- 0:00today we're going to be talking about
- 0:02the places you should go and the things
- 0:03that you should see if you're going to
- 0:05era for one
- 0:07[Music]
- 0:19day hey guys welcome to another video
- 0:22another video back here in my little
- 0:23Studio office space and that's because
- 0:26today we're doing a video All About epra
- 0:28in a day now let's just touch on that
- 0:31first the pronunciation of ipra in this
- 0:33video I'm going to pronounce it Ira but
- 0:36there's lots of different ways that it
- 0:37gets pronounced and different ways that
- 0:39it has been historically pronounced
- 0:41you'll often hear it pronounced Eeps or
- 0:44by the locals EPA back during the Great
- 0:47War the local British tomies there in
- 0:49that area often would have called it
- 0:51wipers but for the sake of this video
- 0:54I'm going to go with probably one of the
- 0:55more sort of widely recognized
- 0:57pronunciations which is ipra kind of EP
- 1:00and then like r on the end IA the last
- 1:03piece is very sort of mildly pronounced
- 1:06so that's what I'm going to go with
- 1:07people going tell me I'm wrong that's
- 1:09totally fine so today we're going to
- 1:11talk about era in a day if you're going
- 1:14to go to Ira for one day what are the
- 1:17places that you should include into your
- 1:19itinerary we did a video like this about
- 1:22the S and it was quite popular and a lot
- 1:24of people messaged me um some in the
- 1:26comments and some outside of that
- 1:27through Facebook Instagram just to say
- 1:29like thank you and they found it useful
- 1:31so I thought it might be useful to do
- 1:33one on era as well now this is just
- 1:35going to be a few spots that I recommend
- 1:37places that I think are good to go they
- 1:39give you kind of an overview of what you
- 1:41can see when you're in that area if you
- 1:44go to the prent you could spend a lot of
- 1:46days there you could look at so many
- 1:48different sites so many fascinating
- 1:51sites and a lot of them you could go
- 1:53there briefly and have a little look or
- 1:54you could walk around them for 3 4 hours
- 1:57and so this really is a snapshot but if
- 2:00you've only got one day what can you do
- 2:01to get the most of your trip and
- 2:03hopefully that's what this video will be
- 2:05useful for so a few things to position
- 2:07similar to the Som video I'm assuming
- 2:10that if you're traveling over there you
- 2:11have access to a car that's going to be
- 2:13fairly important to really get you
- 2:15around the different sites nice and
- 2:16easily without having to worry about
- 2:19public transport I'm also assuming that
- 2:21maybe you're going to be staying in the
- 2:23center of town so we're going to start
- 2:24our trip in the center of era and I'm
- 2:27assuming that you've got the ability to
- 2:29stay around for the whole day right into
- 2:32the evening now the reason I say that is
- 2:34qu we're going to end our day's tour
- 2:37with a really important part of it which
- 2:39is going to happen at 8:00 in the
- 2:41evening lots of you will already know
- 2:43what I'm talking about but we'll save
- 2:44that for later in the video because I do
- 2:46think it's one of the most important
- 2:48things and one of the most powerful
- 2:49experiences you can have during your
- 2:51visit to era okay so let's start our day
- 2:54we're kind of assuming that we're
- 2:55probably starting around sort of 9:00 in
- 2:57the morning you're probably staying
- 2:58somewhere in the C center of town so the
- 3:00first thing we're going to do just take
- 3:02a short drive not too far probably about
- 3:047 8 minutes Drive something like that a
- 3:07little bit north to an area called
- 3:08boosinger and we're going to go to the
- 3:10Essex Farm Cemetery now this is a
- 3:14cemetery that was used from 1915 through
- 3:16and also in 1917 as well but it's a
- 3:20cemetery that has a couple of really
- 3:21interesting things about it this
- 3:24cemetery is an area that was used as an
- 3:26advanced dressing station it sat just a
- 3:28little bit behind the British lines in
- 3:311915 and it is here at the cemetery in
- 3:34May 1915 when a famous Canadian by the
- 3:38name of John McCrae wrote the poem in
