- 0:24Knock it off.
- 0:25I'm not done, so close your mouth.
- 0:27I did not say that.
- 0:28Go back and watch that clip.
- 0:29Cuckoo.
- 0:30I just hope I can survive.
- 0:32THEME SONG: Living on the dance floor.
- 0:34Hi, everybody, and welcome to "Dance Moms, the Reunion."
- 0:38I'm Jeff Collins, the executive producer of the show.
- 0:41Joining me is the woman at the center of it
- 0:43all, the owner of the renowned Abby Lee Dance Company, Abby
- 0:48Lee Miller.
- 0:49How are you? - Good.
- 0:50It's great to see you.
- 0:51I'm so nervous.
- 0:53I feel like I should call you Miss Abby, like the kids.
- 0:54Well, you can.
- 0:56Also joining us, the always opinionated, always
- 0:59fabulous Dance Moms.
- 1:00Welcome, Melissa Gisoni, Dr. Holly Frazier, Christi
- 1:05Lukasiak, and Kelly Hyland.
- 1:07How are you ladies?
- 1:09ALL: Great. - It's good to have you here.
- 1:10Thanks, Jeff.
- 1:11Thanks for having us.
- 1:12One of the things that you say a lot
- 1:14is that everybody's replaceable.
- 1:16But one thing that we know is that there's only one Abby Lee
- 1:20Miller.
- 1:21Take a look at this.
- 1:23WOMAN: Everybody is replaceable.
- 1:24We all know everyone is replaceable.
- 1:25Everyone's replaceable.
- 1:27I have the success rate I have with producing
- 1:31professional dancers because of the delivery.
- 1:34This is my domain.
- 1:36I'm the principal here.
- 1:36It's my [inaudible].
- 1:38What you fail to realize, Abby--
- 1:39I don't fail to realize anything.
- 1:40--is that you don't control me.
- 1:41I will not be bossed around in my own studio.
- 1:43She has a deep voice that you will be very afraid of.
- 1:47Who's afraid of it, you?
- 1:49Well, no.
- 1:50I'm a little afraid of it.
- 1:52Listen to me.
- 1:53I don't want to look at the sad, horrible kid all day, yes?
- 1:55So put a smile on your face.
- 1:56Walk, walk, walk.
- 1:58Woo-hoo!
- 1:59Smaller steps.
- 2:00Wow!
- 2:01One, two, three.
- 2:01Woo-hoo.
- 2:03You're not throwing her out.
- 2:04Oh, yes, I am.
- 2:05And you with her.
- 2:06Every week we put the trash out.
- 2:07Go.
- 2:09Then take yourself out, because you're the biggest
- 2:12piece of trash there is.
- 2:13What do you think the spoon is for?
- 2:15ALL: Ice cream.
- 2:16Are we right?
- 2:18Yes, we're right.
- 2:19We're having a treat.
- 2:20Yes!
- 2:20A treat.
- 2:21Cheers.
- 2:22I stand on my credentials and my knowledge.
- 2:24That's fine.
- 2:25That's something you can never take away.
- 2:27Then fix this hair, because it's horrible.
- 2:30[cheering]
- 2:34No one's gonna hug me?
- 2:35Yay!
- 2:36Woo!
- 2:37We won first place with our group number.
- 2:39Yeah!
- 2:39Oh, yeah!
- 2:41I'm proud of the kids.
- 2:42They did what they needed to do.
- 2:43And moms, you chased away Cathy.
- 2:45You chased away Jill.
- 2:48And now you're after Leslie.
- 2:49When you start messing with my livelihood,
- 2:52that's when the curtain closes.
- 2:53And I'll start messing with your kid.
- 2:55Learn that.
- 2:59So listen, let's get right to it.
- 3:01Abby's way of talking to students, some people say,
- 3:04is a little harsh.
- 3:05Christi, what do you think?
- 3:07Oh, god.
- 3:08Yes, absolutely.
- 3:09I worked with children for eight years
- 3:11before I became a full-time dance mom.
- 3:15And if I had talked to students that way,
- 3:16I would have never had a business.
- 3:18But it's not always with everyone.
- 3:19You know, she talks to certain kids a certain way,
- 3:21and she talks to others another way.
- 3:23So--
- 3:24Well, what do you say about that, Holly?
- 3:25As an educator for 20 years, we
- 3:26see a variety of teaching styles and methods.
- 3:28And what I like about Abby is she's
- 3:30very direct about certain aspects of students' dancing
- 3:34that she finds difficult. So I think the message is often
- 3:38on target.
- 3:39I think her delivery is sometimes off base.
- 3:41So Melissa, Abby a good teacher or not?
- 3:44I think Abby is a fabulous teacher.
- 3:45She's been teaching my little Mackenzie since she's
- 3:47three years old, and Mackenzie has really
- 3:50blossomed over the last year.
- 3:51And it's all because of Abby.
- 3:53So you say that dance moms over the years have changed.
- 3:56What's the difference between what dance moms used to be
- 3:57like compared to these ladies?
- 4:00Many years ago, you had people that couldn't leave their jobs.
- 4:03They weren't stay-at-home moms.
- 4:05Most of my clientele now live a more privileged lifestyle.
- 4:08And, you know, today kids get a trophy for being born.
- 4:13So Melissa, you've been around the dance world a long time.
- 4:15How do you think other moms would characterize you
- 4:18as a dance mom?
- 4:19I think that they would say that I'm an involved dance
- 4:21mom, because I'm very involved in my kids,
- 4:23just like all of us.
- 4:24Christi, what do you think other dance moms would say
- 4:26about what kind of dance mom she is?
- 4:27Melissa spent a lot of time in the studio in years past.
- 4:30No one is going to disagree that we all want to be involved
- 4:34in our children's lives.
- 4:36And our kids go to school all day,
- 4:38and they spend a lot of time in the dance studio.
- 4:40And so oftentimes, that's the only time
- 4:41we get to spend with them.
- 4:44So I think that that's what people say-- like, you're
- 4:46always at the dance studio.
- 4:47Well, I don't look at it that we're always at the dance
- 4:49studio.
- 4:50I look at it as we're spending time with our kids,
- 4:51because if we weren't there, I would never see them,
- 4:53and we would turn around one day and they'd be 18, moving out.
- 4:56We're just willing to put the time in
- 4:58to be with our children, because I don't want
- 5:00to turn around someday and go, I missed their childhood.
- 5:02Jeff, if I may, Melissa's the kind of person
- 5:04that if a piece of paper is laying on the floor,
- 5:07she doesn't step over it.
- 5:08She picks it up and throws it away.
- 5:09And I think that rubbed people the wrong way.
- 5:12People that had been there for years and years and years,
- 5:15but they expected me to go and ask them for help.
- 5:18And I'm sure they would have helped me.
- 5:20Melissa just started doing it.
- 5:21We've had a couple of very hectic seasons of rehearsals,
- 5:23road trips, and grueling competitions.
- 5:25Thanks to these women right here,
- 5:28the world has learned that it's definitely not
- 5:31easy to be a dance mom.
