- 0:00This heart that keeps working all the time,
- 0:04We should explain it today
- 0:06So that we can understand this heart
- 0:08You appear before people in a good image
- 0:09But what is inside of your heart?
- 0:11What do you hide inside this small organ?
- 0:15Do you have the love and will of Allah?
- 0:18The quick repentance to Allah?
- 0:19Or do you hide other things?
- 0:21- How does the heart darken? - The devil knows the importance of my heart
- 0:25More than I do...
- 0:27Because he knows that if your heart is righteous...
- 0:29You'd survive him
- 0:31That's why the devil is so keen on manipulating the heart
- 0:36You seek to be righteous?
- 0:38And I do too
- 0:39What to do? we seek the reformer of the righteous
- 0:43The Prophet's most recited Dua (prayer) was...
- 0:45"O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion"
- 0:50"Work for One; that's enough for all people"
- 0:54"A good deed brings light to the face,"
- 0:58"A shine to the heart,"
- 1:01"Abundance of sustenance,"
- 1:03"Strength to the body,"
- 1:06"And the love of the others."
- 1:08How can we prepare for the day of Judgment?
- 1:10"The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children"
- 1:13"But only one who comes to Allah with a heart..."
- 1:17This isn't my first podcast...
- 1:20- I know... - Have you watched something for me before?
- 1:23Yes, I did
- 1:24- What about you? - For sure
- 1:26Of course, the episodes of Dr. Naif Nafie and others
- 1:31I also watched parts of Dr. Mutlaq's episode
- 1:33It is very nice
- 1:35- About the construction of Ka’ba - Yes
- 1:37We intended to film an episode about Hajj (Pilgrimage)
- 1:40But our discussion turned into the history of the construction of Ka’ba
- 1:46And the concepts reflected throughout the journey of its construction
- 1:50Whether during the time of Prophet Ibrahem or afterwards
- 1:54Until the Prophet -pbuh- and the Hajj rituals
- 1:58But we discovered concepts that are broader than the pilgrimage
- 2:01Turning the episode to this way....
- 2:03- Praise be to Allah - Indeed
- 2:05Thanks to Allah for the good fortune, as sometimes we'd prepare a certain discussion,
- 2:08But we wind up in a different path
- 2:10So, we seek to commit to our axes of discussion
- 2:15But because we are "Bidon Waraq"
- 2:18Feel comfortable to discuss any idea you have during the episode
- 2:23You don't need to strictly commit to our topics
- 2:26That's an excellent thing
- 2:28- So, welcome, Doctor... - Thank you
- 2:30- Welcome to Kuwait, we're honored - Thank you
- 2:32I'm happy to be with you
- 2:38- It's an honor - As your episodes are beneficial
- 2:40That have a good impact
- 2:45I ask Allah to keep your beneficiary work
- 2:47And to keep your impact in people's hearts
- 2:50And to raise your status in both lives
- 2:52- Amen - Amen
- 2:54This is out of your kindness, I always strive to meet the good expectations
- 2:58Our topic for today is very important
- 3:00Which is the topic of the heart
- 3:03The heart in Islam and as Allah had described it
- 3:07Our hearts work all the time wherever we go
- 3:10The hearts and the senses never stop working
- 3:13And our hearts reflect on our behaviors
- 3:17They reflect on how we think and behave
- 3:20So, this heart that never stops working
- 3:25We should explain it today
- 3:26So that we can understand it
- 3:29What impacts it either positively or negatively?
- 3:31And how did Allah define the human heart?
- 3:34We could begin from here, what do you think, doctor?
- 3:36How can we define the heart?
- 3:40Praise be to Allah, the lord of all creations, and peace be upon the most honorable of the Prophets
- 3:44Muhammed, his family, companions and everyone that followed them until the end of time
- 3:49I thank Allah for bringing both of us to this meeting, Sheikh Faisal
- 3:53And I thank you for your generous invitation
- 3:57And I ask Allah to guide us
- 4:03During this episode to what satisfies Him
- 4:07In fact, the topic of the discussion was interesting
- 4:13As talking about the heart is very important and crucial
- 4:20Because it can determine our success in this life and in the afterlife
- 4:25"The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children"
- 4:28"But only one who comes to Allah with a heart..."
- 4:31Notice how He didn't say "Good deeds"
- 4:34Or good appearance
- 4:37Nor a good image or looks
- 4:39Rather, with a heart
- 4:41And this heart must have a specific characteristic
- 4:45Not any heart...
- 4:46"But only one who comes to Allah with a Sound heart."
- 4:50Which brings a huge problem
- 4:52That people should ponder and think deeply about for a long time
- 4:59To see if their hearts are sound?
- 5:02And if they'd managed to achieve this goal?
- 5:05That might seem easy at first,
- 5:07But it is a crucial goal
- 5:09Is my heart sound so that I can survive in the day of Judgment?
- 5:13It seems easy
- 5:15A sound heart survives in the day of judgment
- 5:17So, how to achieve such sound heart?
- 5:20- It seems simple but is it easy? - It's a very difficult feat
- 5:25That's why Prophet Ibrahem made a prayer about it in Al-Shuara chapter
- 5:33He said "The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children"
- 5:35This is the father of the Prophets, the upright one with the pure heart
- 5:40Despite that, he always feared and reminded himself
- 5:44And argued with his people,
- 5:47He said about their idols "Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,"
- 5:52And he added "Then do you see what you have been worshipping"
- 5:55"You and your ancient forefathers?"
- 5:57"Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,"
- 6:00During this argument with them,
- 6:02He continued to argue with his people
- 6:08Talking to them about their idols and false gods
- 6:10It was a situation of intense and strong argument
- 6:16"Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,"
- 6:20Then he began introducing Allah to them
- 6:23And when he did, it was as if his heart softened
- 6:26And his soul rested
- 6:29Peace be upon him,
- 6:31He said "Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,"
- 6:33"Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me."
- 6:36"And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink."
- 6:38"And when I am ill," By myself...
- 6:40He didn't attribute this action to God
- 6:45"And when I am ill, it is He who cures me"
- 6:47"And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life"
- 6:49"And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
- 6:52Then, it seems as if he'd left them then began raising his hands in prolonged prayers...
- 6:57Praising Allah with devotion
- 7:00"My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous."
- 7:04"And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations."
- 7:06"And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure."
- 7:09"And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray."
- 7:11"And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected"
- 7:14"The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children"
- 7:16"But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
- 7:18So, this was Ibrahim, the father of the prophets, peace be upon him
- 7:22The upright that the Allah ordered our Prophet Muhammad to follow his suit
- 7:27And to follow his religion
- 7:29And to take his path
- 7:31Despite that, he said "And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected"
- 7:33He feared having a heart that isn't sound
- 7:37He feared having a heart that doesn't rescue him in the day of judgment
- 7:42May Allah protect and save us
- 7:44As the unsound heart is exposed to disgrace in the day of judgment
- 7:48"And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected"
- 7:50"The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children"
- 7:52"But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
- 7:53He made this prayer in Al-Shuara chapter, and it was answered to him in Al-Safat chapter
- 7:56"And indeed, among his kind was Abraham, when he came to his Lord with a sound heart"
- 8:00Praise be to Allah
- 8:02Now, I have a question in my mind
- 8:05The prophets feared not having a sound heart in the day of judgment
- 8:12How about the normal everyday people?
- 8:15When we hear such stories
- 8:20We must learn a lesson
- 8:21Because if the Prophet and Ibrahem -pbut- thought like this
- 8:27How about us? the simple people that sin?
- 8:31We are incomparable with the Prophets
- 8:35How can we prepare for the day of Judgment?
- 8:38This is a great matter
- 8:42It is also magnificent
- 8:44Talking about this topic is magnificent
- 8:48Because the companions, despite being who they are,
- 8:53The highest in status of the whole Ummah (Nation)
- 8:56Despite that, they feared it immensely
- 8:58Because they saw how the Prophet -pbuh- acted around them
- 9:02He used to say "O' Changer of Hearts" a lot
- 9:07The Prophet's most recited Dua was
- 9:09"O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion"
- 9:14So, Um-Salma asked him:
- 9:15Imagine, the Prophet of Allah that received the revelations
- 9:19The one that Allah had chosen as a mercy to all creations
- 9:22Our master, peace be upon him, says:
- 9:24"O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion"
- 9:28So, Um-Salama asked him "O' Prophet of Allah,
- 9:30We believed in you and in your message, do you still fear for us?"
- 9:34"Do you still fear for us?"
- 9:35Because she was confused when He recited that prayer
- 9:39So, the Prophet -pbuh- replied to her:
- 9:42"There is no heart that is not between two of the Fingers of the Most Merciful. Changing it as He wills"
- 9:47As if he'd tell her "How can I not fear for you?"
- 9:52When our hearts are between Allah's fingers, changing them
- 9:55For a certain situation to another
- 9:57Hearts change, that's why the companions...
- 10:00As in a Hadith narrated by Abu-Huraira...
- 10:06Abu-Huraira was the biggest narrator of Hadiths in the nation of Muhammed -pbuh-
- 10:13No one had narrated more hadiths than Abu-Huraira
- 10:21That's why he's the first among the seven prioritized narrators of Hadith
- 10:30Seven companions among the thousand had narrated from the Chosen one
- 10:34Abu-Huraira, Saad, Gaber, Anas
- 10:36Asmaa, Ibn-Abas and Ibn-Omar
- 10:38So, Abu-Huraira is the biggest narrator of Hadith
- 10:41He accompanied the Prophet and gather more of Him than any other companion
- 10:46Among the many Hadiths he had narrated...
- 10:52There's one that when Abu-Huraira even thinks of telling, he'd sigh and faint
- 11:00Which is?
- 11:02This Hadith narrated by Abu-Huraira
- 11:06From our Prophet -pbuh-
- 11:09In which He -pbuh- says:
- 11:11"The first three with whom the fire will be enflamed on the Day of Judgement."
- 11:15"A scholar, a reciter, and a Mujahid (fighter)"
- 11:21A scholar, a reciter, and a Mujahid?
- 11:22Which are the highest three positions in the nation
- 11:27The most people known as righteous in the nation
- 11:33As everyone seeks to...
- 11:38Have a hand in science, Quran or Jihad
- 11:42Correct...
- 11:43Despite that, those three categories
- 11:47Are the first to be enflamed with fire in the day of Judgment
- 11:51The Prophet -pbuh- said:
- 11:53"The first three with whom the fire will be enflamed on the Day of Judgement."
- 11:56"A scholar, a reciter, and a Mujahid (fighter)"
- 11:59"The scholar is brought in..."
- 12:01"Allah then says to him:"
- 12:03"For what have you learned?"
- 12:04"To which he replies: I learned and taught for you"
- 12:09"But Allah tells him: you lied"
- 12:12"And the angels tell him: you lied"
- 12:15"Rather, you learned to be called a scholar"
- 12:19A hypocrite...
- 12:20May Allah save us...
- 12:22May Allah save us
- 12:24May Allah save us.
- 12:26To be said: He worked and exerted efforts...
- 12:31For worldly aims
- 12:33For him to hear good words from others
- 12:36His intention wasn't for Allah
- 12:38His heart didn't have Allah in it
- 12:40His heart wasn't directed towards Allah
- 12:44Neither he'd worked towards Allah
- 12:45Nor he'd sought Allah's satisfaction
- 12:47So, Allah tells him...