- 3:40Flanders Fields really fascinating spot
- 3:44and when you go to the cemetery just to
- 3:46kind of the back left they have some of
- 3:49the bunkers that is the area that was
- 3:51used as the advanced dressing station
- 3:53now those have been um kind of recreated
- 3:55slightly they've been modernized a
- 3:57little bit with some concrete um
- 3:58compared to what they would have been at
- 4:00the time but they're still original that
- 4:01is where they were that is the right
- 4:03sight and it is around that area where
- 4:05John McCrae was working when he was
- 4:08inspired to write his poem in Flanders
- 4:10Fields if you go there you'll see
- 4:12they've got an information plaque about
- 4:13it and that's really interesting and
- 4:15it's incredible just to stand there and
- 4:17have that experience that's where he was
- 4:19that's when he had those emotions that
- 4:21led to him to write that poem now I did
- 4:24do a video about the cemeterian about
- 4:26the poem I'm going to link it up the top
- 4:27here if you want to go check that one
- 4:28out but maybe make a note of it what's
- 4:30the rest of this video then you can go
- 4:32back and check that one afterwards now
- 4:34of course it's well worth having a look
- 4:35around the cemetery in general there's a
- 4:37couple of memorials here at the cemetery
- 4:40a couple of bits of information um but
- 4:42also a couple of interesting Graves and
- 4:44one which I would definitely recommend
- 4:45you go to is the grave of Valentine Joe
- 4:49strudwick he was only 15 years old when
- 4:52he was killed in this area and he was
- 4:54one of the youngest soldiers to be
- 4:55killed on the Western Front it's a very
- 4:58well decorated grave when you go there
- 5:00lots of school trips and stuff like that
- 5:01come to it but it's one that you should
- 5:04visit if you go to ess6 farm Cemetery
- 5:06you definitely want to take the time to
- 5:08visit that grave okay so we're finishing
- 5:10up at Essex Farm probably only going to
- 5:12been there for for maybe an hour maximum
- 5:14probably a little bit less than actually
- 5:16I'd say half an hour is enough time to
- 5:17have a little walk around and see what's
- 5:19going on and from here we're going to
- 5:20take another probably less than 10
- 5:22minutes drive over to langar and we're
- 5:25going to the German Cemetery at langar
- 5:29so some of you who are familiar with the
- 5:31area reapa will know why I've included
- 5:33this cemetery and some people might be
- 5:34thinking who it's surprising to include
- 5:36a German Cemetery um during a one-day
- 5:39visit to era but I think it's a really
- 5:41important place to go langar German
- 5:44Cemetery um has the graves of more than
- 5:4744,000 German soldiers
- 5:5144,000 and just over half of those are
- 5:53buried in one communal grave um like a
- 5:57mass grave is often described as but
- 5:59there's a little bit more to it than
- 6:01that it's a fascinating cemetery and one
- 6:04that I really recommend you go to if you
- 6:06want to go to EA and learn about the
- 6:08history around there uh it's important
- 6:11to recognize the German sacrifice that
- 6:13also took place there during the war of
- 6:16course there were huge masses hundreds
- 6:19of thousands of casualties in this area
- 6:21on both sides but the Germans suffered
- 6:24tremendously here as well and by going
- 6:26to langar cemetery I think you really
- 6:28understand or start to have the feeling
- 6:31of the impact that it had on both sides
- 6:33there's some stuff to see here as well
- 6:35you can take a walk around towards the
- 6:37kind of back sort of right of the
- 6:38cemetery you'll see a series of bunkers
- 6:41that is pretty much where the German
- 6:42front line came through um during a
- 6:45period of the war here in
- 6:471917 uh but but as well as that there is
- 6:49just a lot of history here and in fact
- 6:51there's some World War II related
- 6:53history at langar as well the famous
- 6:56Austrian with a little mustache during
- 6:58World War II or in the earlier part of
- 7:00World War II he actually visited langar
- 7:03Cemetery himself and used it for some
- 7:06propaganda photos and stuff you can find
