  1. 0:03Here we have our restaurant's profile
  2. 0:05with its menu, booking system, and
  3. 0:07reviews, but what’s missing is the
  4. 0:08services tab, because a restaurant
  5. 0:10cannot have one. But if I come here and
  6. 0:13refresh the page, boom, there it is; we
  7. 0:16have the services, and we can start
  8. 0:18adding all the keywords we want. What
  9. 0:20you just saw is the same Google profile
  10. 0:22, specifically the profile for a
  11. 0:24restaurant. And according to Google,
  12. 0:26these types of profiles cannot have
  13. 0:28services. And it’s not that the
  14. 0:30section is empty; it simply doesn't
  15. 0:32exist. You go to edit your profile and
  16. 0:34you'll see that there's nothing there.
  17. 0:37And yet, as you just saw, the services
  18. 0:39tab is active and public on the profile
  19. 0:41without even changing the business
  20. 0:43category. This is very, very powerful
  21. 0:46because there are entire categories
  22. 0:48from which Google hides this tab.
  23. 0:51Restaurants, shops, hotels, shoe stores
  24. 0:54—all these businesses can't have it,
  25. 0:57and by hiding the tab, it's hiding the
  26. 1:00only place on the profile where you can
  27. 1:02declare everything you do one by one.
  28. 1:06And this isn't even the worst part. The
  29. 1:08worst part is that your competition, if
  30. 1:10they are in a different category, might
  31. 1:13actually have the services tab enabled;
  32. 1:15that is, they are competing for the
  33. 1:18same search as you but with more cards
  34. 1:20in their hand. I'm DĂaz Romero, a
  35. 1:23professor at Gin Yan Academy, the first
  36. 1:25local SEO academy in Spanish. In this
  37. 1:28video, I'm going to teach you three
  38. 1:29things. First, why the services tab
  39. 1:32weighs much more than it seems for
  40. 1:34ranking first on Google Maps. Second,
  41. 1:37how to activate it even if your
  42. 1:39category has it blocked, using a method
  43. 1:42I call the "master key" method. And
  44. 1:44third, what to write inside these
  45. 1:46services to make it truly useful,
  46. 1:48because if you’re going to activate
  47. 1:50it and leave it half-done, I can tell
  48. 1:52you it won't do you any good. As
  49. 1:54you’ve seen, we have a very complete
  50. 1:56menu, so let's get to it. The first
  51. 2:13thing to understand is how Google ranks
  52. 2:15local results, and it does so based on
  53. 2:17three things: relevance, distance, and
  54. 2:19prominence. Distance, obviously, you
  55. 2:22cannot change. Prominence, which is
  56. 2:25basically how well-known you are in
  57. 2:27your sector on Google, is built slowly
  58. 2:30and with a lot, a lot of work. But you
  59. 2:33can start working on relevance today.
  60. 2:36In case you don't know. Relevance is
  61. 2:38simply how well your profile matches
  62. 2:40what the person just typed into the
  63. 2:43search engine. And now, think about
  64. 2:45your profile for a moment. Where
  65. 2:46exactly do you tell Google everything
  66. 2:49you do? Because with the category,
  67. 2:51you'd only have one single label. The
  68. 2:53one for this business is a restaurant,
  69. 2:56a shoe store, a workshop. Then for the
  70. 2:59business name, you have another label,
  71. 3:01but that's it. Everything else, those
  72. 3:0420, 30, 40 specific jobs you do every
  73. 3:08week, is not declared anywhere. The
  74. 3:12services tab is the only place on the
  75. 3:14profile where you can list them one by
  76. 3:17one with their name and description. So
  77. 3:20, as you've seen, yes, it sounds great.