- 5:32I want to know from each of you, and you have to be absolutely
- 5:34honest, who do you think, Holly, is the most outrageous dance
- 5:38mom?
- 5:39I don't know.
- 5:40I think we all equally share that title at the moment.
- 5:42You need to run for politics.
- 5:43I keep telling you that.
- 5:46ABBY LEE MILLER: Throw somebody under that bus!
- 5:47I would say it's a tie between Christi and Kelly.
- 5:48I think Kelly definitely speaks her mind.
- 5:52And when she does, watch out.
- 5:54Let's go, Paige.
- 5:55Brooke, you can leave class, too.
- 5:57I do not want to support Abby as a dance teacher.
- 6:00I'm not doing it to my kids--
- 6:01I'm not.
- 6:02Don't cry.
- 6:03It's all your fault to begin with.
- 6:05You can't just be smart.
- 6:07She just lets it fly.
- 6:08JEFF COLLINS: All right.
- 6:09So since we've nailed Kelly, Kelly,
- 6:10who do you think is the most outrageous, outspoken
- 6:12craziest dance mom?
- 6:14I think Christi.
- 6:15You're not pecking at something,
- 6:16and you're not pooping.
- 6:18Like, you just straighten your knees.
- 6:20Chloe!
- 6:22I think she pushes her kids more.
- 6:25Like, when we're behind--
- 6:27You pushed Brooke when she was young.
- 6:28When she was young I did.
- 6:29You still push Paige.
- 6:30Yeah, but Chloe's still young.
- 6:31No, she's 11.
- 6:33Yeah, but you were pushing Brooke when she was 11.
- 6:35Brooke, from 6 to 9 I really worked with Brooke.
- 6:39Except I was friends with you, when you were still pushing her
- 6:40when she was 10 and 11.
- 6:43I disagree.
- 6:44I don't think she pushed her at all.
- 6:46I think--
- 6:46I think she'd already live here,
- 6:48and Brooke would have already been a star.
- 6:49I think I fight with Abby a lot
- 6:50and I speak my mind because I'm standing up
- 6:51for what I believe is right.
- 6:54But I don't think I push my kids.
- 6:55I don't think you do.
- 6:55I don't think so.
- 6:58You know what's amazing about the two of you,
- 6:59you guys are actually besties, but yet you
- 7:02tell each other the truth. - Yes.
- 7:03JEFF COLLINS: You tell it like it is.
- 7:04Well, everyone always thinks that we don't argue.
- 7:07That is not true. - Oh, I've seen you.
- 7:08CHRISTI LUKASIAK: Kelly and I argue often.
- 7:10I don't need her to tell me I'm a bitch.
- 7:10I already know I am.
- 7:12But we're good enough friends to know that if I tell her
- 7:16how I'm feeling and I'm having a bad day,
- 7:18it's going to be fine tomorrow because we get it.
- 7:21People will come up to me and say, how can you guys look
- 7:23at each other after you sit and say something?
- 7:24But there's nothing that I say on the show about any
- 7:26of these women--
- 7:28CHRISTI LUKASIAK: That we haven't said.
- 7:29--that I wouldn't say to their face.
- 7:30Kelly lives real close to me, and I go to her house
- 7:32after I take the kids to school sometimes in my pajamas,
- 7:34and we just sit and chat, have coffee.
- 7:36I think that that's what people don't understand.
- 7:38We are ugly and nasty with each other.
- 7:40But when the chips are down, everyone has each other's back.
- 7:42Everyone thinks Melissa and I have this tension between us,
- 7:44and we do to a certain degree.
- 7:46But when I need something, I call Melissa.
- 7:49And she's the first one to help me.
- 7:50And that's the thing about our relationship.
- 7:52I think in many ways it's like a family
- 7:53and we're dysfunctional in our relationships in some respects.
- 7:58But you don't get to pick and choose members of your family.
- 8:00We're all thrown into this because we have a common bond.
- 8:03Our daughters dance.
- 8:04We're here, and we learned how to navigate that.
- 8:08I get to choose that.
- 8:09And I'm an only child. - You don't get to choose that.
- 8:10I'm an only child, so the whole family
- 8:12thing is just like--
- 8:13whatever.
- 8:14Yes, but you created this family, Abby.
- 8:15So the dysfunctionality of our relationship--
- 8:17I'm so glad to hear you say that, because I can create
- 8:20another one.
- 8:21Well, you could, but that would be your loss.
- 8:22So listen, let's talk about one
- 8:25of the things in the show that is a very controversial element
- 8:27of the show, which is Abby's famous pyramid.
- 8:29Girls, let's go.
- 8:31Come on, girls.
- 8:36Why do you do the pyramid?
- 8:37Every dance teacher in the country--
- 8:39I mean, choreographers that I deal with
- 8:41and my colleagues-- we all have a pyramid in our head.
- 8:45That pyramid sets it up.
- 8:47The kids are standing right there.
- 8:49So I feel like it's a really big lesson
- 8:52in the way the world works.
- 8:53You go to a cattle call, you walk
- 8:55in, you stand on that line, the famous chorus line--
- 8:58yes, no, no, yes, no.
- 9:00Nobody tells you why.
- 9:03At least I'm explaining to the kids why you're here.
- 9:06What did you do right?
- 9:07What did you do wrong?
- 9:08What happened?
- 9:10This is where you ended up.
- 9:11Now, Christi, I can feel your energy.
- 9:14I can feel it.
- 9:15I know that you have a very strong opinion
- 9:16about the pyramid.
- 9:18I just think that it's one thing when you are in a work
- 9:19environment and you kind of see the hierarchy of things.
- 9:22I think it's a different thing when
- 9:23you have little girls involved.
- 9:24Our kids have done the pyramid for many weeks now,
- 9:26and I still think that it's hurtful.
- 9:29And I think there's other ways to go about things.
- 9:31I think the kids are smarter than Christi is giving them
- 9:35credit for.
- 9:37Although I am not a fan of the pyramid, I will say this--
- 9:40it holds Abby accountable for her thinking.
- 9:43So she can't just say it's in her head
- 9:44or she can deny that she favors a child.
- 9:48So you see it right there in front
- 9:50of you, all the photographs, what she's thinking,
- 9:51and you can hold her accountable,
- 9:53whether you agree or disagree.
- 9:54THEME SONG: Living on the dance floor.
- 10:01Melissa, a lot of people think that Abby plays favoritism
- 10:03to Maddie.
- 10:04And obviously we know in the show
- 10:06that Maddie ends up at the top of the pyramid a lot.
- 10:09ABBY LEE MILLER: Maddie, you're on the top of the pyramid
- 10:10because you won a national title.
- 10:12Again, it's Maddie.
- 10:14Maddie.
- 10:15Maddie.
- 10:16It's Maddie.
- 10:18Second person on top of the pyramid is also Maddie.
- 10:24Are you ever concerned about Maddie's future
- 10:28when someday she's not at the top of the pyramid?
- 10:30I'm really not concerned, because she's not always
- 10:31at the top of the pyramid.
- 10:33And Abby is strict with her and tells her all of her flaws.
