A NEW UFC STAR IS BORN!” — PARNASSE DESTROYS DAN HOOKER! BISPING & POIRIER STUNNED! 🔥 — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00ass a newcomer 23 and two his [music]
- 0:03record Dan Hoger we all know how
- 0:05talented he is but um who's going to
- 0:08unleash the beast this weekend fellas
- 0:11>> you guys need to hear some
- 0:12>> depend depending on what Dan shows up
- 0:14this could be a tough debut man [music]
- 0:16cuz when Dan's on he's on but he's been
- 0:18hit or miss
- 0:20>> Parnas he's a he's a really good striker
- 0:21I think he's a southpaw throws throws
- 0:24really hard looks like he has good
- 0:25cardio pretty pretty [music] like
- 0:27fundamentally sound it's not like he's
- 0:28fighting with his hands down hands are
- 0:30up. Good good fundamentals on the
- 0:32[music] feet and hits hard. I don't
- 0:34know. And Hooker,
- 0:36you know, he fights long. He he [music]
- 0:38but he does get in the pocket a lot. I
- 0:40don't know. What do you think if you had
- 0:41a if you're picking Hooker, a guy with
- 0:44his style versus a guy who just hits
- 0:46really hard, [music] fundamentally
- 0:47sound, athletic.
- 0:49>> I mean, Dan does have good great knees.
- 0:51Obviously, showed it time and time
- 0:52again. If he stays [music] long, be
- 0:54smart. But um Masto was telling me
- 0:56before the show, he was like, "This
- 0:58French guy can do it all. He's not he's
- 1:00not just a kickboxer." In my head, I was
- 1:02thinking he's a kickboxer. I've only
- 1:03seen a little bit of him uh coming into
- 1:05his UFC debut. So, I thought it was
- 1:07going to be a kickboxer versus
- 1:08kickboxer, but apparently the guy can do
- 1:10it all. So,
- 1:10>> Oh, you're thinking he's going to
- 1:11wrestle?
- 1:12>> He No, he can wrestle,
- 1:13>> but you're thinking [music]
- 1:15>> the next fight top five. My dream fight
- 1:18is Max,
- 1:19>> right? What a call out for your second
- 1:21for your second fight in the UFC. just
- 1:23mental, but that's what this guy's
- 1:25capable of. It's funny because, you
- 1:28know, when you look at the UFC and
- 1:29there's a lot of haters out there, we
- 1:30know this. And they're all like, "Oh
- 1:32yeah, what they gonna do? All the stars
- 1:33are retiring soon. Justin Gage is the
- 1:35champ, but he's only got one or two
- 1:36fights left and this and [music] that."
- 1:38They used to say the same thing when
- 1:39Anderson Silva was retiring, when Tito
- 1:41Ortiz went, when Chuck Liddell went,
- 1:42when George St. Pierre went. Not when I
- 1:45went. No one give a [ __ ] about that, but
- 1:46you know what I'm saying. Um, there's
- 1:48always new guys coming through and this
- 1:50guy Saladine Pinas is [music] one of
- 1:52them. Let me tell you, he's championship
- 1:54material. He's got it written all over
- 1:56him. He's got submissions. He's got
- 1:57anti- wrestling. He's got ridiculously
- 1:59fast striking. And Dan Hooker found out
- 2:02the hard way. [music] Right.
- 2:04>> All right. So, if you look here, this is
- 2:05these are the stats for uh this fight.
- 2:08There's nothing particularly
- 2:09interesting. The there was the knockdown
- 2:11by Parnas. Um 70% of his strikes were
- 2:14significant, which is interesting, I
- 2:15suppose, to an extent, but not not
- 2:17really. The only thing you really got to
- 2:18pay attention to is top line is Hooker,
- 2:20secondary [music] line is Parnas is
- 2:22this. This is the targeting. 12 of 19
- 2:25right here where I'm using the cursor.
- 2:27You could see this was a big thing
- 2:28Hooker [music] was doing for a couple of
- 2:29reasons. And in fact, look at the
- 2:30targeting for Hooker. 0% to the head.
- 2:33He's in the red there on the left side.
- 2:350% to the [music] head. 12 of 19 on
- 2:38this. What is the significance of this?
