  11. 0:25this is an essential topic because
  12. 0:28education is an important part of our
  13. 0:31lives
  14. 0:32most people get some kind of education
  15. 0:36education is different in different
  16. 0:39countries
  17. 0:40but today we'll talk about education
  18. 0:44in the u.s so first let's talk about the
  19. 0:48different
  20. 0:48levels of education in the u.s
  21. 0:52the first level of education is
  22. 0:54preschool
  23. 0:55in the u.s kids go to preschool
  24. 0:58when they're four years old but not
  25. 1:02everyone goes to preschool some people
  26. 1:05don't go i went to preschool when i was
  27. 1:08four
  28. 1:09i didn't like it because i was very shy
  29. 1:13i didn't like playing with other kids
  30. 1:16when i was young in preschool children
  31. 1:19play a lot but they also learn
  32. 1:23after preschool children go to
  33. 1:25kindergarten
  34. 1:27usually kids start kindergarten when
  35. 1:30they're
  36. 1:305 years old in kindergarten children
  37. 1:33start learning more things for example
  38. 1:37they learn to read write and make art
  39. 1:40they also learn how to be good students
  40. 1:44i remember that when i was in
  41. 1:46kindergarten
  42. 1:47we had discipline if we did something
  43. 1:50bad
  44. 1:51we got in trouble i never got in trouble
  45. 1:55because i was a good student so
  46. 1:58after kindergarten you go to elementary
  47. 2:01school
  48. 2:02in the u.s most elementary schools
  49. 2:05include 1st second third
  50. 2:08fourth fifth and sixth grade
  51. 2:11but some elementary schools don't
  52. 2:14include
  53. 2:14sixth grade in each year of elementary
  54. 2:18school
  55. 2:18you only have one teacher you have
  56. 2:22the same teacher all year in my opinion
  57. 2:26elementary school isn't that difficult
  58. 2:29in the us of course you get homework
  59. 2:33but it's not too much in elementary
  60. 2:36school
  61. 2:37you learn many things like math
  62. 2:40science history and english
  63. 2:43at this level you spend about 6 hours
  64. 2:47at school then after elementary school
  65. 2:51you go to middle school or junior high
  66. 2:54i say middle school but both of these
  67. 2:57names
  68. 2:58are correct middle school usually
  69. 3:01includes
  70. 3:017th and 8th grade at this level
  71. 3:05students have many teachers like six
  72. 3:08or seven i had six different classes
  73. 3:12each year in middle school each class
  74. 3:15was one hour long i didn't like middle
  75. 3:18school
  76. 3:19it's much harder than elementary school
  77. 3:22you get more homework and you have more
  78. 3:25tests
  79. 3:26then after middle school you go to high
  80. 3:29school
  81. 3:30in the u.s high school includes 9th
  82. 3:3410th 11th and 12th grade
  83. 3:37this is the most important time for
  84. 3:40students
  85. 3:40in the u.s if you want to go to college
  86. 3:44then it's important to do well in high
  87. 3:47school
  88. 3:48high school can be difficult but it
  89. 3:51depends on your teachers
  90. 3:53some teachers give a lot of homework and
  91. 3:56some teachers
  92. 3:57don't and some teachers are good at
  93. 4:00teaching
  94. 4:01and some teachers aren't i had some good
  95. 4:04teachers in high school
  96. 4:06but i also had some bad teachers
  97. 4:09so after high school some people go to
  98. 4:12college
  99. 4:13and some people don't of course there
  100. 4:16are
  101. 4:16different levels of university and you
  102. 4:20can
  103. 4:20earn different degrees there okay
  104. 4:23so lastly let's look at a few important
  105. 4:27vocabulary words
  106. 4:29related to education first let's talk
  107. 4:32about the word
  108. 4:34grades we use the word grades
  109. 4:37to talk about how well you did in a
  110. 4:40class
  111. 4:41or on a test in the us
  112. 4:44these grades are a b
  113. 4:47c d and f an a
  114. 4:51grade is the best and an f
  115. 4:54grade is the worst okay the next word
  116. 4:58is recess in the u.s
  117. 5:01recess is the short break that
  118. 5:04elementary school students have during
  119. 5:07their school day
  120. 5:09during recess students play
  121. 5:12talk or eat a snack this break
  122. 5:16is usually 20 or 30 minutes
  123. 5:19okay the last phrase you should learn is
  124. 5:22bachelor's degree a bachelor's degree
  125. 5:26is the degree you get after four years
  126. 5:29of university it's lower than a master's
  127. 5:33degree
