  1. 0:00and they said they were happy.
  2. 0:02And then they just stopped responding to
  3. 0:04every email, call, and text for 2
  4. 0:07months.
  5. 0:08They owe me over $14,000.
  6. 0:11What do you actually do when a client
  7. 0:12just refuses to pay, and does taking
  8. 0:15them to court ever actually work?
  9. 0:18>> It does work. It's often not worth the
  10. 0:20hassle. I don't know what percentage of
  11. 0:22the total contract the $14,000 was. Um
  12. 0:25but I would say my rule of thumb in
  13. 0:27general with these types of things is I
  14. 0:28just look for the next client because
  15. 0:29the amount of total time it's going to
  16. 0:30take me um to make that money back I can
  17. 0:34make back faster just spending my time
  18. 0:36getting more customers and learning from
  19. 0:37the mistake than trying to argue and
  20. 0:39haggle at things over court because it
  21. 0:41will take significantly longer than you
  22. 0:42think. And you might not even get the
  23. 0:44amount of money that you want cuz you're
  24. 0:45not going to get the full amount no
  25. 0:46matter what, right? So it's going to be
  26. 0:47a fraction of that amount. You're going
  27. 0:47to work a lot harder for it. And so when
  28. 0:49you think about it like that, I think
  29. 0:51you learn from the mistake, which means
  30. 0:52you probably have to qualify the
  31. 0:53customers a little bit more ahead of
  32. 0:54time. And you might want to shift up
  33. 0:56your payment. So it's like I want half
  34. 0:57now, half at the halfway point rather
  35. 0:59than at point of completion.
  36. 1:00I'm going to bet right now you're going
  37. 1:01to say, "Well, people don't you know,
  38. 1:03people won't do that in my industry." I
  39. 1:04promise you people will prepay for
  40. 1:07Absolutely people will prepay for it. Um
  41. 1:10and if you need to have an a better
  42. 1:12offer to do it, you could say, "Hey, uh
  43. 1:13if you prepay, I'll uh I'll give you
  44. 1:15this guarantee. If you don't prepay, I
  45. 1:17won't give you this guarantee." Um and
  46. 1:18people are willing to prepay to have
  47. 1:21risk taken on by you. And then that way
  48. 1:23it kind of accomplishes both objectives.
  49. 1:25So you improve cash flow and they
  50. 1:26decrease risk, which is what the nature
  51. 1:27of a good offer does. If you like this
  52. 1:29video and you're a business owner who
  53. 1:30wants to break through your current
  54. 1:31revenue ceiling, I distilled every
  55. 1:32lesson from scaling 10 businesses past
  56. 1:3410 million and three businesses past 100
  57. 1:36million into a completely free scaling
  58. 1:38roadmap that I've used to go from zero
  59. 1:39to one, zero to 10, and zero to 100
  60. 1:41plus. And so you can click here and you
  61. 1:43can check it out. Again, absolutely
  62. 1:45free. And since you're a business owner,
  63. 1:46I appreciate you and uh enjoy.