- 2:40The basic idea was that you could see
- 2:42him trying to disrupt the [music]
- 2:43rhythm. And not just that, Parnas
- 2:46doesn't throw a ton of volume. So what
- 2:48Hooker was trying to do was through the
- 2:50hand play, through throwing these leg
- 2:52kicks inside and out was just to get him
- 2:54to settle into [music] Hooker's
- 2:56offensive rhythm. But another thing that
- 2:59Parnas's leg kicks did was shut that
- 3:02down. He couldn't really ever get that
- 3:03going [music] while Parnas is able to
- 3:05stand his ground and then encroach all
- 3:08from those leg kicks. So the guy was in
- 3:10Parnas solid on the defensive end, solid
- 3:13on the offensive end, was given a fight
- 3:15ending scenario, completed the job. And
- 3:17I want you, I'm going to say it one more
- 3:18time. Go back and watch the replay. Go
- 3:21back and watch the replay and watch
- 3:23Parnas's face. You can see him make a
- 3:25moment [music] of recognition. Aha, hurt
- 3:27opponent. But but you can see that the
- 3:30coolness doesn't change. This is a super
- 3:34super skilled and ex highly experienced
- 3:38opponent. [music] Not at the UFC level
- 3:40per se, but at a you can clearly tell at
- 3:44a very commendable [music] level. The
- 3:46guy is the goods. Um, and let me just
- 3:49say this, you know, it's just nice to
- 3:50see
- 3:53I don't know, like they we'll talk about
- 3:55it on on on MK later, but they announced
- 3:58that UFC 332 card and there's a lot to
- 4:01say about that. And I think part of what
- 4:03there is to say is that it wasn't
- 4:04exactly making fans super happy,
- 4:08but like here, this should like this is
- 4:10great. This is he's [music] like I don't
- 4:13know if Parnas will be champion. There's
- 4:15so much that's unknown about this youth
- 4:17movement and who will ultimately turn
- 4:19out to be something great, [music] but
- 4:22he's clearly very good and he's clearly
- 4:25very exciting and he's got a dynamic
- 4:28fight style on [music] top of it. He's
- 4:30not just a guy who wins and you know his
- 4:32fights aren't memorable. Look at what
- 4:34that was, dude. I mean, look at what
- 4:35that was. [music]
- 4:37I also have to say I thought the UFC did
- 4:39the matchmaking here really well. you
- 4:42know, like they didn't they could have
- 4:43put him up against a wrestler and I
- 4:44[music] maybe he would have won, but to
- 4:47kind of get him going,
- 4:49you got to give him not a soft landing.
- 4:51I don't think Hooker's a soft [music]
- 4:52landing, but Hooker will accommodate
- 4:54Parnos in certain ways. And I think
- 4:55that's really the important part to get
- 4:57here. But anyway, the point I'm trying
- 4:58to just make about all of this is, isn't
- 5:00it just nice for something great to
- 5:02happen in MMA, right? A guy [music]
- 5:04breaks through, like a guy full of hype.
- 5:06He didn't just fizzle. It wasn't some
- 5:08fraud check. It wasn't some, "Oh my god,
- 5:10can you believe it?" Oh, another woe is
- 5:12me. There's a lot of woe is me headlines
- 5:14with with plenty of good reason in MMA.
- 5:16I I I'm not going to sit here and
- 5:17suggest that fans aren't right for
- 5:19[music] thinking it. But what I am
- 5:20saying is look at this. And if this
- 5:24isn't a cause for, you know, [music]
- 5:25maybe not the most amount of
- 5:26celebration, but if this isn't a cause
- 5:28as an MMA fan to put a smile on your
- 5:30face, then I mean, I don't know what is.
- 5:32This is this is great. Whether he'll be
- 5:33champion, your guess is truly as good as
- 5:36mine. [music] Very, very hard for me to
- 5:38see this as anything other than a huge
- 5:39win for fans. Get that guy active. Get
- 5:42him out there competing. Get him out
- 5:43there doing the damn [music] thing. And
- 5:45you know, let me sort of look this up.
- 5:47Who do I think would be a suitable? He
- 5:48called out Max Holloway. Pornos [music]
- 5:51did. He wants Max Holloway. I got to
- 5:53tell you, I don't hate that fight. I'm
- 5:54looking at the rankings now. So, Ilia is
- 5:57now talking to the media again or doing
- 6:00I should say putting out media assets.
- 6:03So, he'll fight maybe before the end of
- 6:05the year. It's hard to say exactly. We
- 6:08don't really know. Armen obviously has a
- 6:09fight coming up. Charles is
- 6:10incapacitated for a little while.
