  1. 0:00After Abdul El-Sayed's Michigan Senate
  2. 0:02victory, he's already showing some red
  3. 0:04flags including some unnecessary
  4. 0:06aggression toward a Sky News journalist.
  5. 0:08What's my take on it? Let's talk about
  6. 0:10it.
  7. 0:12>> [music]
  8. 0:13>> How's [clears throat] everybody doing?
  9. 0:14My name is Anthony Brian Logan and today
  10. 0:16we're going to talk about the brand new
  11. 0:17Democratic senator from Michigan, Abdul
  12. 0:20El-Sayed. Already showing some red flags
  13. 0:22in his character and this now viral
  14. 0:24video between him and a Sky News
  15. 0:27journalist. I guess the journalist was
  16. 0:29asking too many questions, maybe
  17. 0:31questions he didn't like and that caused
  18. 0:33Abdul to go all the way off. It was
  19. 0:36nuts. I have never seen anything quite
  20. 0:38like it. I've seen politicians
  21. 0:40journalists get into a little bit of
  22. 0:42back and forth. Of course we see Trump
  23. 0:44all the time talking about, "Hey, that
  24. 0:45question is terrible. Fake news CNN."
  25. 0:48You hear things like that. But this goes
  26. 0:51to the next level. It's one thing to
  27. 0:53talk to somebody, right? Just
  28. 0:54communicating, "I don't like that
  29. 0:56question. I'm not answering that. That
  30. 0:58question sucks." That's totally fine.
  31. 1:00Everybody got freedom of speech. But
  32. 1:02when you get to touching and all that
  33. 1:03kind of stuff is like, "Whoa, whoa, wait
  34. 1:05a minute now. Hold on. Just one doggone
  35. 1:07minute. Okay, I'm just asking you
  36. 1:08questions. I'm not trying to be doing no
  37. 1:10wrestling, no chroma gra, no jujitsu,
  38. 1:13kung fu, nothing like that. I'm a
  39. 1:14journalist and that's it." But
  40. 1:17Abdul El-Sayed, aka Abdul Rahman Mohamed
  41. 1:19El-Sayed. We'll talk about the name in a
  42. 1:21little bit. He appears to think that
  43. 1:23it's okay to just put your hands on
  44. 1:25people if you don't like what's being
  45. 1:27asked. If you feel like you're being
  46. 1:28harassed by a journalist, you can just
  47. 1:30touch them and all that kind of stuff.
  48. 1:32I don't think that's okay. And before I
  49. 1:34go any further, let's get straight to
  50. 1:36the clip. Of course, I will link to the
  51. 1:38clip and everything else in the box if
  52. 1:41you want to see and hear it without my
  53. 1:42commentary. If you are not G Facebook,
  54. 1:45etc., visit the link in the bio, go to
  55. 1:47the corresponding article on the
  56. 1:48website. But without further ado, let's
  57. 1:50go ahead and roll it.
  58. 1:51>> Are you registered to vote? Are you
  59. 1:52registered to vote in the state of
  60. 1:53Michigan?
  61. 1:54>> I'm registered to vote. I'm I'm I'm
  62. 1:55>> So why would I care to have a
  63. 1:56conversation with you? This isn't going
  64. 1:58to me. Why would I care to have a
  65. 1:59conversation with you?
  66. 2:00>> I'm a journalist. I'm a
  67. 2:01>> the UK. You know how many votes I want
  68. 2:02to get in the UK?
  69. 2:03>> This This election
  70. 2:04>> Zero. I am never running for office in
  71. 2:05the
  72. 2:06>> But this election matters. This election
  73. 2:07matters to the world.
  74. 2:09>> you think or the questions you ask cuz
  75. 2:10you're literally you're bidding to be a
  76. 2:12senator
  77. 2:12>> You're a senator in where? What country?
  78. 2:14>> I I in the United States. The leader The
  79. 2:16leader The leader of the free world.
  80. 2:18>> What country are you in?
  81. 2:18>> I I'm based in the United States. You
  82. 2:20know, I report
  83. 2:21>> But you report for where? Where are your
  84. 2:23viewers? Where are your viewers?
  85. 2:24>> They're international. They are
  86. 2:25international.
  87. 2:26>> Sky News is not is not viewed in the
  88. 2:27United States of America. It's only
  89. 2:29viewed in the UK.
  90. 2:30>> Like five people watch Sky News in the
  91. 2:31United States.
  92. 2:32>> So I'm just going to tell you
  93. 2:33>> I feel it's your election not relevant.
  94. 2:35It's not relevant to the UK.
