  1. 0:00Why does it say, "Should I give up? I
  2. 0:02never give up." Listen, could it be
  3. 0:04that you have some grievances? Deserve,
  4. 0:07do not desire. Deserve, do not desire.
  5. 0:12And that is when the jump to a new
  6. 0:13level happens. The more you express an
  7. 0:16emotion, the broader it becomes.
  8. 0:19Exactly. Wait, so there is some kind of
  9. 0:21connection, it turns out. A strong mind
  10. 0:24holds the body. to Maskara. A friend of
  11. 0:37mine came to a yoga center and stayed
  12. 0:39with the locals to get more comfortable
  13. 0:42accommodation. And he got to know the
  14. 0:46local people here. Well, they started
  15. 0:49unloading their souls to him, saying,
  16. 0:52medicine here is completely hopeless.
  17. 0:56Nothing good. This country is sliding
  18. 1:00down a slippery slope. Doctors keep
  19. 1:03treating, treating, but they just can't
  20. 1:05cure it. They cured it once, then it
  21. 1:07happened again. And so on in that vein.
  22. 1:10He listens, absorbs it empathetically,
  23. 1:12and says: "Listen, could it be that you
  24. 1:15have some grievances?" They say: "Yes,
  25. 1:18there are grievances, oh yes, so many
  26. 1:19grievances." They start unloading,
  27. 1:22about how children don't visit, and so
  28. 1:25on in that vein. He asks: "And when did
  29. 1:28these grievances start?" They’ve been
  30. 1:31there for 20 years. He asks: "And when
  31. 1:34did the illnesses start?" They say: "
  32. 1:37Also 20 years." He says: "Do you not
  33. 1:39see any parallel there?" Like: "Exactly
  34. 1:42, wait, so there is some kind of
  35. 1:45connection, it turns out." And our mind
  36. 1:49has a deep impact on the body. The mind
  37. 1:56can be a medicine, the mind can be a
  38. 1:58poison. I have a friend, I am already
  39. 2:04begging him. He is a very important
  40. 2:07person to me, a great example, and a
  41. 2:09teacher too. And I tell him: "Please,
  42. 2:13get some sleep, you really need to rest
  43. 2:16." You need a day off. Yes, yes. Well,
  44. 2:18at least sleep for 5 hours. He says: "
  45. 2:21Ah, Sadhananda." Why did the Lord give
  46. 2:24this body? He gave this body for
  47. 2:26service. I am engaged in service. If I
  48. 2:29wear out this body, the Lord will give
  49. 2:31me a new one. I say: "Yes, but I need
  50. 2:35you. Please, you have to be here with
  51. 2:39us." He says: "It will all be fine,
  52. 2:41everything is good." And when you work
  53. 2:44like that, you burn yourself out. I
  54. 2:48mean, you sleep for 4 hours, and the
  55. 2:51rest of the time you talk, meditate,
  56. 2:54work. You have this fire burning. And I
  57. 2:57am sure any other person's body would
  58. 3:00have fallen apart, but he is in such a
  59. 3:04positive state, such a state of faith.
  60. 3:09I called him yesterday, well, to
  61. 3:11complain, to be honest. I mean, I have
  62. 3:15all sorts of different tensions in my
  63. 3:17life. I say, "Yes, yes, this, this, and
  64. 3:20this." Well, he listened, and then he
  65. 3:23unloaded some of his problems onto me.
  66. 3:25I say, "Yes, I feel like I have
  67. 3:27absolutely no problems at all." Zero.
