0:12As far as collector boxes go, not draft,
0:15not play booster boxes. I think those
0:18have gone up quite a bit as well, but I
0:20don't think we're priced out of them
0:21yet. Although 160 170 bucks for a play
0:25booster of 30 packs is pretty expensive
0:28when you consider just a few years ago
0:31they were like a h 100red bucks a box.
0:34Spider-Man collector boxes
0:38$870.
0:40This is nuts. I even saw a Reddit
0:42article. So I guess the price should
0:44have been around this, right? But then
0:46everyone saw what happened with Final
0:50Fantasy collector boxes. They like
0:53tripled in price.
0:55We're going to get to that in a moment.
0:57Let's take a dive and go over all the
1:00prices of all the collector boxes, what
1:02they were at at pre-release, and where
1:03they're at now, and like what is going
1:06on with with our game anymore. Let's
1:09begin here. Throne of Drain. So, thrown
1:13a bell drain started out way back here
1:19May 2021. Price for one of these was
1:22342. Something I noticed about this
1:24website uh Goldfish is that the price is
1:29about 15 in some cases 20% higher on
1:33Goldfish than what it actually was at
1:36release. But I like that, you know,
1:38there's like a nice little uh graph
1:39here, a nice little flowchart. Is that a
1:41flowchart? Moving along. Uh yeah, at uh
1:45pre-release they were uh they was the
1:48first of their kind, right?
1:51These dipped all the way down to around
1:53$200
1:56between
1:57October
1:59and November of this year.
2:02I think I remember cracking one of those
2:04open and even at that price, I was like,
2:06I'm not going to get my money back. We
2:07did not get our money back. Uh threat
2:10drama was really cool though. Now, most
2:12recent sale. Who the heck? What kind of
2:14in inflated BS is going on? No one's
2:16paying 800 bucks for one of these. Um,
2:19if you're buying one of these, you're
2:21buying it to keep it sealed. You are not
2:23buying this to open because I can almost
2:26guarantee you, you'll be lucky to pull
2:27$150 worth of value out of one of these.
2:29I've opened every single one of these
2:31boxes that you see on this channel.
2:33Cases and cases and cases of them. Okay,
2:36Theoros. Beyond that, this was the
2:38second collector box. It's not
2:39completely in order as you're going to
2:41see, but for the most part it is. Theos
2:44Beyond Death. This dropped way way back
2:48in uh early February. Wow. Was it
2:51February?
2:53Um January 8th was the was the release
2:57date. Right around there. So $345.
3:01What? So about 320. But I recall these
3:04being a bit cheaper than that. I don't
3:06recall them being that high. I thought
3:09they were more around like 250. They
3:12were hyped and then the price dropped a
3:15lot on Theos.
3:17Um there there it is. See the 174 179 if
3:22you look just right over here. This is
3:23where the price will be. Uh yeah, I
3:27remember. Yeah, they started out high.
3:28So pre-sale it was hype around after
3:30Throne of Eldra, right? But the set
3:33didn't really do so good in the
3:35beginning. And yeah, there was some
3:37panic at this time. $170, $190. Um, it
3:42kind of floated around that for like a
3:43year or so. And now we're looking at
3:45where the price is at.
3:48Um, yeah, it's best. That's why I have
3:51this other chart pulled up. If you want
3:54one now, 251 smackaroos. And as you can
3:57see, even um over the past year, it
4:00dipped as low as 184 and then shot back
4:03up. It's around 240. People are
4:05basically just buying these up on the
4:07market and hoarding them. That's what's
4:08going on with collector boxes. A lot of
4:09them, I don't believe are getting opened
4:11unless there's like a Chase card in
4:12them. And then whatever's left over,
4:15like from the Final Fantasy stuff, you
4:17know, um and uh gosh, there the list
4:21kind of goes on. just anything with, you
4:22know, special serialized cards, you
4:24know, something rare, something that you
4:26really want to chase that's worth a lot.
4:29Once a bunch of those cards get pulled,
4:30then um it people kind of slow down
4:33cracking them open, you know, like look
4:34like when the one ring was pulled, you
4:37know, the one of one ring, things
4:40changed, right? The price uh I think it
4:43stabilized. It didn't keep climbing. We
4:45all expected it to drop. I don't know if
4:46it dropped maybe 5 10%. But it
4:49definitely continued to climb after that
4:52one ring. It just took a little bit
4:53more. Um, here is Ioria. One of my
4:56favorite sets of all time, man. At the
4:59at release. Yeah, this is when there was
5:01some kind of correction in price. It was
5:02around $200. Remember, there's a little
5:05diff uh the differential is about 15 to
5:0820%. So, let's just say around 200 bucks
5:11is what Behemoths dropped at. You could
5:12pick a box up, you know, if you
5:14pre-ordered and whatnot. Sometimes
5:15pre-order prices are even less than
5:16that. Today we're looking at for IIcoria
5:21$400. Oh my gosh. But this is nice to
5:24see these kind of charts over the past
5:25year alone. Uh it went from 300 all the
5:28way up to $380 we're at now. So almost
5:33an $80 price gain, you know. Um that's
5:37pretty crazy. Some of these that some of
5:40the people that are selling these boxes,
5:41you got to be careful. This one's
5:42Japanese. You also got to watch the
5:44feedback on them. You got to kind of
5:45scroll down till you get to a legit one
5:48that's still Japanese. Here's the
5:50cheapest American is 44 or not American
5:52uh English version is $440.
5:56What do you guys think of all this? What
5:58are your thoughts on on the prices of
6:01these collector boxes? And I I like to
6:04hear both sides of the argument because
6:06there's one side of the argument that's
6:08like, well, they're collector boxes, so
6:10of course they're going to be more
6:11expensive. And I absolutely agree with
6:13that, you know, um they should be
6:16expensive. Like you don't need to buy a
6:18collector box to play this game. You
6:20simply do not. This is for the more
6:23diehard collector because a lot of these
6:26cards a short of blinging out your
6:29decks, your commander decks or
6:30something, you know, with some, you
6:32know, crazy, I don't know, serialized
6:33card that not many people actually do
6:34that, but there are a few out there that
6:36do that that like to flex, you know. Um
6:39and there's that's there's nothing wrong
6:40with that. that's cool. Um or just an a
6:43nice extended art foil, you know, or
6:45these fractured foils, you really want
6:46to bling out your deck, you know, and
6:48and pull something. But most people, if
6:50you're going to go that route, you're
6:51going to probably wait like six months
6:53until prices drop a whole lot. Uh and
6:56then pick up those pricey cards, you
6:58know, because they tend to become
7:00devalued over time. It's just there's
7:03another set, another set, another set.
7:04People forget about it, you know, and it
7:06goes on the back burner. A lot of
7:08fractured foils, they start out at like
7:09$250, $300, you know, a fractured foil.
7:12And now we're seeing prices drop all the
7:13way to $100 for some fractured foils.
7:16You know, it's that's kind of how it
7:17goes here. Um but then the other
7:19argument is uh you know, people say,
7:22"Oh, I I can't afford it. You know, I
7:24can't afford it." Well, you can afford a
7:26if you can afford a draft booster box or
7:29play boosters, even though those are
7:30getting more expensive now. Let's just
7:32say, you know, that's that's where we're
7:34at now is the the play booster pack,
7:36which is what averaging $67, man. Just a
7:38few years ago, you know, it was like
7:40four like three four dollars a pack, you
7:41know, uh and some packs still are that
7:43price because the set could plunked. But
7:46then on the other Yeah. The other side
7:47of the coin, you have players who simply
7:50just feel that they've been priced out,
7:53you know. But I gota I I gotta want I
7:57have to want to side. I sort of want to
7:59side with the argument that they're
8:00collectors. Cool. Magic did something
8:03really crazy, you know, and basically 2x
8:073x the price of the regular cards. And
8:10if you want them, you got to get them in
8:11these special boxes. And there's only 12
8:14packs for the maj for the most part um
8:17inside one of these boxes. And you're
8:19going to pay, you know, uh a premium to
8:22get them. It makes sense. They're
8:24collector so they should be he more
8:26heavily priced, you know. Do I think
8:28they should be ridiculous Spider-Man
8:30prices that are $900 a box uh before the
8:34set even drops? What the hell? No. Uh
8:38no, that's insane. Where are these
8:40prices even coming from? You know, I I
8:42think it's all FOMO or or um maybe
8:46there's too many whales out there
8:48anymore that are, you know, just buying
8:50up all the expensive stuff. This is
8:52real. That's what's going on, you know.