- 6:12[music]
- 6:13I think Max only really wants to fight
- 6:15in that range of the division. Patty is
- 6:17sitting there at five. Uh and then Cor
- 6:19and Saul killed at six and Hanat Makano
- 6:22at seven. [music] You know, if Hooker
- 6:24was sitting at 12, I think this might
- 6:26put him close to the top 10. So, if I'm
- 6:28thinking about what would be next for
- 6:31Parnas, [music]
- 6:33you could do an all French thing. Benois
- 6:35Saint, you could do I know Gameamrot
- 6:37sitting at nine. You could do
- 6:38Gameamarrot. Huffy [music] obviously has
- 6:40a fight coming up against Armen, so you
- 6:42can't do that. Tom Nolan, you could do
- 6:45Moano's [music] a good one. You could do
- 6:47Moano versus Parnass would be pretty
- 6:48good. That would bump him up pretty
- 6:50high. You could even do Saulkill, but I
- 6:52[music] wouldn't want to put another I
- 6:53didn't even mention Jesus. How did I
- 6:54skip him talking about the youth
- 6:56movement in this division? I apologize
- 6:57to Quill and Saulkilled [music] in all
- 6:59of Australia for that. Yes, you'd have
- 7:01to throw I mean, I apologize completely
- 7:02for that. Yes, you'd have to throw him
- 7:03in there as well. Doesn't change the
- 7:05point. It only makes it [music]
- 7:06stronger. But I apologize for the
- 7:08omission earlier. So I wouldn't want to
- 7:10do that. But that Moano BSD
- 7:13Tom Nolan again another guy with the
- 7:15youth movement still kind of sitting at
- 7:1611.
- 7:18That would be really interesting.
- 7:20[music] Uh but I would like to go
- 7:21somebody that's a more a name. I I like
- 7:23the Moano idea. If he's available and
- 7:26that's the thing that the UFC would do,
- 7:27[music] I I think that's the right call
- 7:28for the future. But there's some other
- 7:29ones. So apologies to Tom Nolan. Big
- 7:32time. Apologies to Co and Saltfield for
- 7:33not getting that right. Sadian Parnass
- 7:35as advertised [music]
- 7:36as advertised did exactly what he was
- 7:39supposed to do. And that's not
- 7:40everything. Not no one fight can be
- 7:43[music] everything. But for what the
- 7:46mission was, for what the challenge was,
- 7:49for what the expectations were, that is
- 7:52mission accomplished, you know, one
- 7:54small step for man kind of thing. That's
- 7:56how it's done. Phenomenal, phenomenal,
- 7:59phenomenal [music] entrance into this
- 8:01division. I look forward to seeing
- 8:03Saladine Parnass again.
- 8:05>> Saladine Parnass destroys Dan Hooker.
- 8:08The UFC has a new problem. Saladine
- 8:10Parnass did not simply win his UFC
- 8:13debut. He did not survive Dan Hooker. He
- 8:16did not edge him on the scorecards. He
- 8:18did not spend five rounds proving that
- 8:20he belonged. He destroyed him. In front
- 8:22of a roaring Paris crowd, Parnass walked
- 8:25into the octagon for the first time in
- 8:26his UFC career and dismantled one of the
- 8:29most experienced lightweight fighters in
- 8:31the organization. And he did it in just
- 8:332 minutes and 35 seconds. A devastating
- 8:36body kick hurt Hooker. A second sequence
- 8:39kept him trapped. Then Parnass followed
- 8:41with punches until the referee had no
- 8:43choice but to stop the fight. Just like
- 8:46that, the former two division KSW
- 8:48champion announced himself to the UFC
- 8:50world. But here's the question nobody
- 8:52can ignore anymore. Was this simply a
- 8:54spectacular UFC debut? Or did the UFC
- 8:58just unleash a legitimate future title
- 9:00contender? Today, we're breaking down
- 9:02everything. The preparation, the
- 9:04mentality, the tactics, the moment
- 9:07Parnass broke Dan Hooker, the reasons
- 9:09Parnass won, the reasons Hooker
- 9:11collapsed, what this victory says about
- 9:14Parnass's level, and most importantly,
- 9:16what could happen next for the French
- 9:18superstar inside the UFC. But before we
- 9:21begin, make sure you subscribe to the
- 9:23channel, turn on notifications, and stay
- 9:26with us until the end because the final
- 9:28question surrounding Parnass's UFC
- 9:30future may be the most important one of
- 9:32all.
- 9:33>> The road to UFC Paris.
- 9:36>> Before Saladine Parnass stepped into the
- 9:38octagon, there was already enormous
- 9:40pressure surrounding his UFC debut. This
- 9:42was not a normal debut. The UFC did not
- 9:45give him an easy opponent. They did not
- 9:47place him on an early preliminary fight.