- 12:49And you can't fool Allah
- 12:51For every scholar that acted in hypocrisy
- 12:55May Allah protect us,
- 12:56You can't fool Allah even if you'd fooled his servants
- 12:59That's why I always say, Sheikh Faisal,
- 13:02That the day of Judgment is the day of surprises
- 13:05Why? because what's in the hearts will be revealed
- 13:09Now, we see the bodies and images
- 13:12I see you, and you see me
- 13:14We see each other in a good image
- 13:17But in the day of judgment, the situation is different
- 13:19"The Day when secrets will be put on trial,"
- 13:22"Then man will have no power or any helper."
- 13:24Secrets are revealed
- 13:26What's hidden within will be shown
- 13:29What people hide will be uncovered
- 13:31That's why they say:
- 13:33"O'God, I learned and taught for you"
- 13:35But Allah answers them that "You've lied"
- 13:38And the angels repeat it "You've lied"
- 13:40"Rather, you learned to be called a scholar"
- 13:42"And so had happened"
- 13:44Then, he's pulled by his face to the hell fire
- 13:48May Allah protect us...
- 13:50May Allah save us, then the Mujahid is brought in...
- 13:52To be asked: "For what have you fought?"
- 13:54He answers: "O'God, I fought and died for you"
- 13:59But Allah tells him "You've lied"
- 14:01And the angels say: "You've lied"
- 14:02"Rather, you fought to be called brave"
- 14:05"And so had happened"
- 14:08The last phrase holds an important meaning here, Sheikh Faisal,
- 14:12What is this meaning?
- 14:14That their reputation was good in life
- 14:17Their reputation was good among everyone
- 14:22They'd describe them as scholars or brave warriors
- 14:25Or as generous givers and donors
- 14:30The satisfaction of people doesn't mean the satisfaction of Allah
- 14:33May Allah protect us,
- 14:34The satisfaction of people doesn't mean the satisfaction of Allah
- 14:37Even if they were praised across the east and the west
- 14:40This doesn't mean that Allah is satisfied with you
- 14:44As long as you have unhealed heart problems
- 14:48Even if you were praised by all creation
- 14:50And if all tongues praise you
- 14:53Believers find it as a good sign if happened...
- 14:55Believers find joy when their heart is sound
- 14:58When their intentions are purely for Allah
- 15:00With their works for Allah
- 15:02If so happened, and people began praising them
- 15:06Then, this is as the Prophet had described as "This is the glad tidings which a believer receives (in this life)"
- 15:11"The glad tidings which a believer receives"
- 15:12Which is positively received by the believer that did good deeds
- 15:16But it doesn't change his intention
- 15:17Because if it did, he'd have strayed away from the right path
- 15:21"And a scholar who did not act upon what he learned"
- 15:24"Will be tortured even before the idol worshippers"
- 15:28"A scholar who did not act upon what he learned, will be tortured even before the idol worshipers"
- 15:33As per said by scholars
- 15:34Imagine, the Buddhists, the atheists and the infidels
- 15:38And the people of oppression and tyranny
- 15:41Of all times, will all stand there
- 15:44Waiting for their judgment
- 15:46Waiting to be thrown in hell fire
- 15:48But Allah instead brings those three praised and popular categories of people
- 15:53Ordering them to stand before all humans
- 15:55And they'll be the first to be inflamed in the hell fire in the day of judgment
- 15:59Because their hearts weren't sound
- 16:02Because their direction wasn't towards Allah
- 16:05Because their destination wasn't to Allah
- 16:08So that they become an example
- 16:09That's why Abu-Huraira would sigh and faint
- 16:13As such thing forces me to always ponder in my heart
- 16:18To focus on it, fearing the entrance of any impurities that may contaminate it
- 16:27This makes me always afraid and terrified
- 16:31It makes me ignore the people
- 16:33Not caring about them
- 16:34"As Allah doesn't look at your images or bodies"
- 16:39"Rather, He looks at your hearts"
- 16:42This is where God looks.
- 16:44Allah looks at it and sees what's within it
- 16:47You might appear in a good image before people
- 16:49But what's inside of your heart?
- 16:51What do you hide in this little organ?
- 16:55Do you keep the love of Allah and quick repentance to Him?
- 16:58Or do you keep something else?
- 17:01That's why this heart...
- 17:05With few good deeds...
- 17:06When it's sound, they become many
- 17:10And when it isn't sound, even the many good deeds
- 17:14Will fade away and become useless
- 17:16That's why they say that pondering in your heart is the trade of the smart
- 17:22Pondering in your heart is the trade of the smart
- 17:24- Why so? - Why indeed?
- 17:27Because the heart...
- 17:29A person might perform only two Raka's
- 17:33With a sound heart that seeks Allah
- 17:35And those two Raka's become massive for Allah
- 17:39While others might pray many Raka's with a neglective heart
- 17:43With a heedless heart that doesn't glorify nor love Allah
- 17:47Making these Raka's worthless for Allah
- 17:50Ibn Al-Qaym told a great saying regarding this matter
- 17:54He said "Deeds aren't measured by their large quantities or many types"
- 18:00They aren't measured by their large quantities or many types, then what?
- 18:03This is how we measure the value of deeds
- 18:08How do we measure their value?
- 18:10As deeds aren't measured by their large quantities or many types
- 18:14"Rather, by what is inside the hearts"
- 18:19So, two deeds might look the same
- 18:21While the difference between them is as between the sky and earth
- 18:26So, it isn't necessary that when you perform a certain deed
- 18:29You'll be rewarded, as you aren't dealing with a machine
- 18:34Rather, with the God of all creations
- 18:36Beautiful...
- 18:38It isn't about the exterior looks
- 18:40It isn't as you'd mentioned
- 18:42It isn't a machine that responds to what you do
- 18:45You won't simply be rewarded for the good deeds
- 18:47No, what's in here is what matters
- 18:49What's inside your heart?
- 18:51What do you hide within you? in here...
- 18:54That's why the Prophet -pbuh- expressed this meaning while addressing and warning his companions
- 19:02"Piety is here"
- 19:04"Piety is here" pointing to his chest
- 19:06Repeating it three times
- 19:08"Piety is here"
- 19:09"Piety is here, piety is here"
- 19:12Never think that it's all about good looks
- 19:19As two deeds might look the same, as Ibn Al-Qaym said,
- 19:23Imagine, if I and another person stood in the same line during a prayer
- 19:29The Imam recites the same verses that we both heard
- 19:33And we recited the same prayers
- 19:35We both took the exact same time in our prayer
- 19:38But the prayer of one of us will be of more value than the other
- 19:42Why? because of what's in his heart
- 19:45Which is huge problem, Sheikh Faisal
- 19:47That people must be aware to the concept that the heart is the ruler
- 19:51The heart is what elevates or reduces the deeds
- 19:56"A Derham might be better than one hundred thousand Dirhams"
- 19:59One Dirham donated by someone
- 20:02Might be better than one hundred thousand Dirhams
- 20:04Why? because of what's in the heart
- 20:06For what's in the heart
- 20:07I'll tell you what's even greater, which is a story that I greatly admire
- 20:13We have a very delicate and beautiful story in our Sunnah
- 20:18The hero of it, if any of us sees him,
- 20:21If any of us sees the hero of this story...
- 20:24We might belittle and think less of him
- 20:26And we might think to ourselves
- 20:28If we hadn't even uttered it
- 20:30That he will never enter heaven
- 20:35The Prophet -pbuh- tells us about a person who killed 100 people
- 20:41- Killed 100 people? - Yes
- 20:44The amazing thing that before he'd killed the 100th person
- 20:47The first 99 people might have been bad people like him
- 20:54But the 100th person is a devout worshiper
- 20:59A devout worshiper
- 21:01"There was a person before you..."
- 21:04"Who had killed ninety-nine persons"
- 21:07"Then he wanted to repent"
- 21:10Praise be to Allah...
- 21:12There's nothing against repentance despite how many sins
- 21:16Which a blessing from Allah to him
- 21:20"And then made an inquiry about the learned persons of the world (who could show him the way to salvation)"
- 21:24"He was directed to a monk."
- 21:26"He came and asked him whether there was any scope for his repentance to be accepted.
- 21:30But this monk might have thought as I'd told you now
- 21:33That a person who had killed 99 people
- 21:38Then you want to repent? so he told him that "No"
- 21:41The Prophet -pbuh- then added "He killed him also and thus completed one hundred."
- 21:47Now, the 100th person was a monk
- 21:51What's amazing is that even after killing this monk
- 21:54He still sought to repent
- 21:59Then, he asked about a scholar and was directed to one
- 22:03Then he asked him "Could my repentance be accepted?"
- 22:05After killing...
- 22:06Such crime is badly perceived
- 22:09"After killing 100 persons"
- 22:12"Could his repentance be accepted?"
- 22:14The scholar then answered him "What could stop you from repentance?"
- 22:17"Go to a certain land"
- 22:19"There are people devoted to prayer and worship"
- 22:22"And you also worship along with them"
- 22:25He then immediately without any delay...
- 22:27And it seems like his heart was honest
- 22:31It seems as if what in his heart was real delicacy
- 22:37A true will to repentance
- 22:39So, he went on his way to the land which the scholar told him about
- 22:46While in the middle of the road on his way
- 22:49Death came to him
- 22:53Now, our friend here feared to be tortured
- 22:58Because he hadn't reached this land
- 23:00After the scholar told him that he must arrive to the land first
- 23:04He didn't make it, so he was afraid
- 23:06So he began, and notice this beautiful expression,
- 23:10"He crawled upon his chest (and managed) to slip in the land of mercy."
- 23:19In the midst of his death, he began crawling upon his chest
- 23:23Attempting to go there even by crawling
- 23:27Even if he'd to crawl
- 23:29Or just by pushing his chest forward
- 23:31The amazing thing is that he never made it there
- 23:35And when he died, the angels of mercy and punishment both came to him
- 23:40"And there was a dispute between the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment."
- 23:43To which he should go? the angels of punishment mean hell-fire
- 23:46While the angels of mercy mean heaven
- 23:49So, the angels of punishment said:
- 23:51"He'd killed 100 persons"
- 23:55Such crime ought to be punished by hell-fire
- 23:59But the angels of mercy said:
- 24:02"This man has come as a penitent and remorseful to Allah "
- 24:07Which is my point
- 24:10Despite what he'd committed against Allah
- 24:16But the angels of mercy saw how he sought Allah with his heart
- 24:24So, Allah revealed to them...
- 24:26That "You measure the land to which he has drawn near."
