  1. 0:00In this video, you will be learning everything you  need to know on how to become an effective Gold Laner,
  2. 0:04including how to play at each phase of the game  and important tips that you should apply.
  3. 0:08So for the Beginners who don’t know  yet...
  4. 0:10what the FISH is Gold Lane? Well, in Mobile Legends, the map is divided  in 3 lanes.
  5. 0:14The top and bottom lanes  are randomly assigned as the Gold  or EXP lanes when the game starts.
  6. 0:19You can see where the Gold Lane is when the  game starts by looking at the mini-map. See
  7. 0:23the Gold Dollar Icon here? That’s where  the Gold Lane is for that specific game.
  8. 0:27If you’re Epic Rank or higher, you can  also check this during the Drafting Phase
  9. 0:31by clicking the little map icon here. Over  here, you can see where the Gold Lane is.
  10. 0:35What gives the Gold Lane its name is a  special cannon minion that provides *35%
  11. 0:39extra gold (as of Patch 1.8.20) compared  to the other cannon minions in the other
  12. 0:41lanes during the first 5 minutes of  the game. This obviously means that
  13. 0:45the Gold Laner will be able to gain  Gold faster than the other roles.
  14. 0:49As the Gold Laner, your main responsibility is  to be the primary damage dealer for your team,
  15. 0:53especially during the later stages of the game.
  16. 0:56In order to do that, your priority for the  early and mid phases of the game will be
  17. 1:00to farm as much as possible so you can  get as much Levels and Gold as humanly
  18. 1:04possible. Levels will increase your damage  through base attributes and upgrading skills,
  19. 1:08while obtaining Gold will give you access to  items which massively boost your damage output.
  20. 1:13So the question is then, which  heroes can do the job? Well,
  21. 1:16we want heroes that have high damage  scaling so that all the resources that
  22. 1:19are funnelled to the Gold Laner will  mean something. In Mobile Legends,
  23. 1:22this will be most of the Marksman heroes, and  can sometimes be Mages, such as Lunox and Harith.
  24. 1:27This is because Marksman heroes have ranged  attacks and can continuously deal high sustained
  25. 1:31damage throughout fights. Here are the current  meta Gold Laners as of the time of recording,
  26. 1:36and also the Heroes which I believe are  more suitable for Beginners to play.
  27. 1:39For Beginners, try to play and master around 1  or 2 heroes first. This will reduce your stress
  28. 1:44in trying to learn new mechanics, so you can  focus on improving other aspects of your game.
  29. 1:49If you’re unsure of how to play a  specific hero, do join my Discord
  30. 1:52server. Our Discord community is really helpful  and can definitely give you tips on how to play
  31. 1:57them. You can find the link to the Discord  server in the description of this video.
  32. 2:00Now that we know what is the Gold Lane and  what a Gold Laner’s main responsibilites are,
  33. 2:05let’s talk about how to actually play one.
  34. 2:07Between the start of a game until about the 5  minutes mark, is usually known as the Early Game,
  35. 2:11or the Laning Phase. As mentioned earlier,  the Gold Lane will be supplied with the gold
  36. 2:15cannon minion in the first 5 minutes, as  such, it is extremely important for you to
  37. 2:20be in the lane to farm the gold from  the minion waves during this period.
  38. 2:23Positioning in the lane as a Solo-Q Gold  Laner is crucial. Try to position yourself
  39. 2:28on either side of the lane, and not in the middle.
  40. 2:30The reason is because the middle is  where you will be most vulnerable.
  41. 2:34The safe side of the lane is where  you will be the “safest” as it
  42. 2:37will be difficult to be ganked from this  area. If the enemy approaches your lane,
  43. 2:40you will usually have sufficient time  to retreat. Staying on the safe side
  44. 2:44will sometimes force the enemy laner to the  opposite side, which is more prone to ganking.
  45. 2:48The opposite side is more risky than  the safe side, but will still usually
  46. 2:51be better than being in the middle. Being  on the opposite side will give you vision
  47. 2:55to the routes leading into the lane, giving  you information of any enemy approach. But it
  48. 3:00is prone to surprise engages if the enemy has  ranged engage tools, such as Franco’s Hook,
  49. 3:04or Khufra’s Jump. So be prepared if  you choose to stay in this position.