  95. 2:36>> I've answered all the questions.
  96. 2:37>> Is your election not relevant to the
  97. 2:38rest of the world?
  98. 2:40Is it not relevant to the rest of the
  99. 2:41world?
  100. 2:41>> Please stop chasing me around. Please.
  101. 2:42>> I thought I'm not chasing you around.
  102. 2:44I'm asking you questions. It's been a
  103. 2:45>> Let's Let's pause before he gets into
  104. 2:47his reaction. Um number one
  105. 2:51I am watching Sky News right now,
  106. 2:53obviously, and you guys are as well. And
  107. 2:55before this whole curfuffle, I've
  108. 2:56watched Sky News quite a
  109. 2:58They are a pretty respected news
  110. 3:00organization. I don't know why he would
  111. 3:02react like that, but I don't want to
  112. 3:04talk too much right now. I'm going to
  113. 3:06let the journalist talk a little bit
  114. 3:07here.
  115. 3:08>> questions. It's been a stressful
  116. 3:10political contest here in Michigan.
  117. 3:13Abdul El-Sayed, if he gets to Capitol
  118. 3:15Hill, he wants to serve on the Foreign
  119. 3:18Affairs Committee.
  120. 3:19>> Oh boy.
  121. 3:19>> His responsibilities as a senator will
  122. 3:21extend far beyond the borders of the
  123. 3:24United States. There are consequences
  124. 3:26for the rest of the world in terms of
  125. 3:29what happens here, who gets elected, and
  126. 3:32who has power. It won't be the last time
  127. 3:35that Abdul El-Sayed, should he be
  128. 3:37elected, is asked questions by
  129. 3:39international media.
  130. 3:41>> Of course. I mean, obviously. Now,
  131. 3:43there's a lot I want to say about that,
  132. 3:44but let's go back.
  133. 3:45Let's go back. Okay.
  134. 3:47The The touching is too much. You have
  135. 3:50the right to not like a journalist. You
  136. 3:54think they're harassing you or whatever.
  137. 3:55That's totally fine. But don't put your
  138. 3:57hands on people. I don't know what's up
  139. 3:58with that lately. That seems to be a
  140. 3:59thing. People just think it's okay to
  141. 4:01put your hands on people. do that. I
  142. 4:03know you guys are a smart audience who
  143. 4:05are watching this video, so you guys
  144. 4:06already know I'm preaching to the choir.
  145. 4:08But for those who may not know, for
  146. 4:10those may not understand, do not, I
  147. 4:12repeat, do not put your hands on people.
  148. 4:15You can express yourself without all
  149. 4:17that touchy-feely. Because everybody
  150. 4:19doesn't like that. I don't like that. I
  151. 4:21don't do that to anybody, and I don't
  152. 4:23want it done to me. And if you have your
  153. 4:25hands up and you're aggressive, I think
  154. 4:27you're about to fight. And I don't want
  155. 4:29no fight. I don't want no smoke. I don't
  156. 4:31want no problems, and I definitely don't
  157. 4:32want my senator here to go full Alotta
  158. 4:35what? Bro, tap me. I don't want that to
  159. 4:38happen, okay? That's just not really a
  160. 4:40good look. Now, I'm not in Michigan. I'm
  161. 4:42not a Michigander. Shout out to you guys
  162. 4:44who were there. I'm praying for you guys
  163. 4:46dealing with this guy for 6 years.
  164. 4:48But he still a US senator, and what
  165. 4:50journalists said is correct. What he
  166. 4:52does or does not do can affect not only
  167. 4:55his state in Michigan, but also the
  168. 4:59country, the US, and the entire world.
  169. 5:01Furthermore, do you know how many
  170. 5:03Muslims there are in the United Kingdom
  171. 5:05and in Europe? You are a big deal over
  172. 5:08there to them, maybe even more than you
  173. 5:11are in your own home state in Michigan.
  174. 5:14Because you are one of them.
  175. 5:19You're just not over there, you're over
  176. 5:20here, but it's all the same.
  177. 5:23Think about if a Nigerian became
  178. 5:25president, a Nigerian-American.
  179. 5:27Okay, Adebayo Ogunleye, born to Nigerian
  180. 5:30parents in Brooklyn, New York. He grows
  181. 5:32up and becomes the president. Every
  182. 5:34single Nigerian blogger, news outlet,
  183. 5:37every Nigerian uncle, auntie, everybody
  184. 5:40is going to be on you 24/7 in the USA,
  185. 5:43abroad, everywhere else. What are they
  186. 5:45going to say? Oh, my son, he has
  187. 5:47transcended to the highest of heights.
