  23. 0:52that is a summary of my report on a

  27. 1:07a democracy is a political system in
  28. 1:10which the people periodically by
  29. 1:11majority vote at the polls select their
  30. 1:13rulers the rulers then have absolute
  31. 1:15power to make whatever laws they please
  32. 1:18by majority vote among themselves in a
  33. 1:20constitutional republic the people also
  34. 1:22by majority vote as opposed select
  35. 1:24rulers who make laws by majority vote
  36. 1:26among themselves but the rulers cannot
  37. 1:29make any laws they please because the
  38. 1:31Constitution's severely restricts their
  39. 1:32lawmaking power the ideal of a democracy
  40. 1:36is Universal equality the ideal of a
  41. 1:39constitutional republic is individual
  42. 1:41liberty in this century great strides
  43. 1:43have been made or the goal of subverting
  44. 1:46our republic and transforming it into a
  45. 1:47democracy the foremost tactic of the
  46. 1:50subvert or subversion of language by
  47. 1:53calling America a democracy until people
  48. 1:56thoughtlessly accept and use the term
  49. 1:59totalitarians
  50. 2:00have obscured the real meaning of
  51. 2:02American principles of government note
  52. 2:04the following passages from a recent
  53. 2:07article distributed by the New York
  54. 2:08Times News Service quote in the United
  55. 2:11States and in other leading democracies
  56. 2:13recent years have seen perceptible
  57. 2:16growth in executive authority as society
  58. 2:19becomes more equalitarian it tends
  59. 2:21increasingly to concentrate absolute
  60. 2:24power in the hands of one single man
  61. 2:26this is a voluntary surrender of a free
  62. 2:29people escaping from freedom to one
  63. 2:32autocratic master in quote and note the
  64. 2:35following from gunnar myrdal's an
  65. 2:37American dilemma quote in America
  66. 2:39Liberty often provided an opportunity
  67. 2:42for the stronger to rob the weaker
  68. 2:44against this the equalitarian ISM in the
  69. 2:47American creed has been persistently
  70. 2:50revolting and in the conflict between
  71. 2:52equality and liberty equality is slowly
  72. 2:56winning in America conservatism has to a
  73. 2:59great extent been perverted into a cult
  74. 3:02of the Constitution this is unfortunate
  75. 3:05since the Constitution is in many
  76. 3:06respects impractical and ill suited for
  77. 3:09modern conditions the worship of the
  78. 3:12Constitution is also a most flagrant
  79. 3:15violation of the American creed the
  80. 3:18Constitutional Convention was nearly
  81. 3:19a-plus
  82. 3:20against the common people end quote now
  83. 3:23goon are mere dolly Swedish socialism
  84. 3:26was hired by the Carnegie Corporation of
  85. 3:28New York in 1937 to direct a study of
  86. 3:30the Negro in the United States engaged
  87. 3:33the large staff some of them Communists
  88. 3:35and pro-communist an American dilemma
  89. 3:37resulted first copyrighted in the United
  90. 3:39States in 1944 in 1954 the Supreme Court
  91. 3:44handed down his school segregation
  92. 3:46decision which deliberately violated the
  93. 3:49Constitution reversed a previous Supreme
  94. 3:51Court decision and lit a fuse touching
  95. 3:54off explosive violence which has been
  96. 3:56shattering our society ever since the
  97. 3:59court cited an American dilemma as one
  98. 4:02of the modern authorities on which it
  99. 4:03relied in preference to the Constitution
  100. 4:06for justification of its decision an
  101. 4:09American dilemma written by Swedish
  102. 4:11socialists provided a basic rationale
  103. 4:14for the conversion of our Free Republic
  104. 4:16into an equalitarian democracy mere doll
  105. 4:20contains that the American Declaration
  106. 4:21of Independence 1776 proclaimed the
  107. 4:25ideal of an equalitarian democracy
  108. 4:27because it contains the phrase all men
  109. 4:29are created equal
  110. 4:3011 years later the Constitution created
  111. 4:33not a democracy founded on the idea of
  112. 4:35equality but a Republic founded on the
  113. 4:38ideal of Liberty this is by a mere doll
  114. 4:40says the Constitutional Convention was
  115. 4:42nearly a plot against the common people
  116. 4:45but he and those who parrot his ideas
  117. 4:48are either ignorant or dishonest the
  118. 4:50Constitution was ordained specifically
  119. 4:53to safeguard the principles of Liberty
  120. 4:55proclaimed by the Declaration of
  121. 4:57Independence the Declaration sprayed all
  122. 5:00men are created equal means that men are
  123. 5:03equal before the law and before the
  124. 5:06Creator regardless of their inequality
  125. 5:08in human society the Declaration says
  126. 5:11that men are endowed with unalienable
  127. 5:13rights and that the purpose of
  128. 5:15government is to secure these rights the
  129. 5:18unalienable rights of man enumerated in
  130. 5:20the Declaration of Independence do not
  131. 5:22include equality but they do include
  132. 5:24Liberty along with life and pursuit of
  133. 5:27happiness equality of all men in the
  134. 5:30eyes of God and before the law is a
  135. 5:32condition essential to freedom
  136. 5:34but no other kind of equality is
  137. 5:36possible government efforts to achieve
  138. 5:39material equality will produce crushing
  139. 5:42tyranny but will not make people equal
  140. 5:45the writers of the Constitution were
  141. 5:47anxious to safeguard Liberty against
  142. 5:50dictatorship monarchy they called it but