- 24:33In reality, our friend was closer to the land of evil and corruption
- 24:41But due to Allah's great blessing to him
- 24:45And due to Allah's generosity to him
- 24:47And due to Allah's mercy upon him
- 24:49Praise be to Him
- 24:50The Prophet -pbuh- said "Allah then ordered the land to get closer"
- 24:57"And the other land to get further"
- 24:59And when they measured the distance, they found him closer to the land of piety
- 25:04And with this he entered heaven
- 25:07Allah changed the laws of earth for an honest heart
- 25:12Allah changed the laws of the world for an honest heart
- 25:16The topography changed for an honest heart
- 25:20Which shows the importance of the hearts
- 25:24Hearts achieve what deeds can't
- 25:27And raise people higher in life and afterlife
- 25:32Without a lot of deeds
- 25:34The Prophet -pbuh- said "Many a person with shaggy and dusty hair,"
- 25:37"Dusty and driven away from doors"
- 25:39because of their poverty and shabby clothes
- 25:44One that people might even not notice
- 25:45Nor care about
- 25:48One that you'd want to ignore if he'd knocked on your door
- 25:52"Were to swear by Allah, Allah will certainly make it happen"
- 25:55"Were to swear by Allah, Allah will certainly make it happen"
- 25:57Why? because despite his dusty appearance, his heart is righteous
- 26:01But his heart is righteous
- 26:03That's why you might wonder
- 26:05When scholars talk about Abu-Bakr
- 26:08You find that Abu-Bakr was the best human on earth after the Prophets and Messengers
- 26:17There isn't a man in the whole world that's greater than Abu-Bakr
- 26:21Al-Bashar said "The greatest of all creations is Ahmad (Muhammed -pbuh-)"
- 26:25"Peace be upon him, the best master he is"
- 26:27"After him is Al-Khalil (Ibrahim), and One spoken-to (Musa)"
- 26:29"Then Noah and the Spirit (Esa), as they are the Messengers of strong will"
- 26:32"Then the Messengers, the Prophets, and the Angels"
- 26:35"Then The righteous Veracious (Abu Bakr), then the devoted"
- 26:38After the Prophet -pbuh- and the messengers of strong will,
- 26:41Come the Messengers, the Prophets
- 26:43Then Abu-Bakr (The veracious)
- 26:48May Allah gather us with him in heavens
- 26:51But then you don't find scholars glorifying him in worships
- 26:56As they do with other companions
- 26:58As when Jihad is mentioned, Khaled Ibn Al-Waleed is mentioned
- 27:01When Omar (Ibn Al-Khattab) is mentioned, he represents strength in Allah's religion
- 27:05Muadh (Ibn Jabal) represents knowledge
- 27:08"He most knowledgeable of them concerning the lawful and unlawful"
- 27:10When Abu-Ubaida is mentioned...
- 27:12He represents honesty, as he's the trustee of the Ummah
- 27:15And so on, while Abu-Bakr contributes to each of these types
- 27:21But he isn't prioritized in any of these types
- 27:24As much as other companions
- 27:26But Bakr Ibn-Abdullah Al-Muzani says:
- 27:29"Abu-Bakr has not preceded in the amount of fasting and prayer."
- 27:34"Abu-Bakr has not preceded in the amount of fasting and prayer."
- 27:38"But with something that was fixed in his heart"
- 27:44With something that was fixed in his heart
- 27:45"His heart was unlike any other companions'"
- 27:50That's why he will be called by each gate of the heaven
- 27:58A man that's Truely amazing
- 28:02With an amazing will
- 28:04In getting closer to Allah by following the real means towards Him
- 28:10The Prophet -pbuh- says:
- 28:13"One who is constant in Salat (prayer), will be called from the Gate of Salat"
- 28:16"And whoever is eager in fighting in the Cause of Allah, will be called from the Gate of Jihad"
- 28:19"And who is regular in observing Saum will be called from Ar-Raiyan Gate."
- 28:23Abu Bakr then said: "Will anybody be called from all of those gates?"
- 28:27To which he replied "Yes, Abu-Bakr, and I hope that you will be one of them"
- 28:31What a great tiding
- 28:33"I hope you'll be one of them" why?
- 28:34Because this man had a different heart
- 28:37He had a different heart
- 28:39"Abu-Bakr has not preceded in the amount of fasting and prayer."
- 28:43"But with something that was fixed in his heart"
- 28:44That's why the importance of the heart is so great
- 28:49Sheikh Faisal...
- 28:50May I speak with you now
- 28:53About this topic that I wanted to start with
- 28:57But we were carried to a very important point
- 29:01The Ummah now is hurt
- 29:04The Ummah is now hurt
- 29:06I ask Allah to favor our brothers in Gaza
- 29:09And to save and have mercy on them
- 29:12You see what happens to them
- 29:14And you see what the damned zionists commit against them
- 29:18I ask Allah to punish them as bad as possible
- 29:22And to enable Muslims to defeat them
- 29:24And to allow Muslims to overcome them
- 29:28The Prophet -pbuh- talks about this situation
- 29:31In which the Ummah has fallen into
- 29:35A tough situation
- 29:37A humiliating situation
- 29:39The nations have gathered upon us
- 29:41The Prophet -pbuh- says:
- 29:43"The people will soon summon one another to attack you..."
- 29:46"As people when eating invite others to share their dish."
- 29:50All nations are summoned against us
- 29:54They all cooperate against us
- 29:57They all gather and collaborate to humiliate us
- 30:05And to reduce the Muslims and to remove their presence
- 30:11Why is that?
- 30:13The Prophet -pbuh- said: "The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish."
- 30:20"Someone asked: Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?"
- 30:23Will we be too few so that can do this to us?
- 30:25Because the companions would have never accepted this
- 30:28They refuse such thing
- 30:30No one on earth could have done this to the companions
- 30:33"Will we be too few?"
- 30:36Will be exterminated and removed?
- 30:37"He replied: No, you will be numerous at that time"
- 30:40"But you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent"
- 30:43"And Allah will take fear of you from the breasts of your enemy"
- 30:46"And last enervation into your hearts."
- 30:51- So, what's the reason behind our current situation? - The hearts
- 30:56The hearts that became weak
- 31:00The enervation is the weakness and humiliation
- 31:04Hearts that aren't truly attached to Allah
- 31:07That aren't Truely honest with Allah
- 31:10That aren't Truely directed towards Allah
- 31:14And aren't truly seeking Allah's satisfaction
- 31:18"Then they asked: What's is enervation, O'Prophet of Allah?"
- 31:21"He replied: Love of the world and dislike of death."
- 31:24Love of the world and dislike of death.
- 31:26When these hearts are attached to this Dunya (life) and its desires
- 31:29To the appearances and ornaments of Dunya
- 31:34Causing them to stray away from Allah
- 31:38Because the love of Dunya and the Afterlife never gather in one heart
- 31:41Whoever is attached to Dunya, Allah will distract him from the Afterlife
- 31:44Whoever is attached to Dunya, Allah will distract him from being attached to Him
- 31:47"He replied: enervation is the love of the world and dislike of death."
- 31:50So, how can we be victors and return?
- 31:54The Prophet -pbuh- said: "You are given help and provision..."
- 32:01So, there is a way to provision
- 32:04"You are given help and provision..."
- 32:08"...because of your weak ones"
- 32:10With their sincerity
- 32:13And their Dua and prayers
- 32:18- Because of our weak ones? - Yes
- 32:20The weak ones? could you explain it a bit more?
- 32:22"You are given help and provision"
- 32:27"because of your weak ones".
- 32:29With their sincerity
- 32:31And their Dua and prayers
- 32:33The sincerity by clearing the heart from anything but Allah
- 32:38So, you and me and everyone watching us now
- 32:42If we did our best to clear our hearts from anything but Allah
- 32:47And to remove Dunya and desires and sins from our hearts
- 32:52Making our hearts sound
- 32:55Only then, the Ummah will take its way to provision
- 33:00- So, this is the solution? - It is
- 33:02And there is no solution but it even if we had the weapons of the whole world
- 33:09And even if had the might of the whole world
- 33:13If our hearts weren't attached to Allah
- 33:15I swear, we'll never prevail
- 33:18That's why, I made sure to talk about hearts in this meeting
- 33:23Because we don't realize how important and crucial this matter is
- 33:28While the companions paid a great deal of attention to it
- 33:32That's why when the companions heard during the battle of Mu'ta
- 33:37In the battle of Mu'ta
- 33:39While on their way to the battlefield
- 33:41They suddenly heard that the opposing army has almost 200,000 soldiers
- 33:46Which is an enormous number
- 33:49This shock the companions
- 33:51How many were they?
- 33:53They were around 12,000
- 33:5612,000 against almost 200,000
- 34:01Which is unimaginable
- 34:03At that time, stood among them...
- 34:08Abdullah Ibn Rawaha
- 34:11He began motivating them and said "O'people..."
- 34:14"What you hate is what you went to seek..."
- 34:18What you hate now, which is confronting the enemy
- 34:22Is exactly what you went out for
- 34:25"And we don't fight people with equipment or preparations"
- 34:28"Rather, we fight them with this religion"
- 34:31What an amazing word
- 34:33"And we don't fight people with equipment or preparations"
- 34:36"Rather, we fight them with this religion"
- 34:39That's why Qutayba Ibn-Muslim Al-Bahili, during one of his battles
- 34:42He watched his soldiers prepare for the battle
- 34:45Each one is getting prepared
- 34:48When he looked, he didn't find Muhamad Ibn Wase'
- 34:51He didn't find Muhamed Ibn-Wase'
- 34:53Where's he?
- 34:54Everyone is getting prepared and wearing their battle gear
- 34:59While Muhamed Ibn-Wase', the leader in the battle wasn't found
- 35:06So, he sent on of his men to find Muhamed Ibn Wase'
- 35:10When he searched among the army, he didn't find him
- 35:13So, he kept walking down the army until he found him alone behind the army
- 35:20Leaning on his spear and raising his finger to the sky
- 35:26Praying to Allah and asking Him to favor the Muslims
- 35:30This is how Muhamed Ibn-Wase' was like
- 35:33Leaning on his spear
- 35:35Raising his finger to the sky, praying to Allah
- 35:39When the soldier saw this, he was in awe
- 35:44Then returned to Qutayba and told him exactly what he saw
- 35:49Then, Qutayba Ibn-Muslim said to him:
- 35:52"I swear that Muhamed Ibn-Wase's finger..."
- 35:57"Is better for the army than a thousand sharp swords or strong young men"
- 36:06This finger that prayed to Allah with sincerity and submission
- 36:12Is better for Qutayba...
- 36:16Than having 1000 strong soldiers
- 36:21Or 1000 invincible weapons
- 36:26"Is better for the army than a thousand sharp swords or strong young men"
- 36:37This how they thought
- 36:38"You are given help and provision because of your weak ones".
- 36:42Meaning that any woman watching now has a great means in her hands
- 36:48- Any woman... - Watching us now
- 36:51Has a great means in her hands to favor the Ummah
- 36:55What is this means?
- 36:57It's sincerity and prayer
- 36:59By praying and repenting to Allah
- 37:04By the prayers of your weak
- 37:06And their sincerity and prayers
- 37:08By clearing the heart of anything but Allah
- 37:12Making Dua is the great weapon that we have
- 37:16I swear that it is
- 37:17Until Allah allows us
- 37:19To have the material weapons
- 37:22You mentioned the material side
- 37:24Which is exactly the point I was about to ask you
- 37:27We live today in a materialistic world
- 37:31We see it and recognize its power
- 37:36How did the 12,000 Muslim soldiers think
- 37:42Against the 200,000?
- 37:44Did they sense an external force present among them?
- 37:49But the difference between the believer heart and the one attached to the world
- 37:54How does it recognize the material power around it?
- 38:00And the person who is attached to Allah
- 38:03I'd like to know how both receive life
- 38:08Excellent, which is a question that Allah had answered
- 38:12Allah answered it in Quran
- 38:15In two verses
- 38:17Allah said: "Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power"
- 38:20"Including steeds of war,"
- 38:22"To strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies"
- 38:25Notice how Allah said...
- 38:27"To the utmost of your power"
- 38:29- Just that? - Yes
- 38:30Not a power that's equal to them...
- 38:34Nor equipment equivalent to theirs
- 38:39No, but the utmost of your power
- 38:41To strike terror into the enemies of Allah, your enemies
- 38:44So, when Muslims exert their utmost power
- 38:49While prioritizing the attachment and dependence on Allah
- 38:54Allah will favor them
- 38:56But if they just considered their numbers and equipment alone?
- 39:00Without considering the first stage which we're discussing now
- 39:03The stage of clearing the heart but from Allah with sincerity and prayers
- 39:09Allah answers to us in Al-Tawba chapter, in a great verse
- 39:14"Allah has already given you victory in many regions"
- 39:17"And [even] on the day of Hunayn, when your great number pleased you, but it did not avail you at all"
- 39:23When Muslims one day thought...
