- 0:00people dislike me because I don't give a
- 0:02I'm going to tell the truth. You know
- 0:03what the difference between the
- 0:04conspiracy and the truth is? Time. I was
- 0:06emotionally unavailable. I think for
- 0:08those those seven or eight years because
- 0:09I'd met the person that changed my life
- 0:11and after that I just poured everything
- 0:13I had into football. And that's how it
- 0:15goes for all these people, you know, who
- 0:16who have issues with me. Uh especially
- 0:19the two past teammates. Like if you're
- 0:20only relevant when you mention my name,
- 0:22like you should check yourself. If I
- 0:24could have one wish, God please in this
- 0:26world, great spirit, whoever's up there.
- 0:32>> We're going into Aaron Rogers story now.
- 0:35And Aaron now, um, you lived a lot of
- 0:39lives in 21 years. You're one of the
- 0:41most talked about people when it not
- 0:43only comes to football, but in the
- 0:45country. How do you feel about being so
- 0:48controversial in terms of the media?
- 0:52I feel like there's a ton of hypocrisy
- 0:53out there. You know, everybody loved,
- 0:56you know, loved hearing about my takes
- 0:58on Colin Kaepernick when I said he was
- 1:00one of the top 64 quarterbacks in the
- 1:02league. Um, they loved my takes about
- 1:06when there was uh a shooting that
- 1:09occurred years and years ago was during
- 1:11Obama's presidency. Um, somebody yelled
- 1:14out some anti-Muslim rhetoric during the
- 1:17moment of silence, which I thought was
- 1:19so disrespectful. And I said after the
- 1:21game, the first thing I said was there's
- 1:23no place for that kind of hate in this
- 1:25world. Regardless of what happened, what
- 1:28you think happened. First of all, most
- 1:31of the stuff like we're lied to every
- 1:34single day. So like don't even get me
- 1:36started on that thing. But I I said
- 1:38something about that and and President
- 1:39Obama sent me a handwritten note
- 1:42>> afterwards.
- 1:44And nobody, you know, everybody loved
- 1:46that part. They enjoyed my takes. Mina
- 1:48Kims, you know, had me to her house for
- 1:51a feature that I did, you know, like all
- 1:54these people were my friends in the
- 1:55media until I came out against co and
- 1:59said, "I'm not going to stand for
- 2:00thising,
- 2:03you know, and and now after everything
- 2:05has came out, all they can say is, "Oh,
- 2:07well, you lied about it." You know,
- 2:09that's it's like when when somebody has
- 2:11an argument and all they can ever say is
- 2:13they can they attack your character
- 2:15instead of the content of what you're
- 2:17actually saying. You know that you're
- 2:19actually on the right side of things.
- 2:21And I've said many times when I said I
- 2:24was
- 2:25immunized, it was because that statement
- 2:28alone was the crux of my entire argument
- 2:31and ongoing appeal with the NFL around
- 2:33my vaccination status. Not to mention
- 2:35the hypocrisy around the treatment of
- 2:37players that were nonvaxed. the uh the
- 2:40inhumane way that we were treated as
- 2:42secondhand citizens around the facility.
- 2:44The way that we couldn't do anything on
- 2:46the road, all the six feet of
- 2:48distancing that Fouchy in his own words
- 2:50and his diaries it said was all made up.
- 2:53Fouchy chasing the fame. He's a he's an
- 2:56absolute my opinion criminal. If you
- 2:59read Bobby Kennedy's book about him and
- 3:01what he did in the in the 80s around
- 3:02AIDS, if you watch Dallas Buyers Club,
- 3:04do you know who the villain was in that
- 3:06movie? Dr. Anthony Fouchy. If Bobby
- 3:08Kennedy said any lies now, don't you
- 3:10think he'd be sued for liel?
- 3:12But it goes through the entire history
- 3:14of what he's done as the highest paid,
- 3:17you know, government worker. And I'm
- 3:20here on the phone with uh with the head
- 3:24doctor at the NFL, and he's calling me a
- 3:26conspiracy theorist. When I when I asked
- 3:28him I asked him, "Hey, uh you know, if
- 3:32you get the vax, can you contract or uh
- 3:35or spread the disease?" He said, "No." I
- 3:36said, 'Well, tell me this then, doc. Day
- 3:39one I get here, five scouts are out with
- 3:41CO, all fully vaxed. How'd that happen?
- 3:45And he called me he called me a
- 3:47conspiracy theorist. And that was like
- 3:49the end of the It was like the end of
- 3:50the appeal at that point when I'm like,
- 3:52"Okay, so you don't actually give a
- 3:53about this?" When literally so many guys
- 3:55on our team had fake vacax cards.
- 3:59>> So many guys. And and rightfully so.
- 4:01Have you ever heard of the Tuskegee
- 4:03experiment?
- 4:04And do you not think that everybody
- 4:06should have a healthy skepticism about
- 4:08the pharmaceutical industry when you
- 4:10learn about the the FDA and the CDC and
- 4:14their relationship and the uh where the
- 4:18funding comes from those organizations
- 4:20and the NIH and all these alphabet
- 4:23gangster agencies who make policies
- 4:25about our our health every single day
- 4:27and our livelihood and our privacy. You
- 4:28should have a healthy skepticism,
- 4:30especially if you're black.
- 4:31>> Yeah.
- 4:32>> Mhm. I mean what they just learn about
- 4:35the Tuskegee experiment what they did
- 4:36and just and and think is this the first
- 4:38time they've done this or would they
- 4:40have done other things like that go into
- 4:42Fouch's history about all the crazy
- 4:43experiments they were doing on beagles
- 4:46not to mention 2014 when they moved all
- 4:48the gain of function research out of the
- 4:50states out of University of North
- 4:52Carolina to labs like Wuhan lab
- 4:56>> and every conspiracy you know what the
- 4:58difference between a conspiracy and the
- 4:59truth is time every conspiracy that we
- 5:03were getting people like me getting
- 5:05ridiculed for. It's all been proven
- 5:06true.
- 5:07>> Kennedy assassination, right? We were
- 5:08told that was one thing that we found
- 5:10out years later it was the conspiracy
- 5:11was actually to be the truth, right?
- 5:12That it didn't happen the way it was.
- 5:14So, it's been years like that. It's
- 5:15always
- 5:15>> it's like you shouldn't trust the
- 5:16government. They actually and you
- 5:18shouldn't the government's a uni party.
- 5:20Like I was saying, is they want to pin
- 5:21me as, you know, like the right didn't
- 5:23like me because I played golf with
- 5:25Obama. And then then they think because
- 5:27I'm a, you know, antivax that I'm like a
- 5:30right-wing conspiracy theorist, you
- 5:32know, Trumper. And I'm like, first of
- 5:34all, I don't trust anybody in politics,
- 5:38maybe Ron Paul,
- 5:40but it's all the uni party. It's one
- 5:44party. They don't give a about
- 5:47regular people. They just keep doing the
- 5:49same policies. You know, everybody was
- 5:51cheering on ICE when Obama was in and uh
- 5:54Tom Holman, I think his name is or
- 5:56whatever his name is, who's the head of
- 5:58ICE or running that whole operation. He
- 6:00worked for Obama. They like them. They
- 6:02were deporting people. Then Trump gets
- 6:04on off in office and they're all, you
- 6:06know, racist. And then those guys are,
- 6:08you know, not wear they're wearing masks
- 6:10now, which is super weird. And Trump
- 6:12gets into office running on all these
- 6:14policies. you know, he's going to go
- 6:16after the swamp and go into Fort Knox
- 6:18and cut the vaccine stuff and not go
- 6:20into foreign wars and end the Ukraine
- 6:23stuff and what what's what's actually
- 6:24happened and transparency in the Epstein
- 6:26files.
- 6:27>> That's the biggest one.
- 6:28>> Absolutely nothing.
- 6:29>> Yeah.
- 6:29>> And I was actually excited cuz you know
- 6:32that uh Cash Patel, he goes on
- 6:36Rogan, which I watch a lot cuz I like
- 6:39Joe and Joe's a friend. And he says day
- 6:41one we're going we're opening up the
- 6:42Epstein files. There's been nothing but
- 6:45the obstruction of transparency with
- 6:47this entire administration. Anybody who
- 6:49even liked Trump or thought that things
- 6:51would change
- 6:52>> like this is a pro-Israel
- 6:56first or administration. And when you
- 6:59dig into it, that's the uni party. It's
- 7:02how many members of commerce of Congress
- 7:05are sponsored by Apac?
- 7:08>> Maybe.
- 7:08>> So all the there's no MAGA movement.
- 7:11There's no make America great again
- 7:13movement
- 7:14because the guy you elected hasn't done
- 7:17any of his campaign promises and it just
- 7:19realizes you think something's going to
- 7:21actually change. You know, in in the
- 7:24when Obama's president, you think that
- 7:26everybody's like, "Oh, there's going to
- 7:27be hope and change for a better world."
- 7:30Like, is anything in the black community
- 7:32gotten significantly better? No.
- 7:34>> Is anybody better off? Did the
- 7:36Affordable Care Act make a a major
- 7:38difference in the world besides being an
- 7:41extra tax, you know, for the rich? Is
- 7:43health care that much better in this
- 7:45country? And then Trump's going to come
- 7:47in and drain the swamp and do something
- 7:49and nothing happens and nothing changes.
- 7:51Then they roll out that old bag of
- 7:53bones. That was a wild four years.
- 7:55[laughter] And then you just bring back
- 7:57in the, you know, the guy from the TV
- 8:00show who's going to, okay, now he's
- 8:02really, this is second administration.
- 8:03Now he's really going to change things.
- 8:06Politics is a total sham.
- 8:08>> Remember he had the influencers go there
- 8:09where he gave they gave them the fake
- 8:12they're holding them up and like that
- 8:13total thing never got it. Never got
- 8:14anything in there and that that was my
- 8:16biggest issue with it is they said first
- 8:17day in office I'm going to release the
- 8:18Epstein files and we've all been waiting
- 8:20for
- 8:20>> this is a big sc. The whole thing the
- 8:22whole politics is a crazy sigh up. If
- 8:24voting actually mattered they wouldn't
- 8:25let you do it. That's the that's the
- 8:26truth of it. I don't know if Mark Twain
- 8:28said that. Somebody George Carlin
- 8:30probably would have said that for sure.
- 8:32>> But it's like George Carlin is way ahead
- 8:34of his time. He'd be incredible in this
- 8:36time.
- 8:37>> But he said there's a big
- 8:39>> quote
- 8:39>> and you ain't in it.
- 8:41>> Yep. You ain't a part of it.