  68. 3:32When I listened to you, I mean, the
  69. 3:34amount of stress a person has to endure
  70. 3:37, the weight hanging on their shoulders
  71. 3:39, I just put myself in that place. I
  72. 3:43immediately imagined being crushed
  73. 3:46under a concrete slab, and he says, "Oh
  74. 3:49, Sananda.""Well, I don't give up," he
  75. 3:52says. "Why," he says, "should I give up
  76. 3:54?""I never give up." And again, in this
  77. 3:59positivity, a strong mind holds the
  78. 4:02body together. The body won't fall
  79. 4:06apart. A strong and positive mind keeps
  80. 4:10the body intact. Likewise, a negative
  81. 4:15mind destroys the body. Especially a
  82. 4:18strong, negative mind. I mean, it could
  83. 4:21be weak, like a person who is spineless
  84. 4:24, yes, incapable, well, they lack that
  85. 4:27sense of resolve in their consciousness
  86. 4:30, they lack psychic power, weak psychic
  87. 4:33power. That's one thing. They will
  88. 4:36slowly, of course, they will destroy
  89. 4:38themselves, but slowly. But if a person
  90. 4:41who possesses a strong mind has
  91. 4:43negative thinking, they are destroyed
  92. 4:45very quickly. That is why they say that
  93. 4:49this whole spiritual path is a bit
  94. 4:52dangerous. They say it's like walking
  95. 4:54on a razor's edge. I mean, as soon as
  96. 4:57you step onto this path, the mind is
  97. 5:02double-edged. A blade can cut and kill,
  98. 5:08or it can build and construct. And when
  99. 5:14you set out on this path of increasing
  100. 5:17your power, you must also commit to the
  101. 5:20path of good, otherwise you will
  102. 5:23destroy yourself and those around you.
  103. 5:27That is a very important element. And
  104. 5:30our emotions, our emotions, they are
  105. 5:33precisely what heal and destroy. There
  106. 5:37are no negative emotions. You can't say
  107. 5:38that I am with a negative emotion. We
  108. 5:41needed all emotions in our evolution,
  109. 5:43at some stage. But today, living in a
  110. 5:48developed world, in a developed
  111. 5:51civilization, our bodies have become
  112. 5:54refined. I mean, we aren't in the
  113. 5:57fields, bent double, working away. And
  114. 6:02our hands aren't all calloused and huge
  115. 6:04. We mostly sit in offices, we are
  116. 6:07intellectual, we read books, watch
  117. 6:09movies, we have tons of all sorts of
  118. 6:10information. I mean, our body is
  119. 6:14gradually refining; the body is
  120. 6:16becoming refined, and this subtle body
  121. 6:19simply cannot endure heavy emotions.
  122. 6:23It's like, uh, having a tractor, right,
  123. 6:26and you put diesel in it,
  124. 6:28chug-chug-chug-chug-chug-chug, and it
  125. 6:31just rumbles along. That's the kind of
  126. 6:36fuel it needs. But for a car, I read
  127. 6:40somewhere that there was some kind of
  128. 6:45record where they drove over 500 km on
  129. 6:49a single liter of fuel. Honestly, I
  130. 6:54don't remember the exact numbers now,
  131. 6:56but it really impressed me. I thought,
  132. 6:58what kind of engineering is that? I
  133. 6:59mean, the state of the art, right,
  134. 7:02they’ve refined the engine to such a
  135. 7:04level that it just keeps going on a
  136. 7:07single liter. And it’s much like
  137. 7:09modern cars with all these injectors
  138. 7:12and electronic devices that regulate
  139. 7:14the entire engine's operation. It’s
  140. 7:17nothing like it was 50 years ago.
  141. 7:19It’s exactly the same with our bodies
  142. 7:20. If perhaps 50 years ago I could
  143. 7:23experience low-level emotions with
  144. 7:25impunity, today those emotions are
  145. 7:28starting to possess a much more
  146. 7:30destructive power. That’s why things
  147. 7:34like fear, resentment, and anger
  148. 7:36destroy a person; they lead to the
  149. 7:38disintegration of one's personality. To
  150. 7:41move from theory to practice, I invite
  151. 7:43you to our Telegram channel for
  152. 7:45meditation lessons. There you will
  153. 7:48communicate with a community of
  154. 7:49like-minded people, take part in
  155. 7:51marathons, and learn interesting things
  156. 7:53. Everything offered there is either
  157. 7:56completely free or donation-based, so
  158. 7:59it’s accessible to everyone. You are
  159. 8:02most welcome. Right. What to do with
  160. 8:05emotions? Well, yoga's biopsychology
  161. 8:07teaches that you shouldn't suppress
  162. 8:09them. There's this idea in modern
  163. 8:12psychology that you need to express
  164. 8:14your emotions and live through them.