8:54Um, but it is what it is. I I kind of
8:58want to side with the with the thing
8:59that, hey, if you just want to play the
9:01game, cool. There's play boosters for
9:03you. You know, if you want to pick up
9:04and play, cool. If you want something a
9:07little more fancy and you want to flex a
9:09little bit on people and and maybe, you
9:11know, act like you're scratching off a
9:12lottery ticket, you know, then collector
9:14booster boxes are the way to go if you
9:16got that kind of bankroll. But I don't
9:18got a thousand bucks to spend on a
9:20collector box. What are you guys crazy?
9:21Anyway, we're at 2021. But yeah, what
9:23are your thoughts on all that? You know,
9:25you don't got to pick a side of the
9:26fence, but you know, hear the argument
9:27and I'd like to hear uh you know, your
9:30argument. What like what do you think?
9:32Now, we're at uh Core 2021. This was a
9:35really cool set. I was all hyped about
9:36the Ugan, man, and the the showcase
9:38foils. I think it was the first time
9:39they introduced Showcase, I believe. Uh
9:41it was just really really neat, you
9:43know, and at that time uh the the
9:45pre-release it was around 210 bucks
9:47roughly, you know, give or take. And uh
9:50yeah, that kind of held for a while. And
9:52then a new set dropped and the price
9:54went down. Cal dime came out and all the
9:56hype was around Cal Dime. You see that
9:57where those prices like drop when a new
9:59set hits, you know, it's just funny how
10:01that works. But then Cal Dime,
10:03everyone's like, "Oh man, the set
10:04sucks." Well, back to core 2021,
10:07start buying it back up again. It's just
10:10kind of how it is, you know. Here's uh
10:12where the price is at today. You could
10:14pick one up 365. Is that accurate? Yeah,
10:16I believe so. Um, usually the lower
10:18price on TCG is going to be your, um,
10:21Japanese. I could have just selected,
10:23you know, um, English, but I did not.
10:26And then you get some of these more
10:27scammy ones. I wouldn't trust someone
10:29with 0% feedback and 23 sales. I just,
10:32it's not me, you know. So, I would start
10:34right here. If I were to pick up one of
10:35these boxes, I'd go with this sale. uh
10:38this seller that would be like the my my
10:41low, you know, that would be my floor of
10:44where I would enter, you know, the
10:46ceiling.
10:49I wouldn't want to go more than, you
10:50know, the next one up, right? That kind
10:52of makes sense. So, prices of this right
10:54now, you're looking at $324. Most recent
10:57sale 369, you know, um and it looks like
11:00that's pretty accurate around 369 at
11:02core. So, that one's up there. Uh
11:03Zendicar Rising, this was another really
11:05cool one. Zendicar Rising, man. They
11:07they brought back uh some of our
11:10favorite lands from like one of the
11:12first prints of really scarce lands was
11:14these expedition lands and the O uh not
11:17OG Zendicar, but uh uh like Oath of the
11:20Gate Watch and um I can't even think of
11:22it, but Zendicar something. uh same
11:25block, you know, and uh it was like on
11:29average what, two to two and a half per
11:30box, I believe you could pull an
11:32expedition, but you're spending like,
11:34you know, 100 120 bucks on a box um with
11:38a chance to hit one of these, you know,
11:39but hindsight's 2020. Some of those PSA
11:42graded uh first run expeditions worth a
11:45lot. This was the second run and they
11:48made them abundant. So, there was a crap
11:50ton of hype around it, but they really
11:52just overdid it. And this is the first
11:55time where we see where Magic kind of
11:58realized, you know, like or like they
12:00were testing the waters, but they're
12:01like this is like the first introduction
12:03to like your your fractured foils and
12:05stuff like that, you know, like besides
12:07the extended art foils from um early
12:12uh uh Throne of Eldra, you know, then
12:15came these, you know, and like this was
12:17like the mid-tier premium. It wasn't a
12:20serial numbered card, but it was like
12:21that mediocre, maybe not even fractured
12:23foils yet, but it was getting there. It
12:25was getting to a more scarce
12:28um card that you could you could crack
12:31out of one of these collector boxes,
12:33right? That's like that's where they
12:35were headed. And the price um it started
12:37out high. I think it did, isn't it? Hold
12:39on. Yeah, I don't know how high. Hold
12:41on. Hold on. Yeah, I wanted to say it
12:43hasn't really moved a whole lot. If you
12:44look uh about 200 and uh Oh, wow. Okay,
12:48maybe it was a little cheaper than I
12:49thought. About 210, 205, you know,
12:52around release. Uh price kind of just
12:54chilled around that for a fat minute.
12:57And of course, good old uh you know,
13:00Father Time took over. And then what
13:02happened here? People just lost
13:04interest. And everyone realized, wow, we
13:06just keep getting reprints of the the
13:09scarce cards that are in there. So now
13:11the price is basically where it was
13:13before, almost a little bit above
13:15release. Uh 270 get you an unopened box.
13:19Here's just data from the last year.
13:21Seems like all collector boxes over the
13:23last year have gone up, you know, um if
13:25they have been around the block for a
13:27few years. There you have it, man. Um
13:30around $274.
13:32Uh next we move on to Commander Legends.
13:34This was a pretty cool set. This man,
13:37there we could say a whole lot about
13:38Commander Legends. Um the price for one
13:41of these boxes now, forget about it. I
13:43like how it says highest price. Who the
13:45heck paid 1,500? I don't think that's
13:47even legit. Uh but some maybe somebody
13:49did pay that much. But if you look at
13:51this chart here, uh you go to when
13:53release was. Yeah, I think they were
13:55pretty expensive. About about $400. So
13:58yeah, I kind of do remember around 370
14:00380. I think I actually picked up a
14:01personal box of this back then for
14:04around that, you know. Um everyone
14:07wanted the Jeweled Lotus. Uh we know
14:09what happened and got banned. hit
14:11the fan. People flipped out, you know.
14:14um which I still think was pretty shady
14:15of Watsi. You printed a very specific
14:18card for for Commander. It can only be
14:20played in Commander and and it's the the
14:23pinnacle of cards you can crack from
14:26this specific box which pushed all the
14:29sales of this product, right? Only for
14:32you guys just to take it away and ban
14:34it. That was pretty nuts, you know. Uh
14:36this is not the right one. This is
14:38Commander Legends Battle for Balders's
14:40Gate. Here we are. So, here's some uh
14:43recent pricing
14:45market price history. You're looking at
14:46it, baby. Um, so yeah, once that when
14:49that ban announcement hit, which was it
14:51was around this time last year between,
14:53yeah, August uh and September, it was
14:55around there they announced it. As you
14:58can see, people weren't happy. The price
14:59of this product did drop, but then, you
15:01know, everyone's like, h maybe they'll
15:03unban it. So, people started buying it
15:04back up again. And now you see the
15:06prices, it went skyhigh over the past,
15:09wow, in the past month. Uh it has jumped
15:12$100.
15:14That's pretty insane. Uh okay. It is
15:18what it is. So the cheapest box uh one
15:20of these boxes you can get $85.
15:24No. Is it worth it? No. But there there
15:27are some pretty cool cards and some of
15:28the u more scarce cards in the set. Some
15:30of the mythics have gone up in price
15:32over time as well. you know, especially
15:34the extended art or borderless foil, you
15:36know,
15:38uh I don't know, elephant sitting on a a
15:40pixie stick. Um this was a really cool
15:42set though. Um moving on though, let's
15:45keep it going. Uh here's Calm. Calime
15:47came around. Um this was like pretty
15:49cool because now we're going back to
15:51ice, right? Calime was neat because of
15:53that. I don't think they didn't have
15:55serial numbered cards yet. I don't think
15:56there was anything crazy yet. Um, but
15:59that's coming where like the super
16:01scarce cards uh hit the market. So, at
16:04the time of release, you could pick one
16:06of these up for 200 and about $30. I'm
16:09sorry. No, these were a little cheaper.
16:11These I think these were around $200.
16:14190 200 I think was a time you could get
16:17your hands on these. I do recall that.
