- 0:19gonna talk about jobs this is a really
- 0:23common topic because most adults have a
- 0:27job or some type of work let's talk
- 0:30about the different types of jobs that
- 0:33people have one common type of job is a
- 0:37part-time job a part-time job is a job
- 0:41where you work fewer hours I have
- 0:44part-time jobs when I was younger I
- 0:47worked part-time at a clothing store at
- 0:50a restaurant and at my university many
- 0:54students have part-time jobs they study
- 0:58in the morning and work in the evening I
- 1:01did this when I was a student in the
- 1:04u.s. many teenagers get a job when
- 1:08they're in high school I got my first
- 1:11job when I was 17 I was in my last year
- 1:15of high school
- 1:16I worked at a clothing store called
- 1:19Hollister I didn't like that job but I
- 1:23liked earning money some of my
- 1:26classmates worked at fast-food
- 1:28restaurants like McDonald's I also had a
- 1:32part-time job when I was in college when
- 1:36I was in college I worked at the
- 1:38university's dining hall a dining hall
- 1:42is the place on a university campus
- 1:45where students eat I worked as a cook
- 1:48and a dishwasher at my dining hall I
- 1:52didn't like washing dishes
- 1:54I liked cooking more than dishwashing
- 1:57how about you have you ever had a
- 2:00part-time job okay now let's talk about
- 2:03full-time jobs in the US people who have
- 2:07full-time jobs usually work 40 hours
- 2:11week or more some people work a lot more
- 2:15like 50 or 60 hours a week for some
- 2:19full-time jobs you need a college degree
- 2:22for other full-time jobs you don't need
- 2:26a degree in the u.s. there are many
- 2:29different jobs available in different
- 2:32industries
- 2:34some examples of industries are finance
- 2:38marketing medicine IT and education I
- 2:42work in the education industry because
- 2:46I'm a teacher there are many good jobs
- 2:49in the US for people who don't have
- 2:51degrees for example you can be an
- 2:54electrician a plumber a truck driver or
- 2:58many other things people who have these
- 3:01jobs make good money in the u.s. most
- 3:05salaries in America are high compared to
- 3:08other countries
- 3:10Americans make a lot of money but they
- 3:13have to spend a lot of money
- 3:15life is very expensive in the u.s. the
- 3:19normal schedule for full-time jobs is
- 3:22from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the US
- 3:26however some people start work earlier
- 3:29like at 8:00 a.m.
- 3:31and other people and later like at 6:00
- 3:35p.m. I start work pretty early at 7:30
- 3:39a.m. but I also finished early at 4:30
- 3:43p.m.
- 3:43I prefer starting work early and
- 3:46finishing work early most people work
- 3:49Monday to Friday and they have weekends
- 3:52off most people don't like working on
- 3:56the weekends I work in the morning on
- 3:59Saturdays but I have Sundays off I never
- 4:03work on Sundays how about you what's