  78. 3:21But how much does this really weigh in
  79. 3:24the rankings? Well, in the latest local
  80. 3:27ranking factors study, the impact of
  81. 3:29optimized services is in 22nd place. In
  82. 3:33the study we conducted analyzing
  83. 3:35businesses in Spain, services made it
  84. 3:37into the top 10, specifically in ninth
  85. 3:39place. So, as you can see, it's not the
  86. 3:42most powerful factor. There are others
  87. 3:45that carry much more weight. For
  88. 3:47example, the primary category is the
  89. 3:49number one factor, then proximity is
  90. 3:52number two. So, why am I telling you
  91. 3:55that with this method you could get
  92. 3:58ahead of 99%of your competition? Well,
  93. 4:02for a very simple reason: because no
  94. 4:04one else in your sector is working on
  95. 4:06it. Everyone works on the factors
  96. 4:08mentioned above. Everyone sets their
  97. 4:11category correctly, everyone asks for
  98. 4:13reviews, and you can't change your
  99. 4:15distance. Services, on the other hand,
  100. 4:17are there, but they are empty in the
  101. 4:19vast majority of profiles in your city;
  102. 4:21no one is working on them. In our
  103. 4:23agency, we see it continuously with our
  104. 4:26clients. When you configure your
  105. 4:29services well, you notice the movement,
  106. 4:31and best of all, you notice it quickly.
  107. 4:33That is, sometimes in just a matter of
  108. 4:35two or three days. So, keep in mind
  109. 4:37that this won't directly help you rank
  110. 4:39in the number one spot. When your
  111. 4:42service matches what someone is
  112. 4:44searching for, Google can display text
  113. 4:46below the business name in the map
  114. 4:48results, which we call a justification,
  115. 4:51and it's like a label that says "
  116. 4:53provides" and the specific service. So,
  117. 4:57even if it's not helping you rank
  118. 4:59higher, consider what that means for
  119. 5:01the person searching, because you and
  120. 5:03your competitor will appear in that
  121. 5:05search result list, but you have an
  122. 5:07extra line on your business profile
  123. 5:09that answers exactly what that person
  124. 5:12was looking for. And that's not
  125. 5:15positioning; that's direct visits to
  126. 5:17your business. Let's go over the part
  127. 5:19that almost no one talks about. When
  128. 5:22you open your profile and can't find
  129. 5:24the service section, the first thing
  130. 5:27you think is that it's a bug, or maybe
  131. 5:29Google changed the panel design and hid
  132. 5:31it in another menu. But it's neither a
  133. 5:34bug nor a design change; it's a
  134. 5:36decision Google itself has made. Google
  135. 5:39has a field with a specific name. It is
  136. 5:42called exactly "CanModifyServices".
  137. 5:45Basically, it means "can modify the
  138. 5:48list of services." It's a switch. A yes
  139. 5:51. Or a no. If Google decides that your
  140. 5:53category doesn't offer services, that
  141. 5:55switch is automatically set to "no."
  142. 5:58And then it orders all interfaces,
  143. 6:00including your admin panel, to hide the
  144. 6:03editor and the services tab. That's why
  145. 6:06you can't find it. It's not that it's
  146. 6:08hidden; it's that it's turned off for
  147. 6:10you. And how does Google decide this?
  148. 6:13Well, with a logic that even from afar
  149. 6:15makes some sense: it gives you the box
  150. 6:18that fits what it thinks you are. If it
  151. 6:21thinks you're about dishes, it will
  152. 6:23give you a menu. If it thinks you're
  153. 6:25about products, it will give you a
  154. 6:26catalog. If it thinks you're about
  155. 6:28bookings, it gives you hotel services.
  156. 6:30And if it thinks you're about services,
  157. 6:33then yes. Then it gives you the service
  158. 6:36tab. The problem with this is when it
  159. 6:37misclassifies you. For example, a
  160. 6:40pottery workshop gives classes, does
  161. 6:42custom orders, organizes group
  162. 6:45workshops, repairs pieces—all those
  163. 6:47are services—but Google puts it in a
  164. 6:50"junk drawer" category for which it
  165. 6:53never built one. And this also applies
  166. 6:57to a local shoe repair shop that can
  167. 6:59fix your footwear, dye them, change
  168. 7:01zippers, make custom soles; all those
  169. 7:03are services. Google looks and decides
  170. 7:06otherwise. It only sells shoes.
