10. 0:23boxing instructor if you don't believe
11. 0:26me if you want to look at my hands you
12. 0:30will see the hands of a boxing coach
13. 0:33they don't this is as straight as I can
14. 0:36get my fingers I taught Jimmy Kimmel how
15. 0:41to box for a radio boxing stunt and
16. 0:45Jimmy got me into radio and the next
17. 0:48thing you know Bob's your uncle when I
18. 0:50started off in radio we would get
19. 0:54complaints complaints about words or
20. 0:57phrases or crossing the line IDE is we
21. 1:01would offend people if somebody
22. 1:02complained about something you said they
23. 1:05were always from the religious right
24. 1:08that wrote a letter to your program
25. 1:11director saying you need to be cancelled
26. 1:13now that sounds quaint and comical now
27. 1:16right we all know that if your program
28. 1:19director got a letter from some group
29. 1:23who wanted to pull you off the air they
30. 1:25would be atheists and from the left so
31. 1:29and by the way
32. 1:30nobody complained more about the
33. 1:34religious right-wing people than the
34. 1:37progressive left-wing people like oh
35. 1:39those do gooders leave us alone let us
36. 1:42express ourselves creatively if you
37. 1:44don't like it don't listen you're going
38. 1:46to let a couple of nut jobs pull you off
39. 1:49the air now the same people that never
40. 1:50stop complaining about that are getting
41. 1:52everyone pulled off the air so
42. 1:55progressives are doing to entertainment
43. 1:58what they're doing to Corporate America
44. 1:59America or big Tech they're now doing 10
45. 2:04times what the government used to do in
46. 2:07terms of sensoring your speech they say
47. 2:09they don't want to control the content
48. 2:11but their version of we don't want to
49. 2:13control the content we just want to know
50. 2:15what you're saying and then decide
51. 2:17whether you get to keep your job or not
52. 2:18because what you're saying could be
53. 2:20dangerous because it's going to get
54. 2:23people to do things that we don't like
55. 2:26it's sort of like yeah I'm for free
56. 2:28speech I just have to hear it first and
57. 2:30then vet it and then okay it and then we
58. 2:32can have free speech these were the same
59. 2:34people that 10 minutes ago that were
60. 2:37laughing at people that said these
61. 2:39lyrics and these satanic rock songs are
62. 2:42getting teenagers to act out or these
63. 2:45video games these violent video they'd
64. 2:47laugh at those people that's not getting
65. 2:49anyone to do anything grow up people
66. 2:51have their own will well now those same
67. 2:53people are saying if you tweet something
68. 2:56it's dangerous and it's going to get
69. 2:58people to react cancel culture and PC
70. 3:01culture yeah heard comedy anytime a
71. 3:04comedian has to think how is this going
72. 3:07to sound or who's going to hear this or
73. 3:09how's this going to affect my career you
74. 3:12have affected a performance and you have
75. 3:16governed a thought think about any poem
76. 3:19or any music if the person that was
77. 3:22creating it was thinking about who they
78. 3:24may offend now imagine Magic Johnson
79. 3:29running down the court and he's got all
80. 3:31these voices in his head you can't do
81. 3:34this you're going to offend the people
82. 3:36in the first row if you do that what
83. 3:38kind of performance would we get out of
84. 3:40Magic Johnson it's stifling it is going
85. 3:43to hurt the product if you think about
86. 3:46comedy traditionally it's it has to be
87. 3:49the freest expression of the individual
88. 3:52and there were sort of courageous enough
89. 3:54to speak you know and we used to applaud
90. 3:58that now I've had comedians tell me I
91. 4:01love that joke or that thing you do on
92. 4:04this that it's like it's too bad you
93. 4:06can't do it that's insane so I love this
94. 4:09thing it's really funny but we're not
95. 4:11going to say it the progressives claim
96. 4:13to be tolerant and free to be you and me
97. 4:16but they are not people apologize
98. 4:19because they're working under an old