  165. 8:16Well, biopsychology doesn't really
  166. 8:18support that idea either. Biopsychology
  167. 8:21says that if you keep expressing them,
  168. 8:23you develop a certain neuroplasticity.
  169. 8:27Meaning your brain, well, it’s like
  170. 8:29if you run water through a channel—
  171. 8:32the same one—that channel just gets
  172. 8:34wider. Or like in the forest where we
  173. 8:38go to film; we see that we’ve
  174. 8:39trampled a path, and it’s become a
  175. 8:40full-blown road. And if your nerves are
  176. 8:49constantly running on such emotions,
  177. 8:51you’re carving paths in your head, in
  178. 8:53your entire system. And the more you
  179. 8:57express a certain emotion, the wider
  180. 8:59that path gets, and the easier it is
  181. 9:01for energy to flow into that channel.
  182. 9:03Therefore, expression isn't encouraged,
  183. 9:06but suppression is also particularly
  184. 9:08bad. Because you accumulate energy, it
  185. 9:11grows and grows, and then it breaks you
  186. 9:13, breaks your willpower, and explodes
  187. 9:17out even more strongly. And redirection
  188. 9:20is what’s prescribed. Redirection
  189. 9:23means taking energy away from lower
  190. 9:25emotions so that they gradually wither,
  191. 9:28dry up, and fall away on their own. And
  192. 9:31directing this emotion into the higher
  193. 9:35sphere. In other words, if you want to
  194. 9:38live without negativity, live in
  195. 9:39positivity. What are high emotions?
  196. 9:43Service, love, devotion, faith. This is
  197. 9:50exactly what is prescribed for the
  198. 9:53state of a normal, decent yogi. And the
  199. 9:58only obstacle to this is...What
  200. 10:00obstacle? The obstacle of egocentrism.
  201. 10:04That is, this egocentrism won't let you
  202. 10:07experience high emotions. It will keep
  203. 10:09you at this level all the time. And
  204. 10:12you'll have to untangle all these knots
  205. 10:15, see a psychologist, and work through
  206. 10:17all those various things and so on. It
  207. 10:21won't let you be happy. Letting go of
  208. 10:25egocentrism. What is egocentrism?
  209. 10:28Egocentrism is when "I," my desires,
  210. 10:32and my needs are at the center of my
  211. 10:35life. But try putting God and the
  212. 10:39well-being of all living beings at the
  213. 10:42center of your life. And that is when a
  214. 10:46leap to a new level occurs. If you look
  215. 10:48at it from a biopsychological
  216. 10:50perspective, we have lower emotions in
  217. 10:52the three lower chakras, then human
  218. 10:54emotions here, and divine emotions here
  219. 10:56. You get that leap to a new level, by
  220. 11:03accepting a spiritual ideology, for
  221. 11:06example, "Atmamoksartham jagat hitaya
  222. 11:09ca." Liberation of the self and service
  223. 11:13to the entire universe. I live for that
  224. 11:16. It’s scary to accept such an
  225. 11:19ideology. You think, "Who will take
  226. 11:22care of me?""I'll remain unhappy and
  227. 11:25unfulfilled." I’ve interacted with
  228. 11:28this a lot. A young guy walks by,
  229. 11:30looking sour, and I ask, "Why so sour?"
  230. 11:34"I’m 20 years old and I haven't
  231. 11:35realized my potential yet." He already
  232. 11:38wants to be fulfilled. If you want to
  233. 11:43be fulfilled, forget about the roses.