  50. 3:08As much as possible, try to make use of the  bushes and remain in them, especially if you’re
  51. 3:13not actively attacking. This denies enemy vision  on you which makes it more difficult to gank you.
  52. 3:17As much as positioning is  key, map awareness is equally,
  53. 3:21if not more important. As a Solo-Q Gold Laner,  90% of staying alive is actually dependent on
  54. 3:26how aware you are of the map. Missing  enemies means potential ganks on you,
  55. 3:30and given how squishy you are, a simple  2-man-gank can easily lead to your death.
  56. 3:34So make sure you always keep one eye on the  map. The key enemies you want to watch out
  57. 3:38for are the enemy Roamer, Mid-laner and  Jungler. It is very common for either of
  58. 3:42these enemies to rotate to the Gold Lane  to secure a kill on you in the early game.
  59. 3:46Roamers sometimes like to start straight at  the Gold Lane at the beginning of the game,
  60. 3:49so when you’re pathing towards the  Gold Lane during the start of the game,
  61. 3:52you should already keep an eye on the map to see  if the enemy Roamer can be spotted anywhere on
  62. 3:56the map. If you do not see him at all, you  should play safer with your positioning.
  63. 4:00Junglers like to path towards the Gold Lane for  an early gank around the 1 min to 2 mins mark,
  64. 4:04so make sure you play safer during this period,
  65. 4:07especially if you have no teammates near you.  Your Roamer may sometimes provide vision on
  66. 4:11the Jungler at the start of the game, so if  you see them starting at the EXP side buff,
  67. 4:15you can expect that the enemy Jungler will rotate  to the Gold Lane around that timing.
  68. 4:19On the other hand, if you see your team’s  Jungler or other teammates pathing towards
  69. 4:23you, you can try to bait the opposing  laner or just be prepared to gank him.
  70. 4:27Make sure you keep an eye on the Mid  Lane minion wave situation as well,
  71. 4:30as Mid Laners may rotate to gank you  when they have cleared their wave.
  72. 4:33And of course, we should not forget that there’s  the opposing Gold Laner which you will have to face.
  73. 4:37Sometimes, you will face him 1v1, and other  times, the enemy Roamer will babysit them and you
  74. 4:42will be 1v2. In a 1v2 situation, it’s best to just  play safe and grab whatever farm you can safely.
  75. 4:47It’s not wrong to keep hugging your tower in this  situation if that’s what you need to remain safe.
  76. 4:51In Solo-Q. you should not expect  your Roamer to babysit and stick
  77. 4:55with you 24/7 during the laning phase.  As the role’s name states, it’s a Roamer
  78. 4:59and he’s supposed to be Roaming around the  map. Whenever your Roamer isn’t helping you,
  79. 5:03it probably means that he’s creating a numbers  advantage at other areas of the map,
  80. 5:07so as long as you don’t die, you’re  already helping yourself and your team.
  81. 5:10In a 1v1, you will have to assess the  situation and determine if you’re the
  82. 5:13stronger early game hero. Heroes such as Lesley  or Miya tend to be weaker in the early game,
  83. 5:18and will get out-damaged by other heroes, so  try to play safer with such Marksman. Trying
  84. 5:22to trade HP with the opposing Laner tends to  go badly for such heroes in the early game,
  85. 5:27and if you’re low on HP, you will not  be able to stay in the lane to farm.
  86. 5:30On the flip side, you can adopt a  “Controlled Aggression” approach,
  87. 5:33if you are the stronger early game hero. You can use your early game
  88. 5:35advantage and poke the opposing laner to  reduce their HP as low as possible. This
  89. 5:40will force them away from your minions,  which can possibly deny farm from them,
  90. 5:43or even force them to waste time recalling  back to base. If they decide to stay even
  91. 5:47when they are at low HP, you can simply  take advantage of this and finish them off.
  92. 5:51However, remember to never be OVERLY  aggressive, and be map aware at all
  93. 5:55times. Winning the lane doesn’t mean you  have to land a kill on the opposing laner,
  94. 5:59you can “win” the lane just by forcing the  enemy to recall. Killing him is simply a bonus.
  95. 6:04Don’t worry if you’re a beginner and are not  familiar with which heroes are stronger than
  96. 6:07which in the early game. It will take  you time to familiarize with the heroes,
  97. 6:11so for now, just play safely  and ensure you get your farm.