- 8:42>> You ain't a part of it. And that's the
- 8:44truth. So we should be skeptical of all
- 8:46of it. Everything they say to us.
- 8:48>> So does it make you hesitant? Sorry to
- 8:49interrupt you. Does it make you hesitant
- 8:50to question things because you know
- 8:52you're getting so much for it. So you
- 8:53could question it in your own personal
- 8:55stuff. Why do people people the people
- 8:56that don't that don't like me, right?
- 8:59Outside of the Detroit, Chicago, and
- 9:00Minnesota fans who have a distaste for
- 9:02me because of my time in Green Bay,
- 9:04[laughter]
- 9:04>> the majority of it's rooted in the the
- 9:06vaccine.
- 9:07>> Yeah.
- 9:07>> Cuz 85% of the population got it. And
- 9:10they didn't realize this is a scop. This
- 9:12is bow warfare. And that they're just
- 9:15testing to see how compliant you would
- 9:17be. I live in California right in the
- 9:19offseason, right? They were blocking off
- 9:22lookout points where you can pull your
- 9:24car off on the side of the road and look
- 9:26out at the ocean or look out at the
- 9:28mountains. They were arresting surfers.
- 9:31What if any of that had to do with
- 9:33public safety? Are you kidding me? It
- 9:36was all about what can we get away with?
- 9:40And [laughter]
- 9:41I can go on and on about just the the
- 9:43absolute fraud, you know, that that was
- 9:46going on and and the SCOP, but I mean,
- 9:49you had you had governors all over the
- 9:51place eating burgers and giving out
- 9:53crispy cream donuts for vaccinations and
- 9:56fast food places, which are so healthy
- 9:58for you, where the were the were, you
- 10:00know, the stores that were deemed, you
- 10:02know, uh what was the word they were
- 10:04using at the time? like uh it was
- 10:06important for it to be open at the time,
- 10:08but you're shutting down churches.
- 10:10You're shutting down businesses.
- 10:11>> You're shutting down
- 10:12>> you're shutting down schools except for
- 10:14Gavin Newsome's kids and go in person.
- 10:16You're shutting down
- 10:17>> you're shutting down restaurants. How
- 10:18many restaurants
- 10:19>> closed all over the world especially in
- 10:21this country in some of our greatest
- 10:23cities that just closed and will never
- 10:24reopen because of this idea that you
- 10:27know we were endangering each other
- 10:29through this. But then this vaccine, you
- 10:31know, Joe Biden, you're gonna all the
- 10:33nonvax are gonna have a winner of death
- 10:35and, you know, coming up and it's like
- 10:38we live through that. We live through a
- 10:40multi- trillion dollar worldwide SCOP
- 10:44meant to see how much they can control
- 10:45us. And that's why people dislike me
- 10:47because I don't give a I'm going
- 10:48to tell the truth. And the difference
- 10:51between a conspiracy and the truth is
- 10:53time.
- 10:54>> And six years have passed now. And how
- 10:56many people I can I was thinking about
- 10:57this the other day in my car. It's like
- 10:59I don't know one person that's that was
- 11:01unvaxed that ever says, "Man, I wish I
- 11:04would have got that." I know a ton of
- 11:05people that I've talked to that actually
- 11:08have a spine and integrity who go, "Man,
- 11:10I wish I hadn't got that." The majority
- 11:12of those people are not just people that
- 11:14were like, "Oh, I just believe the
- 11:15government." The majority of those
- 11:17people were told, "Get this shot, which
- 11:19we have zero
- 11:21>> research on, testing, placebo testing,
- 11:24nothing, or you lose your job."
- 11:27That's what they were told.
- 11:28>> You can't travel. You can't travel. You
- 11:30can't go out. You can't do anything. You
- 11:31can't go see your family.
- 11:32>> But a lot of it was you can't have your
- 11:33job.
- 11:34>> Yeah.
- 11:34>> I mean, what they did in NovakJokovich,
- 11:36I was watching Novak last night and I
- 11:38was disappointed. He wasn't feeling
- 11:39good. Didn't play good. But I went to
- 11:42the US Open when I was um up there in
- 11:45Jersey and
- 11:47I'm watching him and the year he won. It
- 11:49was like 20 2023 I think he won. And the
- 11:54last match, I I went to a semi-final,
- 11:56but the last match
- 11:59they he finishes the match and it's like
- 12:02now we're going to show you the Madna
- 12:04shot of the match. [laughter] I took a
- 12:07picture. I got a lot of heat from the
- 12:08from the Jets PR, but I took a picture
- 12:10of Novak hitting and literally there's a
- 12:13Madna like one of the sponsors in the
- 12:15side right there and I just took a red
- 12:17line you can do on your photos on my
- 12:18Instagram and just like put a line
- 12:20through it. I'm like, this person, one
- 12:22of the healthiest guys in the world, was
- 12:23literally kicked out of Australia for
- 12:25not being vaxed when he contracted COVID
- 12:27and couldn't play in a tournament. I
- 12:29mean, what are we talking about?
- 12:30>> Yeah.
- 12:30>> But like, why are you still talking
- 12:31about CO? Why? Because of a SCOP that
- 12:34closed businesses that killed people
- 12:35that that you couldn't go to your uh
- 12:37your friends and your relatives like
- 12:40funerals or see them at the hospital or
- 12:42be around your loved ones and then it
- 12:44was you were ostracized. You were called
- 12:46a bunch of crazy names. I mean, how many
- 12:48Hollywood actors, the genius in
- 12:50Hollywood were saying they should round
- 12:52up nonvax and put them in concentration
- 12:54camps or kill them or not, you know,
- 12:56Jimmy Kimmel said, you know, uh, non-vax
- 13:00person with a heart attack. No, don't
- 13:02treat them. Treat these other people
- 13:04first at the hospital. They've been
- 13:05saying this all the statements, the
- 13:06embarrassing Steven Colbear vaccine,
- 13:09like one of the dumbest late night
- 13:11sketches of all time. you know, late
- 13:13night just went to Obviously, the
- 13:15last few years once uh Leno, Conan and
- 13:17and Letterman retired, but it's like the
- 13:19just propaganda that was puppeted every
- 13:22single day. You turn on news, mostly
- 13:24CNN, and you'd see the you know, do you
- 13:26remember this? The uh cases and deaths
- 13:29and this like rolling timeline
- 13:31supposedly.
- 13:32>> It's just crazy. And we made through it.
- 13:35We made it through it. All of us who
- 13:36were supposed to die unvaxed made it
- 13:38through it. But I I lost as much as most
- 13:43as anybody. May, you know, I lost
- 13:45obviously any goodwill in the media
- 13:49because, you know, they're all run by
- 13:50the same people.
- 13:51>> Um, no sponsors, zero sponsors.
- 13:56Um,
- 13:57reputation.
- 14:00>> Not many other people suffered the same
- 14:02stuff. Now I'm just like,
- 14:04"Go yourself. Don't be like you can
- 14:07have all that, but you got to stand for
- 14:10something in this time." And and for me
- 14:12it was that and they just told, "Oh,
- 14:13he's a liar. He lied to his
- 14:14teammates." No, not at all. I said
- 14:17literally the line that was the crux of
- 14:19my appeal. There was no followup. There
- 14:21was no nothing. Everybody in the
- 14:23building knew from day one, I am not
- 14:24vaxed. Go yourself.
- 14:26>> Yeah. Literally to the point of it was
- 14:29tense conversations with people in the
- 14:31organization who were like, "What if
- 14:33they find out?" I'm like, "I don't care
- 14:34if they find out." Well, you supposed to
- 14:35wear a mask. I'm like, "You're telling
- 14:38me I'm standing at the podium for my
- 14:39daily media on Wednesdays. There's 20
- 14:43media members sitting 30 ft away from
- 14:45me."
- 14:45>> Y'all did that? We had to do like Zooms.
- 14:48>> Well, at the beginning there was it was
- 14:50it was live. Then we went to
- 14:52>> and they're all masked up and they're
- 14:54all vaxed.
- 14:56And tell me again how an unvaxed person
- 14:58is dangerous to a vaxed person.
- 15:01Make it make sense. Okay. I am dangerous
- 15:03because uh I could give you a disease
- 15:06that you were vaccinated for which is
- 15:08supposed to prevent you acquiring that
- 15:10disease. How does that make sense?
- 15:11[laughter]
- 15:12>> So what do most people get wrong about
- 15:14you then?
- 15:15>> I mean it's that and it you know it's
- 15:17that for sure.
- 15:19Well, wrong. They they they have their
- 15:21opinions based on that. I think, you
- 15:23know, I had two teammates who spoke out
- 15:24about me years ago. Um, two teammates
- 15:28out of all the people that ever played
- 15:30with me that didn't have a great
- 15:32experience with me.
- 15:33>> One was bitter because he went to
- 15:34another team and never became a player
- 15:36again.
- 15:37And the other was uh just not a smart
- 15:41person. That one hurt me more than the
- 15:44other one because I spent so much time
- 15:45with that guy. I mean, literally the
- 15:46night before games, I would be up in his
- 15:48room for an hour helping him with the
- 15:49plan, checks, everything I was going to
- 15:51do. I went above and beyond for this
- 15:52guy. Um, but both of them, no one cares
- 15:56about what they have to say, which is
- 15:57for most people at this point in my
- 15:58life. No one cares what they have to say
- 16:00until they use my name.
- 16:03>> You know, I dated two women uh who
- 16:06nobody gives a about unless they drop my
- 16:08name and they like to say, you know,
- 16:10their version of the history of what
- 16:12actually happened. And so I'm just this
- 16:14like, you know, monster of a, you know,
- 16:18partner and it's just horit.
- 16:21>> And number one, why you still talking
- 16:22about me? It's been years. You know,
- 16:25like I dated Danica and uh she had just
- 16:30retired. She was depressed and not fun
- 16:35to be around. But I didn't leave her
- 16:37because I was trying to be there and be
- 16:39a good partner. Then it was going a
- 16:41certain direction. Obviously, there was
- 16:43no intimacy. It was nothing. And I'm
- 16:47buying a house in in uh in Malibu. And
- 16:49she goes, "Well, do you want to buy it
- 16:51together?" And I said, "No." She said,
- 16:53"Well, you know what that means then?" I
- 16:54said, "Yeah, that's the way things are
- 16:56going." She said, "Well, let's get
- 16:57counseling." So, then we got counseling.
- 16:58And then what happened? Then co hit
- 17:00>> and we're stuck together. So she tells a
- 17:02story that I like, you know, totally uh,
- 17:04you know, so blindsided by, you know,
- 17:07getting left by you and there, you know,
- 17:09there's blood that he leaves a trail of
- 17:11blood around. I'm like,
- 17:13>> what are you talking about? [laughter]
- 17:15That is not what happened by any means.
