- 0:00That's her Camry. That's her Camry, bro.
- 0:02Yeah, it's her vehicle.
- 0:06>> Some right here.
- 0:09>> What is that?
- 0:10That's a [ __ ] hand. Hey, there's a
- 0:12body over here.
- 0:14>> Holy [ __ ]
- 0:16>> What the?
- 0:17>> These officers have just found an
- 0:19abandoned car in a remote wooded area of
- 0:22Tallahassee, Florida. What they don't
- 0:24know yet is that this car is about to
- 0:27lead them to the torture house of a
- 0:30wanted serial killer.
- 0:33>> Put your hands up.
- 0:34>> Body. Body. Body.
- 0:36>> What if this turns out to be a
- 0:38>> um your question? Are we dealing with a
- 0:40serial killer? It looks that way.
- 0:43>> Inside the remote cabin in [music] the
- 0:45woods was the body of a missing mother.
- 0:48And the evidence suggested that the
- 0:50killer had escaped only minutes earlier,
- 0:52disappearing [music] into the forest.
- 0:54>> As soon as I opened up that door,
- 0:56somebody was smoking cigarettes in there
- 0:57not too long ago.
- 0:58>> But even more terrifying than a killer
- 1:00on the run was what remained hidden
- 1:02about 150 yard away. Under a pile of
- 1:06leaves in another wooded area was the
- 1:08decomposing body of his next victim.
- 1:12>> All right, dude. This is getting crazy,
- 1:13bro. And now the killer could already be
- 1:16searching for his next [music] victim.
- 1:20What began as a missing person report
- 1:22would within hours uncover a double
- 1:25murder, expose a violent repeat
- 1:27offender, and connect two cases that had
- 1:30seemed completely unrelated.
- 1:38It all began at around 5:00 p.m. on June
- 1:4013th. A middle-aged man contacted the
- 1:43Tallahassee Police Department to report
- 1:45one of his friends missing, a
- 1:4775-year-old woman named Victoria Sims.
- 1:50>> Tallahassee Police Department. If
- 1:52anyone's inside, make your presence
- 1:54known by side or sound. Tallahassee
- 1:56police. That ain't normal.
- 2:00>> Your call has been forwarded to an
- 2:01automatic.
- 2:02>> Victoria had not answered her phone for
- 2:04several [music] days, and her family had
- 2:06also been unable to reach her.
- 2:08>> When was the last time you talked to
- 2:09them?
- 2:10like a couple days ago. I don't know. I
- 2:11can't even I can't really remember. But
- 2:13>> it's okay.
- 2:14>> I called last night and it went
- 2:16straight. It like rain once barely at
- 2:18all on her house phone and straight
- 2:20voicemail which
- 2:21>> her house woman.
- 2:22>> Yeah, her house. I caught her cell
- 2:23phone.
- 2:24>> Hey, ma'am. Ma'am. Hey, don't go in
- 2:26there just yet.
- 2:27>> They're not answering.
- 2:28>> Just Just yet. Okay.
- 2:29>> The friend went to her house with
- 2:30Victoria's granddaughter where they
- 2:32found the front door partially open.
- 2:37We uh knocked on the door to see if she
- 2:39was already in and it pushed open, but
- 2:43um we were going to walk around to the
- 2:45back to look in the sliding glass door
- 2:47because that gave would give the best
- 2:49view of course.
- 2:49>> So you went in?
- 2:50>> I did.
- 2:51>> And you went in?
- 2:52>> Can someone contact her church? Just
- 2:54make absolutely sure that she's not on
- 2:55>> pastor right over there. Okay.
- 2:57>> And he's contacted a lot of people and
- 2:58they haven't heard from her days. No.
- 3:02That's what I'm saying. Somebody could
- 3:04have stained all that and could have put
- 3:06her paper in there on purpose, you know,
- 3:08so that it's not noticed. You know what
- 3:10I mean?
- 3:11>> Victoria was gone. Her car was missing
- 3:15and the house was in disarray. Ignoring
- 3:18calls or suddenly breaking from her
- 3:20normal routine was completely out of
- 3:22character for her. The apartment had not
- 3:24been completely ransacked. Most of it
- 3:26was still clean and organized, but parts
- 3:29of the living and dining areas appeared
- 3:31to have been deliberately searched.
- 3:33>> They let themselves inside and see that
- 3:34the TV and a laptop are missing as well
- 3:36as her vehicle. So, uh, looks like it's
- 3:39been tossed. If uh, we'll clear it real
- 3:42quick and uh, make sure it's not a seven
- 3:44issue or anything like that.
- 3:45>> The television stand had been knocked
- 3:47over and several items around it were
- 3:49scattered across the floor. The
- 3:51television itself [music] was gone and
- 3:53Victoria's laptop was also missing. Does
- 3:55>> she normally have a TV in there?
- 3:57>> Yeah. Yeah, it's gone. Somebody took it.