- 9:49They did not ask him to slowly build his
- 9:51name. Instead, Parnass was immediately
- 9:54placed in the main event of UFC Paris
- 9:56against Dan Hooker, and that decision
- 9:58said a lot about how highly the UFC
- 10:00viewed him. Parnass arrived with an
- 10:02impressive resume. He was a former two
- 10:05division champion in KSW, having
- 10:07competed successfully at featherweight
- 10:09and lightweight. He also entered the UFC
- 10:11after a strong run of finishes and
- 10:13victories that had built his reputation
- 10:15as one of Europe's most dangerous
- 10:17fighters. His record before the UFC
- 10:19debut stood at 23-2. But records don't
- 10:22win UFC fights. Reputation doesn't win
- 10:25UFC fights. And hype certainly doesn't
- 10:28win UFC fights. On September 5th,
- 10:30Parnass had to prove everything against
- 10:32a veteran who had spent years fighting
- 10:34elite opposition. Dan Hooker had the
- 10:37experience. He had fought some of the
- 10:38best lightweights in the world. He knew
- 10:40what it was like to headline UFC events.
- 10:43He knew how to deal with pressure. And
- 10:45most importantly, he knew how to make a
- 10:47fight uncomfortable. So Parnass had to
- 10:49prepare for a completely different level
- 10:51of competition. One of the most
- 10:53important elements of Parnass's
- 10:54preparation was understanding that he
- 10:57couldn't allow Hooker's experience to
- 10:58control the fight. Hooker is dangerous
- 11:00when an opponent allows him to establish
- 11:02rhythm. He likes to work behind long
- 11:04attacks, kicks, combinations, and
- 11:07pressure. He can make opponents fight at
- 11:09his pace. So Parnass needed to do the
- 11:11opposite. He needed to remain
- 11:13unpredictable. He needed to use his
- 11:15footwork. He needed to attack Hooker's
- 11:17legs and body. And most importantly, he
- 11:19needed to make Hooker think. That is
- 11:21exactly what we saw when the fight
- 11:23began. Parnass didn't rush forward
- 11:25recklessly. He remained composed. He
- 11:28watched Hooker's movement. He checked
- 11:30kicks. He used fence. He moved in and
- 11:32out of range. And while Hooker appeared
- 11:34to be the busier fighter early on,
- 11:36Parnass was collecting information. This
- 11:39is something that often gets overlooked
- 11:40when people watch a fight that ends
- 11:42quickly. A fighter can dominate a
- 11:44three-minute fight because of raw
- 11:46aggression. But Parnass's performance
- 11:48was different. There was calculation
- 11:50behind it. He wasn't simply throwing
- 11:52everything he had. He was setting traps.
- 11:55And eventually, Hooker stepped into one.
- 12:00>> The fight started with Dan Hooker taking
- 12:02the center of the octagon and throwing
- 12:03kicks. That was a logical strategy.
- 12:06Hooker has the height and reach
- 12:07advantage, and using kicks can help keep
- 12:09a faster opponent at distance. But
- 12:12Parnass remained calm. He moved. He
- 12:15checked. He studied. And then came the
- 12:17moment that changed the entire fight.
- 12:19Parnass fired a devastating left kick to
- 12:21the body. The kick landed directly
- 12:23around Hooker's liver area. And
- 12:25immediately, you could see the effect.
- 12:27Hooker reacted. His body betrayed him.
- 12:30That is the danger of a perfectly placed
- 12:32body shot. You don't always need a
- 12:34knockout punch to end a fight. Sometimes
- 12:37one precise strike to the right location
- 12:39can completely shut down an opponent.
- 12:41And Parnass recognized the damage
- 12:43instantly. He didn't give Hooker time to
- 12:45recover. He stayed on him. A high kick
- 12:48followed. Then the punches came. Hooker
- 12:50was hurt, forced backward, and
- 12:52eventually dropped. Parnass followed him
- 12:54to the ground and continued attacking
- 12:56until the referee stepped in. 2 minutes
- 12:58and 35 seconds. Fight over. UFC debut
- 13:01over. Dan Hooker's night over and a new
- 13:04chapter in Parnass's career had
- 13:06officially begun.
- 13:09Zidan, [music] right? Dan been around
- 13:12for a while. 36 years old. You all know
- 13:14the backstory. Lost to Arman Suki and
- 13:16lost to Ben. He claims that he didn't
- 13:18train for that fight. Locked in for this
- 13:20one. Been doing the hill splits and all
- 13:21the rest of it. Saladine paras 28 years
- 13:24old. Still very much in his prime. Two
- 13:26weight division champion at KSW. Tried
- 13:28to become a three-weight division
- 13:29champion by going up to welterweight but
- 13:30lost that fight. Weight classes, they
- 13:33are there for a reason. And that's why
- 13:34Alex Pereira, I'm sorry to say, probably
- 13:36won't be a heavyweight champion. But
- 13:38still, I digress. The fight started, Dan
- 13:41Hooker fighting like Dan Hooker. They
- 13:42were both exchanging kicks, but Saladine
- 13:44blocked every [music] single shot. He
- 13:46blocked every single kick. He was taking
- 13:48his time. He was biting his time,
- 13:49catching his rhythm, and he was waiting.