- 39:27That their numbers grew large
- 39:30And that they could never be beaten now
- 39:33One of them said "We won't be defeat because we're too few today"
- 39:37Meaning that if all Muslims now prepared all their troops and equipment
- 39:41And thought their power and numbers will grant them victory
- 39:46Allah won't favor them until they're attached to Him
- 39:49So, being attached to him is the first cause of victory
- 39:52Then come the other reasons which are important too
- 39:55And very decisive too
- 39:57Without a doubt, the matter of preparation and planning
- 40:02Is important for Muslim now
- 40:06But the first stage of the hearts must be strongly present
- 40:11When Muslims found pride in their numbers...
- 40:17It didn't help them at all
- 40:19"And the earth was confining for you with its vastness;"
- 40:21"Then you turned back, fleeing"
- 40:24Muslims were defeated at the beginning of the battle
- 40:27And they began scrambling
- 40:30They ran in every direction
- 40:32Leaving only a few people around the Prophet -pbuh-
- 40:38But the Prophet -pbuh- is the strongest believer of all creations
- 40:45And has the most obedient heart of them
- 40:48And the bravest and strongest one against enemies
- 40:54He stood up and began calling for his companions and saying "O'people of Samura, O'people of Al-Baqara"
- 41:00Then continues to assert that "I'm the prophet, no lie, I'm the son of Abdul-mutalib"
- 41:05"I'm the prophet, no lie, I'm the son of Abdul-mutalib"
- 41:08"Come to me, O'worshipers of Allah!"
- 41:10Then orders his uncle Al-Abbas
- 41:13To repeat his calling "O'people of Samura, O'people of Al-Baqara"
- 41:17Until everyone heard this calling
- 41:21"I'm the prophet, no lie, I'm the son of Abdul-mutalib"
- 41:24The narrator of the Hadith then continues that the companions began rushed to the Prophet
- 41:28Just like how cows rush to their calves
- 41:31They returned again after the Prophet had reminded them of the Quran
- 41:35After he'd reminded them of the allegiance they attributed to him
- 41:38After he'd reminded them that he's the Prophet of Allah
- 41:41And that we should only be attached to Allah
- 41:44They returned and Allah favored them afterwards
- 41:48So, those are two inseparable things, undoubtedly
- 41:51But whoever achieves more in both
- 41:54The attachment of Allah and clearing the heart to Allah
- 41:57And to cleanse the heart of anything but Allah
- 41:59If we became so, the scales will turn
- 42:03"How many a small company has overcome a large company"
- 42:06- By what? - What?
- 42:09Allah says:
- 42:11"How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah"
- 42:15Amazing, "by permission of Allah"
- 42:18Allah permitted them to win despite their small number? Yes
- 42:23They won, and Allah favored them over their enemy
- 42:29That's why Allah says in the last verse of Al-Saff:
- 42:34"O you who have believed, be supporters of Allah,"
- 42:39"As when Jesus, the son of Mary, said to the disciples, "Who are my supporters for Allah?"
- 42:43"The disciples said, "We are supporters of Allah."
- 42:46"And a faction of the Children of Israel believed and a faction disbelieved."
- 42:50"So, we supported those who believed "
- 42:54"So, we supported those who believed "
- 42:57Not those who prepared
- 42:58Not those who are well-equipped
- 43:02But "So We supported those who believed against their enemy, and they became dominant"
- 43:06So, the first step is always the faith
- 43:08The first step is to fix the heart
- 43:11And to prepare and clear it from anything but Allah
- 43:15Until Allah favors us over our enemies
- 43:18Before we talk about how to cleanse the hearts
- 43:21I'd like to talk more about the practical steps, Doctor
- 43:25And how the devil harms the heart
- 43:30So, in practice, how can a person's heart weaken?
- 43:35What can a person do to negatively affect his heart?
- 43:41Then we can talk about how to cleanse the heart
- 43:45But how does it get worse?
- 43:46In fact, Sheikh Faisal, the devil is so focused on the heart as it knows its importance
- 43:52The devil knows the importance of my heart more than me
- 43:56And knows the importance of your heart more than you
- 43:58Because it knows that if your heart was sound, you'd survive it
- 44:03"Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority"
- 44:06So, if your heart was sound, you'd survive it?
- 44:08You'd survive the devil
- 44:10That's why the devil is so keen on applying its evil on the heart
- 44:16Ibn Abbas said about the Quran verse...
- 44:19"From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil)"
- 44:23Ibn Abbas said: "The devil puts its mouth on the human's heart and whispers"
- 44:30If the human was in negligence, it whispers and when the human remembers Allah, it stops
- 44:35So, the devil is really focused on the heart
- 44:38And so keen on throwing in humans' hearts what bothers them and reduces their faith
- 44:46It whispers hatred, envy, malice, resentment, and many other heart diseases
- 44:52And if the human didn't reject them
- 44:56Nor he'd denied them
- 44:59Sadly, he'll be carried away with the devil
- 45:03And faith will be erased from his heart
- 45:06So, how does the devil whisper to the heart?
- 45:09By urging him to hate others
- 45:11And to envy others
- 45:12And to resent others
- 45:13And to be arrogant
- 45:16But if someone oppressed me, surely, I'll hate him
- 45:20How can a person differentiate?
- 45:23It's normal to hate whoever oppresses me
- 45:27Are there different types of hate?
- 45:29Or is it an entryway for the devil? I'd like to dismantle this point
- 45:32Excellent, there's a slight difference between the normal and innate anger
- 45:40And the demonic anger
- 45:43Between the normal disapproval towards someone
- 45:49Due to any type of inconvenient or hurt
- 45:53Or because of apparent and clear oppression
- 45:56Each has its limit, but to allow this anger and hatred to prolong in the heart
- 46:05Driving me to hate other in an excessive way
- 46:09Because of what he'd done
- 46:12And in order to clarify more
- 46:14The amount of hatred or anger against anyone
- 46:18If he'd clearly and undoubtedly oppressed you
- 46:20Then, it's okay
- 46:22As it is normal for people to be angry when angered
- 46:25And to be upset when hurt
- 46:27This is a normal innate feeling
- 46:30But the problem is when I escalate it
- 46:32Until my heart is filled with hate towards a large portion of people, not just him
- 46:39- Like his children, cousins or tribe... - And to hold others accountable for him
- 46:44And I reflect my hatred of him on everyone that reminds me of him
- 46:50Which might even make racist, like how if someone from a certain nationality hurt me
- 46:54Then, I'll reflect that on the whole people of his nationality
- 46:57Exactly, that's why humans must pay attention to such things
- 47:02That's why the Prophet -pbuh- said:
- 47:07"The disease of the nations before you is creeping towards you"
- 47:11"Envy and hatred"
- 47:13"Envy and hatred"
- 47:16That's why to reconcile between disputing parties
- 47:20Is a great matter to reach a sound heart
- 47:23Even lying is permitted only then
- 47:25Why is lying permitted when reconciling between disputing parties?
- 47:28Because disputes eat away the heart
- 47:31Disputes eat away the heart, what's my proof on that?
- 47:35The Prophet -pbuh- said:
- 47:37"The disease of the nations before you is creeping towards you"
- 47:40"Envy and hatred"
- 47:42"It is the Haliqah (shaver). I do not speak of what cuts the hair"
- 47:46"But what severs the religion"
- 47:50If the heart was filled with rivalries and enmities
- 47:54And envy
- 47:56And hatred towards others
- 48:00Faith is withdrawn from the heart
- 48:03Religion is completely pulled off of his heart
- 48:06It shaves it off as mentioned in the Hadith
- 48:10"May Allah have mercy on the shavers..." (repeated ×3)
- 48:14Then they asked him "And who cut it?" "And who cut it too" He added
- 48:18Shaving is removing the hair from its roots
- 48:23That's why the Prophet wanted it to be so clear to them
- 48:27I don't say it shaves the hair
- 48:29But constant rivalries and enmities...
- 48:34It doesn't shave the hair, but the religion
- 48:37That's why the Prophet -pbuh-
- 48:40Used to tell his companions: "do not nurse enmity against one another. Do not sever ties with one another."
- 48:45"Do not be jealous of one another"
- 48:48"And be brothers to one another as He commanded. "
- 48:50"And be brothers to one another as He commanded. "
- 48:53Never involve yourself with such enmities and rivalries
- 48:56So that faith isn't pulled from your heart
- 48:59Constant rivalries and enmities
- 49:01That's why we were asked to avoid arguments
- 49:04Why were asked to avoid arguments?
- 49:06Because they damage the heart
- 49:09The Prophet -pbuh- said: "I guarantee a house in Jannah for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right"
- 49:16- Even if he is in the right? - Yes
- 49:19We might have an argument, and you know you're right
- 49:21While I'm unaware of a certain thing
- 49:24So, if you decided to give up arguing with me
- 49:26In order to preserve my friendship
- 49:29In order to keep a clean heart towards your brothers
- 49:33That's why some predecessors when hearing something about their friends
- 49:37They'd ask whoever is talking to stop
- 49:41Telling them "I'd like to keep a clean heart towards my brothers"
- 49:45This might be a reason why gossiping...
- 49:48Yes, God is great
- 49:50That's why when some people told some predecessors about their others...
- 49:52"Someone is saying this about you"
- 49:56Which is a form of gossip
- 49:59To which he replied "O'brother, this person shot an arrow at me..."
- 50:03"It didn't hit me"
- 50:04"But you took it and put it in my heart"
- 50:09Meaning that he'd said a word and I didn't know about it
- 50:12I'm unaware of it
- 50:14But you took this arrow and put it in my heart
- 50:19That's why gossiper don't enter heaven
- 50:21"A backbiter will not enter Paradise" As in Al-Bukhari
- 50:24Why? because he corrupts the hearts
- 50:26It's a great deal that people practice without awareness
- 50:29That's why I told you...
- 50:32People now are unaware of the matter of the hearts
- 50:35Even if I'd known that someone spoke ill of me, I still resort to Allah
- 50:40Knowing that Allah defends the believers
- 50:44If you were spoken ill of, and accused of false things
- 50:49While if you allowed them to carry you on
- 50:53And if you sought to know them
- 50:56Your religion corrupts
- 50:58It gets corrupted
- 51:00But if you are busy with Allah
- 51:03"Work for One;"
- 51:05"that's enough for all people"
- 51:08Which is a beautiful statement
- 51:10"Work for one; that's enough for all people"
- 51:14I swear that if we honestly headed towards Allah
- 51:17And our hearts were sound for Allah
- 51:19And cleansed for Allah
- 51:22Allah will certainly take care of anything that bothers or hurts us
- 51:28Or anything that might tire or anger us
- 51:34If we headed towards Allah
- 51:36That's why the Prophet -pbuh- said:’ "O you who accepted Islam with his tongue,"
- 51:41"While faith has not reached his heart!"
- 51:43Be cautious and have some faith, people...
- 51:46And allow this faith into your hearts
- 51:47"Do not harm the Muslims"
- 51:52"Nor revile them, nor spy on them to expose their secrets"
- 51:55"For indeed whoever tries to expose his Muslims brother’s secrets, "
- 51:58"Allah exposes his secrets wide open, even if he were in the depth of his house"
- 52:03- Even in the depth of his house? - May Allah protect us
- 52:06So, the matter is crucial now, which is what?
- 52:09That humans must pay attention to their hearts
- 52:12And how "The disease of the nations before you is creeping towards you"
- 52:17What is it? "Envy and hatred"
- 52:19It severs the religion
- 52:22It severs the religion
- 52:24May Allah protect us
- 52:26They say...
- 52:28If you find Allah, what would you lose? And if you lose Allah, what would you find?