- 4:00You can't lift it. And what what I don't
- 4:02get is, you know, if my mom knew that
- 4:04she was in trouble, she'd offer anything
- 4:06like here, take my car. Take take
- 4:09whatever. Here's the money. You know,
- 4:12you know, she wouldn't she wouldn't have
- 4:13fought. She wouldn't have cared. The
- 4:15initial report mentioned no blood, no
- 4:17weapons, and no obvious signs of a
- 4:20struggle inside the apartment. There was
- 4:22also no sign of forced entry, and the
- 4:24safe under Victoria's bed had been left
- 4:26untouched. It was later discovered that
- 4:29an envelope containing [music] around
- 4:31$750 had also been taken from the house.
- 4:34These details suggested that the person
- 4:36who entered the home may have known
- 4:38exactly what they were looking for, and
- 4:40that this was not a random break-in.
- 4:43Hey, when you talked to her last, were
- 4:44there any concerns for her safety or
- 4:46anything?
- 4:46>> I think something must have happened
- 4:47Friday afternoon, evening, she always
- 4:49brought her car back and parked right
- 4:51there back then.
- 4:52>> She didn't even call my my news today.
- 4:55It's her birthday. We should have done
- 4:56that.
- 4:57>> The newspaper from the morning of June
- 4:5813th was still sitting outside her door,
- 5:01while the newspaper from the previous
- 5:03day, dated June 12th, was found on the
- 5:05dining table inside the house. This
- 5:08[snorts] suggested that Victoria had
- 5:10likely collected her newspaper and
- 5:11returned inside on the morning of June
- 5:1412th. But by the following morning, she
- 5:16was no longer there to pick up the next
- 5:18one.
- 5:20Because of the missing items, the entire
- 5:22house was sealed off as [music] a crime
- 5:24scene with several possibilities still
- 5:26on the table, including kidnapping and
- 5:28robbery. What they didn't know was that
- 5:31the man responsible for Victoria's
- 5:33disappearance was already preparing to
- 5:35leave Tallahassee.
- 5:39Um, I know you're under a lot of stress
- 5:41right now. We're uh working a lot of
- 5:43different angles to try and find your
- 5:44mom. Um, but it's really important
- 5:46nobody goes in there right now if we can
- 5:48help it. Okay.
- 5:48>> Has she had any sort of disagreement
- 5:50with anyone?
- 5:51>> No. I like I said, I'm worried about
- 5:53that guy. I think I did their name my
- 5:56nephew's friend and he contacted her or
- 6:01texted her something. I can't remember
- 6:03what the saying said. It said something
- 6:05about, "Hi, Miss Vicky. How are you? You
- 6:07know, I'm hoping you're doing good last
- 6:10day.
- 6:10>> During those conversations, Victoria's
- 6:12daughter mentioned a detail that did not
- 6:14initially seem significant. Within
- 6:17hours, it would become one of the most
- 6:18important leads in the case.
- 6:20>> She has a Hold on where you run away
- 6:22from me. She has a trailer that she's
- 6:24trying to sell.
- 6:25>> Yeah. Well, it's in her name, but it's
- 6:27>> But do you live there?
- 6:28>> No. No, I don't live.
- 6:29>> Have you checked it to see if she
- 6:33We're trying to fix it up and
- 6:36Um, but anyway, the other day I notice I
- 6:38looked at cuz I was trying to help her
- 6:39out with the phone.
- 6:40>> She's not very good at
- 6:43and uh it was a weird text message from
- 6:45this kid who's my my cous my nephew's
- 6:48>> friend supposedly. I don't know his
- 6:50name. I don't know anything about him,
- 6:52but my mom said that he's a pretty good
- 6:53kid. Okay.
- 6:54>> Or a guy who she doesn't say kids. I
- 6:56don't know if it's a man. I'm sorry for
- 6:57my phone.
- 6:58>> Now, this is Who' you say this was? What
- 7:01friend?
- 7:01>> My nephew's and he's in jail right now.
- 7:03>> Your nephew's in jail? Yeah. And she was
- 7:06even going to have him come and help out
- 7:08with the trailer. She said he's a good
- 7:09guy. I'm just hoping she's visiting him.
- 7:12Can we Is there any way you can find
- 7:13that out?
- 7:14>> Do we have an address?
- 7:16>> We'll call the county jail.
- 7:17>> Oh. Oh, yeah. Oh, I thought she was
- 7:18talking about this friend.
- 7:19>> She visited him today, you know, and
- 7:21maybe she doesn't know anything about
- 7:22But what worries me is the phone's been
- 7:24off the hook is what I'm guessing.
- 7:26>> Family members had seen messages on
- 7:28Victoria's phone from an unknown man.
- 7:31Victoria had told them that the sender
- 7:33was a friend of one of her grandchildren
- 7:35and that he was a good person. He was
- 7:38also the last [music] person known to
- 7:39have called Victoria. When her family
- 7:41tried calling on the night of June 12th,
- 7:43the phone rang only once before going to
- 7:45voicemail. Officers checked nearby
- 7:48hospitals, searched the places Victoria
- 7:50regularly visited and reviewed recent
- 7:52[music] calls connected to her and her
- 7:54car.
- 7:55Victoria was entered into missing person
- 7:57databases and a bolo was issued for her
- 8:00white Toyota Camry. But while officers
- 8:02were working on Victoria's case, this
- 8:04was not the only missing person
- 8:06investigation in Teleahassee.
