant pile of of discarded uh
  450. 22:25passports and driver's licenses like a
  451. 22:28huge file
  452. 22:29unable because it's actually worse to
  453. 22:32come in with a passport than to come in
  454. 22:34with
  455. 22:34nothing um and then uh just like in
  456. 22:37Germany the the the democratic
  457. 22:39government uh then gives um massive
  458. 22:42amounts of uh money uh and support to
  459. 22:46what they call undocumented but but then
  460. 22:48but if they're undocumented we actually
  461. 22:49have no idea if they are a murderer
  462. 22:52rapist we have no idea because they they
  463. 22:54have no documents so we can't actually
  464. 22:56tell and so as a result uh there have
  465. 22:59been there's been a massive influx of of
  466. 23:01criminals into the US uh because and
  467. 23:04frankly I I mean I'm wondering what's
  468. 23:07taking criminals so long to come here I
  469. 23:09mean this is a t i mean America is a
  470. 23:11target-rich environment it's it's it's
  471. 23:13you
  472. 23:14know the you could in America it's so
  473. 23:17easy to steal things uh in these wealthy
  474. 23:19neighborhoods it's like the only thing
  475. 23:21that is is going to slow down how much
  476. 23:23you can steal is is is if your back hurs
  477. 23:25from carrying out all the goods you know
  478. 23:27it's like because you're just like a
  479. 23:29it's you're not a rubber you're just a
  480. 23:31moving company um so uh you know like it
  481. 23:36seems like all the world's criminals
  482. 23:37just come to America on that basis um
  483. 23:40because it's a such an it's much easier
  484. 23:43to be a career criminal in America than
  485. 23:44it is in in other countries where
  486. 23:46there's not that much to steal yeah um
  487. 23:49so um you a massive increase in crime in
  488. 23:52in the US yeah may I uh may I ask a
  489. 23:56question on that so read I read that for
  490. 24:00instance in California um by the way I'm
  491. 24:03very sorry what's happening there it's
  492. 24:05terrible it's really terrible to see um
  493. 24:08and um yeah it's terrible but um in the
  494. 24:11case of California that U they just
  495. 24:15lifted um um uh the the the prosecution
  496. 24:21of Seft because you have so many cases
  497. 24:24of theft is it
  498. 24:26true um yes the the de facto situation
  499. 24:30um in California is that uh theft is
  500. 24:33almost never prosecuted it's maybe one
  501. 24:36or two maybe 1% of the time uh is is
  502. 24:39theft prosecuted um and uh and even when
  503. 24:43it is prosecuted the the the criminals
  504. 24:45are let out on bail immediately so
  505. 24:47basically theft is legal in
  506. 24:49California I'm be it's it's it's crazy
  507. 24:53um it's crazy yeah um now there was
  508. 24:57recently a referendum uh in California
  509. 24:59to uh to make to make crime to make
  510. 25:03stealing illegal again which was and
  511. 25:06actually that was very popular and it
  512. 25:08passed uh uh so um because it it was
  513. 25:12actually literally legal to steal
  514. 25:14anything under $1,000 which means people
  515. 25:16could just walk into a store yeah at
  516. 25:18$1,000 at a time and take out anything
  517. 25:20they want and if this if the storekeeper
  518. 25:23stopped them the storekeeper would be
  519. 25:25arrested um so this is literally like
  520. 25:28the The Joker and Batman it's like the
  521. 25:30the criminals you know um are in charge
  522. 25:33and the the honest citizens are arrested
  523. 25:35it's just completely insane now like you
  524. 25:37said the the the people in California
  525. 25:40did vote overwhelmingly to make theft
  526. 25:42illegal again yeah um but but but um
  527. 25:46astonishingly the governor of California
  528. 25:49uh Governor um Nome he was against the
  529. 25:53making theft illegal
  530. 25:56um implement
  531. 25:59yeah well well but what what they're
  532. 26:01going to do is even though it is
  533. 26:02technically illegal again um they the
  534. 26:06the sort of farli will refuse to enforce
  535. 26:09it unbelievable because because you
  536. 26:11really need two things uh for something
  537. 26:14to work for for laws to work you need
  538. 26:16you need both the law and you need
  539. 26:18enforcement of the law and if you don't
  540. 26:20have if you have if you so I mean this
  541. 26:23is something that George sorus really
  542. 26:24figured out I mean he's he's sort of
  543. 26:26yeah bril brilliant guy but honestly
  544. 26:27very
  545. 26:29you know anti-human in my opinion uh is
  546. 26:31that you don't actually need to change
  547. 26:33the law you just need to stop
  548. 26:34enforcement of the law um and and and
  549. 26:37that that does that does the
  550. 26:39trick um so I but I think there's there
  551. 26:43is somewhat of a Reawakening in the US
  552. 26:46and I think even in California people
  553. 26:47are are tired of tired of this and they
  554. 26:49won't change and I think that's that's
  555. 26:52really if you say like what people are
  556. 26:54wondering like why did uh why why did
  557. 26:57Donald Trump win um and it's and and
  558. 26:59wasn't just a small victory um in the US
  559. 27:02elections this year uh you know
  560. 27:04president Trump won uh the Electoral
  561. 27:07College he also won the popular vote
  562. 27:08majority of the of the people um and the
  563. 27:12the the house is Republican and the
  564. 27:14senat Republican what this says is the
  565. 27:17American people uh are demanding change
  566. 27:20that be very clear um and my
  567. 27:23recommendation to for the people in
  568. 27:25Germany is to do the same um if if if
  569. 27:28you are unhappy with the situation you
  570. 27:30must vote for change um and that is why
  571. 27:33I'm really strongly recommending that
  572. 27:35people vote for afd U that's my that's
  573. 27:38my strong recommendation and and I think
  574. 27:41uh this is simply the sensible move U
  575. 27:45and um I think Alice be's a very very
  576. 27:47reasonable person and hopefully people
  577. 27:49can tell just from this conversation
  578. 27:52like nothing outrageous is being
  579. 27:54proposed uh just common sense um so uh
  580. 27:59in fact I I I as I've said publicly I
  581. 28:02think only afd can save Germany and I
  582. 28:05just want to be very clear about that
  583. 28:07only afd can save Germany end of story
