- 0:00Hey everybody, welcome to this A1
- 0:02English listening practice video. You
- 0:05can use this video to train your
- 0:07listening and comprehension as I speak.
- 0:10You ready? So today I'm going to talk
- 0:13about cooking. I do not know how to
- 0:17cook. So I do not know a lot about this
- 0:20topic. However, I like eating so I like
- 0:24talking about food in general. I am
- 0:27lucky because my wife cooks very well.
- 0:31She has a natural talent for cooking.
- 0:34So, she cooks well. That means that I
- 0:37eat well. Let me tell you about some of
- 0:40the things that my wife cooks. Since she
- 0:43is Mexican, she likes cooking Mexican
- 0:46food. Sometimes she makes tacos, which
- 0:49are delicious. There are many types of
- 0:52tacos, so my wife can cook different
- 0:55tacos each time. I also cooked tacos in
- 0:59the past, but I don't cook well, so my
- 1:02tacos weren't very good. I cooked tacos
- 1:06lenua, tongue tacos, but I didn't cook
- 1:09them very well. My wife cooks much
- 1:12better. The only thing that I cook well
- 1:16is eggs. I love eggs and I eat them
- 1:20almost every morning. I think eggs are
- 1:23the best breakfast food. I usually eat
- 1:27scrambled eggs, but I also eat other
- 1:30types of eggs, too. My favorite type is
- 1:34eggs benedict. M. This is my favorite
- 1:37breakfast. Have you tried eggs benedict?
- 1:41So, my wife also makes pasta. She makes
- 1:45really good pasta. She doesn't buy the
- 1:48pasta in the box that you buy from the
- 1:51store. She makes the pasta by hand. She
- 1:55makes the noodles and they taste so
- 1:58good. When you make pasta by hand, it
- 2:02tastes better. I love all types of
- 2:05pasta, but my favorite is ravioli. For
- 2:09me, ravioli is the perfect food.
- 2:13Actually, I like all Italian food. When
- 2:16we were in Italy, we ate some amazing
- 2:20food. My wife also cooks a lot of meat.
- 2:24We like eating different cuts of steak
- 2:28every week. We try to buy cheap meat
- 2:32because meat can be expensive. We don't
- 2:35want to spend a lot of money, so we buy
- 2:38cheap meat. My wife cooks the meat in a
- 2:42pan, which is easy. Other people cook
- 2:45their meat on a grill. We don't have a
- 2:48grill, so we use a pan. I think that
- 2:52meat tastes good if it's cooked on a pan
- 2:56or on a grill. Meat is always good. I
- 3:00hope my wife cooks meat tonight. She
- 3:02also cooks really good breakfast. She
- 3:06makes really good pancakes. I like to
- 3:09eat pancakes with maple syrup and peanut
- 3:12butter. I know that's a little strange,
- 3:15but it's delicious. I love pancakes and
- 3:19peanut butter. My wife also cooks
- 3:22chilakilles, a common Mexican breakfast.
- 3:26This is my favorite breakfast in the
- 3:28world. I love chilakilles.
- 3:32This dish has tortilla chips, salsa,
- 3:36cheese, and cream. I like it with eggs
- 3:40on top. It's so good. I don't know which
- 3:43is better, breakfast or dinner. In my
- 3:47family, we cook dinner 5 days a week.
- 3:51The other days we go out to eat dinner
- 3:54or we eat dinner with other people.
- 3:58Sometimes we eat dinner with my parents
- 4:01and other times we eat dinner with my
- 4:04sister. Tonight we will eat dinner with
- 4:07my parents and my mother will cook
- 4:10dinner. When I was a kid, my mother
- 4:13cooked dinner every weekday. Every
- 4:16evening, we ate dinner at 6:30 p.m.
- 4:20every day. Do you eat dinner at the same
- 4:23time every day? In the US, it's common
- 4:26for families to eat dinner together. We
- 4:30sit together at the table. We eat and we
- 4:34talk about our day. Dinner time is
- 4:37important in the US. In other countries,
- 4:41people eat dinner late, like at 8:00
- 4:43p.m. or 900 p.m. But this is too late
- 4:47for me. I don't want to eat dinner late.
- 4:51I like eating dinner at 5, 6, or 700
- 4:55p.m. This is a good time for dinner.
- 4:59What do you like eating for dinner? I
- 5:02like every type of food from every
- 5:05country. I can eat anything and I love
- 5:09trying new foods. Like I said, I don't
- 5:12cook well, but I eat well. Maybe I will
- 5:16learn to cook in the future, but I don't
- 5:19know. I don't like cooking and I don't
- 5:22have the natural talent to cook. I
- 5:26prefer eating, not cooking. My wife
- 5:30cooks very well, so I don't need to
- 5:33learn. I'm thankful for that. Okay, we
- 5:36are finished for today. Leave a comment
- 5:39and tell me if you like cooking. I'll
- 5:42see you next video.