16:20Yeah. So, they weren't too crazily
16:23priced there. We were still floating
16:24around the $200 range. You know, nothing
16:26went absurd. You could see the data
16:29right here over time.
16:31Um, then the reason I pull up the other
16:33chart is because when I take a look at
16:35the M price here,
16:38didn't really go up a whole lot, has it?
16:40Calime hasn't performed the best. $255.
16:43If you look at TCG player, yeah. Um,
16:47again, like there's like that 15% drop.
16:50This that might be only like 8% what
16:52we're looking at right now.
16:54uh over the past year it went from Cal
16:57was at 150 now you're up to 225 all
17:00these I think what happened is a new
17:03group of whales came in kind of like um
17:06you know how there's a craze for Pokemon
17:08I think there's been more of a craze for
17:09magic lately um not that it's outshining
17:12Pokemon by any means but um there the
17:15scarcity factors you know these the
17:18ghost rares the fractured foils you know
17:21uh the surge foils
17:23there there's more scarce cards, which I
17:25I did want. I I wanted this. I just
17:28didn't know where it was going to lead.
17:29And that one of these boxes, you know,
17:31we'd see starting prices of $900. It's
17:34just insanity. Uh but right now, you can
17:36pick up one of these boxes. Um this
17:38would be the one I would go with if I
17:40were to purchase uh this one or this
17:42one. Sometimes I go with the one with
17:43more sales. You know, I would stay away
17:45from anything that says 0% again and low
17:47sales. Um so, Night Phoenix game seems
17:50legit. 239.
17:52Moving forward, Stricks Haven, School of
17:56Mages.
17:57I thought this was like um a wannabe
18:01Harry Potter. And I think this is what
18:03triggered Wizards of the Coast to be
18:05like, "All right, I I honestly think
18:07this was the start where they're like,
18:09we need to do something. Why aren't we
18:10bringing in Harry Potter?" You know, we
18:12we could do that, right? You know, like
18:15Lord of the Rings and all that. That
18:16came uh a couple years later after
18:18Stricks Haven.
18:19With Stricks Haven, I really had that
18:22that like Harry Potter kind of vibe or
18:24just, you know, it was all about spells
18:25in this, right? And I was like like this
18:27is them just making a, you know, they're
18:29they're jocking
18:32um, you know, Harry Potter style kind
18:34of, you know, or any kind of magical,
18:36you know, uh, book or movie that was out
18:39and I thought it was neat. But um yeah,
18:42and they had some different kind of um
18:44foilings and that then they introduced
18:46the etched foils were in here along with
18:48same with Commander Legends. I think
18:49there were etched foils in that as well.
18:51Uh yeah, I think Commander Legends was
18:53where we first saw edge foils and uh
18:55Stricks Haven was all right, you know,
18:57but I think this was the the point where
19:01and I even mentioned it when I was
19:02opening these boxes. I'm like, this is
19:04interesting. Stricks Haven, School of
19:05Mages. Wow, this could be Harry Potter,
19:08right? So, um, I think that kind of put
19:10some like the gears were turning at that
19:12point, I think, in Wizards mind. And I
19:14think they knew that as well, you know,
19:15like beforehand. And uh that's when we
19:19started seeing like these huge uh deals,
19:22you know, these huge collabs come
19:24together, you know, where Wizards pays x
19:26amount of bucks, but they get the
19:27rights, you know, to to use they can use
19:30the the the the
19:33names, the the images, you know,
19:34whatever. Uh from, you know, something
19:37pop culture basically in a nutshell. Uh
19:40when the set first came out, yep, you
19:42were looking at around 220 a box. I kind
19:45of remember the price taking a dip, but
19:47it's not really reflected here so much.
19:50I thought it dipped a bit, but I guess
19:51I'm wrong about that. Um, now over time,
19:54we are over to $346 again over this past
19:59year. Man, I'm telling you, I think
20:01there's been a wave of people with a
20:04wave of investors that have kind of
20:06swung in and they're like, we're going
20:08to start uh buying up these older
20:10collector boxes and just sit on them,
20:12you know. But again, that's the only
20:15reason you would want to buy an old
20:17collector box more than like a year old
20:19um would be to sit on it. Once you open
20:21it, uh at that point, yeah, you're not
20:23going to get your money back. It's very,
20:24very rare. Uh don't even want to try.
20:27It's a complete gamble. Uh 362 bucks
20:31looks like the low here kind of. Um
20:34yeah, I mean, Parliament, sure. So,
20:36that's the low here. Uh 362 is where the
20:39price is at today. So, that one uh has
20:41gone up. Modern Horizons 2, man. All
20:44about the fetch, right? Bringing back
20:46the fetch. Um,
20:48pretty cool. There was no Modern
20:50Horizons one collector boxes, but there
20:52was a Modern Horizons 2 collector boxes.
20:54Price was high. Uh, yeah, I do recall.
20:58Uh, I think the low on these were like
20:59350, 360. Uh, I think you some people
21:02got lucky at 320, but it definitely just
21:05kind of went up. It just kind of
21:07immediately went up to like this $400
21:09price range. And uh as over time, this
21:13was one that kind of dipped a bit. It
21:15went up, it went down, it kind of just
21:16chilled out. What happens was when you
21:18have a set that's based around
21:21um Fetchlands and stuff and, you know, a
21:23reprint of them, there's going to be
21:26that hype as you could see, you know, um
21:28on this chart or on this graph here. Um
21:30you could see like, all right, cool.
21:32Like, okay, Fetch Lands has been out a
21:33while. All right, they're becoming more
21:34scarce, more scarce. Okay, cool. And
21:37then the introduction, you know, like we
21:38got I think there was another it was
21:40like a narrow reprinting of Fetchlands
21:43or something in 2023. I could be wrong
21:44about that, but we definitely just got a
21:46reprint uh with Fetchies um recently. Um
21:50and man, prices really tanked. We got
21:52reprint of Shocklands as well. And um
21:55yeah, prices dropped on those cards.
21:57Sure, that's great. They're more
21:58affordable. More people can play. Um so
22:01what happened with this? Well, now
22:04you're looking at the price is less than
22:06when it started
22:08or about the same. You can pick up one
22:11of these boxes for about the same. And
22:12the reason being is because of reprints.
22:14So that's what happened with Modern
22:15Horizons, too. Oh boy. Dungeons and
22:18Dragons Adventures and Forgotten Realms.
22:20What do we got to say about this? Well,
22:23price started out really high and it
22:26nose dove. This was a boring time in
22:28Magic. um just with not so much
22:32impressive cards, I want to say. So, uh
22:36it was cool they did D and D. I thought
22:38that was nice. But, um there were only,
22:39you know, there were a few pretty
22:41powerhouse cards in the set, like all
22:43sets, but between Adventures in
22:46Forgotten Realms, um uh Midnight Hunt,
22:50Industry at Midnight Hunt, and also um
22:53uh Crimson Vow, just kind of a bland
22:56time in Magic. A lot of people were
22:58disappointed, you know, and uh it showed
23:02uh expected value. I like that. $164
23:05expected value if you crack one of these
23:07open. Where is the price at now? Keep in
23:09mind started out high. These I remember
23:11I could have sworn they tanked pretty
23:12hard. Yeah. So that was around 270 280 a
23:16box. Um now you can pick one up for
23:18$235.
23:20Again, over the past year, we're seeing
23:21this trend. They dipped as low as $120
23:24in the past year. Now they have doubled.
23:26They're all the way up to 220. I'm
23:29telling you guys, there's something
23:30going on. There's something in the
23:31water. Industry at Midnight Hunt. I'm
23:34not going to spend too much time on
23:35this. I remember picking up uh almost a
23:37case worth uh on
23:40uh Amazon when there was a fire sale for
23:43like I think it was $100 or $110. I
23:45picked up a bunch of them. Um long gone.
23:48You know, used them for like breaks and
23:49battles and stuff like that uh for
23:51patrons. But the price here uh upon
23:55release uh was way way way too much damn
23:58money.
24:00244 by about 24 like $20, right? That
24:04price I remember came down fast. Like
24:07this this really doesn't depict it that
24:09this doesn't really do it that much
24:10justice because
24:12I know the site does say this is you
24:16know what the what the price was at 200.