  584. 28:11and people really need to get behind afd
  585. 28:13and otherwise things are going to get
  586. 28:15very very much worse in Germany yes
  587. 28:18because because be because you rightly
  588. 28:21said um there is a difference of making
  589. 28:24a law and then enforcing it so now we
  590. 28:26have the situation in Germany where you
  591. 28:29have on the one hand you have the afd
  592. 28:31and on the other hand what's so-called
  593. 28:34uni party right the uni party consisting
  594. 28:38of all the others because because they
  595. 28:41stick together and um no matter what
  596. 28:45they say they're not able to implement
  597. 28:49to enforce the promises they're doing in
  598. 28:52every election especially the Angela
  599. 28:54Merkel party do you know that the uh
  600. 28:56that the chancellor CED so so my so my
  601. 29:00running mate of the Chris Democratic
  602. 29:02party that it's um wrongly labeled for
  603. 29:06instance by The Economist as a center
  604. 29:08right party so in my opinion it's a
  605. 29:10leftish green party but anyway Angela
  606. 29:13mer was the first green Chancellor we
  607. 29:15had here so um what he did is um that he
  608. 29:20by the way um just um talking about
  609. 29:24interference um so I just look it up
  610. 29:27here um
  611. 29:28he called your interest so your
  612. 29:31interests in German politics pushy and
  613. 29:34presumptuous
  614. 29:36and about George Soros yeah yeah exactly
  615. 29:39and Bill Gates so that was not a problem
  616. 29:44when Bill Gates uh um actually tried to
  617. 29:46sell his Mna vaccination and not
  618. 29:51mentioning all the huge um side effects
  619. 29:55on people's health and no one takes
  620. 29:58responsibility about that and the entire
  621. 30:01Bluff and scam of wearing a mask right
  622. 30:06so yes it's unbelievable and um also
  623. 30:09that candidate of the Chris Democrats
  624. 30:12like fredrich Mez he warned the world
  625. 30:15about the consequences of voting for
  626. 30:18Donald Trump in October last year so uh
  627. 30:22so so far for like foreign interferences
  628. 30:26right so it's unbelievable it's really
  629. 30:28unbelievable like how Donald Trump was
  630. 30:31treated by German media and German
  631. 30:35politicians during um his election
  632. 30:38campaign was unbelievable and I
  633. 30:40mentioned that before in a Bloomberg
  634. 30:42interview it created for me it created
  635. 30:46physical pain to see that how he was
  636. 30:48disparaged like and his entire family so
  637. 30:53um yeah so I feel very sorry for these
  638. 30:56people um
  639. 30:58um just like uh yeah um um saying
  640. 31:02negative things and um now yeah while we
  641. 31:07while we talk 150 bureaucrats of the
  642. 31:10European Union are watching us our
  643. 31:13conversation um to enforce this
  644. 31:16ridiculous Digital Services act that is
  645. 31:20uh nothing uh nothing else than a
  646. 31:24censorship on Free Speech but free
  647. 31:27speech right it's a yes and you said it
  648. 31:30free speech is a precondition of
  649. 31:32democracy if you are not able to form a
  650. 31:36proper opinion and exchange opinions and
  651. 31:39ideas and uh a democracy should be a
  652. 31:42competition of the best ideas right and
  653. 31:45compromises absolutely yeah but yes
  654. 31:47exactly without freedom of speech people
  655. 31:51are are are obviously not able to say
  656. 31:52what they want to say and and then um
  657. 31:55they cannot make an informed vote so if
  658. 31:58if if people are are simply fed
  659. 32:00propaganda and have no access to what's
  660. 32:03really going on then uh they can't make
  661. 32:06an informed vote uh and then they you
  662. 32:08don't have a real democracy so that's
  663. 32:11why I say you know free speech is the
  664. 32:13bedr of democracy uh there must be free
  665. 32:16speech in order for people to make an
  666. 32:17informed vote so that's essential um and
  667. 32:22and and you can sort of it's actually
  668. 32:24quite easy to tell who the bad guys are
  669. 32:26it's like who wants to shut down free
  670. 32:27freedom of speech they are the bad guys
  671. 32:29it's very clear yes and you know what
  672. 32:34what uh what um what Adolf Hitler did
  673. 32:38the first thing he switched off uh U um
  674. 32:42free speech so he controls the media and
  675. 32:46uh and without that he would have never
  676. 32:50been
  677. 32:52successful
  678. 32:54successful this is what you do
  679. 32:55absolutely yeah no exactly it's um that
  680. 32:59that was uh one of one of the first
  681. 33:01things he did was was to control the
  682. 33:03media and um and uh imposed extreme
  683. 33:08censorship um and uh and really what he
  684. 33:11was trying to do was shut down any PRS
  685. 33:14Semitic uh media uh anything premi or
  686. 33:17any defense of the Jewish people was
  687. 33:20shut down that's that so that's that's a
  688. 33:23so we have like you know very you know
  689. 33:26for those who who want censorship they
  690. 33:28should I think they should be careful
  691. 33:30what they what they ask for because uh
  692. 33:33when if once you Institute censorship
  693. 33:35it's only a matter of time before that
  694. 33:36censorship is turned on you and
  695. 33:39eventually they will censor you and
  696. 33:41that's the that's the danger um because
  697. 33:43people love to censor uh things they
  698. 33:46don't agree with but they don't realize
  699. 33:48that one day that censorship is going to
  700. 33:50be turned on them absolutely so yeah um
  701. 33:54so I mean I mean you mentioned of course
  702. 33:56uh uh you know Hitler and whatnot uh now
  703. 34:00there's a lot of the media uh wants to
  704. 34:03portray afd as far right as somehow
  705. 34:06associated with Nazism or something like
  706. 34:08that perhaps you could address uh that
  707. 34:12that concern because you know people
  708. 34:13when they have sort of rightwing in
  709. 34:15Germany they you know naturally have a
  710. 34:18bit of a negative
  711. 34:22reaction um yes thank you uh thank you
  712. 34:25for the question uh first of all
  713. 34:28um I would like to um since I'm a um
  714. 34:32Economist um um I would like to um shed
  715. 34:36some light on the idea uh when we talk
  716. 34:39about Hitler uh on the idea of the
  717. 34:42national
