1:16retired as the 1980s draw to a close the
1:24dark cloud is brewing over the Sunshine
1:26State December the first 1989 police
1:32recover an abandoned vehicle the car has
1:36been stripped of ID and wiped clean of
1:38prints the owner is missing lieutenant
1:42Steve vinegar is initially unconcerned a
1:45lot of people go missing in the state
1:48because it's a very transient state I

2:01from the abandoned car plunges
2:04detectives into a murder investigation
2:07police struggle to identify the corpse

3:39investigators notice a chilling
3:41similarity in each of the killings
3:45each of these cases involved somebody
3:48being killed with the 22 caliber which
3:51is typically more of a woman's gun
3:53people don't usually use a 22 caliber
3:56gun to do murders and yet we have three
3:59of them right in Central Florida it's
4:02not a powerful weapon and is usually
4:05used for self-defense the same small
4:08caliber gun was used to kill Richard
4:11Mallory and there is a similar pattern
4:13to all four murders they were on a
4:16vehicle they were white they were male
4:22by a dream enlist a little bit younger
4:25the seats and the vehicles were pulled
4:28to the forward-most position and that
4:31would be a common thread was a little
4:34unusual but as police begin to make the
4:40connections between these murders a
4:42killer continues to stalk Florida's
4:45highways come on in retired police chief
4:51charles countries he's on his way home
4:54to his wife of 35 years and he stops to
4:57pick up a hitchhiker
5:02what if you want money I've got money
5:06with a fifth man lying dead police are
5:10rocks by the realization of hunting a
5:12serial killer petronicus who set up to
5:15analyze the murders and draw up a
5:17profile of the killer what kind of
5:21person could get close enough to all of
5:24the victims to perpetuate his crime all
5:29the particulars to the individual crimes
5:32were discussed there was a time line set
5:34up for all the individual victims time
5:38of death and items that have been found
5:40forensic investigator Ward Schwab is
5:43part of the team looking for patterns
5:45that could unmask the killer that's when
5:48the linkages actually started forming
5:51for me condition of the victims bodies
5:54led investigators to speculate that it
5:57might be a murder by a prostitute or
6:00someone that was out commissioning for
6:03sex where there were some partial nudity
6:07of the victim plus there were some
6:09evidence of discarded condoms something
6:15extraordinary begins to dawn on the task
6:17force could it be that the serial killer

6:33bodies and cars scattered across
6:35Florida's interstates now how a
6:41detective's believe they have a highly
6:43unusual face on their hands they suspect
6:46the killer they are looking for his
6:48female soliciting along the highways to
6:53get close to the men she Rob's and
6:56murders there was no other documented
6:59female serial killers that we could
7:00think of you wonder how do they act as
7:03compared to a male serial killer the
7:10fifth and latest victim is retired
7:12police chief charles Humphries who was
7:15returning home from his job as a child
7:16welfare officer when we examine the body
7:22further an autopsy look like he had
7:24actually been spinning and was being
7:27shot as he was turning like he was
7:29trying to get away
7:33the painstaking search for clues at
7:35Florida's central crime map is
7:37frustrated by the killer's attention to
7:40detail lab analyst Merv Stephens
7:43processes the evidence in the hope of
7:46finding a single print the individual
7:48that was committing this crime was very
7:51methodical as far as trying to wipe down
7:53all the evidence they knew possible that
7:56may leave the crime scene back to them
8:00frustrated by the lack of evidence to
8:03move the case on unsolved crime files
8:06are reopened in a bid to try and find a
8:08lead the case of missing missionary
8:12Peter scenes stands out Peter Sellers
8:16was a middle-aged man traveling alone on
8:19Florida's interstate investigators
8:22discovered it seems abandoned car was
8:24found not far from where the four other
8:27victims vehicles were dumped we felt
8:31there could be a very good connection
8:33here between Peter Sims vehicle and the
8:35other homicides that were occurring
8:36other cars had been wiped clean other
8:39vehicles had their license plates
8:40removed and every other vehicle had the
8:43seat pulled forward but with the scenes
8:47case there's one crucial difference the
8:51missing man's car has been crashed and
8:54there is a vital piece of evidence
8:56inside a bloody palm print
9:09the the palm print being made in blood
9:12makes it a very fragile type of print if
9:17you start moving around too much the
9:19print will actually almost just fall to
9:20pieces it's the first definite clue for
9:24the investigators out there Isis you
9:26touch your forehead and gnosis had some
9:29blood and grabbing the arm rest to
9:33release the door handle is where the the
9:36palm print was found and unless you take
9:38the armrest off you wouldn't see the
9:40palm print finding the killer's print is

9:52case has provided another vital lead the
9:55police have an eyewitness account from a
9:57local resident who was close to scenes
9:59car on the day it was crashed and then