  171. 7:09Therefore, I'll give you a product
  172. 7:11catalog and don't complain. And now
  173. 7:13comes the uncomfortable part: Google
  174. 7:15doesn't publish anywhere the list of
  175. 7:17which categories have services and
  176. 7:19which ones don't. And since that
  177. 7:21document doesn't exist, you can't audit
  178. 7:23it. Basically, you can't know if you're
  179. 7:26at a disadvantage until you're
  180. 7:27suffering from it on your own profile.
  181. 7:29And it's not a disadvantage against
  182. 7:31everyone. If your entire business
  183. 7:33category lacks that tab, then you are
  184. 7:36tied on equal terms. The real
  185. 7:39disadvantage appears when two
  186. 7:41businesses compete for the same search,
  187. 7:42but from different categories. These
  188. 7:45two categories are equally legitimate
  189. 7:47and equally correct, but one has
  190. 7:49services enabled and the other does not
  191. 7:51. That’s the symmetry, and until
  192. 7:53today, there was no way to fix it.
  193. 7:56Right, that’s the diagnosis, but
  194. 7:58watch out, because here is what most
  195. 8:01people don't know: that switch I
  196. 8:03mentioned doesn't control just one door
  197. 8:05, it controls two, and they aren't
  198. 8:07always synchronized. The first door is
  199. 8:10the one you already know, the one that
  200. 8:12hides the editor in your dashboard that
  201. 8:14accepts or rejects services for your
  202. 8:16category. The second door is a bit
  203. 8:18further back, and you don't go through
  204. 8:20that one. That’s the one used by
  205. 8:22tools that connect directly to Google
  206. 8:25Maps and write to your profile without
  207. 8:27going through the dashboard. And here
  208. 8:29is the most important part. When a
  209. 8:32service arrives that way, Google checks
  210. 8:34it again, and with a master key method,
  211. 8:37we are going to make that door open by
  212. 8:39itself. And no, this isn't magic or a
  213. 8:42trick; it's a way of taking advantage
  214. 8:44of the fact that these two doors don't
  215. 8:45open the same way. So, you've been
  216. 8:48waiting for this; I'm going to show it
  217. 8:50to you right now, live. To run this
  218. 8:52test, I’ve created this profile from
  219. 8:54scratch, okay? It has absolutely
  220. 8:55nothing, and as you can see, it belongs
  221. 8:58to the restaurant category, so it can't
  222. 9:00have services. What it does have is a
  223. 9:03menu, reservations, and then the
  224. 9:05typical stuff like photos, reviews, and
  225. 9:07so on, but no actual services. So, to
  226. 9:10force this, I can't do it directly from
  227. 9:12the profile. I have to go to Local
  228. 9:14Brain, and from there, we’ll create
  229. 9:17the service in just a few seconds. We
  230. 9:19go to the services tab. It will warn
  231. 9:22you that this category doesn't allow
  232. 9:24services directly, but we can enable
  233. 9:27them. To do this, we click here, and
  234. 9:29here we will see the first service for
  235. 9:31the restaurant category. Let’s give
  236. 9:34it an example name like group
  237. 9:37reservations. We can specify the price
  238. 9:39or leave it as is. And the description,
  239. 9:43which I’ll tell you something very
  240. 9:44important about later, can also be
  241. 9:46generated automatically with AI. And
  242. 9:49notice how we get a super precise and
  243. 9:51personalized description. In this case,
  244. 9:54it says, "We manage group reservations
  245. 9:55at restaurants.""Cortijo Bandido" is
  246. 9:57the name I gave it. In Mijas, the
  247. 9:59location, so you can enjoy typical
  248. 10:01Andalusian food without waiting. Ideal
  249. 10:03for family meals, celebrations, and
  250. 10:05gatherings. Look at that, it's a super
  251. 10:07powerful service that we wouldn't be
  252. 10:09able to add otherwise. Notice that,
  253. 10:12obviously, none will appear in Google's
  254. 10:14official list of services, because this
  255. 10:17category, in principle, cannot have
  256. 10:19them; but it does offer us custom
  257. 10:21services with which we can complement
  258. 10:23all the services we provide, and it
  259. 10:25often gives us ideas for services we