  718. 34:44socialists uh back then during the third
  719. 34:46R uh the National Socialist um as a word
  720. 34:51says there were socialists out of are
  721. 34:54consider yeah naal Industries like czy
  722. 34:58yes absolutely he was a communist and he
  723. 35:01considered himself as a socialist so
  724. 35:05what they did they um they um they um um
  725. 35:11um yeah they um state founded then the
  726. 35:14um the um private companies and then
  727. 35:17they asked for um for uh taxes huge
  728. 35:21taxes and then also wait a second I need
  729. 35:24to ask the word now for
  730. 35:28National yeah nationalize the entire
  731. 35:31industry yeah you said that before and
  732. 35:34um and and the biggest success the
  733. 35:38biggest success after that terrible era
  734. 35:42in our history was to label Adolf Hitler
  735. 35:47as right and conservative he was exactly
  736. 35:51the opposite he wasn't a conservative he
  737. 35:54wasn't a Libertarian he was a communist
  738. 35:59socialist guy so full stop no more
  739. 36:03comment on that and we are exactly the
  740. 36:06opposite we are libertarian conservative
  741. 36:09party and see look at this uh during uh
  742. 36:13like now like during the discussion of
  743. 36:15this terrible Hamas attack uh on Israel
  744. 36:19so only the leftish
  745. 36:22Palestinians they criticize uh um um the
  746. 36:26policies here so you have a deeply
  747. 36:31vested
  748. 36:33anti-Semitism within the leftish
  749. 36:35movement and it was always that case why
  750. 36:39and Adolf Hitler he also played with
  751. 36:41that he played with the Envy of people
  752. 36:45Jewish people have been highly
  753. 36:48educated very cultivated and there were
  754. 36:51successful there were worthy people back
  755. 36:53in Germany then and then he enforced the
  756. 36:57Envy of the population against these
  757. 37:01people and it was a socialist measure
  758. 37:05taken against them look at Stalin look
  759. 37:08at the Soviet Union under Stalin the
  760. 37:10very same thing so he was nothing else
  761. 37:13than anti-semitic uh socialist and we
  762. 37:16are exactly the opposite we are a
  763. 37:19Libertarian conservative party we are
  764. 37:21wrongly framed the entire time and we
  765. 37:24would like to free the people of the
  766. 37:27State I want to have independently
  767. 37:30thinking people self-confident people I
  768. 37:33would like to have a state that is
  769. 37:36minimized minimized uh to his functions
  770. 37:40um and letting the people having their
  771. 37:43freedom of speech um freedom of wealth
  772. 37:47also like generating wealth uh with
  773. 37:49these obnoxiously high taxes the PE uh
  774. 37:53the state roads the backbone uh of
  775. 37:57wealth right so the people are not able
  776. 37:59to accumulate wealth that make them
  777. 38:02independent from the state so I would
  778. 38:05like to have independently thinking um
  779. 38:09well educated people who have the
  780. 38:11freedom to form their own opinion I want
  781. 38:14to have strong leaders in Germany I
  782. 38:17don't want to have stupid weak leaders
  783. 38:19as we had uh in the last couple of years
  784. 38:23because these people cannot uh think
  785. 38:25straightly and there are a big dat
  786. 38:28look at the war in Ukraine now there a
  787. 38:30big danger of to our national security
  788. 38:33and to uh actually to the entire
  789. 38:36European security this is also my hope
  790. 38:40um in Donald Trump and in you in your
  791. 38:44Administration um that you end that
  792. 38:47terrible War this worthless worthless
  793. 38:50dying of young people every day like as
  794. 38:53fast as you can because the Europeans
  795. 38:55they cannot they actually given up on
  796. 38:58everything like on a good military on a
  797. 39:01good negoti negotiation power they're
  798. 39:04completely depend um on the US um in the
  799. 39:08sense of oh um the USA need to do the
  800. 39:12entire job we don't need to do anything
  801. 39:15uh we just escalate the entire conflict
  802. 39:19um um against Russia it's very dangerous
  803. 39:23what's going on here and only um um you
  804. 39:26can you can you can basically stop
  805. 39:29it yeah I I mean I think U president
  806. 39:32Trump is is going to you know is going
  807. 39:35to solve that that conflict I think very
  808. 39:36quickly um as you point out U it's now
  809. 39:40been in somewhat of a a stalemate for a
  810. 39:42few years and all that's happened over
  811. 39:44the past few years is hundreds of
  812. 39:45thousands of people dying um but but for
  813. 39:48for no gains yeah um and the longer this
  814. 39:51conflict goes on um the more uh Ukraine
  815. 39:55weakens relative to Russia I mean
  816. 39:56Ukraine is smaller country it simply
  817. 39:58cannot afford the losses relative to
  818. 40:00Russia Russia has uh it's just you know
  819. 40:05it's this this is the longer this drags
  820. 40:07on the worse it is uh for for Ukraine um
  821. 40:10and then you've got all these poor you
  822. 40:12know men dying and in for nothing why um
  823. 40:19so um I hope this can be this this
  824. 40:22terrible conflict can be resolved uh
  825. 40:24quickly and I think it will be under
  826. 40:25President Trump yeah well be great
  827. 40:28actually because this is our now really
  828. 40:30like um the people here like like many
  829. 40:34people are
  830. 40:35anxious and they're anxious for a very
  831. 40:39good reason I think because this
  832. 40:41conflict uh conflict has a potential to
  833. 40:44escalate big time um towards a nuclear
  834. 40:48exchange and here the European
  835. 40:51governments they have no measure they
  836. 40:53have no strategy they have no red line
  837. 40:55no story line uh of their foreign and
  838. 40:58security policy towards Russia towards
  839. 41:02Ukraine um they have no strategy to end
  840. 41:05that and they don't have the military
  841. 41:07power right so they under spand the
  842. 41:10budget to
  843. 41:11Nato for actually for decades like for
  844. 41:16for a very long time like the average
  845. 41:18for instance of Germany because um the
  846. 41:21share of GDP is supposed to be 2% so
  847. 41:25Germany on average I think just like uh
  848. 41:28slightly above 1% so Germany didn't
  849. 41:31contribute but Germany is also not