  188. 5:49He has become the president-o. He uh God
  189. 5:51God is shining on us. He's going to give
  190. 5:54Naija favor. That's what it's going to
  191. 5:55be. And you got to be able to accept
  192. 5:57that if you're in that high of a
  193. 5:58position. Now, Abdul Rahman Muhammad El
  194. 6:01Sayed. Some may say that I'm racist for
  195. 6:04calling his name like that,
  196. 6:07but he calls his name like that.
  197. 6:09He may have kind of Anglicized it during
  198. 6:12the campaign.
  199. 6:13Yeah, I'm Abdul. My name is Abdul. But
  200. 6:16nah, let's hear his real name right now
  201. 6:19as he gives his acceptance speech after
  202. 6:22he won because that clip right there was
  203. 6:24on election day. He hadn't won yet,
  204. 6:26which is crazy. You going to do all that
  205. 6:27on election day? Anyway,
  206. 6:29hey, wait till you get in office and put
  207. 6:30the vest on and go kaboom. But anyway,
  208. 6:32let's let's watch this.
  209. 6:36>> [cheering]
  210. 6:39>> My name
  211. 6:42is Abdulrahman Mohamed El Sayed.
  212. 6:45>> [cheering]
  213. 6:47>> And the crowd goes wild. They love it.
  214. 6:51>> [cheering]
  215. 6:52>> And I am so proud and honored
  216. 6:56to stand here as your senator-elect from
  217. 6:58the great state of Michigan.
  218. 7:03>> [cheering]
  219. 7:05>> Up until right about now, you might have
  220. 7:07noticed I always say "Inshallah" or "God
  221. 7:10willing"
  222. 7:11whenever the outcome of this race was
  223. 7:13mentioned.
  224. 7:14But today, tonight, we can turn that
  225. 7:17Inshallah into a Alhamdulillah.
  226. 7:21>> [cheering]
  227. 7:22[applause]
  228. 7:26[cheering]
  229. 7:30>> I'm not I'm not pleased. I don't like
  230. 7:32it. You know, all I can think is terror
  231. 7:34attack. That's all I can think. And
  232. 7:35shout out if you if you Muslim and you
  233. 7:37watching, shout out to you, but I'm
  234. 7:38saying
  235. 7:39I'm I'm not a fan. I'm a millennial. I
  236. 7:41was in high school when 9/11 happened.
  237. 7:43This gives me flashbacks.
  238. 7:45Okay. Now, let's go
  239. 7:48to Dearborn, aka Dearbornistan,
  240. 7:51Michigan.
  241. 7:53This is probably well, I know it's a big
  242. 7:56reason why
  243. 7:57he succeeded in the race. Hey,
  244. 8:00in Dearborn, what do you think
  245. 8:03in Dearborn, what do you think the the
  246. 8:06was for Abdul?
  247. 8:08How much of the vote here in this place
  248. 8:10in the United States do you think that
  249. 8:11he got?
  250. 8:17I'm going to I'm going to turn that on
  251. 8:18down. You just hear the Islamic music
  252. 8:20going on, but quite a few flags.
  253. 8:22I'm seeing some, you know, Islamic
  254. 8:24slogans, all kind of stuff.
  255. 8:27A lot of stuff. This is Dearborn,
  256. 8:29Michigan. This is not Saudi, Syria,
  257. 8:34Pakistan, Afghanistan. This is
  258. 8:38Dearborn, Michigan, U.S.A.
  259. 8:41And as I said before,
  260. 8:43when you get a lot of Muslims in one
  261. 8:45area,
  262. 8:47like a high percentage,
  263. 8:49same thing with Somalis and other people
  264. 8:51groups, they don't assimilate. They just
  265. 8:53keep doing their own thing.
  266. 8:55Some of the Indians as well. Shout out
  267. 8:56to the Indians, but sometimes when you
  268. 8:58get them all in one big space like that,
  269. 9:00they just continue their own customs
  270. 9:02that they had in their country of
  271. 9:03origin. They create an enclave,
  272. 9:06a piece of their country that's not in
  273. 9:08their country, surrounded by a different
  274. 9:10country. You have a Somali enclave in
  275. 9:12Minnesota, Ohio, Maine. You have
  276. 9:16Arab Muslim enclaves Dearborn, other
  277. 9:19parts of the country. That's what this
  278. 9:20is.
  279. 9:21And
  280. 9:23Abdulrahman Mohamed as I said,
  281. 9:25represents that.