- 7:08those if you jump on Google I also made
- 7:10a video here at langar which talks a
- 7:12little bit about that again I'm going to
- 7:14link that one up the top here so that's
- 7:17our fascinating visit to the langar
- 7:19cemetery and from here we're going to
- 7:21take another little drive again probably
- 7:22about 10 minutes and we are going down
- 7:25to a commonwealth Cemetery this time
- 7:27we're going to the famous
- 7:30OT Cemetery so the OT Cemetery here at
- 7:34tcot you'll be visiting the largest
- 7:37Commonwealth grave cemetery in the world
- 7:40and it is a site that you absolutely
- 7:43must go to if you go to Ira you you go
- 7:46there and it is one of those places
- 7:47where you can really feel the weight of
- 7:50the history and what happened in that
- 7:51area and what that Cemetery represents a
- 7:55couple of logistical bits before we go
- 7:56into the cemetery itself when you kind
- 7:58of arrive there
- 8:00depending on how you've got it into your
- 8:01Google Maps you might arrive at the
- 8:03front where there's kind of sort of the
- 8:04archway gate or it might take you to the
- 8:06visitor center um at the back The
- 8:09Visitor Center at the back is the best
- 8:10spot for you to go to you can park
- 8:12easily there there's some toilets and
- 8:14stuff there as well if you need to use
- 8:15those and The Visitor Center is up there
- 8:17at the back as well now you can walk
- 8:19through into the cemetery from the back
- 8:22you kind of come through um sort of by
- 8:24the memorial to the missing and we'll
- 8:25talk about that in just a minute but if
- 8:27it's your first time going there I would
- 8:29actually recommend walking around the
- 8:31outside and come in the front gate you
- 8:34can't necessarily partk by the front
- 8:36gate I mean you can fit a couple of cars
- 8:37there but it's quite tight but it's
- 8:39worth it because this cemetery is kind
- 8:41of on a slope and when you walk through
- 8:43that front gate you really see the
- 8:46impact of what that cemetery is about it
- 8:49is absolutely huge there's more than
- 8:5111,000 burials here and more than 8,000
- 8:56of those are unidentified that in itself
- 8:58speaks volume volumes to the type of
- 9:00fighting that went on here and the awful
- 9:03loss of of men into the ground into the
- 9:05mud who who weren't identified when they
- 9:08were later buried there's also the
- 9:10memorial to the missing which is the
- 9:12wall along the back of the tcot cemetery
- 9:15it's got the names of more than 33,000
- 9:17men who are missing um again from from
- 9:21this area now there's another big
- 9:23Memorial to the missing in EA Town
- 9:25Center which we'll get to and I'll talk
- 9:28then about sort of what's the difference
- 9:29between that one and the one here at
- 9:31tcot now when you come to tcot there's
- 9:33lots of different bits here that are
- 9:34well worth looking around you can see
- 9:36some of the original bunkers which still
- 9:39sit in the cemetery those were German
- 9:41bunkers defensive bunkers that were
- 9:45attacked by the um the Commonwealth
- 9:46forces here specifically the Australians
- 9:49as they pushed through this area in
- 9:511917 when you walk around it's well
- 9:53worth getting on to sort of Google and
- 9:55stuff before you go to the cemetery and
- 9:57in fact I made a video all about
- 9:59Cemetery again I'll link it up the top
- 10:01right here because you can visit the
- 10:03graves of several recipients of the
- 10:05Victoria Cross when you're here at Ty
- 10:07cot and it's really worth doing that and
- 10:09and reading some of those stories of
- 10:11those men whilst you're by the graves
- 10:13and again the memorial to the missing
- 10:15there's some Victoria Cross winners on
- 10:17on the memorial as well and you can go
- 10:19and read about those whilst you're there
- 10:21and and it's worth just having a wand
- 10:23around and just really kind of taking in
- 10:25the amount of names that are there um on
- 10:28that wall
- 10:30at the back is the visitor center well
- 10:32worth taking a look into the visitor
- 10:33center there's some really cool
- 10:35information in there I think it changes
- 10:36sometimes but but ultimately they're