- 52:32I always try to remember this to help me sometimes
- 52:37I think if people always asked it to themselves
- 52:42They'll begin to wonder and see the truth
- 52:48Everything is lost without Allah
- 52:50The companions had something...
- 52:52Like a sensor that constantly monitored this matter
- 52:55How is my heart now with Allah?
- 52:58Is it sound? or is it not?
- 53:01Because they know that if they'd lost Allah
- 53:04They'd have lost everything
- 53:06To lose Allah, is to lose everything as you'd said
- 53:10Ibn Al-Qayem said: "Everything can be replaced if lost"
- 53:14"Except for Allah, nothing replaces Him"
- 53:17"Everything can be replaced if lost"
- 53:20"Except for Allah, nothing replaces Him"
- 53:23As like with a predecessor that whenever he felt some stiffness in his heart
- 53:29So, he went out on the street to find something that brings him back
- 53:35Maybe a brother that reminds him of Allah
- 53:36Or a gathering of religion or virtue
- 53:39Or a mosque in which he can pray to Allah
- 53:42He went out and found a woman that had hit her child
- 53:49Which angered the child
- 53:52And left the house
- 53:55And the mother shut the door behind him
- 54:00The child took a few steps outside
- 54:03Then stopped
- 54:05Then looked to his right and found no one
- 54:08And to the left and found no one
- 54:11So, he returned to the door of his mother
- 54:13Then sat before it
- 54:15And began saying "O'mother, who shelters me if you didn't?"
- 54:21"Who shows me mercy if not you?"
- 54:24"Who shows me compassion if not you?"
- 54:27So, the mother opened the door while crying
- 54:30She hugged him and said "I shelter you"
- 54:34"I shelter you, I show you mercy and compassion"
- 54:39The mother said so while crying after opening the door
- 54:45The man then returned and said "Now, I've found my heart"
- 54:49After seeing this moving scene
- 54:53"Now, I've found my heart"
- 54:55Because he knew his only solution was to sit before Allah
- 54:59Praying to him: "Who can fix my heart if not you?"
- 55:04"Who shelter me if not you? Who shows me mercy if not you?”
- 55:08"Who appeases me if not you?"
- 55:11Praise be to Allah, that's why when Hanzala went through the same thing
- 55:18The matter of the condition of my heart
- 55:21When Hanzala felt that faith slightly reduced in his heart
- 55:26He went on the street searching for what to do
- 55:29He kept walking until he found Abu-Bakr
- 55:31So, he asked him, as Abu-Bakr is the closest person to the Prophet
- 55:34He told him "Abu-Hanzala is a hypocrite..."
- 55:38I've become a hypocrite
- 55:40They fear hypocrisy and the change of their hearts
- 55:44The fear of reduction of faith
- 55:46"What's happening, Hanzala?" He replied to him
- 55:48"O' Abu-Bakr, when we are with the Prophet of Allah..."
- 55:51"He reminds us of the heaven and hell until we almost see them"
- 55:56As if we see them
- 55:58Which shows how the Prophet had used to preach
- 56:01And how he'd reminded his companions
- 56:05Then he adds "But when we leave him..."
- 56:08"And we begin handling our children, wives and works"
- 56:12"We forget a lot"
- 56:14We aren't in the same state of faith
- 56:16Which is hypocrisy
- 56:18And because Abu-Bakr was also fearful for his heart
- 56:20He became scared
- 56:23He said "I swear, Hanzala, I feel the same as you"
- 56:26"I swear, I feel the same as you"
- 56:29"Let's go to the Prophet of Allah"
- 56:32And so, they went to the Prophet -pbuh-
- 56:36And they told him how they can almost see the heaven and hell when he preached to them
- 56:41But when they return and get busy, they forget a lot
- 56:46To which the Prophet -pbuh- replied to them
- 56:49"O'Hanzala, if you stay like how, you are with me"
- 56:54"The angels would have greeted you on the streets"
- 56:56"But allow yourself sometime of both"
- 56:58The Dunya is essential
- 57:00You must work hard and earn Halal money
- 57:02You must handle your children and spouses
- 57:08But you must also allow the time to increase your faith
- 57:12The time in which you protect your heart
- 57:14And your religion, and the level of faith in your heart
- 57:19So that if it was reduced, you must seek a gathering of religion or virtue
- 57:23Or to good friends, or to prayers and Dua
- 57:27And to worship Allah, with prayers and long kneeling
- 57:30And the things that renew one's faith
- 57:34What's the importance of praying on time?
- 57:36It's very important, not only prayers
- 57:39Because according to the idea, and in order not to be overwhelmed with the world
- 57:46It's important to keep prayers on time
- 57:49As how many people could be lenient with this
- 57:52"We could pray in an hour"
- 57:53But why is this structure important so that you don't lose your heart
- 57:59Through which you could move in other areas too
- 58:03Prayers are called by Allah as faith
- 58:06And I've had a previous episode about prayers
- 58:09May people look it up
- 58:12Which is important regarding that meaning
- 58:15Prayers are the same as faith, they increase faith in the heart
- 58:20And you just turned my attention to a very important concept
- 58:25That if you ponder at the times of the prayers
- 58:29How do you find them?
- 58:32You find that prayers are intensified during the busiest times of the day
- 58:36So that you never forget Allah
- 58:38And that your faith isn't reduced
- 58:40As once you get busy with the world, the prayer of Al-Dhuhr comes
- 58:44Once you leave the house at 10 or 11, soon comes the time of Al-Dhuhr prayer at noon
- 58:48And after two more hours, the time of Al-Asr prayer comes
- 58:51And the same before Al-Maghrib prater
- 58:53Then Al-Isha'a prayer
- 58:54So, it is as if the prayers have a grip over your day
- 58:59So that your faith isn't reduced in your heart
- 59:01Which is what I sought to ask you about
- 59:03As you'd said, when Abu-Bakr and Hanzala went to the Prophet -pbuh-
- 59:10He told them that they must still engage with this worldly life
- 59:14With your children, works and responsibility
- 59:18But they feared to forget about their faith
- 59:21And I mean that if people could ponder in prayers
- 59:25We could consider that prayers are a tool, in addition to it being a type of worship to Allah
- 59:30But it also protects the heart when performed in such order and intention
- 59:35Then, I think it could help anyone to protect himself
- 59:40Undoubtedly, it is the best thing to protect the heart
- 59:43The greatest thing that helps a believer keep his heart
- 59:46Nothing is greater than it, Sheikh Faisal
- 59:48We could talk about attending lessons or gatherings of virtue
- 59:53Or about reading a book
- 59:55Because some people think they don't need to pray as long as their heart is sound
- 59:58Which might be whispered to them by the devil
- 1:00:01"As long as your heart is sound and you're a good person"
- 1:00:05"Then, you don't need to pray"
- 1:00:07This is how the devil can sneak in from
- 1:00:10Which is a common misconception for some people
- 1:00:13"Since I have a good heart"
- 1:00:15"Other things are mere practices"
- 1:00:18But there's a connection between prayers and protecting the heart
- 1:00:22Such as the tools that through which we worship Allah
- 1:00:25Even through the supererogatory prayers too
- 1:00:30They bring us closer to Allah and fix our hearts
- 1:00:34If we understood how to perform them
- 1:00:36This is my point
- 1:00:37It's true, which is a misconception for some people
- 1:00:41They might waste or become lenient
- 1:00:47Getting busy with the worldly desires and sins
- 1:00:52Yet think they have a sound heart and don't need prayers
- 1:00:55Which is absolute delusion
- 1:00:57This is one of the greatest tricks of the devil
- 1:01:01Because neglecting just one mandatory prayer could perish the heart
- 1:01:07Haven't you heard the Prophet's Hadith:
- 1:01:09"He who leaves the Friday prayer for three Fridays on account of slackness, Allah will print a stamp on his heart."
- 1:01:13There's a tight link between types of worship and the heart
- 1:01:17They influence and benefit the heart
- 1:01:19"Faith will be worn out in the body of one of you just as clothes are worn out"
- 1:01:23Because the nature of faith is reduction over time
- 1:01:27So, we must always keep raising its level
- 1:01:31As the Prophet -pbuh- had said:
- 1:01:34"Renew faith in your hearts"
- 1:01:36So, renew faith in your hearts
- 1:01:38Renew it with worshiping Allah and getting closer to Him
- 1:01:43By heading towards Allah
- 1:01:45A man complained to Um Al-Darda' about stiffness in his heart
- 1:01:49So, she replied to him that: "Your disease is the hardest disease"
- 1:01:53Complained that he finds stiffness in his heart
- 1:01:56To which she replied "Your disease is the hardest, go visit the ill"
- 1:02:00"Follow the funerals, and visit the graves"
- 1:02:04Visit the ill, follow the funerals and visit the graves
- 1:02:09And so, he did,
- 1:02:11And he managed to soften his heart again
- 1:02:13So, he went back to Um Al-Darda' thanking her
- 1:02:16Now, there's nothing called...
- 1:02:20For the matter of neglecting worships
- 1:02:23It causes the heart to darken
- 1:02:26The immersion in sins
- 1:02:29Causes the heart to darken
- 1:02:30It is impossible...
- 1:02:33For a person immersed in sins to have a sound heart
- 1:02:38Ibn Abbas said:
- 1:02:42Listen carefully to these dangerous words...
- 1:02:45Ibn Abbas said:
- 1:02:48"A good deed brings light to the face,"
- 1:02:53"A shine to the heart,"
- 1:02:55"Abundance of sustenance,"
- 1:02:58"Strength to the body,"
- 1:03:00"And the love of others."
- 1:03:02"While sins blacken the face,"
- 1:03:07"Darken the heart,"
- 1:03:09"Shorten the sustenance,"
- 1:03:10"Weakness to the body"
- 1:03:12"And the hatred of others"
- 1:03:17Which is crucially important
- 1:03:20When people don't realize these things
- 1:03:22"A good deed brings light to the face,"
- 1:03:25It brightens the face
- 1:03:26"A shine to the heart,"
- 1:03:29It illuminates the heart
- 1:03:31"Strength to the body,"
- 1:03:33"Abundance of sustenance, and the love of others."
- 1:03:36People will love him
- 1:03:38Because he worships Allah with sincerity in secrecy
- 1:03:41That's why Allah makes people love him
- 1:03:45You'll find that people love him without knowing why
- 1:03:49You'll find people approaching him without know why
- 1:03:51Why do they easily feel familiar around him?
- 1:03:54Why do they love him so much?
- 1:03:59It's a grace by Allah
- 1:04:00And because of his worship to Allah
- 1:04:03"While sins blacken the face,"
- 1:04:06"Darken the heart,"
- 1:04:09"Shorten the sustenance,"
- 1:04:10May Allah protect us
- 1:04:12"Weakness to the body and the hatred of others"
- 1:04:16People repel from him and don't like him
- 1:04:20Sins perish and darken the heart
- 1:04:24They hurt and tire it
- 1:04:26There's a Hadith that's a pillar regarding this topic
- 1:04:29There's a Hadith that's a rule in the topic of hearts
- 1:04:32The hearts which we are talking about now
- 1:04:35Two Hadiths are essential regarding them
- 1:04:39The greatest of them is the one narrated by Al-Numan Ibn Bashier in Al-Bukhari and Muslim
- 1:04:44"In the body there is a piece of flesh, "
- 1:04:48"And the whole body is sound if it is sound,"
- 1:04:51So, the sound exterior is linked to the sound interior
- 1:04:56Salman Al-Farsi said: "Whoever fixes his interior..."
- 1:05:00"Allah fixes his exterior"
- 1:05:03What does it mean to fix one's interior?