- 13:51[music] And then he exploded. 2 minutes
- 13:5335 into it. Kicked him in the liver. Dan
- 13:56Hooker was like, "Oh, oh, he almost went
- 13:57down. Then he kicked him in the head.
- 13:58Then he dropped him with the left hook.
- 14:00Couple more shots on the ground and that
- 14:02was that." and the star was bored. Okay,
- 14:04because Saladine Parnass, his whole team
- 14:07have been very meticulous about his
- 14:08evolution through mixed martial arts.
- 14:10They had multiple offers apparently from
- 14:12the UFC to come sooner, but they wanted
- 14:14him to get better, to learn, not learn
- 14:16on the job in the UFC. They wanted him
- 14:18to come to the UFC and be able to take
- 14:21over. [music] Well, let me tell you
- 14:22what, we got a new contender on our
- 14:23hands. He will be ranked number 10 on
- 14:26Monday morning or should be something
- 14:28like that. He called out, who did he
- 14:30call out? He called out Max Hollow. pass
- 14:31a newcomer
- 14:3323 and two [music] his record Dan Hoger.
- 14:35We all know how talented he is. But um
- 14:39who's going to unleash the beast this
- 14:40weekend, fellas?
- 14:42>> You guys need to hear some
- 14:43>> depending on what Dan shows up. This
- 14:45could be a tough debut, [music] man. Cuz
- 14:48when Dan's on, he's on. But he's been
- 14:50hit or miss.
- 14:51>> Parnas, he's a he's a really good
- 14:52striker. I [music] think he's a
- 14:53southpaw. Throws throws really hard.
- 14:56Looks like he has good cardio. Pretty
- 14:58pretty [music] like fundamentally sound.
- 14:59It's not like he's fighting with his
- 15:00hands down. hands are up. Good good
- 15:03fundamentals on the feet and hits hard.
- 15:05I don't know. And Hooker,
- 15:08you know, he fights long. He he [music]
- 15:10but he does get in the pocket a lot. I
- 15:11don't know. What do you think if you had
- 15:12a if you're picking Hooker, a guy with
- 15:15his style versus a guy who just hits
- 15:17really [music] hard, fundamentally
- 15:18sound,
- 15:20>> athletic.
- 15:21>> I mean, Dan does have good great knees.
- 15:23Obviously, showed it time and time
- 15:24again. If he stays long, be smart. But
- 15:27um Masad was telling me before the show,
- 15:29he was like, "This French guy can do it
- 15:31all. He's not he's not just a
- 15:32kickboxer." In my head, I was thinking
- 15:33he's a kickboxer. I've only seen a
- 15:35little bit of him uh coming into his UFC
- 15:37debut. So, I thought it was going to be
- 15:39a kickboxer versus kickboxer, but
- 15:40apparently the guy can do it all. So,
- 15:42>> Oh, you're thinking he's going to
- 15:42wrestle?
- 15:43>> He No, he can wrestle.
- 15:44>> But you thinking is he?
- 15:46>> The official result. Saladine Parnass
- 15:48defeated Dan Hooker by TKO via body kick
- 15:51and punches in round one. How did
- 15:53Parnass break Dan Hooker? The most
- 15:56interesting part of this victory isn't
- 15:58simply that Parnass won, it's how he
- 16:00won. There were several reasons. One,
- 16:02Parnass's speed. The first major
- 16:05difference was speed. Parnass looked
- 16:07faster, his movements were sharper, his
- 16:09entries were more explosive, and his
- 16:12ability to move from defense to offense
- 16:14was extremely impressive. Hooker could
- 16:16throw a kick, but Parnass was already
- 16:18thinking about the counter. That speed
- 16:20created hesitation and hesitation is
- 16:23dangerous against a fighter as precise
- 16:25as Parnass. Two, the body attack. The
- 16:28second major factor was the body.
- 16:30Parnass didn't become obsessed with
- 16:32hunting for the head. Instead, he
- 16:34attacked the body. That was brilliant. A
- 16:36fighter's hands can protect his face.
