- 0:00Hi, I'm Julie from Eight Books and today
- 0:02I'd like to talk to you about A Drift 76
- 0:05Days Lost at Sea by Steven Callahan.
- 0:08This is an incredible, unbelievable
- 0:11story about Callahan's sailing adventure
- 0:14which goes ary. He starts in the Canary
- 0:18Islands and his destination is the
- 0:19Caribbean, but six days into his
- 0:22journey, his boat sinks. He encountered
- 0:25a massive storm and he's unable to save
- 0:28his boat. But luckily he's able to
- 0:30escape and jumps into his life raft
- 0:33which was only five and a half feet
- 0:35long. He had four pounds of food with
- 0:38him and only eight pints of water. As
- 0:42the title indicates, he was a drift for
- 0:4576 days. He was starving. He was burnt
- 0:50to a crisp, desperately thirsty. uh
- 0:53lived off of the fish he was able to
- 0:56catch with his spear and even caught
- 0:58seabirds, which I can't even imagine
- 1:00having to deal with, but he did. It's an
- 1:04incredible story. I highly recommend it
- 1:08if you like adventure,
- 1:11uh nautical tales, and it's just an
- 1:15amazing story. He survives, and it's
- 1:17incredible to read about his journey and
- 1:20his will for survival.