  850. 41:35prudent um of the defendants of our own
  851. 41:39country so this is the second thing so
  852. 41:43uh we are we are we are completely
  853. 41:45dependent on the US but I think uh and
  854. 41:48I've listened to this very interesting
  855. 41:50uh speech of JD Vance um he said um he
  856. 41:55doesn't want to he doesn't want to have
  857. 41:57client states right yeah so he wants to
  858. 42:01have independent
  859. 42:04states who who all that also form their
  860. 42:09own independent opinion on things right
  861. 42:12so you you you for instance in your
  862. 42:15companies you don't want to be
  863. 42:17surrounded by yes people and by mediocre
  864. 42:20people right so me neither so I try to
  865. 42:24acquire absolutely yeah so I try to uh
  866. 42:27also I try to to to um to have uh the
  867. 42:31best people in my team uh and these best
  868. 42:34people they have the task to criticize
  869. 42:36me every day and I don't want to have
  870. 42:39yes Sayers right because you cannot
  871. 42:42learn so you have no mistake correction
  872. 42:46Sor I just say yes
  873. 42:48yes yes yes yes yes people no but but
  874. 42:54it's so but it's so important to yes no
  875. 42:57yeah
  876. 42:59yes um so yeah no absolutely I mean for
  877. 43:03say my companies like SpaceX and Tesla
  878. 43:05if you know if
  879. 43:07um if if we we we are constantly looking
  880. 43:09for critical feedback because if we make
  881. 43:11a mistake uh then the Rockets blow up
  882. 43:13and the cars don't work yeah so uh you
  883. 43:16know physics is is very unforgiving um
  884. 43:18you know there's you know I say like
  885. 43:20really physics is the law um and and and
  886. 43:23everything else is a recommendation
  887. 43:24because I've seen people break every
  888. 43:27kind of law but I haven't seen them
  889. 43:28break physics um and so if you don't get
  890. 43:31the design of the rocket and operation
  891. 43:33of the rocket exactly right and if even
  892. 43:35one thing is wrong the rocket explodes
  893. 43:38yeah so um you know that's I'm strong
  894. 43:40believer in seeking critical feedback
  895. 43:42and in fact I think critical feedback
  896. 43:43should be viewed as a
  897. 43:46gift
  898. 43:48yes
  899. 43:50absolutely yes um so no no no no but uh
  900. 43:54but uh um just uh just um um just to uh
  901. 43:58continue on that topic so um if you
  902. 44:02don't have that feedback loop so um your
  903. 44:06your rocket May explode right but here
  904. 44:09in this critical phase of this terrible
  905. 44:11war in uh in the um
  906. 44:14Ukraine uh many people may die due to
  907. 44:19the stupid policies that have been many
  908. 44:21people have died yeah indeed yeah um so
  909. 44:25well I mean let touch on some some uh
  910. 44:28maybe potential what people may view as
  911. 44:31hot mton uh issues like what are what
  912. 44:33are your views on
  913. 44:35Israel oh very complicated the more no
  914. 44:39no really
  915. 44:41like the more the more I read about the
  916. 44:45Middle East and the situation in Israel
  917. 44:47the more complicated it gets and to be
  918. 44:51honest I wanted to ask you um about a
  919. 44:54potential solution because to be honest
  920. 44:57like in my humble opinion I don't see a
  921. 45:01a a solution so maybe maybe uh um Israel
  922. 45:07um have to find some um um alliances
  923. 45:11with the Sunni States maybe if possible
  924. 45:15um and um yeah to be honest from my
  925. 45:19point of view like from my perspective
  926. 45:21it's a very complicated situation and I
  927. 45:25don't you know
  928. 45:27I'm not this person I'm not the
  929. 45:29politician um if you ask a question that
  930. 45:32I do this blah blah blah I really say
  931. 45:35what I think to to do honest uh U
  932. 45:39politics and to be honest I don't know
  933. 45:44um very like to be very Frank I don't
  934. 45:47know how to solve the conflict at this
  935. 45:50point in time and I hope maybe you have
  936. 45:52an answer on
  937. 45:54that sorry for for for being
  938. 45:57dissatisfactory but it's so complicated
  939. 46:00and um um I want to give pent answer and
  940. 46:03in case of Israel I don't know how to
  941. 46:06resolve this conflict to be
  942. 46:08honest uh well well I guess maybe
  943. 46:11another way to say it is uh do you unly
  944. 46:13support the existence of the state of
  945. 46:14Israel yes of course okay that's what
  946. 46:18people want to know yeah
  947. 46:21so asking questions that maybe seem very
  948. 46:24obvious but oh no no oh yeah
  949. 46:28oh yes now now I now I see was this
  950. 46:31question no absolutely yeah so uh so we
  951. 46:34need to protect the existence of Israel
  952. 46:38and we need to protect not only the
  953. 46:40existence of the state of
  954. 46:42Israel um I also think that Benjamin
  955. 46:45netan have made many mistakes in the
  956. 46:47past to be honest um but we also need um
  957. 46:52to take our responsibility as a German
  958. 46:54nation state to protect Jewish life
  959. 46:58Jewish people in our country who are
  960. 47:01exposed right now to uh to um to um um
  961. 47:07mus Muslim crime right so they are not
  962. 47:11safe here anymore so um you I don't know
  963. 47:16if you if you uh saw uh some videos
  964. 47:20here off the streets of Berlin I'm right
  965. 47:23now in my office in Berlin but uh like
  966. 47:26with all these demonstrations of the
  967. 47:29Palestinians here well um a Jew could
  968. 47:34not walk uh U um through the street
  969. 47:37anymore right and we have have a a huge
  970. 47:41potential of uh anti-semitic crime
  971. 47:45against uh uh the Jewish people and to
  972. 47:48be very Frank to be very Frank here the
  973. 47:53afd is the only protector and I'm saying
  974. 47:57that like very frankly the alternativa
  975. 48:01for dut land the afd is the only can
  976. 48:04only be the only protector of the Jewish
  977. 48:08people within here in Germany because
  978. 48:10the uni party all others
  979. 48:12parties they did exactly the opposite
  980. 48:15they let like millions of people in they
  981. 48:18let um um do let them do crimes on our
  982. 48:22streets like the crime rate are
  983. 48:25skyrocketing and so the Jewish people
  984. 48:28they leave our country when I when I
  985. 48:31talk to my Jewish friends who live in
  986. 48:34Germany and in Switzerland and in France