24:18No, I I remember these dropping all the
24:20way down to 110, 120, but like legitly
24:24if you were to pick it up like retail, I
24:25mean like 130, but even at that price,
24:28130, uh, local game store owners were
24:31losing money at they couldn't sell it
24:33for they're losing money. They sell it
24:35at the 130 price. I think they they may
24:37have been getting them for like 140ish,
24:38you know, um, and then, you know,
24:40selling them for a little bit markup
24:42because, yeah, you got to run a
24:43business. Where's it at now? Uh, it
24:45hasn't really gone.
24:47not done a whole lot but uh the price as
24:49you can see has gone up. There it is.
24:51See TCG player is much more accurate.
24:53That's why I have TCG player here as
24:54well. One uh 115
24:58118 115. Goldfish specializes more in
25:00single cards. Uh not so much, you know,
25:02like and I don't know their market price
25:04does seem to be a bit higher. Uh it is.
25:06It's a fact. Um you know, for whatever
25:08reason, but I don't think do they even
25:10sell cards over there? I don't think so.
25:12Um but here you go. 42 items sold.
25:16Uh, and why are people are buying these
25:19up? What? Like what is happening here?
25:22That's a pretty big number. Someone's
25:24like, "Yeah, uh, for that's weird,
25:27right?" Yeah. So, maybe um, someone
25:32knows something and we're about to get a
25:34new set that is going to complement this
25:36set. And that's usually what happens.
25:38And then before you know it, Midnight
25:39Hunt, because there's a bunch of synergy
25:40in the new set, uh, those cards spike.
25:43And before you know it, these are going
25:44to be $250, $275 a box. That kind of
25:47crap happens. So, you could pick one up
25:48for 154. This is a longer video, guys,
25:51but I wanted to be, you know, actually,
25:54I only thought it would take 15 minutes.
25:55We're already going at 30. U nearing it.
25:58But this is I thought some very
25:59interesting stuff. You made it this far
26:00in the video. Say, Joey. Um
26:04Um Do that. Just say um um Okay. Because
26:08I just drew a brain fart. So, now we're
26:10on to Crimson Vow. another set that was
26:12just what the heck are we doing here? I
26:14was excited for it initially. Um, but it
26:16didn't it didn't really do that well and
26:18a lot of people were disappointed. Um,
26:19just underwhelming, underperforming, you
26:21know, kind of cards. Um, and we all
26:22think they could have done better. Kind
26:24of some weak power levels. You know, it
26:26just really wasn't that great. I feel
26:28bad for the guy who bought one at $226.
26:30Oh my gosh. Lowest price. Not a chance.
26:33It was way lower than that. You could
26:34have picked these up for 105 bucks at
26:36some point. Let's take a look over here.
26:39As you can see, again, we are seeing
26:42this trend with every single collector
26:44box, they are uh over the last year,
26:47they've all just gone crazy up.
26:50And now you're like, "Yeah, it's been
26:51time." No. Look over the past I wish
26:55this was bigger. I wish this would go to
26:56like three, four years because you will
26:58see this price didn't really move at all
27:01for like three years or two like two and
27:03a half years. It just really didn't do
27:05anything. It's only been this last year
27:07that all these older uh collector boxes
27:10have started jumping, right? When you
27:12have an increase of 46.52%
27:15in the last year on a set that really no
27:17one gives a damn about and the the EV is
27:19probably like a hundred bucks if you're
27:21lucky at a good day. Something's going
27:23on and I think I might be on to it, you
27:25know. Anyway, we move on to Kamagawanian
27:28Dynasty. This was pretty neat. Um
27:30because Kamagawan Dynasty, this was when
27:33we saw the first big pool you can get
27:36out of a magic product, right? And that
27:38was the neon inks. Why they used uh hide
27:41sucko or whatever, you know, is beyond
27:43me. He's a very underwhelming card. Um
27:46it's like why would you pick that card
27:48for the neon ink, you know? I guess
27:51that's they want to I I don't know the
27:54answer to be honest, but they did. Okay.
27:56And you could pull it in red, blue, or
27:58green. And if you went to your local
27:59game store, they had copies of yellow in
28:01there. Prices were crazy. $1,500, $2,000
28:04for the red ink. You know, we pulled the
28:06whole rainbow um of them except the
28:08yellow, which you have to go to a game
28:10store to get it. But I opened all of
28:11them. Even uh twice I opened the blue
28:13neon ink. So, pretty neat opening a red
28:16neon ink at the time. That was unheard
28:18of. That was crazy. That was the coolest
28:19thing ever. A lot of haters. It is what
28:22it is. Um but it was fun. You know,
28:25anytime you do something huge, you're
28:26going to have haters. You know, like
28:27when Post Malone got the 10 or bought
28:29the 101 ring, you know, I what an idiot
28:32paying that much money for that card.
28:33You know,
28:35haters going to hate. It is what it is,
28:37you know. Uh then we see the price
28:39started at around um 185
28:44190. I guess there wasn't a lot of hype
28:46around Kamagawa Neon Dynasty at the
28:47time. Why? I I don't know. I thought it
28:49was cool they were going back to
28:50Kamagawa.
28:52Um, but this one definitely uh again in
28:56the past year, man, you see this jump
28:58from July 2024. All right, here it is.
29:01Something happened here. This is when
29:03like a bunch of investors started moving
29:04in or something. Something happened
29:06here, right? And you can't make the
29:08argument, oh no, this card, you know, it
29:10just found synergy with this card. maybe
29:12a little bit here and there, but with
29:14every single box, every single collector
29:16product having the same looking chart
29:20going up um 40%.
29:24What's going on, baby? You know, because
29:27again, this product just kind of chilled
29:28around this price a little bit, maybe a
29:30little bit less, a little bit up, you
29:31know, like between 220, $260 range, and
29:34then all of a sudden, now we're up to
29:36352, you know, crazy. Um I do not
29:39recommend you pay that much money for
29:40one of these boxes. you will get hosed.
29:42New Capenna. This was like trying to
29:44take on like the the kind of mobster
29:46kind of thing. Uh different kind of
29:48themes. They they were still poking
29:49around with these different kind of
29:50themes, you know. Um and it was soon
29:53thereafter is when we were introduced to
29:58the Lord of the Rings stuff and a whole
29:59bunch of other stuff, you know, started
30:00flying up. Now it's like that's all
30:03we're doing now. You if you want to play
30:06Magic, you got to play Peter Pan. You
30:09want to play Magic standard? You say
30:13you're going to have to play Bart
30:14Simpson. Like what is happening to
30:17Magic? You know, like just corporate and
30:21just shilling and just craziness, man.
30:23Anyway, price of this started out around
30:25230, which um yeah, that was overpriced.
30:29It it definitely dropped. Doesn't really
30:31reflect so much here. New Capenna.
30:35Yeah. Yeah. But again, you see what is
30:39happening again. 49.94%.
30:43Something is going on. What do you guys
30:45think is going on? I think I nailed it
30:47though. Up 50% on this chart. Lowest you
30:52could pick one up for. Uh like 196
30:54roughly, you know, uh 195. Uh Hitman
30:57looked pretty legit, too. So again,
31:00something's happening. Something in the
31:01water. Uh here we go. Dungeons and
31:04Dragons. Um Commander Legends. All the
31:07hype, the hype was real. What was it?
31:08It's been like a year, year and a half
31:09or something since we saw OG Commander
31:11Legends, which was really cool set. A
31:14lot of people were hyped about that. We
31:15thought this was going to be the second
31:16coming of it, but they smacked on
31:19Dungeons and Dragons, right?
31:22And they sold a lot of boxes initially
31:24and then everyone's like pissed like
31:26this sets It's not that good, you
31:28know? Everyone flipped out, right? These
31:30boxes you could have picked up for as
31:31low as I think the lowest was 12130
31:35at release. hype 250ish, right? If you
31:39take a look at the chart again, this
31:42past year, we have seen an increase in
31:45every single collector box across the
31:47map. What is going on? This doesn't
31:49accurately depict it, but these were
31:50really cheap. Again, another product
31:52that you could have picked up for dirt
31:53cheap. People got pissed. People were
31:56upset. They didn't they didn't It's not
31:58what they expected, you know. I thought
31:59the dragons were dope. I thought those
32:01dragons were really cool. So, here you
32:03see the price go from 180. shooting all
32:06the way up in the past year, 300. That
32:08is 54% increase, which is just insane.
32:12Now, we're over at Double Masters 2022.
