- 0:00So, welcome back to the channel, guys.
- 0:01Uh one of Adidas' cheapest running shoe
- 0:03is back, the eighth version of the
- 0:05Adidas Galaxy model, the Adidas Galaxy
- 0:088. And this time, it is bigger than
- 0:10ever. I was kind of intrigued. Is bigger
- 0:12always better? For me, the first proper
- 0:14Adidas Galaxy running shoe was the
- 0:16Galaxy 7. I reviewed that last year,
- 0:18pretty comfortable with a decent rebound
- 0:20for such a cheap shoe. The ones before
- 0:22that were not much in terms of running
- 0:24shoes. So, after the good experience
- 0:25with the Galaxy 7, I felt some curiosity
- 0:28when the eighth version came out. So, I
- 0:29decided to check it out. These look very
- 0:31different from the last version with a
- 0:33lot more foam underfoot, giving them a
- 0:35really chunky vibe. But first, let's
- 0:37talk price. The Adidas Galaxy 8 remains
- 0:40one of the most affordable decent
- 0:42branded running shoes out there. On the
- 0:44US Adidas website, it's listed for $60,
- 0:46the same price as the Galaxy 7. And you
- 0:48know what that means, because with
- 0:49discounts, many people are going to snag
- 0:51these for between $30 to $50.
- 0:54>> [music]
- 0:57>> Aside that, let's talk quality. These
- 0:59are not shabby at all. Like the previous
- 1:00version, it is pretty decent with very
- 1:02fine finishing. And it does look good on
- 1:04feet, too. I think these actually look
- 1:06better than the previous version. Uh
- 1:08what do you guys think? Now, let's get
- 1:09into more details. Just looking at it,
- 1:11it's pretty obvious the stack is very
- 1:13much increased. The weight, in my size
- 1:14US 11, comes in at 350 g per shoe. It is
- 1:17still a heavy shoe. But then, if you
- 1:19consider overall, you see that there's
- 1:20an improvement, you know, because
- 1:22despite increasing the stack, the weight
- 1:24is still the same as that of last year's
- 1:26version. The upper is made of textile
- 1:28mesh that gives these a very smooth and
- 1:30sleek look. A little thick, but
- 1:31definitely not as thick as the previous
- 1:33version. So, breathability is a little
- 1:35improved, and it feels very smooth and
- 1:37comfortable on skin, too. Notice quite
- 1:40thick padding around the collar and the
- 1:41heel counter. Not so thick on the
- 1:43tongue, but enough to still maintain
- 1:45nice comfort under the laces. Overall,
- 1:47you get a nice, comfortable, and
- 1:48supportive feel around the ankle. The
- 1:50midsole is a single layer of Adidas
- 1:52Cloudfoam, 36 mm in the heel, 30 in the
- 1:55the with a 6-mm heel-to-toe drop. This
- 1:57is definitely on the firm side, but it
- 1:59gets better the more you run in it.
- 2:00However, don't expect a plush ride. It
- 2:03is firm, but because there's so much
- 2:04foam underfoot, it is still quite
- 2:06comfortable. And the thicker sole makes
- 2:07this one less flexible. Again, these are
- 2:09surprisingly responsive, not like the
- 2:11more premium shoes, of course, but
- 2:13enough to get a decent comfortable run
- 2:15in. They did not particularly feel heavy
- 2:17on feet. The OrthoLite insole is glued
- 2:19to the midsole, thick and soft, helping
- 2:21the underfoot comfort. The unnamed TPU
- 2:23outsole is somewhat stiff with a very
- 2:25generous coverage. Talking about fit,
- 2:27the Adidas Galaxy 8 fits true to size,
- 2:29just like the previous version. I got my
- 2:31usual size, and it fit me perfectly.
- 2:33Lockdown is pretty good, even better
- 2:35when the runner's knot is secured. The
- 2:36arch support is good. The firm foam and
- 2:38relatively wide platform gives it a nice
- 2:41stability.
- 2:45How did this actually feel when I was
- 2:47running in them? On the road, these
- 2:49shoes felt firm but comfortable. They
- 2:51were quite stable and moderately
- 2:52responsive. Breathability is okay. They
- 2:54get slightly better the more you run in
- 2:56them, but never expect a soft ride in
- 2:58this one. Adidas markets these shoes as
- 3:00something for daily commute and runs up
- 3:02to 5K. They describe it as a shoe you
- 3:04can use for daily activities and also
- 3:06get some short runs in. And that's
- 3:08exactly what you can do with these
- 3:09shoes. Short easy distances as well as
- 3:11casual all day wear. Because of the
- 3:13thicker midsole, they are not as
- 3:14flexible as the version 7, but overall,
- 3:16a decent running shoe on a budget.
- 3:21So, what are the advantages of the
- 3:22Galaxy 8? Well, for its price, it's got
- 3:25nice finishing, and it really looks
- 3:27good. Again, it is pretty cheap and also
- 3:29very good for all day wear. You know,
- 3:31it's one of those shoes that can easily
- 3:32transition from casual all day use to
- 3:34the track. And what are the drawbacks?
- 3:36Well, the major drawback for these shoes
- 3:38is the weight.
- 3:41>> [music]
- 3:42>> Overall, the Adidas Galaxy 8 offers a
- 3:44comfortable, stable, and moderately
- 3:46responsive ride. They are okay for short
- 3:48daily easy runs, walking, gym sessions,
- 3:51and casual all day use. At this price
- 3:53point, I think it gives a pretty decent
- 3:55value for money. And that's it for this
- 3:57one, guys. Thanks for watching. Don't