- 8:09One week earlier, police had also
- 8:11received a report that another [music]
- 8:12person was missing. 19-year-old Black
- 8:15Lives Matter activist Oluatoyan Salo.
- 8:19Black matter matter
- 8:22matter.
- 8:24>> No, can't nobody silence me. Wherever
- 8:26the I go, I'm profile. Look at mying
- 8:30hair. Look at my skin, bro. I can't take
- 8:33it off. So guess what? I'mma fly about
- 8:35it. You cannot take my blackness away
- 8:38from me. My blackness
- 8:39[cheering and applause] is not for your
- 8:41consumption. Continuing coverage tonight
- 8:43on the search for a missing [music]
- 8:44activist. A group canvasing areas
- 8:47tonight where she was last believed to
- 8:49have
- 8:49>> who had been active in several local
- 8:52Black Lives Matter protests was declared
- 8:54missing on Tuesday, June 9th.
- 8:57>> Toyen was last seen on the evening of
- 8:59Friday, June 5th, at a protest with
- 9:01several of her friends. At some point,
- 9:04she said she wanted to get some air and
- 9:05walked away from the group. When she did
- 9:08not return, two of her friends searched
- 9:10for her for around 2 hours. The next
- 9:13morning, at about 8:00 a.m. on June 6th,
- 9:16one of her friends went to the police
- 9:17department in person to [music] report
- 9:19her missing. According to later
- 9:21accounts, police said that because the
- 9:23friend was not an immediate family
- 9:24member, they could not file an official
- 9:26missing person report. So, Toyen's
- 9:29friends began searching for her on their
- 9:30own that same day.
- 9:32>> We're wondering if you've seen her. Her
- 9:34family officially reported her missing
- 9:36on June 7th. At the same time, police
- 9:38already had another report connected to
- 9:40Toyen. On June 6th, she had contacted
- 9:43them to report that she had been
- 9:44sexually assaulted earlier that morning.
- 9:47According to police, [music] while they
- 9:49were following up on that report, her
- 9:51family informed them that Toyen had
- 9:53disappeared.
- 9:54Investigators first contacted her
- 9:56friends, people she knew, local support
- 9:58centers, and places where they believed
- 10:00she may have been staying. On June 10th,
- 10:03police released an official missing
- 10:05person notice and asked the [music]
- 10:06public for help. After that, Toyian's
- 10:09friends and the Tallahassee Community
- 10:10Action Committee organized larger
- 10:12community searches to find her.
- 10:15While Tallahassee police were dealing
- 10:17with two missing person cases that
- 10:19appeared completely [music] unrelated,
- 10:20someone close to Victoria gave them an
- 10:22important piece of information.
- 10:24>> She's an elderly lady, but she's so nice
- 10:26and she's so scribbed. The only thing I
- 10:29think of is is a soft point was her
- 10:31grandson. and he was like,
- 10:32>> "He's in jail in Mola County right now."
- 10:34>> I I know, but I'm just saying like when
- 10:36I I used to run this as an Airbnb and
- 10:38now I just I I live in here cuz I sell
- 10:41in my house, but like he would sit on my
- 10:44bench when somebody cuz I wasn't rented
- 10:46all the time. He would sit on that bench
- 10:47and he would smoke. And then like one
- 10:49time I had guests come up and he had
- 10:51left his parole paper on my bench. So
- 10:54the guest called me and said, "Oh my
- 10:56god, my own this isn't a safe place for
- 10:57me to live or to stay because somebody's
- 11:00somebody left their parole." And so I
- 11:02told Miss I, I said, "You got to tell
- 11:04them to stop sitting on my bench." And
- 11:06then the next time I came, there was one
- 11:07of those medical marijuana things that
- 11:09he'd been sitting up there smoking. So
- 11:11anyway, I said, "Miss Vicki, do not let
- 11:14him up on my property." And she's like,
- 11:16"Okay, okay, okay." So he was he was I
- 11:19think he was a problem but she you know
- 11:21she loved him and she was a he was a
- 11:23soft spot for her. So the only thing I
- 11:25can think of and he used to have friends
- 11:27over here when he lived here so and now
- 11:30he's in jail but is the only thing I'm
- 11:32thinking of cuz she was very careful.
- 11:34She wouldn't open the door like actually
- 11:36I I flip houses. So when I was working
- 11:38on that I put a peepphole in there and
- 11:40my guys put a peepphole for me. Okay.
- 11:43So, she used that peepphole and I even
- 11:45measured it so she could see out it. Um,
- 11:48and she wouldn't open that door
- 11:49>> for strangers.
- 11:50>> Yeah. She had to recognize them.
- 11:52>> So, maybe it was one of his friends,
- 11:56>> druggy friends or you know, burglary
- 11:59friends and and she that I I just don't
- 12:02believe she'd open the door to somebody
- 12:03she didn't know.
- 12:05>> She said that she and Victoria had been
- 12:07helping a man named Aaron. He knew
- 12:10Victoria's grandson lived on Monday Road
- 12:13and sometimes received food, rent money,
- 12:15or help with transportation from
- 12:17Victoria. Victoria had always tried to
- 12:19help him. Using this information, police
- 12:22[music] identified the man as Aaron Lee
- 12:24Glee Jr., but this was not the first
- 12:27time police had heard his name.