- 1:05:05- The heart - Yes
- 1:05:07Allah fixes his exterior, which is his external matters
- 1:05:11That's why the Prophet says in this important Hadith:
- 1:05:14Narrated by Al-Numan in Bukhari and Muslim
- 1:05:16"What is lawful is clear and what is unlawful is clear,"
- 1:05:18"But between them are certain doubtful things"
- 1:05:21"He who guards against doubtful things keeps his religion and his honor blameless,"
- 1:05:24"But he who falls into doubtful things falls into what is unlawful,"
- 1:05:26"Just as a shepherd who pastures his animals round a preserve will soon pasture them in it."
- 1:05:29"Every king has a preserve,"
- 1:05:30"And God’s preserve is the things He has declared unlawful."
- 1:05:32"In the body there is a piece of flesh,"
- 1:05:35The use of the word flesh here is to downplay it
- 1:05:37Because of how small and little it is
- 1:05:40But it controls all the body
- 1:05:43Because it's what controls and orders the body
- 1:05:50It's the king, with the organs as its servants
- 1:05:54So, the heart for the worshipper in the world is his means and pride
- 1:05:59And in the afterlife, is his protection and sustenance
- 1:06:03It's his means and pride in the world
- 1:06:05And his protection and sustenance in the afterlife
- 1:06:07On which he'll be held accountable, and with which he'll be scaled
- 1:06:09He'll be scaled according to the faith in his heart
- 1:06:12"In the body there is a piece of flesh, and the whole body is sound if it is sound"
- 1:06:15"But the whole body is corrupt if it is corrupt."
- 1:06:17"It is the heart.”
- 1:06:18Now, the second Hadith regarding the topic of hearts is a beautiful one
- 1:06:23The Prophet -pbuh- said about who exposes himself to desires
- 1:06:27And to sins and transgressions
- 1:06:30Then at the end claims...
- 1:06:32That his heart is sound
- 1:06:33You're fooling yourself!
- 1:06:35And lying to it
- 1:06:37For whoever neglects mandatory prayers
- 1:06:38And wastes the limitations of Allah
- 1:06:41For those who disobey Allah's orders
- 1:06:43All while ignoring and neglecting their hearts
- 1:06:49Those are in a great danger
- 1:06:51They should be warned
- 1:06:54And activate the emergency measures
- 1:06:58You're in a great danger
- 1:07:00The Prophet -pbuh- said:
- 1:07:02"Temptations will be presented to men's hearts"
- 1:07:07"As reed mat is woven stick by stick"
- 1:07:10To all of our hearts
- 1:07:12My heart and yours are constantly presented to temptations
- 1:07:16One by one...
- 1:07:19Or in some narrations "Repeatedly"
- 1:07:22Meaning they keep coming and going
- 1:07:25Why? so that Allah tests our hearts
- 1:07:28You might be tempted to see a Haram thing
- 1:07:31Or tempted to sit in a gossip gathering
- 1:07:36Or to hear a bad word
- 1:07:39Temptations might hit you
- 1:07:43Whatever they were
- 1:07:44What will you do regarding them?
- 1:07:46"Temptations will be presented to men's hearts as reed mat is woven stick by stick"
- 1:07:49"And any heart which is impregnated by them"
- 1:07:53"Will have a black mark put into it,"
- 1:07:58"But any heart which rejects them will have a white mark put in it."
- 1:08:05"The result is that there will become two types of hearts: "
- 1:08:08"One white like a white stone"
- 1:08:11"Which will not be harmed by any turmoil or temptation, so long as the heavens and the earth endure; "
- 1:08:14"And the other black and dust-colored like a vessel which is upset,"
- 1:08:18"Not recognizing what is good or rejecting what is abominable, but being impregnated with passion."
- 1:08:23What does it mean?
- 1:08:24What is a heart white like stone?
- 1:08:26A heart by fighting off sins and sheltering from them
- 1:08:31A heart that protected itself from sins and their places
- 1:08:36And kept away from those who remind him with sins
- 1:08:39And those who drive him to them
- 1:08:41Or help him to them
- 1:08:43Stayed away from all of this
- 1:08:46This is how a heart denies sins
- 1:08:49This heart becomes white like stone, unharmed by temptations
- 1:08:52Which later on becomes immune
- 1:08:55With which he can fight off sins and temptations
- 1:08:58Nor he'll enjoy sins
- 1:08:59Nor he'll be tempted to sin
- 1:09:03No, his soul is now at peace
- 1:09:06And these are the levels of heart cleansing, Sheikh Faisal
- 1:09:09Hearts are cleansed when temptations are presented to us
- 1:09:12But we reject and repel them with determination
- 1:09:17Until we achieve this level of heart strength and purity
- 1:09:24But the other type of hearts...
- 1:09:28That easily accepts temptations
- 1:09:31He looks to what's Haram
- 1:09:34He listens to what's Haram
- 1:09:37He sits in gossip gatherings
- 1:09:42He doesn't care about what might reduce his faith
- 1:09:47Until his heart becomes black
- 1:09:49He said "black and dust-colored"
- 1:09:51Showing how immensely dark it is
- 1:09:53Very dark
- 1:09:55"Like a vessel which is upset" or a flipped cup
- 1:09:59If this cup right here...
- 1:10:01If it was empty, I'd have used it as an example
- 1:10:04But it's full
- 1:10:06If I were to flip this cup upside down
- 1:10:09Then I attempted to pour coffee in it
- 1:10:12While coffee fill it when it's upside-down?
- 1:10:15It's impossible
- 1:10:17"Like a vessel which is upset", or like an upside-down cup
- 1:10:24It won't accept any faith to be added to it
- 1:10:26Nor accept any love for Allah
- 1:10:29Nor any type of worship
- 1:10:32Nor responds to any type of advice
- 1:10:34"If a heart dies, advice won't help it"
- 1:10:37"Like a heathland, rain doesn't help it"
- 1:10:41"If a heart dies, advice won't help it"
- 1:10:43"Like a heathland, rain doesn't help it"
- 1:10:45This is how he'll become, doesn't respond to advice
- 1:10:48Doesn't get pushed to virtue
- 1:10:50Doesn't get warned when you warn him
- 1:10:55"Like a vessel which is upset, not recognizing what is good"
- 1:10:58"Nor rejecting what is abominable," So, how does it work then?
- 1:11:01"But being impregnated with passion"
- 1:11:03His pleasure
- 1:11:05He does what he pleases
- 1:11:08She pleases to dress immodestly, and she does
- 1:11:10He wants to hear what's Haram, and he does
- 1:11:13He wants to have Haram relations, and he does
- 1:11:17But where's your heart?
- 1:11:18You are perishing your heart
- 1:11:20You're Pershing your heart
- 1:11:22You don't know the value of your God
- 1:11:24You don't want to cleanse your heart for Allah
- 1:11:26Ibn Al-Qayem says such beautiful words, Sheikh Faisal
- 1:11:30Such beautiful words
- 1:11:32Ibn Al-Qayem says "One of the most wonderous things is to know Allah and not love Him"
- 1:11:39"One of the most wonderous things is to know Allah and not love Him"
- 1:11:43"And to hear His calls, then delay your answer"
- 1:11:48"And to know the profit in dealing with Him, then deal with others"
- 1:11:53"And to realize the amount of His anger, then still expose yourself to it"
- 1:11:57"And to taste the pain of sinning against Him..."
- 1:12:01"Then you don't seek refuge in worshiping Him"
- 1:12:04Such wonderful words should be written with gems
- 1:12:07Written with gold-water
- 1:12:10"One of the most wonderous things is to know Allah and not love Him"
- 1:12:15"And to hear His calls, then delay your answer"
- 1:12:19"And to know the profit in dealing with Him, then deal with others"
- 1:12:24"And to realize the amount of His anger, then still expose yourself to it"
- 1:12:27"And to taste the pain of sinning against Him..."
- 1:12:30"The pain of sinning against Him..."
- 1:12:33"Then you don't seek refuge in worshiping Him"
- 1:12:35This man that doesn't purify his heart
- 1:12:39Nor seeks to cleanse himself of sins and mischiefs
- 1:12:44Such person loses the greatest pleasure in this life
- 1:12:48He lost the greatest pleasures of life
- 1:12:50A man came to Ibn Al-Qayem and told him that he finds dreariness in his heart
- 1:12:55I no longer enjoy worships as I used to
- 1:12:59I no longer find the beauty of God's remembrance as before
- 1:13:03I no longer taste the joy of Dua as before
- 1:13:09"I find dreariness in my heart, what to do?"
- 1:13:13To him, Ibn Al-Qayem replied "If you enjoy sins..."
- 1:13:17"Then, abandon them and find joy"
- 1:13:20Because committing sins forbids the person from heart purification
- 1:13:24It forbids him from attaching to Allah
- 1:13:27It forbids him from the pleasure of worship
- 1:13:30It forbids him from the joy of obedience
- 1:13:33It weighs on him
- 1:13:35So, when you later on ask him to do something
- 1:13:37He replies that he's tired
- 1:13:40"Let's pray at night?", but he replies that he's tired and should sleep
- 1:13:43Let's enjoy two Raka's in the deep night...
- 1:13:47Which worshipers used to find joy in
- 1:13:49Which they considered as their best pleasure
- 1:13:54As Abu-Suliman Al-Darani said:
- 1:13:58"The night worshipers find more joy than the night amusement seekers"
- 1:14:02"We have a pleasure that if Kings knew about, they'd have whipped us with swords"
- 1:14:10"Earth has a heaven, whoever hasn't entered it will not enter the heaven of the afterlife"
- 1:14:14Where do you stand from such pleasures?
- 1:14:16- Where are you? - That's for people with higher levels of belief
- 1:14:19With high levels of heart purity
- 1:14:22But I'd like to go back to the person who...
- 1:14:27As in a previous episode with Dr. Jaser...
- 1:14:30He talked about characters that when listen to Dua
- 1:14:34Their hearts don't move
- 1:14:36They don't feel the Dua
- 1:14:38And they don't feel their prayers
- 1:14:42While they might want to reach this level of pleasure
- 1:14:46With Dua and prayers and to pray at night
- 1:14:50And we'd like to discuss this position in which they are
- 1:14:53As there's a large portion of people...
- 1:14:56That want to feel more and get closer to Allah
- 1:15:00Where's the path to that? what can I do?
- 1:15:03While since we wake up until we sleep
- 1:15:05I'm attempting to reverse what you'd mentioned in a practical example
- 1:15:11We are exposed to temptations
- 1:15:13So, we either resist such temptations all day long
- 1:15:20Or we accept them
- 1:15:22So, I'd like now to move from the heart
- 1:15:26Before talking about the black heart
- 1:15:30Which isn't just detached from Allah
- 1:15:33It's cowardly
- 1:15:35Meaning that there are even worldly things...
- 1:15:38In which they might think they're winning, but in reality, they aren't
- 1:15:41So, they've lost the world and the afterlife
- 1:15:43Leading them live in anxiety
- 1:15:45So, being attached to such materialistic things
- 1:15:49This is regarding the religious things
- 1:15:54Which might not be so clear
- 1:15:56But such people don't win even in this world
- 1:15:59That's right, the people of the world are poor, as said by Ibrahim Al-Adham
- 1:16:04I swear, they're poor people, Sheikh Faisal
- 1:16:06So, if we haven't tasted this pleasure
- 1:16:12What pleasure could ever come close to it?