- 17:18Now,
- 17:19>> I I must digress a tad. I met my wife in
- 17:222017, and at the time
- 17:25>> Wait, does she exist? cuz that was
- 17:27another
- 17:27>> Yeah. I mean, [laughter]
- 17:29>> I had to say cuz I'm saying a lot of
- 17:32people act like you don't have a wife
- 17:34and it's all made up and I'm just
- 17:36>> like, how do you deal with that? I don't
- 17:38care about anything.
- 17:39>> Okay.
- 17:39>> I don't.
- 17:40>> Yeah.
- 17:40>> Like would that be would that be a thing
- 17:43if I had been a good soldier and been
- 17:45fully vaccinated?
- 17:47>> That's actually a fair question. Would
- 17:50people be these? Would these Would these
- 17:52exes Would these teammates would anybody
- 17:55would they have a platform if it wasn't
- 17:57invogue to like rip on the nonvaxed, you
- 18:00know, emized guy who lied to his
- 18:02teammates and his organization. It's all
- 18:05But in 2017, I met my wife and
- 18:07at the time she was leaving the states
- 18:09and going back to Europe. And my biggest
- 18:11regret is not begging her to stay or
- 18:13just like
- 18:15>> proposing right there.
- 18:16>> Yeah. because that sent me into a tail
- 18:18spin of like,
- 18:20you know, I was what can I be accused of
- 18:22as a as a a partner in a relationship?
- 18:25Like
- 18:26I was emotionally unavailable, I think,
- 18:28for those those seven or eight years
- 18:30because I'd met the person that changed
- 18:32my life. And after that, I just poured
- 18:35everything I had into football.
- 18:37>> And I think I got a lot out of that for
- 18:39sure. But I knew I was supposed to be
- 18:42with this one person and I couldn't. We
- 18:43were separated by an ocean for a lot of
- 18:45it. Then, you know, she was engaged. Uh
- 18:49then, you know, I got engaged and and uh
- 18:53luckily for me, we came back together.
- 18:56But the other part of that, so there's
- 18:58that, you know, Danica with her story of
- 19:00like a trail of blood and blindsided by
- 19:03me, you know, leaving her when it's
- 19:05like, all right, there's zero intimacy.
- 19:06Uh we didn't didn't I didn't want to buy
- 19:09a house. You didn't want to have any any
- 19:11attachments. And uh there was really
- 19:15nothing there. And then
- 19:16>> I date Shayen. And again, I feel like
- 19:21this needs to be told because
- 19:24there's just narrows out there.
- 19:25>> Yeah.
- 19:26>> Which by the way, you know, forever. The
- 19:28other thing people hit me on all the
- 19:30time was he's such a even his family
- 19:33hates him.
- 19:34>> Nobody knew anything that was going on
- 19:36with it. And I decided that I didn't
- 19:39want to play this out in the media
- 19:40because I didn't think that was right.
- 19:42Now, other members of my family would
- 19:43say things whether the intent was to
- 19:46harm. Couple times it was by a few of
- 19:48them. Couple times they didn't really
- 19:49know what was going on.
- 19:52They didn't know what it would be like
- 19:53to have a son who was super famous. I
- 19:56didn't know what it' be like after the
- 19:58Super Bowl to be super famous in the way
- 19:59that I was and how that changes
- 20:01relationships
- 20:02>> and the relationships dissolved.
- 20:04>> Now full circle, they're back together.
- 20:06M
- 20:06>> it's amazing. It's been great to have
- 20:08all those people, my little brother and
- 20:11my older brother and his family and my
- 20:14parents. That's been really really
- 20:16special.
- 20:16>> How'd that come about?
- 20:18>> Well, can I I'll get that. [laughter]
- 20:19But it's like that's again like it
- 20:21that's another
- 20:23>> knock against so after that what are you
- 20:24going to say about me? No, actually
- 20:26we're good, right? We spend a lot of
- 20:28time together.
- 20:28>> Mhm.
- 20:29>> But the other one is like I'm this
- 20:31terrible like partner. Obviously I have
- 20:32a fake wife. Um, [laughter]
- 20:35>> so I just want to I just want to say
- 20:37this like um
- 20:38>> you know then I date Shayen and I
- 20:41propose and she says yes. Now she uh
- 20:45maybe felt like she was forced to make a
- 20:47decision. She could have said no. Um but
- 20:50not a couple days after that she tells
- 20:53me
- 20:54you know before we get married I got to
- 20:56go this guy.
- 20:59And I'm like, cuz her story is that I
- 21:02ruined her life and gave her a crazy
- 21:05depression because I left her. But the
- 21:06actuality is she told me that then she
- 21:08took off the ring by March. So I
- 21:10proposed in December, took out the ring
- 21:12by March. And we had a couple times
- 21:14where we tried to, you know, get
- 21:16reunited and nothing ever happened. And
- 21:18there wasn't even a relationship in 22
- 21:19to break off. She literally told me, "I
- 21:22don't want to be with you."
- 21:24>> After we tried to have some sort of
- 21:25reconciliation in 2021. So, I'm like,
- 21:28there's just a lot of narratives out
- 21:29there that are just not true, you know,
- 21:32and they portray things a certain way
- 21:33because I can get away with it. Cuz if
- 21:35you say my name
- 21:36>> Mhm.
- 21:37>> like all due respect, that is due. When
- 21:40you say all due respect, there's that
- 21:42word do,
- 21:43>> right?
- 21:44>> Yeah.
- 21:44>> Which that's the big part of it. Like
- 21:46how much is actually due based on what's
- 21:48been said.
- 21:49>> No one knows what they're doing.
- 21:51>> Their the height of their their fame was
- 21:55when they were with me.
- 21:57those they get clicks when they say my
- 21:59name just like the idiots on TV get
- 22:01clicks when they say my name because I
- 22:02am a lightning rod because people
- 22:04actually give because there is a silent
- 22:06majority that's like I like this guy he
- 22:08stands for something there's the group
- 22:10of people that are like I like the old
- 22:12guys I pull for the old guys that's how
- 22:13I feel watching you know the Steph
- 22:15Curry's of the world or or the uh you
- 22:17know the older guys in the NHL you know
- 22:20with the three awesome guys we have here
- 22:22in Pittsburgh and Latang Gino and uh and
- 22:24Sid like I pull for the older Like, so
- 22:26there's that there's that group that's
- 22:28silent for the most part because
- 22:29[clears throat] if you if you come out
- 22:31and you say, "I like that guy. Oh, he's
- 22:33a liar. He's a racist. He's a MAGA.
- 22:35He's, you know,
- 22:37you know, he's a tinfoil hat wearer cuz
- 22:40he believes in conspiracies." And it's
- 22:42like, so those people aren't out there.
- 22:44But when I say what I said on Pat McAfee
- 22:46Show
- 22:46>> Mhm.
- 22:47>> I can't even tell you. Maybe it's a
- 22:49conservative campus. Uh, you know, but
- 22:54all the workers at St. Norbert's pulled
- 22:56me aside in their own way and said,
- 22:58"Thank you so much for what you said.
- 23:00>> Thank you for talking about Fouchy.
- 23:01Thank you for standing up for us." And
- 23:03that's how I felt when they sent a
- 23:05stoogge out to Green Bay in 2020 and he
- 23:09was 2021 and he was talking about you
- 23:11got to get vaccinated, here's the data
- 23:13on getting vaccinated, blah blah blah
- 23:16blah blah. And I just started asking
- 23:18questions. We were sitting six feet of
- 23:19separation in in the creek. It's already
- 23:21an absolute joke. And I started asking
- 23:23him questions. Question. I only want to
- 23:25ask him questions to the point of the
- 23:27team president, Mark Murphy, had to shut
- 23:28it down. He goes, "All right, let's uh
- 23:30we're kind of done." I walked out of
- 23:31that meeting and every scout,
- 23:35everybody with his spine in the scouting
- 23:37department, uh, and coaching staff and
- 23:40everybody had been forced cuz all those
- 23:41people were forced to get back. There
- 23:42was no like options. And it wasn't like
- 23:44they I don't think I maybe they did
- 23:47didn't have the access that maybe the
- 23:49players did to fake fact cards, but they
- 23:51all said thank you for that. So there's
- 23:52a silent majority that actually like
- 23:54appreciates that someone's willing to
- 23:55stand up and say stuff because
- 23:57>> honestly there were a lot of cowards who
- 23:58didn't say anything who could have.
- 24:00>> There were a lot of guys who whose
- 24:02platform is built on health and wellness
- 24:04who I know for sure didn't get vaxed who
- 24:06didn't say anything.
- 24:07>> So I was out there catching strays fine.
- 24:09I was loud about it. I wasing hurt about
- 24:12the way I went down and I didn't like
- 24:14the attacks. I didn't like all these
- 24:15media people where I thought my friends
- 24:17turned their back on me. But it's like I
- 24:19was right about that. These other
- 24:21narratives by my exes are not rooted in
- 24:23truth at all. You know, they portray me
- 24:25and they're piggybacking on you. Tell
- 24:27number one, stop talking about me. It's
- 24:28been years, 5 years. What are you
- 24:29talking about? You're not relevant.
- 24:31>> Like, like, stop talking about me. Move
- 24:33on with your life. Like, live your life.
- 24:35>> Also, two, you're lying about what
- 24:37actually happened. Like I was actually a
- 24:39good partner, Danica, and but yeah, I
- 24:42didn't want to buy any house with you
- 24:43and I didn't see a long-term future.
- 24:45Okay. I don't wish you any harm unless
- 24:47you're, you know, throwing spells and
- 24:49shade my way.
- 24:50>> Mhm.
- 24:50>> Uh and Shay, like you left me. You took
- 24:54the ring off. Like what are we talking
- 24:55about? I ruined your life. Like just
- 24:57stop with the narratives. Time to move
- 24:58on. Move on with your life. Don't
- 25:00mention me. And that's how it goes for
- 25:02all these people, you know, who who have
- 25:04issues with me. uh especially the two
- 25:07past teammates. Like
- 25:09if you're only relevant when you're
- 25:10mentioning my name, like you should
- 25:12check yourself. And there's a lot of
- 25:13terrible people on TV that get clicks
- 25:16out of it. And also ESPN is really
- 25:19scared.