- 16:38His elbows can protect his ribs. But the
- 16:41liver is extremely difficult to protect
- 16:43perfectly when you're moving, kicking,
- 16:46and defending. Parnass found it. And
- 16:48once he found it, the fight changed
- 16:50instantly. Three, footwork. Parnass also
- 16:54used movement extremely well. He wasn't
- 16:56standing directly in front of Hooker
- 16:58waiting to trade. He was constantly
- 17:00changing the distance that forced Hooker
- 17:02to reset repeatedly. And every reset
- 17:05gave Parnass another opportunity to
- 17:07attack. Four, composure. Perhaps the
- 17:10most impressive factor was Parnass's
- 17:12composure. This was his UFC debut. It
- 17:15was the biggest stage of his career. It
- 17:17was a main event. It was in Paris. The
- 17:19crowd was behind him. And yet, he never
- 17:21looked overwhelmed. Instead, he looked
- 17:24like someone who had already been there
- 17:25many times. That mental stability may
- 17:28become one of his greatest weapons in
- 17:29the UFC. Why did Dan Hooker lose? It
- 17:32would be unfair to say that Hooker
- 17:34simply forgot how to fight. The reality
- 17:36is much more complicated. Hooker was
- 17:38facing an extremely talented opponent,
- 17:41but there were several problems. First,
- 17:43he couldn't establish his preferred
- 17:45rhythm. Second, Parnass's speed made it
- 17:48difficult for Hooker to control
- 17:49distance. Third, the body kick changed
- 17:52everything. And perhaps most
- 17:54importantly, once Hooker was hurt,
- 17:56Parnass gave him no opportunity to
- 17:58recover. Hooker has built his career on
- 18:00toughness. But toughness has limits. You
- 18:03cannot simply absorb a perfectly placed
- 18:05liver kick and expect everything to
- 18:07continue normally. The damage was
- 18:09immediate, and Parnass understood that.
- 18:12Instead of giving Hooker space, he
- 18:14accelerated. That was the difference.
- 18:16The fight wasn't simply won by the first
- 18:18kick. It was won because Parnass
- 18:21recognized the opening and finished the
- 18:23sequence perfectly. Parnass is now 24-2.
- 18:27Think about what this means. Before the
- 18:29fight, there were questions. Could he
- 18:31really compete with UFC level
- 18:32opposition? Could his KSW success
- 18:35translate? Could he handle a veteran
- 18:37like Hooker? Could he perform under the
- 18:39pressure of a UFC main event?
- 18:41>> Not a [music] bad bet.
- 18:43I I like to bet on Hooker on that one
- 18:45just because of like [music] just his
- 18:46his danger factor, his experience.
- 18:49>> His experience, his danger factor. Like
- 18:51this is a big spot for
- 18:51>> How much is that? There's a reason why
- 18:53they have matchmakers got him like
- 18:55>> he's been around and he's fought, you
- 18:56know,
- 18:56>> and he don't care like this. This is a
- 18:58fight where he's just like, I don't
- 18:59care. I'm just going to go out there and
- 19:00fight this guy. And that makes him real
- 19:02dangerous in this situ.
- 19:05>> But also sometimes he said he doesn't
- 19:07train for [music] fights and he does
- 19:08better and this and that. So that
- 19:10worries me.
- 19:11We all know that the formula is you have
- 19:12to [music] train. You have to have a
- 19:13base. I feel like some he said he used
- 19:15to train so hard, now he trains less and
- 19:17he's gotten [music] better results. So,
- 19:20>> that only lasts so long, I think.
- 19:21>> Yeah.
- 19:22>> But he's coming off of two losses,
- 19:23though, isn't he? So,
- 19:25>> yeah. It's not good.
- 19:26>> And and he's got that he's got all that
- 19:29drama that went public that [music] he's
- 19:31had to deal with, which probably made
- 19:32things harder at home.
- 19:34>> What drama is that, Chris? Tell us.
- 19:36>> I [music] don't even know how to I think
- 19:37I
- 19:37>> I don't even know what you're talking
- 19:38about. Oh, I think he owes tax money,
- 19:40right?
- 19:40>> Yeah, I think it's worse than that.
- 19:42>> Worse than tax money.
- 19:42>> I think it's worse than tax money.
- 19:44>> Tell us, Chris, please. I'm all
- 19:45>> I'm waiting for the Chris's team.
- 19:46[laughter]
- 19:47>> No, they're waiting for There was some
- 19:49DMs and things going back and forth with
- 19:51that one.
- 19:52>> Like, what you didn't Shut up. You're
- 19:54>> No, I know what you mean. [laughter] I
- 19:55got Tell me
- 19:58more. He doesn't know.
- 19:59>> It's 2026, man. You [music] can do
- 20:00whatever you want.
- 20:01>> 100%.
- 20:02>> I'm not mad if he's messaging dudes or
- 20:04something.
- 20:06>> All right. So, also own a car.
- 20:07Everybody, I don't get it cuz I message
- 20:10I messaged Dean just the other day.
- 20:11>> I did win the fight.
- 20:12>> Yeah, for sure.