- 10:36But sometimes Abby does it in private, not
- 10:38in front of everybody.
- 10:39JEFF COLLINS: How do you guys feel?
- 10:40I think she's doing a disfavor to Maddie.
- 10:43Anytime we have a competition or something
- 10:46and Maddie doesn't win, she loses it.
- 10:48She's not lost it.
- 10:49I don't understand what you're talking about.
- 10:50Like, we had a turn contest at bootie camp.
- 10:53Chloe won.
- 10:54All of a sudden Maddie had a headache.
- 10:55We had the watermelon contest in Abby's pool.
- 10:58Nia won.
- 10:59All of a sudden, Maddie got hurt.
- 11:00Like, she's never going to win all the time.
- 11:02MELISSA GISONI: I know that.
- 11:03And I just think that--
- 11:04But that's her maturity level.
- 11:05Letting your child think that she's
- 11:07going to win all the time, I think those are the kids
- 11:09that end up anorexic because the girl beside her
- 11:11got the part because she was skinnier than she was.
- 11:13I never tell Maddie she's going to win, ever.
- 11:15I mean, I don't.
- 11:16She works on her own.
- 11:17I don't work with her on her routines
- 11:19because I never pretend to be a dance teacher.
- 11:21So while we're on the subject of Maddie,
- 11:23for most of the season Maddie seemed absolutely unstoppable.
- 11:26She's won crown after crown at dance competitions
- 11:28around the country.
- 11:29We don't know if it's her magnetic smile
- 11:32or her emotional performances, but it seemed like nobody could
- 11:35take their eyes off of her--
- 11:36especially you, Abby.
- 11:38[interposing voices]
- 11:39I love you.
- 11:40That child works so hard.
- 11:42Maddie's solo is exquisite.
- 11:47MELISSA GISONI: Maddie's choreography
- 11:48and Chloe's choreography were not
- 11:50even in the same stratosphere.
- 11:53I would say Maddie and Chloe go back and forth for the best
- 11:55dancer in the group.
- 11:57CHLOE: I kind of wish Miss Abby gave the same attention
- 12:00that she gave to Maddie to the other girls and I.
- 12:03I guess she's setting us up for another Maddie-Chloe .
- 12:05Showdown It'll be the same old, same old.
- 12:07You know, Abby will be working with Maddie right
- 12:08before she goes on stage, and it'll be me
- 12:10in the back hallway with my daughter,
- 12:12because that's how it always is.
- 12:13All the focus is on Maddie.
- 12:15And then there's nothing left for anybody else.
- 12:18Right.
- 12:19[music playing]
- 12:24There is not a tear shed for another child in this company.
- 12:29That's my issue.
- 12:30These are children, and you cry for whatever reason
- 12:33for one child and not the other?
- 12:35They all hurt the same.
- 12:36And the kids know.
- 12:37The kids know. - It was so obvious.
- 12:38[inaudible]
- 12:39You should be so lucky to have Chloe as your student,
- 12:41because she's a great dancer, and everybody knows it,
- 12:43except for you.
- 12:45I made her!
- 12:45I know it!
- 12:47You did not make her.
- 12:47Were you pregnant for nine months?
- 12:49I made her.
- 12:49You know what?
- 12:51You couldn't have given a [bleep] about her
- 12:52for so many years when I sat up there
- 12:54and I told her what to do, because you were too busy
- 12:55looking at everybody else.
- 12:58Oh, who else was I looking at?
- 12:59- Oh, let me guess. - Everybody.
- 13:00Who?
- 13:02Who else?
- 13:03CHRISTI LUKASIAK: Abby does not put any value on any child
- 13:06in her studio except for Maddie, and those kids know it.
- 13:08And it is a shame.
- 13:11So Christi, does that upset you
- 13:12when you see Chloe say on tape that she wished Abby spent
- 13:16as much time with her as she spent with Maddie?
- 13:18Yeah.
- 13:19I also wished-- I think all the girls wished that Abby talked
- 13:20to them like she speaks to Maddie.
- 13:22She says to our kids, why are you so stupid?
- 13:25You're so stupid. You're so stupid.
- 13:26To Maddie she says, you're smarter than that.
- 13:27Like--
- 13:29When Maddie comes in to work on a solo, she is open minded.
- 13:33She wants to help along the choreography.
- 13:38She is experimental, if you will.
- 13:42She-- and that face.
- 13:44She just dances with her face first.
- 13:46She has a great facility.
- 13:49She has a beautiful body.
- 13:50She should have a crown on her head all the time.
- 13:52You know, that's what you look at.
- 13:54Every one of the kids are different,
- 13:56and the way the relationship works, hey,
- 14:01Maddie could graduate from high school,
- 14:02and I could never hear from her again.
- 14:04Let me ask you about something that the viewers thought was
- 14:06pretty outrageous and pretty controversial.
- 14:08In one of the episodes, you asked Melissa
- 14:11to bring in Maddie's crowns.
- 14:12Right.
- 14:13And you displayed the crowns in front
- 14:15of all the other girls.
- 14:17Starbound.
- 14:18Ooh, that's pretty.
- 14:18Energy.
- 14:20CHRISTI LUKASIAK: Maddie still wins, just because she
- 14:21has better choreography and Abby makes sure of that.
- 14:24Every week, she makes sure that Maddie has the best
- 14:27choreography out of this group.
- 14:28And you can sit here and get mad at me, but you know it's true.
- 14:31There's no question.
- 14:33GEA.
- 14:34Running out of room.
- 14:36What were you trying to teach them?
- 14:37That it's not the crown.
- 14:39It's the work you put in to try to win that crown.
- 14:43Holly, you're rolling your eyes at all this.
- 14:44What's going on?
- 14:46When you favor a child or a student,
- 14:49it's hurtful for the other students.
- 14:50And it's clear that there are favorites.
- 14:52And Abby's unapologetic for having favorites.
- 14:55She can have her favorites--
- 14:56And if your-- not middle school, but in the high school,
- 14:58do you not have a valedictorian?
- 15:00A valedictorian is something totally different.
- 15:02It's not the same.
- 15:03It's not the equivalent.
- 15:04Maddie is not a valedictorian.
- 15:06She's not.
- 15:08So Melissa, when Abby asked you to bring those crowns in--
- 15:10I was not happy.
- 15:11After it was being done--
- 15:13Let me interject.
- 15:14I said, bring these crowns in, and I want you to look back
- 15:16at how hard you worked and how important these were.
- 15:19She didn't want to put those crowns on the table.
- 15:21ABBY LEE MILLER: Oh, absolutely.
- 15:22Why do you people make her do it?
- 15:24Why did her mother allow her to pack up those crowns--
- 15:27MELISSA GISONI: I didn't know what they were gonna do.
- 15:28--and take them to the studio?
- 15:30Because she knew it was going to hurt every one of those kids.
- 15:32Well, you must have had some idea.
- 15:33No, I did not know.
- 15:34If I was her mother, I would have said--
- 15:35Let me tell you why.
- 15:36This is what started the whole incident.
- 15:37MELISSA GISONI: I had no idea.
- 15:38We were at a competition, and Maddie won a crown.
