  1. 0:00see act is all about the mold crazy and
  2. 0:03fantastical and here in the North Hall I
  3. 0:06have found probably one of the wildest
  4. 0:09craziest things all over the show this
  5. 0:11is the mercedes-benz avatar concept car
  6. 0:16it actually is a ZTR or avatar for short
  7. 0:21but it stands for advanced vehicle
  8. 0:23transformation let's just take a look at
  9. 0:25this incredible piece of machinery now
  10. 0:28obviously content means that this isn't
  11. 0:29a real thing yet but it's all about
  12. 0:31sustainability so let's go into some of
  13. 0:34the elements to this wild crazy car so
  14. 0:37we take a look at some of the shapes and
  15. 0:38the lions obviously very inspired by
  16. 0:41Avatar movie all of the natural forms
  17. 0:44and this is actually a collaboration
  18. 0:46with James Cameron's avid
  19. 0:48you can see with these kind of leaf
  20. 0:50shaped seats they look very similar to
  21. 0:52those cocoons that the Navi would sleep
  22. 0:54in also inside there are a lot of cool
  23. 0:57tech elements now as you can tell there
  24. 0:59is no steering wheel inside and that's
  25. 1:02deliberate because it's self driving or
  26. 1:04autonomous there is a center control
  27. 1:07panel you can see that kind of accordion
  28. 1:09shaped seam right there that you should
  29. 1:12be looking at right now with the
  30. 1:13mercedes-benz logo on top of it now what
  31. 1:16this is it's kind of your control panels
  32. 1:18for accessing all of the cars functions
  33. 1:19you put your hand on that it will be
  34. 1:22able to read biometrics such as your
  35. 1:24heart rate and control the car
  36. 1:26accordingly also when you lift your palm
  37. 1:29up off that it will actually form
  38. 1:32projections on the palm of your hand and
  39. 1:34presumably to be able to give you some
  40. 1:36extra levels of control there's also
  41. 1:39this display this projection display
  42. 1:41that's giving you some extra information
  43. 1:42and some of the experience that is to
  44. 1:45with a baton fill man
  45. 1:49it's getting loud and bold in here
  46. 1:52because this is actually in the middle
  47. 1:54of a live demonstration of the
  48. 1:56cock-block lots of people around getting
  49. 1:59a look this is one of the hottest things
  50. 2:01here on the show floor at CES 2020 let's
  51. 2:05take a look around the back of the
  52. 2:06mercedes-benz avataan now take a look at
  53. 2:08these 30 panels of these kind of like
  54. 2:11they look almost like scales and they're
  55. 2:14reacting and responding to the
  56. 2:15environment now Mercedes says that these
  57. 2:18could be used for a number of different
  58. 2:19things like working out responses to
  59. 2:21pedestrians and things like that at the
  60. 2:24moment they just look incredibly cool
  61. 2:26this is one of the neatest things that
  62. 2:29I've seen old shirt obviously the lights
  63. 2:32and the range of motion around the back
  64. 2:35this thing can go around
  65. 2:37apparently 400 miles on one charge let's
  66. 2:40take a little closer look at the wheels
  67. 2:42cuz this is where the real exciting
  68. 2:44stuff happens as well now these wheels
  69. 2:47have been inspired by the shapes of
  70. 2:49those giant seeds from the tree in
  71. 2:51Avatar with the lights and all of the
  72. 2:54movement and you know they're not just
  73. 2:56static they actually work as wheels to
  74. 2:58you know turn but the most interesting
  75. 3:00thing about them is that they actually
  76. 3:02have more degrees of freedom so it can
  77. 3:04have like a crab-like movement and they
  78. 3:06can also rotate so the car can move not
  79. 3:08only forwards and backwards and turn but
  80. 3:09also move diagonally in sideways which
  81. 3:12is kind of neat and if you saw the
  82. 3:14Mercedes Benz
  83. 3:16press conference you would have seen
  84. 3:18this car actually moving like that it is
  85. 3:21something while to behold but just
  86. 3:23taking a look at this in real life right
  87. 3:26in front of me this is just something
  88. 3:29else now all of this is sustainable
  89. 3:30materials this is all about nature and
  90. 3:33and being at one with your environment
  91. 3:35all of these materials so this is
  92. 3:37supposed to be a color-changing carpet
  93. 3:39it's obviously not doing it at the
  94. 3:41moment but that's the concept behind it
  95. 3:43the materials are all sustainable as I
  96. 3:45mentioned there's this particular wood
  97. 3:47paneling this is actually apparently a
  98. 3:50very sustainable fairly recent wood that
  99. 3:54has been harvested from Indonesia and
  100. 3:56that's used in the flooring there as
  101. 3:59well but just this is just like amazing
  102. 4:02to look at just so many curves here the
  103. 4:05mercedes-benz Avatar concept car here at
  104. 4:09CES 2020 taking your first look at it
  105. 4:13it's dark in here it's kind of amazing
  106. 4:16to have all of these lights and
  107. 4:18everything around I'm gonna stay here a
  108. 4:20while and be at one with my car because
  109. 4:23that's the point it's all about
  110. 4:24sustainability it's all about being at
  111. 4:26one with the machine make sure to stay
  112. 4:28tuned for more from CES 2020 right after
  113. 4:32this