  143. 5:52their chief anxiety was to protect the
  144. 5:55country against democracy Edmund
  145. 5:57Randolph delegate to the Constitutional
  146. 5:59Convention from Virginia said the
  147. 6:01general object of the Convention was to
  148. 6:03provide a cure for the follies and fury
  149. 6:06of democracy Elbridge Gerry and Roger
  150. 6:09Sherman delegates from Massachusetts and
  151. 6:10Connecticut urged the Constitutional
  152. 6:13Convention to create a system to
  153. 6:14eliminate the evils that flow from the
  154. 6:16excess of democracy Alexander Hamilton
  155. 6:19delegate from New York said we are now
  156. 6:21farming a republican government real
  157. 6:23Liberty is not found in democracy we
  158. 6:25incline too much to democracy we shall
  159. 6:28soon shoot into a monarchy John Adams
  160. 6:31one of the Giants of the American
  161. 6:33Revolutionary period said democracy will
  162. 6:36end we all contend with all endeavor to
  163. 6:39pull down all and when by chance it
  164. 6:42happens to get the upper hand for a
  165. 6:44short time democracy will be revengeful
  166. 6:46bloody and cruel speaking of pure
  167. 6:50democracy in which the people by
  168. 6:52majority vote act as their own laws
  169. 6:54instead of electing representatives to
  170. 6:56make laws James Madison said such
  171. 7:00democracies have ever been incompatible
  172. 7:03with personal security of the rights of
  173. 7:05property a republic promises the cure
  174. 7:08for which we are seeking Madison known
  175. 7:11as the father of the Constitution knew
  176. 7:13and said that enlightened men will not
  177. 7:15always be at the helm of government to
  178. 7:17serve as proper guardians of the public
  179. 7:19weal he knew that unlimited political
  180. 7:22power cannot safely be entrusted to the
  181. 7:25nation's elected representatives to use
  182. 7:27as a majority of them see fit because he
  183. 7:29said a majority of a group of men is far
  184. 7:33more likely to be tyrannical than one
  185. 7:35man is in a democracy if a majority
  186. 7:39should develop hatred for all blue-eyed
  187. 7:42babies and order them eliminated the
  188. 7:44babies could be legally
  189. 7:46executed because whatever a majority
  190. 7:48wants at any given moment his supreme
  191. 7:51law of the land in a democracy how can
  192. 7:55liberty be safeguarded against the
  193. 7:56mindless soulless tyranny of majority
  194. 7:58rule when government is founded on the
  195. 8:01principle of majority rule
  196. 8:03Jefferson answered that one in questions
  197. 8:06of power let no more be heard of
  198. 8:08confidence in man but bind him down from
  199. 8:11mischief the chains of the Constitution
  200. 8:12in short America was founded not as a
  201. 8:16democracy but as a constitutional
  202. 8:18republic we pledge allegiance to the
  203. 8:21Republic for which our flag stands not
  204. 8:23to a democracy the Constitution requires
  205. 8:25a Republican form of government for all
  206. 8:27states but does not mention democracy
  207. 8:29and neither does the Declaration of
  208. 8:31Independence or the Bill of Rights the
  209. 8:32Constitution is a binding contract
  210. 8:35enumerated limited powers which the
  211. 8:38federal government can legally exercise
  212. 8:40prohibiting it from exercising any power
  213. 8:43not read it in the contract it denies
  214. 8:46federal officials the power to do
  215. 8:47whatever they claim to be necessary for
  216. 8:49the general welfare federal action not
  217. 8:52clearly authorized by the Constitution
  218. 8:54is illegal even if approved by an
  219. 8:57overwhelming majority of the people
  220. 8:59because all the elastic powers of
  221. 9:01government are left with the state's
  222. 9:04ultimate power to change the organic
  223. 9:06structure of government laws left with
  224. 9:08the people but the means of making
  225. 9:11changes amending the Constitution were
  226. 9:13carefully prescribed to militate against
  227. 9:15hasty unwise decisions by the people as
  228. 9:19Benjamin Franklin left the Statehouse in
  229. 9:21Philadelphia on the closing day of the
  230. 9:23Constitutional Convention a woman asking
  231. 9:26what kind of government the convention
  232. 9:28had given America and Franklin replied a
  233. 9:31republic if you can keep it very old and
  234. 9:35very wise Franklin saw through the mists
  235. 9:37of time to the day when Americans might
  236. 9:40trade their freedom in a constitutional
  237. 9:42republic for the promise of government
  238. 9:44guaranteed equality and security in a
  239. 9:46democracy and beyond that to the day
  240. 9:50when democracy in evitable degenerates
  241. 9:52in the dictatorship guaranteeing nothing
  242. 9:55but poverty and serfdom for the people
  243. 9:58that robs and
  244. 9:59the American constitutional system
  245. 10:02unique in history enabled Americans to
  246. 10:05develop a backward continent into the
  247. 10:08most magnificent nation at all time the
  248. 10:11system was designed to prevent both
  249. 10:12tyranny by government and reckless
  250. 10:15rebellion by the people we must restore
  251. 10:18it and keep it and what can you do
  252. 10:21toward that end your job you who care
  253. 10:25and understand is to help educate others
  254. 10:28I suggest that you might find a
  255. 10:30subscription to my report helpful the

  265. 10:52activate others and only by this means