- 15:41She no sooner sat back down on that stage
- 15:45that she took that crown off and gave it to somebody else.
- 15:48Now, remember, you have our six, seven children.
- 15:50But behind them are 500 other kids
- 15:54that would have chopped off their right arm
- 15:55to win that crown.
- 15:57So Maddie cannot behave like that.
- 16:00None of my students can.
- 16:01They need to show ownership.
- 16:02They need to be proud.
- 16:03They need to be thrilled when they win that.
- 16:06And she was not.
- 16:07It's a complicated, sometimes rocky relationship
- 16:10that goes back over 30 years.
- 16:11We may not know everything that went down between Abby
- 16:14and Kelly throughout their long history,
- 16:16but we do know that there was something about this season
- 16:18that pushed them over the edge.
- 16:21So take a look at this.
- 16:22It's bad parenting, Kelly.
- 16:24She should have opened her mouth and said, Abby--
- 16:26KELLY HYLAND: Whether I was drinking or not,
- 16:27it's none of her damn business.
- 16:28Your kid doesn't want to dance.
- 16:29They're lazy, and they don't like to lose.
- 16:32You're playing with fire, Kelly.
- 16:36Done.
- 16:36[gasping]
- 16:39[bleep] you, Abby.
- 16:40You don't need them for the competition.
- 16:41I told you to do it for today.
- 16:43KELLY HYLAND: You know what, Abby?
- 16:45What?
- 16:46We're done.
- 16:47You're not doing a solo.
- 16:49Neither of my kids are doing a group dance.
- 16:50That's fine. KELLY HYLAND: OK?
- 16:52That's fine.
- 16:52[inaudible]
- 16:54I pay for costumes and props, and I don't get them.
- 16:57I've been here all day making costumes for you, while you
- 17:02were down the road eating.
- 17:04Stop eating.
- 17:06That's why you're fat.
- 17:08Goodbye.
- 17:10You told me at 10 o'clock at night
- 17:12that I needed stoppers for a chair the next morning.
- 17:15Right.
- 17:16You know what, Abby, I have three kids that
- 17:17need to be at school.
- 17:18Your husband that I keep hearing about.
- 17:20So tell him to go do something.
- 17:22KELLY HYLAND: My husband works. - OK.
- 17:23And you wouldn't know that, because you live at home
- 17:25with your mom.
- 17:26Right, I take care of my mom.
- 17:27People who have a family have things to do--
- 17:29ABBY LEE MILLER: And guess what, Kelly.
- 17:30--outside of dance.
- 17:31When my mother was 17, she paid the mortgage
- 17:34on her parents' house.
- 17:35KELLY HYLAND: I don't really give a [bleep]
- 17:36what your mother did.
- 17:37I'm talking about me.
- 17:38I have a husband and I have three kids
- 17:40and I have a home that I am taking care of.
- 17:42Right.
- 17:43Dance is my extracurricular activity.
- 17:44ABBY LEE MILLER: Right.
- 17:45At 10 o'clock when I got home, going and buying
- 17:47stoppers was not in--
- 17:49So why didn't you just come to me and say, I can't?
- 17:53When you threw the chair on the floor--
- 17:54I'd throw it harder.
- 17:55JEFF COLLINS: You would?
- 17:56It's my studio, my chair--
- 17:58That's a $68,000 floor, and you're
- 18:00going to throw a chair on it?
- 18:01THEME SONG: Living on the dance floor.
- 18:06So Kelly, look, here's something
- 18:08that everybody's wondering because of some
- 18:10of the things that have happened over this last season.
- 18:12So next season, are you in or are you out?
- 18:15It's up for debate.
- 18:17So you're not sure?
- 18:18I'm not sure now.
- 18:19So there's--
- 18:20Oh, she told me she was not coming back.
- 18:22So there's a chance that we may not see you next year.
- 18:24You may not.
- 18:25So you're going to think about it over the summer?
- 18:26Mm-hmm.
- 18:28My kids want to be back, but I'm getting to the point,
- 18:30I just don't know that it's worth it.
- 18:31Paige is the most fun-loving child I know.
- 18:36And I just feel like that studio is breaking her spirit.
- 18:40I agree 100%.
- 18:41When Paige and I are together outside the dance environment,
- 18:44she's a very nice, kind little girl.
- 18:47We have no trouble.
- 18:48Step inside that studio, I expect more from her.
- 18:50JEFF COLLINS: All right.
- 18:51Well, let's do this.
- 18:52We have a lot of fans who have written some questions
- 18:54that they would like to ask you ladies.
- 18:57So here's one from--
- 18:58Oh, cool.
- 18:59--from Julie from Massachusetts who asks, Kelly,
- 19:02you totally hit below the belt when you took shots
- 19:04at Abby's weight and called her a whore.
- 19:06I said, Kelly, go get a job.
- 19:08Oh, don't even go there, you whore.
- 19:11Oh, you are a whore.
- 19:13JEFF COLLINS: Any regrets over your choice of words?
- 19:16No, I do not regret my choice of words.
- 19:18Because when I called Abby a whore,
- 19:21you didn't see what really happened.
- 19:23Abby went below the belt, talking about my family
- 19:25members.
- 19:26But I don't know why you would use that word.
- 19:28I mean, why would you go to that word directly?
- 19:30If I would have thought about it,
- 19:31I would have called you a virgin.
- 19:33And that's a bad thing?
- 19:34Just so your kids can hear it, that's a bad thing?
- 19:35- Yeah. - OK.
- 19:37So Abby, you and Kelly grew up together.
- 19:40You've known her since you were two years old.
- 19:43Yes, I danced for her mother, since I was two and a half.
- 19:45OK.
- 19:46So what would you describe her-- what was she
- 19:47like when she was a kid?
- 19:49Beautiful, fun, similar to Paige, a little dingy?
- 19:54Talented.
- 19:55Dingy?
- 19:57ABBY LEE MILLER: Talented.
- 19:58JEFF COLLINS: Right.
- 19:58Fun.
- 19:59Potential.
- 20:01Great potential.
- 20:02And what would you describe Abby like when you guys were
- 20:04kids?
- 20:05[chuckling] Um, bossy.
- 20:09JEFF COLLINS: Well, that hasn't changed.
- 20:10Mean.
- 20:11But in all of that, I think Abby taught me a lot.
- 20:14Like, I don't regret a lot of the things
- 20:18that I've done with Abby.
- 20:19And I think that's probably one of the reasons
- 20:20why I brought my kids to Abby.
- 20:22I mean, when I look back at certain things that I do,
- 20:26I think of Abby.
- 20:27Just like, when I'm sitting somewhere, my posture,
- 20:31I think of Abby telling me--
- 20:33[inaudible]
- 20:33KELLY HYLAND: --do this.
- 20:34Or if I wear ankle strap shoes, you know,
- 20:36Abby said that makes your ankles look fat.
- 20:38Like, there's a lot of things that I
- 20:39go back to that Abby has taught me, even though she was mean.
- 20:43So let's move on.
- 20:45Look, there's no denying that out of all the dance moms,
- 20:47Melissa has the closest ties to Abby, of course.