- 1:16:16"The people of the world are poor, they lived and never enjoyed the best of it"
- 1:16:21"What's the best of it?" they asked
- 1:16:22He said "Remembrance of Allah and finding joy with Him"
- 1:16:26"And finding joy with Him"
- 1:16:28I swear by Allah (twice)
- 1:16:30Nothing in this world is more pleasurable than a heart attached to Allah
- 1:16:35And the refuge to Allah
- 1:16:39The greatest thing in the world is the longing to Allah
- 1:16:42And the greatest thing in the afterlife is seeing the face of Allah
- 1:16:46These aren't my words, but Ibn Al-Qayem's
- 1:16:48He said "The greatest thing in the world is the longing to Allah"
- 1:16:51"And the greatest thing in the afterlife is seeing the face of Allah"
- 1:16:57Ibn Al-Qayem said: "Nothing in this world is more pleasurable than longing to Allah"
- 1:17:03"And seeing His face"
- 1:17:05"Those are the greatest graces for a man"
- 1:17:09"Nothing in this world is more pleasurable than longing to Allah"
- 1:17:13"And seeing His face"
- 1:17:16"Those are the greatest graces for a man"
- 1:17:18But when Ran (filth) covers the hearts
- 1:17:21Appealing them to this world, busy with sins and pleasures
- 1:17:28They will never find this pleasure
- 1:17:30They've lost the greatest pleasure in life
- 1:17:33Ibn Al-Qayem said: "I swear by Allah..."
- 1:17:36"If hearts were sound,"
- 1:17:38"They'd have been torn with sorrow"
- 1:17:42"If hearts were sound, they’d have been torn with sorrow"
- 1:17:47"But they're drunken in the love of this Dunya world"
- 1:17:51"And they'll eventually be awakened"
- 1:17:54"But they're drunken in the love of this Dunya world"
- 1:17:57"And they'll eventually be awakened"
- 1:17:59Yehia Ibn Muath said: "Dunya is the wine of the devil"
- 1:18:03"Who drinks from it, will awaken only with regret"
- 1:18:07"Among the camp of the neglective dead"
- 1:18:10Whoever immerses himself in the pleasures and temptations of this Dunya
- 1:18:16Seeking to find wealth in it
- 1:18:19Focuses only on the prestige
- 1:18:21Focuses only on the position
- 1:18:22Focuses only the adornment and splendor of the world
- 1:18:27When will he ever seek joy in Allah?
- 1:18:30Such person won't awaken until he's being held accountable between the hands of Allah
- 1:18:35After he'd wasted the real pleasure and beauty of life in the obedience of Allah
- 1:18:42And wasted the afterlife and wasn't among the safe ones
- 1:18:45And will never see the face of God
- 1:18:47I swear, if men knew that by not fixing their heart
- 1:18:52They waste such chance
- 1:18:54Such thing should be enough to melt their hearts
- 1:19:00It should devastate them
- 1:19:03When knowing that they might not be allowed to see the face of God in the afterlife
- 1:19:07How will they be not allowed?
- 1:19:08When sins accumulate on the heart
- 1:19:11They create Ran (filth) on the heart
- 1:19:14The Prophet -pbuh- said:
- 1:19:16"Verily, when the slave (of Allah) commits a sin,"
- 1:19:20"a black spot appears on his heart."
- 1:19:22"When he refrains from it, seeks forgiveness and repents, his heart is polished clean."
- 1:19:26"But if he returns, it increases until it covers his entire heart. And that is the ‘Ran’"
- 1:19:31"Which Allah mentioned in Quran:"
- 1:19:34"Nay, but on their hearts is the Ran which they used to earn"
- 1:19:37So, repeated sins...
- 1:19:39Create the Ran over the heart
- 1:19:41Create a coat of filth and muck over the heart
- 1:19:46This is the Ran
- 1:19:49It blocks the person from seeing Allah's face in the day of judgment
- 1:19:54Consider it as you wish...
- 1:19:56Not being allowed to see the face of Allah in the day of judgment
- 1:19:59Allah said: "Nay, but on their hearts is the Ran which they used to earn"
- 1:20:04Then immediately: "No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned."
- 1:20:12So, if you think about this, may Allah protect us,
- 1:20:16If you think about a person...
- 1:20:18That might be forbidden from seeing the face of Allah
- 1:20:21Because of his sins
- 1:20:23These should be the harshest words for them to hear
- 1:20:28And should never allow this
- 1:20:29Just this reason is enough for people to quit all their sins and repent to Allah
- 1:20:35And to prepare this heart to see the face of God in the day of judgment
- 1:20:39"Nothing in this world is more pleasurable than longing to Allah"
- 1:20:44"And seeing His face, those are the greatest graces for a man"
- 1:20:49Allah says as in the Hadith
- 1:20:51To the Muslim in heaven on the day of Judgment:
- 1:20:53"O' my servants, are you pleased?"
- 1:20:56They will reply: 'Why should we not be pleased, O' God"
- 1:20:58"When You have given us what You have not given to any of Your creatures?"
- 1:21:06"Allah will say: "
- 1:21:08"Shall I not give you something better than that?"
- 1:21:12"They will ask: 'O God! What can be better than that?"
- 1:21:15What is better than the heaven?
- 1:21:17And better than surviving hell-fire?
- 1:21:20Then, the cover is unveiled
- 1:21:23Which nothing will be more pleasing for the believer's hearts
- 1:21:28Than seeing the face of their God
- 1:21:33Even in the heaven, nothing is more pleasing for the believers...
- 1:21:38And to the hearts...
- 1:21:41And softer to their souls...
- 1:21:43Than seeing the face of their God
- 1:21:45Which is the greatest thing
- 1:21:47May Allah grace us with it
- 1:21:50"O' you who replace all of this, with quick cheap profits"
- 1:21:53"As if you don't know, but you will..."
- 1:21:56"If you don't know, it's a disaster."
- 1:21:58But if you do, it is a greater disaster"
- 1:22:01I'd like to talk about how to fix the heart, Doctor
- 1:22:06We all have read in the beginning of Al-Baqara
- 1:22:11Allah says: "In their hearts is disease, so Allah has increased their disease"
- 1:22:15So, some people have diseases in their hearts
- 1:22:19And want to get rid of it
- 1:22:21I don't think that any Muslim person around
- 1:22:24Wouldn't want to get rid of these desires
- 1:22:27And to become stronger than them
- 1:22:29And to find peace with your religion
- 1:22:33And to get even closer to Allah
- 1:22:37No one will refuse this
- 1:22:40Everyone wants this, but...
- 1:22:42We'd like to know about the path that the Prophet -pbuh- spoke about
- 1:22:48And let's mention evidence from Quran
- 1:22:51Through which we can know the correct path the Muslims should follow
- 1:22:57An excellent question that's important after talking about the dangers of the ill heart
- 1:23:05And the corrupt or neglective hearts
- 1:23:07The importance of achieving a sound heart
- 1:23:09How can we achieve a sound heart?
- 1:23:12How to seek and achieve the purity and cleanness of the heart?
- 1:23:20Because this is the greatest destination for a believer
- 1:23:25Even before worshiping
- 1:23:27I want to tell you, Sheikh Faisal,
- 1:23:30That Prayer was made obligatory during the Night Journey and Ascension after years of Prophet's mission
- 1:23:37Fasting and Zakat were issued 15 years after the mission of the Prophet
- 1:23:45And Hajj is even later on
- 1:23:47But the purification of heart was since the first year
- 1:23:51Or even the first days
- 1:23:53When Allah said: "O you who covers himself [with a garment]"
- 1:23:56"Arise and warn, and your Lord glorify"
- 1:23:59"And your clothing purify"
- 1:24:01Ibn Al-Qayem and the majority of interpreters across all ages agree...
- 1:24:10That clothing here refers to the heart
- 1:24:15"And your clothing purify"
- 1:24:17Don't neglect your heart, purify it
- 1:24:20If we ask, what is the ruling on learning things that purify the heart?
- 1:24:26It is an individual obligation upon every person
- 1:24:31An individual obligation upon every person to learn how to protect his heart
- 1:24:35"Protection of hearts from the devil, is an individual obligation upon every man"
- 1:24:40As said by a Shenqiti follower:
- 1:24:42He wrote a long poem about the individual obligations upon each Muslim
- 1:24:49Among which he mentioned learning how to worship
- 1:24:53And learning the true faith
- 1:24:56And what purifies the heart
- 1:24:59Those are the three obligations
- 1:25:00He said "Learning about the true faith"
- 1:25:02"Is a clear must"
- 1:25:05"And learning how to correctly worship"
- 1:25:11"Like learning about Wudo, Prayer, Hajj, Fasting and Zakat"
- 1:25:14"And learning about the medicine of hearts, is a must for every person"
- 1:25:20You must learn what purifies the heart
- 1:25:23What purifies the heart?
- 1:25:25This is very important
- 1:25:27Otherwise, you'll be lost
- 1:25:29It's an individual obligation upon you to learn what purifies your heart
- 1:25:31How does your heart purify?
- 1:25:34Firstly, to know that it requires a lot of self-control
- 1:25:39And to hard work
- 1:25:42Because it's a great deal
- 1:25:44Imagine that Ibrahim -pbuh-, the father of the Prophets,
- 1:25:48Was afraid and said "And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected"
- 1:25:51"The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
- 1:25:55Which is matter that's worth the hard work
- 1:25:57It's worth enduring hardships and troubles for
- 1:26:03Al-Hasan Al-Basri said "Faith is not by desire"
- 1:26:07"Nor by pretending"
- 1:26:09"But it is what is fixed in the heart, and proven by the actions"
- 1:26:12"Whoever uttered and did good, will be accepted"
- 1:26:15"While who utters good and does else, will not be accepted"
- 1:26:20Faith isn't by desire or empty words, Sheikh Faisal
- 1:26:26It doesn't work like this
- 1:26:28What's your evidence of your faith?
- 1:26:30"The Bedouins say, "We have believed." Say, "You have not [yet] believed"
- 1:26:34"But say [instead], 'We have submitted,' for faith has not yet entered your hearts."
- 1:26:39Which is a huge difference
- 1:26:42It isn't about what you said
- 1:26:44Faith isn't by desire
- 1:26:46Nor by appearance, as wearing virtuous attires...
- 1:26:51Or which virtuous people wear
- 1:26:54That doesn't mean you've become one
- 1:26:56Faith is here
- 1:26:58Faith isn't by desire
- 1:27:00Nor by appearance, but what is fixed in the heart and proved by actions
- 1:27:05"Whoever utters and does good, will be accepted"
- 1:27:08"While who utters good and does else, will not be accepted"
- 1:27:11Therefore, we need to fix this
- 1:27:14We need to pay attention to this
- 1:27:16We need to realize the importance of this
- 1:27:20The first thing to do, is to seek its God
- 1:27:23The God of my heart, we pray to Him
- 1:27:27With hopefulness and humility, that He fixes it
- 1:27:30And to save it from its illness
- 1:27:32And to save it, because He's its owner
- 1:27:37"There is no heart that is not between two of the Fingers of the Most Merciful."
- 1:27:41Controls it as He wishes
- 1:27:43That's why most of his Dua, peace be upon him,
- 1:27:47Was "O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion"
- 1:27:52We must memorize and repeat this Dua
- 1:27:54And another of his Dua, peace be upon him,
- 1:27:57Was "O Allah, I ask You for a humble heart"
- 1:28:00"And I seek refuge in You from a heart that does not fear"
- 1:28:03We must also memorize and repeat this Dua
- 1:28:05Another of his Dua, peace be upon him, was...
- 1:28:08"O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness"
- 1:28:11"From miserliness and from cowardice," and the punishment of the grave.
- 1:28:14"O Allah! Grant me the sense of piety"
- 1:28:16"And purify my soul as You are the Best to purify it. "
- 1:28:19"You are the Best to purify it."