- 12:30Less than 2 weeks earlier in May, Glee
- 12:32had been arrested after an officer
- 12:34happened to see him assaulting a young
- 12:35woman who had [music] rejected his
- 12:37sexual advances. The officer saw Glee
- 12:40kick the woman in the stomach and when
- 12:42police stepped in, Glee also assaulted
- 12:44the officer. Now that the investigators
- 12:46knew about his violent history,
- 12:48especially towards women, [music] their
- 12:50concern for Victoria grew even stronger.
- 12:52More officers were assigned to the case.
- 12:54According to one report, at around 8:30
- 12:57that night, an officer was sent out to
- 12:59help with the investigation and searched
- 13:01several locations for Victoria's
- 13:02registered Camry, but could not find it.
- 13:05A search team and a K-9 unit were also
- 13:07called to Victoria's apartment complex.
- 13:10The plan was to begin a ground search
- 13:12from South Blairstone [music] Road.
- 13:14Using a legal order, police obtained
- 13:16both the historical and live location
- 13:18data from Victoria's phone. The record
- 13:20showed that on the morning of June 12th,
- 13:22[music] her phone was still near her
- 13:24apartment. At around 9:00 a.m., it began
- 13:26moving away from the apartment and
- 13:28toward Monday Road. After that, the
- 13:30phone remained inside a residential area
- 13:33surrounded by woods. I'm a Russell
- 13:35Monday court.
- 13:37>> After receiving the phone ping, the K9
- 13:39search around Victoria's apartment was
- 13:41stopped [music] and officers were
- 13:42redirected to 2110 Monday Road for a
- 13:45tactical approach. Glee's cabin was
- 13:48located around 350 ft inside the woods.
- 13:52The thick vegetation around the property
- 13:54gave him plenty of places to hide and
- 13:56made the operation even more dangerous.
- 14:09There's a car right there. Wait,
- 14:12>> that's our Camry. That's our Camry, bro.
- 14:15>> All right, dude. This is getting crazy,
- 14:16bro.
- 14:17>> Vehicle.
- 14:18>> I really don't like if he could be
- 14:19anywhere out here. Um, can we get K9
- 14:22here and see if they can
- 14:31As officers [music] moved toward the
- 14:33cabin, they spotted Victoria's white
- 14:35Camry parked northeast of the building.
- 14:37Victoria's car was stuck in the mud with
- 14:40a wooden board placed under one of the
- 14:42tires. Tire changing tools were found
- 14:44inside [music] the vehicle, showing that
- 14:46someone had tried to free it. A white
- 14:49sheet had been placed over the [music]
- 14:50rear of the car, and the license plate
- 14:52had been bent upward to hide the number.
- 14:54>> Was that a tarp trying to cover it?
- 14:57Looks like some type of canvas. Back up.
- 14:58He
- 14:59>> folded up a tag.
- 15:01>> There's a trail that goes down there.
- 15:03>> The car had been abandoned beside Glee's
- 15:06cabin. While officers were searching the
- 15:08area around the property, they suddenly
- 15:10heard a phone ringing nearby.
- 15:18>> The ringing led them to a trash
- 15:19container outside the house where
- 15:21Victoria's phone and identification had
- 15:24been discarded.
- 15:38the door.
- 15:39>> We are breaching.
- 15:41>> All right, come out. Watch this. Watch
- 15:43this window right here.
- 15:53>> Tell us. Come out with your hands up
- 15:58police department. COME OUT WITH YOUR
- 15:59HANDS UP.
- 16:00>> I'M going to I'm going to take this
- 16:02corner. You're going to cover left.
- 16:03Okay,
- 16:06Dallas. Police department. Come out with
- 16:08your hands up. All right, we're clear
- 16:10back here. [music] It's just a kitchen.
- 16:13Smells like fresh cigarettes in here.
- 16:14>> Yeah.
- 16:15>> All right, coming out. We just have that
- 16:16one one room right there. Come your
- 16:18hands up.
- 16:23>> Body. Body. Body. All right. Body. Got
- 16:26it. Got it. I got it. All right.
- 16:28>> In the northwest bedroom, they found
- 16:31Victoria.
- 16:33>> Are you kidding me?
- 16:34>> Wow.
- 16:34>> Oh my god. This is Oh my gosh.
- 16:38>> She was lying face down and her body was
- 16:41covered with a white blanket that was
- 16:42heavily soaked [music] in blood.
- 16:44Victoria's hands and feet had been tied
- 16:46behind her back. At the time her body
- 16:49was discovered, [music] the exact cause
- 16:50of death was still unknown, but the
- 16:53autopsy later revealed a deep cut across
- 16:55her neck measuring about 7 in wide and
- 16:58nearly 2 and 1/2 in deep. The medical
- 17:00examiner ruled that Victoria died from
- 17:02blood loss caused by the wound [music]
- 17:04to her neck. Her death was officially
- 17:06ruled a homicide. Now Victoria's family
- 17:10had to face the worst possible news.
