- 1:09these people
- 1:11could share their stories with you
- 1:14we're fortunate today and this is really
- 1:17kind of almost one of the one of

- 1:22really quite a collection of exonerees
- 1:24we have we have four absolutely
- 1:27remarkable inspiring individuals sitting
- 1:30at this table with me uh two of them
- 1:32will be speaking today two of them have
- 1:35already spoken
- 1:36and are currently speaking in the area
- 1:39in multiple
- 1:40places
- 1:42and
- 1:44included in the group and i'll introduce
- 1:46the key the real speakers or today's
- 1:48speakers in a minute but including the
- 1:50group
- 1:51is rory brown who participated was our
- 1:54latte speaker last may 1st and also was
- 1:58the speaker at on november
- 2:018th i think it was the 9th the sunday of
- 2:04our five-day program
- 2:06and and he is his story is a remarkable
- 2:09one that's documented by a story by a
- 2:11film called blanchard rover murderer uh
- 2:14in kyogre county sitting and glory 2010
- 2:18to wave so that people know who you are
- 2:20sitting
- 2:21next to roy with the yellow shirt
- 2:23is
- 2:24stephen barnes and there's probably no
- 2:27one in oneida county or central new york
- 2:30who doesn't by now know stephen barnes
- 2:33stephen barnes
- 2:34i'd like to say that we had something to
- 2:36do with this with our program the art of
- 2:38innocence his mother sylvia who's here
- 2:41also sitting back there attended
- 2:44five of our six programs
- 2:46and uh and that each program talked
- 2:48about the fact that she was looking
- 2:50forward to the day that her son who was
- 2:52wrongfully convicted would be released
- 2:54from prison and lo and behold 12 days
- 2:57after our program was over we got the
- 2:59word from the innocence project that
- 3:01stephen uh that the dna had confirmed uh
- 3:05that stephen uh was not guilty of the
- 3:07crime he'd been convicted of was
- 3:09innocent of the crime i should say and
- 3:12as a result uh two the two days before
- 3:15thanksgiving stephen after spending 20
- 3:18years in prison or nearly 20 years in
- 3:20prison won his freedom so i'd like to
- 3:22just welcome both of
- 3:31i those want to acknowledge bob mortis
- 3:33and uh liz cesari i don't see here yet
- 3:36but uh she was tied up in syracuse and
- 3:38on her way in
- 3:40uh they were the
- 3:42two committee members that
- 3:44with me had arranged this luncheon and i
- 3:48let me take this opportunity just to
- 3:49introduce one other person and that
- 3:52person sitting on bob's
- 3:54right and that's
- 3:56president dan o'leary dan is the new
- 4:00president of the munson william proctor
- 4:02arts institute just joined the institute
- 4:06this past month and we want to welcome
- 4:08him to the community and
- 4:10welcome dan

- 4:18the art of innocence that was our
- 4:20five-day program in in the fall was
- 4:23co-sponsored by the ohio county bar
- 4:25association and the munson williams
- 4:27proctor art institute and i recall one
- 4:30day
- 4:31one of the women
- 4:32got up during our question and answer
- 4:34period and said this was an absolutely
- 4:37phenomenal program this is what this
- 4:39organization ought to be doing is this
- 4:41type of program i want dan to know that
- 4:43the public that came to those programs
- 4:46really
- 4:47believed in and the idea of mixing this
- 4:50public service type programs of that
- 4:52nature
- 4:53to