- 25:20>> Why? Because I can speak up and speak my
- 25:23mind. And that McAfee thing rattled
- 25:24their feathers because I didn't just say
- 25:26that on McAfee show who is honestly I
- 25:30love Pat and he's done more for that
- 25:31network than any other horrible show
- 25:33they have on there that they think is
- 25:35[laughter] they should pay those guys
- 25:36doing it. But I also said you're a
- 25:38gutless organization
- 25:39>> because they haven't said anything. They
- 25:43spend so much time on certain issues but
- 25:45you won't you won't talk one second
- 25:48about the Diane Rini situation. What
- 25:50just happened? Uh let's see. uh the
- 25:52owner of this the Niners.
- 25:54>> Yeah.
- 25:54>> Uh listed a prostitute for $140 in in
- 25:58Ohio.
- 25:58>> That literally was the number one topic
- 26:01when you click on ESPN.com, right? They
- 26:03will rotate the eight stories or
- 26:04whatever they have, but they usually
- 26:06have like the one story that's featured.
- 26:07That was the featured story. So, you
- 26:09bring in how many millions of eyes to
- 26:11that situation. Why do you want to throw
- 26:13Jed York under the bus? I don't know.
- 26:16But does that have the same effect as uh
- 26:20a reporter who's uh you know has
- 26:23intimate relations with a coach who has
- 26:26a vote for MVP, has a vote for coach of
- 26:28the year. I don't know if she's on the
- 26:30Hall of Fame or not, but
- 26:32>> there's voting stuff. Uh there was the
- 26:34thing about Morgan Moses going from the
- 26:35Jets to the New England that was posted
- 26:37a day early. How many other inside stuff
- 26:39was shared? There are a lot of insiders
- 26:41out there. Yeah.
- 26:42>> Do they all have strong integrity?
- 26:46I don't know. But the fact that ESPN
- 26:48spent zero time on that story, but Jed
- 26:50Jed York gets popped in San Fran, it's
- 26:52literally on the top of their of their
- 26:54role right now. That's hypocrisy.
- 26:55>> Do you have a reason why you think they
- 26:57didn't cover that story?
- 26:58>> Yeah.
- 26:58>> What do you think it is?
- 26:59>> I think there's a lot more to it.
- 27:01>> So, it's deeper. Like the relationship
- 27:03may have been longer.
- 27:03>> The NFL is going to protect the Shield
- 27:05and I I respect that, but they're going
- 27:08to do by all means necessary.
- 27:11>> And that's an NFL partner now. They just
- 27:12bought the NFL Network. So they're Yeah,
- 27:14they're clearly
- 27:15>> taking the words out of my mouth. They
- 27:16got to be very very careful.
- 27:17>> Yeah.
- 27:18>> Now, let's move on to your family.
- 27:21How did that come about? How did it go
- 27:23about reconciliation? And
- 27:25>> but there's there's been a there's been
- 27:27a few things that have happened the last
- 27:28couple years, which has made the idea of
- 27:30reconciling with my parents first um an
- 27:33opportunity.
- 27:34>> I will say just before you get into it,
- 27:36I got to meet your dad after a game and
- 27:38I actually enjoyed. I mean, he was he
- 27:40was kind and I I appreciate that. Yeah.
- 27:42No, he was excited to meet you. You're
- 27:44one of his favorite players. Um he likes
- 27:47the old guys, too. You know, he's like
- 27:48[laughter] his son's old. He's like he
- 27:50wants all the old guys to hang around
- 27:51and keep playing, you know. And he likes
- 27:53the big guys. I mean, he's he was a
- 27:55255lb guard. He played in at Chico State
- 27:58University. No longer have a football
- 27:59team.
- 28:00>> Yeah.
- 28:00>> But he was he was one of the big guys.
- 28:02>> Um back then 255 was like covid-19
- 28:06what would that have been? Uh7s. Yeah.
- 28:09>> Yeah. Cool. Um,
- 28:12but so there was some some stuff there
- 28:14and then uh it just I could tell I was
- 28:16coming to a a time where I needed to
- 28:19make it right. My parents were uh
- 28:22wanting to move to Nashville to be
- 28:24closer to their grandkids.
- 28:26>> And there was some tragic events that
- 28:28happened in Chico that kind of made them
- 28:32not feel as tied to it because my mom's
- 28:35from Menescino County, Northern
- 28:36California. My dad's from Southern
- 28:38California. Uh there's an air force base
- 28:40down in town called Lomboke. My
- 28:42grandfather was in the Air Force. Um so
- 28:45he taught there. So but then they both
- 28:47met at Chico State. So that was in 19,
- 28:50you know, they got married in 80. I
- 28:53think they met in 76 maybe. So it's 50
- 28:55years, you know, and we moved a couple
- 28:57times. But but they were ready to to
- 29:00leave, which is crazy. I have 50 years.
- 29:01So actually the last day they were in
- 29:03Chico was the day I met him at their
- 29:05house. the house that I had bought them
- 29:07and built for them. And so, again, full
- 29:09circle, right? That was it that was a
- 29:11cool full full circle moment. Um, and
- 29:13then, uh, a couple weeks after that, I
- 29:16went out to Nashville and, uh, met with
- 29:18my older brother. And a couple weeks
- 29:20after that, I met with, uh, my little
- 29:22brother. So, it was it was cool. You
- 29:25know, there was, uh, tough conversations
- 29:27for sure, but, um, I'm just in a much
- 29:30better headsp space. And I said it
- 29:32before, but my wife deserves a lot of
- 29:34the credit for that. Just to be even
- 29:36able to to get to that point where I
- 29:40could think about having the
- 29:40conversation. She was a big part of
- 29:42that. And not that she was pushing
- 29:43anything. She wasn't. It was more just
- 29:46when and I think you guys probably
- 29:48relate to this. When you're when you're
- 29:50loved by someone in such an
- 29:52unconditional and beautiful pure way,
- 29:55you know, uh it changes your perspective
- 29:58on all your relationships around that.
- 30:00you know, that's like it becomes your
- 30:01anchor point. It's like,
- 30:03>> wow, if I can be made to feel like this
- 30:05by this person, like it I feel like it,
- 30:10you know, opens up your heart in a
- 30:11really deeper way, you know, that I
- 30:13never experienced before. And because I
- 30:17mean, a year ago, even two years ago, 5
- 30:19years ago for sure, I would have said,
- 30:21"No, I'm never going to reconcile. It's
- 30:22just not going to happen. It's not in
- 30:24the cards. I'm uh not ready for that.
- 30:27Don't think I ever be. I don't think
- 30:28they're ever, you know, it was it was
- 30:30really built in judgment, you know, just
- 30:32like ego and judgment. And ego and
- 30:34judgment gets in the way of basically
- 30:35any progress or evolution possible. So,
- 30:38I had to really put those those aside,
- 30:40you know, and and when the judgment
- 30:43disappears, you can actually see your
- 30:45parents for who they are, and that's
- 30:46flawed people. When you grow up, it's a
- 30:48tough thing cuz when you grow up, you're
- 30:49like Superman, Superwoman, like can
- 30:51never do anything wrong.
- 30:52>> Yeah. 100%. Then you then you go through
- 30:54those teenage years where there's the
- 30:55angst and you're frustrated and they're
- 30:56like don't respond to them. And then uh
- 30:59and then at some point you go, "Oh, they
- 31:01were just like trying to do their best."
- 31:04>> Yeah.
- 31:04>> No, they made mistakes for sure.
- 31:06>> Everybody makes mistakes.
- 31:07>> But everyone makes mistakes. And it's
- 31:08the judgment of like, okay, now that I'm
- 31:11older and and want to start a family,
- 31:12it's like,
- 31:14>> oh, they really had no idea what the
- 31:16they were doing.
- 31:17>> None [laughter] of us do though, right?
- 31:18None of us do. Like it's
- 31:19>> But it's hard. But if if the ego is in
- 31:21the way and the judgment's in the way,
- 31:22you can't even bring yourself out to
- 31:23even think about that. I couldn't and
- 31:25that was my that was
- 31:26>> the biggest hindrance to doing it. So,
- 31:27it's been really beautiful to
- 31:29>> to do that. My dad came up to a game.
- 31:32>> Hopefully, uh we'll get all of them out.
- 31:33I was just talking. It was my brother's
- 31:35birthday. Little brother's birthday
- 31:36yesterday. He was just in Ireland
- 31:37calling a game.
- 31:37>> Your little brother's birthday is
- 31:38yesterday.
- 31:39>> Yeah.
- 31:39>> 8:30. Yeah.
- 31:40>> My My little brother's birthday is 8:29.
- 31:43>> Yeah.
- 31:44>> Crazy.
- 31:44>> Yeah.
- 31:45>> Um you brought up your wife. How did you
- 31:48guys meet? We met in 2017. She was
- 31:50living in Austin. Uh, and she had gone
- 31:54to the University of Texas, which is
- 31:55also kind of weird because I hated Texas
- 31:58forever [laughter] because of M. Brown
- 32:01in 2004 and his
- 32:03>> shady uh voting, him and his brother
- 32:05Watson in the polls. [laughter]
- 32:08So I found out to you know like so then
- 32:11my wife went to Austin and then I found
- 32:13out my grandfather so my dad's dad who
- 32:16was like a war hero he was he was a be
- 32:2124 or 52 he was a fighter pilot and he
- 32:25was shot down over Hungary and had to
- 32:28spend a lot of time in uh P camp and um
- 32:34I found out in his uh he did a big
- 32:36deposition for like the war criminals
- 32:40act or something where he talked about
- 32:42the conditions he was in in the in the
- 32:44prison ps was wild like a big file. Um
- 32:48actually the guy that wrote that book um
- 32:51unsolicited really that book about me uh
- 32:53he gave me those uh those files but it
- 32:56was interesting because I learned more
- 32:57about my grandfather and he had gone to
- 32:59Texas as well. So, I was like, here's a
- 33:01school that I've always disliked.
- 33:03Although, I like Vince Young and I had
- 33:04him in the QB room for a week or two.
- 33:06But,
- 33:06>> yeah.
- 33:07>> Um,
- 33:08>> but never liked Mac Brown. Um, but
- 33:11didn't like the the university and then
- 33:14my wife went there and my grandfather
- 33:15went there. So,
- 33:16>> wow.
- 33:17>> Um, but then, like I said, she moved
- 33:18over back over to Europe and then we
- 33:21kept in touch and there were a couple
- 33:23times I thought things going to work out
- 33:24and then, you know, then she got engaged
- 33:27and I was like, "Oh that's that's
- 33:29done." And then I got engaged
- 33:31and I thought, "Oh, I'm done, too." But
- 33:33then, you know, obviously
- 33:35she had her own prerogative and took her
- 33:37ring off in 3 months. So, [laughter]
- 33:39[gasps]
- 33:40>> how'd you end up proposing her
- 33:41>> to my wife?
- 33:42>> Yeah.