- 20:50The other moms have accused you of being a tattletale,
- 20:52being manipulative, being brown-nosing.
- 20:55But it was this CD skip heard 'round the world that got
- 20:59the other moms really talking.
- 21:01So let's take a look at this.
- 21:04[music skipping]
- 21:08So I don't know what happened with the CD.
- 21:09It just scratched.
- 21:12We need to move on.
- 21:13Abby has been in the dance world long enough to know
- 21:16that when that happens you win.
- 21:19So the second Maddie's music stopped,
- 21:21I knew what was going on.
- 21:23So Melissa, here's your chance.
- 21:25Did that conversation between you and Kelly really happen?
- 21:28Did you really tell Kelly that Maddie
- 21:29knew the CD was going to skip?
- 21:31No, I did not.
- 21:32She practiced to a CD, but not to that-- she practiced
- 21:33to an iPad.
- 21:35OK, but was she instructed to keep dancing if something
- 21:36happened-- - So was your two kids!
- 21:37Everybody's instructed--
- 21:38Everybody's kids are instructed.
- 21:40Something happens to your music, honey, you just keep dancing.
- 21:42My kid hasn't been told that in the past year.
- 21:44[interposing voices]
- 21:45Hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 21:46I swear on my children's life.
- 21:47I swear on my mother's grave that I did not say.
- 21:50No, go back and watch that clip.
- 21:51Because Maddie never even hesitated.
- 21:54Of course she didn't, because she's a professional.
- 21:54ABBY LEE MILLER: She didn't.
- 21:57The music stops when you're onstage, [inaudible]..
- 21:57Hey, knock it off.
- 22:00You're messing with my professional reputation.
- 22:02I don't care.
- 22:03But if your daughter's music would have stopped--
- 22:04Calling me a cheater?
- 22:05--she would have kept dancing, and you know that.
- 22:05Cuckoo.
- 22:07Yeah.
- 22:08In my experience, in the decade that I've
- 22:09known both of these women, Kelly has never lied to me.
- 22:12I can't say the same for Melissa.
- 22:14JEFF COLLINS: Christi, one of the things
- 22:15that you said to me off camera, you
- 22:17say that we never get to see the fun that you guys have
- 22:18together. - No, you don't.
- 22:20Exactly.
- 22:21CHRISTI LUKASIAK: You don't.
- 22:22Because we all understand from watching the show
- 22:23that you really do have a relationship
- 22:25and that you really are close and that you really
- 22:27do love each other.
- 22:28And what are some of the most fun experiences
- 22:29that you've had with these women?
- 22:30Oh, my best memories of these women
- 22:32have been my pregnancy with Clara.
- 22:36That was great that I shared it with these guys.
- 22:38What, our baby?
- 22:38It's our baby.
- 22:39I mean, she is.
- 22:40She's everybody's baby.
- 22:43OK, little cup of tea.
- 22:45I had a very hard time getting pregnant a second time.
- 22:48I wanted a second baby more than anything.
- 22:49I had given up hope.
- 22:51I got pregnant with Clara.
- 22:52Who were the first people at the hospital?
- 22:53Paige-- Paige is in--
- 22:55Paige was the first one there.
- 22:57My daughter was born, and there's pictures of Chloe
- 22:58and Paige holding my baby.
- 23:00[inaudible]
- 23:02They brought me flowers.
- 23:03Holly's my neighbor.
- 23:04You know, you don't see those things.
- 23:06Our kids, when they have free time,
- 23:09they don't want to hang around with their school friend kids.
- 23:13They want to hang around with their dance friends.
- 23:18JEFF COLLINS: All dance moms have a different reason
- 23:19that they choose this tough dance life for their child.
- 23:22But for Christi, her daughter dancing at the Abby Lee Dance
- 23:24Company is fulfilling a dream she's always had for herself.
- 23:27Take a look.
- 23:29When I was a little girl, I dreamed
- 23:31of taking dance lessons.
- 23:32And I lived with my grandparents.
- 23:35I moved back and forth on and off.
- 23:36And I danced on the lawn.
- 23:38And I dreamed of having a life like she does.
- 23:42Although I didn't have all those same opportunities that Chloe
- 23:45had, my grandparents were able to give me something that
- 23:49my mother didn't.
- 23:49And that was unconditional love.
- 23:57I had a hard childhood.
- 24:00I wanted my children to have every opportunity that I never
- 24:04had.
- 24:05And it's not just opportunities to dance.
- 24:06It's an opportunity to go after something that you love
- 24:09and that you're passionate about and have the full support
- 24:12of your parents behind you.
- 24:13Chloe did soccer.
- 24:14She did basketball.
- 24:15She did volleyball.
- 24:17She did the piano.
- 24:18You know, she tried a million different things.
- 24:20And it was always dance that she came back to.
- 24:22I just want Chloe to be so much of a better person
- 24:26than I ever can be.
- 24:28She will go to the ends of the earth
- 24:30to make sure that that kid is at the right place
- 24:33at the right time and looking the right way.
- 24:36But I also think right now, Chloe is her ticket out.
- 24:39No, she's my ticket to raising someone who I'm proud of.
- 24:44And if you can't see that, shame on you,
- 24:45because that's every mother's goal.
- 24:47Like--
- 24:48Yes, but you should also be teaching her
- 24:49to be able to be independent.
- 24:52That's every parent's job.
- 24:53Yes.
- 24:54Now, Abby--
- 24:56So when you're gone that she continues to live that way.
- 24:58My daughter is independent.
- 24:59She's just terrified of you.
- 25:00When you keep saying that--
- 25:02CHRISTI LUKASIAK: When you put her on the spot--
- 25:03- --then why do you come back? - --then why do you come back?
- 25:04I would have left had she not won that national title.
- 25:07I would have left.
- 25:10So listen, our moms have always questioned
- 25:13Abby's creative vision.
- 25:14But one particular ethnic solo had Holly seeing red,
- 25:19and it got everybody talking about Laquifa.
- 25:22What?
- 25:23What?
- 25:24Let's take a look at this Laquifa number.
- 25:25What?
- 25:27"They Call Me Laquifa."
- 25:29Gotcha.
- 25:29(SINGING) They call me Laquifa.
- 25:31I'm a post-modern-- pin--
- 25:31what?
- 25:33They call me Laquifa.
- 25:34I'm a post-modern-- what?
- 25:35What? What?
- 25:36What? What?
- 25:38What?
- 25:39She was wearing this '70s Afro wig.
- 25:41It just seemed so stereotypical.
- 25:42It is stereotypical.
- 25:43Absolutely.
- 25:45If I send her to an audition, it's
- 25:47going to be an ethnic call.
- 25:48It's like, there's a little undertone of nuance that is
- 25:51a little bit of a negativity.
- 25:52She doesn't have good feet.
- 25:53She doesn't have great turnout.
- 25:55She doesn't straighten her knees.
- 25:56She's swayback.
- 25:57I'm telling you very nicely-- pick the music,
- 26:00pick the choreographer.
- 26:01To have my kid dress up in an Afro?