  987. 48:36and in Austria they were very afraid um
  988. 48:40um um after the Hamas attack on the 7th
  989. 48:44of October because uh they were they
  990. 48:47were they were um afraid that they um
  991. 48:50would likely to be attacked by um by
  992. 48:54Palestinians by Hamas supporters or by
  993. 48:57the antifa or by the leftish terrorists
  994. 49:00I don't know but they were very afraid
  995. 49:03very sensitive going on the streets and
  996. 49:06uh we we step up for this people even
  997. 49:10though the opposite in the mainstream
  998. 49:13media the opposite is
  999. 49:16claimed but this is this is this is not
  1000. 49:19true it's just a is just a lie about our
  1001. 49:24party yes I think that's that's what I
1002. 49:26wanted to just make it clear that uh
1003. 49:29that that afd is being massively
1004. 49:31misrepresented especially in the in the
1005. 49:33western media um so um yeah and you know
  1006. 49:38and uh no I say I I very much support
  1007. 49:41the state of Israel but I I mean I also
1008. 49:42believe that that we want to uh be uh
1009. 49:46Mindful and and have empathy for you
1010. 49:49know civilians uh who who are who are
1011. 49:51dying as well uh the you know when I've
1012. 49:54had conversations with prime minister
1013. 49:56and yaho and um and I think I think
  1014. 49:59we're largely agreed I mean there's so
  1015. 50:01there there's really there's three steps
  1016. 50:03which is like you there's there's no
1017. 50:06choice but to um eliminate those who
1018. 50:09wish to eliminate the state of Israel um
1019. 50:13you know Moss essentially um but then uh
1020. 50:16and then the second step is to to fix
1021. 50:18the education so that uh you know people
1022. 50:21Palestinians are not trained from when
1023. 50:23they are children to to hate and want
1024. 50:27the death of Israel so you've got to fix
1025. 50:29the education system and and then the
1026. 50:31third thing which is also very important
1027. 50:33is to to make uh the pal Palestinian
  1028. 50:36areas
1029. 50:37prosperous uh this is this third step is
1030. 50:40very important um and and this this this
1031. 50:42is maybe the hardest step uh which is uh
1032. 50:47but but you have to have that third step
1033. 50:48you have to uh bring Prosperity uh you
1034. 50:51have to help rebuild and you have to
  1035. 50:52bring prosperity and I've had this
1036. 50:55conversation with with many people um in
1037. 50:57Israel I said that third step is is
1038. 51:00essential um true and and and they've
1039. 51:03asked me well when is this worked and
1040. 51:05I'm like well I'll give you a very big
1041. 51:06example um you know after World War I
1042. 51:10the the Treaty of asai was extremely
1043. 51:12unfair to Germany um and it it it
  1044. 51:14created a massive amount of resentment
1045. 51:16and the the treat asai laid the
1046. 51:19foundation with its extreme reparations
1047. 51:22um for play the foundation called World
1048. 51:25War II um was without the Treaty of
1049. 51:27Versa Hitler would not have succeeded
1050. 51:29yes true and yes and and so and then but
1051. 51:33if you look at so so then the lesson was
1052. 51:34loarn so then after World War II um uh
1053. 51:38when Germany and Japan were defeated uh
1054. 51:42the US actually helped rebuild uh Japan
1055. 51:45and Germany providing financial support
1056. 51:48to rebuild Japan and Germany and now
  1057. 51:50Japan and Germany are
1058. 51:52allies and and this is a very important
1059. 51:56and fundamental lesson of History yes
1060. 52:00you're absolutely right when um after
1061. 52:03the uh the Hamas attch um I um I just
1062. 52:09opened Google Maps to have a look okay
1063. 52:11uh what is the geographic situation
1064. 52:14there and when you see the Gaza
  1065. 52:17stripe right it's a Gaza Strip which is
1066. 52:22just locked locked in um um with with no
1067. 52:27resources and not even uh water supplies
1068. 52:30so there can be cut off a water supply
1069. 52:33and uh and other supplies just like just
  1070. 52:37just like
1071. 52:38instantaneously and uh this construction
1072. 52:42also like like just having a look like
  1073. 52:45from uh from a geographic perspective
1074. 52:48you don't need to be very smart that
1075. 52:50this is this is not going to work out
1076. 52:53and um to make this area
1077. 52:57wealthy with uh with a specific measure
  1078. 53:01being taking taken um it's a very vital
  1079. 53:06First Step true yeah I think I think
1080. 53:09it's essential um and it requires uh
1081. 53:13overriding the natural human instinct
1082. 53:14for reciprocity which is that you know
1083. 53:17to basically an eye for an eye um you
1084. 53:19know but the problem with that an eye
1085. 53:21for an eye is that if you keep doing
1086. 53:23that an eye for an eye as the saying
1087. 53:24goes an ey for an eye makes everyone
  1088. 53:26blind
  1089. 53:27um that's why I think there's great
1090. 53:29wisdom to forgiveness yeah um you know
1091. 53:32you need both strength and forgiveness
1092. 53:35um but uh this this is the only way to
1093. 53:39stop the the endless cycle of
  1094. 53:41violence it's a very nice uh nice
1095. 53:44sentence like um the eye forign eye
  1096. 53:47makes uh makes everyone
  1097. 53:50blind yeah exactly
1098. 53:53so um you so hopefully that that that
1099. 53:56can be the future um that's the best
1100. 53:58future I can think of I think any any
  1101. 54:00there there's not some other future
  1102. 54:02that's that that's that that
1103. 54:06works so um so how about uh may I ask
1104. 54:11you um um another question because uh we
1105. 54:15just um uh jumped topics uh what is your
1106. 54:19point of view so uh so um so um we
1107. 54:23stopped that um your Administration will
1108. 54:26end um the war in Ukraine very swiftly
1109. 54:31uh but um what is what is your
1110. 54:35perspective on the instruments and
1111. 54:37measures that could be taken so uh would
1112. 54:41you like to uh talk about it can you
1113. 54:43talk about it a little bit so what we
  1114. 54:46could expect
1115. 54:48yeah well this to be clear I mean this
1116. 54:51this is up to president Trump you know
1117. 54:53um he is the the commander and chief um
1118. 54:58and uh so it's it's really uh you know
  1119. 55:02you know up to him so um I I don't want
1120. 55:06I don't want to speak for him so but I
  1121. 55:08but I just I do think that there's there