- 10:38talking um about some of the men who are
- 10:40buried or commemorated at tcot Cemetery
- 10:44so it's really worth checking it out now
- 10:47here at tcot you're kind of starting to
- 10:49work your way around that EA salent at
- 10:52this stage we're kind of into sort of
- 10:53the kind of northeastern part of that
- 10:55bulge around era and out here we're in
- 10:58the direction of passendale often
- 11:01referred to as passionale the battle of
- 11:04passionale the third battle of epra in
- 11:071917 it's through this area where that
- 11:10part of the battle was fought and so
- 11:13where we're going to go next is actually
- 11:15just slightly further Northeast from
- 11:17here at tcot towards the village of
- 11:20passendale now if we had a little bit
- 11:21more time I'd actually really recommend
- 11:23walking this because it's a fascinating
- 11:25walk but actually going to drive it's
- 11:27only about three four minutes Drive and
- 11:29as you drive
- 11:31Northeast you're going to be heading
- 11:33towards the Canadian Memorial of
- 11:35passendale if you type into your Google
- 11:37Maps or you sat have um passendale
- 11:40Canadian Memorial it's going to take you
- 11:41to the right spot uh and it's just about
- 11:43a three or 4 minute drive but when you
- 11:46drive this three or 4 minutes take your
- 11:48time drive slow and have a look out the
- 11:50window as you go because you are driving
- 11:52through the area that really would have
- 11:55represented the essence of what that
- 11:58battle of passionale was about this is
- 12:01where that mud was this is where the
- 12:03water was the flooding the absolute
- 12:05Quagmire that these men fought their way
- 12:08through and as you move up towards the
- 12:10Canadian Memorial you're into the area
- 12:12where the Canadians made their final
- 12:14push towards the village of passionale
- 12:18itself now again I've made a video about
- 12:20this one I made a video where I did walk
- 12:22this area and I recommend checking that
- 12:24one out I found it really interesting
- 12:26walking it and hopefully you'll you'll
- 12:27enjoy checking that out as well again
- 12:29I'm going to link that up the top just
- 12:31here so when you arrive at the Canadian
- 12:34Memorial you're in an area that was
- 12:36known as Crest Farm it was captured by
- 12:38the Canadian fourth division at the end
- 12:40of October
- 12:421917 now if you park up your car here
- 12:44and walk into where the memorial is and
- 12:46you look towards the village of
- 12:49passendale you can see the church spy in
- 12:52the middle of the village and what
- 12:53you're looking across here is that final
- 12:56piece of ground that the Canadians had
- 12:57to push through in in order to capture
- 13:00that final part of the village this
- 13:03short distance that you're looking
- 13:04across here took those men nearly 10
- 13:07days to fight their way across that's
- 13:09how thick the mud was and how bad the
- 13:11defenses were and how heavy the defenses
- 13:14that they were going against were 10
- 13:17days to get across just this small
- 13:19section you'll also see the Canada gate
- 13:22Memorial there this is one of two
- 13:24memorials there is one of these um in
- 13:26Canada which kind of represents the
- 13:29final steps that those Canadian soldiers
- 13:31took on Canadian ground before they
- 13:33boarded the ships to head over um to
- 13:36Europe to fight uh in the Great War and
- 13:40this gate represents the final steps
- 13:42that many of those men took as they went
- 13:44into that attack towards pendal and of
- 13:47course thousands of them never returned
- 13:50a really moving Memorial actually that
- 13:52and and won this really worthwhile I'm
- 13:54taking the time to have a wand around
- 13:56and and check it out on this visit we're
- 13:58not going to head into the village of
- 13:59passendale itself mainly because we've
- 14:01only got one day and we've got an awful
- 14:03lot more to see but if you had a bit
- 14:04more time you definitely could do so
- 14:07depending on how long you've taken to
- 14:08have a look around the site so far we're
- 14:10probably getting into like a late
- 14:11lunchtime by this point and that's okay