32:16So, I guess you could say
32:19um the last set we just discussed um the
32:22Dungeons and Dragons stuff that was like
32:24I get, you know, that's Watsi owns
32:27Dungeons and Dragons, you know, it's
32:28under the same umbrella, right? Or does
32:29Hasbro own it now? Who knows? Probably.
32:31Yeah, right. Hasbro owns it now. I guess
32:34I think that's when you know the execs
32:35were really like yeah okay that was like
32:37the test run let's see how it does let's
32:39start pushing everything else on then
32:41the universes beyond really like was in
32:43full gear and they started getting ideas
32:45for what they could do yeah so okay now
32:48this takes us to July 2022
32:52ar June June 17th price $249
32:57double masters 2022 they hit us with
33:00you're only getting four packs What?
33:03Getting four packs and I'm paying like
33:05250 bucks. What are you out of your
33:07mind? So, yeah, that was pretty crazy.
33:10There were some cool cards in here. Um,
33:13some Chase cards, all that good stuff.
33:15And you got a bunch you got a bunch of
33:16cards in there. You know, they did away
33:17with the VIP packs and introduced this.
33:20And let's take a look at the pricing
33:22now. 284 as you can see. But again,
33:26this one I think this is an outlier
33:28somewhat, but still it gone it's gone up
33:30in price. But there's only four packs in
33:32here, you know, and I think um these
33:36really didn't do so. Like like they did
33:38well. These sold a lot. But what I'm
33:40saying is like compared to other
33:42collector boxes, you know,
33:45not as not the same um over time.
33:48Initially, this was one of the hottest
33:50sets for sure.
33:53Nowadays, yeah, again, outlier 16%
33:57um but still gone up in price over the
33:59over the year.
34:01Uh you're looking at like 270ish to get
34:03your uh hands on one of these boxes now.
34:06Very interesting. This brings us over
34:08Dominary United. Now, this is where like
34:09around like I'm going to be jumping
34:11around now. Okay. You're going to get
34:13some sets that you know like like the
34:15whole timeline doesn't really make a
34:16whole lot of sense here, but just bear
34:18with me. Okay. So, here's Dominire
34:20United. I think yeah, before Dominire
34:22United, we did have um I want to I want
34:25to say Lord of the Flies, Lord of the
34:27Rings, which I will get to. Um it's near
34:29the end though and the reason for that
34:31is I don't know but Goldfish doesn't
34:34have any data any data um on X amount of
34:38boxes um or X amount of sets and we'll
34:40get to that in a minute. So now we're at
34:43Dominary United which I was really
34:44excited for and then I wasn't. This set
34:47had the legends you know the third or
34:48fourth card into your collector pack.
34:50You could pull a legend and that was
34:52like the coolest thing like oh my god I
34:53can't wait. It's going to be so cool.
34:55You know how many boxes of this I
34:56opened? Um, I'd say I opened maybe like
34:58four cases worth and like the most
35:00expensive legend I pulled was like 50
35:02bucks. Like like it it was all show no
35:05go. Everyone we were all around that
35:08mind state of I'm going to pull the
35:10tabernacle of paper and we we didn't uh
35:15it was very very very rare case. I don't
35:17even know if it's on camera that someone
35:18opened it but we were all after the
35:20tabernacle. Okay. Um it it was a chase
35:23to get some old vintage cards that
35:27apparently they had hidden away in uh a
35:30bunker somewhere for you know 30 years,
35:3325 years, whatever. So yeah, now we're
35:35sitting over August um or July 2022.
35:40Dominaria uh United drops a lot of hype.
35:44This this I was so hyped we were going
35:47back to Dominaria. You know, we did see
35:48some cool cards in here, but I just I
35:51don't know. I I the collector packs I
35:53did not like. There was something about
35:54it. I think it was the coloring. I
35:56didn't like the yellow uh frame. There
35:58was something they did with it. It was
36:02I I was not a huge fan. Um and I
36:05initially was and then I pulled back. So
36:07now one of these boxes is going for less
36:09than what it was at release. Do we see
36:12the same trend? You bet your bottom. But
36:14we do. 30% increase over the past year.
36:16Yet again, what are we learning right
36:19now? If you buy a collector box, the
36:21price will go up. And a lot of people
36:23have jumped on that ship. A lot of
36:25people are like, "Wow, this is so true.
36:27That's that. Let's make Spider-Man $900
36:30at release." So, if you open a collector
36:32box, you're guaranteed to lose half your
36:34value. No, maybe triple your value
36:37instantly. It doesn't make any damn
36:40sense what's happening right now with uh
36:41collector boxes and magic. Um it's the
36:44collector boxes have been taken over by
36:46the rich, if you want my opinion. and
36:48the whole universe the the the the
36:50universe's world again after Final
36:53Fantasy that kind of set the tone uh of
36:56hey
36:58this is going to be crazy but if we have
37:00one of these special sets you know um
37:03the crowd's going to go wild and
37:05everyone's going to flip out man and the
37:07box prices are going to soar within a
37:09couple months I mean if you would have
37:10bought a case of you know Final Fantasy
37:12collector boxes which we'll get to what
37:14like what are they 550 600 bucks a Were
37:18they 500 bucks? I can't remember.
37:21Wait till you see the price now. So
37:23anyway, here's Dominero United. Um, now
37:26we're sitting at about 223 if you want
37:28to get your hands on one. Then we go to
37:29Infinity.
37:32This was kind of like we've seen it,
37:34we've been here, we've done that, you
37:36know. Wasn't there another unset? But I
37:38don't think we had collector boxes for
37:40that onset if I'm not mistaken. We
37:41weren't there yet. Yeah, that was right
37:43before we we did collector boxes. It was
37:46another unset, but Infinity came out,
37:47which I thought the Galaxy foils are
37:49dope. I really like it. It's really
37:50neat. Um, and this came out way back uh
37:56yeah, November. Back in November.
37:59Uh, right before uh Brothers War and box
38:03prices was that 214. It's a unset, so
38:05it's like unpopular, you know? It kind
38:09of It's like a It's a silly set, but
38:11they're like, "Let's throw in cards you
38:13can actually play with. That'll sell
38:14boxes. Hurry.
38:16Didn't really work so much, you know.
38:18Um, now the price uh it only went up a
38:21tiny bit and it's probably because look
38:23at this. It's like
38:27something something in the water, man.
38:3077% increase.
38:34I can't go back in time and do a battle
38:36with this. I can't justify opening an
38:40old I don't even know if I could justify
38:42doing a collector box battle anymore.
38:44because we are guaranteed to lose our
38:47money.
38:49Not just lose our money because that
38:50that happens, right? It's like that's
38:53normal to lose your money, right? You
38:55know, but you don't do awful.
38:58This box you'll be lucky to pull $120
39:02worth of value out of. They're selling
39:04at almost $300. Okay, problem.
39:08Brothers War.
39:10This one I was really hyped for, too.
39:12This was uh the the the the Öza battle
39:15with his uh with his bro, right? And uh
39:19it was exciting. Uh Mishra, really cool.
39:22We were all pumped. I think it's it's
39:25still a cool set. Um Öza in his full
39:28form came through. Everyone said it
39:30wouldn't happen. Uh I silenced the
39:32doubters as he came through in his true
39:34planes walker form. Took up two cards,
39:36but d gosh darn it, he did it. So now uh
39:40at pre-release they were at 240 so like
39:42around 220 right and now brothers war
39:45again something happened here in the
39:47last two two two and a half months I
39:50think what happened was the Final
39:52Fantasy you know how it just skyrocketed
39:55because if you look at it I mean the
39:56proof's in the pudding all these charts
39:58show in like a two-month period the
40:00price just going crazy went up a little
40:02bit but in the last two months two and a
40:04half months since Final Fantasy release
40:06you know went crazy Right. And uh
40:10once the price started rising on that,
40:12everyone I think we got a lot of people
40:14that were outside the game that came in
40:16and they're like, "Well, I can I'll just
40:19buy up a bunch of these collector
40:20boxes." And they did. They did. People
40:23started buying them. See, look. Slow
40:24sales. Slow sales. Slow sales. But then
40:26something probably happens. Yep. Here we
40:28go. Now we're 14, 19, 20. See this? 22,
40:3120. Like, look at these numbers. No one
40:33really gave a Final Fantasy
40:36dropped and everyone gave a Oh my
40:38god. 36 people were FOMO. Panic, panic.