1122. 55:12there is a path here to a resolution and
1123. 55:15um but does require strong leadership uh
1124. 55:18in the United States uh in order to to
1125. 55:21get this done yeah um so yeah um
1126. 55:27but I'm confident that it can be done
  1127. 55:30okay yeah yeah and I do think it's
1128. 55:32possible to have peace in the Middle
1129. 55:33East as well um these are these are
1130. 55:36possible so and I think that would be a
1131. 55:39great future for the world yeah so
  1132. 55:42um
1133. 55:44yeah no great so it's absolutely Fair um
1134. 55:48so um so very very um fine with me um
1135. 55:56yeah yes well let's see are there any
1136. 55:58other topics we should discuss or if you
1137. 56:01have any questions for me or anything
1138. 56:04you because because uh because I want to
1139. 56:08ask and many people are interested in
1140. 56:10that so why do you believe um that uh
1141. 56:16flying to Mars and populating
1142. 56:19Mars is your top um priority uh uh topic
1143. 56:25is B X and when do you think uh when
1144. 56:30will you be ready to have a human
1145. 56:33expedition to to Mars if you if you
1146. 56:38allow if I may ask this question because
1147. 56:40everyone is interested so these are
  1148. 56:42great projects
  1149. 56:44right yeah um well I mean I I think at
1150. 56:49at a very high level I think sort of
1151. 56:52like what what set of actions um are
1152. 56:55going to to lead to the long-term uh
1153. 56:59prosperity of civilization um you know
1154. 57:03the sort of a growth in the scale and
1155. 57:06scope of Consciousness um you know the
1156. 57:09to to the best of our knowledge uh the
1157. 57:12there we we are the only place with with
1158. 57:15life or certainly the only place with
1159. 57:16life that that is intelligent in some
1160. 57:19form you a lot of people think oh there
1161. 57:21there must be aliens but I've not seen
1162. 57:23any evidence of aliens um and if the
1163. 57:27archaeological records are correct you
1164. 57:29know Earth is 4 and a half billion years
1165. 57:31old but civilization as measured from
1166. 57:34the first writing is only about 5,000
1167. 57:36years old which is about 1 millionth of
1168. 57:38Earth's existence so we're all of human
1169. 57:41civilization is a tiny flash in the van
1170. 57:44uh so far uh and so we have to say well
1171. 57:47what steps can we take to ensure the
1172. 57:50long-term survival of uh of of Life as
1173. 57:53We Know of Consciousness and if we are a
1174. 57:56multiplet species the probable lifespan
1175. 57:58of of Consciousness is dramatically
1176. 58:01greater than if we are a single planet
1177. 58:03species um this is not to say that I
1178. 58:06think that there's that Earth is about
1179. 58:08to die or anything like that but there
1180. 58:10is some risk um you know if there is if
1181. 58:13there is a global thermonuclear war or
1182. 58:15some extreme natural event like a giant
1183. 58:18you know meteor that hits the Earth uh
  1184. 58:21that causes a mass extinction event I
1185. 58:23mean if we look at the fossil record
1186. 58:25there are at least five extreme mass
1187. 58:29extinction events uh that would have
1188. 58:31basically Extinction events that would
1189. 58:33have destroyed all of humanity
1190. 58:35completely um uh there's five of them at
1191. 58:38least um and so so I think if we we
1192. 58:44should take this opportunity today um
1193. 58:47because For the First Time In the four
1194. 58:49and a half billion year history of Earth
1195. 58:51it is possible to extend life and to to
  1196. 58:53extend Consciousness beyond Earth
1197. 58:56and and that window of opportunity may
1198. 58:58be open for a short time or it may be
1199. 59:00open for a long time but just just in
1200. 59:02case uh it is it is open for a short
1201. 59:05time um we must take advantage of this
1202. 59:08window um and as quickly as possible
  1203. 59:10become a multi-planet species um and
  1204. 59:13ensure the long-term survival of
1205. 59:15civilization so what is your time frame
  1206. 59:19um for
1207. 59:21a for a Expedition like for the first
  1208. 59:24first human Expedition
1209. 59:29well yeah so to be clear the what
1210. 59:32matters is not so much the sort of flags
1211. 59:34and Footprints but the establishment of
1212. 59:37a self-sustaining City on Mars uh where
1213. 59:40the critical threshold is where the city
1214. 59:44can grow uh independent of Earth meaning
1215. 59:46if the resupply shifts from Earth stop
1216. 59:49coming from any reason um that the that
1217. 59:52the U the Mars colony does not die out
1218. 59:57um that that's if we are able to reach
1219. 59:59that point uh then uh we have we have
1220. 1:00:03passed one of the the very important and
1221. 1:00:06fundamental firy great filters um you
1222. 1:00:09know this there's this idea of like why
1223. 1:00:11don't we see evidence of of intelligence
1224. 1:00:14life well there that there this idea
1225. 1:00:18that there are these various great
1226. 1:00:19filters that that these civilizations
1227. 1:00:22never pass and one of those great
1228. 1:00:24filters is never never going Beyond home
1229. 1:00:26planet so if we can pass the F great
1230. 1:00:29filter of being a single planet species
1231. 1:00:32um and to be clear if we are a single
1232. 1:00:34kind of species it is just a matter of
  1233. 1:00:36time before we are
1234. 1:00:38annihilated one can argue about how long
1235. 1:00:41it will take but eventually there will
1236. 1:00:43be something that happens that
  1237. 1:00:45annihilates uh
1238. 1:00:47civilization um it might be very far in
1239. 1:00:50the future but we simply know from from
1240. 1:00:53the fossil record as I mentioned that
1241. 1:00:54there have been at least five Mass
  1242. 1:00:56natural Extinction events and and I
  1243. 1:00:58think there's there's added risk for
1244. 1:01:00humans that we could destroy ourselves
1245. 1:01:03um because the dinosaurs did not have uh
1246. 1:01:05thermonuclear weapons uh so they also
1247. 1:01:09didn't have spaceships um so so we've
1248. 1:01:12got uh we've got the risk of the of
1249. 1:01:16thermonuclear wall that could destroy
1250. 1:01:17everyone but we also have spaceships
  1251. 1:01:19that can make life
1252. 1:01:21multiplanetary and um so the but with to
1253. 1:01:26answer your question more directly um I
1254. 1:01:28think we can send UNCW Starships to Mars
1255. 1:01:31in approximately two years so Earth and