- 33:44>> Uh, well, we we eloped.
- 33:47>> Mhm.
- 33:47>> So, it was it was uh it's quick. Um, but
- 33:51I had a little something set up um
- 33:55when I was when I was over there.
- 33:57Surprise for her. That's about all I'm
- 33:59going to say about that. [laughter]
- 34:02>> All right, let's let's switch gears a
- 34:04little bit. Let's talk about your
- 34:05accomplishments.
- 34:06>> Oh, yeah. I know you love to talk about
- 34:08your accomplishments.
- 34:08>> I do not [laughter] talk about my
- 34:10accomplishments.
- 34:10>> You love to talk about your
- 34:11accomplishments. You want to make sure
- 34:13everybody knows how many MVPs.
- 34:15>> I I don't talk about my accomplishments.
- 34:17I won four MVPs. Yeah, [laughter]
- 34:19>> everybody knows that. Do a quick Google
- 34:20search.
- 34:21>> Yeah, come on.
- 34:22>> How many Pro Bowls? I I thought it it it
- 34:26could be way more if I had done, you
- 34:28know, and I'm not going to call out
- 34:29names, but the guys who are the third,
- 34:32fourth alternates that go to the Pro
- 34:33Bowl and somehow get a Pro Bowl nod.
- 34:35>> Do you hate the Pro Bowl because of
- 34:36that? Cuz like doesn't it just take away
- 34:38from
- 34:38>> I was in the last real Pro Bowl.
- 34:42>> 2012 is the beginning of the end. Like
- 34:44the beginning of the end was before that
- 34:45when I played in 20 after the 2009
- 34:47season, it was a it was a real game.
- 34:49Yeah,
- 34:50>> it was we played hard and
- 34:52>> everyone wanted that truck,
- 34:54>> but in 2012
- 34:56it was not. It was the beginning of the
- 34:59end.
- 35:00>> And I was like, "Oh, this is going
- 35:02downhill."
- 35:03But I think I've got 10, but I could
- 35:05have
- 35:06>> I
- 35:06>> quite a few more cuz I was first
- 35:08alternate and they would call me and I
- 35:09would always tell our guys, "Hey, uh,
- 35:11I'm injured. Don't pass me on the
- 35:12physical cuz I want to go to the Pro
- 35:14Bowl if somebody drops out."
- 35:15>> I just crack up though. He's asking you
- 35:16this like he doesn't know every all pro
- 35:18he's got what year he did it.
- 35:19>> He's a big spot rack.
- 35:20>> Oh, he's that NFL reference.
- 35:23>> You know who the big spot
- 35:24>> NFL reference too big time.
- 35:25>> That's a good site though.
- 35:26>> Yeah,
- 35:27>> cuz you've looked at it. [laughter]
- 35:29>> Spot
- 35:31>> cuz TJ and Herb will ask him how much
- 35:33he's made and he
- 35:34>> Oh, they know to the to the scent.
- 35:36>> Of course they do.
- 35:37>> Yeah, I know they know to the scent.
- 35:39>> Um, when you hear about all that, is
- 35:41there one accomplishment that stands out
- 35:43from the others?
- 35:45Super Bowl MVP, Pro Bowls, AllPros.
- 35:50I
- 35:50>> think what I've always wanted to be
- 35:52defined for was
- 35:55uh aggressively calculated
- 35:58>> quarterback play. So, in 2018, I threw
- 36:01like 600 passes and threw two picks,
- 36:03both tipped,
- 36:05but I had a streak.
- 36:07>> Why do you know that [laughter] stat
- 36:08though? That is crazy.
- 36:10>> Buffalo and Chicago.
- 36:13Puyer got the one and Eddie got the
- 36:15other one, I think. Um, but I had a run
- 36:19and you have to look at the exact
- 36:21number, but I had a run that was crazy
- 36:22at home. Like at Lambo, I had like
- 36:26something like 600 plus. I hope it's at
- 36:30least that much. Somewhere between five
- 36:32and 600
- 36:34uh straight passes without interception.
- 36:38>> That's 586 consecutive passes without
- 36:41without interception. 56
- 36:43>> from 2012 to 2015. That is an insane
- 36:45stat. 1,043 days without an inter.
- 36:49>> That is ridiculous. That's insane. 49
- 36:52touchdowns and zero interceptions.
- 36:54>> Pretty good run. That's a very good run.
- 36:56>> That's pretty good. Yeah.
- 36:57>> Your MVP years 2011, 2014, 2020, 2021.
- 37:02>> What's the best version of you as a
- 37:04quarterback?
- 37:07>> Honestly, 2016 was the best version of
- 37:09me.
- 37:09>> 2016. I didn't win MVP. Could have. Matt
- 37:12Ryan won it. They went 14 and two.
- 37:15>> Mhm.
- 37:16>> Um, only because we So, it's 2016. I'm
- 37:20not talking to my family. My brother's
- 37:21in the Bachelorette. I'm getting crushed
- 37:23by unnamed sources in the media. We're 4
- 37:26and six. We just lose to Tennessee. Like
- 37:2945 24 down there.
- 37:30>> Yeah.
- 37:31>> And it was really rough. And then I was
- 37:35thinking about on that Monday like how
- 37:37shitty it was and where it must playoffs
- 37:39and nobody believes and I was like
- 37:43I looked at the schedule Monday night
- 37:45and Tuesday I was looking at the
- 37:46schedule talking about it. I was like we
- 37:49just beat Philly here. I bet we could
- 37:50run the table. And then so I said it on
- 37:53that Wednesday in my press conference
- 37:55and I played some of the best football
- 37:57during that stretch of my career those
- 37:58last six. We weren't a great team, but
- 38:01we won the six in a row to make the
- 38:03playoffs.
- 38:04>> Mhm.
- 38:05>> Then we win the wild card, then we win a
- 38:07divisional round. I mean, like the
- 38:10divisional was against Dallas, who was
- 38:11the one seed.
- 38:13>> Now, we all didn't have a great one in
- 38:16the last game against Atlanta that year,
- 38:17but
- 38:18>> but that was that was a really good run.
- 38:20Now, the best I played start to finish.
- 38:22>> I mean, 2020 was a little bit
- 38:25>> 48 and five is pretty damn good with a
- 38:2770% completion percentage. Little bit
- 38:28unfair.
- 38:29>> Yeah, that's I mean
- 38:31>> that that is that is a stupid year.
- 38:33>> I got all home games.
- 38:35>> Uh
- 38:36>> there was no crowd.
- 38:37>> Oh, cuz there's no crowd. That's a good
- 38:38point. How easy was that? That was we
- 38:40played in Minnesota week one
- 38:42>> and I think we drew them off sides four
- 38:44times in Minnesota. Now you're talking
- 38:45about the hardest places to play in my
- 38:47career, right? Number one, Old
- 38:50Metrodome.
- 38:51>> It was pumped in noise. It was crazy
- 38:54atmosphere. That's number one. Number
- 38:56two, Seahawks
- 38:58>> in Seattle. You can't hear a thing.
- 39:00>> Yeah.
- 39:00>> Right.
- 39:01>> Number three,
- 39:04probably the new Viking stadium, right?
- 39:08>> And we played there. It's super loud.
- 39:11The way it's built, it's not
- 39:12acoustically like perfectly similar to
- 39:15Seattle where it's like whatever they
- 39:17did with the acoustics, it doesn't take
- 39:18a whole lot for you not to be able to
- 39:19have a conversation. Like I remember we
- 39:21played in Oregon, which was I think
- 39:23built by the same design. We played an
- 39:25organ in college and the band was
- 39:27playing and we were in a walkthrough and
- 39:29I couldn't have a conversation with Cam.
- 39:30It was that loud. Just the band was
- 39:31playing. Seattle's like that where it's
- 39:33just like deafening. But Minnesota was
- 39:35like that too. And week one I drew him
- 39:37off sides four times. Zimmer was
- 39:39playing. I don't know. He wasn't
- 39:40pressuring all for some reason. But I
- 39:42threw like for 360 and four touchdowns.
- 39:44I was like, "Oh, this could be a really
- 39:46good year." [laughter]
- 39:48Because the next year I went MVP. We
- 39:50played in uh in Jacksonville week one
- 39:53against the Saints and lost 38 to3.
- 39:56[snorts] Jamus Winston had five
- 39:58touchdowns. Blew us out. We were
- 39:59terrible. [laughter]
- 40:00I was like, "Ah, well, guess I'm not
- 40:02going to win this year." But like you
- 40:05brought up something very interesting.
- 40:07You talked about Matt Ryan winning the
- 40:09MVP in 2016 and you mentioned the
- 40:12record. He was 14-2 that year. Does that
- 40:16play a big stat? I mean, play a big part
- 40:18in winning the MVP.
- 40:20>> I think so. And I think it should.
- 40:22>> You do?
- 40:22>> Yeah.
- 40:23>> Why is that?
- 40:24>> Because
- 40:27when you take care of the football and
- 40:29you give yourself a chance to win, like
- 40:31that should be a part of it. Now, if you
- 40:32have a dominating number one defense and
- 40:34you're not maybe the most dynamic
- 40:37player, I get it.
- 40:38>> Most valuable player though, maybe
- 40:40shouldn't call it most valuable player.
- 40:42>> Mhm. sometimes
- 40:44um best player on the best team is often
- 40:46where it goes.
- 40:47>> I don't think that's wrong either.
- 40:49>> I think it's it's it's part of it. Now,
- 40:51I will say in Yeah, I had a couple near
- 40:54misses, too. Like 2016, right, I was in
- 40:57the mix. 2012, I was definitely in the
- 41:00mix as well.
- 41:01>> Mhm.
- 41:01>> And then we ran into the buzz saw known
- 41:03as Adrien Peterson. [laughter]
- 41:06>> Oh my god. I mean, he deserved to win
- 41:09it. Like I always say like who's the
- 41:11best back you ever seen? Aa a AP.
- 41:13>> Yeah.
- 41:13>> He says that too.
- 41:14>> Yes.
- 41:14>> I mean he was different.
- 41:15>> Yes.
- 41:16>> He could outrun you, run you over and do
- 41:20everything in between. I mean he was
- 41:22when he got going that gallop going.
- 41:24>> That's exactly how you describe it too.
- 41:26The gallop.
- 41:26>> Unbelievable.
- 41:28>> But man, he was incredible. 2012, you
- 41:30know. So that was that was another one
- 41:32could have could have been close.
- 41:34>> What quarterback that does doesn't get
- 41:36enough credit when it comes to history?
- 41:39Well, I think currently Dak Prescott. I
- 41:42like Dak. I'm a big fan of Daks. I would
- 41:45say all time.
