  3. 0:20about the alex jones defamation trial
  4. 0:24um and this is not going to be a
  5. 0:25political discussion
  6. 0:27but it's going to be an evidentiary
  7. 0:28legal discussion during that trial
  8. 0:31regardless of how you feel about the
  9. 0:33plaintiff or the defendant in that case
  10. 0:34that was a civil case not a criminal
  11. 0:36case
  12. 0:37civil cases or lawsuits civil cases are
  13. 0:39what we handle at zarzar law but during
  14. 0:41that trial it became clear that alex
  15. 0:45jones's lawyers accidentally turned over
  16. 0:48an electronic file
  17. 0:50that had text messages from alex jones
  18. 0:53that he had already said he didn't have
  19. 0:55and there were multiple years of text
  20. 0:57messages
  21. 0:58those text messages were
  22. 1:01inappropriately if you will
  23. 1:04produced or weren't intended to be
  24. 1:06produced
  25. 1:07and the reason that that happens
  26. 1:09sometimes
  27. 1:11is that this electronic discovery
  28. 1:15documents that are kept
  29. 1:16on electronic files
  30. 1:19they sometimes become hard to separate
  31. 1:22from
  32. 1:22from documents that are
  33. 1:24eligible for production in a case and
  34. 1:27those that are not and they since they
  35. 1:28all come into the law office as one file
  36. 1:32you have to break the file up into
  37. 1:35separate components in order to pick and
  38. 1:37parse what is producible or what is
  39. 1:40going to be produced and what is not
  40. 1:41going to be produced and it looks like
  41. 1:44somebody either at the firm of the law
  42. 1:46the law firm that was handling alex
  43. 1:48jones's defense or the lawyer or
  44. 1:50somebody did not make sure that the file
  45. 1:53was trimmed so as to only include
  46. 1:57the things that meant to be produced
  47. 2:00that can happen
  48. 2:02in any case if you're not sure that the
  49. 2:05law firm that you're hiring is crossing
  50. 2:08the t's and dotting the eyes in regards
  51. 2:10to the discovery in a piece of
  52. 2:12litigation so
  53. 2:14make sure you hire a board-certified
  54. 2:17civil trial lawyer to handle your injury
  55. 2:19case because you can count on the fact
  56. 2:21that somebody is board certified by the
  57. 2:23florida bar in civil trial
  58. 2:26knows how to make sure they don't
  59. 2:28produce things that are not
  60. 2:31eligible for production or not that
  61. 2:33shouldn't be produced