  260. 10:28hadn't even considered, but that our
  261. 10:30business is actually offering. Once you
  262. 10:33have added one—just adding one is
  263. 10:35enough—click save and publish. And
  264. 10:38with this, notice that it says the
  265. 10:39services have been saved and published
  266. 10:41on Google Business Profile. So let's
  267. 10:43see if it's true. For that, we come to
  268. 10:46the listing we have here. Let's refresh
  269. 10:49the page, and here is the services
  270. 10:52section with its tab, and the service
  271. 10:54we just created has suddenly appeared
  272. 10:57in a few seconds. It's simple, and this
  273. 11:01will now remain enabled forever on your
  274. 11:04listing. You've already seen the method
  275. 11:05that opens the door for you. Now let's
  276. 11:08see how to get the most out of what
  277. 11:10lies behind it, because activating the
  278. 11:13tab and adding three generic services
  279. 11:15won't do you any good at all. So let's
  280. 11:18take it step by step, because there are
  281. 11:20three levels here, and they go in this
  282. 11:22order; you can't mix them. Level one:
  283. 11:24predefined services. These are the
  284. 11:27services that Google offers you in a
  285. 11:29ready-made list based on your business
  286. 11:31category. And these are by far the ones
  287. 11:33that carry the most weight in the
  288. 11:35ranking. So activate them all—
  289. 11:37obviously, all the ones you actually
  290. 11:39offer in your business. Yes, it might
  291. 11:42seem a bit tedious, because if you
  292. 11:43manage one listing it's fine, but if
  293. 11:45you manage 20, it could take a whole
  294. 11:47afternoon, but that is precisely why it
  295. 11:49works, because most of your competitors
  296. 11:52won't dedicate this time to it. Then we
  297. 11:54have level two. Custom services: these
  298. 11:57are the ones you write in your own
  299. 11:59words for the things you do that don't
  300. 12:02appear in Google's list, right? These
  301. 12:05weigh less than the predefined ones,
  302. 12:07but they are the ones that can capture
  303. 12:09the searches that interest you most.
  304. 12:11They are specific searches, those that
  305. 12:13no one else in your sector is covering.
  306. 12:16And here, the name matters, a lot.
  307. 12:19Don't just put a service like "repairs"
  308. 12:22; use the specific task, the way your
  309. 12:24client would say it—that is, do a
  310. 12:26good keyword study. Then we reach level
  311. 12:29three: the descriptions. And I'm going
  312. 12:32to tell you something you won't hear
  313. 12:34elsewhere. As of today, there is no
  314. 12:36clear evidence that a service
  315. 12:38description on its own helps you climb
  316. 12:40in the rankings. And so you might be
  317. 12:42asking yourself, "Okay, if it doesn't
  318. 12:44work to improve my ranking, why are you
  319. 12:46telling me to write descriptions?" Well
  320. 12:48, for three reasons, and none of them
  321. 12:49have to do with ranking. Reason number
  322. 12:51one: the justifications I mentioned
  323. 12:54before. It is the "offers" tag plus the
  324. 12:57specific service that appears below
  325. 12:58your name on the map. That comes from
  326. 13:02your service text, so it's a great
  327. 13:04opportunity to get customers who are
  328. 13:06looking for that specific service
  329. 13:08because it will be a 100%match for the
  330. 13:10search they're performing. Reason two,
  331. 13:13and this is the one that will really
  332. 13:15matter in a very short time, because if
  333. 13:18you don't know, Google is putting
  334. 13:20artificial intelligence into Maps. The
  335. 13:24specific feature is called Ask Maps,
  336. 13:26and instead of giving you a list of 10
  337. 13:29results, it will interpret exactly what
  338. 13:31you're asking and recommend a few
  339. 13:33businesses. It is still being rolled
  340. 13:37out gradually, so you may not have seen
  341. 13:39it in your Google Maps app yet, but
  342. 13:41rest assured it will be a core part of
  343. 13:43Google Maps very soon. And pay close
  344. 13:45attention to all of this because the
  345. 13:47truth is that it changes everything.