- 41:48I mean, there's certain guys that
- 41:50revolutionize the position. I think we
- 41:51need to think about that when we think
- 41:52about the the players that made the
- 41:55biggest impact in the league. I think
- 41:57about going back to Randle Cunningham
- 42:00and Steve Young. You know, Steve for me
- 42:02was like I was a Joe Montana guy, so I
- 42:04had a hard time with Steve in the
- 42:06beginning, but Steve had an incredible
- 42:08career and he he changed the way the
- 42:10position was played, him and Randall.
- 42:12And I think it was because of those guys
- 42:14that a Michael Vic comes along.
- 42:16>> And because of Michael Vic, you get
- 42:18Lamar Jackson.
- 42:18>> Yeah.
- 42:19>> And I think there's these guys that have
- 42:21paved the way that are really important
- 42:23to the fabric of the history of the
- 42:25league. And Steve was one of my favorite
- 42:27players and I've got to know him. He's a
- 42:29he's a great great human being. Michael
- 42:30Vic is awesome. Comes to my charity
- 42:33event every year.
- 42:34>> Thanks for that.
- 42:34>> But I mean, how many guys growing up
- 42:36that are my age play with Michael Vic in
- 42:38Madden,
- 42:39>> bro. Everybody,
- 42:40>> I think he should be a Hall of Famer
- 42:42because of that.
- 42:42>> Yeah,
- 42:43>> because he changed the game.
- 42:44>> He changed the game. 100% 100% changed
- 42:46the game.
- 42:47>> And but I loved the, you know, I love
- 42:49watching Randall growing up, too, cuz
- 42:51Randall could just throw that thing, you
- 42:53know, and he could move around. He was
- 42:54active. But I was always a Niner fan. So
- 42:57I always say Steve, you know, there's
- 42:58like Dan Marino was a really good
- 42:59player. Mhm.
- 43:00>> didn't win. So, he's not kind of treated
- 43:02the same. But I think for anybody like
- 43:04Dan, even myself to some extent, like
- 43:07there's difference between the being the
- 43:09greatest player of your era and
- 43:13greatest winner of your era.
- 43:15[clears throat]
- 43:16>> Yeah.
- 43:17>> You know,
- 43:17>> yeah.
- 43:17>> Like winning is a team sport. Obviously,
- 43:20it takes great quarterback play,
- 43:22>> but the way that the guys you play
- 43:25against talk about you Yeah.
- 43:26>> is most important. Like, who's most
- 43:28difficult to prepare for? And I think
- 43:30that's what and you know Pat's already
- 43:32got like three Super Bowls, but like for
- 43:36I feel like for me I was that guy for a
- 43:39long time that was really hard to deal
- 43:40with when I could really move around and
- 43:42run
- 43:43>> and then Pat came along and it's like
- 43:45well this guy can beat you with his
- 43:46legs, with his arm, with arm angles and
- 43:49doing different things and
- 43:51you know obviously we'd all love to win
- 43:53a ton of Super Bowls but you want to be
- 43:56regarded as the best player.
- 43:59Well, not many guys have your
- 44:00efficiency, too. 1.4 interception
- 44:02percentage all time. The rushing
- 44:04touchdowns. I mean, it it's at your
- 44:06peak, if not the best, one of the best
- 44:09ever. No doubt. Take the titles and the
- 44:10wins out of it. So, you don't think QB a
- 44:12win stat is a QB stat then? Not fair to
- 44:15give that.
- 44:16>> Oh, I don't know. I like those
- 44:17discussions. I'm like, I don't give a
- 44:19about that. [laughter]
- 44:20Like, is a Super Bowl a quarterback's
- 44:22stat? Is a is a win a quarterback's dad?
- 44:24Like
- 44:26>> it seems to be put on y'all's shoulder a
- 44:28lot though, right? They break it down to
- 44:29how how many Super Bowls did the
- 44:30quarterback win. It feels like where I
- 44:31don't think Cam's getting as much of he
- 44:32doesn't have a Super Bowl so he's going
- 44:33to be out of the hole.
- 44:34>> There's a lot of bad quarterbacks that
- 44:35were on good teams and won Super Bowl.
- 44:36>> Yeah.
- 44:37>> There's a lot of guys that had bad
- 44:39performances at Super Bowl.
- 44:40>> Mhm.
- 44:41>> And still won the Super Bowl.
- 44:42>> Mhm.
- 44:42>> There's guys that weren't MVP of Super
- 44:44Bowls at quarterback. Does that go in
- 44:47their cap or not?
- 44:48>> No. They won the Super Bowl.
- 44:50>> They won the Super Bowl. They were a
- 44:51part of it. It's great.
- 44:54But I mean at the same point like
- 44:57you want both.
- 44:58>> Yes.
- 44:58>> Any you want to be the best
- 45:01>> and be the champion.
- 45:02>> Anybody who says differently like Kobe
- 45:04Bryant said this to me like Kobe wanted
- 45:07to be the best.
- 45:09Win a championship. Yeah. That's awesome
- 45:11too.
- 45:11>> But he want to be the best.
- 45:13>> Michael Jordan got both. He was the best
- 45:15and he won the most championships.
- 45:17>> Yeah.
- 45:17>> You know.
- 45:18>> So who are you measuring yourself up
- 45:21against?
- 45:22>> I'm not. I don't care.
- 45:24[laughter]
- 45:25>> He doesn't care. I don't believe that
- 45:27one bit.
- 45:27>> No, I mean
- 45:29I got all the accolades. Let the play do
- 45:31the talking.
- 45:32>> I know how people talk about me. I know
- 45:33a defense coordinator's
- 45:35>> prepared against me.
- 45:36>> I know they're probably happy to not be
- 45:39worrying as much about my legs these
- 45:40days.
- 45:41>> Yeah,
- 45:42>> cuz there was a time I could beat you
- 45:44with my legs.
- 45:45>> I see that.
- 45:45>> I wasn't running for a thousand yards,
- 45:47but I was I was getting out of the
- 45:49pocket making plays.
- 45:50>> You had a few rushing touchdowns last
- 45:51year, though. You still move a little
- 45:53bit.
- 45:53>> One. Hey. Hey. Listen.
- 45:54>> That last one he he made everybody do uh
- 45:57he did everything.
- 45:58>> Mike T. That was one of my favorite
- 46:00things. [laughter]
- 46:01They showed Mike T. He was like doing it
- 46:03a couple times.
- 46:04>> Big third down conversion with your feed
- 46:05too in the Raven game too. Yeah, he made
- 46:07a couple plays.
- 46:08>> I will say when we went to Chicago and
- 46:10you weren't playing, I told TJ, we get a
- 46:13touchdown, you better do the discount
- 46:15double check. And he did it and it went
- 46:18crazy.
- 46:20I hated missing that game with I mean I
- 46:23just could not grip a ball.
- 46:25>> Yeah.
- 46:25>> You know, I wore a cast for like four or
- 46:26five weeks, but I could not grip the
- 46:28ball that week. It was, you know, it was
- 46:316 days after I'd broken it in four
- 46:34spots, but I'm like
- 46:35>> I desperately wanted that was like in
- 46:37the beginning season. It was like, yeah,
- 46:38I wanted to play Green Bay.
- 46:39>> Yeah,
- 46:40>> but it was in Pittsburgh,
- 46:41>> right?
- 46:41>> I could not wait to go back to Soldier
- 46:44Field.
- 46:45>> That would have been
- 46:46>> It just killed me. And the fans were
- 46:48awesome.
- 46:49>> Yeah, it was it was a great environment.
- 46:51>> I love Chicago. I know they hate me. I
- 46:52love Chicago fans.
- 46:54>> Yeah.
- 46:54>> Even when I told them that I own them,
- 46:56it was because everybody in the front
- 46:58row was flipping me off and screaming at
- 47:00me. I was like, but I love that. They
- 47:02are great sports fans.
- 47:04>> Yeah.
- 47:05>> And the interactions were amazing. Like
- 47:07I mean, people were flipping me off in
- 47:08the stands. People like it was I love
- 47:11it.
- 47:11>> What was it part What was it like being
- 47:13part of the AFC North rivalry now?
- 47:15>> It was good. It was really good. You
- 47:16know, it's different. Like it doesn't
- 47:17have the same energy for me just because
- 47:19I grew up with so many of these. I grew
- 47:20up in the league with like playing
- 47:22against Erlacer and Briggs and Peanut
- 47:24Tman in Chicago and playing against
- 47:27>> Vanabos and Sue and Fairley and
- 47:31>> you know all those crazy guys they had
- 47:33there. And then Minnesota was w I mean
- 47:35my first year starting
- 47:36>> they had Pat Williams,
- 47:38>> Kevin Williams,
- 47:38>> Kevin Williams,
- 47:40>> uh
- 47:41>> Jared Allen
- 47:41>> Jared Allen and Edwards I think Edwards.
- 47:44Then you had EJ Henderson, Ben Leieber,
- 47:47Chad Greenway.
- 47:48>> Mhm.
- 47:49>> I mean, they had and uh Antoine Winfield
- 47:52was one of the best,
- 47:54>> you know, outside inside corners that we
- 47:56had seen at that point.
- 47:57>> Yeah.
- 47:57>> You know, like one of, in my opinion,
- 47:58like the three guys that could do it.
- 48:00>> Charles Woodson could do it, Ronda could
- 48:02do it, and Antoine could do it. Like at
- 48:04super high level, cuz playing a nickel
- 48:06at a high level,
- 48:07>> you're on
- 48:07>> is different than playing the outside.
- 48:09>> Yeah. Um, but like growing up in those
- 48:12rivalries, like you just he had so much
- 48:13more opportunities, but I feel the I
- 48:16feel the uh the the hatred in in some of
- 48:19them and I feel like the competitive
- 48:21balance. I was saying last year like we
- 48:24we hated Minnesota and I feel like that
- 48:27is that's the Pittsburgh
- 48:31and
- 48:34uh and um Cleveland [clears throat]
- 48:37>> and then we wanted to beat the Lions and
- 48:42I feel like that's the Cincinnati
- 48:44Pittsburgh.
- 48:45>> Mhm. And then we respect
- 48:48obviously really want to beat him, but
- 48:49there's more of a respect between
- 48:51Pittsburgh [clears throat] and both.
- 48:52>> Maybe I'm wrong, but that's kind of what
- 48:54I
- 48:54>> thought would be in the Super Bowl. And
- 48:55there's just a history there that
- 48:57>> Yeah.
- 48:58>> screams excellence.