- 17:13>> Oh, it's okay.
- 17:22Where is she?
- 17:23>> I can't tell you where she is right now.
- 17:27I'm so sorry.
- 17:28>> No.
- 17:31>> I'm sorry. Those
- 17:44are questions we want to help you
- 17:45answer. And that's why it's important we
- 17:47hold the scene like we are.
- 17:50[crying]
- 17:58My mom.
- 18:13>> We got to get We got to get her out of
- 18:14[music] these ants.
- 18:16>> He's got He's got He's
- 18:22Why?
- 18:24>> Why would people chase me?
- 18:27Who? How can you do that?
- 18:40[music]
- 18:48But back at the cabin, officers were
- 18:50facing a serious problem. Glee was not
- 18:53[music] inside the house and officers
- 18:54did not yet know whether he was still
- 18:56hiding somewhere nearby.
- 18:58>> Let's let's make sure everything is
- 19:00legit clear in here.
- 19:02>> What What do we have?
- 19:03>> I'm I'm alive.
- 19:04>> I am too. We went in there to clear the
- 19:06house on the back far bedroom. There's a
- 19:09girl with a blanket over her. We pulled
- 19:11it up. Her hands are tied behind her
- 19:12back. Her feet are tied and she has
- 19:14blood gushing from her head.
- 19:15>> It looks like
- 19:16>> and just flies all around her. Looks
- 19:17like execution style.
- 19:19>> Wow. Her hands were tied and there's a
- 19:21big pile of
- 19:22>> blood and he's maybe in the attic. We
- 19:24clear the house.
- 19:24>> There's cobwebs on there and there's
- 19:26smell of smoke in it. I say it's
- 19:27probably about an hour or two hours old.
- 19:29>> So, as soon as I open up that door,
- 19:32somebody smoking cigarettes in there not
- 19:33too long ago.
- 19:34>> Yeah. So, I'll tell you what, Paul, you
- 19:37go take a couple of these guys. Let's go
- 19:38up to this house. Take actually all
- 19:40three of these guys.
- 19:40>> Yep.
- 19:41>> Let's go up to this house and see if we
- 19:42can find this.
- 19:44>> Aaron Glee.
- 19:44>> Hang on. We got to
- 19:45>> JC. Can you come up with me? We're going
- 19:47to go to this house and see if we air
- 19:49and glee. We need one more.
- 19:50>> Hey, Sabo.
- 19:51>> Sabo, come on.
- 19:52>> K9 teams began searching [music] the
- 19:54surrounding woods and checking
- 19:56neighboring homes.
- 19:59>> Can't really talk about it right now.
- 20:01>> Huh?
- 20:01>> Can't really talk about it right now.
- 20:04>> Anybody got killed or nothing?
- 20:05>> No, your neighbor down.
- 20:07>> Yeah, you know his name.
- 20:09>> No, I don't know his name. Nothing.
- 20:13>> Okay, one more stay here. Just be
- 20:16careful.
- 20:17>> Okay. Um, somebody else come to the door
- 20:19with me.
- 20:20>> Tell us police.
- 20:22>> Hello.
- 20:23>> Hey, we're looking for Aaron.
- 20:25>> He's not here.
- 20:25>> Do you know where he might be?
- 20:26>> In the back. He lives in the back.
- 20:28>> Okay. You haven't seen him lately?
- 20:29>> No.
- 20:30>> Um, earlier he was walking up and down
- 20:33the road earlier today.
- 20:34>> Okay. What's your name?
- 20:35>> My name is Valerie.
- 20:36>> Valerie, what's your name?
- 20:37>> Danielle.
- 20:38>> Miss Valerie, can I talk to you for a
- 20:40minute?
- 20:40>> Sure.
- 20:41>> Do you mind if we check your house just
- 20:43to make sure he's not in there? We don't
- 20:44believe that you are harboring him in
- 20:46any way, but we need to talk to him for
- 20:47a very serious incident. Um
- 20:49>> Oh my god.
- 20:50>> Yeah. So, can can they just walk
- 20:52through? They're not going to like go
- 20:54through like and look for small things.
- 20:55>> He's trying to sleep. He has to get up
- 20:56to go to work in the morning.
- 20:58>> Okay. This is very important. That's
- 20:59okay.
- 21:01>> Really?
- 21:02>> Huh? What? They want to look in the
- 21:05house and make sure he's
- 21:06>> I have kids in the house. You're not
- 21:07going there to scare them.
- 21:08>> The woman living in the house next to
- 21:10Glee's cabin initially refused to let
- 21:12officers inside. She had no idea that if
- 21:15this dangerous man had managed to sneak
- 21:17into her home, he was a far greater
- 21:19threat to her children than anything
- 21:21outside.
- 21:22>> Yeah, I have small children.
- 21:23>> If you'd like to walk them out, that's
- 21:25fine. Is there a way that we can do this
- 21:27without scaring your children? We do not
- 21:28want to scare your children. I promise
- 21:29you, that's the last thing we want to
- 21:31do. There's just certain things that we
- 21:33we have to to check off in this. And we
- 21:35don't want to surround your house for
- 21:36the for an untold mountain amount of
- 21:39time. We will. You tell me if you can
- 21:43think of a way that we can do this
- 21:44without scaring your children. I'm okay
- 21:46with it. As long as it's safe for us.