40:42Ah, what is going on here?
40:45Now we're out. You're completely
40:46outpriced. You buy one of these boxes
40:48again. Lucky to get 160 bucks worth of
40:50value. Just insane. Um, around this
40:53time, yes, there were uh the serial
40:54numbered cards. I'm I'm past that
40:56already, though. Um, I can't remember
40:58which set ushered that in. I'd have to
41:00go back. Um, who could tell me what set
41:02introduced serial numbered cards? That's
41:04a good question. Fyexia, I'll be one. I
41:07was hyped about this set then. I'm still
41:08hyped about it now. I think this was one
41:10of the most solid. Magic the Gathering.
41:13This brings me back to where uh I
41:17enjoyed playing the game. Um and and and
41:21that's where my love was, you know, like
41:22like having fun with the cards and and
41:25playing, you know, and it was just a
41:27really cool set. Price came out
41:30reasonably, I guess, uh for one of
41:32these. About it was about 200 bucks uh
41:34at pre-release, if I recall correct.
41:37No, you're not going to spend 44. That's
41:39insanity. Uh I thought there were quite
41:41a few serial numbers in this set, too.
41:42Yeah, there definitely were. Um yeah,
41:46just over the past year, the price is
41:49like again something is 106% increase,
41:53guys.
41:55Holy crap.
41:58Look at the sa the sales numbers are
42:00just out of this world. And I know some
42:03of you are like, that's only six. That's
42:05only eight B. Yes, they stopped buying
42:06once they like they swooped them all up
42:08here. This is when everyone's like give
42:09me give me give me give me give me I
42:11don't even know if it was everyone. It's
42:12probably just a select few. Usually they
42:14do this and they do it on the hush.
42:17Who's going to spend $488 on one of
42:20these boxes now? You got to be freaking
42:22nuts. When was the most recent sale?
42:27Average daily sold two. That's crazy
42:31in the last month. One.
42:34Somehow it's still climbing, but only
42:36one sold in the That's on TCG player.
42:39Whatever. Very interesting. I'd like to
42:42get a like data from everywhere of what
42:44the price sold for, you know? That'd be
42:46pretty interesting. Um there's a site
42:47that does it, but it's kind of choppy.
42:49It's It's whatever. 106% increase in one
42:52year. You want a box of this? $500. Just
42:55bonkers. March of the machine.

43:06this dropped in at around two 215 220.
43:10It was a rather disappointing set. March
43:13of the machine. Uh yeah, it it was like
43:17whatever. See, look, for the longest
43:19time, it just kind of chilled around

43:36Then we got March of the Machine
43:37Aftermath.
43:39This was the set that smacked Magic the
43:41Gathering players in the face outside of
43:4330th edition. Uh let's like exclude 30th
43:46edition from this and just focus on
43:48March the Machine: The Aftermath. They
43:50were like Wizards is like, "I got an
43:53idea. We're making all this money off
43:55collector boxes. Let's double dip on
43:56each set. Here's what we'll do. we'll
43:58just be like, "Oh, wait." You know, like
44:00a month later, here's more cards for
44:02that set. We'll just make it a small
44:04little set when it should have been in
44:05the first set to begin with. Brilliant.
44:08Go ahead, Billy. Do that. And they ran
44:10with it and they did it. And then they
44:13regretted it because they never did that
44:14again because we let them know that
44:16was bozo stupid and we're not going
44:19to put up with it. And uh we didn't. 200
44:22bucks a box. That never happened. Um,
44:25these they were pricey I think for a
44:28short while
44:30and they kunked. Yeah, they Yeah. Yeah,
44:34they dropped as low as $75. Uh, I think
44:37I remember seeing a collector box for 65
44:39one time. Over the past year though, up
44:4258%.
44:44Interesting. Interesting. Commander
44:46Masters, fun little set here. Commander
44:48Masters was got the reprint with the
44:50jeweled Lotus and we were all like,
44:51"Yay!" And then Wizards is like, "Bam!"
44:53You know, why would you do that to us?
44:56Cool set, though. Price started very
44:59reasonably. Was it four packs? Yep. Four
45:00packs. Again, they ran the same model.
45:03Um 200 about $190 I want to say at
45:06release. And uh now you're looking at
45:09329 again over the past year. Up 54%.
45:13You see the same trend again and again.
45:15Wilds of El Drain, a lot of people's
45:17favorite. We like Throne of El Drain.
45:18They brought in Wilds of El Drain. The
45:20crowd went wild. What happened here?
45:22Well, let's take a look. Started at two
45:25about 200 bucks. It was really
45:27reasonably priced. Now it's just stupid.
45:30All right. There are serial numbered
45:32cards in here, but look at Oh my. I
45:34haven't seen this. Up 131%. And oh my
45:38god,
45:41there's no point to buy sealed collector
45:43boxes anymore. Um
45:47I I I honestly don't think there's a
45:49there's a point. you're going to lose
45:51money no matter what. I get it's older
45:53stuff, but even on the new stuff,
45:55there's no if Spider-Man drops at $900 a
45:58box, which I hope it doesn't, but if it
46:00does, which I think it has already, you
46:03can't make there's there's no you who's
46:05buying that other than people who are
46:08trying to flip it and and and collector,
46:10you know, or not collector um card
46:13stores, you know, like they're they're
46:15they're they're paying, you know,
46:16they're buying them up, you know, too.
46:17But I mean, they're selling them, you
46:19know, to like the average Joe. But the
46:21average Joe is being eliminated from the
46:23equation.
46:25The average player is getting knocked
46:27the hell out. Uh, Lost Caverns of
46:30Exelon. Cool. They brought back like
46:32that kind of neon ink stuff, you know,
46:34um with uh some uh that one artifact.
46:37Yeah. Um, manacrypt. Sweet. I never
46:40pulled one of those fancy ones even
46:42though I opened like three cases of this
46:44crap. Never got one. I know. And when I
46:46open when I open cases of stuff, guys, I
46:49don't got the money to do that. I'm
46:50opening it for a local game store. All
46:52that stuff's going in on their shelves
46:54for players to play with, to use, to
46:57buy. You know, that's what game stores
47:00do. They have a lot of product, but
47:02instead of them just opening the product
47:03and putting their singles on the shelf
47:05and no one seeing it, I get to share
47:08that experience with you guys. and we
47:10get a good sample size of what comes in
47:12one of these boxes because we're opening
47:14so many of them. So, just keep that in
47:17mind, you know, cuz I get some weird
47:18comments from people, man, that are just
47:19hating and I'm like, why are you hat do
47:21you even know what you're saying? Right?
47:22Like I I don't think they understand
47:23what's going on. Anyway, started in this
47:26was a cool set. I I like dinos. So, um
47:28yeah, around 200 bucks. 200 bucks a pop.
47:32Price is now at $51.
47:35Uh oh, again, uh I don't need to say it.
47:38That 40. That 40, man. That gosh darn
47:4140.
47:43Jurassic Park cards were in here. That
47:44was really neat. There's no chance in
47:46hell you'll ever catch me or asking
47:48patrons for $500 to buy a collector box.
47:51We are We are all being priced out of
47:54collector boxes. It is It's happening.
47:56It has happened. It's It's done. It's an
47:59It's bad. Ravnikica Remastered. This was
48:02once a decently affordable set, you
48:04know, one of the better ones um from the
48:06remastered stuff around $ 250
48:09price now almost $500. Another example
48:12of this one 66. Yep. I remember with
48:15patrons we were cracking this back then.
48:17Reasonably priced. Yep. 300 bucks. Now,
48:19if I want to do that with them, $500.
48:22Get the hell out of here. That's just
48:24insanity, man. Murders Carl Manor. Um
48:28hype hype hype murder mystery set.
48:30everyone was some Bob is like at at at
48:33Hasbro, you know, they were like, "Hey,
48:35Watsy, you know, like everyone's into
48:38these murder mystery things and, you
48:39know, like how to solve, you know,
48:41getting out of a break room or whatever
48:43the crap, you know, let's make a little
48:45something around all that crap." Well,
48:47people buy it, right? You know, like
48:48that's kind of what happened and people
48:51really didn't care for it. Um, and as
48:53you can see, yeah, price started out um
48:56around 210
48:58and currently it hasn't really moved
49:03until
49:05Yeah, it dropped. It dropped a lot. this
49:08one. Again, I don't know why Goldfish

49:37own MTG Goldfish do like are they in
49:40cahoots with Wizards of the Coast?