- 26:03So Holly, which part of that was the part that really got
- 26:07you going?
- 26:08Oh, the Afro heard 'round the world.
- 26:10The Afro heard 'round the world.
- 26:12Look, I don't need an Afro wig to show me that I'm black.
- 26:16And I don't need for Nia to think
- 26:17that that makes her black.
- 26:18Her identity is bigger than an Afro wig.
- 26:20I think Nia is unique.
- 26:24And I don't think she has to be compromised by portraying
- 26:26a certain type of African-American.
- 26:29I think we've come a long way.
- 26:31And it didn't really celebrate any heritage.
- 26:32I have no problem with ethnic dances.
- 26:34I was in an African dance company.
- 26:36I loved my experience with that.
- 26:38What's your reasoning?
- 26:39Why all the ethnic dances for Nia?
- 26:42Because she's ethnic.
- 26:43If I'm doing a Swedish dance, I'm
- 26:46going to use Chloe and Paige.
- 26:48But it's what they're going to win with.
- 26:51It's their best shot at success.
- 26:53And it's the Abby Lee Dance Company,
- 26:55so I want to go in there and win.
- 26:56For me to do that, I felt that's what the music dictated.
- 26:59I wanted it to be fun.
- 27:00I wanted it to be exciting.
- 27:03And like you said, she's much bigger than the Afro.
- 27:06But the Afro is big.
- 27:07It made a statement.
- 27:08Nia learned from it.
- 27:10She learned to embrace it.
- 27:11Whether Holly liked it or not, whether Holly respects it
- 27:13or not, I don't really care.
- 27:15We know.
- 27:17That's obvious.
- 27:18My job is to teach Nia that these are the parts she's going
- 27:19to go after.
- 27:21She wants to do this professionally, that's
- 27:22what she's going to do.
- 27:24All right.
- 27:26So Principal Holly is the one mom in the group who struggled
- 27:27with balancing a full-time career
- 27:29and a full-time competition season.
- 27:31But there were times that straddling both these worlds
- 27:33didn't sit too well with you.
- 27:36So let's take a look at this.
- 27:37Parents worked hard to be here today.
- 27:39Here, I think moms who don't work probably
- 27:42have a more flexible schedule.
- 27:43But you know that I work.
- 27:45I feel right now that I care more about Nia's success
- 27:47than you do.
- 27:48No, you're--
- 27:49Your husband was here.
- 27:50He walked right in the door.
- 27:52Why didn't he stay?
- 27:52Abby, if you--
- 27:54My dad even took me to the mother-daughter talk about
- 27:57getting your period.
- 27:58My dad took me, because my mother was at work.
- 28:00Figure it out, because you know what, the kid needs somebody.
- 28:03Abby, was I--
- 28:03She's not that swift.
- 28:04HOLLY FRAZIER: How dare you?
- 28:06you think you're up here because you have a doctorate,
- 28:08and everybody else is down here.
- 28:09That's your problem, Abby.
- 28:10You are intimidated by me because I have my doctorate.
- 28:12Bull!
- 28:14So Holly, during the evolution of the show,
- 28:16we watched you get your doctorate.
- 28:17So hats off to you.
- 28:18Congratulations.
- 28:19Thank you.
- 28:20JEFF COLLINS: So because you've straddled this fence back
- 28:22and forth, does that mean that women can't do it all?
- 28:26The demands of a competitive dance team, working full time,
- 28:31and also maintaining what was needed in our household,
- 28:33I had to re-evaluate.
- 28:36And I don't want working moms to think
- 28:37that they can't have it all.
- 28:38I think you can.
- 28:40But you have to really evaluate what's best for your interest
- 28:41for your family.
- 28:42And for me, I thought as a working mother,
- 28:45it's a great model--
- 28:46not only for Nia but the other girls on a competitive dance
- 28:49team-- to see that you can have a career, that you can
- 28:52be married and have a household, and still be there
- 28:55for your family and doing whatever they need to.
- 28:57If you've ever wondered what makes a good dance mom,
- 28:59these ladies have shown that good sewing skills
- 29:02and a quick comeback are essential.
- 29:04But for dance mom Jill Vertes, a sexy 1-900 voice
- 29:09and knowing how to storm out of a studio
- 29:12are the qualities that make her memorable.
- 29:14All right, Jill.
- 29:16Come on out.
- 29:16[music playing]
- 29:18Wow.
- 29:19Hi, guys.
- 29:21Hello, everybody.
- 29:22Did you miss me?
- 29:23Hi, Jeff.
- 29:24She really doesn't need a seat.
- 29:25She doesn't stay long.
- 29:26Oh, I'm not going anywhere.
- 29:28So here's the question that everybody
- 29:30seems to want to know.
- 29:31Is she a studio hopper or a concerned mom
- 29:33who just wants the best for her kid?
- 29:36Judge for yourself.
- 29:38WOMAN: She lives down the street,
- 29:39and yet she drove an hour in each direction.
- 29:41WOMAN: She's been to three studios in six years.
- 29:42I don't think it's getting tired of studios.
- 29:43Really? What have you heard?
- 29:46I think it's getting--
- 29:48[shouting]
- 29:48Pack my bags and go home right now.
- 29:50Is that what-- would that make you guys really happy?
- 29:53No, that would not make me happy.
- 29:54Because that's what I'm doing.
- 29:55ABBY LEE MILLER: And you know who's gonna lose?
- 29:57I'm sick of this [bleep].
- 29:58I'm done!
- 29:59It's going to be your daughter that loses.
- 30:01I'm done! Good for you.
- 30:02It's your daughter.
- 30:03We're done at Abby's.
- 30:04I'm taking you somewhere where they
- 30:04are going to appreciate you.
- 30:07Were you looking to join--
- 30:07I need a studio.
- 30:10You might want to just go ahead and join with us
- 30:12and become an Apple.
- 30:14I need fun.
- 30:15I know you have a lot of students,
- 30:17but if you can't give my student enough time,
- 30:21how can I continue to keep bringing her to you,
- 30:23when you can't give her the time of day?
- 30:24I made a mistake going to Candy Apples.
- 30:27And I would really like for you to find a spot for Kendall
- 30:31on this team like you did once before.
- 30:32Still the same old Jill.
- 30:34All right.
- 30:35So when she went to Candy Apples,
- 30:36you said that that was the ultimate betrayal.
- 30:39So why did you take her back?
- 30:39Because of Kendall.
- 30:41Kendall is a good kid.
- 30:43She's smart.
- 30:43She picks up quickly.
- 30:45She's only 9 years old.
- 30:46And she's beautiful.
- 30:49JEFF COLLINS: Christi, from the very first time you met Jill,
- 30:50you said you didn't like her.
- 30:52Someone said to me, wait until you meet Jill.
- 30:53She is the ultimate stage mom.
- 30:56She will do absolutely anything in her power
- 30:58to get her kid ahead.
- 31:00But, you know, I--
- 31:01She just likes you because you eat money out of men's pants.
- 31:03Well, that's what we [inaudible]..
- 31:05Oh, what's that story?
- 31:07We went to a local establishment, we'll say.