10:08were rinsing the blood off detectives

10:16to the investigation the sketch based on
10:19the eyewitnesses account shows not one
10:22of two female suspects
10:26do investigators now have two serial
10:29killers on their hands it was
10:31overwhelming my I can remember my first
10:34thought is what do we do now but
10:38detectives have little time to think
10:39before another body is discovered
10:46normally with a body don't you have some
10:50other evidence there in this particular
10:52case there was not it appeared to me
10:54that someone had gone to great lengths
10:58to try and hide the identity of the
11:01decedent the seventh victim has
11:04identified as trucker and reserve police
11:06officer Walter Antonio what forensics
11:10notice at the crime scene is vital we
11:14could see indentations on his hands
11:16where he had rings that have been
11:17removed we saw an imitation on his wrist
11:20where what a wristwatch has been removed
11:22but no those were in the immediate area
11:25if detectives could locate these missing
11:27positions they could lead directly to
11:30the killer police begin an extensive
11:34search of Florida's pawn shops in the
11:36hope of finding evidence 30 bucks sign
11:40here but they know time is not on their
11:43side we realized that frequency of the
11:47homicides was increasing and we knew we
11:50had to act quickly because we didn't
11:52want to have anybody else kill the
11:54police go public with the sketches of
11:56the substrate it's a subject that seems
12:00to horrify and fascinate us at the same
12:02time another serial killer is in the
12:04news this color does not fit the typical
12:07profile it was a tough decision because
12:11once you release that you don't know how
12:13the public's going to react if they're
12:15going to panic if they're going to help
12:16what's going to happen and you really
12:19have to be prepared for it and at this
12:21point we were prepared to release them
12:22within hours of the report hundreds of
12:25tips come flooding in there was a sketch
12:28of a lady that looked very much like a
12:30lady i picked up the night before it
12:32said that they suspected there might be
12:33a woman going around as a serial killer
12:35van it said
12:36if you had an encounter with anybody
12:38that resembles this person you know
12:40contact the police so I told my wife and
12:43I should probably give the police a call
12:44and I did trishna is one of many who
12:48respond to the appeal for information I
12:50was heading north on the road and pulled
12:55over because I thought at the time that
12:56you know a lady getting picked up by
12:59some guy might get hurt I thought I was
13:01doing a nice thing by picking her up and
13:02I said well you know you're welcome to
13:05take a ride in there she got into the
13:07car she had a bag that she was fidgeting
13:09lives in her hand yeah you know do you
13:11think I'm a prostitute that's a strange
13:13question I said no I just thought you're
13:15a lady that was in need of a ride I
13:17wasn't picking her up to get those
13:19services so you know she didn't want to
13:20stay with me long the investigators can
13:25now begin to build a profile of the
13:27suspect the leads coming over pretty
13:29good you don't always get that lucky
13:31they point to two women who stay in the
13:34Daytona area who matched the description
13:36of the eyewitness sketch
13:40part of the league's indicated that they
13:43had stated the Fairview motel under the
13:46name of cami more scream in room number
13:488 we had the Volusia County Sheriff's
13:51Office check their porn records to see
13:54if there had been anything pawned and in
13:55any of these names and what they found
13:58was that cami green had actually pawned
14:00a couple of items we got the point ikut
14:03sfrom them and one of those porn tickets
14:05included the items that had been taken
14:07from Richard Mallory a radar detector
14:10and a 35-millimeter camera the list up
14:17police quickly realized that cami large
14:19green is a false name but the pawn shop
14:23has provided detectives with a vital
14:25piece of evidence at that time you're
14:30required to put a fingerprint on the
14:33pawn ticket well fingerprints don't lie
14:36thumbprint come through here

14:46the print is rushed to the state's
14:49fingerprint lab director Jenny at home
14:52runs it through the automated
14:54identification system I ran the print
14:58numerous times to no avail I also had a
15:02co-worker of mine run the print to no
15:06avail the automated system does not
15:11contain every print that the state holds
15:13a Hearn prepares to search through the
15:16database manually it's an awesome
15:19undertaking we really knew we were
15:24looking for the needle in a haystack the
15:26killer is still at large it looks as
15:29though it'll take a fern and her
15:30colleagues weeks to search through
15:32hundreds of thousands of Records we take
15:36out a chunk of cards at one time and you
15:39physically with your bare I flip through
15:42each card eliminating prints that are
15:45not close I had only been in a drawer
15:48for about 15 minutes I had taken out one
15:51set section of the cards I'm flipping
15:55through looking at each card one at a
15:57time and within 15 minutes of the first
16:01set I found a card but I felt was close
16:06I could not even breathe because I was
16:11so excited about the possibilities of
16:13this that we may actually have found
16:16this woman so I've looked at it looked
16:21at my print looks back at it again look
16:24back we knew we were looking for a white
16:27female turn the card over to white
16:31female I was just beside myself they
16:38traced the printer to a woman whose name
16:41is Eileen willingness she had been a
16:47previously arrested for possession of a
16:4922 caliber nine-shot revolver we're
16:54thinking this is definitely a person
16:57that we need to take hard look at
17:02investigators need to establish detailed
17:04information about the prime suspect come
17:11on she travels in the circles of you
17:15know drugs and alcohol and prostitution
17:19she seemed to always gravitate back to
17:22the Volusia County area we decided to
17:24put some surveillance teams out it was a
17:27very much a long shot the team began
17:30combing Daytona in the hope of tracking

17:34Mike Joyner is one of the undercover

18:57neither woman shows up detectives

42:34new life and so she couldn't wait to get