49:41Because this data is false. If you're
49:44getting all your info from from this
49:46site, it's false. I hate to say it, you
49:48know, but I wanted to use it as an
49:50example because it has a nice like the
49:52graphs are nice, the charts are nice.
49:54You want some really good data. TCG
49:56player and I pray to God TCG player will
49:59expand this search to like like to five
50:02years or something, you know, give us
50:04five years. You got all this data. Why
50:06why are we kicking it out of the system
50:07after one year? Please, can we can we
50:10introduce more data? You know, um that'd
50:13be great. Anyway, this set Yeah, Kplunk.
50:15People were pissy again. That 40%
50:18increase. Something's going on, man.
50:20Outlaws, Thunder Junction, Cowboys, Wild
50:23West. Yeah. Uh, again, they're just
50:26trying. Um, this set was all right, you
50:29know? I thought, but I'm just so sick of
50:32the gimmicky That's all I'm
50:33saying. I'm sick of the gimmicky stuff,
50:35but I get they're trying to bring in new
50:37people and that's the way to do it. Some
50:38of the new gimmicks are kind of cool,
50:40you know, don't get me wrong, but it's
50:42like they're they're closing their eyes
50:43and throwing a dart at a dart board
50:45after being spun around five times.
50:47They're just trying to even hit the
50:49board, you know, with some of these
50:51sets. Anyway, take a look. Set dropped.
50:54It was pretty pricey. Yeah. 220, 230.
50:57Now, uh, it went up a tiny bit, but
51:02it really dropped.
51:05It went down a lot. Um, and again,
51:08you're not going to see that on the
51:09other side on Goldfish, but realistic
51:12prices here, man. And then something
51:14happened. 58% happened. Next set, Modern
51:18Horizons 3. Tons of hype around this
51:20one. Cool set. All the Modern Horizon
51:21sets, I think, are pretty nice, man.
51:23This one was pretty dope. Um, price. Uh,
51:27was it that high really?
51:30I think it was. It was pretty crazy
51:31priced. I don't know if I remember. It
51:33wasn't $44.99. Um, but I remember like
51:35like 400 something I thought like early
51:37on.
51:39Okay, I'm way off. It was way below
51:41that. So, according to Goldfish,
51:45um, price data, they say
51:50it started at $525.
51:53What are they smoking over there at
51:55Goldfish? Um, no. If I can't recall
51:59correctly, but yeah, I like maybe it was
52:01the high. It might have only been 300
52:03bucks. Someone look this stuff up. It
52:04might have been 280. I can't recall.
52:06But, uh, as you can see over the past
52:08year, 47% increase. What is happening
52:10here? Bloomber. This set, I wasn't too
52:14thrilled with it to begin with, but it
52:15grew on me, and it is probably one of
52:18the best Magic the Gathering sets that
52:20has dropped in the past five years. Um,
52:22arguably so. Uh, what do you think is
52:25one of the best sets that dropped the
52:26past, uh, five years? You know, I'd love
52:27to hear that. Uh, this set came in, uh,
52:30they're saying 249. I mean, if we pull
52:32up the data, I think I can't really
52:34recall what it was at. Um, 249. That
52:38What the hell?
52:41A 207%
52:44increase in price.
52:47What is happening?
52:49You could have picked these boxes up for
52:51$200 a year ago. That was that was
52:54release price sale, right around then.
52:57Is that isn't this when this set came
52:58out? It's been about a year and a half,
53:00right? Yeah, about a year and a half.
53:05$200. What? What's happened? What is
53:08happening here? I hope I hope people
53:09watch this video. I hope this video gets
53:12shared because this is a video people
53:13are not aware of. There is some
53:16craziness going on with collector boxes.
53:19And I think it's very important people
53:21pay attention to what's being what's
53:22going on here because no one's
53:24discussing this Um, Duskorn.
53:28Wasn't the House of Horrors? Wasn't this
53:29the failed set? I think Murders at Carlo
53:32Man Banner. I thought that one kind of
53:33sucked. Was it Dusour that people hated
53:35or Dusorn was better? I mean, I'm
53:38confusing the two. I always confuse
53:39those two. Um, according to Goldfish
53:43250, nowhere near that. Um,
53:47it was uh maybe it was No, no, no. It
53:49goes back a little further. Around 200
53:51bucks. But this set, people like Yeah,
53:53people gravitated towards this set.
53:55People, I think, liked this set. It was
53:57Carl Manor that people didn't like this
53:59one. Dust one was pretty cool. The House
54:00of Horrors. And uh yeah, as you can see,
54:03uh there's that 50% price hike.
54:06Innistrad Remastered. Again, not
54:08everything's going to be like um correct
54:10by the date and year and everything, you
54:12know. Uh this one, here we go. Um again,
54:16three something.
54:18You could get it for less than it came
54:20out. Um Oh, wow. This one was more
54:23recent. I'm surpris I can't believe it's
54:25not butter. So, hype price 320 price
54:28dropped down to 290 shot back up and
54:31then came back down and now we're here
54:33again in the past month, two months. You
54:37see a bunch of sales. Some people came
54:40in or the price is just going up.
54:42Someone came in, man. Somebody came in.
54:44Aether Drift. Now, we're in some pretty
54:45recent stuff here. Um and the data is
54:48just kind of flatlined here, you know,
54:50but this was not too long ago. Aether
54:52Drift 220 bucks. You uh not too not too
54:56far off from that. Um it dipped all the
54:58way down to 180. People were not really
55:01too thrilled with this set. Um it was
55:03very very vehiclebased, you know. Um
55:06right now 220 bucks. Uh get your hands
55:09on one of these boxes. But again, in
55:12that past month, it even applies to
55:13Aetherdrift in that p in the past two
55:16months. This this freaking hike, man.
55:18Something's something's going on. Final
55:20Fantasy.
55:22It has begun. Yeah, this is the data on
55:24Goldfish. I mean, there's just not
55:25enough. It just came out, right?
55:28This is nuts. Uh, Final Fantasy, the one
55:30that just did crazy again. We see this
55:32trend.
55:34Can I Can I Can I do it here, too? Yeah,
55:36right here. Two months. That two-month
55:38period, goes crazy. And then people
55:40were thinking, "Well, crap. If Final
55:43Fantasy can go up like this, I bet every
55:45collector box can go up like this." That
55:48was, I think, the mentality. and people
55:49just started buying up the collector
55:51boxes. Here's the proof in the pudding
55:52right here is when it all began over the
55:55past year. We didn't know about it yet,
55:56but that the last three months, you see,
55:57that's when the prices all hiked within
56:00a two to three month period. Price hike
56:02on all collector boxes. Nutty. So, Final
56:05Fantasy um was what happened. Uh you
56:09could have picked one up. I think it was
56:10550
56:11um 600 bucks, you know, re at release if
56:14you're the average schmo. That crap went
56:18it went it went to the moon, right? Um
56:21the price has gone up a lot. Uh 100%
56:24increase over the past uh few uh since
56:29release. 100%. It's nuts. Now, if you
56:32want to get a box,
56:34um they're selling they're selling empty
56:37boxes.
56:38Are you seeing this? They're selling
56:40empty boxes. That's how insane. Okay,
56:44now it's over um uh almost $1,400. That
56:47is nuts. Edge of Eternity is brand
56:49spanking new. Edge of Eternities. We're
56:52looking at
56:53uh this one just dropped. So, past six
56:56months around 250 again that like three
57:00that that like like what is happening
57:01here? Edge of Attorneys just came out
57:03though, right? So, why do we have data
57:05way back then? Uh three months. End of
57:08eternities just came out like within the
57:09past month, didn't it? Or is time flying
57:11that freaking fast? I think time's
57:14flying that fast. Okay, so now you're at
57:17400 bucks, but again, like still within
57:19the past couple months, like like that
57:21Final Fantasy man. Just stuff just
57:23started spiking.
57:26There's no reason to buy an Edge of
57:28Eternity's box uh for 400 bucks right
57:31now. But you know what? There is because
57:33uh down the road in a year, this is
57:36going to be 500 bucks. So I guess if you
57:38want to look at it like that and keep it
57:39sealed, go ahead.
57:40Lord of the Rings. Boy, oh boy. Oh boy.