- 21:49>> They want to know if the guy that came
- 21:50here look earlier looking for him. What
- 21:53did he have on? The older guy.
- 21:55>> He was a older guy with just shorts and
- 21:57a shirt on.
- 21:58>> Okay. So, he wasn't a police officer.
- 22:00>> Oh, I don't know cuz I didn't actually
- 22:02come to the door and open the door.
- 22:03>> Okay. All right.
- 22:04>> When when I looked out the window, he
- 22:06was looking in the mailbox. As I told
- 22:07him, the guy he was looking for does not
- 22:09live here.
- 22:10>> And he was looking for someone in the
- 22:12back.
- 22:12>> Okay.
- 22:13>> That's when he walked out there to the
- 22:14mailbox and looked in his mailbox. And
- 22:16then that's when I seen that it was a
- 22:18white guy and shorts and a shirt.
- 22:21>> What What color was the shirt?
- 22:22>> I think yellow.
- 22:23>> Color of the shorts.
- 22:24>> Like khaki.
- 22:25>> Okay.
- 22:26>> That's the neighborhood. That's the
- 22:28neighboring scene.
- 22:30Meanwhile, the rest of the K9 team
- 22:32searching the woods for Aaron came
- 22:34across something they never expected to
- 22:37find.
- 22:39>> I don't know if it's in my clothes cuz I
- 22:40was in that house for so long, but it it
- 22:42stinks out here.
- 22:45>> Huh?
- 22:46>> $10 bill right here.
- 22:48>> No. [music]
- 22:49>> Yeah, $10 bill right here.
- 22:52>> There's some right here.
- 22:55>> What is that? That's a hand. Hey,
- 22:59there's a body over here.
- 23:00>> Holy [ __ ]
- 23:02>> What the
- 23:05500 units at on Monday? We have a body
- 23:08in the woods.
- 23:09[panting and sighs]
- 23:10[snorts]
- 23:12>> I don't know. The hand right there.
- 23:19>> Oh, maybe. I don't know.
- 23:21>> About 35 yd from Victoria's car, the K9
- 23:24team [music] found a $10 bill on the
- 23:25ground. They continued roughly another h
- 23:27100red yards into the woods before
- 23:30finding the body of a young woman hidden
- 23:32beneath leaves
- 23:33>> back straight from the car back into the
- 23:36woods. It's covered in leaves. Hard to
- 23:39say race and sex right now. Um I believe
- 23:43it's a black male or black female. There
- 23:47skin slippage.
- 23:49>> Her appearance matched Toyen's
- 23:51description. The condition of her body
- 23:53suggested she had been dead for several
- 23:55days. Her hands, feet, and neck had been
- 23:58restrained in an unusual configuration.
- 24:01The medical examiner later determined
- 24:03that she died from asphixxiation caused
- 24:05by the restraints around her neck and
- 24:07limbs.
- 24:08>> What if this turns out to be a serial?
- 24:10>> Well, the FBI class designates two or
- 24:12[music] more, but state whatever
- 24:14classifies as three or more for cereal.
- 24:18It's pretty close time range though for
- 24:20that one to be as fresh as it is. Let me
- 24:21get that one. It's interesting that it'd
- 24:23be so fast cuz that's not that all that
- 24:26old.
- 24:27>> Um, your question, are we dealing with
- 24:29serial killer?
- 24:31>> It looks that way.
- 24:32>> Hey, Brent, do you want to continue?
- 24:35>> Okay, let's go.
- 24:36>> With Toyen's body found, the K9 team
- 24:38continues searching the area while
- 24:40dozens of officers enter another
- 24:42abandoned cabin nearby, hoping to find
- 24:44any sign of Aaron.
- 24:46>> Got the first two on this. Want to make
- 24:47sure I get the third. If there's a
- 24:48third, I guess. No. Hey. Hey. Just
- 24:51>> yeah, keep in mind that they're still
- 24:52he's still at large. And the reason we
- 24:54pulled out is because it's our tactical
- 24:57disadvantage of going into the woods. He
- 24:59just met around here, but we look I
- 25:01mean, we searched this area good. When
- 25:02we came here the first time, we kept
- 25:03looking. I'm like, dude, there's got to
- 25:04be another one close by. I've got a
- 25:06stairwell over here. Where's the other
- 25:08trailer at to the right? Yeah, we're we
- 25:10walked northeast and we have [music] two
- 25:13trailers. One kind of to the left and
- 25:14one off more to the east to the right.
- 25:17Palace Police Department, if you're
- 25:18inside the house, call out now. Police,
- 25:21if you're inside or nearby, call out
- 25:24now.
- 25:32>> Police department, call out.
- 25:37>> Open door rear.
- 25:40Looks pretty clear from here. With two
- 25:43bodies now connected to Glee's property
- 25:45and Glee still unaccounted for, officers
- 25:48began checking anyone who might be in
- 25:50immediate danger. Without wasting any
- 25:52time, officers reviewed his records and
- 25:54discovered that a woman named Oracastro
- 25:57had a restraining order against him.