- 48:59>> Yeah. All right. I'm going to play a
- 49:00game with you. I'm going to give you
- 49:01five things. You tell me if they're
- 49:02overrated, underrated. All right. PF
- 49:05grades. [laughter]
- 49:07>> PF's a joke.
- 49:09>> Give us your honest opinion because we
- 49:11had Deshawn Elliott on and he went in on
- 49:13PFF.
- 49:14Well, you first have to know some of the
- 49:17ownership of PFF.
- 49:19>> He called that out. Yes, he did.
- 49:20>> Second, they have no idea what scheme
- 49:22you're running, what the
- 49:23responsibilities are, how it all works
- 49:25together.
- 49:29Nothing to say about if I don't I've
- 49:30never even checked my grade. I think
- 49:32it's a joke. The only time I'm ever even
- 49:34exposed to it is if you're watching
- 49:36Sunday Night Football and they put up
- 49:38and it's a joke. You'll be like, "That
- 49:39guy's a really good player and he's
- 49:40rated 34 out of 45." I'm like, who the
- 49:44is judging that?
- 49:45>> Yeah, it's wild.
- 49:46>> His is always pretty good, though. So,
- 49:48his is always good, so he doesn't care.
- 49:50>> Yeah. [snorts and laughter]
- 49:52>> I'm going to go uh NFL combine
- 49:54>> overrated.
- 49:56>> I mean, just the whole the whole setup
- 49:58of it, you know, for me, and this is way
- 49:59back in the day, is like uh I fly from
- 50:02the West Coast and then I have a 5 a.m.
- 50:04drug test. So, that's 2 a.m. on my body
- 50:06clock. Then I do the Cybex, right? And
- 50:09it burns your legs out. Then at the time
- 50:12I had 32 doctors pulling on my one year
- 50:15out of surgery ACL.
- 50:17This is all before I ran. Then another
- 50:19day I went to a random MRI facility and
- 50:22sat there with a sack lunch which was a
- 50:25sandwich and an apple for like 6 hours.
- 50:29They left me there. Then they came back
- 50:30and got me. Yeah. I think it's
- 50:32overrated. [laughter] Yeah. I think
- 50:34there's a better way to do it.
- 50:36No. I don't It's got to have gotten
- 50:38better, but
- 50:39>> Yeah. All right, let's go with one of
- 50:40your favorites. Pat McAfee.
- 50:42>> What's the overrated or underrated?
- 50:44>> Underrated.
- 50:46>> He carries game day and the hate that he
- 50:48gets for that is absolutely asinine.
- 50:51>> Carries game day. I mean, I like Kirby.
- 50:53I've always liked Kirby and Corso. Um,
- 50:56Corso is now retired, but like
- 50:58>> Pat is the show anywhere he goes.
- 51:00>> Well, I think he can do wrestling. He
- 51:02can do, you know, he can do he can do
- 51:03anything he wants really. Were you ever
- 51:05going to go to his concert thing and
- 51:08show up and announce?
- 51:10>> We laughed about it. He's like, "It'd be
- 51:12awesome. He just came in." I said, "I'm
- 51:14not coming."
- 51:14>> Tell the truth. You thought he was
- 51:15coming.
- 51:16>> I thought you were coming. I thought for
- 51:17sure. I told him. I was like,
- 51:18>> he said, "I haven't told anybody that
- 51:19you're coming." I said, "Well, don't
- 51:20tell anybody I'm coming cuz I'm not
- 51:22coming."
- 51:24>> Yeah, that was crazy.
- 51:25>> Overrated, underrated. Mike Tomlin.
- 51:27>> Underrated.
- 51:28>> All right, last one. Podcast.
- 51:30>> Which? Doing podcast.
- 51:32>> Just doing podcast. Oh. I don't know. I
- 51:35don't feel like it's it is what it is. I
- 51:37mean, some are
- 51:38>> some are better than
- 51:39>> really bad and this was not one of
- 51:41those.
- 51:42>> Oh, thanks.
- 51:42>> Well, thanks. Appreciate it.
- 51:43>> I got one for you. Um, talking about
- 51:46butterflies.
- 51:47>> Butterflies.
- 51:48>> Yeah.
- 51:49>> Well, I saw an enigma, so I I figured
- 51:51I'd bring it up. [laughter]
- 51:56I was talking about the whole aspect of
- 51:58the [laughter] butterfly, you know, the
- 52:00the stages.
- 52:03>> Overrated,
- 52:04>> bro. [laughter] How many times have I
- 52:06sent you that one picture of you playing
- 52:07the ball?
- 52:10[laughter]
- 52:12>> Oh, I love
- 52:14having a good time.
- 52:15>> He was fried out.
- 52:16>> He was It's all right, though.
- 52:17>> I was actually was not.
- 52:19>> You were not.
- 52:20>> I was on the comedown.
- 52:21>> Oh. [laughter]
- 52:25The eyes. Everybody's had those eyes
- 52:27before.
- 52:27>> That was after the last. So the last
- 52:29ceremony you start later. So we we
- 52:31usually start like 7, end at 2:00 or
- 52:333:00. This was you start at 9:00 at
- 52:36night
- 52:37>> and you don't stop till the sun up.
- 52:39[laughter]
- 52:40>> Till the sun up. That's crazy.
- 52:42>> Listen, I retired from This is breaking
- 52:45news here. I'm retiring from the NFL in
- 52:47a year.
- 52:49I'm retired from plant [laughter]
- 52:51medicine. effective immediately.
- 52:56I mean, no more memes, [laughter]
- 52:58no more gifts, nothing, please.
- 53:02>> Oh my gosh. Um
- 53:04>> Oh my god.
- 53:04>> The darkness retreat like
- 53:06>> overrated. Overrated.
- 53:08>> Oh yeah.
- 53:09>> Did Did you come out feeling any better?
- 53:11>> No. [laughter]
- 53:12>> No.
- 53:13>> I was bored out of my mind. I would
- 53:15never ever do that again. Would you do
- 53:19the Iawaska?
- 53:24>> I would never say I would never do that
- 53:26again.
- 53:26>> Yeah.
- 53:27>> I think it can really help people. I
- 53:29don't recommend it because
- 53:31it's not easy at all, but
- 53:35I don't know. I mean, I have no plans to
- 53:38do it.
- 53:38>> My wife wanted me to ask this. What were
- 53:41you thinking after you took it? Like,
- 53:42what realization did you come to?
- 53:44>> I mean, it was really important for me
- 53:45in my journey where I was at. um for
- 53:50healing, self-healing, and then healing,
- 53:52you know, some of the relationships
- 53:53around me. Um, also, you know, I've
- 53:57always been fascinated by the, uh, the
- 53:59idea that there's more going on in the
- 54:01world than you can see,
- 54:02>> and that opened my eyes to a lot of
- 54:04that.
- 54:05>> But, um, yeah, I mean, it's some people
- 54:08I took many people over the years, and
- 54:11some people are blocked and didn't have
- 54:12a whole lot go on. Some people had some
- 54:14more magical experiences. I've had, you
- 54:17know, a little bit of both. I mean,
- 54:19>> what's the craziest thing you've seen?
- 54:20>> I can't even say this is sanctity of it.
- 54:23>> Yeah, you just got to let him. You Why
- 54:24don't you try it and you can you can
- 54:26give your own experience.
- 54:28>> Listen, I'll just say that me personally
- 54:30like the like the the night that of the
- 54:34bongos, right? [laughter]
- 54:36I had the the giggles for hours. I was
- 54:41just so happy. I had the giggles for
- 54:44hours. I sat in front of the maestro.
- 54:47There was like a man and then his wife
- 54:49and then like a couple other women. And
- 54:52he was playing the guitar. And as I sat
- 54:54in front of him, he didn't have a head.
- 54:57[laughter]
- 54:59You didn't have a head. I thought it was
- 55:01the funniest thing ever. I could not
- 55:03stop laughing, but nobody was around me
- 55:04to like laugh with me. And then uh Yeah.
- 55:07So you do some hallucination
- 55:09hallucinating.
- 55:10>> Oh god.
- 55:11>> That was uh that was pretty wild.
- 55:13He actually had a head. Obviously
- 55:15obviously hallucinating.
- 55:17>> Of course. Of course.
- 55:18>> Next morning you're like, "Oh, he does
- 55:19have a head."
- 55:20>> Oh, there it is. [laughter]
- 55:21>> All right, Aaron. We like to play a game
- 55:22here with all of our guests. You've been
- 55:23great answering all of our questions.
- 55:25Now it's your turn to ask Cam any
- 55:26question you want. He has to answer
- 55:28every question and as many as you want.
- 55:30The floor is yours, my friend.
- 55:34>> I wasn't prepared for this.
- 55:36>> I told you this yesterday. Why are you
- 55:38lying?
- 55:40>> Well, let's see here. Do you want to do
- 55:41plant medicine? Is that why you're
- 55:43asking me? Are you open to it?
- 55:44>> I would like you to actually if he
- 55:46wanted to get into it, slowly get him
- 55:47into it. Cam is kind of a straight laced
- 55:49guy. So, how would you go about that?
- 55:50Actually,
- 55:52[laughter]
- 55:53>> to an extent, grow it up. He was He was
- 55:54our DD growing up to be honest.
- 55:56>> I was DD growing up.
- 55:58>> So was I.
- 55:59>> It happened.
- 55:59>> We turned out pretty good.
- 56:00>> Yeah. Good job.
- 56:02>> Um, okay. I'll ask you two questions.
- 56:05All right.
- 56:06>> First one is uh I like this question.
- 56:09That's why I'm asking it to you. like
- 56:11what what would you tell your
- 56:16young self in the league young self
- 56:17first couple years
- 56:19>> cuz I remember for me like I was so
- 56:21nervous all the time like
- 56:23>> it just I made me like miss out on some
- 56:26of the joy in this because I just was so
- 56:28crazy to like perform well and study all
- 56:30night and
- 56:31>> you know like and really it's not that
- 56:34serious you know like it's important but
- 56:36like can't miss out on the I would say
- 56:38you can't miss out on the the fun with
- 56:41the guys and the lessons in the locker
- 56:42room. But what would you tell your
- 56:44younger self?
- 56:45>> I think the thing I struggled with my
- 56:47first couple years was not playing. Um,
- 56:50and
- 56:51>> how many years you not play?