- 20:14>> Dudes message dudes all the time. I
- 20:16don't get it, [music] Dustin. I don't
- 20:17know either.
- 20:17>> I don't know. It's crazy crazy life
- 20:19going on right now.
- 20:20>> So, Fazam taking on Axel Sola. That's
- 20:22going to be a good fight. I don't know
- 20:23if you guys familiar with Axel Sola, but
- 20:25he's real tough, real skilled.
- 20:28>> Michael Venom Paige taking on Nurelan.
- 20:31>> Oh, that's 185.
- 20:33>> So, that girl Oh, you guys, he he's at
- 20:35>> Yep. [music] That dude's 6'5. He's a
- 20:37monster. How did he make freaking
- 20:38welterweight?
- 20:39>> He could wrestle.
- 20:41>> I've seen him.
- 20:41>> But he's he's more of a striker though,
- 20:43right?
- 20:43>> More of a striker, but he has like
- 20:45Kazakhstan. So, [music] he like grew up
- 20:47just doing combat.
- 20:49>> Beckistan. Sorry. Even worse cuz they
- 20:51only do combat over there, you know? So,
- 20:53the guy could just wrestle good, man.
- 20:56And his striking ain't bad [music]
- 20:57already from what I've seen.
- 20:58>> I think straight wrestling.
- 21:00>> But the movement from MVP, man, is going
- 21:02[music] to be a problem.
- 21:03I think he's going to
- 21:04>> MVP is a problem for anybody.
- 21:06>> Yeah, that style is like
- 21:07>> he's a pain in the ass, man.
- 21:08>> For me personally, that that's like
- 21:10[music] the nightmare matchup. Somebody
- 21:12who moves like that moves like that and
- 21:14then wrestle like GSP or something.
- 21:16>> That is that is
- 21:18>> that's honestly I if you could keep up
- 21:19that [music] cardio of like that wonder
- 21:21boy MVP style, you keep up that cardio
- 21:24and you can wrestle, I think you're
- 21:26[music] unbeatable because you can't get
- 21:28hit. You hit, you're moving, and then
- 21:30you're able [music] to take down, take
- 21:32people down, too.
- 21:32>> In a way, that's how like Mighty Mouse,
- 21:35too, man. You know, [music] crazy
- 21:36distance with controlling and take you
- 21:38down, beat you up on the feet.
- 21:39>> And they do so good against like Muay
- 21:41Thai type style.
- 21:42>> Yeah.
- 21:42>> Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:43>> Cuz they just they're
- 21:46so used to seeing it [music] and you're
- 21:47not used to seeing their style, which is
- 21:50the the other thing that's a a
- 21:52nightmare. But when it's full [music]
- 21:53stand up though, it's like the karate
- 21:55style versus the tie. Usually the ties
- 21:57dominate, you know,
- 21:58>> those legs, those leg kicks. But I don't
- 22:00know is I wonder if it's different and
- 22:02just it doesn't always translate cuz you
- 22:04get taken down bigger cage.
- 22:06>> You're [music] not in a ring.
- 22:08>> The takedowns
- 22:09>> because back in the day when they first
- 22:10started putting those fights on,
- 22:11kickboxers versus karate guys, [music]
- 22:13>> I loved it. Oh, it was amazing. The
- 22:15karate guys got dismantled. Also, karate
- 22:18guys Dus' brother had a big one. He was
- 22:22about the tie
- 22:24leg kicks.
- 22:24>> Yeah, I remember that. Got his jaw the
- 22:27tie guy got his jaw broken like in 30
- 22:29seconds a minute in.
- 22:30>> Mhm.
- 22:30>> But he kept he ended up winning the
- 22:33fight. But that was a crazy fight.
- 22:34>> Yeah. No,
- 22:35>> because those guys don't do leg kicks.
- 22:36Like one boy his he's like 64 and0 or
- 22:39something like that kickboxing. But it's
- 22:41above wast and above American kickboxing
- 22:44or [music] western stuff.
- 22:45>> Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:46>> That's a good base for MMA, but
- 22:48>> it is but it's not for everybody. just
- 22:50show one thing [music] if I can. I I I
- 22:52didn't mention it at the top here. Let
- 22:53me pull this up so I can show it to you.
- 22:55>> Now, at least some of those questions
- 22:56have been answered. Parnass improved to
- 22:59242 and he did it with another finish.
- 23:02His recent run has become increasingly
- 23:04dangerous and the hooker victory only
- 23:07strengthened the argument that Parnass
- 23:09belongs among the serious names in the
- 23:11lightweight division. But here's where
- 23:13things get interesting. Because Parnass
- 23:15didn't enter the UFC simply to
- 23:17participate. He entered believing he
- 23:19could become a champion and after the
- 23:21fight he made that mentality very clear.