- 1:28:21"You are its Guardian and its Protecting Friend"
- 1:28:23"O Allah! I seek refuge in You from a heart which does not fear"
- 1:28:27And from an eye that doesn't shed tears.
- 1:28:29"And from desire which is not satisfied,"
- 1:28:31"From the knowledge which is not beneficial"
- 1:28:33"And from prayer which is not answered]."
- 1:28:35So, this long Dua about fixing the heart shows how crucial the matter is
- 1:28:38Because no one greater than Allah that can fix your heart
- 1:28:44If He wanted to fix it overnight, He will
- 1:28:47Removing all filth and muck from it
- 1:28:50Instantly, He could make your heart sound
- 1:28:54"But his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous"
- 1:28:56I really love this verse
- 1:28:58Notice how easy it happened
- 1:29:01Just once God chooses him
- 1:29:03Which isn't difficult for His majesty,
- 1:29:06"But his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous"
- 1:29:09Praise be to Allah,
- 1:29:10Do you want to be righteous?
- 1:29:12I also want so
- 1:29:14What to do? we seek the Fixer of fixers
- 1:29:18We seek the One who purifies the souls
- 1:29:22Who fixes and purifies them
- 1:29:26So, you must say "O'Allah, fix my heart"
- 1:29:28"O' Allah, make my heart steadfast"
- 1:29:30"O' Allah, I ask You a humble heart"
- 1:29:31"O God, I seek refuge in Thee from a heart which is not submissive"
- 1:29:34And to repeat these prayers in each kneel
- 1:29:37And in each time, you think you could be answered
- 1:29:40Which is a crucial matter
- 1:29:42Because people think that they could just follow certain materialistic steps
- 1:29:47But it isn't at all like this
- 1:29:49It isn't at all like this
- 1:29:51The Fixer of fixers is the God of all creation
- 1:29:54- We seek Allah - Praise be to Him
- 1:29:57You must seek refuge in Him
- 1:29:59We have no choice but to beg Him
- 1:30:03Like the man who left the house searching for his heart
- 1:30:06And saw the child on his mother's doorstep
- 1:30:09Calling for her "O' Mother, if you didn't have mercy on me..."
- 1:30:13"If you didn't show compassion to me..."
- 1:30:15Only to know that this is the only way
- 1:30:18To sit at the doorstep of Allah
- 1:30:20"Stand in humility and call for Allah"
- 1:30:22"For The Most Generous answers to who calls Him"
- 1:30:25"Stand in humility and call for Allah"
- 1:30:27"For The Most Generous answers to who calls Him"
- 1:30:29So, sit and pray that "O' Allah, I have a stiff heart..."
- 1:30:36"Fix it for me."
- 1:30:37"O' Allah, my heart is as hard as stone..."
- 1:30:43"Grant me the delicacy and leniency of heart"
- 1:30:47"O' Allah, I ask You to allow me to enjoy worshiping You"
- 1:30:53"With a clean, clear and pure heart that yearns for You"
- 1:30:57Those are great things
- 1:30:59People should recite these prayers in the morning and the evening
- 1:31:04And after the Dua, they must seek the material means
- 1:31:07Which is firstly by repenting to Allah and quitting sins
- 1:31:10Because sins are the greatest reason for the death of the heart
- 1:31:14And the biggest reason for stiff hearts
- 1:31:16"I saw how sins perish hearts"
- 1:31:19"Such humiliation might cause their addiction"
- 1:31:22"But quitting sins brings life to the hearts"
- 1:31:24"But quitting sins brings life to the hearts"
- 1:31:26"It's more beneficial for yourself to disobey it"
- 1:31:28Do you want your heart to revive and purify?
- 1:31:31And to clarify? abandon the sins
- 1:31:34Such conflict between the heart, the senses and the behavior
- 1:31:38Should people begin with the heart?
- 1:31:42And prepare for the hard work?
- 1:31:45And abandon sins
- 1:31:48And attempting to quit some habits
- 1:31:52Can you tell me a little about the relation between the heart and the senses
- 1:31:57Let me tell you something, it's an external relation
- 1:32:01Or let me say, internal-external
- 1:32:05It's an internal-external relation
- 1:32:08At first, what do I do, Sheikh Faisal?
- 1:32:09At first, I abandon and quit the sins
- 1:32:12But I find some difficulty in doing so
- 1:32:14I find some hardship
- 1:32:16When I attempt to avoid looking after I used to look
- 1:32:20I attempt to hold my senses against what's Haram
- 1:32:23I attempt to stop my tongue from saying Haram things
- 1:32:25When I attempt so, I will find some difficulty
- 1:32:29But how does this affect the heart?
- 1:32:32It purifies the heart
- 1:32:35When the heart is purified, it'll aid the senses in avoiding sins
- 1:32:40Imam Ghazali says: "Senses are the gateways of the heart"
- 1:32:43Amazing, that's true
- 1:32:45The heart is a vessel
- 1:32:48Filled through these gateways
- 1:32:50When you give it Haram things through the eyes or ears...
- 1:32:54Or the food, and tongue
- 1:32:57The heart will be blackened and polluted
- 1:33:01But when you avoid seeing, hearing and saying anything Haram
- 1:33:05And when you force the senses to avoid what's Haram
- 1:33:07Your heart will gradually purify
- 1:33:10- So, people could purify their hearts? - Undoubtedly
- 1:33:12No one should ever lose hope, then
- 1:33:15Because some might think that they'd sinned too many times
- 1:33:19Like the person who'd killed 99 persons
- 1:33:22They think they'd sinned a lot
- 1:33:24Allah knows what I've done but He protects me out of His mercy
- 1:33:28But I've sinned
- 1:33:30Too many times, that I feel like my heart is too heart that I've even lost hope
- 1:33:37Some people might not even be able to feel such hope
- 1:33:42People should never despair
- 1:33:45We just mentioned the man who killed 100 persons
- 1:33:47Amongst them a very prominent worshiper too
- 1:33:51People sent him to him knowing he's a worshiper
- 1:33:55Despite that...
- 1:33:57Look, Sheikh Faisal, talking about the heart makes things easier not more complicated
- 1:34:02Why so? because I don't require you to pray a thousand Raka's in order to repent
- 1:34:08Nor that you must read the whole Quran many times
- 1:34:13Only then can Allah accept you
- 1:34:15Or that you must recite prayers 100,000 times
- 1:34:17It isn't like that
- 1:34:19Rather, with little work
- 1:34:21And a lot of attention to the heart
- 1:34:24Allah will accept you and bring you closer
- 1:34:26With clean intentions...
- 1:34:28Attention to the heart is the most important thing
- 1:34:30And to abandon sins, and gradually return to worshiping
- 1:34:34But never ever open such door upon yourself
- 1:34:37Because who opens the doors of temptations falls into them
- 1:34:40Don't sit where temptation is
- 1:34:42Don't sit where you know you can't avoid looking
- 1:34:45Or where you know, you can't avoid listening to what's Haram
- 1:34:51Or where you can't stop uttering what's Haram
- 1:34:53People will provoke you
- 1:34:55And will drive you to sin, be aware
- 1:34:58Shut the doors to sins
- 1:35:00If your trail is with looking at what's Haram...
- 1:35:02Shut the doors to sins, even if it hurts at first
- 1:35:05If your phone calls you for what's Haram, leave it for the sake of Allah
- 1:35:09For a while, until your heart is cured
- 1:35:12Use a Nokia phone instead
- 1:35:14Or an old phone
- 1:35:15Don't allow the devil to deceive you
- 1:35:17I swear, the heaven is more precious than we could even imagine
- 1:35:23- And much more pleasing - We seek it
- 1:35:26While we seek the perishing joys of this Dunya
- 1:35:29Unable to leave the phone
- 1:35:31Exaggerating its importance for himself
- 1:35:35But isn't the heaven more precious to you than your phone?
- 1:35:38If the heaven isn't in your heart as much as your phone...
- 1:35:41Such a strange thing
- 1:35:44"Do they not think that they will be resurrected"
- 1:35:46But in order to achieve this level, it must be a gradual process
- 1:35:49Some with higher levels of belief might see it as a simple thing
- 1:35:54But even the people with ill or stiff hearts...
- 1:36:01Can give the same answer, but their senses are used to a certain way
- 1:36:06So, the process must be a gradual one
- 1:36:12Because even the obvious questions
- 1:36:14For a person immersed in sins
- 1:36:19Might not be able to see better pleasure or joy?
- 1:36:23Do you get what I mean, doctor?
- 1:36:24So, how can they free themselves from this world?
- 1:36:27And to seek refuge with Allah
- 1:36:29But the devil always whispers certain thoughts to them
- 1:36:35That Allah will never accept you
- 1:36:37Or that the path to Allah is difficult
- 1:36:39While it's much easier than one might think
- 1:36:42Which is my point
- 1:36:44That purify the heart is easier than you think, you just have to take the first steps
- 1:36:50Abu-Huraira came to the Prophet -pbuh-...
- 1:36:53And said "O' Prophet of Allah, our hearts soften when we are with you"
- 1:36:58"And we remember the afterlife"
- 1:37:01"Our hearts soften and we remember the afterlife"
- 1:37:03"And when we leave, we like the world"
- 1:37:07"And when we leave, we like the world"
- 1:37:09So, he replied to Abu-Huraira:
- 1:37:12The same sentence he said to Hanzala but with a small addition
- 1:37:17He replied to Abu-Huraira:
- 1:37:19"If you stay like this, Angels would greet you"
- 1:37:22"And if you don't sin, Allah would have replaced you"
- 1:37:27"With people that sin, so that they repent and Allah forgives them"
- 1:37:32The problem isn't with not sinning
- 1:37:35But repent immediately to Allah
- 1:37:38And don't open the doors for sins upon yourself, but if you did sin...
- 1:37:43Repent
- 1:37:44"And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far,"
- 1:37:48"[It will be said], "This is what you were promised - for every returner [to Allah] and keeper [of His covenant]"
- 1:37:51"Who feared the Most Merciful unseen and came with a heart returning [in repentance]."
- 1:37:55Who is this person that the heaven will be brought to him?
- 1:37:57Who fears Allah in secrecy
- 1:38:00And came with a heart returning in repentance
- 1:38:04Whenever it sins, it repents
- 1:38:06A heart that keeps returning in repentance
- 1:38:09It always repents after the mistakes
- 1:38:11It returns closer after every fall
- 1:38:14It returns after straying
- 1:38:18This is our nature, we all sin
- 1:38:22We all are sinners that make mistakes
- 1:38:25But the problem isn't in sinning
- 1:38:28It is in delaying the repentance to Allah afterwards
- 1:38:32And in not shutting the doors to sin before yourself
- 1:38:35You know there's an open sinning door, shut it closed
- 1:38:37And when you sin, you quickly repent
- 1:38:42But don't leave the doors to sin wide open
- 1:38:44And be quick to repent and ask forgiveness
- 1:38:47And always keep the afterlife in your mind, which leads to a sound heart
- 1:38:51As how Um Al-Darda' advised the man to visit the ill, follow funerals and visit the graves
- 1:38:56Three amazing things, visiting the ill to know how this life is perished
- 1:38:59And how it eventually leads to death
- 1:39:03Following the funerals to realize your true last journey
- 1:39:08After which you'll begin your true and eternal life
- 1:39:13And visit the graves to know that this is your true home
- 1:39:15This is your permanent house
- 1:39:18When you realize this, your heart purifies
- 1:39:20The heart becomes clearer
- 1:39:23Which are important things...
- 1:39:25No worldly pleasure is worth it
- 1:39:28God bless you, doctor, thanks for accepting the invitation