- 31:10But next thing I know, there's a very young man
- 31:12who may be young enough to be your son with a couple
- 31:15of twenties sticking out of his waistband.
- 31:17And Jill is taking them out of his waist with her teeth.
- 31:21JEFF COLLINS: Whoa!
- 31:22CHRISTI LUKASIAK: With her teeth!
- 31:23JILL VERTES: I just got in there--
- 31:24CHRISTI LUKASIAK: No, he offered it to me, and I passed.
- 31:26And you told me to take the stick out of my ass.
- 31:30All right.
- 31:31So Jill, when Abby told you to make a costume for Kendall,
- 31:35you kind of cheated.
- 31:36You used an old one.
- 31:37Do you feel that you bent the rules a little bit there?
- 31:41I'm going to be perfectly honest.
- 31:43I did not bend the rules, because every single one,
- 31:46except Christi, used an old costume.
- 31:48I don't care what they say--
- 31:52You couldn't use a costume from another studio, though.
- 31:52That was--
- 31:54No, she didn't tell me that.
- 31:55MELISSA GISONI: Yes, she did. Yes, she did.
- 31:57She told all of us that.
- 31:58And Nia did not use a costume that she has worn before.
- 32:01I wanted you to do it.
- 32:02And I was trying to teach the kids,
- 32:03you can make do with what you have.
- 32:05It's about your talent.
- 32:07That was the lesson.
- 32:08You cheated.
- 32:10We're going to have to agree to disagree.
- 32:11OK.
- 32:12Jill's not the only one who's been under fire.
- 32:15Melissa came under a lot of scrutiny
- 32:16by other moms because of her personal life.
- 32:20She's so forthcoming.
- 32:21She'll tell you anything about her body, nooks, crevices,
- 32:24desires, taboos.
- 32:26All that. - [chuckling]
- 32:27HOLLY FRAZIER: I lost my appetite.
- 32:28I mean, I know that she's cleanly shaved down there,
- 32:31but she won't tell me she's engaged.
- 32:34Hello?
- 32:34That's a little too personal.
- 32:36She's such a bitch.
- 32:38The moms through you an unwanted bachelorette party.
- 32:43And they badgered you about your engagement ring.
- 32:46And you felt ganged up on.
- 32:48Why?
- 32:49I wanted to keep it private, because my significant other
- 32:53is going through a divorce.
- 32:54So I didn't feel that it was necessary to have it on TV.
- 32:57JEFF COLLINS: You actually had a lawyer write a letter
- 32:59to the other dance moms and tell them
- 33:02that you didn't want them to talk about your personal life
- 33:04on television, or else you were going to take legal action.
- 33:08I can't believe that she sent a letter to all of us
- 33:09from an attorney that was hired to say that we're not allowed
- 33:12to discuss her personal life.
- 33:15And she's supposed to be our friend.
- 33:15Who does that?
- 33:17What friend sends you a letter from an attorney?
- 33:19And then if you do talk about it, she threatens to sue you.
- 33:21Like, friends don't sue friends.
- 33:22Nope.
- 33:24All of us felt like, friends don't sue friends.
- 33:27I did not sue you.
- 33:27This is not my attorney.
- 33:28It's Greg's attorney.
- 33:30I would never go to a friend and threaten legal action
- 33:33and still call you a friend.
- 33:34Wait.
- 33:35Why did you get engaged when he was still married?
- 33:37That's none of your business, Jill.
- 33:38If you had just waited until--
- 33:40but I'm saying, then none of this
- 33:41would have happened, because that's what you were hiding.
- 33:44He's still married, and you're engaged.
- 33:44But that's not--
- 33:46I wasn't hiding that he was married.
- 33:47But, I mean, from the public--
- 33:48that's what the problem is.
- 33:50But that's why you didn't want til on national TV.
- 33:51If you just said, wait, honey, till your divorce is final,
- 33:53which you said it would have been a year ago--
- 33:55MELISSA GISONI: Well, maybe that's
- 33:56what you would have done, but this is what we wanted to do.
- 33:57Well, I'm just asking. You could have--
- 33:58And it was a very special time for me.
- 33:59It was wonderful.
- 34:00And, you know what, the kids wanted it,
- 34:02I wanted it, so we did that.
- 34:04But that's why--
- 34:07we knew you wanted it.
- 34:08And, like, you said you sent Paige a picture of it.
- 34:09Paige was so thrilled for you.
- 34:11MELISSA GISONI: I know she was.
- 34:14But that's why we talked about it with you.
- 34:15We didn't think that it was something wrong to talk about.
- 34:18Because Paige texted me on Christmas.
- 34:19ABBY LEE MILLER: But then what about the very first time
- 34:20she asked you, please don't talk about it?
- 34:22Why didn't it just go away?
- 34:23But why do you have to speak for her?
- 34:25You had nothing to do with it.
- 34:26ABBY LEE MILLER: Well, I didn't--
- 34:26I didn't have an attorney.
- 34:28But you know what, this has nothing to do with you.
- 34:29This is between the five of us.
- 34:30It really doesn't.
- 34:31But it affected my studio.
- 34:32MELISSA GISONI: No, it doesn't Abby.
- 34:34Yes, it does.
- 34:34MELISSA GISONI: But it's over now.
- 34:35Because guess what.
- 34:36He's going to be divorced in seven,
- 34:3710 days, 14 days, 15 days, whatever.
- 34:39JILL VERTES: Good for you. ABBY LEE MILLER: Maybe.
- 34:40JILL VERTES: And how soon are you getting married?
- 34:42Can we talk about that? - As soon as we can.
- 34:43As soon as he's divorced.
- 34:45In any event, we're very happy for you.
- 34:46Thank you. Me, too.
- 34:48JEFF COLLINS: We're very happy that you're in love again.
- 34:49Are we coming to the wedding?
- 34:50Absolutely not.
- 34:52[chuckling]
- 34:53I was planning on surprising the kids,
- 34:54but I don't know where we're going to get married.
- 34:55Can the cameras come?
- 34:58I don't know about that.
- 34:59I don't think Greg will allow that.
- 35:01So ladies, I've got a question for you.
- 35:03When I say the name Cathy from Candy Apples,
- 35:06tell me what pops into your mind.
- 35:09Witch.
- 35:10Holly?
- 35:12Silly.
- 35:13Little shoes.
- 35:14Just--
- 35:15JEFF COLLINS: Christi?
- 35:16Jerky.
- 35:17JEFF COLLINS: Kelly?
- 35:17Stalker.
- 35:19JEFF COLLINS: Jill?
- 35:20Annoying.
- 35:21Frankly, when I'm out, people will ask about Cathy.
- 35:23WOMAN: All the time.
- 35:24Tell me, what is she like?
- 35:25And I just say, she's special.
- 35:27[interposing voices]
- 35:30[inaudible],, is Cathy really that creepy?
- 35:32It's almost like Cathy--
- 35:32She's like a cartoon character.
- 35:34She's like the coyote.
- 35:35You know?
- 35:36Like, you know they're never going to catch Roadrunner,
- 35:37but they're going to try to throw an anvil on you.