- 14:14cuz we're going to go somewhere for
- 14:15lunch right now we're going to take you
- 14:16guys on probably about a 10 12 minute
- 14:19drive something like that I don't know
- 14:21for sure I should have looked up these
- 14:22Drive times but I'm guessing it's about
- 14:23that long down towards uh the H crater
- 14:28Museum
- 14:29now they have a really fascinating
- 14:31Museum there and we're going to touch on
- 14:33that in just a second but they also have
- 14:35a really nice little cafe there I've
- 14:36eaten lunch there a couple of times
- 14:38myself definitely recommend it that's a
- 14:40great place to have a little stop off
- 14:42have some food have a drink use the
- 14:44toilet facilities and we're also going
- 14:46to take a look in the museum and also
- 14:48the cemetery just over the road the hook
- 14:51crater Cemetery now the museum here at H
- 14:54is not a huge Museum it's um a museum
- 14:57that actually is part of a private
- 14:58collection
- 14:59but it's probably one of the best
- 15:02museums in the era area at least I I
- 15:04believe now there's lots of other
- 15:06museums as well there's the INF Flanders
- 15:07Fields Museum in the center of town uh
- 15:10there's also the passendale museum um
- 15:12but I really like the hug Crum Museum
- 15:15and it's also one that's good to visit
- 15:18uh when we've only got one day cuz it
- 15:19takes a little bit less time to walk
- 15:22around it's not too expensive you pay a
- 15:24little fee um get your lunch first then
- 15:27pay a little fee and go have a wand
- 15:28around the mum Museum they've got such a
- 15:30great collection of stuff in there and
- 15:32I'm somebody who loves a museum where
- 15:34you're kind of looking at artifacts
- 15:36rather than just reading information and
- 15:38this Museum definitely is one of those
- 15:41they have so much stuff packed into a
- 15:43small space they also have some bits in
- 15:46there um that are actually artifacts
- 15:48related to some of the men who are
- 15:49buried in the hug crater Cemetery over
- 15:52the road so after you finish visiting
- 15:54the museum definitely step over the road
- 15:57to have a look in the cemetery the
- 15:59Cemetery here has nearly 6,000 burials
- 16:01about 3 and a half thousand of those are
- 16:03unidentified now this is an area um that
- 16:06was fought over very heavily there was
- 16:09lots of fighting here in the earlier
- 16:10part of the war and in fact this is the
- 16:13site where the Germans used
- 16:15flamethrowers for the first time against
- 16:18British troops in
- 16:201915 it's an area that had lots of
- 16:22fighting was captured by the British in
- 16:25[Music]
- 16:261917 it's an area that was recap
- 16:28captured by the Germans during their
- 16:30spring offensive in 1918 it's an area
- 16:33that changed hands a fair few times and
- 16:35lots of fighting in this area but it's a
- 16:37really fascinating cemetery and one
- 16:40which I really recommend taking the time
- 16:41to have a wand around and have a look
- 16:44quick recommendation here um Paul Reed
- 16:46at the old front line he's done a video
- 16:48where he walks a bit of this area and
- 16:50talks about the flamethrower attack and
- 16:52stuff like that really recommend
- 16:54checking that one out um I'll try and
- 16:56get that one into the link in the
- 16:57description below because he uh is
- 17:00somebody who just knows so much about
- 17:01this area and I certainly found that
- 17:03video interesting so it's well worth
- 17:05checking that one out okay we're
- 17:07probably midaf afternoon by this stage
- 17:09so we're going to take about another
- 17:1010-minute drive to go to our kind of
- 17:12last visit around the Salan for today
- 17:15apart from heading into the center of
- 17:17town we're going to head down towards
- 17:19Hill 60 now there is a little car park
- 17:22here by Hill 60 I think actually if you
- 17:24put Hill 60 car park into your Google
- 17:27Maps it takes you to the right spot this
- 17:31is a really interesting site uh where
- 17:33we're going to take a little walk around
- 17:34probably a good sort of half hour maybe
- 17:3545 minutes walk around this area uh cuz
- 17:38it really is fascinating you're going to
