- 0:05the false claims about the Sandy Hook
- 0:06shooting the Connecticut jury in this
- 0:08trial to determine damages is listening
- 0:10to his defense today they will decide
- 0:12how much money he'll have to pay family
- 0:14members of some of the 26 victims NBC
- 0:17News correspondent rahema Ellis has been
- 0:19following it all for us all of this Alex
- 0:21Jones legal battle over the course of
- 0:23months now she joins us we're in the
- 0:25seventh day of this trial right rahima
- 0:28and this is to determine damages it's
- 0:30the second of three trials that will do
- 0:32this walk us through what he has
- 0:34testified to so far yeah it's his first
- 0:36time on the witness stand and he's being
- 0:38questioned by the attorney for the
- 0:41families and he's being asked whether or
- 0:43not he was attempting to monetize this
- 0:46lie about what happened on his radio
- 0:49show and he today he was asked was he
- 0:52not trying to monetize what's happening
- 0:54in the courtroom in Connecticut on his
- 0:57radio show listen to the exchange of
- 0:59what he says uh in questioning about the
- 1:02court and about the judge whom the
- 1:05attorney suggests he's trying to make a
- 1:07mockery of take a listen
- 1:10and you actually use that word a lot
- 1:11with your audience you call people
- 1:13tyrants not you
- 1:16only when they act like it okay
- 1:20and one way that you've been conveying
- 1:22to your audience that
- 1:24judge Bellis has been acting like a
- 1:27tyrant is by showing her with lasers
- 1:31coming out of her eyes right
- 1:33you know you did that
- 1:35I didn't direct that first time I saw I
- 1:37was in court and so he's saying
- 1:39something he saw in court he tried to be
- 1:41evasive to saying this isn't something
- 1:43that he's doing people are doing for him
- 1:45but the attorney said but you pay them
- 1:47don't you and he admit it yes he does so
- 1:50the he's already been found liable in
- 1:52this case this is a damages trial just
- 1:53to figure out uh the money element of
- 1:55this Jones has already been told to pay
- 1:57for what 50 million dollars in a
- 1:59different case do we have an
- 2:01understanding of how or whether these
- 2:03two things will will impact each other
- 2:05the judge in this case is trying to make
- 2:07certain that they don't that she's been
- 2:09very clear that they are not to bring up
- 2:11what happened in that Texas case she
- 2:13says she wants to stay focused on this
- 2:15this is a civil case he has already been
- 2:18found libel this is a question of
- 2:20Damages they haven't put any number on
- 2:22what they want the damages to be in
- 2:24terms of the plaintiffs of families but
- 2:26that will come at some point