  98. 6:14There’s an advanced technique known as Lane  Freezing, which you can use to create better
  99. 6:18conditions for you to farm or setup ganks.  The idea is to refrain from hitting enemy
  100. 6:22minions (except for last hitting) so that your  minions will be killed first. This will cause
  101. 6:25the enemy minions to move further into your  lane and clash nearer to your tower. When you
  102. 6:29create such a condition, the enemy Gold  Laner will have to be deeper in the lane
  103. 6:33and be more prone to ganks if he wants to get  the farm from your minions. At the same time,
  104. 6:37you will also be closer to your tower, which makes  it a lot more difficult to gank you, and even if
  105. 6:42the enemy tries, you’re only a millisecond  away from the protection of your tower.
  106. 6:45If your minions were cleared by the enemy early,
  107. 6:47you can simply clear until the last enemy  minion is left, and then draw it to the
  108. 6:51edge of your tower range and freeze it there  until your next wave of minions clash with it.
  109. 6:55If you’re low on HP, please don’t be  greedy and continue staying in lane,
  110. 6:59especially when enemies are missing. Dying is  a lot worse than missing a couple of minions,
  111. 7:03especially if you died without clearing  the wave. It feeds the enemy 200 gold,
  112. 7:07and they can have a free license to push  your turret if your team doesn’t defend it.
  113. 7:11--- Depending on how farmed you are after 5 minutes,
  114. 7:13you can start to rotate a little with your  team and help them to deal damage during
  115. 7:16fights. But if you’re not doing that well, or  you’re using a hero that needs 3 or 4 items,
  116. 7:21it will be better to stay in lane and continue  farming up until you have more items and levels.
  117. 7:26For the Mid Game in general, continue keeping  your eye on the map and go to the lanes where
  118. 7:30there are minion waves approaching and farm up as  much as possible. Do not take high risks, such as
  119. 7:34going too far away from your tower and going too  deep into a lane. Even if you are very farmed,
  120. 7:39a 2 man gank can still easily kill you off. I see  plenty of Gold Laners do this when they’re fed,
  121. 7:44and they end up feeding the enemy  because of their overconfidence.
  122. 7:47You should never ever facecheck  unknown bushes as a Gold Laner,
  123. 7:50especially when enemies are missing.  Remember, you’re still very squishy,
  124. 7:53so even a 1 enemy ambush can finish you off in  an instant. What do I mean by facechecking and
  125. 7:58unknown bushes? Well facechecking is basically  being the first to walk into a bush, while an
  126. 8:03unknown bush is one that you had no recent vision  of. You should always allow a more tanky hero,
  127. 8:08which will usually be your team’s EXP Laner  or Roamer, to check the bushes ahead of you
  128. 8:12first. You can then follow behind them,  especially during the Mid Game onwards.
  129. 8:16During teamfights, unless you know what you’re  doing, try to position yourself near to your
  130. 8:19other teammates, so they will be assist you  if you are jumped on by the enemy team. This
  131. 8:24is crucial as the Gold Laner is usually the  highest priority target during any teamfight,
  132. 8:28and you can be sure that the enemy team  will jump on you at any opportunity.
  133. 8:32From around the 8th minute mark, teams will  generally start grouping up in 3s or more,
  134. 8:36which is when most large teamfights  happen, because that is when the Lord
  135. 8:39starts to become available. At this point, you  should never be by yourself most of the time,
  136. 8:43unless you have vision of the  enemies and you know you’re safe.
  137. 8:46The same advice applies from the Mid  Game, never facecheck unknown bushes,
  138. 8:49and always follow behind your team’s  tanks. You should still try to farm
  139. 8:52up as much as possible until you’re  about 3 to 4 damage items at least.
  140. 8:56Most of the late game for a Gold Laner will be  about sticking near to your team and staying
  141. 9:00safe until a teamfight breaks out. You are a  crucial part of your team because you are the
  142. 9:03highest damage dealer, so try to stick to them as  much as possible and participate in those fights.
  143. 9:08Never ever try to solo-push a lane unless you have
  144. 9:10clear vision of the enemies and you  know they won’t be able to reach you
  145. 9:13in time. Unless you know what you’re  doing, you should never be doing this.