- 17:40take a park up there and head into have
- 17:42a look around Hill 60 now Hill 60 is a
- 17:46fascinating place just to walk around
- 17:49they've built um kind of like a
- 17:51boardwalk there and it's really cool to
- 17:53have a a walk through and along and
- 17:55they're actually marked on those boards
- 17:57um at different point points where the
- 17:59British front lines were and where the
- 18:01German front lines were and you can see
- 18:03here how incredibly close together they
- 18:06were that's something which you really
- 18:08realize on this area when you walk
- 18:09through here is how close those front
- 18:12lines were to each other now again this
- 18:16is an area that had fighting right
- 18:17through the war there was fighting here
- 18:19in the earlier part of the war in the
- 18:20middle of the war at the end of the war
- 18:22pretty much all of the E salent had
- 18:25fighting right around it but of course
- 18:26there were bigger events in different
- 18:28are at different times and one of the
- 18:31more famous events around Hill 60 was in
- 18:351917 when a huge number of Mines were
- 18:38blown in this area as part of the battle
- 18:41of meines and in this area Hill 60 the
- 18:45top part of the hill was pretty much
- 18:47Blown Away by a huge British mine that
- 18:51was placed underneath it now it wasn't
- 18:54just one mine there were a series of
- 18:55Mines through this area and one of the
- 18:58they've got here um is the caterpillar
- 19:01mine Crater where you can walk through
- 19:04and see the resulting damage of one of
- 19:07these huge mines it's full of water now
- 19:10and I'm assuming it's full of water year
- 19:11round I've never seen it not full of
- 19:13water so I think it must be the entire
- 19:15time now but you can really see the side
- 19:18of that crater and how big that mine was
- 19:20that exploded there in June
- 19:231917 there's also some germa bunker
- 19:26positions when you walk around this area
- 19:27too and it's an awful lot you can see
- 19:30it's one that's really worth taking the
- 19:32time uh to explore and have a look
- 19:35around Hill 60 and I actually haven't
- 19:37done a video at Hill 60 um my friend
- 19:40Chris over vlogging through history has
- 19:41he's done a really interesting video
- 19:43over there um so worthwhile checking
- 19:45that one out and again I will link that
- 19:47one in the description below so you can
- 19:49go and see somebody else's video about
- 19:51Hill 60 so by the time you get to finish
- 19:54your little walk around the hill 60 area
- 19:57we're probably going to be into late
- 19:59afternoon and what I'm going to suggest
- 20:00at this time is it is time to head back
- 20:02to your hotel head back to your
- 20:03accommodation um in E era uh and get
- 20:07yourself ready for the evening now if
- 20:09you're an early Diner you might want to
- 20:11go get some dinner before
- 20:128:00 otherwise you can go get some
- 20:14dinner afterwards but we are going to
- 20:16head down to the menning gate the
- 20:20menning gate Memorial to the missing for
- 20:22the last post ceremony which happens at
- 20:258:00 every single day and it is
- 20:29something that is such a moving
- 20:31experience and if you go to E you must
- 20:33must go to the last post ceremony there
- 20:36at the menning gate the mening gate
- 20:38Memorial to the missing has the names of
- 20:41nearly
- 20:4255,000 men who were lost during the
- 20:45Great War and have no known grave now
- 20:48earlier on at tcot of course we saw the
- 20:50tcot memorial to the missing so briefly
- 20:53what's the difference between the two
- 20:54well there were so many men who were
- 20:56missing that they had to draw draw the
- 20:58line they had to arrange a cutof point
- 21:00at some point for the mening gate so men
- 21:03who were killed after the 15th of August
- 21:071917 rather than being named on the
- 21:09mening gate and named on the ttin cop
- 21:12Memorial so the mening gate here
- 21:14represents men um who were killed or or
- 21:17missing up until the 15th of August
- 21:201917 casualties from Beyond that are
- 21:23named on the T cot Memorial so that's
- 21:25briefly the difference between the two