  346. 13:49When someone asks using a long sentence
  347. 13:51with three or four conditions at once,
  348. 13:53the artificial intelligence isn't even
  349. 13:55going to sort a list, it's going to go.
  350. 13:59And in order to choose you, it has to
  351. 14:01find somewhere in your profile that you
  352. 14:04do exactly what the user is asking
  353. 14:07about so specifically. So the game will
  354. 14:11no longer be about being in the Local
  355. 14:13Pack, in that top three of best results
  356. 14:15; it will be about being in the answer
  357. 14:18that Google's AI gives to the user. And
  358. 14:22if your profile is empty, it won't have
  359. 14:23anywhere to say what you actually do to
  360. 14:25extract that information. Reason three,
  361. 14:28and the most obvious one: the customer
  362. 14:30reads it. A description that explains
  363. 14:32what the service includes, who it's for
  364. 14:34, and how it differs converts better
  365. 14:37than a random title that explains
  366. 14:38nothing. However, be very careful how
  367. 14:41you write it, because this leads
  368. 14:44directly to the most frequent errors I
  369. 14:46see. And these errors that I see
  370. 14:49repeated very often are basically two
  371. 14:51that are very simple, yet people fall
  372. 14:53for them again and again. Mistake
  373. 14:55number one is stuffing your
  374. 14:57descriptions with exact keywords; that
  375. 15:00is, repeating the same service with six
  376. 15:03location variants or inserting a list
  377. 15:05of neighborhoods and towns in every
  378. 15:08address. Google moderates this and can
  379. 15:10take down your descriptions, and if you
  380. 15:13insist on adding them, you could face
  381. 15:15more serious issues that affect your
  382. 15:17entire profile. So, write normal
  383. 15:20sentences that explain your work. That
  384. 15:22works better and doesn't expose you to
  385. 15:24a possible suspension. Mistake number
  386. 15:26two is creating services that your
  387. 15:28business doesn't provide. And yes, I
  388. 15:31know it's tempting; your competition
  389. 15:32ranks for something and you say, "Come
  390. 15:34on, I'll add it to the list even if I'm
  391. 15:35not offering it." But your profile is a
  392. 15:38document that speaks about your
  393. 15:40business. If it says you do something
  394. 15:42you don't, you might get a customer who
  395. 15:44wants to order it and you won't be able
  396. 15:47to serve that customer. And worst of
  397. 15:49all, if that customer gets angry,
  398. 15:51they're going to leave you a review,
  399. 15:52and it won't be positive. Now, if you
  400. 15:55manage a profile without services,
  401. 15:57congratulations, you already know the
  402. 16:00master key method and how to get the
  403. 16:02most out of it by activating a feature
  404. 16:04that 99%of your competitors don't have.
  405. 16:08And if you want to get even more out of
  406. 16:10it, pay attention, because next
  407. 16:13Thursday, August 13th, we are launching
  408. 16:15version 1.0 of Local Brain with new,
  409. 16:18unique, and exclusive features like the
  410. 16:20master key method to force services.
  411. 16:25Take advantage of the launch with up to
  412. 16:27a 40%discount and a lifetime plan that
  413. 16:29will never be repeated. If you want to