- 25:59Because of their violent history,
- 26:00officers rushed to her home to conduct a
- 26:02welfare check.
- 26:03>> Hey, is Miss Castro here?
- 26:06>> Who?
- 26:06>> Miss Castro?
- 26:09>> I don't know. What?
- 26:10>> I just want to check on her, make sure
- 26:11she was all right. It's an old case.
- 26:13Anybody else here with her?
- 26:16>> Huh?
- 26:18>> Awesome. I want to make sure she's okay.
- 26:23>> I'm in.
- 26:23>> Hey, Aura. Hey,
- 26:26[music] you make sure you covered up.
- 26:27Anybody else with you?
- 26:29>> No.
- 26:29>> Can I talk to you for a minute?
- 26:30>> Yep.
- 26:31>> Okay. You want to step outside? Step in
- 26:32here. What do you want to do?
- 26:33>> Go in there. Go in there. Go in there.
- 26:37>> What's wrong?
- 26:38>> Go in there. Have you heard from Aaron
- 26:40recently?
- 26:41>> Um, no I haven't. I have the police
- 26:44report.
- 26:46>> Well, no. I I I sent in a report
- 26:51but I wanted to um
- 26:54I did um
- 26:56>> drop charges.
- 26:57>> No, no, no. To
- 27:01what's it called? I'm sorry. because he
- 27:05was sleeping um for for you know like uh
- 27:11so he couldn't be with him
- 27:13>> an injunction.
- 27:14>> Yeah.
- 27:14>> Let me ask you a question. You have your
- 27:16phone?
- 27:17>> Uh can you give me his number?
- 27:20>> I I don't have his number and I'm under
- 27:24the impression that he's still in
- 27:28jail.
- 27:30>> He's not.
- 27:31>> He's not. That frightens me
- 27:33>> and that's the reason I'm here checking
- 27:35on you. What was y'all's encounter
- 27:36together though? Why were y'all
- 27:37encountering each other?
- 27:38>> I I I was looking for um I I I took the
- 27:44bus to go to Walmart
- 27:47>> and to go shopping, but he he freaking
- 27:51>> beat the poop out of me.
- 27:53>> I got you.
- 27:54>> And I'm I'm I'm
- 27:57strong. I I I beat my husband down. I
- 28:01hope this [music] big man.
- 28:04>> Ora was visibly traumatized. Her account
- 28:07gave officers additional context [music]
- 28:08about Glee's previous violence towards
- 28:10women and suggested that bus stops may
- 28:13have been one of the places where he
- 28:14approached them. Just like the last
- 28:16place Toin had been seen, Aura had also
- 28:19been targeted at a bus stop. [music]
- 28:20This appeared to be Glee's pattern.
- 28:23>> Yeah, I got you.
- 28:23>> I want them to do is an area search.
- 28:25>> I got you. Okay. Yeah. Over the next
- 28:28several hours, the search for Aaron
- 28:30intensified.
- 28:33He was a ruthless killer, but he was not
- 28:35the smartest. Once he realized police
- 28:37were searching for both women and had
- 28:40connected the case to him, he tried to
- 28:42escape using Victoria's stolen car.
- 28:44After killing Victoria, Glee drove her
- 28:46Toyota toward the woods near the
- 28:48location of Toyen's body, but the car
- 28:50became stuck in the mud and he was
- 28:52unable to get out. Hey. Um, I got he he
- 28:56might have already hopped shipped and
- 28:57went somewhere. I got
- 28:59>> West Palm.
- 29:00>> He's going to West Palm.
- 29:04>> By the time officers reached Monday
- 29:06Road, Glee had already left Tallahassee
- 29:08with no suitcase or significant luggage.
- 29:11He went to the Greyhound station and
- 29:12paid cash for a one-way ticket to West
- 29:15Palm Beach, where members of his family
- 29:17lived.
- 29:18>> They're going they're calling Orlando PD
- 29:20right now to see what they would prefer.
- 29:22After making a stop in Okala, the bus
- 29:24arrived at the Greyhound Terminal in
- 29:26Orlando late that night. It was
- 29:28scheduled to continue toward West Palm
- 29:30Beach at around 12:45 a.m. on June 14th,
- 29:33shortly after 12:30 a.m. Orlando police
- 29:36located Glee inside the Greyhound
- 29:38Terminal, only minutes before the bus
- 29:40was scheduled to continue toward West
- 29:41Palm Beach. He never made it to West
- 29:44Palm Beach.
- 29:47After his arrest, Glee complained of
- 29:49chest pain and difficulty breathing. So
- 29:51instead of being taken directly to jail,
- 29:53he was transported to a hospital. But
- 29:55during phone calls with his mother and
- 29:57stepfather, calls captured on police
- 29:59body cam, he gradually admitted that he
- 30:02had [music] taken two lives. He also
- 30:04told the officers guarding him that he
- 30:06had killed two women in Tallahassee. Now
- 30:09that Glee had finally been found and
- 30:11arrested, many questions still remained.