  146. 9:16When a teamfight does eventually breakout,  be hyperaware of your surroundings,
  147. 9:20and try to hit priority targets, such as  the enemy Jungler, Mid Laner, or Gold Laner,
  148. 9:24as long as it doesn’t put you in a high  risk position. Otherwise, it is totally
  149. 9:28fine hitting whatever is in front of you, or  anything that your team manages to catch on.
  150. 9:32Be very aware of what skills and ultimates your  team and the enemies have used. If the enemy team
  151. 9:36has used most of their skills, it is usually  the greenlight for you to be more aggressive,
  152. 9:40especially if your team is still healthy. You can  check what ultimates are available on your team at
  153. 9:44the top of your screen. A green light on the hero  indicates that they have their ultimate available.
  154. 9:48As usual, try to never isolate  yourself from your team,
  155. 9:50as that will be the flashing green light for  the enemy team to jump on and eliminate you.
  156. 9:54Stay behind your tanks and adopt a controlled  aggression approach, you should only go beyond
  157. 9:58them when chasing enemies who have ran out of  skills and you are confident to run them down.
  158. 10:02During tower pushes, you will be the main  source of tower damage for your team,
  159. 10:05so prioritize hitting the towers,  especially if the tower is already
  160. 10:08low health. Destroying an inhibitor  turret is extremely important as it
  161. 10:12will spawn super minions on that lane which  creates natural pressure for that lane.
  162. 10:15For Emblems, Items and Battle Spells, I would  recommend joining my Discord server and checking
  163. 10:20with the community for build recommendations  as builds can change wildly for each patch. A
  164. 10:24general advice is to sacrifice some damage and  build defensive items when necessary. You do 0
  165. 10:29damage if you’re already dead, even with a full  damage build, so build items like Wind of Nature,
  166. 10:33Rose Gold Meteor, Athena’s Shield,  or Immortality when necessary.
  167. 10:37In general, try to take safer routes when solo  pathing to other lanes to avoid ambushes. Pathing
  168. 10:42through the river area alone is generally  a big nono when you have no vision of the
  169. 10:45area. The green line is the safest path to  take, while the yellow line has medium risk,
  170. 10:50and of course, the red line has the biggest risk.  It is generally best to follow the green path when
  171. 10:54you have no vision, while the yellow path is OK  if you have some vision of the enemies and need
  172. 10:58to rotate quickly. The red path should only be  taken if you have full vision of the enemies.
  173. 11:02If you’re alone in a lane defending a tower, and  there’re more than 2 enemies trying to push it,
  174. 11:06it’s best that you just give up the  tower and not risk it. If they manage
  175. 11:09to gank you and you die, the tower  will be going down anyways. I know
  176. 11:12you will feel the urge to defend your  tower, but it really isn’t worth it.
  177. 11:16Do not take the Jungle Buffs in the early  game, and leave the Jungle creeps for your
  178. 11:19Jungler especially during the first 5 minutes  of the game. This is extremely important as
  179. 11:23the Jungler will need to farm from these  monsters during this period of the game,
  180. 11:27especially the buffs. Taking the Jungle during  the early game not only slows down your Jungler,
  181. 11:31but will also slow yourself down as it takes  a long time for you to kill those monsters
  182. 11:35as well. So stick to farming your lane during  the early game. However, you can start taking
  183. 11:39the Orange Buff once you’re fed enough in the  late game, which is when you have 4 or 5 items.
  184. 11:44And for my final tip, do your best to last  hit every minion that you can throughout
  185. 11:47all phases of the game. Last hitting gives  you a lot more Gold than not last hitting,
  186. 11:51which accelerates your farm even  more if you can do it consistently.
  187. 11:54Practice makes perfect, so don’t worry  if you don’t become a master Gold Laner
  188. 11:58overnight. I know that the Mobile Legends  community can be quite toxic at times,
  189. 12:02especially in Solo-Q, but don’t worry about  the flamers and just keep keep applying what
  190. 12:06you’ve learnt from this guide and  you’ll soon master the Gold Lane.
  191. 12:09Do leave a like and comment if you found the  guide useful and would like more Guides on
  192. 12:12other roles! And as always, thank you for  watching, and I’ll see you in the next one!
