- 0:00hey everybody welcome to this a2 English
- 0:03listening practice video you can use
- 0:05this video to train your listening and
- 0:08comprehension as I speak so today I'm
- 0:11going to talk about sports this is a
- 0:14topic that some of you might really like
- 0:16and some of you might not like it at all
- 0:20I've always been an athletic person so I
- 0:23like sports when I was young I played a
- 0:26ton of sports I tried playing almost all
- 0:29of the major sports during my childhood
- 0:32one of the first sports I played was
- 0:35t-ball you might not have heard of this
- 0:38sport before because it's only for small
- 0:40children
- 0:41I played t-ball when I was like four or
- 0:44five years old it's like baseball but
- 0:47easier and simpler after t-ball I
- 0:51started playing soccer in the US many
- 0:54children play soccer but not many adults
- 0:58play soccer soccer isn't as popular in
- 1:01the US as it is in other countries I
- 1:04also played baseball tennis and
- 1:07basketball when I was young out of all
- 1:10these sports my favorite sport was
- 1:12definitely basketball I continued
- 1:16playing basketball until I was 17 and
- 1:18then I stopped I was pretty tall when I
- 1:22was young so I had an advantage when I
- 1:24played basketball the other kids were
- 1:27shorter than me I was the tallest person
- 1:30on my middle-school team this means that
- 1:33I could score pretty easily but when I
- 1:36was in high school the other kids grew
- 1:38and then I wasn't much taller than them
- 1:41so I couldn't score easily anymore maybe
- 1:45that's why I quit basketball I played
- 1:48tennis a lot when I was young too my
- 1:51whole family really likes tennis so my
- 1:54parents made me play when I was young I
- 1:56don't think I liked it that much when I
- 1:58started but later I began to like it
- 2:01more I was actually pretty good I took
- 2:05many lessons in played in some different
- 2:07tennis tournaments but I quit tennis
- 2:10because I was more focused on basket
- 2:13also when I was 16 I wanted to play
- 2:16football American football you might not
- 2:19know much about American football but
- 2:21it's probably the most popular sport for
- 2:24men in the u.s. well I also really liked
- 2:27football and I wanted to play on my high
- 2:30school team I trained with them for some
- 2:33months but I wasn't that serious about
- 2:35it the team practiced a lot like every
- 2:39day and I couldn't do that so in the end
- 2:42I didn't play after high school I
- 2:45started playing golf golf is one of the
- 2:48funnest sports in my opinion it's super
- 2:52hard maybe the hardest sport of all but
- 2:55that's what makes it so addicting you
- 2:58feel really proud when you hit a good
- 3:00shot because you know how difficult it
- 3:02is to do that it's also really
- 3:04frustrating when you mess up
- 3:06so sometimes golf is not fun but when
- 3:10you have a good day on the course
- 3:11there's nothing like it it's so
- 3:14addicting nowadays I don't really play
- 3:18any sports anymore I honestly don't have
- 3:21a lot of time to play sports and I don't
- 3:23have the same motivation that I had when
- 3:26I was young now I'm more motivated to do
- 3:29other things but I still enjoy playing
- 3:32sports from time to time now let's talk
- 3:35about watching sports
- 3:37some people prefer watching sports
- 3:40rather than playing them I used to love
- 3:43watching sports I was probably a little
- 3:46too obsessed my favorite football team
- 3:49when I was younger was the Seattle
- 3:52Seahawks and I watched every one of
- 3:54their games I would get really excited
- 3:57when they made it to the playoffs and I
- 4:00celebrated like crazy when they won the
- 4:02Super Bowl but I think I spent too much
- 4:05time and energy being a football fan
- 4:08nowadays I don't really watch football
- 4:11anymore I was also a big LA Lakers fan
- 4:15when I was younger I was lucky because I
- 4:18got to see them win the championship
- 4:20five times when I was a kid I used to
- 4:24dream of playing for the lake
- 4:26when I got older these days the only
- 4:29sport I watch is soccer I think I
- 4:32started getting into soccer when I was
- 4:34an adult like I said before I played
- 4:37when I was a kid but I always preferred
- 4:41other sports but as an adult soccer is
- 4:45definitely my favorite sport besides the
- 4:48normal sports I've also done some
- 4:50extreme sports like skateboarding and
- 4:53snowboarding I used to skateboard a lot
- 4:57when I was in high school and I also
- 4:59filmed some skate videos with my friends
- 5:02I would say that I was never really good
- 5:04though I always liked watching other
- 5:08people do tricks that I couldn't do as
- 5:11for snowboarding I've only gone three
- 5:14times but I found it really fun the
- 5:17first time was not good because I fell
- 5:20down dozens of times but the second and
- 5:23third time were much better once I
- 5:26started to understand how to move
- 5:29correctly it became fun I can't wait to
- 5:32go snowboarding again okay that's all
- 5:35for today leave a comment and tell me
- 5:38what your favorite sport is I'll see you
- 5:41next video