99. 4:23model with an old regime go back 20
100. 4:26years they would say get in front of it
101. 4:29go out
102. 4:30apologize then once you apologize you
103. 4:33take a little slap on the hand you know
104. 4:352 days suspension or something like that
105. 4:37and then we get on with our lives
106. 4:38someone's offended we don't we don't
107. 4:40know why just apologize we'll get this
108. 4:42thing over with the new model is you can
109. 4:46apologize all you want we want your head
110. 4:48we want you fire so it would be like you
111. 4:51saying to your wife hey I want to
112. 4:54apologize hun about what I said about
113. 4:55the lasan and she'd go fine we're still
114. 4:57getting divorced and go but I said I was
115. 5:00sorry yeah I know but that now I see
116. 5:03that as a sign of weakness and I really
117. 5:06want a divorce like tomorrow the new
118. 5:08world orders you can't apologize so you
119. 5:11graveling and summoning up this fake
120. 5:14apology and getting SC can from your job
121. 5:18that's that's lose lose if you're going
122. 5:20to get fired at least keep your head up
123. 5:22it's like you're putting a saucer of
124. 5:24milk out because you're trying to be
125. 5:26friends with the feral cat but all you
126. 5:29get is more or feral cats and you go
127. 5:31what I feel bad for the cat I know but
128. 5:33you can't put the saucer or milk out the
129. 5:35apology is the saucer or milk no one
130. 5:37asked Charles Barkley to apologize no
131. 5:40one asked Adam Corolla to apologize no
132. 5:42one asked me to apologize I say horrible
133. 5:43things all day usually when the camera
134. 5:47stop but I got you in my sights I know
135. 5:50many people on the right many people on
136. 5:52the left nobody I know on the right's
137. 5:54ever called for anyone on the left to be
138. 5:55silenced or deplatformed or shut down
139. 5:58people say to me
140. 6:00oh you're always on Fox you know trying
141. 6:02to make a buck if you go on Tucker
142. 6:04Carlson you're not allowed to go on the
143. 6:07CNN Fox doesn't care if you go on CNN
144. 6:11and then go on Tucker Carlson but CNN
145. 6:14cares because you're tainted and so what
146. 6:16ends up happening is they go oh you're
147. 6:18just some right-wing guy who's going on
148. 6:20all these Fox shows the only reason I'm
149. 6:23on Fox shows is because I have a booked
150. 6:25remote or podcast remote or standup
151. 6:28dates or something and no longer welcome
152. 6:31on CNN or MSNBC or huffpo or whatever
153. 6:34they will not talk to you the super
154. 6:37Progressive inclusive people the
155. 6:40open-minded people they will not let you
156. 6:44back on their show I mean it happens to
157. 6:47moderate people it's happened to Mark
158. 6:49gagos it's happened to Dr Drew you'll
159. 6:52never see him on any of those shows
160. 6:53anymore you end up just going on Fox
161. 6:56shows or conservative radio shows
162. 6:59because other ones won't have you as
163. 7:02much cancel culture as there is and as
164. 7:04much oppression as there is and
165. 7:06censorship there's still room for really
166. 7:09creative really interesting really
167. 7:11intriguing people it's not going to work
168. 7:13if you try to figure out what people
169. 7:15want to hear and then tell it to them it
170. 7:17it's you're going to be some watered
171. 7:19down beige oatmealy mess of a comedian
172. 7:24or actor or writer I don't think of
173. 7:27myself as Brave I I have ideas and I
174. 7:30share those ideas that's my job and if I
175. 7:36stop doing that I start censoring myself
176. 7:39and I start thinking oh how's that going
177. 7:40to make people feel or how's this going
178. 7:41to be interpreted or how's it going to
179. 7:43be construed or misinterpreted or I know
180. 7:45someone's going to take this and turn
181. 7:47into some headline on huffpo the second
182. 7:50I do that it it means it's time to get
183. 7:52back into carpentry cuz I'm in the wrong
184. 7:55profession so I'm a comedian I say what
185. 7:57I want that's how it works