- 23:24Parnass declared himself the best
- 23:26fighter in the world. He also said he
- 23:28knew he was going to finish the fight.
- 23:30That's not the language of a fighter who
- 23:32wants to spend years climbing slowly.
- 23:34That's the language of a fighter who
- 23:36believes he's already ready for the
- 23:37biggest names. Be signing with the UFC
- 23:40the right decision. This may be the most
- 23:42fascinating question surrounding
- 23:44Parnass. Before joining the UFC, Parnass
- 23:47had already built a strong reputation
- 23:49outside the promotion. He was a two
- 23:51division KSW champion. He had
- 23:53established himself as one of Europe's
- 23:55premier fighters and he had other
- 23:57options. So why UFC? Because eventually
- 24:00every elite fighter has to answer one
- 24:02question. How good are you against the
- 24:04best? The UFC is the clearest answer.
- 24:07The organization has the deepest
- 24:09lightweight division in MMA. And now
- 24:11Parnass has the opportunity to test
- 24:13himself against fighters who have spent
- 24:15years competing at the highest level.
- 24:17His decision has already paid off in one
- 24:20major way. He didn't just enter the UFC.
- 24:22He entered the UFC with a main event
- 24:25platform and immediately delivered. That
- 24:27makes the signing look extremely
- 24:29valuable for both sides. For Parnass, it
- 24:32gives him global exposure and access to
- 24:34the best competition. For the UFC, it
- 24:36gives them a French star who can
- 24:38headline events in Paris and potentially
- 24:40become one of the promotion's most
- 24:42important European fighters. And after
- 24:44what happened against Hooker, the UFC
- 24:46has every reason to be interested in
- 24:48accelerating his rise. Leo Kang Shabi.
- 24:51Now comes the difficult part. Winning
- 24:53your UFC debut is one thing. Building a
- 24:55championship career is something
- 24:57completely different. Parnass has
- 24:59already mentioned two possibilities. a
- 25:01top five opponent or his dream fight Max
- 25:04Holloway. That would be a fascinating
- 25:06matchup. Holloway is one of the most
- 25:09accomplished fighters of his generation.
- 25:11His volume, durability, striking
- 25:13intelligence, and experience are
- 25:15completely different from anything
- 25:16Parnass has faced. A fight between
- 25:19Holloway and Parnass would answer
- 25:20another important question. Can
- 25:22Parnass's speed and explosiveness
- 25:25survive against an elite fighter who can
- 25:27maintain pressure for 25 minutes? But
- 25:29perhaps the UFC shouldn't rush him.
- 25:31There is an argument for giving Parnass
- 25:33another ranked opponent first. One more
- 25:36victory against a top contender could
- 25:38make his case for a title fight
- 25:40impossible to ignore. [music] And if he
- 25:41wins again, then the UFC may have no
- 25:44choice. Mio, the bigger picture. What
- 25:47happened in Paris wasn't simply one
- 25:49fighter beating another. It was a
- 25:51changing of the guard. Dan Hooker
- 25:53represented experience. Parnass
- 25:56represented the next generation. Hooker
- 25:58had been inside the UFC octagon for
- 26:00years. Parnass had never fought there
- 26:02before. Hooker was ranked noart 10.
- 26:04Parnass was the newcomer. Yet, when the
- 26:07cage door closed, those labels suddenly
- 26:09didn't matter. Speed mattered, timing
- 26:12mattered, accuracy mattered, and Parnass
- 26:15had all three. The most impressive part
- 26:17may be that he didn't need five rounds
- 26:19to prove it. He needed 155 seconds. One
- 26:23body kick, another attack, a high kick,
- 26:26a left hook, and a referee stoppage.
- 26:28That's how quickly a fighter can change
- 26:30his position in the UFC.
- 26:34>> Saladine Parnass arrived in the UFC
- 26:36carrying enormous expectations. After
- 26:39one fight, those expectations may have
- 26:41become even bigger. He didn't simply
- 26:43defeat Dan Hooker. He sent a message to
- 26:45the entire lightweight division. He
- 26:47showed speed. He showed precision. He
- 26:50showed composure. And most importantly,
- 26:52he showed that when an opponent gives
- 26:53him an opening, he can end the fight
- 26:55immediately. But now comes the real
- 26:58test. The UFC will have to decide
- 27:00whether Parnass should be developed
- 27:02slowly or thrown directly into the deep
- 27:04end. Because after destroying a ranked
- 27:07veteran in his first UFC main event,
- 27:09there is only one question left. Duel
- 27:12can the UFC put in front of Saladine
- 27:14Parnass next. And how close is he to a
- 27:16UFC title shot?