  282. 9:28So, hey man, I'm praying for y'all in
  283. 9:29Michigan. It's going to be a six years,
  284. 9:32barring any unforeseen circumstance, you
  285. 9:34got him for six years. That's how long a
  286. 9:36Senate term is. And he's one of 100
  287. 9:38senators in the nation. He can determine
  288. 9:41your life in a particular way
  289. 9:44from that position. I don't feel
  290. 9:46comfortable having him there, and he
  291. 9:48almost didn't win. They had to roll out
  292. 9:50the big guns. Dearbornistan wasn't going
  293. 9:52to be enough. They had to roll out, when
  294. 9:54I say they, I mean the Democratic Party,
  295. 9:56Barack Obama,
  296. 9:57all these people because
  297. 9:59the black population there was a little
  298. 10:02bit skeptical, including a city council
  299. 10:04member.
  300. 10:05>> He has a big picture ideas, you you
  301. 10:08Medicare for all, but guess what?
  302. 10:11Um that idea has been floating around
  303. 10:13for so long. I don't want people to be
  304. 10:15misled
  305. 10:16>> Right.
  306. 10:16>> that if you you know, all of a sudden if
  307. 10:19you send me to the US Senate, you're
  308. 10:21going to have Medicare for all,
  309. 10:22everybody's going to have free health
  310. 10:23care. Well, somebody has to pay for it.
  311. 10:25It's going to be a very difficult long
  312. 10:28drawn out process
  313. 10:30to get that done. But, meanwhile, we
  314. 10:32have literacy issues here in the city of
  315. 10:34Detroit.
  316. 10:34>> Yes.
  317. 10:35>> We have housing uh issues here. Those
  318. 10:38are the kinds of things that we want
  319. 10:40people to be able to work on
  320. 10:42immediately. And that's those are the
  321. 10:44kinds of things that Mike Rogers said he
  322. 10:47would do. Uh when we met.
  323. 10:50>> All right, there we go. So, this was
  324. 10:51Mary Waters,
  325. 10:53Detroit City Council Member at Large,
  326. 10:55talking about she's not really buying
  327. 10:57what El Sayed is selling, all these
  328. 10:59lofty Democrat ideas that everybody know
  329. 11:02not really going to happen. Even if it
  330. 11:03did happen, it'd come at a really
  331. 11:06lofty expense. But, as I close, I want
  332. 11:08to say this. Shout out to you guys in
  333. 11:10Michigan. Hopefully, you're able to deal
  334. 11:12with El Sayed and it's not too much of a
  335. 11:15distraction from what you're trying to
  336. 11:16get done and it's not going to be a
  337. 11:18hindrance to you guys living your lives
  338. 11:20in the best way possible. But, hey, I
  339. 11:22don't know. I mean, that that whole
  340. 11:24thing that acceptance speech and then
  341. 11:26you already look that thing with the
  342. 11:28journalist, he hadn't even won the race.
  343. 11:30You just out on the campaign trail
  344. 11:32already tripping. Taking time bomb type
  345. 11:34situation. You don't want a guy like
  346. 11:36that
  347. 11:37in such an important office again.
  348. 11:40You're in the US Senate, going to DC,
  349. 11:42one of 100 people in the country with
  350. 11:44the same kind of job.
  351. 11:46Only two per state. You're one of two in
  352. 11:48your state. Really important job. Really
  353. 11:50serious. Don't mess it up.
  354. 11:53But, I think I'll leave that right there
  355. 11:54for now. And what say you? What's your
  356. 11:57opinion about Abdul El Sayed winning the
  357. 12:00race out there in Michigan? How about
  358. 12:01that interaction between him and the
  359. 12:03journalist? How about the city council
  360. 12:05member and what she said? Whatever your
  361. 12:06thoughts are, let me know in the
  362. 12:07comments below. You guys know where I'm
  363. 12:09at. He's most certainly going to be an
  364. 12:11issue, going to be a problem. I'm
  365. 12:13already seeing anger issues. I don't
  366. 12:15want that to transform into something
  367. 12:18else. I don't want that anger to
  368. 12:20manifest itself in a different way. We
  369. 12:22don't want to see no physical incidents
  370. 12:23at Capitol Hill. We don't want to have
  371. 12:25no law bar type activity just happen to
  372. 12:28happen from him. That's all I'm saying.
  373. 12:31Hopefully he does a good job. You know,
  374. 12:33he could. I mean, obviously, he's a
  375. 12:34pretty smart guy. He's a physician, but
  376. 12:37all the extracurriculars and, you know,