1256. 1:01:34Mars are are to be Earth and Mars align
1257. 1:01:37for for planetary transfer roughly
1258. 1:01:41every every two years every 2 years ah
1259. 1:01:44two years yes so the Earth obviously
1260. 1:01:49takes a year to go around the Sun Mars
1261. 1:01:51takes approximately two years um and
1262. 1:01:54obviously one cannot go to Mars when it
1263. 1:01:56is on the other side of the Sun from
1264. 1:01:58Earth yeah U so we we have to wait for
1265. 1:02:01when Mars is in roughly the same
1266. 1:02:03quadrant of the uh solar system as Earth
1267. 1:02:07and that occurs uh uh for about six
1268. 1:02:10months every two years um and the
1269. 1:02:12optimal transfer window is typically
1270. 1:02:14just a few months so uh for a few months
1271. 1:02:18every two years or every 26 months uh
1272. 1:02:21you can you can transfer to M um so so
  1273. 1:02:25we Curr there's currently a Ms trans
1274. 1:02:27transfer window which means that the
1275. 1:02:28next one is in two years from now um and
1276. 1:02:32then there'll be another one two years
1277. 1:02:34after that so for the one in two years I
1278. 1:02:36think we can send uncrewed Starships to
1279. 1:02:38l m to you to test that we The Landing
  1280. 1:02:42systems are working properly
1281. 1:02:46um we want to make sure that we don't um
1282. 1:02:48you know add add more crators to Mars
1283. 1:02:52um yeah that would be the
1284. 1:02:57uh yeah the trater count increment must
1285. 1:03:01be zero um and so once we prove that it
1286. 1:03:06is safe to land then um if if like if
1287. 1:03:09all the shifts we send in about two
1288. 1:03:10years land safely uh and we think we
1289. 1:03:13understand the issues then in in
1290. 1:03:15principle that in about four years you
1291. 1:03:17could send the first uh people um and
1292. 1:03:20then it then the number of ships can
1293. 1:03:23expand exponentially from the from that
  1294. 1:03:25point
1295. 1:03:26um I mean as as a rough order of
1296. 1:03:28magnitude my guess is that uh we need to
  1297. 1:03:32transport about Mill about a million
1298. 1:03:34tons of cargo uh to Mars to make it s
1299. 1:03:38sustaining um you know when things are
1300. 1:03:40very uncertain I think if you can even
1301. 1:03:42guess to within one order of magnitude
1302. 1:03:44are doing quite well um so I suspect
  1303. 1:03:46probably 100,000 tons is maybe not
  1304. 1:03:48enough and hopefully we don't need 10
1305. 1:03:50million tons so therefore my guess is
1306. 1:03:53hopefully a million tons is enough to
  1307. 1:03:55make Wass
  1308. 1:03:56self-sustaining so maybe it's a million
1309. 1:03:58tons of cargo to S Mars and about you
1310. 1:04:01know a million people or more um so
  1311. 1:04:05that's that's really what matters the
1312. 1:04:07the critical threshold from the
  1313. 1:04:08standpoint of of a fundamental uh
1314. 1:04:11branching of the future of civilization
1315. 1:04:14uh is is is that that point of reaching
1316. 1:04:17on Mars where uh Mars can grow by itself
1317. 1:04:21even if uh resupply ships from Earth
1318. 1:04:23stop coming at that point the future of
  1319. 1:04:26civilization branches and to a good
1320. 1:04:29Branch wow um and probable lifespan of
1321. 1:04:32civilization is dramatically greater yes
1322. 1:04:35and and my guess is that that there will
1323. 1:04:37be cases where the the the future
1324. 1:04:40martians actually come and help and
1325. 1:04:42rescue Earth and you know when there is
1326. 1:04:44an emergency um you know just as America
1327. 1:04:47has helped to to rescue the rest of the
1328. 1:04:50world in World War I and two and uh and
1329. 1:04:52the Cold War um and you know where would
1330. 1:04:55the world be if if not for America
1331. 1:04:57helping out in those three
1332. 1:05:00circumstances so so my I think that
1333. 1:05:03there's a good chance Mars helps save
1334. 1:05:04Earth at some point in the future maybe
1335. 1:05:06many times and then once we have uh a a
1336. 1:05:10civilization on Mars we can expand to
1337. 1:05:12the rest of the solar system uh to the
1338. 1:05:15uh you know the larger asteroids like
1339. 1:05:19SES maybe to the moons of Jupiter and
1340. 1:05:22Saturn and Beyond at least through the
1341. 1:05:24rest of the solar system and
1342. 1:05:26then you know and then we go from being
  1343. 1:05:29hopefully a multiplet civilization to at
  1344. 1:05:32some point a multi- stellar civilization
1345. 1:05:34and we're out there Among the Stars um
1346. 1:05:37and uh and then we can try to find out
1347. 1:05:39what is the nature of the universe uh
1348. 1:05:44you know Perhaps Perhaps when we go to
1349. 1:05:46and visit these far away star systems we
1350. 1:05:49will discover the remains of long dead
  1351. 1:05:52alien
  1352. 1:05:53civilizations I think that would be
1353. 1:05:55incredible interesting for sure it will
1354. 1:05:57greatly improve our understanding of the
1355. 1:05:59nature of the universe absolutely yes so
1356. 1:06:04and and and things like the time scales
1357. 1:06:05are just remarkable to think about um I
1358. 1:06:08mean physics uh suggests that the
1359. 1:06:10universe is about 13.8 billion years old
1360. 1:06:13um and um I mean even the elements in
  1361. 1:06:16our body that aren't hydrogen
1362. 1:06:20um like any heavier elements had to be
1363. 1:06:23formed in um in the center of a star and
1364. 1:06:27so the you know the a large part of our
1365. 1:06:29body was actually formed in the in the
1366. 1:06:32center of a star and that star exploded
1367. 1:06:34and then the elements recondensed um
1368. 1:06:37ultimately billions of years later to um
  1369. 1:06:41form Earth and
1370. 1:06:43humans so but so when you think about
1371. 1:06:46these time scales they were really
1372. 1:06:47remarkable to think about um yeah and
  1373. 1:06:51but a civilization that lasted a million
1374. 1:06:53years so our civilization you know like
1375. 1:06:55so I think a good metric for saying what
  1376. 1:06:58when does a civilization start I think
1377. 1:07:00is maybe writing you know that's if you
  1378. 1:07:03can pick anything I'd pick that that's
  1379. 1:07:05only 5,000 years ago
  1380. 1:07:07so um so for a civilization like let's
1381. 1:07:10say last an incremental million years
  1382. 1:07:13that that's an enormous amount of
1383. 1:07:15crime as compared to the length of human
  1384. 1:07:18civilization but it's very small