  234. 11:46Water the roots. Loosen the soil, water
  235. 11:50the roots, and cultivate them. That is,
  236. 11:53engage in self-discipline, engage in
  237. 11:55service, and forget about the results.
  238. 11:58Results will come in time. If you are
  239. 12:01fixated on the result, you are
  240. 12:03simultaneously fixated on your
  241. 12:05egocentrism, because "it is I who wants
  242. 12:07." One of my teachers once tugged me
  243. 12:14quite hard and said: "Deserve, do not
  244. 12:18desire.""Deserve, do not desire." It
  245. 12:23cut so deep that it actually hurt. I
  246. 12:25was proposing some initiative to
  247. 12:28improve our living conditions. And he
  248. 12:31just cut me off: "Deserve, do not
  249. 12:34desire." When you deserve something,
  250. 12:37everything comes to you in life without
  251. 12:39you having to ask or struggle for it.
  252. 12:41It’s like cultivating a rose bush.
  253. 12:45You can’t know what kind of roses
  254. 12:48will appear, small or large. All you
  255. 12:51can do is cultivate the roots, care for
  256. 12:53the roots, water them, loosen the soil,
  257. 12:56and properly shape the bush. That’s
  258. 13:00all you can do. And so, uh you need to
  259. 13:04take this leap. It’s a scary leap to
  260. 13:07make, from egocentrism to a state of
  261. 13:10spiritual flow, where you live for the
  262. 13:13liberation of your spirit and for
  263. 13:15service, for the greater good of all
  264. 13:18beings. and don't think about yourself.
  265. 13:22I know many people disagree with this
  266. 13:24right now, because it’s a different
  267. 13:26paradigm. The egocentric paradigm is
  268. 13:28different. That’s exactly where you
  269. 13:29have to think about yourself. Right.
  270. 13:33And, well, there will constantly be
  271. 13:36knots, constantly some kind of
  272. 13:37negativity there at that level. If you
  273. 13:40jump to a new level, there will be a
  274. 13:42stable, powerful flow of happiness.
  275. 13:47That is why I wanted to highlight this
  276. 13:50point today. Ah, and why did I start
  277. 13:52talking about this at all? It's on the
  278. 13:55topic that some people think that if
  279. 13:57they are, for example, vegetarians,
  280. 13:59then they are already saints.
  281. 14:02Vegetarianism helps you not to take
  282. 14:05toxins into your body. And someone
  283. 14:08wrote in the comments, well, as part of
  284. 14:10a critique, probably, of vegetarianism,
  285. 14:12that that’s probably a Christian,
  286. 14:16right, some kind of position. It’s
  287. 14:18not what goes into you that matters,
  288. 14:21but what comes out of you. Yes, if you
  289. 14:24are all clean and everything is great
  290. 14:26with you, but when you open your mouth,
  291. 14:29snakes and dragons and toads spill out,
  292. 14:31then that won't do. That won't work.
  293. 14:34That won't make you a spiritual person.
  294. 14:37Today, vegetarianism is just a starting
  295. 14:40point to begin maintaining the purity
  296. 14:42of your body. But even more important
  297. 14:45hygiene is within your mind. What
  298. 14:48emotions are you experiencing? And some
  299. 14:50people think that they don't control
  300. 14:53their emotions. We do control our
  301. 14:55emotions. We can, that is, we can step
  302. 14:58back a little and understand, this
  303. 15:00thought is happening within me, but
  304. 15:01this thought is not me. This emotion is
  305. 15:05happening to me, but it is not me. I
  306. 15:10can do something about it. I can
  307. 15:12redirect my mind into a positive
  308. 15:14direction. I can improve my state. The
  309. 15:18technology for how to do this is
  310. 15:20exactly what meditation is. This is
  311. 15:23exactly why I constantly talk about
  312. 15:25meditation. Why? Because it is a need
  313. 15:30of our day. We got out of the fields,
  314. 15:33stopped growing rice and wheat.