- 30:14What was the real motive behind these
- 30:16murders? And how were the two cases
- 30:18[music] connected?
- 30:20her up in that same manner where she was
- 30:22on her fell with her arms and her legs
- 30:24behind her.
- 30:25>> Yes,
- 30:26>> that was just even when you had to go to
- 30:28the store. That was how you tie her up.
- 30:31>> How long she locked down?
- 30:33>> See, I can't give you a definite answer
- 30:35because it's all happens on time.
- 30:39>> I don't
- 30:39>> I didn't keep her I didn't keep her in
- 30:42there more than what one day.
- 30:45>> So, she was still alive overnight.
- 30:47>> Maybe. I don't know. When you say maybe,
- 30:50is it you think because of the position
- 30:51that she was in that she couldn't
- 30:53breathe?
- 30:55>> I don't know. I'm just It happened so
- 30:57fast when I did it.
- 31:00>> On the evening of June 6th, Toyen took a
- 31:02city bus to the Walmart area on
- 31:04Appalache Parkway. After getting off,
- 31:06she sat at a nearby bus stop. That was
- 31:09where Aaron Glee approached her and
- 31:11started a conversation. Toyen told him
- 31:13that she had been sexually assaulted
- 31:14earlier that day and had nowhere safe to
- 31:16stay. Glee offered her a place to shower
- 31:19and rest at his house. Toyen accepted
- 31:22believing he was trying to help her. But
- 31:24after they arrived, Glee tried to have
- 31:26sex with her. When Toyian refused and
- 31:28fought back, he overpowered and her.
- 31:31Glee later admitted that he knew Toyen
- 31:33would report him if he had let her go.
- 31:35So he decided to kill her to avoid being
- 31:37arrested. He tied her hands and feet
- 31:40behind her back and connected the
- 31:41restraints to one around her neck. The
- 31:43pressure caused her to suffocate.
- 31:45Afterward, Glee placed her body inside a
- 31:47green recycling bin, moved it into the
- 31:49woods behind the property, and covered
- 31:51it with leaves and branches to hide it.
- 31:54But how did Victoria Sims become
- 31:55involved, and why was she killed? The
- 31:58answer comes from surveillance footage,
- 32:00phone records, and Glee's confession.
- 32:02>> It was Vicky. I can't remember if I
- 32:05called her or she called me.
- 32:07She said something.
- 32:14That's what happened with her.
- 32:15>> She said she called me a nag or
- 32:17something and I just stopped.
- 32:19>> On June 6th, after meeting Toyen at a
- 32:22bus stop, Glee had no way to take her
- 32:24home, so he called Victoria for a ride.
- 32:26Surveillance footage shows Toyen and
- 32:28Glee getting into Victoria's white
- 32:30Toyota around 7:07 p.m. That made
- 32:32Victoria the last known independent
- 32:34witness to see Toyen alive with Glee.
- 32:37Over the next several days, Glee held
- 32:38Toyen captive and eventually killed her.
- 32:41Then on June 12th, he spoke with
- 32:44Victoria again. Their final call lasted
- 32:46about 2 minutes, [music] and soon
- 32:48afterward, Victoria went to his home on
- 32:50Monday Road. No one knows exactly what
- 32:52Glee told her, but he likely asked for
- 32:54help or transportation just as he had
- 32:56before. Once she arrived, he restrained
- 32:59her, tied her hands and feet behind her
- 33:01back, and cut her throat. The evidence
- 33:04suggests Victoria was killed for several
- 33:06reasons. She could connect Glee to
- 33:08Twain's disappearance. She had a car he
- 33:10needed to escape, and Glee knew she had
- 33:13money and valuable belongings. Victoria
- 33:15had trusted Glee and tried to help him.
- 33:18In the end, that trust made her both a
- 33:20witness and a target. But the most
- 33:22painful part is what happened just
- 33:24before Victoria was killed. Realizing
- 33:27what Glee intended to do, she apparently
- 33:29tried to save herself by offering him
- 33:31money. She told him about the cash
- 33:33inside her apartment, which may explain
- 33:35how he knew about the envelope
- 33:37containing around $750
- 33:39and where it was kept. That envelope,
- 33:41along with her laptop, television, and
- 33:43other belongings, was later taken from
- 33:46her home. But the offer did not save
- 33:48her. According to his confession and the
- 33:50medical evidence, he tied Victoria
- 33:53inside the bedroom, covered her head,
- 33:55hank her throat, with a knife. He then
- 33:57went to her apartment and stole the
- 33:59money and other valuable items. Less
- 34:02than a week before he met Toyen, Glee
- 34:04had been released on bond after an
- 34:06officer saw him kicking a woman who
- 34:07rejected his dual [music] advances.
- 34:10Within days, Toyen and Victoria were
- 34:13dead. In June 2023, Glee pleaded guilty,
- 34:16[music] avoiding a possible death
- 34:18sentence. On September 22nd, he received
- 34:21two consecutive life sentences without
- 34:23the possibility of parole. The sentence
- 34:26permanently removed him from the public,
- 34:28but it came 3 years too late for two
- 34:30women whose willingness to trust and to
- 34:32help was used against them.