- 21:27there's a bit more to it than that but
- 21:28that gives you the rough summary so here
- 21:30at the mening gate they have the last
- 21:32post ceremony it's at 8:00 p.m. uh every
- 21:35night and they have the um the bugers
- 21:37out there and they play the last post
- 21:39and it's such a moving experience now it
- 21:41gets very busy I have been there on days
- 21:43when it's actually a fair bit quieter
- 21:45but I've been there on days when it is
- 21:47absolutely packed so I actually
- 21:49recommend getting down there by kind of
- 21:52at least sort of 7:30 maybe even
- 21:54slightly earlier than that I've been
- 21:56there before at sort of 7:00 p.m. and
- 21:58crowds have starting to to build up um
- 22:01if you're staying nearby in EA hopefully
- 22:02you can walk there if not the um square
- 22:05around the cloth Hall is a good spot to
- 22:07park and you can head down uh to the
- 22:10mening gate you're going to be there for
- 22:12probably about half an hour plus you're
- 22:14waiting time beforehand um only until
- 22:16sort of you know 20 past halfast 8
- 22:18something like that and you'll be be be
- 22:20done and and and leaving the area um
- 22:22either before if you get there a lot
- 22:24earlier or afterwards I really recommend
- 22:26having a walk around and read some of
- 22:29the names on the
- 22:30panels at the point of recording this
- 22:32video some of the memorial is still
- 22:34closed off where they've been doing some
- 22:36um some important uh restoration work
- 22:40but I believe that's coming to an end so
- 22:41hopefully very soon you'll be able to
- 22:43get back and have a real good look
- 22:45around the memorial and you better see
- 22:46all the panels and all of the names on
- 22:49those panels that's the most important
- 22:50thing the names of those men on those
- 22:53panels after you finished walking around
- 22:56and taking in that moving uh ceremony
- 22:59your your day around EA is pretty much
- 23:02finished I'm going to recommend you
- 23:03round off by heading back down to that
- 23:05square by the cloth Hall there is so
- 23:07much history in in that square thousands
- 23:10of Men passed through that area during
- 23:12the Great War and it's a great spot just
- 23:14to sit and have a meal I've been to a
- 23:16few of the restaurants around that
- 23:17square and had some nice meals there you
- 23:19can have a drink and think of what
- 23:21happened in that area think of so many
- 23:23of the men who passed through that area
- 23:25to never return the men who are in these
- 23:27cemeteries who are named on those
- 23:30memorials I hope you found that video
- 23:32interesting hopefully that's given you
- 23:33an idea of what you can do on era in a
- 23:36day now of course I did miss Lots out we
- 23:38didn't go to to places like polygon wood
- 23:41Yorkshire trench have done a video at so
- 23:44many really cool sites that you can go
- 23:46to around e that we just simply did not
- 23:48have time for today Now spoiler alert we
- 23:51might visit some of those places in my
- 23:53EA in two days video um but EA in a day
- 23:56those are the spots that I would
- 23:57recommend other people might recommend
- 23:59different ones like I said there's so
- 24:02much you can do around epra you can head
- 24:03West to places like poer ring you can uh
- 24:07do more in the the South where we spent
- 24:09a little bit of time on on this video
- 24:11but hopefully this gives you a rough
- 24:13idea if you did like it and you think
- 24:15you would find it interesting or you
- 24:16will find it useful if you're planning a
- 24:18trip do me a favor hit the like button
- 24:20do all the YouTube stuff for me it helps
- 24:22me out loads and loads on this channel
- 24:25if there is somewhere else that you
- 24:26would have recommended maybe there's
- 24:28something that you would have left out
- 24:29from my itinerary and you would have
- 24:30included somewhere different that's
- 24:32totally cool let everybody know in the
- 24:34comments below cuz it's always good to
- 24:36get multiple opinions on something like
- 24:38this guys thank you very much for
- 24:40watching I hope you enjoyed it and I
- 24:41will see you on the next video