  315. 15:35Tractors do all that now. We aren't
  316. 15:38bent double over those fields anymore.
  317. 15:40We have become intellectual. We are
  318. 15:43moving into the realm of spirituality.
  319. 15:46And today, that is, earlier, like, I
  320. 15:48have a friend, I say: "Well, tell me."
  321. 15:50He works in Africa and, well, is
  322. 15:52engaged in humanitarian service. That
  323. 15:56is, he has a school, he has
  324. 15:57cooperatives to raise the economic
  325. 15:59standard of living. There. Well, a good
  326. 16:01friend of mine. We studied together in
  327. 16:04a monastery. And then we graduated. He
  328. 16:06went to Africa. I went to China. I said
  329. 16:10, "Well, tell me, how is it in Africa?"
  330. 16:12He says, "The problems there are
  331. 16:14completely different." I mean, people
  332. 16:16are so focused simply on survival that
  333. 16:19they just don't understand our European
  334. 16:21problems. We have some kind of drama
  335. 16:25going on in our heads, right? If you
  336. 16:27start telling them about it, they
  337. 16:29simply won't understand. They'll say, "
  338. 16:32You people are just spoiled." But that
  339. 16:37is what happened to us. We have shifted
  340. 16:39; we moved from the physical sphere
  341. 16:41into the mental sphere. And we need
  342. 16:44technologies with which we can
  343. 16:46constantly transform our emotions. And
  344. 16:50meditation is one such technology. I
  345. 16:52will remind you once again that there
  346. 16:55is a link below this video to our basic
  347. 16:58meditation course. You can take it, you
  348. 17:01can start meditating today, and today
  349. 17:04feel this struggle. For example, you
  350. 17:08have some kind of conflict situation,
  351. 17:11and you are angry, or offended, for
  352. 17:13instance. And your mind pulls you into
  353. 17:17that situation like a magnet, right? It
  354. 17:20magnetizes you, and you can't think
  355. 17:22about anything else but that.
  356. 17:25Meditation gives you a new object for
  357. 17:27contemplation, a cosmic idea. And so
  358. 17:30you sit there, you're being torn in
  359. 17:32half, but the more effort you make, the
  360. 17:35more you shift toward this cosmic idea.
  361. 17:38And the moment you are able to focus
  362. 17:41there, that very moment you are healed
  363. 17:44from the pain that you are experiencing
  364. 17:48in your karmic life. And so you've
  365. 17:50healed, you walk around healthy for two
  366. 17:53hours, everything is fine, and then you
  367. 17:56get sucked back into the meat grinder
  368. 17:58that is happening in your life. Sit
  369. 18:02down again and with all the will of
  370. 18:05your mind, rise into this new state.
  371. 18:09That is what needs to be done. This is
  372. 18:10redirection, this is rewiring your
  373. 18:13brain. It means you divert water from
  374. 18:17some channels, these paths through
  375. 18:20which neurochemical charges move in
  376. 18:23your head, and you divert it from there
  377. 18:26and forge new paths. This is very
  378. 18:30important. Friends, if everything I
  379. 18:33talk about here touches your heart and
  380. 18:36positively influences your life,
  381. 18:38support the work of the meditation
  382. 18:40lessons with a financial contribution
  383. 18:43you can afford. Thank you. The mind has
  384. 18:47the potential to heal. A strong,
  385. 18:50positive mind. It can hold even the
  386. 18:53most falling-apart body like this in
  387. 18:55its fist. And that body won't make a
  388. 18:57peep. It will hold together and will
  389. 18:59not be sick. That's our guru, too. He
  390. 19:05He's in the hospital, kind of sick, and
  391. 19:07everyone is fussing over him. Now
  392. 19:10you'll say: "Oh, what kind of guru is
  393. 19:11this? You were just talking about him."