- 35:38That's exactly right.
- 35:39JEFF COLLINS: So Cathy, come on out.
- 35:41[music playing]
- 35:42[laughter]
- 35:47[cheering]
- 35:49Hello.
- 35:50How's my little Pittsburgh babes?
- 35:53So Cathy, let's just get right to it.
- 35:55There were some very tense moments that happened recently,
- 35:57which we're all anxious to talk about.
- 36:00So let's take a look at this clip.
- 36:01Yeah, because I have no idea.
- 36:03Oh, you're leaving?
- 36:04- Yeah, we're leaving. - All right.
- 36:06Let's go. - Bye.
- 36:07- Bye. - Bye.
- 36:08Safe travels.
- 36:09So, to sum up your trip to Hollywood, California,
- 36:11failures!
- 36:13Keep going.
- 36:14Keep going.
- 36:18Cathy, you're unbe-wee-vable!
- 36:21Christi, enough.
- 36:23She seriously just threw water on me?
- 36:24CHANTING: A-L-D-C!
- 36:26A-L-D-C!
- 36:27Just because you're condescending
- 36:29doesn't make you classy.
- 36:30You're nothing but a hillbilly.
- 36:32Oh, yeah?
- 36:33[shouting]
- 36:35How classy is that?
- 36:39What do you think, Cathy?
- 36:40I think that Sparky over there needed cooling down.
- 36:42That's why the water went on her.
- 36:50JEFF COLLINS: From day one, what is it about the two of you?
- 36:53I think that we constantly see this in everybody's face.
- 36:56So that's why that happened.
- 37:00I mean, screaming and yelling about clean Chloe's clock
- 37:03and, you know, Justice has been her two times in a row.
- 37:06So, you know, you would be--
- 37:08You were the one out there chanting "clean Chloe's
- 37:10clock"--
- 37:11And the whole Candy Apple chant.
- 37:13And we didn't come after you.
- 37:15We did not know that that was your dressing room.
- 37:17And you knew we were at that competition.
- 37:18That's why you were there.
- 37:20That's why, Jeff, I called her a stalker.
- 37:22Because everywhere we go--
- 37:23CATHY NESBITT-STEIN: Kelly--
- 37:24--Cathy's there.
- 37:25Kelly, as far as I know, it was an invitational,
- 37:27and we were invited.
- 37:28So I think that the thing that we need--
- 37:30What about the 50 other compe--
- 37:32We don't come after you.
- 37:34We just come to competitions.
- 37:36We're not chasing after you.
- 37:38I don't know, Cathy.
- 37:38It sure seems like it.
- 37:40There's over 800 dance competition.
- 37:41I think it's a coincidence, Abby.
- 37:43ABBY LEE MILLER: In the United States.
- 37:43You know it's a coincidence.
- 37:45Good, healthy competition and good, healthy rivalry is fine.
- 37:50But for some reason, all of you turn it
- 37:52into vindictive vicious.
- 37:54You're saying that good, healthy competition is OK?
- 37:56But why would you come to the studio where we were?
- 37:59There were 18 other studios invited to the competition.
- 38:03They weren't all rehearsing right next door
- 38:05to me in the other room, chanting about me.
- 38:07You know what, there was a lot of emotions running high
- 38:09that evening.
- 38:10We obviously won and we beat you,
- 38:12and you were just trying to leave the building.
- 38:13And then I think things escalated because of all
- 38:15the feelings that were going on and the emotions
- 38:17from that week.
- 38:18JEFF COLLINS: What is it about the two of you?
- 38:20It's like oil and water.
- 38:22Clearly we're not ever going to call each other up and go
- 38:24to lunch, clearly.
- 38:25However, you know, I appreciate a quick wit.
- 38:30When I'm in a room with the two of you,
- 38:32it's almost comical at times, because--
- 38:34It is, Holly.
- 38:35But excuse me, it upsets the children.
- 38:37There's more to life than winning.
- 38:39And I feel very sorry for you--
- 38:40There's a lot more to life.
- 38:41But you don't recognize any of that.
- 38:43Yes, I do, Cathy.
- 38:44It seems like the conversation always has to end with,
- 38:48and we were winning.
- 38:49Abby, I think I have way more class than you do.
- 38:53I think that you're a loud mouth.
- 38:54(SCREAMING) A loud mouth?
- 38:55You were at the theater.
- 38:57And I'm still apologizing for my behavior.
- 38:59Oh, no, you're not!
- 39:01So Cathy, in the time that you spent at the Abby Lee Dance
- 39:04Company, what did you walk away with?
- 39:07[chuckling] Abby clearly has different tactics than I do.
- 39:12I am very nurturing.
- 39:13She is very aggressive.
- 39:15She is not nice to her customers.
- 39:19I think that one of the reasons why I have much more clientele
- 39:23at my studio is because I'm a businessperson as well
- 39:26as a da--
- 39:27I'm not done, so close your mouth
- 39:29and pull your finger back. - Business first, talent second.
- 39:30Pull your finger back.
- 39:31I'm the other way around.
- 39:32No, that's not true.
- 39:33And I think that the mothers deserve respect.
- 39:38I don't think that the mothers should be annihilated.
- 39:41I don't think that the mothers should
- 39:42be accountable for having to go get props,
- 39:45having to rhinestone costumes.
- 39:49Abby is very good at what she does,
- 39:52and Abby does produce fine talent.
- 39:54So I'm going to give Abby kudos.
- 39:55We've known each other for quite some time,
- 39:57and we may not always win, but we win enough
- 40:00that you know we do create a good competition for you.
- 40:04All right.
- 40:05So on that note, I want to thank all you ladies for coming
- 40:07tonight.
- 40:08That's all we've got time for this week.
- 40:10Next time, the "Dance Moms" reunion continues in part two.
- 40:13We'll be talking much more with Cathy,
- 40:16plus more questions from "Dance Moms" fans.
- 40:18Don't miss it.
- 40:19Good night, everybody.
- 40:20Enjoy.
- 40:21THEME SONG: Living on the dance floor.
- 40:25ABBY LEE MILLER (VOICEOVER): Next, on "Dance Moms"--
- 40:25What's your problem with me?
- 40:27You're doing the same thing to your kids
- 40:30that your mom and dad did to you.
- 40:31Maybe someday say, you know what, Paige,
- 40:33someday you will be able to be a Rockette.
- 40:35I've said it to her over and over and over again.
- 40:38The Candy Apple dancers have only beat Abby's group once.
- 40:42Could it be that she's just better than you?
- 40:44Um, hmm.
- 40:47Please welcome Kaya.
- 40:50I mean, from the day I walked in there, it's
- 40:52like you had an issue with me.
- 40:53I don't know why she would just
- 40:54get to walk in and be on it when there's other kids who have had
- 40:56to go through--
- 40:57Other kids don't have a resume like hers.
- 40:59We're going to have to just agree that we disagree.
- 41:01You've been crossing the line ever since the show started.
- 41:03All of you have.
- 41:05Don't let the door hit your [bleep] on the way out, then.
- 41:06But you are just one bitter bitch.