1385. 1:07:20compared to the age of the Universe um
1386. 1:07:23you'd have to go three digits past the
1387. 1:07:25decimal point of 13.8 million years just
  1388. 1:07:27to increment 1 million
1389. 1:07:29years so so I think we may find when we
1390. 1:07:33go out there and explore these star
1391. 1:07:34systems that that there were alien
1392. 1:07:36civilizations maybe they lasted for
1393. 1:07:37millions of years much longer than we've
1394. 1:07:40lasted um and and I any civilization
1395. 1:07:43that can last a million years is going
1396. 1:07:45to be in the Hall of Fame this is this
1397. 1:07:47an incredibly long time um so anyway and
1398. 1:07:52I think as you know for Humanity we
1399. 1:07:54don't want to be one of those lame One
1400. 1:07:56Planet civilizations like you know any
  1401. 1:07:59self-respecting civilization should have
1402. 1:08:01at least two planets um so that's um
1403. 1:08:05that's what we should aim for Wow uh if
1404. 1:08:09you so so you just said that um um the
1405. 1:08:13uh the human body comprises of elements
1406. 1:08:16of an exploded and then uh re reordered
1407. 1:08:20um elements right so do you uh do do you
1408. 1:08:25think that this um coincidentally
1409. 1:08:28happened or do you believe in
  1410. 1:08:30God I'm just curious because because
1411. 1:08:34because many people say okay this cannot
  1412. 1:08:37have been a
1413. 1:08:39coincidence um that cannot right so uh
  1414. 1:08:43so it
1415. 1:08:44just could have been um God so do you
  1416. 1:08:47believe in
  1417. 1:08:49god well I'm I'm open to believing in
1418. 1:08:53things proportionate to the information
  1419. 1:08:56that I receive so um so I mean I I guess
1420. 1:09:00I have sort of a physics view of reality
1421. 1:09:03uh which is you know uh you know I guess
1422. 1:09:08I'm trying to I'm trying to understand
1423. 1:09:10the universe as much as possible to
  1424. 1:09:11understand what's going on I I'm
1425. 1:09:14certainly open to the idea of God and if
1426. 1:09:16you say like well where did the universe
1427. 1:09:18come from U how is it created
1428. 1:09:22um I suppose there would be some entity
  1429. 1:09:25that
  1430. 1:09:27that you could call God I I that would I
  1431. 1:09:30don't
  1432. 1:09:31know but but there's that's a separate
1433. 1:09:33question from say is is there some
1434. 1:09:35entity that is observing our daily
  1435. 1:09:37actions and rendering rendering a moral
1436. 1:09:40verdict on what we do from day to day um
1437. 1:09:43that doesn't appear to be the case
1438. 1:09:45because you know at least that there's
1439. 1:09:47some very evil things that happen in the
  1440. 1:09:49world and
  1441. 1:09:50if if there's someone observing us on a
1442. 1:09:52moral basis continually then it it does
1443. 1:09:55seem odd that uh some very evil things
1444. 1:09:58are allowed to occur um but but maybe
  1445. 1:10:02that is the case I I don't know I I just
1446. 1:10:04I try to um form my opinions based on
  1447. 1:10:06what I learn and as I learn more I
1448. 1:10:09aspire to change my views to match what
  1449. 1:10:12I
1450. 1:10:14learned yeah same here to be honest um
  1451. 1:10:19I'm still on a search and I I don't know
1452. 1:10:23what to believe um um so it's called
  1453. 1:10:26maybe a
1454. 1:10:28agnostic and um yeah um but it's very
1455. 1:10:32interesting to see how how the world and
  1456. 1:10:35also the universe
1457. 1:10:38evolved um and um yeah it was it was
1458. 1:10:41incredibly interesting to listen to your
  1459. 1:10:44Visions um and um yeah it's it's quite a
1460. 1:10:48vision for for for every one of
1461. 1:10:51us yeah I would say that what I have is
  1462. 1:10:54a philosophy of curiosity
  1463. 1:10:56uh so I'm I'm curious about the nature
1464. 1:10:57of the universe and um I would say I
1465. 1:11:01subscrib to the Douglas Adams School of
1466. 1:11:03philosophy that was described in the
1467. 1:11:05hitag as gu of the Galaxy um you know um
1468. 1:11:09and um you in that book the Earth was
1469. 1:11:11sort of a giant computer that was trying
1470. 1:11:13to answer the question what is the
1471. 1:11:15meaning of life um and then it comes
  1472. 1:11:18back with the 40 42 and and they're like
  1473. 1:11:21what does 42 mean and it's well it's
1474. 1:11:24actually the the answer is the easy part
1475. 1:11:26and the question is the hard part um so
1476. 1:11:30uh you know that was actually quite uh
1477. 1:11:33an Illuminating thing for me because I
1478. 1:11:35had sort of an existential crisis when I
  1479. 1:11:37was I 12 or 13 about the meaning of life
  1480. 1:11:40and you know I read I read
1481. 1:11:42many the religious texts and the books
  1482. 1:11:45on
1483. 1:11:46philosophy um you know I was like
1484. 1:11:48reading sh aronia and whatnot uh which
1485. 1:11:51is a bit depressing if you're to read as
1486. 1:11:52a child um but you
  1487. 1:11:57ultimately why do they're they're a bit
1488. 1:12:01negative um so uh at times you know um
1489. 1:12:06it's it's actually it makes more sense
1490. 1:12:07reading it as an adult but uh but then I
1491. 1:12:10I read the H Guide to the Galaxy which
1492. 1:12:12is really a book in philosophy in the
1493. 1:12:14form of humor and um and I think it kind
1494. 1:12:16of really illust that that I thought was
1495. 1:12:20very insightful uh that that we should
1496. 1:12:24basically try to understand that nature
1497. 1:12:25of the universe and in fact understand
1498. 1:12:28even what questions to ask about the
1499. 1:12:29answer that is the universe and so that
1500. 1:12:32led me to conclude that we should aspire
1501. 1:12:35to uh expand the scope and scale of
  1502. 1:12:38Consciousness so that we're better able
1503. 1:12:41to to know what questions to ask about
1504. 1:12:44the nature about the answer that is the
1505. 1:12:46Universe um so we we should just seem to
1506. 1:12:50you take the set of actions that lead to
1507. 1:12:52a greater understanding uh of the
  1508. 1:12:56universe
1509. 1:12:58wonderful actually these are these are
1510. 1:13:01perfect um last words to be honest for
1511. 1:13:04our conversation because because because
1512. 1:13:07I don't know right now like uh what to
1513. 1:13:10uh what to continue because these no
1514. 1:13:14really because these words are so
1515. 1:13:16beautiful so I would just like uh screw
1516. 1:13:19it up and um it was wonderful it was
1517. 1:13:23very it was wonderful talking to you and