  394. 19:14And there's the doctor fussing over him
  395. 19:16: "You shouldn't be doing anything. You
  396. 19:18shouldn't be doing anything." He says:
  397. 19:20"He thinks he's my doctor." But what is
  398. 19:25actually happening? When I tell myself
  399. 19:28"illness," illness begins. When I tell
  400. 19:32myself "healing," healing begins. When
  401. 19:36I give you an initiation, I take your
  402. 19:39sins upon myself. And I have to
  403. 19:42compensate for this, create balance in
  404. 19:45the Universe by experiencing this
  405. 19:47suffering in my body, but I accept it
  406. 19:50of my own free will. It's not like the
  407. 19:52illness came when I didn't want it.
  408. 19:54That is, when I give myself a signal, I
  409. 19:57say: "Illness, illness, healing,
  410. 19:59healing." So, that's the kind of mind
  411. 20:02he has; he also had leg surgery. It was
  412. 20:05such a very interesting story. He’s
  413. 20:08walking, limping, and his personal
  414. 20:10assistant says: "Here, here, sit down."
  415. 20:12He sat down and took off his shoe.
  416. 20:14Everything inside was covered in blood,
  417. 20:17even clotted blood. And he looked at
  418. 20:20the shoe and saw nails sticking out
  419. 20:22like this. He had been walking on those
  420. 20:25nails. He said: "What kind of nightmare
  421. 20:27is this? What is going on?" He says: "
  422. 20:30Oh, Ramananda, leave it." It's not
  423. 20:34important. I don't even occupy my mind
  424. 20:35with it at all. There's no point in
  425. 20:37occupying my mind. Your whole foot is
  426. 20:39torn apart. I'm telling you, don't even
  427. 20:43think about it. Then they do the
  428. 20:46surgery on his leg, they cut things out
  429. 20:49, tidy things up, stitch it up, and
  430. 20:51they tell him: "Well, let's give you
  431. 20:54anesthesia." He says: "No, you don't
  432. 20:56need to, just do your job, don't use
  433. 20:58any anesthesia." And, well, the doctor
  434. 21:00just shrugged his shoulders and
  435. 21:02stitched it all up. And he says: "How
  436. 21:04is this even possible?" He says: "
  437. 21:07Because I have exited the
  438. 21:10psychophysical sphere. I mean, I am not
  439. 21:13in the sphere of the body or at the
  440. 21:14level of the mind. I am above that.
  441. 21:18That is why I am able to divert my
  442. 21:20attention from the leg and not feel
  443. 21:21this pain." Right. And then the
  444. 21:24assistant says: "Listen, why are you
  445. 21:26like this? What is this that is
  446. 21:28happening? Why didn't you tell me? I
  447. 21:30would have removed those nails
  448. 21:32instantly." He says: "You see, I
  449. 21:35recently initiated more than twenty
  450. 21:40monks into higher yoga. A huge amount
  451. 21:44of karma was destroyed." I have to live
  452. 21:47through part of this karma in my own
  453. 21:49body, so I let it happen. There. Well,
  454. 21:52that is, of course, a different topic.
  455. 21:55But my topic was that a positive mind
  456. 21:59has a positive effect on health. A
  457. 22:02negative mind negatively affects health
  458. 22:05. Therefore, we must be very careful
  459. 22:07about the emotions and feelings we
  460. 22:10experience. Oh, yes, besides inviting
  461. 22:13you to learn meditation, there is a
  462. 22:16link. I invite you to sign up, to
  463. 22:18subscribe to our Telegram channel. And
  464. 22:20if this video helps anyone, send it to
  465. 22:23them, share it with someone. I invite
  466. 22:27you to take part in one of our retreats
  467. 22:30. To sit and achieve rapid progress in
  468. 22:35a large field of meditative
  469. 22:37consciousness. That's all, thank you
  470. 22:40for your attention. I hope this topic
  471. 22:44was somehow relevant for you. Namaskar
  472. 22:54Namaste Namodeva