57:43A lot to say on this one, but we're not
57:45going to. So, because the data was
57:47difficult to find, I just went and just
57:49Googled it, right? Um, I asked my good
57:51old Brave here. I said, "Brave, what do
57:53you know about this?" Brave told me $450
57:55bucks upon release. Pretty crazy. Where
57:58is it at now? $1,000.
58:01Um, it went from 500. Insane. And Rudy
58:05called this. Rudy Boy, I give credit
58:07where credit's due, Rudy Boy. He called
58:09these were going to be over a thousand
58:10bucks. Uh, and he was not wrong. Um, and
58:13I think we all saw that coming and
58:14especially with the whole Lord of the
58:17Rings again, not the Lord of the Rings,
58:19with the whole Final Fantasy just
58:20goes boom. Stuff goes crazy. Then we
58:23move over special edition uh price on
58:26this one when it dropped. This one's
58:28kind of weird. It says it was $700. It
58:30was not though. Like I guess by August
58:322024 it was, but when it first came out
58:34they were like500 450 something like
58:36that. Um, and now as you can see, it's
58:40you can't afford these.
58:44232% increase in the past year. $2,400 a
58:49box. I remember talking to patrons
58:51saying, "Hey, let's get it. Let's buy a
58:52box." And it was $1,200. And I couldn't
58:54justify doing it at that price. So, I
58:56didn't do it. Now, we're looking at
58:58$2,200 a box. I should have just bought
59:00the damn box then and then just hung on
59:03to it and sold it. Why the hell not?
59:06$2,400 a box. Pretty crazy. You could
59:09have bought a case of those at release
59:10for that price roughly. Fallout, another
59:14cool one. Uh, this one went kind of
59:15bonkers as well. Fallout when it came
59:17out, someone saying uh yeah, if you had
59:20a pre-order of Fallout for $198.99,
59:24that's cool and all, but um something
59:26tells me um that that got refunded, but
59:29it was available for around $1.99
59:32at some retailers. Maybe it was. That's
59:36pretty nuts, though. I don't remember it
59:37being that cheap, but you know what?
59:39Maybe it was, and I'm just not recalling
59:41correct. But now, if you look at
59:44Fallout,
59:46what
59:48from uh one year ago, $500, it is at
59:52122% price increase, sitting at $1,100.
59:58That is insane. There's a Japanese uh
1:00:01Fallout for 780.
1:00:04Doctor Who. Another one. Um, I I didn't
1:00:07know anything about Doctor Who. Um, just
1:00:08I said I really didn't care too much
1:00:10about, but I looked this one up around
1:00:112:30. Around 2:30 was pre-order. Now
1:00:154:30 again this past
1:00:18uh three. What more do you need to see?
1:00:23Something happened here, guys. And I
1:00:26don't know who it was, what it was.
1:00:28Aliens. They started buying up all the
1:00:31collector boxes on the market. And uh
1:00:33they're not st it looks like they
1:00:35finally will. You know what? This is
1:00:36going to climb and then we're at that
1:00:38peak, right? This is going to take off.
1:00:41None of these boxes are worth this
1:00:44This is not worth $440. This is probably
1:00:46worth Yeah. about$220.
1:00:49You You just It's an instant loss on
1:00:51your money. You can't even buy this
1:00:53right now to invest in at $400 or $450.
1:00:55You just can't. What the What's the
1:00:58point? Who's dumb enough to buy it at
1:01:00that price? I don't know. I could be
1:01:02wrong about this. Maybe it's just going
1:01:03to keep going up. Dominary Remastered.

1:01:11168 to 175. Really? Oh, that was a draft
1:01:13booster box listed at that price. Okay.
1:01:16Uh collector boxes 239 to 291. Where are
1:01:19they at now, you ask? 319 again. We see
1:01:23that movement. Let's see. Three months.
1:01:24There's that three-month movement, baby.
1:01:26That sweet 15 20% increase over the past
1:01:30year. 59% increase. You could pick a box
1:01:32up for as low as about 315.
1:01:36It's not low.
1:01:38Foundations, you just dropped recently
1:01:41within the past year. It's crazy. It's
1:01:42almost been It's already been a year. Oh
1:01:44my god, dude. Guys, time is just flying
1:01:48by so fast. I swear. Foundations. It

1:01:55reprinting collector boxes again. So
1:01:57they say. Uh there were serial numbered
1:02:00stuff in these and uh very soughtafter
1:02:02cards out of these uh foundations
1:02:03collector boxes. There were serial
1:02:04numbered, right? Why can't I think of
1:02:06them? I swear there were serial numbered
1:02:07cards in these. Maybe I'm wrong. I
1:02:09swear. Now you're looking at
1:02:13$450.
1:02:16Again, that three that three month
1:02:18didn't I mean there's that month right
1:02:20there. I guess it's kind of weird. Okay,
1:02:25this is an outlier. We have an outlier
1:02:26kind of. There's still that like that
1:02:28month period right here where like it
1:02:29went boom. So there's that on uh
1:02:32foundations and then Tarker Dragonstorm.
1:02:34I love dragons. I thought that was
1:02:35really cool. Uh here's the price data on
1:02:38this one. Um as you can see in the Yeah,
1:02:42since release it was about two Yeah. two
1:02:45Okay. 275. This one went way up and now
1:02:48it looks like it kind of stabilized. And
1:02:50this is another set people have not
1:02:51gobbled up. Or maybe Yeah. There. You
1:02:53know what? Here's the thing. There's
1:02:55still a lot available on the market for
1:02:57this price. So, I would say if you're
1:02:59going to buy any box right now, you
1:03:01probably want to go with Tark or Dragon
1:03:03Storm. That would be the box to buy
1:03:06right now if you had to ask me. As far
1:03:09as this goes, this is going to drop.
1:03:12This is going to drop. I'm I'm guessing.
1:03:14I I could be wrong. Spider-Man is not
1:03:17going to do anywhere near what Final
1:03:19Fantasy did. It shouldn't at least,
1:03:21right? But maybe it will. Who knows?
1:03:24This should drop to like 600. And this
1:03:26is Wait, hold on. This is Spider-Man,
1:03:28right?
1:03:32The set's called Spider-Man.
1:03:35Why is Spiderwoman
1:03:37gracing the very front? Why do Why do
1:03:39they do that with with magic lately? Ser
1:03:42like for real serious question. This
1:03:43set's called Spider-Man yet Spider-Man's
1:03:46depicted very tiny over here and
1:03:49Spiderwoman is right here. This isn't
1:03:51Spiderwoman. Like I mean I'm just facts
1:03:53are facts, right? This is Spider-Man. I
1:03:56expect to see Spider-Man on on gracing
1:03:59the cover larger like right in my face.

1:04:07going on anymore? Um yeah, these boxes
1:04:10should be around this. This was the
1:04:11entry uh point was 500 um 530 540.
1:04:16Uh, people started buying pre-sale once
1:04:18again once they saw what happened with
1:04:21with Final Fantasy. Again, that
1:04:23two-month period, just went crazy.
1:04:25People started like FOMO. Everyone's
1:04:27freaking out and everyone thinks this is
1:04:28going to be the next Final Fantasy. It's
1:04:30going to be like, don't buy these. Do
1:04:32not buy these collector boxes. Stop
1:04:34buying this Can we just stop
1:04:36buying collector boxes for a while? Can
1:04:38we just stop?
1:04:40How many out you How many out there of
1:04:42you can afford How many of you out there
1:04:44can afford a $1,000 box right now when
1:04:47you're probably going to get back maybe
1:04:49300 bucks in value? How many of you
1:04:51right comment below? I don't think
1:04:53there's too many not too many people out
1:04:56there can afford that. This is this has
1:04:58become a collector's it's a collector
1:05:02rightfully so, but this has become a
1:05:05whale collector thing. This isn't nor
1:05:08like this is just ridiculous anymore.
1:05:10The next set's probably going to do the
1:05:12same kind of Um I think we're
1:05:14going to see some kind of collapse
1:05:15though with these crazy prices because
1:05:18no one's going to want to buy them. Um
1:05:21it's just going to be a bunch of old
1:05:22dudes with a lot of money sitting around
1:05:24and the shit's going to be in their
1:05:25warehouse. I think that's where we're
1:05:27kind of headed with uh with collector
1:05:29boxes if this if the pattern continues.
