- 0:00Hi everyone!
- 0:01My name is Mia,
- 0:02and today I’d like to talk about my favorite drink.
- 0:06There are many drinks that I enjoy,
- 0:09such as coffee, hot chocolate,
- 0:12fruit juice, and sparkling water.
- 0:15However, the drink I choose most often is peach iced tea.
- 0:22I like peach iced tea because it is light,
- 0:25fruity, and refreshing.
- 0:28It has the fresh taste of tea
- 0:30and a gentle sweetness from the peach.
- 0:34It is not as heavy as a milkshake,
- 0:36and it is usually less bitter than coffee.
- 0:40I can drink it with a meal,
- 0:42during a short break, or while working at my desk.
- 0:47I first tried peach iced tea several years ago
- 0:51at a small café.
- 0:53I had planned to order a latte,
- 0:55but the weather was warm,
- 0:57so I wanted something cold instead.
- 1:01The menu had several kinds of iced tea,
- 1:04including lemon, berry, and peach.
- 1:08I chose peach because it sounded simple and familiar.
- 1:13The drink arrived in a tall glass filled with ice.
- 1:17It had a light golden color,
- 1:19and there were two thin slices of peach near the top.
- 1:24I could smell the fruit before I took my first sip.
- 1:29The tea was slightly strong,
- 1:31but the peach flavor made it softer and sweeter.
- 1:35I liked it immediately.
- 1:38These days, I often make peach iced tea at home.
- 1:42I usually prepare it in the afternoon,
- 1:45especially
- 1:46when I have been sitting in front of my computer
- 1:48for several hours.
- 1:51Making it
- 1:51gives me a reason to stand up and take a short break.
- 1:56First,
- 1:56I boil some water and place a black tea bag in a cup.
- 2:01I leave it there for about three or four minutes.
- 2:05If I leave it for too long,
- 2:07the tea becomes too bitter.
- 2:10After removing the tea bag,
- 2:12I add a small amount of peach syrup or peach juice.
- 2:17I don't add much sugar
- 2:19because the peach syrup is already sweet.
- 2:22Then I let the tea cool for a few minutes.
- 2:26I fill a large glass with ice cubes
- 2:29and pour the tea over them.
- 2:32Sometimes I add a few pieces of fresh or canned peach.
- 2:37I stir everything with a long spoon,
- 2:40and the drink is ready.
- 2:43My homemade version doesn't always look as beautiful
- 2:47as the drinks in cafés.
- 2:49The peach pieces sometimes sink to the bottom,
- 2:53and the ice melts quickly on very warm days.
- 2:57Still,
- 2:57I enjoy making it because I can control the sweetness.
- 3:02Many ready-made drinks are too sweet for me,
- 3:05so I usually ask for less sugar when I order one outside.
- 3:10I normally drink peach iced tea in the afternoon.
- 3:14I rarely drink it early in the morning
- 3:17because I prefer something warm with breakfast.
- 3:21In the evening, I choose a version without caffeine,
- 3:25especially when I plan to sleep early.
- 3:28I use fruit tea instead of black tea,
- 3:31but I still add peach juice and ice.
- 3:35Peach iced tea also goes well with many kinds of food.
- 3:40I like having it with a sandwich,
- 3:43a salad, or a light pasta dish.
- 3:47When I order something rich or salty,
- 3:50the fruity taste makes the meal feel fresher.
- 3:54I don't usually order it with cake
- 3:56because the combination can become too sweet.
- 4:00When I meet my friend Anna at a café,
- 4:03she often orders coffee,
- 4:05while I check whether peach iced tea is available.
- 4:09We sometimes taste each other’s drinks,
- 4:12but we normally return to our usual choices.
- 4:16She prefers the strong smell of coffee,
- 4:19and I prefer the light taste of fruit and tea.
- 4:24I still enjoy trying other drinks from time to time.
- 4:28I may order lemonade on a hot day
- 4:31or hot chocolate when the weather is cold.
- 4:35However,
- 4:35peach iced tea is the drink I return to most often.
- 4:40It is simple,
- 4:42easy to prepare, and suitable for many parts of my day.
- 4:56If something tastes bitter, it has a strong, sharp taste that is not sweet.
- 5:05The tea was a little bitter, so Mia added more peach syrup.
- 5:18Slices are thin, flat pieces of food that have been cut from something larger.
- 5:26There were two thin slices of peach in Mia’s iced tea.
- 5:39Ice cubes are small pieces of frozen water used to make drinks cold.
- 5:46Mia added some ice cubes to her glass before pouring in the tea.
- 5:58To sink means to go down below the surface of water or another liquid.
- 6:05The peach slices slowly sank to the bottom of the glass.
- 6:18Sparkling water is water with bubbles in it.
- 6:22Mia sometimes drinks sparkling water when she wants something fresh but not sweet.
- 6:35To pour means to make liquid flow from one container into another.
- 6:42Mia poured the peach tea into a tall glass.
- 6:53To stir means to move liquid or food around with a spoon or straw.
- 6:59She stirred the drink gently to mix the tea and peach syrup.
- 7:09To melt means to become liquid because of heat.
- 7:16The ice cubes started to melt in my drink.