- 56:53>> First two years I barely touched the
- 56:55field. And so I would go I would go to
- 56:58the game like upset. I think I cried
- 57:01before even getting to the stadium cuz I
- 57:03wanted to play so bad. Um, but I never
- 57:06let that affect like relationships and
- 57:08like teammates because like I love those
- 57:10dudes and like I respect them. Like
- 57:12these dudes just went to the Super Bowl
- 57:13and lost. Like I'm appreciative just to
- 57:16be here, but like I want to be on the
- 57:17field. But I think just understanding
- 57:19the patience of it all cuz like you want
- 57:22to be in this thing for a long time and
- 57:23like you want to appreciate these
- 57:25moments, but like your time's going to
- 57:27come. Like you just got to you got to be
- 57:29ready. And I was, but you know, I
- 57:32remember just calling me like, "Man, I
- 57:33don't even want to go to the game
- 57:34because I'm just so upset because I want
- 57:35to be out there with those dudes." Like,
- 57:37you you create these relationships.
- 57:39You're like, "Man, I want to I want to
- 57:41give everything I can to him." And like,
- 57:44you know, when you're only doing field
- 57:45goal,
- 57:47you're [clears throat and snorts] not
- 57:48doing anything. And so, I always felt
- 57:49like, how am I like supposed to pull my
- 57:53weight? how am I supposed to like cuz I
- 57:54I felt like I dealt with like imposttor
- 57:56syndrome for so long
- 57:58>> because like I wasn't doing enough and I
- 58:01still feel that way but like it's just
- 58:03like you have to be patient with your
- 58:06time and really work on your craft
- 58:07during that time and which I did but it
- 58:10was hard for me to understand that at
- 58:11first.
- 58:13>> All right, I got one more question. It's
- 58:14a multi-parter.
- 58:15>> Mhm.
- 58:16>> How old were you when your father
- 58:17passed?
- 58:18>> I was 16 going on 17. All right. So, my
- 58:22two-parter is like first, for those of
- 58:25us that never got to meet him.
- 58:27>> Yeah.
- 58:27>> Like, what was he like and what's like
- 58:30your fondest memory? Number one. And
- 58:32then number two, like
- 58:34how has like his life and death affected
- 58:38your
- 58:39relationship with your wife and your
- 58:42kids, like being a father?
- 58:44>> Well, I answer the last part first, like
- 58:46meeting my wife and seeing my kids. Um,
- 58:51I feel like I'm always going to miss
- 58:53that part of them getting to meet my
- 58:55dad. Like I get to see I look at my kids
- 58:59and I can say like, man, they're
- 59:00stubborn as hell. But that was my dad to
- 59:03a like a tea. And you know how Cal can
- 59:05be. Cal is just [snorts]
- 59:07Cal changes the room. Like he is the
- 59:10life of the party. That's my dad on
- 59:12steroids. like and you know I I think
- 59:16those special moments where I don't get
- 59:18to have I get I don't get to have him in
- 59:21the room I miss that like I don't get to
- 59:24have my dad at
- 59:27Christmas or I don't get to have him for
- 59:29their birthdays and like missing these
- 59:33monumental moments in my life I'm always
- 59:35pretty upset about I don't like to talk
- 59:38about it because like you know it's near
- 59:40and dear to my heart but like those
- 59:41people,
- 59:43they should have had an experience with
- 59:44him. And so, like when I was fortunate
- 59:47enough and my dad was getting kicked out
- 59:49of basketball courts and stadiums cuz
- 59:52he's yelling from the sideline and he
- 59:55got kicked out of a church league cuz he
- 59:56was cursing out the ref, which was
- 59:58crazy. Or, you know, my dad used to
- 1:00:01always go to take me to school and be
- 1:00:03blaring rap music [laughter] on like
- 1:00:06embarrassing the out of me and I hated
- 1:00:08that. But like looking back I'm like
- 1:00:11>> damn my dad was cool as like and so
- 1:00:13having those moments like wrapped up in
- 1:00:15me where like man I wish like I they
- 1:00:18could experience that and have their
- 1:00:20grandfather around. I wish they got to
- 1:00:22do that too.
- 1:00:23>> Yeah.
- 1:00:23>> Yeah. It's cool.
- 1:00:24>> Thank you.
- 1:00:25>> Thank you. Thank you for doing this
- 1:00:27podcast. I think it's been awesome to
- 1:00:29just let you explain and
- 1:00:31>> talk about what you wanted to talk
- 1:00:33about.
- 1:00:33>> You promised it was not just football.
- 1:00:35>> You did. We went there.
- 1:00:37>> Yeah. We gave you the platform. Is there
- 1:00:39anything we missed that you wish you
- 1:00:40could have talked about?
- 1:00:40>> There's I mean multi- multi-part I can
- 1:00:43go on and on like what do you want to
- 1:00:44talk about? Let's [laughter] go.
- 1:00:46>> We'll have to do another part another
- 1:00:48time.
- 1:00:48>> I think the thing you know the thing is
- 1:00:50like that I would just to answer my own
- 1:00:52question like
- 1:00:55>> the beauty in aging
- 1:00:56>> Yeah. is
- 1:00:59experience, you know, and the experience
- 1:01:02>> like I look at like the older people I
- 1:01:05respect the most and they don't lose any
- 1:01:09>> energy, sleep, time to worrying about
- 1:01:12what other people think about them.
- 1:01:13>> But when you're young, that's really
- 1:01:15hard. When you grow up in the league,
- 1:01:16that's really hard
- 1:01:17>> because you care so desperately about
- 1:01:19>> and I don't care about, you know, like
- 1:01:23being right or being righteous anymore.
- 1:01:25>> Yeah. I just I do care about the truth
- 1:01:27and I care about what people have been
- 1:01:30saying about me for a long time,
- 1:01:31narratives that are just not true. And I
- 1:01:34think part of the beauty in going to the
- 1:01:37Jets and to the Steelers is I was around
- 1:01:39new people that hadn't been around. And
- 1:01:40so people got to see a different side of
- 1:01:41me. And if you go back to the 2023
- 1:01:43summer, people really enjoyed Hard
- 1:01:45Knocks, learned more about me. Now they
- 1:01:48I got hurt, then I talked about COVID,
- 1:01:49then they all turned back on me again
- 1:01:51>> um in 2023. But then coming here, I did
- 1:01:53want a clean slate and I wanted people
- 1:01:55to get to know me for who I am, that I
- 1:01:57desperately love football. I love
- 1:01:58competing and that I have a heart for my
- 1:02:01teammates, you know. So all these
- 1:02:02narratives out there, you know, that my
- 1:02:05exes were saying that two early two
- 1:02:08former teammates said, um, [laughter]
- 1:02:11and the co stuff has painted this
- 1:02:13picture of who I am. That's just not an
- 1:02:15accurate representation. And as I blend
- 1:02:18into obscurity, which I really look
- 1:02:20forward to after this season.
- 1:02:21>> No, you're gonna be you're gonna be on
- 1:02:23TV with Mike T.
- 1:02:24>> These will be the last words [laughter]
- 1:02:25that you'll hear from me. And might as
- 1:02:28well go out with a bang with the truth.
- 1:02:30Whether or not you want to hear it,
- 1:02:31that's fine. Doesn't have doesn't bother
- 1:02:33me. Whether or not you actually hear it
- 1:02:35cuz some people hear, but they're not
- 1:02:36listening.
- 1:02:37>> Yeah.
- 1:02:37>> Whether you hear it doesn't bother me.
- 1:02:40Whether you actually hear what I'm
- 1:02:42trying to say, that's up to you. But I'm
- 1:02:44going to keep speaking the truth. and I
- 1:02:46appreciate the platform to do it on your
- 1:02:47show and hopefully some extra eyes will
- 1:02:49come to it.
- 1:02:50>> Appreciate that.
- 1:02:51>> And uh get on board with the Steelers
- 1:02:53this year cuz uh it's going to be a fun
- 1:02:56last ride.
- 1:02:57>> We'll see. Maybe there's another year.
- 1:02:59>> Oh, don't do [laughter] that. Don't do
- 1:03:01that to him again.
- 1:03:02>> Don't do it. No more bongos. [laughter]
- 1:03:06>> Can we at least get an Enigma part two?
- 1:03:08>> Oh, no. [clears throat]
- 1:03:09>> I want you to do one. I want you to do
- 1:03:10one. You should do one. Your last
- 1:03:11season. We'll take it down to the
- 1:03:13jungle.
- 1:03:14>> Show. Bring the show. Can we all go? I
- 1:03:16would love that.
- 1:03:18>> Take people out.
- 1:03:19>> You You laugh a lot. If I could have one
- 1:03:22wish, God, please in this world, great
- 1:03:25spirit, whoever's up there. I just I
- 1:03:29want Cam to experience one night of a
- 1:03:32and then put some bongos in front of
- 1:03:34him. When you're on, you can't help but
- 1:03:36play the bongos. You're so excited.
- 1:03:38[laughter] Bongos are fun and they're
- 1:03:39just they're kind of a rudimentary. Like
- 1:03:41there's not a whole lot going on. Sounds
- 1:03:42like variance of sound is just very
- 1:03:44little between the different parts of
- 1:03:45the bongo. But when you're playing those
- 1:03:47things and you've had a little medicine,
- 1:03:49oh my god, you think you're the greatest
- 1:03:51drummer in the history of the world,
- 1:03:53there's not anything more fun in your
- 1:03:55mind. Like you look at my pictures,
- 1:03:56there's any how could there be anything
- 1:03:57more fun in this moment right now than
- 1:03:59playing a bunkas
- 1:04:00>> in front of a headless guitarist.
- 1:04:01[laughter]
- 1:04:03Headless guitar.
- 1:04:04>> Full circle.
- 1:04:06>> All right. I I'll I don't know.
- 1:04:08>> Next year. Hi, Wasa. We're going with
- 1:04:10it.
- 1:04:10>> Wow. I'll set you guys up. Sounds good.
- 1:04:12>> You have to come.
- 1:04:13>> We're doing it.
- 1:04:13>> You have to go out and join us.
- 1:04:15>> We're doing it.
- 1:04:16>> Let's see. You got bongos.
- 1:04:17>> We'll get We'll make sure we got bongos.
- 1:04:19>> We got plenty of bongos.
- 1:04:20>> Yeah, we will.
- 1:04:21>> All right, Aaron, I want to say thank
- 1:04:22you so much for coming on. It's been a
- 1:04:23pleasure. Um there's not much more I can
- 1:04:26say right now. Love to do this later.
- 1:04:28>> Mhm.
- 1:04:28>> After we win the Super Bowl.
- 1:04:29>> Okay.
- 1:04:30>> All right.
- 1:04:30>> After we win it.
- 1:04:31>> After we win it.
- 1:04:32>> Definitely not doing this on ESPN.
- 1:04:35[laughter]
- 1:04:36>> No.
- 1:04:36>> And that's how And that's how we ended
- 1:04:38right there. All right. Thank you so
- 1:04:40much for listening to the pod. Like and
- 1:04:41subscribe and we'll see you next time.
